Tumblr media
"I'll be fine, Gyu, I'm right down the street anyways."
These were the last words you spoke before you made your way out of the cramped living room and into the front yard. It was your best friend Yeonjun's idea to come to this party--something about his friend's frat throwing it--but squeezing between hordes of drunk people wasn't exactly how you were planning to spend your Halloween. Yes, you would do almost anything to please him, but that was before that weird guy dressed as Maverick from Top Gun tried to grind on you.
You would've told Yeonjun that you were going home if you could find him, but after a few minutes of searching and multiple missed calls and unanswered texts, you figured it might be better to just leave. If he got upset, at least there would be a trail of proof of your efforts. Honestly, he was probably preoccupied with that nun you had seen latched onto him earlier in the night.
Admittedly, you were a little bit disappointed in how quickly your best friend had lost you in the crowd. You were honestly hopeful that tonight would be a fun time. A "great way to let off some steam," as Yeonjun had put it when he was initially convincing you to come. Now, you think you're remembering why it's been so long since he was able to drag you out from the comfort of your couch like this.
Wrapping your jacket a little bit tighter around you as a small breeze blows by, you think about the cup of tea you're going to make when you get home. You'll change into your pajamas, clean the makeup off of your face, and put on a Halloween movie while you snuggle up in front of your tv. The daydream you put yourself in takes over your mind, and you don't even notice the figure trailing behind you.
Footsteps approach you, and you get the feeling that something is off. Right as you whip your neck around to look at your surroundings, you feel a blow delivered to the back of your head. Dazed, you watch with blurry eyesight as the asphalt rushes up to meet you, knocking all of the air out of your lungs.
"What's happening? Is this it?" you think to yourself while staring blankly at the sky with half-lidded eyes, the world spinning around you.
A figure comes into view, looming above your frame. A white mask with black lips and a black heart around the eye stares down at you. They tilt their head, studying your crumpled form.
"P-please…" you manage to squeak out, willing your head to stop pounding so you can do something-- anything.
The figure knelt beside you, their arm resting on their leg. You notice a metallic glint from their hand, and quickly realize that they're holding a knife--either a bowie or a chefs; you couldn't tell. The person raises the sharp object up to your neck, softly trailing it down to your collarbones. You can hear faint breathing behind the mask, and you listen to your own labored breath. The sound grounds you, and you summon all of the adrenaline and strength you possibly can. You slowly and carefully go for the little pocket knife on your keys.
"I won't die like this."
Suddenly, you bolt up, swinging your arm at your assailant. You manage a small cut on the right side of their neck, and you hear a short hiss as they stumble back and reach up to feel the laceration.
You don't waste any time as you sprint off, thankful that your apartment complex is only about a block away now.
You don't look behind you, knowing that it will only slow you down. Instead, you focus all of your energy into running, using every bit of strength to get your keys ready as you approach your door. Fumbling to quickly put the little piece of metal in the lock, you spare a glance in the direction that you came from, expecting to see the masked figure running towards you. You're surprised when you see… nothing. Nobody was there, chasing after you.
Confused, but still on high-alert, you quickly make your way inside and lock the door behind you, collapsing on the other side in fatigue, your breathing labored. Tears begin streaming down your face as you dig your phone out of the pocket of your costume, calling the first person that came to mind.
When Yeonjun still didn't answer, you called Beomgyu, hoping and praying to any deity that would listen that he would pick up.
"Hey, did you make it home safe?" you hear Beomgyu on the other end of the line.
"Gyu…" you sob through the phone.
"What? What happened? Are you okay? What's going on?" his voice turned frantic, and the music from the party fades away as you presume he stepped outside to hear you.
"Please come over" you manage to get out.
"I'm on my way."
~~~
The next day, you don't wake up until you hear Yeonjun enter your apartment, assuming Beomgyu called him and let him in.
You slowly raise your head from your brown couch, where you guess you ended up passing out last night. You don't remember much after unlocking the door for Beomgyu and trying to tell him what happened. You faintly recall him helping you file a police report, but you weren't sure. You really hoped you didn't have a concussion from that hit to the head.
"Oh my God, y/n, are you okay?" Yeonjun asks, quickly crouching next to you by the couch.
"I… I'm alright." you reply hoarsely, your throat raw from crying.
"Beomgyu told me everything, I'm so sorry I didn't pick up the phone. This is all my fault."
"Don't blame yourself, Jjun. I'm okay now, everything is fine."
"No, I-I should have been there for you. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry."
Yeonjun grabs your hands in his larger ones, looking down at them as he whispered his apologies repeatedly.
You remain quiet, thinking over the events that occurred last night. You're still shocked that something like that happened to you. Getting attacked like you did… that's something that happens in the movies. Something that you hear about on the news, but never something that happens to you.
Beomgyu comes back over to the couch, and you look to him as he stares softly down at you and Yeonjun.
"Are you going to be okay? If you want me to stay, I will." He speaks gently.
Although you were worried that the person from last night might've seen where you live, you ultimately decided that it'd still be okay with just one friend here to watch over you.
"I think I'll be okay now, Yeonjun will take the next shift" you say jokingly, trying to lighten the mood. Humor had always been your coping mechanism.
With a smile that didn't reach his eyes, Beomgyu responds "as long as you're sure. Jjun, will you guys be okay?"
Yeonjun looks up at him, still grasping your hands. He nods slightly, eyes bloodshot from tears unshed.
With a nod and another smile towards you, your other friend makes his way to the door, putting his shoes back on as he takes his leave.
The door clicks shut, and you look back to Yeonjun, still crouched in front of you.
"Hey, c'mon, get up. There's no use dwelling on it like this, right?" you say softly to him. You have always been the one to make sure everybody else was okay before you, and you couldn't help but take on that role now, even after everything that had happened.
The man in front of you looked up at you and nodded, slowly standing up to sit next to you on the couch.
"Is there anything I can do for you? Are you hungry? Thirsty? You must be thirsty, right? You haven't had any water yet today, I'll go get you some water." He rambles as he stands up and paces over to your small kitchen. You try to fight the smile on your lips at his caring nature, watching as he retrieves your favorite blue mug from a cabinet.
You turn towards the TV in front of you, reaching for the remote on the coffee table. Maybe a movie will take your mind off of everything. It would probably be best to just forget about it. Like you said, no use dwelling on it--what's done is done. Now all you could do is wait for the police to do their job and bring your attacker to justice, but you didn't have high hopes.
You hear Yeonjun click the lock closed on your front door and feel thankful that he's looking out for your safety. He comes back and settles next to you on the couch, handing you your water.
"Here, drink up. You have to be dehydrated after the night you had."
You thank him quietly as you take the water, slowly sipping it before downing it, realizing just how thirsty you are. He watches to make sure you finish it, then gently takes the mug from your hands, setting it on the table in front of you.
"What are we watching?"
You think for a moment before responding with "I'm not sure, maybe something Disney? I think that would be the most comforting right now, I don't know if I'm up to start something new."
He nods in understanding, and you eventually decide on a movie from your childhood.
Maybe thirty minutes into the movie, you pulled the blanket from the back of the couch onto you, then immediately kicked it off, then pulled it back on, frustrated. It was if you were too hot and too cold at the same time. Yeonjun looked over at you, concern etched onto his face.
"Are you feeling okay?" he asked gently.
You nodded, but suddenly noticed how dizzy you were becoming, nausea overtaking you. Maybe that hit to the head is having some nasty aftereffects?
You glance away from the TV towards your best friend, breathing getting slower. Why was it so difficult to move? And why is Yeonjun smiling?
"Jjun… wha- what's happening?" you say, your speech slurring together.
Just then, while getting a good look at him, you notice a little cut on the right side of his neck. It looks relatively fresh, as if he only got it within the past 24 hours.
"Oh, Love, use that pretty brain of yours. I know you're smart enough to figure this out." he said, his tone mocking.
You stumble up from the couch and try to head for your front door, but your reaction time has dulled down, and you're having trouble moving. You fall to the ground as your legs give out beneath you.
Yeonjun stands up and walks over to you slowly, his hands in his pockets. He has a smirk on his face as he peers down at your frame on the ground. He's starting to get blurry, and you panic. You feel like you're about to hyperventilate, but your body won't let you, everything going slower.
"Oh y/n, if only you knew how much I love you… you'd never want to leave my side. But now you're mine, and I'll make sure nobody will ever take you away from me."
thank you for reading!! <3
OK, the game freaked me out real hard bc when we came back through the portal there were NO companions in camp other than the ones I had brought with me, and I thought we were about to be in a Mass Effect 2 situation where they all got kidnapped by the githyanki attackers and we'd have to go rescue them.
But they're back after a long rest! And, unsurprisingly, Lae'zel and Shadowheart both have exclamation marks on their head because holy shit y'all some shit just went down and everyone's freaking out.
I'm very scared to talk to Lae'zel cos I think she's gonna yell at me but I guess we might as well get it out of the way first.
Tumblr media
"Your parasite communes with Lae'zel's. Her heart races as she learns of the events inside the Astral Prism."
Honestly, the tadpole and its implications are terrifying but its utility as an Exposition Expedient is unparalleled.
Tumblr media
"Orpheus," she whispers, her voice somehow even more raspy than usual. "Gith's only son. He lives. It is not the ghaik visitor that Vlaakith would destroy and Voss would set free - it is Orpheus. The Blood of the Mother, the Prince of the Comet."
OK. No yelling yet. This is good.
Tumblr media
"A mighty powerful prince, if he can block out an illithid hivemind," Hector says cautiously.
(A/N: I just realized it threw me off a bit that they're having this conversation in daylight. XD I got very used to the eternal night of the shadow-cursed lands I guess.)
Tumblr media
"And even more powerful still," Lae'zel agrees. "It's said he could bring a thousand githyanki to their knees with one command. Listen close - the Emperor spoke only in half-truths. For you to know the tale of Orpheus, you must know the tale of Gith, and of Vlaakith."
OK not only is Lae'zel not yelling at him, but she's giving him a history lesson. This is going far better than I hoped. XD This is practically BFFs behavior given who we are talking about.
"Long ago," she goes on, "when we rose up against our ghaik slavers, Mother Gith made for the Hells to secure an alliance with the archdevil Tiamat. Tiamat gifted the githyanki our red dragons. Gith remained in the Hells and Tiamat's envoy proclaimed Vlaakith our ruler. The first Vlaakith of many. It is Vlaakith One-Five-Seven whom my people now call 'queen'."
Hector blinks, bemused. "One hundred fifty-seven? That's a lot of Vlaakiths."
If the humor registers with Lae'zel at all, she doesn't show it. "Yes. Our current queen has claimed undeath and reigned for a thousand years. But it was the first whom Orpheus tried to slay. Orpheus was - is - Gith's only son. He led his mother's own honor guard in a coup against Vlaakith One. It was Kith'rak Voss himself who slayed the prince in vicious battle. Or so the varshes teach us."
She hesitates, confusion flashing across her face. "Yet the Prince of the Comet's been with us, subdued by that repugnant illithid. Should Orpheus go free, he would tear Vlaakith's empire to pieces and build new glory from the scraps."
Hector frowns. "What happens now?" he asks carefully. He is certain Lae'zel has a strong opinion of the right course. At his moments of greatest confusion, she has always been a decisive voice to help him see a path, even if it was not the one he ended up choosing.
"We meet Voss in the city. And we obtain the key to freeing Orpheus from his prison," she says matter-of-factly, without hesitation. "Every word Voss spoke, he spoke true. Orpheus is the living proof of the queen's lies, and the living weapon that conquered our ghaik slavers. One word form his lips and the people would doubt. Two words, and they would rage. Three words, and they would bow to the True Heir."
She straightens, squaring her shoulders. "If the githyanki are to be free, the Prince of the Comet must lead the way."
It's a pretty big change from the dogmatic soldier she used to be. She has come a long way, he thinks with a flash of strange pride. As have we all.
That said, it's dangerous ground she proposes treading. Orpheus as he currently stands is the key to their survival - Hector isn't opposed to freeing him, necessarily, but they need some other way to protect themselves from the Absolute if it's going to go on the to-do list.
Unfortunately we don't get the chance to discuss that aspect with her right now.
girl, you a swiftie too!! 🥺 🤩👌
ok, what is ur ride-or-die, hands-down perfect taylor song for Jacinter?? (cuz they're my fave couple 😝😝)
omg i have so many is that okay😭? i cant pick
mary's song (oh my my my) - this is THEEEEE childhood best friends to lovers trope and EVEN THE AGE GAP IN THE SONG FITS!!!! that lyric thats like 'and I'll be eighty-seven / you'll be eighty-nine / I'll still look at you like the stars that shine' is SO jacinter coded bc they're also 2 years apart!!!!! 17 and 19!!!!!!!!
i'm only me when i'm with you - bc they can only be themselves when its just them, usually winter has to be in the role of a reserved and compliant princess and jacin has to be the heartless obedient palace guard, but when they're together they can be somewhat normal
come in with the rain - this song reminds me of when winter is in her bedroom hoping that jacin will leave his post outside her door and go to her. and the lyric 'i've watched you so long / screamed your name / i don't know what else I can say' is winter constantly trying to get jacin to admit how he really feels, but obviously because of their situation he couldn't say😔
gold rush - honestly this song works for any winter couple paring because she is THE gold rush,, its about the idea of somebody (jacin) being enamoured by somebody that everybody wants, because they're so beautiful. and heres one of the parts of the book winter that reminds me of this:
Tumblr media
its so perfect for them
peace - winter thinking about how she could never give jacin peace if they were together because she'll always have her lunar sickness tormenting her (i think of this to be before she gets the bioelectricity security lock)
you are in love - ohhh i love this song for them,, its all about falling in love and theres some specific lyrics that are so perfect like 'he says, "look up" / and your shoulders brush / no proof, one touch, but you felt enough' isn't this lyric soo reminiscent of that scene where winter is sitting next to jacin while he's on guard duty, and she really wants him to acknowledge her (but he's not allowed as he's on duty) so he briefly brushes his fingertips on her hair so show her that he feels the same way and wishes they could communicate too😭 AAAND THAT LYRIC 'Pauses, then says "You're my best friend" / And you knew what it was, he is in love' which is another bffs to lovers lyric ahhh, and theres all those lyrics in the song about how you can see they're in love in the silence, and its just an unspoken thing that they're both aware of, SO JACINTER
Can you not do post titles on mobile? Bizarre. Anyway, this is just more thoughts about Veilguard, now that some time has passed since my first playthrough.
After my first playthrough of Veilguard, I tried to go back and play again. Typically, the different choices and love interests (and world states) can wrangle at least a good four playthroughs out of me before I decide to move on to something else.
This time, I'm almost considering ending it at one.
What changes between Veilguard playthroughs? My world state is virtually the same no matter what I pick in the CC; for the factions, reactivity is minimal and only a select handful of factions even feel like they're worth playing as to see what changes. If you're an elf, you're some amalgamation of a Dalish/city/other elf and have no real clear way of even setting your background to begin with (which is a bit of a problem for every Rook, but it especially stands out for elf!Rook IMO).
And the romances... to say I'm disappointed with what I've seen and heard would be an understatement. I've seen so many people zealously praising and defending the way that Veilguard handles its romance and I can't even begin to fathom how or why, when you compare it to how it was handled in other Dragon Age games. Admittedly, my first romance was Lucanis and I've heard he's worst off, but comparing notes with friends has shown that even for the "best" romances, it just feels like things are missing. BioWare devs were boasting about this being their most romantic game yet; Lucanis in particular was described as a "bisexual disaster" (and I'll get into him more in a bit). But I saw no proof of either of these things in the game.
Every major issue or faction in Veilguard was entirely defanged. The Crows are your friendly neighborhood watchdogs; the Lords of Fortune are "good" pirates who would never ever steal anything culturally significant to anyone else (this is where I stare pointedly at their leader, Isabela. Can I buy that she's more careful after DA2? Maybe, since apparently they canonized her being BFFs with Hawke and returning despite them claiming they wouldn't invalidate world states*. Do I think she bothers checking everything she finds to make sure it's okay to take? Hell no).
They didn't even take full advantage of the hooks their characters naturally had in their backstories! Lucanis is, essentially, heir to the Crows (or at least one of their houses); he brings up his restrictive life once over coffee, and you get some stuff in the mind prison quest I guess, but outside of that he's more well-adjusted than literally any of the DA2 companions despite being possessed by a demon of Spite! Who was horribly underutilized, by the way; his main job seemed to be to sniff and growl at things like a tiny and ineffectual dog. I have no idea why any of the companions were worried about him being a problem in the slightest, because after making that nosebleed happen super early on, he did literally nothing! He didn't even kill Illario or cause any problems at all!
Honestly, I have so much to say and basically none of it is good. I liked how they handled Solas (and his reunion with Lavellan). I liked the Mourn Watch. It was a very pretty game and combat was fun. That's about it and every time I play more of the game it makes me like it less because I notice more things that just don't hold up.
I might talk about it more when I'm not on my phone, but I just wanted some of my thoughts here now. 😔
* this was a lie, by the way, since Harding brings up two Inquisition members that potentially weren't even recruited (and Solas brings up one of them as well potentially); Morrigan drinking from the Well of Sorrows seems to be a canon choice, and the thing with Isabela seems to have had a canon choice made as well because otherwise her line about "learning what family meant" or whatever makes no sense at all.
This is more of a general statement than specifically about JB and SA, but it's really strange that some people think that pointing out actors doing PR is somehow seen as one trying to badmouth them, when it's just the nature of showbusiness, some actors entertain those ideas better than others, it isn't deeper than that. Now using JB as an example, we have seen "proof" of him hanging out with people like AG or CC without it being publicized in social media at all, which shows that that isn't PR, unlike with his relationship with SA. In the case of SA, she has sent flowers to congratulate to a lot of people, from JB to NC or the people who worked with her in the Nespresso ad, that doesn't make any of them are her BFFs. Pointing that out doesn't mean I believe people who aren't the closest friends means they hate each other either.
Some people in their attempt to feel like they aren't parasocial with the celebrities they like end up doing the opposite, at the end we really don't know these people and whether they're friends or not is irrelevant. Like you said this was commentary on fans and not the famous people involved.
You were able to express this much better that I ever could so thank you so much. I agree 100% and the fact that some people think this is a controversial take and feel it’s ok to bully people over this is honestly mindblowing.
Jason and/or dick, for the ask game?
First, I'm very sorry for taking so long to answer this.
Second, JASON!!!! DICK!!! I'll do my top five for both, let's go!
Jason-
Oof, kinda difficult for me to select just five for him because he's my ultimate blorbo and I like to explore him with all sorts of characters. But! For the sake of this ask game, I will whittle it down to five:-
Dick & Jason - My Ao3 is proof enough of my obsession with them. Not a single moment that I don't spend thinking about them. It is borderline insane at this point. Their relationship has LAYERS,,,, like an onion- too many and every single one of them will make you cry. They were each other's first brothers, they love each other, they scream, they mess up, they still reach out. T H E M. (Sorry to my mutuals who don't get a break from me screaming about them skskssk. Especially Scarlett and Perse.)
Jason/Roy - I have covered it in Roy's post for the ask game but the baseline is that -> them = perfect for each other. I rest my case.
Jason & Rose & Eddie - Jason and Eddie being pen pals was one of the best things to have happened in his Robin era. I want them to be friends again soooo bad. Elseworlds might show them to be married but I honestly think Rose and Jason work better as chaotic bffs. Rose and Eddie have interacted and I don't need much more to work with. They would be an amazing trio and I stand by that.
Jason & Talia - Best mother-son duo, I don't take criticism. No one can or should fight me on this ever. It's not perfect but they care for and understand each other deeply. I think about them for one second and get emotional.
Jason & Kyle & Donna - Cosmic mistakes. Need I say more? Each of them are a glitch on the fabric of reality and its w o n d e r f u l. So much to explore - from themes and motifs to the inevitable crack-y trope of them babysitting each other. (People would expect me to say Donna but she's honestly just as chaotic lololol)
Dick-
Dick & Jason - for exactly the reasons I have stated above. The other relationships on both the lists take turns on my brainrot slot but this remains at the top.
Dick & Donna - Exhibit A: "Donna, we've gone through so much together and in not all that many years. Yet, I feel as if I've known and loved you all my life. Terry is a remarkably lucky man to have found you." "I'm the lucky one. I've known so much love and now all my loved ones are here to share my happiest day. Dick... I love you." Exhibit B: "Me? I can't even listen to a bike go by without thinking of you." Like,,,,,, literally no one does it like them. They are platonic soulmates and that's on that.
Dick & Damian - I love the banter and the sweetness in their relationship. They quipped with each other just like any other dynamic duo but there's a gentler, sincere side to them that I absolutely adore.
Dick & Clark - They're besties. Dick got his mask name from a Kryptonian legend, Clark called him the "multiverse constant". What else do people want me to say on the topic?
Dick & the Titans - listen I know I talked about Donna and his relationship BUT all of the Titans are so important to him and his journey. Those were some crucial years for him as a leader but also as a person. It was a,,, Process for sure and these people were with him throughout that trip. So yes, him and the Titans are very near and dear to my heart.
Hrm, the way I was talking before is something I think gets my point across poorly. Here's a second attempt: The class goes through a lecture about the importance of standing up against what's injust or wrong, and how absolutely vital it is to not forsake that just because they're afraid of rocking the boat. That that sort of apathy has been the cause of countless tragedies throughout human history. Your decision whether It's Adrien or Marinette (or both) who the focus is on taking it to heart.
Stand up
I’m gonna target Adrien for this one. Marinette has already shown she can and will stand up to people, if it weren’t for the fact that people who have influence in her life (Adrien and Bustier) want her not to.
The person who insisted on the lecture was Coach Armand D’Argencourt. This man may be old-fashioned, but he has morals. It also helps that he dislikes Mayor Bourgeois and is unhappy with how the staff caters to Chloe just because she is abusing her father’s authority.
While he may not have the authority to insist on a school-wide lecture on standing up for self, he is in charge of the fencing team and has the ear of one Adrien Agreste.
In short, Armand decides to open practise to remind his students not to abuse their training. To be model citizens defending the weak and standing up to bullies.
After all, if you tolerate wrongdoings, you are the one watering the evil seed that grows to be an evil tree bearing evil fruit.
Kagami is present and supports Armand’s lecture. But knowing Adrien, she doubts he got the message. So she decides to help out by asking a question. “What if standing up causes them to lash out at us? We live under threat of akumas. If standing up causes them to become akumatized, maybe there is a gentler way to solve the problem.”
Adrien beams at Kagami. She is suddenly glad her visor is down.
Armand: evil cannot go unpunished. And they will always strike out. It is just a matter of when. At least you are prepared when standing up to them, rather than letting them take you unaware. For instance, I have heard rumors of some school bully throwing a party to earn the forgiveness of her classmates. After the party was done, she resumed insulting them.
Everyone nodded.
Adrien shifted uncomfortably. He knew his teacher was talking about Chloe, but that’s just the way she is.
Armand: the basic fact of it is, if you want someone to be better; you have to punish them when they do wrong. Forgiveness is good, yes, but that doesn’t mean we let the crime slide by. It just gives the bully more incentive to be cruel, because they can get away with it. No, students, you either stand up for yourself and others, or you become a doormat for evil.
Adrien was stunned. Had he really been encouraging Chloe’s behavior?
BTW: Kagami slaughtered him during practise.
As Adrien pondered on Armand’s lecture, Plagg cackled that at least one teacher knew that Chloe had to be stopped.
Adrien: Plagg, am I a doormat?
Plagg: oh...um...it’s time for my Camembert break!
And the kwami zoomed away.
Adrien slumped. He was a doormat. And he called himself a hero. No wonder Ladybug was the leader.
Tumblr media
Adrien decided to change from here on out. No more tolerating bullying.
Plagg, changing channels on the tv, asked, “Does that include Liar Liar Pants on Fire? Because honestly if you are a doormat to Chloe, you are a rug for that liar. At least you disapprove of Chloe’s behavior in public. But when Lila skips school, you just exit the conversation.”
Adrien: I’m exposing her, too! Which reminds me, I can call for Marinette’s help!”
Marinette was all too happy to finally put an end to Lila and Chloe’s reign, but she asked if this is what Adrien wanted, because he’s always tried to avoid conflict.
Adrien: i just learned that conflict is inevitable when it comes to them, but at least this time, we won’t take it lying down.
Marinette gushes and etc.
First they gather proof. Actually everyone had been bullied by Chloe, so eyewitnesses were assured. And getting Ladybug to confess that she never even met Lila Rossi until she confronted her at the park, easy as pie. Marinette was the one who secured an interview for Alya. She can so secure another for herself.
Marinette triumphantly hands the recording to Alya; who is devastated by the impact this will do to her blog. Marinette encourages her to turn her despair into righteous anger and help her expose Lila.
Cue apology for not believing her BFF.
Alya gladly does all factchecking before doing the exposure on her blog, including Lila’s precious school history, many of which involved angry classmates about her deception.
Adrien also officially renounced his friendship with Chloe.
When the principal calls Adrien and Alya into his office to scold them for hurting their friends, Adrien retorts that the principal was abetting their behavior and doing a lousy job of keeping his students in check.
Alya jabbed that the real heroes would have never been cowed by a teenager. And frankly she thinks the principal has bigger things to be worried about, now that the students have banded together to get their parents to call the school board about how the faculty handles bullying, not to mention that Lila’s mother had been present in Paris the whole time. Had the faculty actually let a student go truant for so long, unpunished?
The principal pales at their threat and sends them back to class.
Their threat was true; though.
An inspection was being carried out. Chloe and Lila were expelled. Chloe threatened to call her father. The school board retorted they would call the president! After all, she is responsible for the majority of akumas, I’m sure the president will be keen to know just what the mayor has been up to if his daughter is so troublesome.
The anger of many parents and students over the bullying and deception leads to Scarlet Moth’s reappearance.
Ladybug and Chat Noir were prepared and informed their team in advance. With Viperion, they eventually captured Hawkmoth and unmasked him.
Adrien was shocked and devastated that it was his father and Nathalie this whole time. But having learnt his lesson, he insists on handing them over to the police. The rest of the hero team agree, deciding to spare Adrien from police scrutiny with the reminder that it was Adrien who planned to end Chloe and Lila’s reign, and who had warned the heroes what might happen.
And with friends who love and care for him, Adrien would recover, free from his father’s rules, Chloe’s arrogance and Lila’s presence.
Bonus: there was definitely a lot of apologies once Lila had been exposed as a bully.
afters months of bullying Marinette, the class(minus Lila)finds out shes Ladybug and they're confused bc Lila said they were BFFs so why would she be so mean to Lila? then they connect the dots and "oh shit we fucked up". They dont tell anyone about it. Mari is confused and suspicious at their sudden change of hearts. Chat starts to visit her bc he knows she doesnt trusts Adrien after he sided with Lila. She's wary of Chat too bc at their last encounter he was very rude to her bc of Lila's lies
I don’t know if this is quite what you were going for, but this is what came to mind.
“Hey, Mari! How’s it going?” Chat Noir asked, nervously from his unwelcome position on her balcony after he showed up uninvited.
Marinette didn’t look happy to see him. He could see she was raising her guard, like she expected him to start yelling at her.
With good reason, he reminded himself bitterly. The last time they had seen each other—or rather the last time she had seen him as Chat, things had not been…the most pleasant.
He had been caught up in rumors and suspicion. Sinister words and talk of secret alliances between their supposed “innocent” class rep and the madman threatening their city.
He should have known better.
He DID know better.
Adrien knew that Lila was a compulsive liar and willing to make up any story. He knew that whatever came out of her mouth had to be lies. He even had some idea that Lila had some sort of grudge against Marinette—being one of the only ones to know she was lying and to be willing to call her out on it.
And yet he still fell for them anyway. Because it was strange, wasn’t it? And Lila might have been a liar, but she did have a point. Where DID Marinette disappear to during each akuma battle? She was never where she was supposed to be. She was never where she claimed she had been. No one could ever recall seeing her during any of the fights since this mess had started.
Coincidence, sure. But with Lila’s silver tongue, those coincidences added up and began to paint a picture that he couldn’t bring himself to ignore. But he should have. Because the picture may have made some sense, but it was still Lila putting it together and he knew—he KNEW her to be a vindictive manipulator with a grudge.
To think he actually believed that Marinette Dupain-Cheng was secretly working for Hawk Moth in his plots against their heroes.
Looking back, it had been stupid.
Really. Really stupid.
Even more stupid now that he knew what he did. And not a moment went by that he wasn’t kicking himself for jumping to those conclusions—and even worse, acting on them.
He still remembered the way she looked at him when he snapped at her. His accusations—at the time powered with righteous fury, only came off as ignorant and callous now. He still remembered the way she gaped at him in shock and hurt. He remembered the way she tried to deny it. He remembered how she tried to explain herself.
He remembered the way he hadn’t cared.
Chat never knew how he appeared to her in that moment. What expression he must have had as he looked down on her and coldly told her to stay out of the way for once.
He wondered if it matched the cold stare she gave him now.
“Why are you here?”
Her detached attitude hurt more than he thought it would. But he couldn’t say he didn’t deserve it.
“I just wanted to check on you.” He said, forcing a smile. “You know, make sure you were all right after that last akuma fight.”
She raised an eyebrow, incredulously. “You mean the one that was three weeks ago?”
This time, he couldn’t hide the wince. Because yeah, it had been almost a month since that last fight. And he hadn’t considered visiting her—spying on her, sure, but not actually coming by to talk to her. He hadn’t even spared Marinette so much as a concern until just a few days ago. He could make excuses. Say he’d been busy. That he’d had homework and other things to do. But nothing had prevented him from enjoying free time and outings with his other classmates. Nothing had kept him from talking to Marinette any of those times.
The simple truth was that he hadn’t seen reason to go out of his way to worry for Marinette.
Not until one week ago when, along with several other classmates amidst their self-assured attempt to find “proof” of her guilt, he discovered that their “Everyday Ladybug” was actually “THE Ladybug”.
And suddenly, he realized too late that all of the little coincidences were pointing to a much different picture he had been too blind to see.
“I’m fine. You can go.”
He couldn’t. Because this was wrong and it was his fault.
“I don’t think you are.” He spoke up before he realized it. And he cursed his stupid mouth, but couldn’t quite bring himself to take it back because Marinette was clearly not fine.
She froze, and he fought the urge to move—though whether towards her to comfort or away from her to escape the awkwardness and guilt, he didn’t know.
“If I’m not, what does it really matter to you?”
Everything! He wanted to shout.
Because you’re my partner.
Because I love you.
Because I’m an idiot and I was wrong.
And I am so, so sorry.
So much he wanted to say.
So much he was scared to say.
Their partnership was already hanging by a thread. Her anger at him after the incident when she confronted him as Ladybug for his treatment of a ‘civilian’ had been quite clear. For once, he refused to give up, so insistent he was right.
And for once, she refused to apologize. It made sense now, given it had been herself on the receiving end of his mistreatment all this time. But at the time…
He had questioned Ladybug before. But never like that. Never did he so openly insult her judgement that way.
And now that he knew…
It was only one more thing to add to the list of ways he had seriously fucked up.
As Adrien, he promised Marinette support only to abandon her.
As Chat, he promised protection only to be the one to instigate.
As himself, he had promised to love the girl behind the mask only to turn on her in both.
Wasn’t he just pitiful?
“I just…wanted to make sure you weren’t at risk. You know…with the akumas and everything.”
She gave him a flat stare, unimpressed. “I think I’ve been doing well for myself for the past couple of months, thank you.”
“Look, I know things haven’t been…easy for you lately.” And THAT was the understatement of the year. “But—”
“No. No buts.” She cut him off. “You’re right. Things haven’t been easy. But I’ve been handling it. I’ve learned to handle it on my own.”
He winced. She didn’t say it. And she may not have intended to suggest it, but the implication was there. That it was all because he—because all of them had left her alone.
“Akumas can’t get me if I don’t give them something to target, right? So I’ve been staying positive and keeping my emotions in check.” She smiled. “You don’t have to worry about me becoming an akuma or anything.”
He clenched his fists.
She smiled like a doll and he hated it. He hated how fake it looked. He hated how it reminded him of his own false smiles as Adrien when he was trying to convince others he wasn’t upset when he was.
“You shouldn’t hide away your feelings.” He told her, honestly. “You have every right to be upset. Especially after how everyone treated you…how I treated you.”
She blinked in surprise.
“I…jumped to a lot of conclusions based on coincident and faulty evidence. I didn’t give you a chance to explain. And I should have because I know you, Marinette. In all our meetings and all our times together, I’ve only ever known you to be a genuinely good person.”
He wished he could hug her. Hold her tightly until he was sure he could use whatever he had to bring back the warmth to every part of her. To simply just hold her hand and offer her reassurance she had been sorely needing but sadly lacking all this time.
“I’m sorry, Marinette.”
I’m sorry I didn’t trust you.
I’m sorry I didn’t stand by you.
I’m sorry I left you alone.
Her blank smile faltered and her expression shifted to something sad but for the first time, genuine.
“At least you’re the first one to say it.”
It wasn’t forgiveness.
But maybe it was a start.
Thoughts on Andrés being dominant over Martín? In fics I often see them portrayed like this (dom Andrés, submissive Martín), but I just don't see this dynamic between them, and even less so after s5.. both are dominant people normally, but not with each other. their relationship to me is very equal-equal. (And the kiss scene when Martín is pushed to the wall doesn't seem a proof to me, that Martín is the submissive one.)
Hi anon! I already gave my opinion on this topic here (and someone unfollowed me right after LOL, no hard feelings but OK?). My thoughts still stand, especially after s5 with the riding lol.
Again, my opinion is just mine and nobody's obligated to share it or take my word as law, even if they agree. We'd be a boring audience if we all saw everything the exact same way, no?
I'm sure you're a whole different person from this other anon, but there's been this 1 anon going around intentionally asking people the exact same question (while knowing full well that the OPs in question don't share the same opinion) about *squints, because I can't believe I'm seeing this backwards discourse in our fandom* top/bottom discourse?? I absolutely do not approve of this anon's form of stirring petty drama over the most laughable petty shit (I swear I saw the same ask sent to 3 different people or something). So just to clear the air, I am not getting involved in that LMAO.
Anyway, same anon- I tried, I literally honestly tried my best to get into the dominant Andres submissive Martin thing (and I'm not talking about bedroom roleplay, just their day-to-day behavior). I tried to enjoy it. I tried to see it in canon, legit tilted my head to find it... and just utterly failed. They just seemed like equals in every interaction to me, unless I did some intense mental gymnastics. Neither of them ever canonly looked down on the other one or saw the other one as weak. They were both at their happiest when they see each other happy. I don't think they'd be "soulmates" otherwise. Why would a narcissist/egomaniac want to be bffs with someone he perceives as inherently inferior? That'd mean degrading himself to compare himself to a lesser man.
[[But I will admit I'm biased with this because 1) I don't relate or sympathize with either Martin or Andres 2) overly submissive Martin is disgustingly unattractive to me- I cannot fathom even being friends with this guy for 2 hours, let alone 10 years]]
And outside their interactions with each other, both of them are very domineering towards (maybe with the exception of Sergio) literally everyone else in their lives. Dom/Dom and Top/Top is really the dynamic that I saw in them (which is why I usually write them as verses). They see themselves as superior to everyone except each other and the only person they're willing to submit to is the other one because that's the only person they perceive as "worthy."
Besides, dom/sub is NOT the same as top/bottom anyway. Ex. character A can submit to B in all aspects of life, and still top the shit out of B in bed.
Lastly, LOL same, I don't see the wall-push as evidence of anything either. It was just a kiss, they weren't having sex (and even if they were... soft doms/tops exist???). Plus, that wasn't one of their regular interactions, and Andres being aggressive here doesn't mean Martin was passive (he wasn't). And again, Martin "letting" Andres leave doesn't make him a sub (case in point! See the ask scenario I answered below this one. any other option is dubcon or noncon, neither of which Martin would do to Andres).
Also, if we're using that as proof, I don't think Martin being shoved against a wall is even comparable to Bogota grabbing Andres and bending him over a rail. I don't take that as absolute 100% proof that Andres is a whiny whimpering sub at Bogota's feet, for the same reason I don't take the wall as proof that Martin is a powerless sub.
Hey guys. I'm back 3 days later. Was too busy getting my Latin teacher to listen to Fall Out Boy. Anyway.
The obvious first bit of gay is the title, G.I.N.A.S.F.S., which stands for "Gay is not a Synonym for Shitty". Honestly, the entire story of the song (an unrequited love that isn't unrequited because the love interest rejected them, but because the narrator can't bring themselves to tell them) is inherently a queer experience. ESPECIALLY a 2000s queer experience.
We're starting off with the pre-chorus because there's not much to be said about the 1st verse. Now, "Things aren't the same anymore. Some nights it gets so bad I almost pick up the phone" HELLO maybe I read that in a gay way because I'm gay but, the experience of having a bff and then developing romantic feelings so bad y'all drift apart and also pining so bad but not being sure they're into you so you just don't tell IS SO COMMON FOR LGBTS. Like, I've experienced that, every gay friend I've ever had has experienced that, It's literally a story I've heard from gay people since I was introduced to the concept of gay people.
Moving on to the chorus; "Sleep with your old shirts and walk through this house in your shoes". Now, it's totally possible and normal that a cishet relationship could swap shirts, especially when Pete Wentz is like shorter than me, but shoes that fit is a wee bit stranger. It's not very common in a cishet relationship that you can properly swap shoes. Like, you would not be walking through that house if said shoes were smaller than you feet, that hurts like hell!!
Now, lets get on with the 2nd verse. "Threw caution to the wind but I've got a lousy arm" Erm... sir.. A heterosexual relationship does not usually entail a sense of rebellion. I do understand the paparazzi's reaction to people dating ANYONE at the time, especially since Pete Wentz was somewhat of a 2000s tabloid staple, but it would eventually die down. The phrasing there seems as if it were something he would never live down. Not to mention the fact that he FAILED at letting go of caution. He couldn't bring himself to fully let his worries of, not only how this would affect him, but the subject of the song. SAD 😢 Now, onto the gayest fucking lyrics I have ever heard: "And I trace your shadows on the wall now I kiss them whenever I'm down" WHAT THE FUCK. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO EVEN BEGIN. THAT'S FUCKING GAY PINING SHIT. NO HETEROSEXUAL EVER DOES THAT. Also "Figured on not Figuring myself out" Damn okay, unlabled valid as hell
okay n e way ^^ The last verse. I don't have much to say for the first bit as that seems to relate back to his overdose. However. The last line. "Photo-proof kisses I remember so well" Now. I need y'all to stick with me here. Gay. LISTEN Why do they need to be photo-proof? Again, I fully understand the paparazzi culture of the time and wanting the paparazzi to stay out of your business is a totally normal message. But NEEDING them to be photo-proof is, again, strange for a cishet relationship. It would be shitty for them to take pictures, but it wouldn't be career ending. A queer kiss would be. Like, FOB already got shit for "looking" gay. Imagine if one of them actually had a same sex relationship back in the day, much less a gender queer partner. Their career would have been over before it even began. Literally, they would probably have to break up just to escape scrutiny, and that wouldn't even completely save them.
The point of this post isn't to say Pete Wentz is queer or to prove some weird real life ppl ship because it's not any of my business and I really really don't care about some 45 yr old man's love life from 20 years ago, but I think FOB genuinely have a lot of queer influences and, I love that from beginning to end, they write music for the lgbt community exclusively. That about wraps up my silly gay post, Ciao!
One like and I will give y'all my queer analysis of G.I.N.A.S.F.S. by hit band Fall Out Boy
