Deadpool and Wolverine: KCAU
Christmas Special
Part 5
The Christmas party
Authous note: This story is organized into scenes. It's a party with lots of interactions. I'm sorry for cutting the Father Kurt scene. This may be a bonus later, but it's February, and I'm still doing Christmas shit. Shout-out to @nuggetpool-hi for translation work and @icarusredwings for Workshoping these scenes with me.
Our scene actually opens up in the far flung future... Logan and Wade haven't aged a day since July 2024, though. A cabin in the deep woods nestled in a valley between gigantic mountains... Wade is holding a photo album and a baby girl.
Ok Gabby, Grampa is going to tell you a christmas story, but this one is about your Uncle James.... he was a good boy. Well behaved, and I loved him. Just like I love you... he was a doctor, he saved lives... he wasn't like me or your gump-pa.
but your uncle James did have one family tradition he just couldn't escape... Toxic old man yaoi. Yup, he was doomed by the narrative to be nothing like his parents and exactly like his parents... flipping open the album he turns to a page. James and Greg are standing with Ellie and Mary puppens in front of a large christmas tree decorated with ornaments and lights of various shades of Yellow, Black, Blue and Red. On top was a golden inverted star that had the words "Hail Santa" emblazoned on it. The little girl coos as Wade carefully shows her the picture and our story opens up on the Christmas eve of 2065.
Christmas eve was a buisy occasion and Wade and Logan were the consummate hosts. Dozens of bottles of Asti were chilling in buckets of ice and Wade had made enough lasagna to feed an army...
The immediate challenge for James was getting Greg through cocktail hour without him stirring up drama for fun.
Laura had decided to play bar tender that night and busied herself at the end of the kitchen counter setting up liquor and glasses.
Ellie was at the door greeting the guest as they came in. James and House were in the living room by the impressively sized christmas tree, martini's in hand.
Logan and wade walked over to Laura to get themselves a drink as well.
-Scene one- (telenovela navidad)
Logan, Wade, Laura, James, House
Greg hears Laura having her conversation with her dads... not knowing that he spoke Spanish...
I don't think your sister Luara likes me...
She grew up in a desert wasteland and had to fight to survive she doesn't like a lot of people.
Calling Mexico a desert wasteland sounds a little racist.
I wasn't referring to Mexico... Ass! there's a place called the Void. My dad's found her there... dad used to tell me stories. It's a nightmare world in-between all the worlds... it's where they fell in love.
Of course... they fell in love in a nightmare, hell scape.
It's also why they're not allowed within 50 yards of a Honda dealership... at least that's what Grandma told me years ago.
-Scene 2- (Father knows best)
Wade, James, Greg
Once the party had gotten into full swing, Wade had retired to the bedroom only to shortly return in a tight fitting party dress
A strapless red dress it was brocaded with little silver pine trees. A fox stole was draped around his shoulder... James had told Greg who was taken a little by surprise that the fox was cought by Logan. He'd skinned and treated it and presented it to Wade as an anniversary gift a few years back...
P. e.t.a. is on the long list of people whom have personal beef with Wade and Logan.
Wade walks over to them...
How are you and your boyfriend doing over here kitten?
I'm not gay dad! You were at my wedding's
Wow, all three.
Shut up House!
Fine! Your roommate *he says with exaggerated air quotes* anyways! Yes, I remember your weddings. They were very nice... I also remember writing a check for all three divorce attorneys fees.
For the record, you didn't have to do that.
Kitten, I love you, but your taste in women is equally matched by your taste in attorneys. It's just awful... Thank god we keep Jeff on retainer, and since we're on the record. Your dad and I technically aren't gay either. Ya salty, sally! Shame though, because Greg sure is handsome *winks at Greg* I've always liked a man with permanent 5 o'clock shadow and stubble. Forgive me for assuming that the apple hadn't fallen far from the queer tree.
-Scene 3- (House asks a shark a lot of questions)
Greg, Jeff, James, Sam
In the Howlett-Wilson household, parties were pretty informal affairs. Some people showed up early, and some a little late... Father Wagners "Bamf time" always varies from where he started. Cocktail hour (which is usually a couple hours) was how they made up for that, so everyone was at the dinner table at the same time. So it wasn't unexpected when Jeff and his personal assistant and paralegal Sam walked in half an hour after the party started.
<whispering in a gosspy tone>
James what the fuck just walked in!?
James, seeing the old family friend, nonchalantly answered. That's Jeff and Sam. Jeff is the family attorney. I told you he'd be here.
Yeah but he's a fucking shark! You didn't tell me he'd be a shark!
Lots of attorneys are sharks, James said with a chuckle.
Seeing that Greg was still processing things, he remembered that the little section of New Jersey they lived in didn't see a lot of non-humans nor a lot of mutants...
He specifically is a land shark. Jeff and my dad are old friends. Jeff went to Harvard and is an incredibly talented litigater. He once got both my dads off war crimes charges at The Hague. Though his critics would say he won that case entirely by being distractingly cute.
No, I believe you, Wilson... but how is he breathing? I see gills over his little suit jacket.
You could ask him. He's very friendly.
James grabbed House by the hand and introduced the two of them to House.
Tumblr media
Hello James. It's good to see you. It's a pleasure to meet your friend Greg. I hope you've been staying out of trouble.... though if not, I've been brushing up on medical malpractice law *chuckles*
The shark spoke through electronic assistance. Below the collar of his suit on his neck was a transponder developed by Parker Industries that translated Jeffs grunts chirps and vocalizations into English. A voice came out of his phone via Bluetooth connection that sounded a little A.I. generated but not as stilted and monotone as the late Steven hawking, not perfectly, but emotion and tone could be expressed.
Sam returned with an extra dirty low tide Martini for Jeff who liked the brine of canned tuna... and some of the tuna as a garnish added to his...
James tells me you're quite the talented attorney.
Well, i like to think so... but being a cute littel shark has been a benefit... i disarm people with my cuteness... then I tear them to shreds on the stands.
Where do you get your suits?
As you can imagine, until they make off the rack clothes in shark sizes, i have to have them custom-made... with the company I keep *he looks over at Wade Luara and Logan* i have connections to several custom Taylor's whom are discreet and talented
Cool, cool.... how do you breathe
Honestly... I don't know...
(and neither does the author... couldn't find any lore, and he didn't feel like making any up in case there is some out there... lazy writing if you ask me.)
Was Harvard law hard for you?
The academic part? No... everything else... Kinda. I'm grateful that I have Sam around. It's hard for me to type things and hold a pen.... or drive a car or other activities that bipedal humans can do regularly...
*looking at sam* do you do everything for him?
That'd be a gross exaggeration... Jeff is completely capable of a lot of things. I merely provide reasonable accommodation for the things he can't do... i'm also a paralegal, so i perform the necessary tasks for his firm, such as legal research, fact-finding and checking, interviewing clients, and helping him in court... as well as less glamorous things like paperwork.
So, do you have a girlfriend? Are you a mutant? You always been a shark? How would it work biologically if you had a girlfriend?
*blushing* I... that's a little personal, don't you think?
It is! <whispering> damn it Greg, you can't just ask people how they fuck...
That's not what i said!
That's not the point... I'm sorry jeff please excuse Greg. He's... he's just very curious... excuse us.
Grabbing Greg by the hand, James walks away from the tiny shark attorney and his friend.
That was weird...
Not really, Sam... not in this house. Honestly, that was mild..... i might find him and answer his questions... I just didn't want to talk about it in front of you and James... don't really want to discuss my intimate stuff in front of my godson, ya know.
That's fair... so I got the vibe they're dating...
Oh, absolutely. Not to gossip about a client, but his dad tells me they're roommates... apparently, everyone knows they're together but them. Poor fools.
<chuckles> Scandalous
-Scen 4- Perfect end to a perfect evening.
Logan, Wade, Greg, James, Morph/Kevin
The party went very well and dinner went smoothly, the gayety of the holiday season and the warm conversation was as close to a perfect Norman Rockwell portrait of holiday biss as you were going tobget in this house. No fighting, no shots fired or hands stabbed... James was nervously waiting for the shoe to drop because even Greg had behaved himself engaging in polite dinner conversation...
They made it the whole night through like this... Logan, Wade, Greg and James were getting ready to call it a night... Greg came with 4 champagne glasses.
One last drink for the night, and a toast to our excellent hosts
James absolutely knew something was going on... but didn't put it together until both of his father's had downed their drinks...
Wait dad don't.... shit...
Merely seconds later Logan spoke.
I feel... Drunk, I'm not supposed to feel drunk... not like this *Logan slurred the last sentence*
Well. Logan, I took your advice. I'm being honest with myself... and I'm doing something nice for James...
I've taken the liberty of making a special cocktail for you... your champagne has a heroic dose of Nembutal and Halcion.
You two are exhausting, and if anything James deserves one christmas without the sound of you two perverts going at it like dogs in heat the night before... and the fighting and the constant rambling, seriously Wade do you ever shut up?
Oh Peeeenut... I like him. He's a keeper Kitten. Wade said sleepily before collapsing on the floor.
Bub I....
Logan didn't get the last words out. He fell face forward on to the ground with a loud almost metallic thud cracking one of the granite tiles below him.
Greg! What the fuck!
Merry Christmas!
By the way how heavy is your dad...
About 600 pounds why?
I may have miscalculated his Dose.
He has a metal skeleton...
That's an interesting mutation... I may have killed him.
Wouldn't be the first time someone has killed him, and the metal skeleton is something the Canadian government did to him...
Jesus I thought those people were supposed to be nice.
For fuck sake after a week with my Canadian parents I'd hoped you'd realize thats a myth by now... you should go they're going to wake up shortly. And it's gonna take me and dad both to keep Papa from stabbing you... he really really doesn't react well to being drugged against his will.
No, they won't... when your dad was drinking with me, I observed that half a bottle of everclear had a mild seditve affect after about a minute from ingestion.
He was drunk?
Yes barely...
And it lasted for about 5 minutes before he expressed having a mild hangover for about 12 minutes, then he was sober. I know we don't work with a lot of patients with hyper metabolism or healing factors, but I have observed it. I was able to calculate that his and your other father's metabolism has an increased factor of about 97... 9 grams of Nembutal is enough to kill a normal human... I gave them 100 grams each between that and the Halcion... they will be asleep until morning...
Well, we better move my dad next to Papa, since you sure as shit can't help me lift him in to bed we're just gonna leave them here on the floor...
why do they have to be next to each other?
They're going to be unhappy as it is when they wake up... they freak out when they don't wake up next to each other... it's a thing...
That thing is called being toxicly codependent and you've spent your life catering to that...
Greg my parents love me.
I'm not saying they don't. Trust me, they clearly love you... but they're also a mess, and you've always gotta fix everything and help people... it's what makes you a great doctor... but it also makes you crazy around those two... because they need sooooo much help. so as soon as we put the hit man husbands in their designated dog pile You and I are going to raid that wine fridge for something expensive and watch Rankin and Bass christmas specials and enjoy a quiet christmas evening.
Later that night, the boys had indeed watched cheesy stop motion christmas specials. They had just finished Rudolf, the red noise reindeer when Morph walked out of the Master bedroom in a red dress.
I have been in there dressed as Jessica Rabbit for two hours. What is taking you two.... OH MY GOD! James what the fuck did you do to your dads!
*Pointing at the piled up mercenaries on the floor*
Damn it... yeah. I'm sorry, Uncle Kevin, but they're out cold for the night... sorry for ruining your christmas...
Well shit... It's ok. We still got the weekend, just won't be as special... I guess I got the big bed to myself tonight.... good night boys...
Uncle Kev... before you go. Is that one of my dad's dresses, or did you bring your own?
Kid... red isn't really my color... Now yellow... he says this as he transforms into a picture-perfect copy of Logan. Yellow is more my style... I'm gonna go occupy myself...
Again, sorry. but before you exact your revenge... I want you to know it's 100% Gregorys fault, he drugged them...
Traitor!
Secen 6 On the Jet
The following morning, cooler heads prevailed... they did not, in fact, cut Gregory into thin ribbons. Logan had actually had the best sleep hed had in probably 20 years... they forgave and chalked it up to normal Howlett-Wilson household shenanigans. Wade actually appreciated how clever the sly doctor was. But as they say. All good things come to an end, and Jame and Greg were soon wisked away to the airport to return home to New Jersey.
Wilson... despite drugging him, your dad Wade handed me this before we left... told me not to open it until we were on the plane...
Well, I'm here, so I doubt it's a bomb.
Greg opens the box and understands why it was so suspiciously heavy. He pulled out a gold brick and a note and showed it to Wilson...
Dad has always been weird with gifts... what's the note say...
It says, "Merry Christmas and welcome to the family, I stole this from Saddam hussein in the 90s. It's yours now.... Wilson... I'm pretty sure this is your dowry
Sure...
James... I actually need to talk to you about something.
The end

Fuel-Efficient Cars: Revolutionizing the Road to Smarter Driving
youtube
In an age where environmental awareness and financial prudence go hand in hand, fuel-efficient cars have become a vital choice for modern drivers. At Efficient Car, we’re committed to guiding you through this exciting transition to smarter, more sustainable driving. Let’s dive into what makes fuel-efficient vehicles the cornerstone of today’s automotive landscape, their benefits, and how to pick the perfect model for your lifestyle.
Understanding Fuel-Efficient Cars Fuel-efficient cars are engineered to deliver maximum performance with minimal fuel consumption. By leveraging advanced technologies, lightweight materials, and innovative designs, these vehicles reduce fuel usage and emissions. Whether powered by gasoline, diesel, hybrid systems, or electricity, fuel-efficient cars are tailored for both eco-conscious and budget-savvy drivers.
Why Choose Fuel-Efficient Cars?
Significant Cost Savings Fuel-efficient cars offer excellent mileage, cutting down your fuel expenses dramatically. While the upfront cost of some models might be higher, the long-term savings often outweigh the initial investment—particularly for frequent travelers or those with long commutes.
Reduced Environmental Impact Opting for a fuel-efficient car is a direct way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to cleaner air. These vehicles use less fuel, making them a practical solution for combating climate change and supporting global sustainability goals.
Cutting-Edge Technology Modern fuel-efficient cars are packed with state-of-the-art features, such as regenerative braking, energy recovery systems, and intelligent driving modes. These innovations not only enhance fuel efficiency but also elevate the overall driving experience.
Higher Resale Value With sustainability becoming a top priority for buyers, fuel-efficient vehicles are highly sought after in the resale market. Their durability, lower running costs, and alignment with eco-friendly values make them a smart investment.
Tax Incentives and Perks Governments worldwide incentivize the purchase of fuel-efficient cars through tax credits, subsidies, and reduced registration fees—especially for hybrid and electric models. These financial benefits further sweeten the deal for prospective buyers.
Popular Types of Fuel-Efficient Cars
Hybrid Cars: These combine a traditional internal combustion engine with an electric motor, offering impressive fuel economy and lower emissions. Notable models include the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight.
Electric Vehicles (EVs): EVs like the Tesla Model 3 and Nissan Leaf rely entirely on rechargeable batteries, emitting zero greenhouse gases while boasting remarkable energy efficiency.
Diesel Cars: Known for their superior highway mileage, diesel vehicles like the Volkswagen Passat remain popular in certain markets despite tightening emissions regulations.
Advanced Gasoline Cars: Compact models such as the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla demonstrate how traditional gasoline-powered cars can achieve remarkable efficiency through innovations like turbocharging and direct fuel injection.
How to Choose the Right Fuel-Efficient Vehicle
Assess Your Driving Habits Your daily commute and lifestyle will dictate the type of fuel-efficient car that suits you best. Urban drivers may prefer compact hybrids, while long-distance travelers might benefit from diesel or extended-range hybrid options.
Check MPG Ratings High miles-per-gallon (MPG) ratings are a hallmark of efficiency. Tools like the EPA’s fuel economy guide can help you compare different models and make an informed decision.
Factor in Maintenance Costs Though fuel-efficient cars save on fuel, some—like hybrids and EVs—may come with unique maintenance needs. Research service costs to ensure the vehicle fits your budget long-term.
Think Beyond Today Investing in a fuel-efficient car isn’t just about immediate savings. Consider its lifespan, reliability, and resale value to ensure it remains a wise choice for years to come.
Fuel Efficiency Meets the Future The automotive industry is advancing rapidly, with innovations like solid-state batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, and improved aerodynamics setting new benchmarks for efficiency. Governments are also pushing for stricter emissions standards, driving the widespread adoption of hybrids and EVs.
By 2030, it’s estimated that fuel-efficient cars will dominate new vehicle sales, making now the perfect time to join the movement toward smarter, greener transportation.

Things in China got more interesting last week, as BYD finally launched sales of the highly anticipated small hatchback, the Seagull. BYD has launched the Seagull at lower prices than previously advertised during pre-sales, when the Seagull registered 10,000 orders in just 24 hours! The Seagull was officially launched at 73,800 yuan ($10,690). Just under $11,000 for a compact hatchback with a 30.8 kWh battery is really impressive. The Seagull is based on BYD’s e-platform 3.0 and falls under the Ocean series, which also includes the Dolphin and the Seal. The Seagull has a single electric motor with 75 hp (55 kW) and 135 Nm of torque. It is front-wheel drive. It also has a top speed of 130 km/h, and acceleration from 0–50 km/h takes 4.9 seconds. The two Blade battery options of 30.08 kWh and 38.88 kWh give ranges of 305 km and 405 km (CLTC) respectively. The Seagull has fast charging, which takes 30 minutes for 80% battery. I must say it looks really good at that price(..)

Week 3: Holy Car-noli
Howdy y'all, it's me Connor back after a week full of automotive adventures.
Tumblr media
(Picture of me, just chilling at the train station)
Classes continued on this week in their same rigor. Japanese is always a blast and although I am happy with the amount I have learned, especially in regards to everyday phrases. I am quite disappointed with the lack of Hiragana and Katakana we are learning. I would love to be able to read Japanese , so to supplement this I am doing some solo studying.
Engineering class is engineering class. The lectures are long and super technical but I would by lying if I said it wasn't interesting and I wasn't learning a ton. Homework are starting to pick up also so I have had a bit less time to just goof off but I am here for the classes at the end of the day.
Continuing on the automotive train, this week has been chock full of many automobile adventures:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first and arguably my favorite stop of the trip so far was Liberty Walk Garage. Liberty Walk is a custom build company founded in Nagoya and has built itself to be arguably the most famous and well renown custom built company in the world. They work with all sorts of different cars from 1980s-1990s JDM classics like the Nissan Silvia to modern day hyper cars like their numerous Lamborghini Huracán. I even got to see one of the cars that got my interested in custom builds in the first place. In the middle photo you can see a wide-bodied full carbo-fiber Nissan R35 GTR. I remember when I was younger watching Youtube videos of this exact car and being able to see every inch of it in person was fantastic. After spending a bit too much money in the giftshop my friends and I were actually offered a semi-private tour of their Miami Showroom, a garage with all of their most recent and most famous cars. We even got driven there in a luxury van for free. On the right you can see the driveway to the garage and another one of my all time favorite cars the Datsun Fairlady Z (I GOT TO SIT IN IT, IT WAS SO COOL).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the left is a photo of myself Infront of a Ferrari 458 and one of Liberty Walk's numerous Lamborghinis. On the right is within the Miami Showroom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two photos might be the biggest flex photos I have. I got to sit in THE Liberty Walk Ferrari F40. This is well over a million dollar car and you could even see the racing wear on the tires. It was one of the coolest experiences I have had and I could not stop smiling the entire time.
This is a video I took inside of the F40. It was certainly a squeeze (I almost didn't fit) but it is so cool. And yes there is a set of keys in the ignition, but I didn't get to start it :(
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also got to visit two different Toyota Museums. The photo on the left was taken in the Toyota Company Commemorative Museum, which surrounded the history of the company back when the made cotton looms. The photo on the right was taken at the Toyota Automotive Museum (As was the photo below) which simply showed off famous cars throughout history. The Commemorative Museum although not my favorite had a ton of interesting exhibits, specifically it had an EV swapped 2000GT which caused quite a stir in my tour group because why would you turn such a beautifully built car into an electric vehicle. If you are especially observant you might also notice that the two photos I chose for these museum are of the same car, and you would be right. That is because the Lexus LFA is the peak of the Toyota Company and there are almost no stock cars that exist better than it.
Tumblr media
This is a first run 1990 Honda NSX, another absolute beauty of a car.
Tumblr media
This is a photo in front of Paradise Road, a wonderful hidden gem of a garage. It is well know for its work on lowriders and had some legendary machinery. I mean in this photo alone you can see not only a pimped out Harley Soft tail but an original Chevrolet El Camino. We almost missed out on this stop but I'm so happy we went.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the left is a photo of Me, My friends, and the head of the garage and one of the coolest people I have ever met, Junichi. He has won countless competitions due to his masterful low rider builds (And yes that is his El Camino on the right, he is planning on building it out more). He was the founder of The Pharaohs, the oldest car club in Nagoya. We talked to him for hours and it was amazing.
Tumblr media
My last adventure of this week was something I was excited to do since day one. I got to practice with the Nagoya University Rugby Team. These guys were a ton of fun to play with. The practice was tough but fun, and I made two pretty close friends the three times I went. We even traded gear that I cannot wait to show off to my team back in Michigan. But that just about closes up my adventures for the week.
NOW IT IS TIME FOR WEEKLY FOOD REVIEWS:
I went to two very excellent spots this week:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was a small food cart called Curry Girl. Sadly I didn't take a picture of the food but it was amazing. Sweet and slightly spicy, the meat was tender and they offered huge portions. We walk by this cart every day to class so Ethan and I figured it was time for a stop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was the other big food stop I had this week and I wish I could tell you the name but I could not find it on google. This was a real hole-in-the-wall restaurant recommended by a Nagoya University student we made friends with. The seats and floor were dirty, the windows unwashed, but this was by far and away the best bowl of ramen I have had in Japan.
I am really settling into the culture here and having the time of my life. I have experienced and seen things completely unique to Japan and made memories I will never forget.
Until next time, さようなら, また 来週

Is Hydrogen the Future or Electric?
Hydrogen Technology vs. Electric Technology
Hydrogen and electric technologies each have their own advantages and applications, thus it is likely that the future of transportation will combine both of them.
Here is a thorough comparison and explanation of electric and hydrogen technologies, complete with practical examples, applications, and advantages of each:
Hydrogen Technology:
Explanation: Utilizing hydrogen as a fuel source, usually in the form of combustion engines or fuel cells, is known as hydrogen technology. The only byproduct of hydrogen fuel cells' process of mixing hydrogen with atmospheric oxygen to produce energy is water. The car's motor is run by this electricity, which offers a hygienic and effective source of propulsion.
Real-world examples: Honda Clarity Fuel Cell, Toyota Mirai, and Hyundai Nexo.
Use cases: Applications requiring extended driving ranges and rapid refueling periods are ideally suited for hydrogen technology, which makes it perfect for several vehicle types such as heavy-duty buses, long-haul trucks, and other vehicles. It may also be useful in fields like mobile power solutions and distant locations where energy storage and off-grid power generation are essential.
Hydrogen Technology Benefits:
Zero Emissions: Vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells emit no emissions from the exhaust, improving air quality and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
Fast Refueling: Users will find hydrogen refueling convenient and familiar as it takes about the same amount of time as refilling a traditional gasoline vehicle.
Long Driving Range: The range anxiety associated with electric vehicles can be alleviated by hydrogen vehicles, which can reach lengthy driving ranges comparable to that of conventional gasoline vehicles.
Electric Technology:
Explanation: Rechargeable batteries power electric vehicles (EVs), storing energy needed to move the car forward. Wireless charging technology or electric charging stations can be used to recharge the batteries.
Real-world examples: Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Bolt EV, and Tesla Model S.
Use cases: Short- to medium-distance driving, personal automobiles, and urban commuting are good fits for electric technology. Passenger cars, motorbikes, and other smaller vehicles used for city logistics and services are adopting it at an increasing rate.
Electric Technology Benefits:
Zero Emissions: There is no greenhouse gas emissions from the tailpipe of an electric car, which significantly reduces air pollution.
Energy Efficiency: Compared to internal combustion engines, electric motors are more efficient and translate a larger proportion of stored energy into actual vehicle movement.
Renewable Energy Integration: When surplus electricity from renewable sources is used by electric vehicles and returned to the grid when required, they can function as energy storage devices, facilitating the integration of renewable energy sources.
Lower Operating Costs: Compared to conventional internal combustion engine vehicles, electric vehicles typically have lower energy costs and require less maintenance, which results in lower operating expenses.
While electric technology is appropriate for personal automobiles, urban commuting, and the integration of renewable energy sources, hydrogen technology is best suited for applications that demand extensive driving ranges and rapid refueling periods. The decision between hydrogen and electric power is influenced by market demand, infrastructural accessibility, and particular use cases. As the transportation industry develops, it is probable that a blend of electric and hydrogen technologies will be employed to meet a range of requirements and accomplish objectives related to sustainable mobility.
Hydrogen Potential - Revolutionizing Transportation:
Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles (FCVs):
Vehicles with hydrogen fuel cells provide an emission-free substitute for those with internal combustion engines. They fuel the car with hydrogen, which reacts chemically with oxygen to produce electricity, which powers the electric motor. Because water vapor is the only byproduct, FCVs are environmentally benign.
Compared to battery electric vehicles, fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) offer the advantage of longer driving ranges and quicker refueling periods. Because it solves the range anxiety and long charging times that are frequently connected to electric vehicles, hydrogen is now a practical choice for heavy-duty and long-distance driving.
It is anticipated that the cost of fuel cell systems and hydrogen infrastructure will fall as technology develops and economies of scale are reached, increasing consumer access to FCVs.
Sustainable Aviation:
Hydrogen is being investigated by the aviation industry as a sustainable aircraft fuel. The aviation industry can lessen its reliance on fossil fuels and carbon emissions by using hydrogen in fuel cells or combustion engines to power aircraft.
Because hydrogen combustion is quieter than that of conventional jet engines, hydrogen-powered aircraft have the potential to greatly reduce noise pollution. Communities residing close to airports may benefit from this, as it could lead to more ecologically friendly and silent aviation.
Shipping and Maritime Applications:
Hydrogen has the potential to decarbonize the maritime sector, which contributes significantly to emissions worldwide. In order to lower greenhouse gas emissions and marine pollution, conventional fossil fuel engines in ships can be replaced with hydrogen fuel cells or hydrogen-powered internal combustion engines.
Other port operations that employ hydrogen include the usage of forklifts, cargo handling machinery, and auxiliary power systems on ships. Ports may lower their carbon footprint and help to create cleaner, more sustainable port operations by switching to hydrogen-powered equipment.
Energy Storage and Grid Balancing:
Hydrogen has the potential to be extremely important for grid balancing and energy storage. Electrolysis can be used to create hydrogen from surplus electricity produced by renewable sources. Fuel cells can then be used to transform the hydrogen that has been stored back into electricity, facilitating the grid's integration of renewable energy sources and guaranteeing a steady and dependable supply of energy.
In times when the production of renewable energy is limited, hydrogen can serve as a buffer, assisting in mitigating the intermittent nature of renewable sources. This adaptability makes it possible for an energy system to be more efficient and balanced, which encourages the wider use of renewable energy sources and lessens dependency on fossil fuels.
All things considered, hydrogen has the potential to completely transform the transportation industry by offering zero-emission fuel alternatives for a variety of vehicles, including automobiles, airplanes, ships, and port operations. Hydrogen is positioned as a major actor in the future of sustainable transportation, helping to create cleaner air, lower carbon emissions, and a more sustainable energy system because to its benefits in terms of longer ranges, speedier refilling, and energy storage capacities.

A King’s Ransom, Part Thirteen
Word Count:  2711
TW:  Smut (oral, m!receiving).  18+ only.
AN:  Part of an unfinished series.  The series masterlist here.
Tumblr media
Over the next week, you put a lot of work into Nevada’s business.  Well, his businesses, plural, now.  You just shrugged and said that you had the spare time anyway, since your own work slowed down around the holidays, but Nevada wasn’t stupid.  You were running numbers and checking out properties for him, tired from your insomnia, but still working insane hours to pull together this new, mostly legitimate business model for him.
He didn’t even feel bothered about it anymore.  He didn’t even mind when Gabe or his other guys rolled their eyes or grumbled at the impending doom of operating within the bounds of the law.
And you were doing it all for him.  Other than sex, what had any other woman done for him?
You never asked for anything from him, so he knew he had to get you something nice for Christmas.  He struggled though.  He knew he couldn’t get you those expensive fucking shoes with the red soles that some of his exes loved.  He knew you didn’t care about clothes, and he knew you had a weird fucking affinity for your bland little Honda sedan.
He couldn’t go to the usual jeweler he went to for the gold earrings or diamond bracelets he’d gifted women in the past.  You wore simple stuff.  He spent an afternoon in an antique jewelry place, browsing the trays of old shit that all pretty much looked the same to him.  But he knew that out of all the stuff he could get you, something in an antique store was the best bet.  You would rather have something unique than something big and sparkly.
He finally settled on an opal ring.  It was a ring, and it might send the wrong message, but Nevada decided just to set you straight as soon as you opened it, in case you thought he was trying to commit or shit like that.  It was just a piece of jewelry.  But it suited you, he thought.  It was a simple setting with a thin silver ban, a pale blue stone that most people might look past.  Once you got closer, though, you saw how complex it was, the cold sort of fire that burned in it.
Not that Nevada was into poetic shit, but it fit you.
And not that Nevada was proposing because marriage was a fucking trap he’d avoid until the day he died, but the thought of you wearing it still gave him a weird feeling in his chest.
-----
Christmas Eve was, surprisingly, a solid night at the club.  The place was closed the next day (no point in being open), but the night before did a brisk business, especially as young people from out-of-town returned home, fell back into their high school cliques, and went out to relive their youth.
Nevada was sitting on his balcony, watching the reunions unfold below him.  He’d never admit it, but this time of year made him lonely.  Most of his family – what was left of it:  his mother and sister and nieces and nephews – were all in the Dominican Republic.  He didn’t really have friends.  He usually spent the holidays alone, unless he could coax a woman to relieve the loneliness for a few hours.
He felt the usual dark thoughts start to descend over him, but then he caught movement near the door.  It was you.
You shed your winter coat and hung it over your arm as you brushed some snow out of your hair.  You chatted for a moment with his guard by the bottom of the steps, and Nevada drank you in, letting the sight of you lift the darkness.  You were in a crisp blue Oxford tucked into a dark grey pencil skirt and dark stockings.  He’d never admit that either, but your business formal wear had grown on him.  Mainly because he enjoyed peeling it off of you.
His guard stepped aside, and you made your way up to him.  He started to stand up, but you waved him to stay seated.  You walked over and laid a soft kiss on his mouth, then leaned against him as he wrapped an arm around your waist.
“Congratulations,” you told him.  “You’re the new owner of a building on St. Nicholas Avenue.  Mixed use.  You put another ten thousand in upgrades, and you can open your salon.  And,” you continued with a gleam in your eye.  “You have six units above it.  Solid renters that have been there a long time.  Fixed revenue stream.”
He should have made a crack about your boring fucking accounting talk, but instead, he just tilted his head up to face you.  “Thank you,” he said.  You smiled down at him and kissed him again, this time a bit more lingering.  When you broke away, he added, “did you take your cut?”
You shook your head.  “You got the boyfriend discount.  It pays to date me.”
Nevada shifted his hand to pinch your ass, making you jerk away with a laugh.  “You need to get paid for the work you’re doing for me,” he chided you.
“You can pay me in other ways,” you replied.  You walked over to his office door.  “For example, you can buy me a drink and sign these papers for me, then you can tell me that I’m a brilliant businesswoman.”
Nevada got to his feet and followed you into his office, shutting the door behind him.  “Deal,” he replied.
-----
You were both settled on his couch, his signed paperwork safely in your bag.  You each had a tumbler that he refilled, from time to time, from a bottle of tequila.  You leaned back on the couch, your heels kicked off, and your stockinged feet stretched out in front of you.  Nevada sipped his drink and listened to you explain the work you’d done so far and what was left to do.  Just sitting and listening to you almost made him feel…content.  It was an unfamiliar feeling.
“What are you doing tomorrow?” he asked when there was a lull in your talking.  “You going anywhere?”
You shrugged.  “I usually lay low on Christmas.  What about you?”
Nevada wanted the content feeling to never end.  “Maybe you could stay with me tonight.”  He’d been sleeping, more often than not, at your place over the past week.  But your house seemed haunted by those fucking pictures, sitting like a curse in your home office on an innocuous looking external drive.  Nevada himself lost a few nights of sleep over them, and he was basically heartless.  He was working on a solution, though, but he pushed those thoughts away for the short-term.
And Nevada thought you slept better at his place, and he preferred having you in his bed anyway.  Your mattress was too hard.
He caught your smile over the rim of your glass.  “I’d have to stop home and pack an overnight bag,” you said before taking another sip.  “Toothbrush, pajamas….”
“I have a spare toothbrush,” Nevada said, impatient.  “And you don’t need clothes to sleep.”
“…and my birth control pills,” you continued as if he hadn’t said anything.  “Unless you’re suddenly willing to wear condoms or roll the dice on fatherhood.”
The thought of being a father made Nevada’s stomach turn.  He’d never have kids if he could help it; he’d never give himself the chance to turn into his father.  To hear his uncles and other men in the neighborhood talk, Marco Ramirez had been hilarious, the life of any party, willing to give anyone on the block the shirt off his back.  Marriage, and two kids (three, technically, if you counted the brother that came before Nevada, who died a crib-death) transformed him into a bitter man.  Always unhappy, always with a sharp word or a heavy swinging fist.
That wouldn’t be Nevada’s fate.
He didn’t tell you any of that, though.  Instead, he just grunted an affirmative and took a deep swallow of tequila.
“I’ll spend Christmas with you,” you said.  “Though I’m worried that Santa won’t know where to find me, if I’m not home.”  Nevada snorted at this, and you continued.  “We moved a lot when I was a kid, and I was always worried that some other kid would get my gifts.”
Nevada perked up – you rarely talked about your past, and you never talked about your childhood.  Your voice had a sleepy quality to it that he knew meant you were tipsy.  Relaxed.  Relaxed enough to gift him with this little memory that somehow made him feel sad.
“Santa will know where you are,” he said, and he reached out to squeeze your thigh.  “If not, I’ll put a hit out on him.”
That made you laugh, and he smiled to see it.  You almost never laughed anymore, so he counted it as a victory when you did it.
“I’m surprised you didn’t already have Santa killed,” you replied.  “I assume you got nothing but coal as a kid, being a permanent entry on the naughty list and all.”
He tightened his grip on your leg.  “There’s that fucking mouth again, being rude when I’m being nice to you.”
You laughed again and stood up before sitting back down on his lap.  Your legs were stretched out across the couch cushions, and you turned to wrap your arms around his neck.  “I think you like my mouth.”
“There’s parts I like better,” he retorted.
You made an injured noise and pulled one of your arms away from him and let it drift down your front.  Nevada watched your hand as it undid first one, then a second button on your shirt.  It wasn’t enough to reveal your bra, but from Nevada’s vantage point, he could look down at the revealed flesh, the soft swells.
“I like these better,” he said, and he pressed his face against your exposed skin.  He kissed a trail of light kisses along each curved rise, trailing his tongue along your impossibly soft skin.  He could taste the salt of your sweat, and in the valley of your cleavage, a bitter spot from the alcohol of your perfume.  Nevada loved that smoky-sweet scent and the way it reacted with your body chemistry.  Your breathing was getting heavier, so he bit down against your flesh.  Not hard enough to break the skin or even hurt you – just enough for you to feel his teeth pressed against you.  You gave a little whimper, and Nevada felt his cock strain against his jeans.  You shifted a bit in his lap and obviously felt it too.
“You want one of your Christmas gifts early?” you whispered in his ear.
Nevada pulled his head away from you and nodded, then surged up to kiss you, but you pulled away from him with a sly look on your face.  He tried again to kiss you and you again evaded him.  When he growled in frustration, you smiled broadly and slipped off of his lap.  You stood over him, so close that he couldn’t heave himself off the couch to stand up with you.
You laid your hands on either of his shoulder and then ducked down enough to whisper in his ear again, the words a shot to his cock.
“How about I show you what my mouth can do, your highness?  Since you’re being so nice, and I’ve been rude?”
Before he could protest, you knelt gracefully on the floor in front of him and pried his knees apart with your hands on his legs.  You ran your palms over his thighs before your hands drifted up to unbutton and unzip his pants.  He leaned back and watched you, and his breath hitched in his throat when he felt your slim hand reach under his layers of clothing to grasp his erection and release it.  You shot him an inscrutable look from under your eyelashes and licked your lips, then bent your head to him.  With a groan, he threw his head back against the back of the couch and shut his eyes.
You teased him first, of fucking course, but he couldn’t be mad because his head was reeling at the realization that you were kneeling in front of him, in his office, putting your smart fucking mouth to a separate purpose.  And while he really didn’t mind your smart-ass teasing, he thought he might like this better.
First it was just your tongue, dancing around the sensitive tip of his cock, just enough to make him groan again above you.  After you fucking tortured him like that for what seemed like an eternity, you finally enveloped him with your wet mouth, bobbing your head and taking a bit more of him in each time until he was nearly buried completely in you.
“Ah, fuck,” he groaned, and he reached out to tangle his hand in your hair.  He opened his eyes and brushed your hair away from your face so that he could see you, your own eyes shut as you alternated between running your tongue over him from root to tip and just bobbing your head against him.  At one point, though, you opened your eyes and looked right at him, and Nevada could swear he felt your lips smirk against his cock at whatever you saw written across his face.
You had one hand on his thigh, gripping the tense muscle under his jeans, and he laid his other hand over it, threading his fingers through yours.  You weren’t rushing it at all, taking your time to deal him languid strokes with the flat of your tongue and then humming as you drew him into your mouth again.  Nevada had never received an unhurried blow job.  Everyone else had aggressively sucked him off, just getting it over with.  You were downright leisurely.  There was no way you were enjoying yourself though.
“You don’t have to do this,” he said, his voice hoarse.  “You can stop.”
And you pulled away with an obscene pop to look up at him again.  “Are you not enjoying it?”  You looked confused, and maybe a little hurt.
He pulled his hand out of your hair to stroke your cheek.  “It’s great, but you don’t have to - ”
“Just relax then, Ramirez,” you chided him with a smile.  “This is one of your Christmas gifts.  No returns or exchanges.”  He let out a breathless huff of laughter, but it was cut short as you slid his cock back into your mouth, now with more purpose.
So he did relax.  He pushed the memories of bad blow jobs past and focused on how your mouth felt and the little mewls of seeming pleasure you made.  He felt his orgasm approaching, the pleasure drowning out everything else.  His hips bucked up involuntarily, making you gag for a second, until you laid a forearm over him to pin him down.
“Princesa,” he warned you, but you just hummed against him to signal that you understood him.  Nevada tried to buck against you once, and you held him firmly, and a half-strangled sob tore from his throat as he came, hard.  You took all of it, swallowed all of him and coaxed him through his orgasm until he was done.
When he was calmed down, you stood up and sat back on his lap, tilting his head and kissing him so that he could taste both the tequila and himself on you.  “Merry Christmas,” you murmured against his lips, and he laughed weakly, still recovering.
“I should have made you my girlfriend a lot sooner,” he said.  “If that’s what I’ve been missing out on.”
You laid your head on his shoulder as he wrapped his arms around you.  “Take me home so that I can pack a bag, then take me back to your place,” you said.  “I’ll show you a few other things you’ve been missing out on.”
He didn’t exactly shove you off of his lap to stand up and get his jacket, but you stumbled all the same with a laugh.  When he made a tortured, impatient groan as you put your heels back on (slowly), and pulled your own coat back on (even slower), you couldn’t help but smile even more.

Midnight Romeo Ch. 1
Series: The Owl House Pairing: Beta!Luz/Beta!Amity
Luz Noceda finds herself frequenting night clubs to cope with her loneliness. She never expects to find anyone, really, until she’s forced to save a pretty girl from a nasty creep harassing her. Please support the original on Ao3! (trigger warnings for alcohol consumption and minor sexual harassment)
12:35am. The flashing lights and blaring dubstep over massive stereo systems was enough to overwhelm anyone, especially Luz Noceda. She wasn’t really even sure why she kept coming here. For drinks? People-watching? Moping, hoping for a stranger to reach out a hand to her and make a connection? Probably all of the above. Yet, despite how agonizingly crowded the place was and how much it reeked of Mary Jane and sweat, she sat alone at the bar, sipping on her second glass of whiskey and watching wasted hornballs grind on each other.     Luz was a pretty lonely person. She didn’t really have friends to spend time with, her mom worked hectic nights at the hospital to the point where they barely saw each other, and she had nothing but shitty breakups with shitty partners who left her feeling more and more closed up. Nobody could envy her right now. Any last shreds of hope that some gorgeous, charming person would approach her and suavely sweep her off her feet, were stomped on by her own cynicism. After all, who would want her ? Slumped over the bar in an unwashed army jacket, uncombed hair and beanie, probably reeking of booze. Hah, yeah. A real catch, huh.     Her self-deprecating thoughts were interrupted, however, when a shorter, punky looking girl ran up to her and wrapped arms around her. “Oh my god, hiii! I haven’t seen you in so long , babe!” came a peppy, raspy voice from the girl. Luz froze, completely shocked and incredibly confused at just what was happening right now. As well as a little bit flustered, because this girl was very pretty. Before she had a chance to speak, however, the mysterious girl whispered in her ear “ Just go with it, creepy guy behind me ”. Ah.     Luz’s demeanor changed in a heartbeat, cracking a smile and hugging the girl back. “Hey! What are you doing here? It’s been ages!” Pulling away from the hug, she looked passed the girl’s green-dyed hair to see a seething man walking directly towards them. “Hey Amity, who’s this girl? Some friend of yours?” He asked through a fake, gritted smile. Oh, Luz could feel the rotten vibes emanating from him. “Yeah, the name’s Luz. Amity here is one of my friends from college. May I ask who you are?”
The strange man crossed his arms, a smug grin crossing his face. “Yeah, I’m her man of the night. And we’ll be going now, actually.” Venom dripped from each of his words as he tried to grab at Amity’s wrist. The shorter girl struggled and mumbled “Let go” as she tried to pull away, and a new flame entered Luz’s gaze. She stood up and towered half a head over the man, staring at him with an intense anger, reaching into her jacket pocket for her switchblade.     “I don’t think she wants to go with you. Now let her go, or I’ll slice that hand clean off your wrist.” Luz scowled, flipping the blade open. The man visibly flinched, but stood his ground for a few moments more before finally letting go. “Whatever, fucking cunt. She’s an ugly bitch anyway.” He mumbled as he walked back into the crowd. Luz closed her switchblade and looked back down at the green haired girl, who was now rubbing the spot where her wrist had been so roughly grabbed.     Amity looked up at the taller girl in appreciation. “Thanks, uh.. You said your name was Luz? Thank you. I swear to god, men don’t know how to take fucking ‘no’ for an answer.” Luz sighed, and patted her shoulder. “Yeah, guys can be real creeps sometimes, especially at places like this. I’m just glad he didn’t do worse to you. Are you okay?” Amity grumbled, and hopped up on a bar chair next to the taller girl. “Well, not really. My friends bailed on me and I’ve been trying to ward off these dipshit guys all night. I don’t see how anyone enjoys these places.”     Luz stifled a chuckle. “Yeah, I hear ya. But if you hate it so much, why are you here?” Amity let out a heavy sigh. “I came because my friends asked me to. This isn’t usually my deal, but they were insistent. Then they had the gall to fucking leave me here alone. Assholes.” She mumbled, laying her head on the counter. “They don’t really sound like friends if they’re just gonna leave you here.” Luz offered. Amity noticeably shrank when she said that. “Yeah, well, they’re kinda my only option as far as friends go… And they were my ride here too, hah .” She laughed bitterly.     The two of them were silent for a few moments, only being enveloped in the sound of the music over loudspeakers. At one point, the bartender asked if Amity wanted a drink. She lifted her head and ordered a long island iced tea, much to Luz’s surprise. When asked if she wanted a refill on her whiskey, Luz declined, and turned back to Amity. “So, you don’t have a ride home then?” Amity shook her head. “It’s probably fine. I’ll just grab an Uber, or beg one of my siblings to pick me up, haha.” Her laugh was tired, and her eyes looked tired as well.
While Amity silently drank, Luz watched her - taking in her appearance. Her eyes were sharp and golden, with thick, black, winged eyeliner and smokey eyeshadow. Her nose was long and pierced through the septum. Her lips were thin, covered in black lipstick and adorned with black metal snake bites. Her hair was messy, tousled and long, reaching halfway down her back. Her ears were covered in black piercings, and she wore a fitted band tee and a pink plaid miniskirt. Truly, this girl was stunning. Luz couldn’t help but wonder if this was the princess charming she had so long been wishing for-     ‘Ugh, don’t be stupid’ She thought to herself, and quickly stamped out the idea. Her main concern should be how to get this girl home, anyways. Her friends left her, she’s apparently been dealing with sexual harassment all night, and she’s probably going to be wasted on long island teas before she leaves. “So… Are you gonna text your sibs for a ride?” Amity finished the remains of her glass before slamming it back down on the table. “Yeah I guess I should, probably. They’ll probably make fun of me for getting so wasted, but it’s fine, whatever.” She took out her phone and started quickly typing a message with her thumbs, before setting it down on the bar. She called the bartender back over to order another tea, then slumped back on the counter. “Uh, you sure another one is a good idea chica ? Especially after the night you’ve had?”     The green-haired girl rolled her head to look at Luz, with a dead stare. “While I appreciate your concern, I kinda don’t care right now.” Her phone buzzed and she picked it up to look at the new text, before slapping it back down with a loud groan. “UGH, of COURSE they’re too busy to pick me up. Fuckin great.” Luz bit her lip, wondering what the next step should be. I mean, she barely met this girl, But after the night she’d had, she didn’t want to risk this Amity girl having another run off with a creepy guy. And she knew from experience that Ubers and Lyfts weren’t always the safest to ride in as a drunk girl.     “Hey… Uh, do you need me to give you a ride home then? I really don’t mind.” She waited in silence for a moment, while Amity turned to look at her. “I’m fine, I’ll be fine. Just need to order an Uber, it’s fine..” She trailed off, pulling up the app on her phone. “Listen, I really don’t mind driving you. I’ve had some… not so fun experiences riding drunk in an Uber. They don’t do background checks on those guys, and especially since you’ve been through so much from creeps tonight...” Luz trailed off. Amity let out a huge sigh. “...Okay, fine. But you better not try anything weird either. I can and will fuck you up, or break your car window open.” Luz internally breathed a sigh of relief. She definitely understood not trusting a stranger to drive her home, but she didn’t want this girl to go through worse than she had already experienced tonight.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     1:21am. They walked out of the bar, Luz had mostly sobered up, and supported the shorter girl so she didn’t stumble or trip on the way to her car. Luz’s car wasn’t anything special - it was an old 2002 Honda Accord, silver and a little beat up, but she was sure to keep it clean and in functioning shape. She opened the passenger door for amity with a polite gesture, and made sure she was all the way in before shutting the door and returning to the driver’s side.
“Wow, your car is old.” Amity said bluntly. Luz laughed. “Yeah? Your point? I still keep her running like a dream. Why? Are you not used to old bangups?” Amity crossed her arms, embarrassed. “Well, my parents are all about having the newest thing. They all got brand new shit at home, fancy imported cars and that shit. They got me a brand new Maserati for my birthday this year. So yeah, I’m not used to ‘old bangups’ I guess.” She looked out the window while Luz started up the engine, and popped in a CD. The music started playing on low, Amity tuning in to the song that was playing.
‘You’re the beach on Christmas Eve,’
      ‘Wrong place, good time, consistently’
‘I feel like a walking love song’
‘When you do me like that, can you tell my brain turns off’ It seemed to fit the atmosphere pretty well, actually. Luz rolled down the window and let her arm hang out, bringing a much-needed cool breeze into the car. Amity could feel herself nodding off, despite trying to fight it. ‘This girl, Luz… can I really trust her? I mean, she seems really cool, and it’s nice of her to drive me home, but… ‘ Amity’s thoughts ran slowly through her head. She raised her head to look over at the girl in the driver’s seat. She really did have a cool aura about her. The army jacket and baggy cargo pants, while normally not Amity’s style, seemed to fit the girl. Her messy hair, red beanie, adorned with a pin Amity couldn’t see in the dark. She noticed Luz was singing along to the song under her breath. It was kind of cute, actually.     ‘From 7-11s to California Heavens’
‘I try to hide with my words, but you just find me clever’
‘I found a million places, you’d be worth the chases’
        ‘To go-oh-oh’
Finally, they pull into a long driveway, protected by overbearing steel gates. Luz stopped the car, and looked up at the massive home behind them. “You live here , Amity? Damn, are you just rich as shit or something?” Amity sighed, clicked off her seatbelt and opened the door. “My family is rich as shit, yes. I try not to think about it.” Luz unblocked her seatbelt and rose to get out of the car, making sure Amity could get in alright. “Oh, wait! Here, hang on a second.” She said, running back to her car to grab something.
Amity stood before the gates for only a few seconds, before Luz came back with a scrap of paper. “Listen, not that you’ll need it, but…” She looked embarrassed, rubbing the nape of her neck anxiously. “If your friends ever bail on you again or you need to get rid of any more creeps, here’s my number.” Luz handed the scrap to Amity, before shoving both hands in her jacket pockets. Amity looked down at the paper, then back up to Luz, with a smile. “Heh, thanks Luz… Maybe I’ll take you up on that. Amity brushed a piece of hair behind her ear, and turned toward the gates to her house. “Oh, and… Thank you for all your help tonight. Usually people aren’t so kind.” Those words were her last before opening the gates and walking inside.
Luz slumped back into her car, waiting until the girl was fully inside her house before buckling up and starting up the engine. ‘Well, that’s certainly not how I thought my night would go.’ She felt a buzz in her pocket, and pulled out her phone to find a new message from an unknown number. xxx-xxx-xxxx: Hey, this is Amity. Thanks again for tonight.     Luz smiled, and quickly registered the girl in her contacts. As she backed out of the manor driveway, she felt a lightness in her chest that she hadn’t felt in a long time. Maybe going out to clubs wasn't all that bad.

F1 2020 Grid as German rap songs
Since the 2020 season has come to an end, I thought it might be a good idea to finally share this thing that I’ve been working on since June. I have no idea as to why or how I had this idea, but I’m sure I’m not the first one to do this, anyway. I’m sorry to all my fellow Germans in advance <3
Disclaimer: I translated all of the lyrics myself so some things might not be completely accurate, for which I can only apologize. I do not agree with the way some rappers portray women, so I made sure to steer clear from those lyrics.
(post under the cut because it got kinda very long whoops)
Lewis - Vintage (RIN)
Oh Lord, wo soll das Ganze enden? Fahr' so schnell, ich wechsel' jede Woche Bremsen
[Oh Lord, where is this supposed to end? Driving so fast, I’m changing brakes every week]
It’s a song about being a champion, living a luxury life, nice clothes, and well...driving fast cars. Any more questions? Rin is one of my favorite German rap artists, so I just had to include his songs, and this one makes you feel like a real badass, just like our king Lewis 😌
Valtteri - In meinem Benz (AK Ausserkontrolle, Bonez MC)
Du siehst mich im Benz sitzen, so wie Lewis Hamilton
[You see me sitting in a Benz, just like Lewis Hamilton]
It’s kind of obvious why I chose that song, right? Other than that specific line there are some more parts about how much the rapper apparently loves his Mercedes and this song just screamed Valtteri to me.
Charles - NENENE (Fero47)
Sitze bald in roten Ferrari Geben Gas in der Hood Ruf' ich danach, "C'est la vie!"
[I’ll soon sit in a red Ferrari Rev up in my hood Shouting “C’est la vie!” afterward]
Ignoring the entire part about Monte Carlo and all the French words, this specific part just always reminds me of Charles when I listen to the song. More badass vibes but less seriously so because I can’t take Fero’s voice that serious at all, which fits Charles.
Sebastian - Ferrari (Eno, MERO)
Roter Ferrari Ich gebe Gas in einem Ferrari Roter Ferrari Yeah, ich sitze tief in einem Ferrari
[Red Ferrari I rev up in a red Ferrari Red Ferrari Yeah, I’m sitting deep inside a Ferrari]
There’s a part about “rolling with [a] bro in a white Mercedes” and my brain said Sewis rights. Other than that, this is once again a rather obvious choice, if not all that up to date anymore. Some lines about racing on the German highway, so of course I had to go for Sebastian with this one.
Max - Fame (Apache207)
Die Rapszene ist nur ein Affenzirkus In dem kleine Kinder gern mit Waffen hantieren Ich steh', wo ich steh', weil ich bin, wer ich bin Und nicht weil hier irgendjemand Apache platziert
[The rap scene is a madhouse Where little kids like to make use of guns I stand where I stand because I am who I am And not because someone places Apache]
This simply gives me Max vibes, I don’t have much more to say as an explanation. It just feels right, with criticism towards mentally “weaker” individuals and the confidence in making a name for oneself based on own achievements and hard work. Also, Apache has become a rather popular musician in the past year(s) (especially to obnoxious 5th graders, all tea no shade), which is just...Max, I won’t elaborate.
Alex - HONDA (Ansu)
Hold on, kommt was Schnell – Konter Dreamer, besonders – Willy Wonka Auto – Honda
[Hold on, there’s something coming Fast - Counterattack Dreamer, special - Willy Wonka Car - Honda]
I mean, it’s a song about a Honda driver? I struggled quite a bit with finding a song for Alex, but when I first listened to this song, my mind threw his name at me in blinking neon letters, so this is the vibe we’re going with - a funky fast Honda driver <3 (PS: I have no clue what the Willy Wonka thing is about but....why not)
Carlos - Habibi (Casar)
Sie schreibt: "Habibi", denn sie vermisst mich Ich fahre weit davon mit mein'n Hermanos
[She texts me “Habibi” because she misses me I drive far away with my hermanos]
I can only listen to the word “hermanos” so many times without my mind associating it with Carlos, so this one was a rather obvious choice for me as well. Also, there are some parts about Spain in this song so I had to be lame and do the obvious with this one.
Lando - 500 PS (Bonez MC, RAF Camora)
Ich drück' aufs Gas, hör' die 500 PS Fahren durch die Stadt, GTA Los Angeles
[I step on the gas, hear the 500 HP Cruising through the city, GTA Los Angeles]
This one’s a solid mainstream German rap song (not that I’d call Lando a mainstream person), liked to some extent by most people, and it gets you moving, which reminds me a lot of Lando. Cars and mentions of a video game make for a hit and Lando unites just that in person as well.
Daniel - Emotions 2.0 (Ufo361, Céline)
Baby, nimm einen Schluck Dom P. für die Emotions Ich erhöhe deine Dosis So viel Schmuck Mehr Drip als ein Ocean
[Baby take a sip Dom P for the emotions I’m increasing your dosage So much jewelry More drip than an ocean]
A bittersweet love song with rich boy summer vibes and one of my favorite German songs to be released this year, in fact, it’s my most listened to song on my phone, make for a combination that just screams Daniel to me. This song hits different when driving into the sunset in a fancy car or when biking through town at 1:30 am on three cans of Red Bull (believe me, I tried), and always reminds me of better times. It’s the ideal song to sing and rap along to, so that matches Daniel just fine.
Esteban - Einsneunzig (Brown-Eyes White Boy)
Bin fast einsneunzig, stell' mich auf die Bündel, das' ein Weltrekord Lass' die Zeit Revue passier'n, selbe Jungs und selber Ort
[I’m almost 1.90, stand on a wad of cash, that’s a world record Let’s recall the past, same guys and same place]
1.90 meters as a reference to Esteban’s height, obviously, simply made sense to me, once again. The second line reminds me of his feud with Pierre, so I had to choose this song. It’s better than Ratten im Hof (rats in the yard), and this reminds me of a wannabe gangster, which just screams Esteban to me, I’m sorry <3
Pierre - DAS RENNEN (RIN)
Ich hoff', eines Tages, wir gewinn'n das Rennen Wie bei Red Dead Redemption Irgendwann der Letzte wie Shanks Spinner Rims glänzen
[I hope one day we win the race Just like in Red Dead Redemption One day the last like Shanks Spinner rims are shining]
I know no one will believe this story but I started working on this post like half a year ago and I chose that song for Pierre back then and uhm, manifestation worked, I guess? Once again, I’m a big fan of Rin’s music, so choosing this song for Pierre is a bit like selfcare. The lyrics mention changing the world and well, so far Pierre has as least changed my world 😌
Daniil - One Night Stand (Capital Bra)
Ty moja ljubimaja Takaja diwnaja, krasiwaja-ja Sprawjedliwaja, njepobjedimaja Ty moja-ja, Baby, ty moja-ja
[You are my darling Such a wondeful, beauty Fair, invincible You’re mine baby, you’re mine]
I really hope I got that translation more or less right but other than that, I didn’t simply choose that song based on the Russian part. It’s a song we used to listen to a lot a few years ago and one of those from the days where Capital Bra was famous but less so than he is today. It reminds me of simpler times and it’s a pretty vibey song that, if you allow it to, draws you in and makes you dance. I have a soft spot for Daniil and the song reminds me a bit of him.
Lance - Bronx (Veysel)
Du musst doppelt zahlen, deshalb krieg' ich es umsonst Audemars, Yves Saint Laurent, eine Villa irgendwo Audemars, Yves Saint Laurent, ein paar Villen irgendwo
[You have to pay double that’s why I get it for free Audemars, Yves Saint Laurent, a mansion somewhere Audemars, Yves Saint Laurent, a few mansions somewhere]
This is a song that you have to listen to on high volume in a fast car, one that once again has really badass vibes. It’s nice to rap along to and hard not to move to. The rich boy vibes in the chorus that I’ve included in this post are pretty inevitable and logically, I had to associate that with Lance. When I turn this song on, everyone enjoys it, and I think Lance deserves to evoke that emotion in everyone as well.
Sergio - AVENTADOR (Dardan, Eno, Noah)
Roll' im Aventador Ich fahr' grad vor Gebe Gas, sag': "¡Adiós!"
[Roll in an Aventador I hit the road Step on the gas, say “¡Adiós!”]
I mean yeah, I could have chosen that song only because of the Adiós but that’s a bit lame even for me. Instead, the entire fast car vibe reminded me a lot of Checo. I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for him and this year he once again showed people ([coughs] my brother) that he’s been severely underestimated. So stepping on the gas and outpacing everyone else felt like the right vibe.
Kimi - Sorry Not Sorry (Monet192, Takt32, badmómzjay)
Was du für Karriere machst, mach' ich als Hobby Was du für Probleme hast, interessiert keinen
[What you made your career, I do as a hobby What problems you have, no one cares]
The title itself embodies Kimi and so does the entire song. The not giving a shit vibe, paired with the mention of the hobby thing as an indirect reference to the famous Kimi quote about seeing his job more as a hobby, are just 100% Kimi. I really couldn’t have found a better song for him.
Antonio - Maserati (RAF Camora)
Capo dei capi Trip noch im Alfa, doch bald Maserati
[Capo dei capi Trip still in an Alfa but soon in a Maserati]
I did very much not choose the song because “capo dei capi” (the boss of bosses) is a mafia related thing, but because of the Alfa part, duh. Roadtrips in an Alfa along the Adriatic coast are cool and all but a Maserati is obviously the main goal, and that reminds me of Antonio quite a lot ~for some reason~. The entire part about making it far in life without a “serious” job is just very F1, so the vibes are there. Happy very belated birthday Toni <3
Romain - HOCH (CRO)
Alles holt dich down, lass es einfach los Und die Dinge unter dir sind gar nicht mehr so groß Ich schau' nach oben und auf einmal geht's hoch
[Everything drags you down, just let it go And the things below you are not as big anymore I look up and suddenly it goes upwards]
This song is just very peaceful and calms my mind when I listen to it, which radiates the same comforting vibe as Romain. The topic of rising despite things dragging you down are a very prominent topic here and reminded me a lot of him, especially with him leaving Haas and everything around that. It just feels nice to listen to a bit of an uplifting song once in a while, and this one does it in a way that still allows you to feel calm and safe, which is something I associate with Romain a lot.
Kevin - Vorbei (Nico Rosseburg, Sierra Kidd)
Sag mir bitte, wie passe ich die Zeit? Der Augenblick war schön, doch es ist vorbei
[Please tell me, how do I pass the time? The moment was nice but now it’s over]
With Kevin leaving F1, I had to go for this song for him. It’s a bit more of a sad topic (so am I with the knowledge of him not being there next year) but without making the entire thing sound melancholic. I only really learned to appreciate Kevin this year and I’ll miss having him around, so this song kind of fits that idea for me.
George - 20 Zoll MAE (Celo&Abdi, Bonez MC)
Ich fahr' mit Schrittgeschwindigkeit, so wie ein Don Hättest gerne meine Felgen, aber wirst sie nicht bekommen
[I drive at walking pace like a Don You’d like to have my rims but won’t get them]
Making this solely about driving at walking pace would be a bit mean but there’s a part in the song soon after about looking beautiful in a Mercedes, so that’s pretty much George. The song just carries that fun vibe and the subtle (not really) flex, which makes it great to listen to if you want to get in a happier mood. It’s a song about Mercedes rims, of course I had to choose George 😔
Nicholas - Standard (KitschKrieg, SFR, Trettmann, Gzuz, Gringo, Ufo361)
Treff' mich in Miami, fliege nur noch First-Class Nur noch unterwegs, kriege Heimweh
[Meet me in Miami, only flying first class anymore Only on the road anymore, getting homesick]
More ~rich boy vibes~ and a song that has been playing what feels like 24/7 on MTV Germany the last two years. It got so bad that some people around me still reply in the trademark Gzuz voice when someone uses the word “standard”. Anyway, I associate this song with Nicholas because just like KitschKrieg did with their first “own” song, Nicholas has joined the game and left an impression on everyone, in one way or another, and I’m willing to see/hear more of that :)
