Honda Jazz Long Term Review

The Honda Jazz pioneered the premium hatchback segment in India when it was first launched in India in 2009. At that time the Jazz offered sedan-like practicality and space along with impressive dynamics but failed to gain the market-share it deserved. The second generation of the vehicle was launched here in 2015 and got a mild update in 2018. The diesel Jazz is now a part of our long term fleet. 

Honda mildly updated the Jazz just a year ago with new features and some cosmetic changes. The facelift brought LED lights and chrome door handles along with turn indicators on ORVMs. The Jazz's modern and premium styling elements don't attract much attention even after the facelift. The design doesn't look dated but there are no major exterior changes with this facelift.

However, this facelift does bring new features to the interior. The interior has always been this car's strong point. Honda has loaded the Jazz with a ton of features such as keyless go, cruise control and automatic climate control to name a few. The top-end variant also gets a reverse parking camera with guidelines. It does miss out on a sunroof unfortunately but the dual-tone black and beige theme does give the cabin an airy feel.

The updated infotainment system is much more responsive and the facelift also brings in support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The front row of seats provide great support and comfort and the same can be said about the rear seats. The cabin is extremely spacious and can easily seat five people in comfort. Even the boot is spacious.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine powering the Honda Jazz makes 99 HP and 200 Nm of torque. The engine has impressive drivability and is ideal for commuting duties. The motor doesn't have any low-end lag and delivers linear performance throughout the rev range. The engine is on the noisier side and becomes more vocal in the top-end but also manages to deliver a stellar 18 km/l of fuel economy which is truly outstanding in this segment. The 6-speed manual gearbox delivers smooth shifts while the clutch is on the lighter side.

Honda has also tuned the suspension to be on the stiffer side resulting in a great ride and handling balance. Sharp bumps do enter the cabin but overall the ride is very pliant. High-speed stability is very good and the body roll is also well contained. Braking performance is decent. The steering also offers remarkable feel and feedback. While being light in the city, it weighs up at higher speeds and offers a good amount of confidence around corners.

The interior of the Honda Jazz is really spacious and comes with a good number of features. The diesel engine is extremely frugal and the Jazz has exceptional dynamics. The Jazz offers sedan-like practicality while still being compact and fun to drive. Despite having all these characteristics, the Jazz is quite under-rated. Although this segment has way too many offerings and the Jazz is one of the most expensive options, people looking for a reliable and spacious hatchback will not be disappointed by this vehicle.

डिजिटल डेस्क, नई दिल्ली। होंडा ने 2018 होंडा जैज फैसलिफ्ट की बिक्री शुरू कर दी है। कंपनी ने दिल्ली में इस कार के शुरुआती मॉडल की एक्सशोरूम कीमत 7.35 लाख रुपये रखी है। वहीं इस हैचबैक के टॉप मॉडल VX की एक्सशोरूम कीमत 9.29 लाख रुपये तय की है। कंपनी ने कार के लाइनअप में बड़ा बदलाव किया है। कंपनी से बेस ट्रिम मॉडल E और S के पेट्रोल वेरिएंट को बाजार से हटा लिया है। वहीं डीजल लाइनअप की बात करें तो कंपनी ने E वेरिएंट को भी बाजार से हटा दिया है। यानी अब कंपनी होंडा जैज फैसलिफ्ट के सिर्फ 4 मॉडल पेट्रोल इंजन में और 3 मॉडल डीजल इंजन में बेचेगी।

होंडा इंडिया ने ऑटोमैटिक कारों की मांग बढ़ते देख अब V और VX मॉडल के साथ CVT ऑटोमैटिक ट्रांसमिशन उपलब्ध कराया है। कार के डीजल वर्जन को मैन्युअल गियरबॉक्स के साथ बाजार में उतारा गया है। कंपनी के अधिकारियों का कहना है कि “ग्राहकों की मांग को ध्यान में रखते हुए 2018 होंडा जैज फेसलिफ्ट को CVT ऑटोमैटिक गियरबॉक्स में भी लॉन्च किया गया है। इस ऑटोमैटिक गियरबॉक्स को कार के पेट्रोल लाइन-अप के साथ पेश किया गया है जिससे बड़ी संख्या में इसे पसंद किया जाएगा जो एक बेहतरीन आरामदाक ड्राइव मुहैया कराएगी।” कार के साथ इंजन विकल्प पुराने होंगे और ये 1.2-लीटर पेट्रोल और 1.5-लीटर डीजल इंजन हैं। नई जैज के पेट्रोल इंजन को 5-स्पीड मैन्युअल और CVT गियरबॉक्स से लैस किया है। वहीं कार का डीजल इंजन 6-स्पीड मैन्युअल गियरबॉक्स के साथ आता है।

2018 होंडा जैज फेसलिफ्ट में कंपनी ने LED टेललैंप्स के साथ कार के केबिन में भी कई बदलाव किए हैं। केबिन में सबसे बड़ा बदलाव इसमें लगाया गया टचस्क्रीन इंफोटेनमेंट सिस्टम है जो एप्पल कार प्ले और एंड्रॉइड ऑटो जैसे फीचर्स से लैस है।  नई हैचबैक को कंपनी की नई डिजाइन लैंग्वेज का इस्तेमाल करके बनाया है, इस डिजाइन को पिछली कई होंडा कारों के लेटेस्ट मॉडल में दिया गया है। होंडा ने इस हैचबैक को सिग्नेचर ‘सॉलिड विंग फेस’ हैडलाइट्स और ग्रिल डिजाइन के साथ नया पैने आकार का अगला बंपर, रेड अंडरलाइन एक्सेंट के साथ और आकर्षक ऐसी वेन्ट्स दिए गए हैं। कार की ग्रिल, OVRMs, मल्टी-स्पोक अलॉय को ब्लैक फिनिश दिया गया है। कार का पिछला हिस्सा पुराने मॉडल की याद दिलाता है, लेकिन कार नए पिछले बंपर और पैनी लाइन्स के साथ आती है।

Honda launches initiative to help people purchase cars online, improve sales during coronavirus lockdown

In an attempt to improve sales during coronavirus lockdown and offer people the choice of buying cars online from the comfort of their homes, Honda Cars India has launched the Honda from Home initiative.

Honda from Home online booking platform will allow buyers round-the-clock access to browse through the product options and choose their preferred dealership online.

“Our newly introduced ‘Honda from Home’ facility offers a simplified and secure booking experience for the ever-revolving digital consumer who makes his purchase decisions online,” said Rajesh Goel, Senior Vice President and Director, Sales and Marketing, Honda Cars India Ltd.

Purchase a car in 5 simple steps

Step 1: Log on to www.hondacarindia.com

Step 2: Select the preferred model along with its variant, transmission (AT/MT) and colour.

Step 3: Select city and dealership from where one is thinking of buying a car.

Step 4: Share details. Step 5: Pay and book online. You have to simply proceed to the payment gateway, choose a payment option and book online.

Following which, a booking confirmation id will be generated which will be sent to you via SMS or email.

After completing the aforementioned process, a sales executive, from the selected dealership, will get in touch with you for further documentation and discussing finance or payment options. After all the formalities, your car will be delivered to your home “at a later date.”

The company currently offers Amaze, Civic and CR-V SUV in BS6 trim in India. It has also been accepting bookings for the BS6 updated and facelift WR-V which is expected to be unveiled soon along with BS6 Jazz. It was scheduled to come up with BS6 version of all-new generation City sedan. But, the launch was delayed due to coronavirus outbreak.

Honda Cars earlier this month had said that it is releasing advance payments to its dealer partners to help them maintain cash flow to remain afloat in the prevailing situations. It also said that it had also cleared all due payments of dealers till March.

Hyundai Palisade SUV Impresses With 5 Stars In NHTSA Crash Tests

Hyundai Palisade comes loaded with safety features and technologies in the global markets and it scored five stars in frontal and side-impact crash tests

Hyundai’s Palisade flagship SUV has been through the latest round of crash tests framed by National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) in flying colours. It has been awarded full five stars by the assessment agency as both the front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions were tested. The eight-seater SUV with the largest footprint for any Hyundai vehicle comes loaded with safety features.

It features standard safety technologies like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Detection, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Occupant Alert system and nine airbags. When equipped with optional LED headlights, the Palisade was also rated as 2020 Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The major highlight of Hyundai Palisade’s NHTSA rating is that it was given full marks in frontal as well as side crash tests. The South Korean auto major uses sensor fusion technology to make Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection and Lane Keeping Assist as standard features in the Palisade, as safety was said to be the brand’s priority.

The Palisade’s optional Safe Exit Assist system uses radar to detect cars approaching from behind and alerts passengers looking to exit the vehicle and if a passenger attempts opening the door, a visual and acoustic warning on the centre cluster will alert the vehicle’s driver.

The Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) system monitors rear seats using ultrasonic sensor to detect children and pets’ movements and notify the driver to check the rear seats. Its sibling from Kia, the Telluride, has drawn plenty of attention from the global audiences as well and it was awarded the coveted 2020 World Car Of The Year.

The Palisade won’t make its way to India but Hyundai has lined up new launches including the third-generation Elite i20. The premium hatchback is expected to debut midway through this year before going on sale and it will continue to compete against Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo. Hyundai had introduced the new-gen Creta and facelifted Verna just a few weeks ago.

Honda Cars commences pre-launch bookings of WR-V facelift

Honda Cars India on Friday said it has commenced the pre-launch bookings of the updated version of its compact SUV WR-V.

The new WR-V, which is scheduled to hit the roads later this month, will be powered by BS-VI compliant petrol and diesel powertrains.

Customers can pre-book the model with an amount of Rs 21,000 at all authorised company dealerships across the country, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) said in a statement.

“We are confident that the model’s bolder new look, stylish LED package and premium interiors will appeal to our discerning customers who are looking for status, comfort and have an active life style,” HCIL Senior Vice President and Director (Sales and Marketing) Rajesh Goel said.

The updated version comes with new front grille, advanced LED projector headlamps with integrated DRL and position lamp, LED front fog lamp among other features.

Honda WR-V, which is based on Honda’s globally successful Jazz platform, was first introduced in India in March 2017.
