Okay, I caught up on the actual fandom history for Homicipher and how the dev previously quit but then suddenly released the update a few days ago, etc.

I’m not going to comment on the dev’s mental health or old tweets because mental health is personal and there’s a language barrier, so I’m not going to make any kind of assumptions.

Seems to me like the primary issue was new and young fans pirating the game and being extremely demanding about updates. It overwhelmed the creator, who is the lone developer of this 2 yr project.

That’s all awful and I hope that they’ve gotten rest and relaxation away from social media and that the recent updates are a good sign.

I also think I am going to post all of my theories, even if they might seem controversial, because it doesn’t seem like character interpretations or lore were big hot-button fandom topics (apart from some fans claiming they knew the lore better than the creator?)

Also, the creator initially voiced that all fan creations were welcome, so I don’t feel like I’m disrespecting wishes by posting my own interpretations (which could be totally wrong!) of the characters.

Also I’m kind of sick and tired of walking on eggshells in every fandom space not sure if I can have fun or share my thoughts and ideas freely, so. Fuck it, we ball ig

Wow, you read to the bottom, thanks. I've struggled with S/H for something close to a decade now, and with depression and anxiety much longer than that. My E/D struggles are recent and I'm only coming up on a year of having it. I'm chronically ill and have been my whole life. I find it hard to interact and connect with people. Imma be straight with y'all, I started following her when Homicipher released, like a lot of people did, and a lot of the announcements she made on Twitter complaining about how the fans were talking to her was in response to... normal fan discourse in her Twitter comments. The ones that really made me go "oh, girl, no" was something like "Japanese fans don't talk about unrelated shit in my comments, it's always the foreigners" (I'm paraphrasing ofc, it's all gone now). I'm sure she did get harassed and hate comments because people are terrible, however she REALLY did not want to interact with her (global) fans in general. Which, y'know, is also fine. Just. Yikes. What a shitshow.
