PHOENIX — An agent with the Internal Revenue Service was shot and killed Thursday during a routine training exercise in north Phoenix.

Charlotte M. Dennis, a spokesperson for the IRS Phoenix field office, confirmed special agents were participating in the exercise at a firing range when the shooting happened.

The agent, whose name was not released, died shortly after arriving at HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center, Dennis said.

No other injuries were reported.

Dennis declined to give further details.

The range is on property that belongs to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. But because of an interagency agreement, other law enforcement agencies typically use the facility.

Officials with the FBI’s Phoenix field office said they will oversee the shooting investigation. The results will be turned over to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

Jenna was born in HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center at on April the 13th of 1987, the only child of hematologist James Ambrose and his choir director wife Karen. Her middle name is Carter because her parents thought she was a boy and they still wanted to use their “boy” name. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Jenna was a very imaginative child and would always make up big fantastical stories to entertain her parents and friends. Branching off of this, her favorite subject growing up was always English. She made straight-A’s in that class while having mostly Bs in other areas. She never got more than a C+ in math, except during her freshman year of high school. Even then, that was only because she had a really good teacher. She graduated high school with a 3.1 GPA before moving out to Providence, Rhode Island to attend college at Brown University. Unsurprisingly, she majored in Creative Writing. Being raised in her mother’s Catholic faith, Jenna experimented with many different beliefs whilst away. Buddhism was popular with her for a month or two. She was an atheist for about six months before she settled on Christian Universalism during her junior year. This is the faith she still follows today. Jenna graduated with a 3.6 GPA from Brown. Growing up, an admiration of Tony Stark settled in her heart.

It was also during her junior year that she met her future husband Michael Lane. He was 27 to her 21, owing to his deferring college for a while in order to enter military service. Michael was immediately taken by this eccentric, excitable storyteller and asked her out. Jenna’s paternal uncle Luke had died overseas when she was in middle school and they were very close growing up, so she was understandably hesitant to date a soldier. She said yes anyway and they had their first date on Jenna’s 22nd birthday at Don Jose Tequilas (a Mexican restaurant frequented by Michael and his pals). They hit it off and it got serious fairly quickly. The pair moved in together shortly after she graduated and got engaged that Christmas. Yes, Michael proposed on Christmas while he accompanied Jenna home for the holidays. Her parents had already met him when Jenna surprised them for Mother’s Day. They married on June 13th, just after her 23rd birthday. It was a small ceremony, the pair having a larger more traditional wedding in August. Both Jenna and Michael invited Tony Stark to the August ceremony. He was unable to attend but did give them a new car as a wedding gift in addition to a personalized video message of well-wishes. The couple settled in RI for what they thought to be the foreseeable future, but soon thereafter moved to Seattle, Washington as per Michael’s instructions. By the time Jenna published her first novel, the spouses were settled in Arizona. They’d already lived in California, Alaska, Alabama, and Florida in addition to the above.

Three weeks before Jenna’s 25th birthday, she found a publicist for her first novel, The Hollow Earth, about a group of humanoid reptilian creatures called the Vecesin. It wasn’t a bestseller by any means but it made respectable money and a sequel was soon commissioned. Around that same time, Jenna found out she was pregnant. The couple had discussed kids before but they’d decided they wanted to wait and enjoy married life a bit longer. Michael was a little hesitant but nonetheless ecstatic to be a dad. When Jenna was 13 weeks along, shortly after they started telling their families and friends the happy news, Michael was deployed once again. They kept in contact as much as possible and he cried when Jenna told him they were having a little girl in the new year. Sadly, when Jenna was in her 27th week, the couple lost contact. This absolutely wasn’t in her plan. As the young novelist lost herself in writing the sequel, continued radio silence from Michael led the family to assume the worst. A week before her Valentine’s Day due date, Jenna completed the manuscript for her new novel, The Hollow Earth: The Overworld. Jenna gave birth to her and Michael’s daughter, Charlotte Ambrose Lane (called Charlie), on February 21st, 2013 at 1:01 am following a relatively straightforward home birth. The baby weighed a healthy 9lbs 2 oz and was 21 inches long. The following May, despite her own heartache at the decision, Jenna declared her beloved husband dead in absentia, packed up her things, and moved to Albany, New York. A year after that, the pair moved to Washington, D.C.

Over the next several years, Jenna began using the exploits of the Avengers as the loose inspiration for the doings and lore of her own characters; for example, an older settlement of Vecesin worship a storm God not dissimilar in temperament to Thor.
