hi! could you do a fluff prompt for shinwon of pentagon. w lines 26 + 31 if you're srill accepting?
I'm not gonna lie, I'm having feelings after writing this one. I think I made myself fall in love with Shinwon? Help. jk aren't we all in love with him already
26. “Please just kiss me already.” 31. “Are you flirting with me?” “You just noticed?”
The sound of about a dozen pairs of feet heading in your direction suddenly fills your ears. You put your phone in the pouch of your hoodie as you hear them getting louder. By the time you look in the direction of the sound, you see them–eight members of Pentagon and about a handful of staff members.
They had one of many performances for their new comeback scheduled today and your best friend, Changgu, had invited you to come wait for him in the back. You wouldn’t normally come to a scheduled activity like this, but you’re leaving for a month-long trip tomorrow and Changgu offered to help you pack tonight despite how full his day was. He was always lovely like that, going out of his way to help you without you even having to ask. Even when you would protest his help in favor of his own self-care, he would insist. It’s just how it goes with Changgu.
Changgu smiles when he sees you, waving at you from across the room while a couple staff members quickly remove any equipment or fragile accessories from him. The other members all nod, smile, or say their hellos to you, Hongseok taking the time to make small talk with you as he removes his own performance gear.
“I’ll be back in twenty! Going to change and wrap some things up and then we can go.” Changgu announces with a tap on your shoulder and a reassuring smile before he disappears through one of many doors and hallways littered around the room. You start to pull out your phone again to pass the time, but then you feel a warm body sitting next to you on the small couch. You glance over and see a smiling Shinwon. “Hi, beautiful.”
Your cheeks tinge pink, not expecting such a sweet name from such a handsome man–not that you’re complaining. “Oh, hi Shinwon.” Your voice is soft but confident and he seems to be able to pick up on that because his smile changes to one of intrigue. “I’m really happy you’re here,” he says, his tone sincere. Shinwon is always sincere but it feels different in a very nice way when his tone matches it. Your cheeks feel even warmer but you don’t want him to see how he affects you, knowing he’ll happily point it out for his own fun. You decide to respond to him without words, matching his smile instead.
“You look very nice.” He adds, making you very aware of the fact that you’re sitting beside him in sweats and sneakers and he’s dressed like a literal work of art. You giggle and scoff at him, tilting your head to look up at him through your lashes for dramatic effect. “Don’t flatter me.”
“What if I want to?” His quick wit catches you off guard as it often does. You just sit there for a moment, holding eye contact with him that he has no intention of shying away from. You feel like this can’t possibly be happening right now. The confident, alluring image they’ve been presenting on stage this comeback must be rubbing off on him in a big way.
“Are you flirting with me?” You ask, not letting the eye contact falter. “You just noticed?” He asks back, a small smirk forming on his lips.
You can’t help but beam, even though you roll your eyes at the same time. “You’re something else.” He’s definitely heard that before but he still grins like it’s the first time. It’s the first time from you and that’s the point. He glances at the clock on the wall and then stands up as if he has somewhere to be.
“Time for a smoke break.” Your face contorts in confusion. You know he doesn’t smoke. Even if he did, he wouldn’t do it here. “I need a bodyguard to come with me. Are you up for the job? When I look this expensive, I am a target for criminals. And anyone with good taste.” The smirk is back with the last sentence and as obnoxiously confident as he’s being, again, you can’t help but smile. “Sure thing. I wouldn’t want anything to happen to Changgu’s friend.” He appreciates the banter and offers you his arm.
As the two of you walk out the back of the building to an empty slab of concrete and alleyways, you suddenly feel the vibe change. You’re alone with Shinwon. No one can see you here and most don’t even know you’re here at all. Butterflies flitter about in your stomach. You never thought you would feel this much attraction to Shinwon. Of course, you’ve always thought he was incredibly handsome and one of the funniest people you know, but you’ve never been more than just playful friends with one another. In this moment, you feel like two people that are starting to see each other in a different light. It feels foreign, but good.
Shinwon turns to face you and you shrink back against the wall, your nerves getting to you a bit. “So, you’re leaving for a while?” He asks, not showing any recognition of your nerves as he looks at you the same way he did inside. You nod excitedly. You’ve been looking forward to your trip for months and it’s finally time. Shinwon’s frown pulls you out of your excitement and you wonder if something is wrong. “So I have to wait a month to take you on a date, then?”
“Shinwonnnn,” you whine playfully, wiggling your body in mock mini-tantrum. The truth is that you would love to go on a date with him but the feelings you’re having are overwhelming you and you don’t know how to accept them so you’re opting for playing them off. The bright, adoring smile on his face in response to you doesn’t help anything. It feels like the butterflies in your stomach will fly right out any second.
“What? Don’t you want to?” Goosebumps cover your body at the change of his tone. His question is asked low, slow, with more eye contact than you can handle in this already-exhilarated state. You realize he’s somehow closer to you now, his long waves falling over his face as he looks down at you. You forgot he’s asked you anything at all, your eyes taking in every beautiful feature of his face before settling on the pretty pink pout of his lips. They look so soft, inviting. If you just leaned in a little bit you could just–
No, that’s crazy. The blush on your cheeks from earlier has nothing on this new shade. You glance down, feeling embarrassed by the way you were overtly gawking at him. A choked gasp leaves your lips when you feel the soft red velvet of his gloved finger lifting your chin to meet his intense gaze once again. “Please just kiss me already.” The same low, honey tone makes you do as requested.
The kiss is short and sweet but full of possibilities. His lips are even softer than they look and you miss them the moment they pull away, though the giddy smile on his face almost makes up for it. You feel like you should say something, but what do you say after a moment like that? Shinwon takes it upon himself to break the silence, his mouth forming a sentence that you’ll never get to hear.
Changgu’s head pops out of the back door that squeaks loud enough to announce his presence. You’re grateful he didn’t open the door a minute sooner to see you kissing one of his many best friends when you’re meant to be there for him. You two are awfully close, yes, but you can explain that away much easier. To your relief, Shinwon handles the situation for you–something he seems to be doing a lot today.
“Thank you for lending y/n to me,” he starts as he walks back to the door, gesturing dramatically all the while. “She saved me from vile criminals during my smoke break. You really ought to give her a raise.” By the time he’s finished with his imaginative tale, his elbow is resting atop the shoulder of the one and only Changgu, who is looking at him like he’s insane. That probably happens a lot.
“...Okay.” Changgu laughs and shakes his head, not sure what is going on with Shinwon but deciding it’s most likely not worth the time investigating. “Y/n, are you ready? I placed a delivery order to your place so we should probably get there asap.” Reliable Changgu, even making sure you’re well-fed. You smile at him fondly and nod as you make your way back to him.
He’s already making his way back through the door when you reach him, undoubtedly on his way to grab his things so you two can leave. You follow after him but Shinwon stops you, his arm holding yours to him just long enough to whisper a reminder in your ear. “Think about what kind of date you’d like me to plan for us when you get back.” He smirks at you one last time before releasing you to tail your best friend in a Shinwon-induced daze.

Pentagon as Boyfriends
Hui is that Oppa who unknowingly conditions you to think about him all the time by bringing a snack to you every day, on his way to his cave (music room). I think Hui would love to show his aegyo to his partner, but also super reliable when he needs to be.
You can expect songs written about you to be sung by various A-list kpop artists. According to Pentagon Maker, Hoetaek likes his partner sexy, and based on Soojin (his ex), I think he likes someone who looks cold on the outside but is warm on the inside. Hoetaek will protect you with his life and try his best to shelter you from the negativities of the world. Despite his smol stature, he has a comforting pressure that makes you feel safe, regardless of the situation.
I think Jinho likes to pretend to be nonchalant but actually cares about you a lot. He knows he’s adorable, so he uses it to his advantage, especially when he knows he have made you mad. Like, how can you stay mad at this human?
You’ll spend a lot of time chilling at home, because jinho gives me massive grandpa vibes. Imagine falling asleep to Jinho serenading you after you woke up from a nightmare. Makes every scary dream worth it. Jinho is also quite sentimental so his bedroom wall will be plastered with photos of you throughout the phases of your relationship. He’d even jot down the date and a short description behind each photograph.
Hongseok is the sort of bf who makes you take the perfect Insta shot and then comments on his own posts with your account. Hongseok is fiercely loyal and protective of the ones he love. However, you are going to have to share your time with Hongseok with his regular workout sesh.
Nonetheless, Hongseok is a foodie and his cheat days are your best days. Expect to be chilling at a cafe with a book for a date. Hongseok is really intelligent and will probably prefer someone who can carry themselves well but also not to take themselves too seriously. Hongseok is a good mix of playfulness and seriousness. Definitely a steal.
Shinwon is the weirdo barista who is weirdly friendly to you, making you think that he is hitting on you. When you finally fall for him, you realised that he is just THAT friendly and cheeky to everyone. You’ll become friends and realise that you have a lot in common. As you get to know him better, you found out that there’s a more mellow, gentler side to his general wild quirky demeanour.
As he slowly begins to trust you, he lets his walls down and shares about his deepest thoughts. You naturally start dating and it’s great. Shinwon comes up with weird random date ideas that are sorta embarrassing but also endearing. Like wearing your pyjamas to a posh restaurant and pretending like everything is normal. He’s a weirdo, but he’s your weirdo.
I am soft for Changgu, so this is VERY difficult for me.
Changgu is the sort of boyfriend that every mother approves of. In fact, you gradually realise that your mum seemed to care more about your boyfriend than you. He’s great with the elders but he’s sorta awkward with kids. Although he becomes a 6 year old once he gets the hang of it.
Changgu is a hard worker so you know he will give his all into the relationship. Changgu can be a bit of an intellect and an air head at the same time. But one things for sure, he’d definitely be exasperated if you mess up the names of his beloved coffee beans. Changgu is the literal example of an angel’s face and a devil’s body. How this dorky boy next door pack so much muscles underneath his shirt will remain a lifelong mystery.
Changgu can be quite clumsy and sometimes makes you made without even knowing what he had done wrong. He’d try to make amends by being funny, only to make things worst. He’d be really concerned and begin to reproach himself for making you mad. However, in time, he will learn that couples learn together and he should not be so hard on himself. Changgu will revert back to his regular boyishly playful self in no time!
Oh Yanan! You’ll probably have to be the one who have to go after him. He’d be so clueless that he wouldn’t even know if you guys were flirting or just teasing as friends. Yanan is playful and insanely adorable. But you probably have to be prepared to baby him a bit as our Shanghai Prince had an extremely sheltered upbringing.
Nonetheless, Yanan is slowly gaining confidence and figuring his way through life. You’d be super proud of him the first time he does his laundry independently, his first food delivery, his first trip to the shops without getting lost. Dating Yanan will come as a package with 8 other grown men who will never stop worrying about him. As Yanan gets more comfortable with the idea of dating, he’d be really daring and surprises you all the time with how ferocious he can be. 😏
Yuto will be that senpai you had a crush on for your entire school life, thinking he’s that cold, athletic unattainable man. However, you got to know him better when you both landed the same part time job. You’d realised that Yuto is effortlessly funny and a massive softie. You’d come into work one day to find Yuto showing you an injured kitten whilst having the cutest saddest pout you’ve ever seen.
Yuto made a surprisingly long speech when he was about to quit his job and even teared a little. He then pulls you aside like the confident man he is and confessed his feelings. How can you say no to this chic beautiful man? Yuto will try his best to lead in the relationship but fumbles because he’s Yuto. It’ll be super endearing and any time spent with him is a good time.
Kino, our sensitive boy. Be prepared for him to confess with a self written poetry written on an artwork of his own. Kino has two distinct personas. Kino and Hyunggu. Kino is confident, chic and incredibly fashionable. Whilst Hyunggu is more mellow and basically a puppy. He’s Kino when he doesn’t smile, but naturally turns into Hyunggu when he smiles until his eyes disappear.
Hyunggu/kino is extremely down to earth and hardworking. He is sincere and genuine. You’d probably have met at a dance academy where you simply could not take your eyes off Hyunggu’s ability to make every choreography his own. Hyunggu is open and forward about his feelings, making him quite vulnerable at times. You’d want to protect this puppy with your whole life and treat him with extra care. Ultimately, Kino will be a great partner both inside and outside the bedroom. 😏😏
Wooseok is the best friend who has a huge crush on you for the longest time. Except, you have no idea because Wooseok is such a mate and does not express his feelings towards you at all. Nonetheless, if you pay attention, you’d notice how the littlest things you do makes his heart flutter. Like when you casually compliment his outfit or when you tenderly pat him on his head.
Wooseok is a big baby and actually loves to be babied. However, he also has a serious side to him which is incredibly hot. You’d struggle with your own feelings when you finally find out that Wooseok likes you. However, you will come to terms that you care greatly for our giant baby and have subconsciously loved him like a romantic partner. Dates with Wooseok would mostly be spent in the room, lazing around, watching Netflix, because Wooseok is such a massive homebody. To the point where it seems like he doesn’t put in any effort, however, he just simply love staying in and wanted to share his love with you.

Skinny Love
→ Pairing: Jinho x Female Reader
→ Genre: fluff.
→ Words: 1.3K
→ Contains: Friends to lovers; Jealousy; Roommates to lovers.
→ A/N: We loooved writing this, it's so cute 🥺🥺 thank you for the request, we hope you all like it!
When you started sharing your apartment with Jinho you didn't expect him to bring so many friends over so often, but they were all so nice and friendly that you became an acquaintance to the group. Tonight was one of those nights that they got together to brainstorm new ideas for work, and you assumed the role of the hostess, bringing food and drinks to the boys while they worked hard.
"Jinho is so lucky to have you as a roommate" Hongseok exclaimed, with a long sigh, holding your waist sideways in a childish hug when you brought them sandwiches.
"I know, right? These are delicious." Wooseok answered with his mouth full.
You patted Hongseok's soft hair and laughed.
"It's just food, guys, you are exaggerating"
"Y/n" Hui grabbed your hand, pulling you away from the other "please be my roommate, I want your food every day"
"I can't, sweetie, Jinho would starve to death without me" you cooed, running your fingers through his hair just like you did to Hongseok, and everyone laughed.
"Guys, leave her alone, we have work to do and she's not your maid, geez" Jinho rolled his eyes
You were taken aback by his attitude because you've never seen him acting like this before. And so apparently did everyone, the conversation dying and everyone awkwardly focusing again the their tasks.
The living room was packed, some of the boys even laying down on the carpet, and you found yourself a free armrest to sit down and quietly scroll through your phone as they did their thing.
Changgu rested a hand on your thigh to get your attention.
"Can you pass me that note pad" he whispered
You quietly did so, not missing Jinho's side-eye.
You were so confused with the way he was acting, the snappy remarks were never something that you were used to see coming from him. You were afraid your presence was doing that, getting in the way of their business, so you excused yourself to the kitchen, getting your mind occupied with the dirty dishes.
you were still bothered, feeling a little anxious about upsetting your roommate, so you sneaked a text to Kino, asking if he thought Jinho is mad at you. Mot 5 minutes later he showed up next to you
"I don't think Jinho is mad at you, y/n" smiling sweetly.
"You know you could've just texted me back, right?" You chuckled.
"Yeah, I just wanted an excuse for a break." He shrugged. "Seriously though, he's just stressed with work, I guess."
"You think so?" You pouted dramatically
"I'm sure of it. He's always gushing about you, he adores you, there's no way he would be mad at you" He reassured you "now, come on, you don't have to run away from us'
Kino grabbed your hand and pulled you back to the living room, ignoring your hushed protests.
"you're awful" you whispered to him when he only let go of you when you sat down again on where you were before.
"Anyway-" Jinho said a little louder.
You sank a little further into your seat, your phone buzzing right after it, with a text from Kino "stop worrying! Is not about you!". You looked at him, who was watching you and laughed quietly, shaking your head.
The rest of the night passed smoothly and now everyone was getting ready to leave. You started picking up after them, and Shinwon stood back.
"Let me help you." He offered.
"it's ok, I got this" you offered him a smile "thank you, though"
"Yeah, I can help her, don't worry" Jinho entered back, his tone a little dry.
"Ok…" Shinwon said awkwardly, scratching the back of his head" see you guys around then."
You pinched Shinwon's cheek, trying to ease the mood.
"You're the cutest" you cooed "I'll walk you to the door."
When everyone left, you and Jinho cleaned up the rest of the dishes and took the trash out, not exchanging words, and that didn't soothe your anxiety from earlier, especially the frown that didn't leave his face, and you decided to take a shower to relax a little bit.
He had already retreated to his bedroom when you got out, but you weren't happy with how things were left. You knocked softly at his door and he immediately told you to come in, and so you found him sitting in his bed, back resting against the headboard, earbuds hanging on his neck with some loud music coming from it.
"I'm sorry I bothered you guys earlier," you sat on the edge of his bed. "Next time you need a meeting I can go out to the library or something."
His features soften for the first time since they left, a small smile peaking at the corner of his lips.
"You never bother, y/n" his soft voice completely different from anything that happened earlier.
"Ok" your voice was almost a whisper, and you weren't sure what to do next.
It was Jinho who moved to sit by your side.
"I'm sorry if I was a jackass earlier, I didn't mean to be rude."
"No, it's ok, I understand."
"No, it's fine, I know it's not ok. I just…"
He took a deep breath, nervousness written all over his face. You ran your fingers through his hair, trying to calm him down.
"Don't be nervous, you can tell me anything." You said softly "I promise I won't be upset"
You were convinced that he was actually bothered by you intruding in his friend group, especially during work, so you were getting ready to be told off.
You pulled a strand of hair out of his face, realizing that he looked so cute with his hair growing a little longer.
"It is stuff like this, you know?" He held your hand that was touching him and clasped it securely between his both.
You didn't miss the way your heart skipped a beat.
"I saw the guys being so comfortable touching you, and you doing the same to them, I guess I just felt jealous."
"You don't have to be jealous, Jinho, and you can always feel comfortable with skinship, you know I'm a very touchy person."
"Yes, but I want you to be like that with someone else." He confessed.
You blinked a couple of times in silence, tilting your head in confusion.
"What do you mean?" You asked
"I love how affectionate you are and I basically melt when you touch my hair. And I hate seeing you do that to someone else."
Everything went quiet. The blush on his cheek was adorable and you had the impulse of planting a kiss on the soft skin where it rose pink.
Jinho's eyes widened but immediately after his eyes turned into two crescent moons that adorned the beautiful smile on his face before he returned the kiss, his warm lips on your cheeks making the butterflies on your stomach flip around.
You stared at each other with matching smiles, and you cupped his face, caressing it with your thumb. This time you two met halfway, and his hand shyly caught your waist. When your lips touched a tingly feeling ran through your whole body like it was waiting for that for a long time. The kiss was shy and soft, both of you uncertain of boundaries. It was Jinho who deepened the kiss when you sighed in content. Your fingers caressed his nape and his hand squeezed your waist. He pecked a couple more times before leaning back to look at you.
"You won't do that to the other boys too, right?" He asked with a pretty smile, making you chuckle.
You kissed him again before answering
"What are you asking me, Jo Jinho?" Your grin was hard to hold back
"I'm asking if you would like to kiss me more times?" His charming ways made you swoon. "Maybe go on a date with me?"
"You're something else." You smiled and shook your head.

Wonwoo: Atlas
Characters: Wonwoo x female reader
Genre/warnings: mafia au, angst, little bits of fluff here and there but it just adds to the angst tbh, alcohol, smoking, Woo being depresso
Word count: 2,632
Summary: Atlas shrugged his shoulders, said he'd drop that boulder. Call me in the morning when I'm sober, find me in the corner in a coma.
a/n: this was inspired by the song atlas by keshi (and if u like sad boy vibes i highly recommend his music!!!). things in italics are flashbacks (also i didn’t even listen to atlas for half of this i just listened to call me kevin play the sims lmao) ALSO im doing 2 other keshi songs (probably for mingyu and hongseok but idk) and while this technically is a mini series using keshi songs, they won’t be a continuation of this fic. they’re going to be their own lil things. ok that’s it goodbye
2 soon | the reaper
Limping down the street, the streetlamps being the only source of lighting, Wonwoo’s mind couldn’t help but wander. There were no cars going by at this time of night, not even a cool breeze to listen to the shaking leaves in the trees. The street was dead silent other than his heavy footsteps as he tried to make it home on his own. He was sure God or whatever higher power out there was out to get him lately since on top of everything else, his car had broken down and he was left to walk the rest of the way after calling Mingyu to make sure someone would get the car.
Had anyone been walking around this time of night, they’d probably call the police seeing Wonwoo awkwardly walking down the street with his hurt leg. Despite the nice suit, it was unbuttoned, slightly torn, and stained with splatters of blood. His white shirt underneath was half undone and splattered with blood as well, his tie was hanging loosely around his neck, his hair was disheveled, his right eye was beginning to bruise, and the left corner of his lip was caked with dried blood. There was a trail of dried blood going from his nose to his top lip as well, and his tired expression only added to his awful appearance.
“Oh my god, Wonwoo!” you gasped when you spotted him from the window, Joshua and Minghao rushing out behind you.
It was one of the first times he’d come home beaten up. You didn’t know about his line of work when you’d first started dating, but when it began to become more serious, he had to break and tell you. Finding out your boyfriend was in the mafia worried you for obvious reasons, to a point where for a while, two of the men he worked with had to stay at the house with you to make sure you didn’t go off trying anything stupid. But you did often pace the kitchen, checking out the window that faced the street to see when his car pulled in. And one night, you saw him be helped out of the car by Seungcheol because Wonwoo was so beaten up.
“It’s okay, baby,” he reassured you as you rushed to him.
“Careful, careful,” Seungcheol warned, not wanting you to throw yourself into him or anything. Jeonghan had just stitched up his gunshot wound, but Wonwoo made him swear not to tell you that much.
“What happened?” you asked, looking him over. He looked about as messy as his clothes, and that was saying something since he was missing his jacket he left the house with, and his shirt was barely hanging onto his body by thin threads. You moved to Wonwoo’s other side, putting his arm around your shoulders. “I’ve got him.”
Seungcheol carefully leaned your boyfriend’s weight onto you, letting you practically carry the poor man inside. Wonwoo managed to smirk at how worried you were. He knew it just meant you cared, and that meant the world to him.
“You’re so cute,” he chuckled, which then turned into coughing that only worsened your anxiety about his injuries. “Let the boys handle it, okay? I’ll be fine.”
You scoffed, “Not a chance.”
Wonwoo pulled a carton of cigarettes from his pocket, taking a cigarette and a lighter out from the pack. He put it between his lips and lit the end before taking a long drag and letting the smoke waft out from his mouth. His eyes locked on the driveway of his house as he recalled how many times you’d dragged him inside, sat him down on the couch or leaned him up against the sink in the kitchen and patched him up. He smiled fondly, remembering all the times you’d scolded him for so long until you were just repeating yourself, only to sigh and say, “You know I love you, right?”.
But now, he walked up the driveway alone. Despite his limping, there was nobody to carry him home. He had to push himself up the steps, pausing on each one to brace himself for the next. He walked into the house, expecting the echo of his footsteps that he was used to even during your relationship, but not used to the emptiness he felt in the house. At least when his shoes would hit the hardwood as he walked to the bathroom to clean himself up, he knew you were upstairs. But now, he knew he was the only one in the house, and that was a new feeling. A new but vaguely familiar feeling of being alone. He was alone before you, but he was so accustomed to your presence that he forgot what it was like to not have anybody there when he came home.
“Wonwoo--”
“Go back upstairs,” Wonwoo huffed, trying to get to the basement while Junhui and Mingyu helped him.
This time it was worse. You were used to him coming home later, so you no longer wasted an hour or two pacing by the kitchen window, but instead waited until you heard the heavy sound of his boots against the hardwood in the hallway, going toward either the kitchen or the bathroom. He wasn’t always hurt, but this time, he was in worse shape than he’d let you know. That was why there were more men with him.
“But--”
“_____,” he growled, his eyes glancing up at the stairway you were now frozen on. He’d used this voice before -- only a handful of times to show he was serious and didn’t want to fight you on whatever it was -- but it always made you freeze completely where you were. “Go.”
Mingyu and Jun continued to help him to the basement, Seungcheol and Soonyoung following behind them. You waited until you heard the basement door close before dropping your head and going back up the stairs to your room.
Glancing away from the staircase, Wonwoo continued down the hall to the kitchen. He grabbed the bottle of bourbon he left unfinished on the counter before going for the basement door. He threw it open, not bothering to close it behind him because there wasn’t a point to anymore. He was lucky he managed to get down the stairs without falling down them before he went over to his little corner where his desk was. They’d used the basement for plenty of things before, but it was mostly where he kept his ‘business things’. That’s why you weren’t to go down there -- not that that didn’t stop you from checking on Wonwoo from time to time when he had locked himself away down there.
Wonwoo flopped down in his chair, opening the bottle and taking a swig. He stared across the room, trying to grasp the reality that he was alone in the house. He wasn’t sure when it would finally sink in, but it hadn’t yet. It had been a month and he still had himself thinking he could hear your footsteps as you tried to sneak downstairs to check on him, or the shower running with your soft singing drifting from under the door. But the harsh truth was that you were gone an he was just imagining these things.
At first when he got home, you were the first thing he would check on. He wanted to know about your day, what you did, how you were feeling. He was grateful when you had dinner made for him -- even if it was cold by the time he got home -- and loved relaxing on the couch or in bed with you when he got home. But he slowly started seeing you less and less. He didn’t see you most days at all, so you looked forward to the nights. But more often, he started politely turning down dinner to go the basement -- that eventually turned into straight-up ignoring it to go do more work at his desk. Instead of checking up with you, he started going straight to the bathroom to clean himself up before silently grabbing a small snack and retreating to the basement until you were already fast asleep and he was crawling into bed for 2-3 hours of sleep. It got to a point where you barely saw Wonwoo at all.
And as Wonwoo took another drink right after letting out more cigarette smoke, he knew it was all his fault. He got too caught up in his job. He loved you, but he didn’t realize he wasn’t showing it like he should’ve. He made you feel unloved and forgotten and overlooked. It wasn’t a 50/50 situation, it was 100% his fault that you left him.
He put out his cigarette in his ash tray and eyed the bottle before he put his feet up on his desk and took a longer drink this time.
-
“Wonwoo,” he heard your voice in his ear, trying to shake him awake after another late night. But he had the day off today, and you were excited to spend every moment with him that you could. “Wonwoo, wake up!”
A smack to his cheek had his eyes shooting open as he let out a gasp.
“Jesus Christ, Wonwoo,” Mingyu breathed, sitting back as he realized the older man was awake, “I thought you were fucking dead. How much did you drink?”
Considering the slap Mingyu gave him didn’t hurt as bad as the metaphorical slap that his awful reality gave him, clearly not enough.
“None of your business,” Wonwoo slurred as he struggled to keep his eyes open, definitely hung over from drinking until he passed out -- again.
“You need to stop doing this,” the younger boy sighed, giving Wonwoo a stern look, “not even just because Seungcheol’s fed up with it, but because it’s not healthy.”
“What does it matter?” he grumbled, refusing to get up. Instead, his hand searched the floor for his bottle of alcohol.
“Will you stop with that shit? Come on, Wonwoo, _____ leaving doesn’t mean the end of the world!”
“Have you ever been in love?”
When Mingyu was silent, Wonwoo scoffed, “Yeah, that’s what I thought.”
“Well it was still your own fault she left you,” Mingyu stated, rolling Wonwoo onto his back with his shoe. “You said it yourself, so you can’t say it’s not true. You neglected her and now you’re throwing yourself a pity party when you did it to yourself.”
“Get out of my house,” Wonwoo groaned, deciding to cover his ears instead of search for the bottle of bourbon.
“You’ve been pulling this shit every fucking day for a month,” Mingyu spat, ignoring how obviously annoyed Wonwoo was getting. Everyone was annoyed with Wonwoo’s behavior so this was only fair. “Someone always has to waste their time and come here to make sure you didn’t drink yourself dead.”
“Then stop checking!” Wonwoo shouted, finally peeling his eyes open to glare up at Mingyu. “Go the fuck away!”
“Leave me the fuck alone!”
As soon as the words were out of his mouth, he wanted to take them back. You stood in front of his desk, your own angry expression dissipating and being replaced with hurt instead. The two of you had been arguing because he’d been so distant, and while you understood that the basement was where he got more work done, you didn’t see the need for him to continue working when he was away ‘working’ all day. But his anger bubbled over and now he’d crossed the line.
“Wait, _____--”
You just shook your head at him, eyes filling with tears as you rushed to go back upstairs. Wonwoo called for you to come back, but you just ignored him, slamming the basement door closed. Wonwoo groaned and sat down in his chair, rubbing over his face with his hands.
That was definitely the biggest push for you to leave.
And now here he was, in the same room his life started falling apart. Why couldn’t he wake up to you like he thought he was? Better yet, why couldn’t he wake up and have everything just start over? He wanted to go back to when things were good and he wanted to keep them that way. But life didn’t work that way. It couldn’t just reset, it just kept going.
But Mingyu had to be a nuisance and interrupt Wonwoo’s dreams where everything was actually going well and he was happy.
Mingyu sighed, taking a seat in Wonwoo’s desk chair. He rested his elbows on his knees, running his hands through his hair. Why did Seungcheol have to send him to check up on Wonwoo? Why not Seungkwan or Seokmin? Somebody who had people they loved and could relate to Wonwoo? No offense, but Mingyu didn’t give two shits about Wonwoo’s broken heart.
“Look,” Mingyu said a bit softer, trying to be more level-headed about this, “I get you’re upset and you’ve never had to deal with heartbreak so you don’t know how to cope. But with this kind of...lifestyle, you should really need to come to terms with the fact that nothing will ever really go the way you planned it to.”
“That isn’t good advice,” Wonwoo sighed, not even trying to sit up. His eyes had even closed again, so Mingyu knew the older man didn’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. “Just go.”
Mingyu stood, rolling his eyes and fixing his suit jacket, “Seungcheol’s going to be pissed, y’know.”
“Good for him.”
“Whatever,” Mingyu sighed. “I’ll send Seungkwan tonight to make sure you haven’t slipped into a coma or something.”
Wonwoo only hummed in response, waiting until he heard the Mingyu’s footsteps go up the stairs before closing the basement door. Then he finally pushed himself up off the floor, stumbling the whole time. But it was only to retrieve the bottle of bourbon with only a little left at the bottom. So he took the bottle, wobbled his way up the stairs to the kitchen to get another, and then carried on to the living room, finishing off the first bottle.
“Well, well, well,” you grinned seeing Wonwoo emerge from the basement. He was still in his ‘work’ clothes, but everything was undone to make it a little more comfortable for him since he was at home, “look who decided to show up.”
“What’re you watching?” he mused as he wandered into the living room and glanced at the TV. “Wheel of Fortune?”
You shrugged, “It’s 2am.”
“Eh, it’s not the worst show,” Wonwoo sighed as he let himself drop back onto the couch beside you. He normally would’ve scolded you for staying awake so late, but it was a Friday night so he couldn’t give any excuses as to why you needed to be in bed. Besides, he wanted to hang out with you for a bit before he was way too exhausted. “Did you eat?”
“Yeah,” you nodded, shifting so you were leaning into your boyfriend’s side.
You kept your eyes on the TV, playing along like you had been before. You still continued to say your answers out loud despite Wonwoo sitting right there, but he merely chuckled. He thought it was kind of cute.
You were so immersed in the show that you didn’t even feel his gaze on you for the last five minutes.
“_____.”
“Hmm?”
You turned your head to look at him, seeing him smiling at you with so much fondness.
“I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
Wonwoo opened the second bottle as he stared at the TV, his reflection in the black screen reminding him that he was alone -- not just on the couch, but completely, utterly alone.
He put the bottle to his lips.
