Journaling is amazing and life altering!

I created this journal, especially for you. For the days, you need to remind yourself about why you shouldn’t give up on your dreams and goals, despite the obstacles. Sometimes, we may feel like giving up. We need the motivation to keep moving forward because life does change. So, why don't you motivate yourself by keeping a journal! You can write down new ideas, doodles, quotes, sayings, notes to self, make collages, or journal your daily life experiences. You can decorate your journal with your favorite things, like rhinestones, drawings, or inspiring pictures from magazines. Journaling is an excellent and therapeutic way of recording your emotional highs and lows. You will feel better about yourself and your journey of never giving up. The creative journals includes the poem, Never Give Up!, at the beginning of the journal.

Celebrating Our Stripes: Homecoming 2017

Homecoming week was full of excitement, energy, and just plain fun—Buffalo State style. There were so many activities as current and former students, family members, faculty, staff, and friends of the college flocked onto campus to enjoy and celebrate Buffalo State events, traditions, and fond memories.

The week was filled with performances, films, special programs, a Homecoming parade, and athletic competitions on Saturday when our football team, men’s soccer team (ranked 13th in the country), and men’s ice hockey team all showed off the skills, talents, and balance of our Division III athletics program. And there was much more.

Among our alumni back on campus was Krista (Wierzbicki) Todd, graduate from 2004, who is currently the vice president for global communications at Logitech in California. She was on campus to receive the 2017 Young Alumnus Achievement Award. She shared her journey to success with the Buffalo State community and showed her stripes and how she had reached for and grasped stars.

The pep rally was spectacular, with a huge crowd of cheering Bengals, as we celebrated the Homecoming activities and toasted our teams as they prepared to compete on Saturday. Although we were not victorious in football or soccer, men’s hockey achieved a nice win. This pep rally was joined by two drones that circled above our heads and took footage of the excitement of the rally; this was a sensational new addition to the lively pep rally.

I’m not sure which moment was most exciting for me: riding in a red Corvette during the parade, joining our great seniors from our athletic teams at the pep rally, watching the Bengals compete on Saturday, or watching Benji dance throughout the week. But we certainly had events for all, from bonfires to a Stomp, Step, and Stroll competition.

Four Ways to Enjoy Homecoming from Afar

This weekend, thousands of students, alumni, staff, faculty, family and friends will gather at Saint Louis University’s campus for Homecoming Weekend 2019. The homecoming festivities will begin on Friday, September 27 and will go until Sunday, September 29.

As excited as we are to host such a great weekend, we also want all of our out-of-state students and alumni to feel just as much a part of this weekend’s festivities. We’ve come up with a list of ways to enjoy homecoming from afar:

1) Make sure to check our Facebook and Twitter pages all weekend for photos and updates of what’s going on. Don’t forget to check out SLU’s official Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for photos and updates as well.

2) Visit the Billiken Athletics website for stats and scores of the volleyball and soccer games, as well as links to the live-streams. Friday, September 27 5:00 PM - Women’s Volleyball vs. Dayton 7:30 PM - Billiken Madness Saturday, September 28 7:30 PM - Men’s Soccer vs. Rhode Island Sunday, September 29 1:00 PM - Women’s Soccer vs. Dayton

3) Share your photos with us in your SLU gear for a chance to be re-posted on our social media. Make sure to tag us and to use the hashtag #SLUOnline.

4) Participate in our #SLUOnline Homecoming giveaway. We will be giving away SLU’s official 2019 Homecoming and Family Weekend t-shirt to one lucky winner. All you have to do is follow the rules of this particular Twitter and/or Facebook post to enter. Winner will be announced on Monday, September 30th.
