There wasn’t much to be said about Lara’s childhood except that on her 11th birthday, she received the news that her mother was pregnant again, which, she didn’t care much about because playing with her friends outside seemed more interesting than worrying about losing her place at the house. Besides, it wasn’t like she would have worried about her mother’s pregnancy at an advanced age as a ten-year-old girl, and when Sam was born, she was more than okay with helping around the house and picking up more chores so that her parents didn’t have to worry about it.
By the time she was sixteen years old, Lara decided to move out of her parents’ house and into an all-girls republic, simply because she knew she could, after all, her parents had kept their focus on Sam since his birth anyway. When it came to school, she wasn’t the smartest in her class, but she was definitely someone who worked hard, picking up advanced classes in the afternoon and using her tutoring hours to keep the subjects fresh in her memory, which would prove itself to be useful in the future. As a natural argumentative person and someone who enjoyed leadership positions, she was elected school president for her last two years of high school.
Moving away could have meant not being around when Sam was diagnosed with cancer, but Lara proved that not living under the same roof didn’t mean she didn’t care for her own. She would bring her books to study at the hospital while Sam did his chemo sessions, then she would spend some time with him at their parents’ house, just trying to do what she could to make him more comfortable.
She had applied for Yale in secrecy, like an inner challenge mostly to see if she would be accepted, because she knew that if she did, her parents wouldn’t have that kind of money to send her to Connecticut and keep her there for pre-Law and Law school, especially with Sam undergoing his treatment. So, when her letter of acceptance came, Lara went straight to her aunt and uncle to help her with tuition. Yale wasn’t a distant dream now. However, she didn’t adapt to the east coast and only stayed in there for her Pre-Law studies, then getting accepted in UCLA’s Law program. She was able to stay close to her family and still have an excellent education, which, in the future secured her a job at the district’s attorney’s office.

With his birthday coming soon, as well as Sean’s Seokli figured it would be nice if they could throw Sean a big birthday party now that he had some friends from the daycare instead of just his parents’ friends and family--which, the ladder was pretty much non-existent, with the exception of Hyun. But this year, Seok was thinking they could do something different--something that would require them to spend a little bit more of money, but at least, it would be worth it. Or so he thought it would.
After a shower, he put on some clothes, grabbed some bottles of Soju that he kept in his fridge for Hyun’s occasional visits or even Daehyun’s, then called an Uber to Honne & Colford because he wasn’t in the mood to venture into the wonders of public transportation at night. Once he’d arrived at her building, he rang the buzzer and was allowed in, taking the elevator to her floor. It was such a hot night, he hadn’t even bothered putting on a jacket to match his plain white t-shirt and black denim pants, and if he was going to drink Soju with Jinah, he knew it would only get hotter so hopefully, her windows were open so that the wind would circulate around her apartment.
Seok couldn’t help but to smile when she appeared on the other side of the door, and of course his heart skipped a beat, making him nervous that she would hear it although it was impossible. “Hi, Jinah... I know you told me not to bring anything but--” He said raising his bag and making the bottles clink against one another. “These were laying around in my fridge, so I figured I could bring us some Soju.” Once allowed in, he took off his shoes by her door, mostly out of habit when entering a korean home. “Where’s the little blabber? In his room?”

If you were to sum Hyde Floro up in one word, it would be ‘kind’. He was the type of person that would give another the shirt off his back without consideration, the last five dollars to his name if they needed it. He’d always been that way, regardless of the rough start he’d had in life. Born to addicts, he spent his first few weeks after birth recovering from the drugs in his system before he was put into foster care. There was no sense of stability or permanence, no one to truly look after him. It was okay — it was the only life he had known. Though he was a smart well-behaved kid, he was shy and quiet, and the older he got the less willing peopled seemed to be to take a chance on him. He spent years with a few good guardians and a few that weren’t so good. None of it turned him bitter or cold. As he bounced around homes and schools he held onto hope that one day a family would decide he was worth the patience it took for him to open up. He never found that family. Instead, he found Sarah. He was fifteen when he met her. She became his first real friend, the first person that seemed interested in knowing Hyde for the boy he was rather than his backstory. She was the first person that pushed him to let his walls down, and she was the first (and only) person he fell in love, madly in love, with. They were just kids, but it didn’t matter to them. They became high school sweethearts, the two of them against the world, and soon enough he was getting down on one knee. Months turned to years and that turned into a decade of breakfasts together. It was a blur. It was bliss. They had a life planned. They were going to reach their dreams, they were going to start a family and have everything they wanted. Hyde didn’t realize the mistake he was making by putting his everything into one person until it was too late, until her bags were packed and he was sitting in the house they’d bought together by himself, staring at a meaningless wedding band. He’d been told that it was better to have loved and lost, but it hurt in ways he could have never imagined. A pain so strong it was physical, left with nothing more than memories of the only person who could heal him. He would have went with her. He would have given up everything, given her everything. But she’d had a list of excuses. She didn’t want to settle. She’d put all that she had into their relationship. She wanted to find herself now, and he wanted her to be happy. Unfortunately for Hyde, she took his happiness with her. She was the only light he had ever known and without her presence, without her hand in his, he didn’t know who he was. He felt like a shell of a person. Coping the only way he knew how, he turned to throwing himself into work, shutting down again, sharing empty smiles and soothing the ache with alcohol. It wasn’t a permanent fix, but he told himself that it helped. His wife was gone, she’d taken the promised future with her, and the wound would never stop feeling fresh. He had no way to contact Sarah, to know if she was okay, and time didn’t make it easier. With every day that passed the longing for another chance to see her grew stronger. She was looking for things to complete her in other places and he was stuck in the place he’d always been, still holding onto hope that one day she would return. Hope was all he had left, and when that finally chipped away, Hyde didn’t know how (or if) he’d get by.

ABOUT RORY
AGE: 32 years
BIRTHDAY: 01/28/1987
OCCUPATION: Trauma Surgery Resident
GENDER: Cis Female
NEIGHBORHOOD: Honne & Colford
HAS BEEN IN WESTWICK: All her life
FACECLAIM: Jamie Chung
(–trigger warnings: n/a
To the youngest daughter of two very busy lawyers, life had never been the most interesting things. Rory and her older siblings had grown up with their feet buried in the sand, running around teasing each other and without a single care in the world. There wasn’t much that they couldn’t do, especially the only girl out of five children. Of course, being the only girl, also meant that Rory had to grow a thicker skin because her older siblings were always picking on her, nagging her and getting on her case like only siblings knew how to do. And crying to her parents wouldn’t be a good idea because they would only tell her to learn how to defend herself.
As a child, she’d always enjoyed doing so much at the same time, which made school be kind of a blur to her, ever since her early days. Despite having an excellent memory, which provided amazing grades and allowed her to graduate one year earlier, Rory was often found among friends, socializing and trying to make living memories out of the short years of her teenage life. Being a free-spirit and a restless soul, it was hard to see something she truly felt drawn to at first, especially when it came the time to choose something to study University-wise. All that Rory knew, was that she wanted to be anything but her parents. She would sneak out to party at an early age, she would run off to the beach, spend weekends at friends houses, however, all something deep inside of her kept pushing her towards a career in health. Probably due to spending most of her life at a hospital, keeping her best friend company as he received treatment for his heart condition. With Kai better health as her goal, she ventured herself into Pre-Med and eventually, Med School, to try and understand his illness better and to try and take better care of him.
Although she had gone into Med School with Cardiology in mind, something along the way pushed her towards the Critical Care area. Human lives were so fragile and Rory ended up enjoying the rush of adrenaline she’d get whenever new patients would come rushing through those doors, forcing her to keep herself on her toes and keep her attention sharp at all times. Of course, there were moments where losing patients would happen and Rory had suffered their losses along with their families, but the thrill of saving lives and being responsible for that first response outweighed the losses. Year after year, she battled sleep, exhaustion and her own fears and committed to this, to being her own person inside the hospital, to finishing her general surgery residency and going through all of the exams in order to get all of the required certificates that would allow her to become a trauma surgeon.
Rory is now finishing her fellowship program in Surgical Critical Care and works as a trauma doctor and general surgeon resident in Westwick’s County General. She’s thinking about switching to Browne Memorial once her program comes to an end, but there’s nothing set in stone yet.

ABOUT JIN-AH
AGE: 25 years
BIRTHDAY: 05/03/1993
OCCUPATION: Legal Receptionist
GENDER: Cis Female
NEIGHBORHOOD: Honne & Colford
HAS BEEN IN WESTWICK: Five years
FACECLAIM: Bae Suzy
(–trigger warnings: n/a
Success was always an important factor in the Min family. What was considered to be successful, however, varied. Being one of two children, it was something Jin-ah certainly grew to learn as she became older. First, it was academics. Getting into a professional career. And when that wasn’t enough, it was getting married. Settling down and creating a family. Jin-ah loved her parents dearly and she knew they meant well. But the more they pushed for her well-being, the more it drove her away. She wanted to do things her own way on her own time without feeling like she was letting them down. Without seeing that disapproving look on their faces each time she would come home with nothing new.
That was when she met Han-jae. He was older and honestly way out of her league, coming from a well-to-do family. But he was perfect. Well, the perfect solution to satisfy her parents wishes. It had started as her trying to flirt with him though he never reciprocated. And when he finally confronted her about her behavior towards him, she confessed it was all just to bring him home to her parents. Little did she know that he was fine with that idea. Sort of pretending to be with one another. It was fun. And it slowly grew into a friendship. Until Han-jae made the announcement that he was moving to Los Angeles, California.
Jin-ah was torn. It was a matter of following him to the United States, or falling short all over again and hitting rock bottom. Things had actually been going well, all things considered. Her parents were happy. She was happy. And moving wouldn’t be so much of an issue since she had already been studying English. What she hadn’t considered was whether Han-jae leaving South Korea was her invitation to come with. When she found out he had been planning without her, it stung. He wasn’t planning on including her in his adventure. It shouldn’t have mattered though. Not really. After all, they were only friends pretending to be some couple in love.
So, it became like another transaction. They could carry this out one step further and leave for California together. But after that, they could part ways. Jin-ah had no room to complain. This was what she had wanted from the beginning. And she had been the one to initiate it. Why did it suddenly sting though, knowing he had no true interest in being with her? She tried not to dwell on it and look on the bright side. California looked beautiful in pictures. And the world was her oyster. She wouldn’t let this little dilemma set her back. The opportunity was still there. Her parents didn’t need to know that once their daughter set foot on foreign land, she would be alone.
It took some getting used to but overall, it didn’t take long for the twenty year old to become adjusted to her new surroundings. She found a small apartment in a town by the name of Westwick and worked little jobs while looking into college. Jin-ah spent a few months still trying to maintain any type of relationship she could with Han-jae, whether it was because she truly felt alone or because she missed him, she wasn’t sure. He helped her for a while but as time wore on, their communication came to a stop.
Then she met Seok-li. It was like an instant breath of fresh air. He was goofy in his own way, and sweet. Initially, Jin-ah hadn’t found an attraction to him. She simply found comfort in him because he was easy to talk to and she felt like for the first time in a long time, she could truly be herself without hiding behind some sort of mask. But it was hard not to fall for him the more time she spent around him. And before she knew it, they were in a relationship and then they were expecting.
What classes Jin-ah had been in through the local college, she finished up the semester and dropped the next. She felt she needed to definitely focus on working and making sure she would be able to get by on her own, not wanting to rely on Seok-li to take care of her. However, when he made the offer for them to live together, it was hard to pass up. It only made sense, didn’t it? They had a baby on the way. Which meant things were serious. It wasn’t until Shion was born that Jin-ah realized just how much she may have fallen for Seok-li over the last year. She had never been in a real relationship before him. But she knew what she was feeling was so much more than she had ever felt for Han-jae—from a superficial relationship to something real.
That wasn’t to say everything was perfect, though. While Jin-ah never returned to taking classes, she found a better paying job in a legal office. And when Shion was nearly two years old, Jin-ah decided to move out. It was something that had built up over the last three years. The lack of communication, feeling like there was this barrier between her and Seok. It was exhausting to go from one day to the next and feeling like he was a completely different person. Maybe it was just a matter of her not understanding. But it was wearing her down and she couldn’t keep everything going for the three of them by herself—or so it felt.
Jin-ah took Shion with her and managed to find a place in Honne & Colford, being a family friendly neighborhood and a much needed change she hadn’t realized she needed once more. She tried not to dwell. Things were still okay between them. They worked out set times to decide who would have Shion on what days of the week. They were still friends. But Jin-ah focused her concern on raising her son and working to continue a better life for them.

ABOUT IAN
AGE: 36 years
BIRTHDAY: 08/13/1982
OCCUPATION: Editor in Chief of The Westwick’s Sun // Main Investor of Dragan’s Art Gallery
GENDER: Cis Male
NEIGHBORHOOD: Honne & Colford
HAS BEEN IN WESTWICK: Since he was 18
FACECLAIM: Sebastian Stan
(–trigger warnings: n/a
Ian was born in Romania, having all the chances to have a very educated childhood. His father, a very well known investor, had a large variety of interests, which made his son like very different things as well. After all, the wealthy life style was something he didn’t chose but that he quite enjoyed. But being a socialite wasn’t something Ian liked for his future, investing money and moving it from one place to another didn’t seem fulfilling, and despite his father’s words and desire that his child followed his steps, he admitted he couldn’t decide Ian’s future and when he requested to study in the States when he finished high school, his parents didn’t say no.
Why did he choose Westwick, of all places? He had no idea. It just happened. University in LA and then a simple life in Westwick was all he ever desired, even when he didn’t know it back then. Life was simpler, people didn’t expect much from him and he was able to look for his true passion; journalism. He loved writing, he loved finding information and sharing it with others, so when an opportunity came to join The Westwick’s Sun, he didn’t hesitate. Sure, it started as a junior position, doing everything others told him to and not writing what he wanted to write, but he knew it was about perseverance and that after a while, he would get to do what he truly loved. And he did. Managing to become the editor in chief, having control over what they wrote, how they write it and how did they want to share it with the world.
But he was his father’s son and he realized he also had a large variety of interests. He liked arts, he liked giving people the chance to share their works with the world, so he invested, just like his father had always wanted him to do, and three years ago he managed to open the Dragan’s Art Gallery, his pride and joy, a place where art meets people in a way that is accessible for everyone, not just the richer circles of town.
Maybe he has disappointed his father, maybe he hadn’t thought in large scale like he wished he did. Maybe his investments are just local and not as large and wide as the older Dragan would like, but Ian is happy. He doesn’t need the fame, he doesn’t need the worldwide recognition like his father still enjoys. He works for Westwick, and all he wants is for his little place in the world to shine like he always knew it could.
