Ride Kamens is still doing prerelease marketing and isn't out yet; it's set for "early summer 2024", so a bit yet to go! similar to Twst, it's a mobile game about anime boys loosely based on an existing franchise (Kamen Rider), although it seems like it's going to be more standalone/won't require familiarity with Rider going in.

the (very) basic premise is that your player character has just taken over their late father's role as a secret agent, supporting the city's superheroes by running a secret base disguised as a cafe (plus you have a personal butler for some reason) (the reason is because it's amazing). you also have to help the heroes regain their lost memories, and it looks like it'll have a bit of a route/choice aspect there (not romance, just different endings to the character episodes depending on what you do). the details are kinda hard to tell at this point but the characters seem like a really fun bunch; there's definitely big "idiots with emotional problems" energy which I am extremely into.

all the official info is in Japanese only at the moment, but here's the website and the ride_kamens twitter! (though the twitter is sort of overtaken by posts about the AnimeJapan exhibit right now, whoops.) and I believe some people are already planning on doing translations for it too? lots to look forward to! :D

#horizon zero dawn #hzd remaster #hzd photomode #hello i am (temporarily? work will eat me one of these days) back #honestly didn't play much horizon lately #mostly control and the odd glacier pic session #felt a little burnt out #but. now the remaster is out i'm being reminded why i love this game so much and god.#you can tell they tried to get it more in line with hfw visually #but it is still distinctly hzd and i could just cry at its beauty all day #can't wait to explore all the areas i've loved to bits in the original and see what they look like now #unfortunately photo mode is still a hassle but we'll make do #they added an option to turn off lens flare. i'm content #...at least i think you couldn't do that before? i remember lens flare giving me a headache regularly #maybe i'm just misremembering

i don't think we appreciate the immense potential stede has as a teacher enough. this man was born to love a Teach and to love to teach. his teacher vibes are so strong that this was literally my very first reaction to ofmd:

he's caring! welcoming! warm and receptive to everyone's needs! he's more than willing to provide them the resources [that he thinks] they need!

he observes everyone and figures out what their personal talents and interests are. he encourages open discussions and even uses wee john's flag criticism to create an impromptu activity for them to improve their practical and interpersonal skills!

just look at him patiently walking around in his classroom, giving everyone positive reinforcement and even averting a small crisis between the swede and roach, gently reminding them to treat each other with respect

and of course, he values everyone's work so much that he famously displays all of their flags as the very symbol of their ship!

are his strategies appropriate in the context of piratehood? nope! that's why his teacher vibes are strongest in the pilot-- he quickly figures out that this isn't exactly the way one should treat a bunch of fully-grown adventurous pirates. he alters his "responsive and sweet teacher" persona into what his crew actually needs: a captain with a "people-positive management style", which ends up setting him apart from other captains and eventually spelling ned low's doom

but if this man ever ended up having to manage a chaotic high school classroom he would absolutely kill it and quickly become everyone's favorite teacher

the base idea was like this and i wanted to buy a nice long hair wig for her, because the project was partially inspired by a story i'm writing, and the bio-tech character in it has long synthetic hair. sorry for oc cringe but its true 😔

UNFORTUNATELY THE LED MATRIX WE BOUGHT IS BIG HUGE. BIGGER THAN THE MANNEQUIN'S HEAD !!!!! so we might have to rethink this approach.

i was thinking maybe instead of an emotive face we could mount the matrix in the chest area, and have it display a heart instead..? and then we could put something in the face at a later point. scott is not just a hobbyist programmist but he also has some experience as a mechanical engineer – he wanted to try his hand at making animatronic eyes next, so we were thinking of incorporating that at some (distant) point. that's all faaaar future considerations though.

one thing i'm 100% about though, is that there will be no "fake" parts. like we're not gonna add anything like plating or extra cables to make her look more robotic or futuristic. any techy looking parts have to be functional. that's not as much an aesthetic choice as it is a personal priniciple lol. so in the end i think she will mostly look like a creepy mannequin :D which is fine by me. i think that's awesome.

Y'all laugh at the fact that Tartaglia randomly falling into the Abyss one day as a kid ended up being the catalyst for Fontaine's eventual predicted destruction but all this means is that from the start Tartaglia was intended to fall into the Abyss and become a Harbinger and thus has always been doomed by the narrative

#genshin impact #childe #tartaglia #kind of helps line up his story i think #gives it more purpose than just “he fell in a hole by accident and that hole happened to be the frickin pits of the underworld”#doomed to fall into the abyss and wake up the whale. doomed to be trained by skirk and become a harbinger and eventually meet the traveler #DO YOU SEE WHERE I'M GOING WITH THIS #i'm honestly so so curious if they're gonna have him start to doubt his values eventually #i am desperately hoping he has a moment where he has to choose when we inevitably fight the tsaritsa #AND HECK I HOPE HE STICKS WITH US #i really don't want my boy to be SO doomed by the narrative that he frickin DIES >:(#people say he has a lot of death flags and that's kind of true but i think he's safe since he's a playable character #i know playability is totally different from the canon versions of the characters but still #it'd be quite strange to play as a dead guy who doesn't exist anymore and has no further value to the story #can't believe i'm gonna have to wait two frickin years for snezhnaya. unfair #anyway who's excited for the interlude chapter and the inevitable dainsleif comebaaaack
