Honestly, I *DO* like episodes 7, 8, and 9. BUT I would have LOVED if they did everything they did AS PLANNED, and then added the alternatives film (the versions we got) as a bonus. Honestly I hate ROS because Rey is related to HIM. Lbh, NOBODY would have sex with p*alpatine
the problem with episodes 7-9 is that each is a standalone film. that is not a problem in itself since every other star wars trilogy movies could technically be watched as a standalone and with a little context you’d be fine, since they tell an overarching story with three more or less independent characters. episodes 7-9 do not tell an overarching story, they are each chapters to a different telling of rey’s story. ep 7 tells the story of rey nobody, who is both the narrative foil and the in-world counterpart of one of the strongest force users alive, and that’s honestly already a really good premise, buuuuut if we’re going to have a trilogy then that main conflict should be resolved either in the second movie or at the very least in the first half or so of the third because things! need! to! happen! for! a reason! except that they don’t because at the climax of the second film kylo tells rey she’s a nobody, and apparently that changes nothing within her resolve which..... fine, let’s push it and say she’s going to deal with that in the third movie, whatever, but we get to it and actually she’s palpatine’s granddaughter so actually she’s all the jedi which. UGH. the point I’m trying to make is that she is a completely linear character being thrown in three different takes of her story, and I hate to say this because I LOVE her, but after the second movie I totally got it when people said she was a mary sue because her faith in the force and the jedi and her kindness and blahblah NEVER really waivers (except when she gets angry at luke which. saves everyone! how fuckin convenient!) and you could come out and say “lori, if we think like that luke skywalker is also a mary sue”, which, again, don’t get me wrong because he is literally my son but he IS. and in the 80’s that is FINE cause it’s the story we needed - a story about this starry (heh) eyed guy whose unwaivering faith in people and The Magic Around Him™️ may seem a little misguided at first but ends up saving everyone, but that was 40 years ago. and maybe it was silly of me to expect a nuanced take on The Human Specificity Of Empathy from a star wars movie but you know what, I don’t think it was since gareth edwards paved the way with rogue one that is the epitome of analysis of what it really means to be good or bad and I’m not going to rant about how rogue one is the best star wars movie today BUT it set the tone for a less us-vs-them view of the world which was VERY exciting and in line with what I think the 2010-20’s really wants from its heroes in general. so if we want to follow the narrative beats of the first trilogy or at least the first movie (no way of knowing where jj abrams would’ve gone in ep 8) I think that’s fine so as long as you make it your own, and imo jj abrams was, and then rian johnson was like nope lol, and jj abrams tried to fix the narrative 180 rian johnson tried to do, and like. episode 8 is a very fun movie to watch as a star wars fan but narratively it does not make any fuckin sense. I thought so then and now with ep 9 out I think so even more. rian johnson is a very creative guy, he had some REALLY interesting ideas, but WHY give him the creative liberty to do so in the MIDDLEEEEE of the trilogy??? WHY!?!?!? give him a star wars story film! he would KILL it! or you know wait a couple years so the director of the first movie who actually knows what the fuck he’s doing can direct the second, but noooooo the damned fucking mouse wants to wipe his ass with $100 bills so we cannot possibly wait. cohesive storytelling? we don’t give a shit about that in the house of le mouse.
that all to say, there is nothing Fundamentally wrong narratively with either of the three movies. they’re fun to watch. even ep 8, possibly my least fav of the bunch, was a fun experience in cinemas. it’s star wars and disney - they know how to make a blockbuster. the thing is that as a trilogy they simply do not make any sense. if you analyze each movie individually all three seem to have different core themes: ep 7’s is “nobodies are people too actually”, 8 is “maybe space fascists aren’t so bad, actually (also luke is here hey luke)”, and 9 is “I take that back, nobodies aren’t a people actually”. it’s satisfying to watch as a casual spectator who goes to the movies, seems some space gays with one braincell between the three of them and is like coolio and then goes home, but it’s not satisfying to watch as someone even the littlest bit invested in the story because there is no cohesive roundup of everything. the original trilogy was like is luke an idiot for being nice? is vader actually redeemable? is han deserving of trust despite being a space nerf herder? and sometimes u were like what’s happenin!!!! but in the end all your questions are answered quite satisfactorily. luke was right, han is sexy, vader was redeemable. in the prequels: how does anakin skywalker become darth vader? how do he and obi juan become the enemies we see in the death star? what happens to padme? and while the sequels are a beautiful mess that I love they do answer the questions they put out when episode 1 begins, so you know, imagine liking the sequels and hating the prequels when the PREQUELS make more sense, the PREQUELSSSS. anywhomst, point is: the sequels are like here is finn. finn is the first stormtrooper we see the face of! he defects! also the first stormtrooper we se defect. the other defector we know is bodhi from r1, who is very sympathetic despite being imperial, and clearly we’re supposed to feel empathy for finn. finn survives! finn finds rey! go finn I love u! and then. WHAT happens to finn? what furthers his character development into a full fledged person when he starts out with not even a name? where’s his anger? where’s his OBVIOUS narrative direction that should be “ex stormtrooper who shows imperials that fascism is bad actually”? nope, goes almost unmentioned from then on. and again, I love finn, he is literally baby, but he also froze after ep 7 because rian johnson decided to fuck shit up and also because disney is racist. poe? the do-good soldier who is supposed to be the Believer™️? actually he is the only one who was any semblance of a coherent role in ep 8... which is promptly retconned when jj abrams makes him a fucking spice runner in ep 9 lol. who is rey? and they’re like she’s a nobody and that’s why she’s spesh, wait no she is a nobody but she’s spesh because space fascist has the hots for her, oh, no, wait, she’s spesh because PALPATINE. what was the theme of this trilogy? what was the thesis? what questions did they set out to answer and did they answer them at all, never mind well? and it’s unclear, obviously, because three movies with three clearly different views behind them won’t magically make narrative sense just because you are trying to piece them together. they’re not pieces at all, they are three independent takes on the stars and the wars. enjoyable as little snacky treats, not as a three meal course. (also I’m not even going to TOUCH on how what was already a narrative mess was made worse by disney’s NONSTOP fanservice. sw sequels and game of thrones last season are the cautionary tales of why fanservice sucks and while a good, intelligent if cliche or predictable story is always better than a Shocking™️ one that doesn’t make any sense. but if I start on that I will LITERALLY not shut up SO AHEM CONTINUE @LIZZIBENNET)
ALL that to say: I agree w/ u and I LOVE your idea of each movie being an alternative version of the story. honestly, that would make more sense than what we have right now off the bat lol. can you imagine ep 7 being the rose colored version of the story via the heroes’ lenses, and then ep 8 being the “actually space fascism is good if ur kylo ren” version of the story, and then, ep 9 is what actually happened... told by rey nobody, who dances the line between the good and bad until there’s not a line anymore. CHEF’S FUCKIN KISS obviously much more risqué than disney would ever go for, but genius! much better than trying to make us care about these conflicts that they make up in the first 15 mins of each movie. ur mad because episode 7 follows the beats of 4? here’s three movies on why you were wrong when you judged it all true and therefore Bad. HUHU I love that
also the galaxy is a vast place... I am sure there are emperor fuckers out there

July 9: Star Trek 1x05 The Enemy Within
Today’s ep: The Enemy Within. Overall this is a good ep, but I don’t know that I entirely agree with its thesis, and some parts of it are so uncomfortable that they mess with my general enjoyment.
Kirk, being encouraging of his crew: “That will make a good specimen.” I like how it’s just one line but there’s such confidence about him. They have to remind you of his normal self fast because he’s split for 99% of the episode.
Sulu: “That’s nippy.” I love Sulu.
So they just find an alien dog on the planet and decide to steal it? Lol your fav is problematic Enterprise crew.
(Like how they just never explained why they sent the dog up by itself later lol.)
I forgot that it was the ore that messed with the transporter. That’s a cool idea; makes sense. Alien ore gets in your system now weird stuff happens.
Evil Kirk appears and no one sees him--that’s why you don’t leave the transporter room unattended like Kirk said!!
Honestly imagine how wild seeing this when it first aired and not knowing much about Star Trek would be. Weird new sci fi show’s been on for a month and suddenly there are two Captains!! What!?!?
Even the way Evil!Kirk touches the ship is lascivious.
Bones is a good doctor. He really does have a good bedside manner; I don’t feel like people remember this about him enough.
He also keeps brandy in sickbay lol.
This scene with gratuitously shirtless Kirk and distracted Spock... it doesn’t look anything less like a porno in context honestly. I know Spock is supposed to be distracted because he’s hearing information that doesn’t make sense but Kirk is just so obviously turning on the flirt face (aka his usual face with Spock) and he’s shirtless so... the distraction is real and multi-faceted.
Ooh, Janice is an artist! I love her little rotating mirror thing.
This scene is so terrible. Really upsets me. Surely they could have found some way to portray ‘pure selfish id’ without going immediately to sexual assault.
Evil!Kirk wears so much eye makeup.
It’s interesting to me that Good!Kirk is so obviously not the real Kirk either, right from the moment he steps off the transporter. (Not to be that person again but Shatner is a better actor than people give him credit for being.)
Spock will save the day! I know that Rand calls for him because he’s First Officer but it’s still interesting that she goes for that name over, like, security.
Evil!Kirk is also where Kirk keeps all his dramatic tendencies.
I feel so bad for Janice in this scene. “What was I supposed to do? He’s the Captain.” Anyway this is why this is still a problem.
That dog omg.
“Set phasers to stun.”
“The search party is to capture you.” Yeah, that’s hard to explain. “Hey, crew, we’re going to play a little game of hide and seek. I’ll hide first.”
Man this conversation between Kirk and Spock. Leadership is one of my favorite themes in ST and Kirk is probably my favorite fictional leader of all time okay so this means a lot to me. “You don’t have the right to be vulnerable in the eyes of the crew.”
Spock is honestly just so on Kirk’s side, at every single moment. He believes him, trusts him, knows who he is, is loyal to him, is honest with him, knows how to handle him, how to care for him.
Spock likes the dog. He likes animals, in general.
The phaser vocab is so different this early on. “Base cycle.”
Good thing Kirk has makeup readily available to cover up his scratches.
My mom suggested transporting some blankets to the planet. But what if they split into evil blankets!! (Interesting that inanimate objects DO split too though.)
I feel like Kirk tried to do a Vulcan nerve pinch there lol.
“If I’m to be the Captain, I’ve got to act like one.” Immediately goes to a shot of his evil self climbing on equipment.
Spock: I always have a point.”
Spock listing out Kirk’s good qualities: his intellect, compassion, love, tenderness. Telling, lol. A lot of synonyms for how much he loves and admires Kirk. Kirk appreciation hour.
“If I seem insensitive to what you’re going through, Captain, understand: it’s the way I am.” I love this line, it’s perfect, because it has two meanings: how I am is unemotional, which causes me to seem insensitive; but also: I go through what you’re going through all the time, it’s how I am.
“Lower us down a pot of hot coffee or some rice wine.”
Poor Kirk, so many struggles, not enough snuggles.
There’s no way people could live through those temperatures in those clothes and not die. Sulu calling for room service. I love him. (Why did they drop his sense of humor in the movies???)
“A thoughtless, brutal animal... yet it’s me.”
I have a lot of mixed feelings about the main thesis of this ep. But. I do love that Kirk’s courage is in his good side.
And so much compassion....”Don’t hurt him. Don’t hurt my evil side.”
Poor animal. Goes through such a confusing experience. Then dies.
Second Officer Spock. I’ve seen people make a big deal out of this but it’s pretty obvious to me this is supposed to mean “Second in command.” As in Kirk is the “First Officer” as the Captain and Spock is second. He behaves in all ways as the second in command, right down to making that log entry at all.
The AOS verse should have rebooted this ep instead of Space Seed (I say every single episode). I mean, STID had as a theme “Kirk learning what it means to command.” That could be tied in! Also can you imagine, two CPines? Two??
Half alien Spock.
Jim’s compassion is paralyzing him.
Aaaand we’re back on the creepy train with Evil!Kirk.
Evil!Kirk doesn’t care about the crew at all. He can make decisions fast because he only cares about himself, so there’s always an easy answer.
Of course he and everyone else looks to Spock as the authority on Kirks.
Evil!Kirk knows he’s not the dominant one here, that re-combining with Good!Kirk means a certain ‘death’ or at least... being sent back to the depths.
Spock at the transporter as if this were even his department lol.
“I’ve seen a part of myself no man should ever see.”
That flirty face he gives Spock though oml. Get a room.
Ugh Spock’s last comment was so ragingly inappropriate. Hate it. But also, read it as an expression of his own extreme jealousy because he’s definitely a jealous person. Just put through the ‘sexist 60s man’ dialogue-writer translator.
So again, I like the idea of this ep and a lot of the details but the details I don’t like are......hard to ignore.
I liked that the bad side was dramatic, selfish, confused, entitled, and it made sense that he was violent and even lustful. And I liked that Kirk had such a hard time seeing that part of himself and acknowledging it. And I do think it's a good lesson/message that we need to understand our own worst impulses and that those impulses are part of us and maybe even tied to parts of us that we need. But the implication that everyone's a little rapey and that the events of this episode necessarily mean Janice has to work for someone she knows is inappropriately lustful toward her just... are really hard for me to entirely get over.
Honestly her reaction just really makes me so sad. And it annoys me that no one stands up for her, no one says that the Captain was wrong and she didn’t deserve that treatment, “imposter” or no. I guess that's what bothers me more than that Evil!Kirk went immediately to assault, b/c the idea IS that he is lustful, violent, and completely selfish. He cares about himself, his survival, his ship, what he owns, what he deserves. Maybe it is natural he would let the power go to his head and seek out someone who he knows he could manipulate easily into giving him something he wants. Maybe it's no different in a way from stranding the crew on the planet. But no one says "hey, that's wrong what he did. You're entitled to respect from the Captain." And I wish someone had.
I recognize this was made in 1966 and I do generally give ST credit within the context within which it was made, but I am a 2020 viewer and the ep certainly hits home given, you know, everything, so... just some thoughts.
Anyway, another thing I was thinking about during the ep was that I feel like I forget that Spock has two "warring halves" b/c he's half human. Because before he put it that way, I was thinking about how the war in him is between his natural Vulcan emotions and his Vulcan teachings. But now I wonder if the whole "Vulcans are super emotional" thing might actually be quite late in the canon, and initially they were intended to be naturally "emotionless.” But basically I don’t actually know how I headcanon the human and Vulcan halves of him interacting... You’d think I would lol but my take in haicg was really... pretty focused on the Vulcanness of him. I guess I thought of the human half as more of a cultural thing because physically, emotionally, psychologically, and physiologically he appears to be primarily Vulcan.
Talking about this more with my mom, it’s making more sense to me... it is cultural and it’s about expectations. He wants to “honor his father’s teachings” and be Vulcan. But he has a whole half, a whole side of his family, with different teachings and beliefs--what to do with them? When he’s around Vulcans, they are obsessed with his human side. When he’s around humans, they see him as fully Vulcan--which is much easier for him and why he seeks them out imo--but it also is a constant ignoring of part of him he feels guilty for ignoring. When McCoy tells him to be more emotional, does a part of him wonder if he should? For his mom? But then... Vulcans don’t choose to be logical for fun. It’s for safety, it’s for survival. So how can he do anything else but follow his father? Who he also doesn’t speak to for 20 years and has a super complicated relationship with! So it’s difficult.
Anyway. That was an emotionally intense experience for this human person. The next ep is Mudd’s Women, one of the weaker S1 offerings, but still a classic as per usual.

Hello! So now that got has ended I'm looking for some tv shows that I could watch after I'm done with my exams. Do you have any suggestions? I'm not looking for anything specific, although if you have watched some good period dramas, I'd love some recommendations. Also wanted to add how much I love your blog, it's really beautiful
tysm that’s so sweet!! i love giving recs so i’ve got a bunch that you might like under the cut; i’ve put a ♡ next to my favs
period dramas:
NEW WORLDS (2014)this one is a mini series, only 4 episodes long, but please don’t let that stop you! it’s about anti-monarchism and rebellion and forbidden love in the 1600′s & is set in both england and america. i cried more than once but the ending is so bittersweet and hopeful!!
POLDARK (2015—)i have a love/hate relationship with this one tbh. i started watching because of the main relationship but i ended up really into it for the side relationships instead?? the actual political plot doesn’t interest me but i love the drama between the family members. also i adore the women in this show, every single female character is well-written and realistic and you’ll love them all (even if at times you hate them). the men tho? the men are pretty much collectively the worst. “what’s wrong with the women in this family?” “the men.”
SPARTACUS (2010—2013) ♡i started watching this before i ever got into game of thrones but if you like the fight scenes in got, you’ll enjoy this! great characters, great fight scenes, great friendships. this one is based on gladiators who are fighting for their freedom.
THE WHITE PRINCESS (2017) ♡okay firstly and most importantly: jodie comer stars in this so you know it’s good. it’s also got michelle fairly (catelyn stark) in it though tbh she wasn’t my favourite character in this and i didn’t find her likeable at all. it’s not very historically accurate ofc but the relationship between henry/elizabeth is honestly the perfect enemies to lovers rep & always lowkey reminds me of book!sansa/jon possibilities
PAN AM (2011—2012)this one isn’t like game of thrones at all but it’s only one season and it’s super cute and has a lot of famous actresses in it like christina ricci & margot robbie. based on the adventures of a crew of pan am stewardesses, this is a good combination of lighthearted fun and chilling cold-war drama. an old favourite.
THE MUSKETEERS (2014—2016) ♡i’ll be gushing over this for years to come tbh it’s really just that perfect. the relationship between the musketeers is so lovely, the personification of ‘brotherhood’ really, but also the romantic relationships are really good too?? which for some reason i personally hadn’t expected. my fav couple is aramis/anne (anne is played by the actress who played roslin frey!) because the forbidden love & the respect and adoration between those two is just perfect but really every relationship (even the ones that don’t become endgame) are written very well
OUTLANDER (2014—)i haven’t watched every single episode of this one but from what i have seen it’s very good, and has some similar themes to game of thrones!! the sex scenes are epic, the main relationship is lovely, and overall its a very realistic show that features supernatural elements!
THE LAST KINGDOM (2015—) ♡i’m not going to lie: i started this series by skipping straight to 2x7 because i’d seen gifs of the relationship between aethelflaed and erik but it was so good i ended up going back and starting from the beginning! this show reminds me of ‘vikings’ more tham game of thrones but it’s not as gory and the characters aren’t all assholes. side note: if you love sansa stark as much as i do you’re gonna love aethelflaed, lady of mercia! she’s actually a real person but this show is based on a book series that looks super interesting! honestly the main character also kind of reminds me of jon snow
HARLOTS (2017—) ♡oh my gosh how do i describe this show?? the family dynamics are so! intricate! and! beautiful! honestly just stunning. everything about this show is s t u n n i n g. the costumes are colourful and vivid and honestly i’d recommend watching just for that but the storyline really does keep you hooked!! also: liv tyler and jessica brown findlay are love interests in this which is honestly a dream come true
BLACK SAILS (2015—2017)okay full disclosure; i haven’t actually seen this but i’ve heard very good things and it’s on my list!! it’s about pirates, i think there’s some queer rep (can anybody confirm??), and there’s lots of amazing women. again, allegedly.
dramas:
THE SOCIETY (2018—)i literally watched the entire first season in a single night so it must be alright, right? basically all you need to know about this is that a town full of teenagers go on a field trip & then return to find all their parents mysteriously missing and their town closed off from the outside world. it’s basically lord of the flies but modern! with some kick-ass friendships! and amazing young women (one literally teaches herself to be a doctor can you believe?)!
SHARP OBJECTS (2018)if you haven’t heard about this one yet idk what rock you’ve been living under but welcome back! this one is a m a z i n g but also hella chilling and the ending is such a shocker if it hasn’t been spoiled for you yet!
THE BOLD TYPE (2017—) ♡i always describe this one as ‘sex and the city for millennials’ but i’ve never watched a single sex and the city episode in my life so i honestly don’t know how accurate that is?? but it’s about a group of 20-something year old women who are best friends and work mates and they love each other so much?? the relationship between the girls is my favourite thing about the show but the show honestly tackles a lot of relevant issues; trump, age gaps, queer rep, immigration, racism, etc. i can’t recommend this enough!
CODE BLACK (2015—2018) ♡you know those episodes in greys anatomy where everything is life-or-death and you’re on edge for the whole episode? that’s basically every single episode of code black. this is hands-down one of my most rewatched shows ever. i love medical dramas and this one balances well written characters with action-packed medical miracles so honestly what’s not to like??
A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES (2018—)okay admittedly the only reason i watch this show is because of the main couple but i can’t help it when they’re just so gosh-darn cute!! they love each other so god damned much! i wasn’t completely sold on this straight away but by ep 3 i was HOOKED. if you like supernatural romances/dramas that are more mature than your usual cw show, this one is a good choice!
THE OA (2016—) ♡i can’t even put into words how much i adore this?? but also: it will confuse THE SHIT out of you. no matter how smart you are, this one will leave you scratching your head. basically: a group of people who’ve had near-death experiences get kidnapped and experimented on. it’s not as brutal as it sounds, in fact the show is exceptionally beautiful, but it does deal with some hard themes and the good guys don’t always win.
12 MONKEYS (2015—2018)do you like time travel? do you like forbidden and yet totally-still-devoted-to-one-another-anyway love? then this is the show for you! this one is dark and gritty and deals pretty realistically with the concept of time travel & self-sacrifice and what people will give up to create a better world. it’s got a happy ending & you wont regret watching!
THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE (2018)oh this one will make you cry. in a good way though! long story short a family grows up in a haunted house and it affects them in ways they cannot imagine. it’s hauntingly beautiful and poetic and everybody should watch it at least once imo
comedies:
THE MARVELOUS MRS MAISEL (2017—)okay so this one counts as a period drama as well but it’s about a COMEDIAN so i put it in the comedy section lol. okay so long story short, a woman is left by her husband, she’s worth 1000 of him & everybody else knows it because you seriously can’t help falling in love with this woman but ofc there’s period-typical sexism she has to face as she struggles with being a single woman, a single mother, and an up-and-coming comedian. def recommend.
SANTA CLARITA DIET (2017—2019)drew barrymore is a zombie!! who lives a normal life but also eats people!! it’s only weird for the first couple of eps. the family dynamics are snarky and witty and they manage to make gore funny?? honestly this entire show is legit laugh-out-loud darkly hilarious.
#if you like any of these & want some recs that are similar please feel free to send another message!#i've got some movies you might like as well#cool ask tag

sighs ok ill answer this under the cut and separately but for future reference please use “vr” or “vr///ains” for ask memes so my shit doesn’t pop up in the tags. ty
haven’t heard of it | absolutely never watching | might watch | currently watching | dropped | hated it | meh | a positive okay | liked it | liked it a lot! | loved it | a favorite
don’t watch period | drop if not interested within 2-3 episodes | give it a go, could be your thing | 5 star recommendation
fav characters: ema i guess but that’ll probably change once yoshida gives ema the vr tm annoying edgy backstory (and i also can’t stand anyone else)
least fav characters: yusaku, go, ryoken, light, windy, earth, bohman, spectre, blood shepard, god i hate literally everyone in this show
fav relationship: yusaku & homura’s friendship is ok ig
fav moment: ryoken’s dad dying because he fucking deserved that shit don’t tell me he didn’t don’t TELL me that man DESERVED ANY FORM OF REDEMPTION
headcanons/theories: miyu aint the lost girl she’s just there to fuel the “aoi struggles to make friends” storyline. probably gonna be some girl aoi was friends with and somehow aoi struggled to maintain the friendship im calling this shit rn
unpopular opinion(s): i. i have so many literally any opinion i have on this show is unpopular but here we go:
data////storm is bad and it romanticizes mental illness and nearly all the fan content does this too. please stop. please fucking stop romanticizing possession, ptsd, and any other mental illness with these two it isn’t healthy, it’s gross, and it’s really shitty. (note: not all. nearly all from my experience) below is a tweet from my boyfriend that summarizes up my point pretty well
ryoken ain’t deep he’s 2d as fuck and horribly written and also he’s ugly as shit irl
aoi’s written horribly too she hasn’t developed at all and if she’s really the lost girl then her bad writing shows. it shows they shoehorned this shit in at the last minute when there were plenty of other opportunities to foreshadow it. (if u say that 1 frame from ep 19 ill scream bc that’s not foreshadowing at all)
ptsd and other mental illnesses are handled horribly in this show. vr is NOT a positive example of ptsd and other mental illnesses at all so please stop looking up to it as something it clearly isn’t
akira’s the only consistent character in vr. literally no one else is consistent in their motivations or goals (maybe homura but i honestly stopped watching at some point)
you don’t need to give every single character an edgy backstory. it’s not heartbreaking, it’s not emotional, and it’s not good representation. it’s annoying and honest to god it’s a fucking joke at this point. vr is literally a shitting contest to see who has the edgiest backstory. from what i’ve heard go’s entire character motivation is to beat playmaker and get the power playmaker has and akira was just “yeah its his fuckin trauma lol” and go was just “gimme that” (i only saw screenshots but you get the point)
there is no reason for every single character in this show to have some sort of angsty backstory. it should be limited to the six kids and their relatives (like kusanagi or akira if aoi’s the lost child). blood shepard doesn’t need an angsty backstory. go doesn’t need one. ema doesn’t need one. haru and bohman don’t need one. RYOKEN DOESN’T FUCKING NEED ONE it’s also shit anyways
none of these characters are even real characters??? they’re just models drawn on a sheet and they’re given voices to participate in whatever duel of the week they need to. go’s the worst victim of this but it carries over to literally anyone with a duel disk. this is why we get our “main girl” vanishing for like 20 fucking episodes without a word.
the ignis are the only interesting concept in this show and yet the show REFUSES to do anything with them. the cyberse world is boring, the war between the ignis is boring because there’s no motivation outside of “welp i guess i hate humans.” why didn’t the ignis create their own sub species or kids or their own society? it gives em something to fight for and some motivation outside of hating humans for the sake of hating humans.
this show doesn’t know how to use it’s budget. most of the experienced vas are voicing characters that barely appear (vyra, aqua, etc)
how’d you find it: i like ygo so. i just heard about it.
random thoughts: stop saying it’s the darkest ygo when it isn’t, stop bashing arc v in ur vr positvity posts im sick and fucking tired of it.
i’m also sick and tired of every flaw in this show being excused because it’s literally a pandering shit show (no ryoken and yusaku aren’t good representation they’e fucking bait) yet arc v isn’t allowed a single fucking slip up. i’m so fucking tired.

I like that many of the complaints I see pull on stuff from books and comics and such and how the movies dont answer any questions (which if you've read things you got your answers right?) ..... where as me who has not gotten to read a single SW comic or book and has just seen the shows and movies has .... no problem filling in info.
Leia is able to save herself because .... oh yeah in The Clone Wars a Jedi also goes out into space, utilizes the force, and fights droids.... without any sort of protection covering his body and blatantly states "I can withstand the pressure for a brief time". Now, I have always - and still do - take that as him using the force not because of his physiology. He doesnt go out with anything protecting his body. At all. So, yeah, Leia surviving space merely told us shed been trained and used her powers. And given that she is actually NOT 100% alright she was reaching a point of being out there to long. She didnt pull herself back fast enough .... but she managed to react fast enough to do what she can and I wouldnt be surprised if part of why she was how she was is she was trying to save others .... not herself.
Rey .... I see many question how she got so good with a lightsaber so fast. Well, I mean, she grew up in a planet where defending yourself was needing. No one seems to go "how did Luke learn to fire a blaster" because it's kind of obvious his situation on Tattoine makes it a necessary thing to know. Yet, somehow no one really questions how Anakin -the slave child who would have limited leisure time - knows how to pod race? (Seriously, no one seems to question that and just accepts hes one with the force or whatever .... but hey). I seriously saw an article talking about a force power Rey has that could be vital and explain a lot and so many commenters were simply going "mary sue", powers never seen (open the article and it mentions places the powers have been seen lol), plot armor, etc etc etc .... like it's a surprise and they dont already know about what the article is talking about. It's the power from when she touched the damn lightsaber and she saw things. Its talking about her ability to see the past .... which again if you watch The Clone Wars we see one of the Jedi in that has something similar .... so it's not some new thing more she HAPPENS to have it and they are bringing it to the big screen.
Basically, what I'm getting at is all these people who are complaining are doing so largely because everything they enjoyed about Star Wars was dubbed not canon (at least from what I see) .... which .... um .... as someone who is also a Trek fan this is why I only count original media type as canon (i.e. visual vs written. Star Wars is movies so movies and tv shows is canon, books and comics and games are all secondary canon - even if Disney says the book is canon my brain wont take it as canon because they didnt put it into the medium in which Star Wars was presented to us from the get go).
If you want to complain that you still have questions before the FINAL movie .... good. You should. If everything is answered then there would be no need for that movie. Hell, with the OT I had questions. I was laughing at father and leia bit and not believing it because at no point did they ever imply that possible (they kissed okay how the fuck are they related, I dont care if grew up apart you dont do that then just ignore that). There was a lot of questions I'm just saying and the prequels opened more questions. But guess what everything is being wrapped up and as I rewatching the movies and shows things are making a bit more sense with these movies out there. Because if Palpatine is back then that fucker clearly had some plan in place in case he got defeated because honestly how did he not prepare for Anakin Skywalker, Mr. devoted to family, not to turn on him?
But yeah .... anyways .... my point is people how so many reasons to hate that I think a lot of it is a mix of Disney cut their favs out, Disney being .... well Disney, and Rey/Leia/etc doing stuff they dont want to put a stamp of approval on because then they have to thank Disney
#which i get that#star wars#i dont want to thank disney#so i thank carrie fisher instead#also han and luke died while leia stayed longer and i think for many of them that sits weird because luke was the man character in OT#its not a sexist thing there its why kill off the OT main character second but the thing is Leia has resonated with so many#and each movie was meant to give each a send off#so i dont know if that meant so to was gonna die in 9 for her big thing i do wish they give us something for the original intent#to let us know after what that was#but 9 was supposed to feature leia story being wrapped up#and personally i think each got a good wrap up#han was always the the scruffy looking nerf herder ... who really wasnt that#he was caring and kid and good and taking in rey was his making up for kylo moment and his going to kylo was making up to leia moment#that moment was never about kylo redemption is was the Obi-Wan death equivalent and `Qui-Gon death equivalent#the master father figure who dies as they do what they do and have their moment before the one theyve been giving something to in the movie#both finn and rey found something in Han and Chewie always had a friend there#Luke in the second movie was equivalent to Yoda in the OT#hidden away and exiled but yet also cut off from the force#he had punished himself for what he had done and yet by the end of the movie he realizes.... that isnt who he is#that he should have left with rey#but its to late so he uses all that he has to do all that he can and sacrifices himself for his sister and the resistance#and most importantly to tell his nephew he failed him#that he messed up#in so many ways each of these moments for han and luke havent been so much a redemption moment for kylo but a redemption moment for failure#for when they - being it justified or not - did wrong by ben skywalker#and during that Rey has been reminding Kylo he can just be Ben he doesnt have to try to be someone else#im so curious what Leia part in 9 was gonna be for this theme that parallels the other trilogies in their own ways because its so powerful#and im getting off my soapbox jow#hope all this show

TEXT REVIEW OF INFINITY WAR
UNFOLLOW ME IF YOU DONT WANT TO READ THESE SPOILERS I DONT USE THIS ACCOUNT SEE IF I CARE . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Seriously this is gonna have spoilers go away if you dont wanna see.
I liked it. Kinda want to see it again and may change my mind on stuff at a later date but I want to get these thoughts out while they’re in my mind.
1. STORY STRUCTURE: The structure of this film is weird? But not really. It makes sense once you realize Thanos is the main character. Act One we’re being introduced to all the different heroes, which is done masterfully and paced really well so we never feel overwhelmed despite the sheer size of the cast. Act Two starts once Gamora tells Star Lord he may have to kill her, and then Thanos is re-introduced. I’ll come back to this later but I dislike that there’s a good couple scenes where its just GotG characters interacting with each other with no Avengers around. Like this is an Avengers movie. Couldn’t SOME Avengers character have been around for this Like this is a crossover why are these characters still with just their regular crew? Anyways from then on Thanos’s POV takes center stage. Once Gamora is dead Thanos, like Thor, has nothing he really cares about left to lose. He’s at his lowest, despite also being 2 stones away from infinite power. Act Three begins with him this way, recalling to Doctor Strange his origin, and reasserting his resolve to go through with this. He beats both of the split forces of the Avengers, one on Titan, and the other in Wakanda, and despite nearly being beaten three different times, he manages to snap his fingers. We see the results of the world he’s created, while he sits back and watches the sunset.
I like that they decided to let Thanos win and kill half the universe. I know it’ll traumatize a lot of kids watching the movie, but like, these things are rated PG 13. There have been sex references and character deaths and such in these for a long long time. Its the big bad final battle for the Avengers and they needed a cliff to hang on and so they hung people. I dont believe the people turned to ash will stay dead, but I didn’t expect a happy ending either. PLUS this gives us time to really focus on the characters that need more room to finish their arcs in the real finale.
I like the way the movie is structured. It doesn’t feel overcrowded and it makes a lot of sense when you realize its Thanos’s movie not any of the heroes’. And it helps make Thanos the most developed bad guy in any MCU film. SPEAKING OF WHICH.
2. CHARACTERS: (the long one)
-THANOS: The best bad guy in any MCU film. Not my FAVORITE bad guy in an MCU film though. Loki still holds that title, and if we’re counting the Netflix shows, Fisk and Kilgrave are still PRETTY dope. Thanos is WONDERFUL. But I neither love him or love to hate him. I appreciate what was done with him though. He earns his place as the biggest threat in this universe, despite a lack of real competition. You feel his struggle, even though you really want him to fail. Its really well done. Cant help but wonder why no mention of his love for Lady Death though? I at least expected Hela to show up and be like “SURPRISE IM LADY DEATH” or something idk. We never saw her die in Ragnarok. Is that really not something they’re gonna at least do something off of?
-THOR: despite spending MOST of the movie on what is basically a side quest, he’s the hero who gets the most development. I figured that the way Ragnarok was handled was done specifically to set this up and I got what I expected to fall out from that and then some. I love his arc in this. I love his conversations with Rocket and I love how powerful he is now. He’s just really well handled and I love how he’s developed as a character. Also, side note, I like that each Avengers movie changes which of its members gets the most development. Cap was the one who was still finding his place and going through an arc in the first one, Tony is dealing with paranoia and being the one to create Ultron in AoU, and Thor is still dealing with the death of his people here.
-TONY: I have less to say here. I hate nanite tech being used in pretty much anything. idk why it just bothers me. It always feels dumb. but it was fine here actually. I love his conflict with Strange and Peter and the other Peter. I love that he has to deal with watching everyone else die. The whole movie plays on your expectation that Tony is going to die in the end and then COMPLETELY subverts that and I love it.
-DOCTOR STRANGE: Great. Comes off a little more of a jerk than he does in his own film but we also mainly see him through the eyes of Tony, so I think thats why. I love his magic and how smart and calculated he is in combat compared to the other characters. The Russos are VERY aware and very good at showing the characters’ character traits via how they fight which is good considering how much action there is in this movie.
-SPIDER-MAN: I swear he’s more competent here than in his own movie. Also we see SPIDEY SENSE GO OFF which we NEVER SEE HAPPEN IN HIS OWN MOVIE. He still doesn’t REALLY feel like Peter Parker though which is weird bc he almost did by the end of Homecoming and now here he just kinda reverted back out of that.
-GAMORA: Really great. Somewhere in between Guardians 1 and now she stopped being every single one of Zoe Saldana’s characters in anything ever to being a pretty fleshed out character. Though its kinda weird that Thanos’s other children in this movie are so much more loyal to him than her and Nebula are? Like whats up with them? Why is Gamora the favorite when she openly hates him?
-STAR-LORD: Great. Not much else to say.
-ROCKET AND GROOT: ALSO great. They’re especially great as sidekicks to Thor. They have some great exchanges, even if their screentime was primarily spent on a side quest. I nearly squealed when Groot used his arm to create the Stormbreaker Axe. I’m annoyed Groot died again at the end. WE’VE SEEN ROCKET MOURN GROOT’S DEATH BEFORE THIS ISN’T INTERESTING OR NEW.
-DRAX AND MANTIS: pretty good. I like them both. If anything there’s probably too much of them. I love them so I cant complain too much but like idk I feel like we saw more of these Guardians side characters than some of the Avengers main characters in an Avengers movie.
-WANDA AND VISION: Wanda has always been one of my fav characters in the MCU and that doesn’t change here. Her romance with Vis is great. Honestly I love her whole arc and I love how its foreshadowed by Gamora telling Quill to kill her earlier in the film. Wanda having to lose the closest person to her AGAIN is emotional and sad and everything and idk Elizabeth and Paul give great performances and both do a great job playing some good characters. Vis is basically a damsel in distress the whole film, which seems disingenuous because he’s like the most powerful avenger prior to Thor’s buff over these last couple movies. But I guess it makes sense in context. They’re not GREAT but like I said I like them so I’m biased.
-CAP, FALCON, AND NAT: Kinda useless tbh. They dont do much. They dont even have many lines. Like they fight in the Wakanda battle. Thats it. They’re tired and grumpy because they’ve been on the run for TWO YEARS. Something we dont see at all. Not that thats what I want to see, but... they’re basically just there to shuttle Wanda and Vision to Wakanda and then fight a bit.
-T’CHALLA, OKOYE, SHURI, AND M’BAKU: Even quieter and less notable than the Cap crew. Which really cheapens how much of the film takes place in Wakanda. Like, why does the Cosmic stuff feel authentic to what James Gunn built in the Guardians movies, while this stuff feels so underwritten and underrepresented? We have four Wakandan characters here and they do so hecking little. AND THEN T’CHALLA IS ONE OF THE PEOPLE WE SEE TURN TO ASH. WHAT? WE ALREADY GOT A FAKE OUT DEATH WITH HIM IN HIS OWN MOVIE. I HATED IT THERE. WE GOTTA SEE HIS FAMILY DEAL WITH HIM BEING DEAD AGAIN??? Shuri better become black panther in avengers 4 man. thats the only way I’ll be ok with him dying a SeCONd TiME.
-BUCKY, RHODEY, NICK FURY, MARIA HILL, LOKI, RED SKULL AND HEIMDALL: all play really small parts but manage to do their jobs and be really notable anyways. Shoutouts to them.
-BRUCE BANNER: meh. Bruce has finally kind of accepted the Hulk but Hulk is scared of Thanos so he wont come out. So Bruce spends the whole movie in his head having conflict with himself and not really engaging with whats going on? Kind of a dumb choice imo like if CAP is a minor character whos mainly there to banter with other people so should Banner. We dont even really see him interact with Ross or Rhodes once he gets back to Avengers HQ. dumb but not a big deal.
3. SMALL DETAILS:
-Music was weirdly lacking from a lot of the movie. Like it feels like Silvestri only orchestrated like half of the film. So much of it is just left.. quiet. Empty. This is INFINITY WAR. IT SHOULD BE ALL ABOUT THE SPECTACLE.
-Are Valkyrie, Korg and Miek still alive? We dont see them at all on the Asgardian ship?
-What happened to Sean Gunn’s character? Also wasn’t Nebula still with the Guardians at the end of Vol 2? Did I miss something or...?
-How did Thor know to go to Wakanda? He should have been going to Titan to meet up with Quill, right?
-How does the Bifrost work if the Bifrost is broken? That was a big thing in Thor 1 wasn’t he?
-They didn’t get Hugo Weaving back to play Red Skull but thats fine I still geeked out when he showed up.
-Peter Dinklage was good but he was in the movie too long. Thor’s stuff really felt side questy even though its the best stuff in the film.
I think thats about everything it was good but not GREAT k bye

most LGBT/non-white fans aren't happy with how there was still no LGBT representation canonically and how they reduced poe to stereotypical latino tropes, made finn's arc the same as tfa basically (and sidelined him in for adam driver which is just racism lmao) and how underused and underwritten a lot of the characters were/how they mischracterized rey/how they REALLY mischaracterized luke and like the overall pacing was p bad, so white ppl liked it and dumbass kylo stans did too but that it
first off, why u anon, i’m not mean to people who message me generally and i won’t send followers after you because that’s a shitty thing to do, now i have to make a big long response publicly instead of using the messenger app, sorry everyone, long post incoming:I WANT LGBT representation to be canon in star wars but i know that they’re not gonna do it and it’s frustrating but not unexpected. Big budget genre FILMS (tv is different) are so lacking in LGBT content, it’s frustrating that off the top of my head the only example i can think of where it’s not sub-textualised via aliens is Sulu in the Star Trek reboot universe.
but let’s look honestly at how the people who run star wars and the actors responded to questions about LGBT content in interviews: there is spoilers blackout aversion, and actors explicitly supporting fans for their interpretations of characters but at no point was there a promise to show that sort of representation.
Disney has shown before that if they’re going to include LGBT content in their big films they do address it directly, much was made of Lefou in beauty and the beast and there was backlash because the actual content was so minor and still fairly subtextual.
With the Last Jedi no promises were maid so not getting LGBT content is frustrating for me and others but I can’t fault the film for it only the creators and a criticism of studios and directors and writers does not mean the movie itself is flawed for that specific reason. At least in my view. It’s blaming an absence of a feature that was never promised. would it be better with that feature? YES! but i also think it would have been better for various writing changes but the writing choices that were made are what we have to assess it on.
As to Poe being stereotypically Latino, I don’t live in a country with enough of a latino population to have much insight on that but I will say that I don’t understand this argument.
my PERSONAL view of Poe in this film is that last time we didn’t get any depth to his character outside of friendly heroic pilot, this time we are starting to be introduced to his flaws, that being his inability to see the big picture, he always makes good strategies and plans and is a great leader and has a sense of humour, these are good qualities, and when he is called impulsive it’s by generals who have the experience to think about the bigger picture where he goes for the most damage on a small scale, Poe has a very complimentary arc to Fin in that they both have to shift their thinking when the resistance is weakened because saving people becomes more important than always beating the bad guys.
so from that understanding of his character I don’t understand what stereotypes are being used here? genuinely please let me know because is it that he’s “hot-headed”? it’s a war and they are losing and because of that he makes the wrong decision and lashes out when he is restricted and believes his superior is making the wrong choice so all the “hot-headed” stuff is really just character complexity and his prominence in the plot is the reason why it’s only applied to him. IDK what other stereotypes there are i legit haven’t seen that criticism actually explained in detail yet so if any latinx fans can let me know i’d be glad
Fin’s arc isn’t the same, yes he’s been sidelined and its annoying because I hate the thing they sidelined him for too but when we do focus on his character they evolve his problems from TFA: running away out of fear and self loathing becomes running from one responsibility because he believes they’re a lost cause in the moment and wants to protect Rey, which becomes planning to sacrifice himself to lash out at first order in a way that mirror’s Poe’s journey because they both have to think better than that about who they’re fighting for.
There are so many characters to juggle in the film and by partnering Finn up with Rose they do detract from his character development but only to allow her to help him and introduce her to the stage at the same time as moving the plot along and setting up things for the next movie thematically. Finn was underserved but it was due to a writing puzzle of balancing an ensemble cast and ultimately at this point his story is supportive of the main plot but not directly a part of it and they could have done that differently but again that’s a writing flaw but not what I would call the worst part of the film i think people took it too hard and would like to hear a response to my reading of Finn’s place in the story in some detail too.
Also I love Rose and her dynamic with Finn was my fav and desperately needed because they keep having Finn Poe and Rey be separated in these films and we needed that friendly banter and mutual support space filled and Rose is honestly the heart and soul of the resistance even if the casino sequence was written in a very on the nose blatant way these films are for a very broad audience and some people need that stuff spelled out for them. (i’ve seen TLJ twice and both times i think most people in the audience missed the kid using the force at the end which i thought was wonderfully subtle before his posing became blatant visually with the broom)
underuse and underwriting are both side effects of the ensemble cast and i’m willing to forgive the clumsiness of it generally but you’re correct about Rey’s writing, I’ve said it before but everything about her and kylo and snoke and Luke contained in the scenes between the second force skype conversation and Kylo waking up on the floor is the characters making bad choices, that’s why it feels out of character. the rest of the film even when characters make mistakes everyone is behaving consistently and there’s a balance but in that entire segment of the film all four characters make the wrong decisions. the results of these scenes afterwards is fine but i wish they hadn’t decided to have rey trust kylo so readily, considering her character history as a scavenger you know she’d be more skeptical than that. And with Luke his reticence to tell her the truth is frustrating because that’s what happened to him regarding his father and he should know better, I think the moment of weakness misread as utter betrayal was interesting, not a great choice on the writing side but i’m willing to deal with it. outside of those scenes though it’s like the competent writing suddenly returned!
Bad pacing? yeah, but it’s the middle film in a trilogy there was a lot of ground to cover.
also listen there’s nothing wrong with being a fan of villians in a work of fiction and personally i loved watching hux suffer and kylo get the door slammed in his face and just because i find his character entertaining doesn’t mean i wanted the rey/kylo romance teasing that happened. I have to accept that the writers are going for redemption arc stuff here but honestly give me complex pathetic villain who dies dramatically at the end and i’ll be happy,
I wrote out all these paragraphs because you made a whoooole lot of generalisations and i wanted to respond with personal thoughts and specificity,\
I can’t speak for groups i’m not a part of but i can give my personal reasons for liking the film. at the end of the day it’s not the worst star wars film and of my expectations of the franchise some flaws are a part of it. I LIKE goofiness intentional or not in my genre fiction.
Representation-wise the LGBT stuff would have been wonderfull but as of right now it wasn’t something i felt should be expected but instead it is something I think should be pressured onto the creators to include canonically because there’s literally no reason not to include it that isn’t getting money from garbage people who hate diversity.
On a casting level i love the inclusivity of race in the cast, not just with Finn, Poe, and Rose being the majority of our new young heroes, but also of background characters because that sort of understated representation is important too. Do i think the writing could be better? sure, but as far as stereotyping goes i don’t believe there’s deliberate and malicious intent there, any flaws are unintentional on the writers side and their personal biases, but personally I still don’t see the specific problem you’re citing here and would like to hear more about it because I don’t get it.
also pls chill with the “white people and kylo stans” attitude here because i get why people don’t like adam driver, but you’re being deliberately escalating in your language and i’m not okay with that, it’s a false equivalence of the concepts of white complacency when it comes to representation with….. people who like the main villain.
He’s the main bad guy. he’s played by an actor cast with his looks in mind because he’s one of the few villains who doesn’t spend the whole film behind a mask or with cgi or makeup effects obscuring him, he’s placed in a position of power and given sympathetic elements because a complex villain is more interesting than, oh, say, every simple evil marvel villain who wants to destroy the earth (and I say that as someone who likes marvel films) they knew they couldn’t recapture the appeal of darth vader so they aimed for audience enjoyment in a different way and it worked and it’s pointless to be mad at fans of star wars for liking it’s main villain?
I’m not saying fans who take it too far by going “he did nothing wrong”/”his victimisation excuses his actions” or who woobie-fy him or who shit on other characters are in the right here, they’re not, and it is frustrating when there’s so many good characters that others lose screen time and complexity to focus on him when he’s a shitty fascist who wants power for himself.
just like, de-escalate your aggression here because i’m talkative as hell and I also want better representation but I’m also one hundo percent about viewing media and people complexly and in terms of the fiction i thought it was a good film and in terms of the choices by the creators in how they crafted that film i thought they did okay but could have done waaay better and that’s what fans want.
i’m not gonna speak for most LGBT/non white fans because I’m only a part of one of those categories personally but i’m SURE a chunk of the audience responses in those reviews trashing the movie are from straight white cis dudes who are mad about all the POC in the film or goofy writing choices they feel undermines their view of the movie and they’re objectively wrong about a lot of things but their opinions are still added to that review percentage and the only way to know who thought what from what background and coming from what perspective is to go through every review and make a chart and that sort of research isn’t something i’ve done and you probably haven’t done it either so we can only speak from our view from discussing with friends and online and on tumblr i have seen some lgbt and poc responses and most of them are positive, a couple of people aren’t and that’s only my dashboard but i can’t assume it represents the communities as a whole
so anyone seeing this long ass post who hasn’t unfollowed me: what’s your opinion?

Dear New ARMYs
Dear New ARMYs Please take good care of our boys when you become an ARMY. Please don't only love one member, as it's a rule for all of ARMY to appreciate every single member no matter what. First, there's our leader, Kim Namjoon aka Rap Monster He is brilliant. He's in the top percentage of intellects in South Korea, and taught himself how to speak and write English fluently. He raps like no other and is secretly the actual visual of the band. I mean, he's perfect. Second is Kim Seokjin. He's the oldest of the group, but acts like the youngest (maknae). His favourite colour is pink, and he loves food. He even has his own show called EAT Jin where he eats food live and talks to the fans. He's the visual of the group and most definitely the most underrated, so we welcome new Jin stans with open arms! Third is Min Yoongi aka Suga aka Agust D. I'm honestly not sure where to start with Yoongi, as he is my idol, and a person who I look up to a lot. He is the main rapper of the group, writes all the lyrics, and produces the songs. He is a god send. he's also the boyfriend of Jimin, though he won't admit it. I don't want to give a lot away, but you should look into him on your own, and read about his background, because honestly, he's been through so much and deserves the world. Fourth is Jung Hoseok aka J-Hope aka Hobi. He. Is. The. Fucking. Sun. Hobi, our hope, our angel, J-Hope. Hobi is the main dancer and actually makes a lot of the choreos for the group, so he's just amazing. He's very happy, energetic and honestly, you can't help but love him. His raping voice is very unique but beautiful non-the-less. Y'all better Stan him as hard as ya can because he's the real deal. Fifth is Park Jimin. Honestly, there isn't a soul in ARMY who doesn't like Jimin. He's so bubbly, and cute, and so much more. He's a lil smol bean, and is the shortest of the group and is thus made fun of for that reason. But, we still love him no matter what. Despite his angelic, pure face, this boy is sin and I'd be surprised to ever find someone who didn't like him from the off. Sixth is Kim Taehyung aka V. Tae (my first bias) is honestly perfect. He's the perfect blend of unique, cute and manly. This boy is O B S E S S E D with Gucci and he wears 100% Gucci only. One thing I NEED to point out: NEVER EVER GIVE HIM THE NICKNAME ALIEN. HE HATES IT AND ITS DISRESPECTFUL TO HIM. IM WARNING YOU RN. Anyway, he's lovely, and his voice is very smooth and deep, and just amazing. Last (and definitely not least) is Jeon Jungkook. My current bias, Kookie (his nickname) is the youngest of BTS and by far one of the best singers ever. He covers a lot of English songs which show his amazing voice, and he is referred to as the Golden Maknae as there is NOTHING he can't do. When he debuted at 15, he could sing, dance, rap, and everything in between. Jungkook is honestly talent in a human but very awkward so please take care of him. BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan (방탄 소년단) which is Korean for Bulletproof Boy Scouts. Now I'm gonna make this clear - if you're a fan who ain't gonna stay, please, please, just don't hurt the boys while you're a fan. I'm aware there will be bandwagon fans and I'm prepared for it, but please don't hurt our boys. They're so precious and what they achieved last night is something no Kpop artist has ever done. Please respect them. If you're looking for bomb-ass songs to get to know them, here are a few (or a lot) to get you started: Cypher Part 4 - the newest instalment of the rap line ROASTING HOES Dead Leaves - my favourite, and pretty much everyone's favourite Tomorrow - literally saved my life Run - dasi run run runnnnn I Need U - this is dope af Dope - talking of Dope. This is the song that introduced me to the boys and I love it Whalien 52 - a beautiful song that you should listen to - Begin Lie Stigma First Love These are solo songs. 100% Reflection worth listening to Mama Awake - No More Dream - their debut song Like - DONT WANNA BE FOOL WANNA BE COOL WANNA BE LOVED SAME LOVE AS YOUUUU War of Hormone - la la lalalalaaaa Coffee - a metaphorical song wow Save Me - THE CHOREO FOR THIS IS AMAZING N.O. - because fuck rules and society Cypher Part 3 - my fav part worth the listen because Yoongi talks about giving head kinda OTHER SONGS THAT ARENT BTS The boys also release their own songs that are worth listening to. Lost Stars - Cover by Jungkook Fools - Cover by Jungkook and Rap Monster 1 Verse - J-Hope Agust D - Agust D (Suga/Yoongi) Tony Montana - Agust D The Last - Agust D Joke - Rap Monster Do You - Rap Monster Someone Like You - Cover by V Eomma - Jin That's just a very SMALL selection of songs, they have a lot of amazing tracks to listen to so definitely just spend time listening to all their albums and mini-albums. Please send love and respect, and understand that Kpop is completely different to western pop. It is absolutely amazing, as idols are trained for years before debut. It's hard, backbreaking, and so different to western pop. Don't just Stan BTS either, there's lots of other AMAZING groups to at least take a look at, as BTS are a third generation group, second gens like EXO, SHINee and Big Bang are phenomenal and you should definitely check them out. Other third gens like GOT7, Pentagon and Red Velvet are equally awesome. The girls are amazing btw. Just putting that out there. There's also a k-hip hop scene which I LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE with the likes of Jay Park, Gray, Zico, Mino, Ugly Duck, Crush (kinda), CL, Hyuna and a shit ton more. ARMY welcome you all to the fam, we will love you and take care of you and teach you everything you need to know, but in exchange, all we ask for is respect to BTS, that's all. A lot of us are scared about what is going to come from the BBMAs so please, don't let our worst fears come true! Welcome to ARMY 💖💕
