Honoroit was trying to tell poor Emmanellain that Cessalie and Artoirel had big news to share, but he was too surprised by the rumour he'd picked up completely independently from the Ishgardian contingent returning from Ala Mhigo to listen.

It feels like there should be so many more obvious choices, but my brain keeps coming back to... Emmanellain.

Hold the pitchforks, please, hear me out!

Over her time spent at Fortemps Manor, Li'daen has come to care for the young lord quite a lot, however she also feels he has some growing to do before she can safely say she trusts him, whether that be his judgment, his commitment, or with most things that could bear significant consequences.

In all fairness, he has been privy to what is probably her biggest secret since the day they met, however she isn't sure she would entrust him with the subject of said secret just yet (unless, perhaps, he was with Honoroit... though in that case Honoroit would absolutely be the one put in charge, which might complicate things as he answers to Emmanellain... hmm, on second thought let's not put the boy in that difficult position😅).

She hopes to one day see him become someone she can trust as she does Edmont and Artoirel (as she trusted Haurchefant), and will nonetheless continue to love him as family, whether he makes it there or not.

*it is worth noting that I am not fully up to date with story, nor have I done all side-content in the game, so if I've missed some key element in his development please assume I've just yet to see it (and am looking forward to its discovery)🙏

Prompt 12: Dowdy

"Surely you own something else? Something to make you a tad less...dowdy?"

It was almost as though Roaring hadn't ever left Ul'dah -- there didn't seem to be a lot of difference between Broti's babbling and that of Emmanellain beside him as they walked the Jeweled Crozier. The roegadyn had gone in search of supplies for their upcoming trek to the Sea of Clouds and the young noble had invited himself along; for whatever reason the man had latched on to Roaring's less-than-pristine overcoat and robes and had taken...not quite offense at their appearance but he certainly didn't approve.

When he'd bought this coat and these robes he'd primarily sought a set of specific criteria: first, they needed to be able to stand up under both enemy assault as well as the surge of aether from spellcasting. Additionally, they could NOT hinder his movement; he was capable of closing to melee or otherwise defending himself with his short blade when he was spent on spells (Roaring had started his life as a sailor, after all) and big, heavy, flowy garments would make him an easy target. How they'd looked, or how attractive one would consider them, hadn't even been a consideration.

Emmanellain seemed to think otherwise, and had Roaring been an Ishgardian native he imagined he'd personally care more; there certainly seemed a distinct sense of style here within the city but one "minor" detail the noble seemed to be either clueless of or was choosing to ignore was just how large Roaring Whisper was. He was as broad as three elezen and taller besides - where in the world did Emmanellain think he could find something that would remotely fit him? It would need to be a custom-tailored garment and considering his circumstances that would be well out of affordability even if he actually gave a damn about being fashionable.

"Look, old boy... We can't have anyone thinking Fortemps does not provide for its wards."

Roaring sighed and turned toward him, holding out his hands about as far apart as Emmanellain's shoulders, then pointedly widened them out to the width of his own.

Finally, the man seemed to get it. "Ah, yes, yes, that would be a problem if we were to seek just the stalls -- fear not! I know of a fine tailor-"

"I will look ridiculous," Roaring interrupted, tone flat (but, as ever, trying to keep his voice low). "Not all things can or should be sized up."

Scrunching up his lips Emmanellain seemed to actually stop and consider that. "You...perhaps have a point. Nevertheless! We shall find something suitable I'm sure."

At the man's elbow and slightly behind Roaring could see Honoroit giving him an apologetic look and he supposed there would be no end to the badgering if he didn't at least entertain the man's request for more "suitable" attire.

"Fine," Roaring sighed. "Lead on."

You'd think his nameday had come with how Emmanellain lit up with glee and eagerly spun around to lead them back the way they'd come. Resigned to wasting an afternoon looking like a buffoon Roaring followed along silently.
