Just started yet another reread of Inimitable Verse by deniigiq and I fully plan on rereading their into the multiverse series which occasionally crosses over also - this is a Spider-Man/team red focused series, think comics canon infused early mcu-spidey since only homecoming had come out for a non substantial amount of time they were working on the series and the daredevil stuff is explicitly tv show AND comics. Also the multiverse series is how I got into Murderdock and therefore how I got into Spider Gwen

Unpretty's Sorrowful And Immaculate Hearts series which is just a loosely interconnected series of DC fics. My personal favorites are Empty Graves, in which Martha Kent keeps killing time travelers trying to kill baby! Clark; any of their clois fics but especially Third Wheel; and Anti-Social, which is a social media fic mostly about Tim and Bruce that made me cry laughing. Catch Bruce trying to get Walmart's employees to unionize. Also shout out to unpretty's only fic with Jason in it, it looks awesome but is tragically incomplete

This particular Reverse Robin AU which put in the work to reverse every single younger generation and is chef's kiss I LOVE this version of Tim he's wild

Both of Shoalsea's fics are in constant rotation for me I talk about Into The Brighter Night all the time in the tags of reblogs and stuff it truly lives in my head rent free. Anyway Tim gets kidnapped by aliens and the batfam have to watch as yj98 saves him and it's angsty and funny and such a good take on what could have been if the new 52 hadn't happened. And Compassion Builds No House is about Tim and Pru from Red Robin. Ugh they're both so good

Speaking of Clois (I did you've just forgotten this by now) brilliant (like a confession) by kathkin (penny-anna on the hellsite) is so fucking good I'm. Okay. Anyway it'll be listed as inspiration if/when I finally post my two person love triangle fic for them

Last Requests (M*A*S*H; BJ/Hawkeye) a tag to 'novocaine mutiny' that i had the idea for in 2018, but wasn't able to write until 2022. i love this story sm. 💜

happily ever after... and after (M*A*S*H; BJ/Peg/Hawkeye) this story... has one of the strongest themes/throughlines of any I've ever written, and it was METICULOUSLY researched, and I still get starry-eyed thinking about it. essentially the theme is 'what happens after the heroes ride into the sunset?' (Very technically a sequel to 'ye who are weary,' but it remains my favourite in-verse story)

In the Still of the Night (M*A*S*H; BJ/Hawkeye) I have a soft spot for this one because it was the very first hunnihawk fic I ever wrote. January of 2018, baybeee. I have no idea if it holds up, but I agonized over this one...

This might be one of those "putting too much thought into some basic blue curtains" situations, but I've been thinking about it a lot. Enjoy the following sleep-deprived ramble (and continuing ramble in the tags)

I feel like the line "and if I finally break the rules, I will know of my world, I'm the ruler" means so much. We only ever hear it twice ("cool as I think I am," and "dirty dudes must die"), even though the first part ("If I can finally be cool I will know that I'm not a loser") is played numerous times, and has a LOT of importance placed on it. Dirty Dudes is obvious by explaining how Grace is falling to what she would consider satanism in the name of God, but I personally see the first usage as kind of meta. Peter is singing the song about him and Stephanie, right? Well, in the other two Hatchetfield musicals, there are both couples that slowly fall in love over the course of the runtime. And you know what? They all die at the end. Hatchetfield dies at the end. It's because the Lords didn't know the main characters personally, or else weren't asked, and they were on the bad guy's side.

The Lords in Black are very much the bad guys. They feed from people's wants and their desperation to reach fulfillment (filling the holes), and actively cause destruction to cause more want and desperation. So "breaking the rules" by making them join the good guys side, just for once, causes the nerds to be known and protected so long as they pay the price. And they do. And that's why Nerdy Prudes has a good-ish ending. The second final song "The Best of You," as weird as it is, is entirely focused on Pete and Steph, who broke the rules by not dying, and became the "Rulers," homecoming king and queen, as a result (I know it wasn't explicitly stated they were king and queen but it wasn't a plot point at all so let me pretend lol).

So basically if Grace Chastity weren't there, they would have failed and Hatchetfield would have died again.

EDIT while listening to the music again I found another half-sung form of the lyric in "cool as I think I am (reprise)" that mashes the two verses together ("If I can finally break the rules, I will know that you have to do it"). This still goes with my thought process though since it's literally during the point where the normal rules of the couple dying are broken. They are literally breaking the rule where they had to sacrifice themselves. Thanks Max thanks Grace you saved the world from a disaster you caused <3

So what is the deal with Miles? Does he exist in the real Marvel universe comics, as Aaron's appearance in Homecoming implied, or is he in a separate universe from real Peter Parker, which Donald Glover's cameo in Across_ suggests? Like Spider-man and Ultimate Spider-man, that D'angelo never lived to find out, and I know because I looked it up after watching that episode?

Ok, fair warning, I'm about to spam the tags a little bit, because I got a flood of anon messages about Miles Morales and they're a bit all over the place (this one is perfectly reasonable) and got my back up in places so I'm not in a mood to just delete/block and move on.

If you're asking about comics Miles Morales, his original universe was Earth 1610, which is Marvel's designation for the Ultimate Universe that was launched in 2000 and then was destroyed in 2015 as part of Hickman's Secret Wars event. (However, because comics Miles was pretty popular and Brian Michael Bendis was a bit of a superstar, comics Miles managed to survive the destruction of the multiverse and transitioned to Earth 616, which is the "prime" Marvel universe, the one that's been running since 1961.) So as far as comics Miles was concerned, he very much was existing in the "real Marvel universe comics."

Now, there are some significant differences between the comics version of 1610 and the movie version of 1610 - most significantly. comica Peter Parker was a teenager rather than a grown adult when he died passing on the mantle to Miles - but it's close enough and clearly intended to represent the 1610, so it's not worth getting persnickety about. If you really need clarity, the movie version is (sometimes) described as 1610b on the wikis. So technically movie Miles Morales is from Earth 1610b, which I kind of like because there's a nice parallel with Peter B. Parker coming from Earth 616b. (I'm going to avoid spoiling the reveal about Earth 42.)

Now, to answer "or is he in a separate universe from real Peter Parker" is a bit trickier, because it depends on whether you consider the MCU's Tom Holland to be the "real" Peter Parker, and then you have to answer the question what "real" means in the context of the multiverse. To paraphrase from the Mah Nishtanah, "how is this Peter Parker different from all other Peter Parkers?"

In so far as the Spider-Verse movies are concerned, MCU Peter Parker is from Earth-199999, regardless of what Stephen Strange may say about it.

SHINee - Feel Good & Wonder Girls - I Feel You — I was toying with the idea of doing a writeup of every SHINee album to celebrate their anniversary this week, but having accepted that I have neither the time or energy to actually do that, I've instead been walking around listening to 1 of 1 and fantasizing about what I would write if only I did have the time. I want to live inside the verses and pre-chorus of "Feel Good" forever: the swell of the filtered synths and twinkling keyboard, followed by that moment where the drum machine and handclaps kick in and all of their voices come together is like the aural equivalent of watching a sun rise. I want to cry when I listen to it, it's so beautiful. There's a hazy quality to the synth breakdown here, with its scratchy wub-dubs and half-muffled shouts, that almost puts me in mind of the The Avalanches' electronic bricolage—fittingly, since this is also a track that rearranges old sounds into something new. Wonder Girls' Reboot does the same thing of course, though Reboot's reworking of '80s synth-pop feels more straightforward to me than the interpolation of UK garage into "Feel Good," if also no less brilliant and satisfying.

It's strange to think that Timbaland was once such an ubiquitous chart presence that a song as idiosyncratic as "Promiscuous" once formed 10-year-old me's default idea of what good pop music sounded like. Now I listen to it and I'm like wait, this is not only good but also weird, and it's not even close to his weirdest (or even Danja's weirdest).

(G)-IDLE - Queencard — Only checked this out after hating every previous (G)-IDLE song because I thought it would make me laugh. Played myself big time. It did make me laugh, but it also made me want to twerk on the runway.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

I've currently got 25 works on there.

2. What’s your total word count?

161, 391! which...wow, that number hits me every time I look at it. I can’t believe I’ve written a whole novel’s length of fanfic this year.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Mostly Hatchetfield and Deltarune, but especially Hatchetfield. The silly little horror-comedy musicals (especially the LiB and Paul) have grabbed me and won’t let go. To the detriment of my WIPs in other fandoms. Oh, and I’ve also written a decent amount of fic for Spiderverse and Dracula! (Our good friend Jonathan Harker, after all.)

4. Top 5 fics by kudos

pas de masque - a pre-canon Spiderverse fic focusing on Gwen's terrible experiences in the Spider-Society, and just what it's like to learn you're doomed in every other universe, and that no one will let you stop it.

The Show Must Go On - a fun little theatre AU for Deltarune, where Susie's been arrested, and the only way for her to not be arrested is to join a club. She chooses theatre, which Noelle is coincidentally the director of. Romance, friendship, and theatre chaos ensues. (also, I LOVE writing Kris in this fic.) It's the fic I've been working on the longest.

what is a god? - my exploration of the Lords in Black, and how they think and treat Hatchetfield and their puppets, written at 12 am after finishing Nerdy Prudes Must Die. Despite that, I’m still pretty proud of it!

used to think about you (everywhere i go) - a post-canon Nimona (movie-verse) fic, in which Nimona gets to work out her complex feelings about Gloreth by standing at her grave. Sometimes therapy is yelling at your ex-bestie's grave, more at 11.

one hell of a normal abnormality - a fic where I wrote Pete actually seeming to care that Ruth and Richie weren't there at Homecoming, with a decent exploration of grief and feeling guilty. Also, I think I was the first one to use the green-hair-after-being-touched-by-Wiggly headcanon.

5. Do you respond to comments?

Yes, of course! I love comments - you read my whole chapter/fic, and you liked it enough to post your reaction! Amazing, I love you, I would literally die for some commentors.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oh, this is hard. Most of the fic I write is angst, so tough to pick. I'd say the real competition is between life underground (it's over now) and always be my favourite ghost. But if I had to choose, it would be the first one, because that ends with Chara literally ripping up their adoption certificate, and thinking they’ll never be a part of the Dreemurr family. And we all know what happens next. :(

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Oh, this one’s pretty easy. like real people do. It’s a short, canon divergent one shot I wrote for a podcast, Monstrous Agonies that I was super into - even submitted a couple of letters to the podcast I was pretty proud of. It ends with the characters sort-of rekindling their relationship, after accidentally broadcasting them kissing through the radio. It actually managed to predict a decent amount of the actual finale, too!

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Thankfully, I haven't gotten any yet. Hoping that that streak continues.

9. Do you write smut?

Ha! No. And it's probably not going to happen for a long time, if ever. I'm apparently a bit of a nerdy prude myself. I have written at least one fic that's only plot was two characters kissing, though.

10. Do you write crossovers?

I haven’t yet! Maybe someday.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Also, no. Benefits of being a smaller fic writer, I guess.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope! But if that ever happens to me, I'm gonna scream

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Not yet! I was thinking of co-writing a Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes fic with a friend in real life, though. It was a really good movie, but I haven't made a lot of progress on it.

14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

You know, I'm really not sure? I mostly read gen fic, but for shipping? I'd have to say probably Noelle/Susie, or Paul Matthews/Emma Perkins? It really depends on the day - I'll read a lot of ships.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?

None so far! My WIPs currently are probably going to take a long time, but I plan to finish all of them. Outlines may be bad, but I am determined!

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I'm really good at internal monologues. And along with that, characterization! I get a lot of really sweet comments about it, and I do like writing character-focused pieces! Which is kind of ironic, given that worrying about writing characters wrong was a pretty big reason I didn’t start writing again until this year.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Dialogue. Oh my god, every time I try to write snappy dialogue, I have new appreciation for comedians and dialogue-heavy writers. Those people are so talented. Sometimes I act out dialogue I’ve written and I want to throw myself into the sun.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?

Look. I took French for five years. But every time I try to speak French, one of my best friends looks like she wants to fight me. I am not great at languages other than English. I am positive that if I tried to write dialogue by myself, I would just resort to DeepL, or Google Translate, and nobody wants that. If I have to write in another language, I'm going to try and get a translator.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Are we counting works posted to ao3, or first fic ever? Because the first fic I ever posted to ao3 was for a podcast, Spirit Box Radio, that I should really relisten to at some point. But my first fandom I ever wrote for was Gravity Falls - the fic's still posted to Quotev, and I have reread it recently. It was a next-generation fic.

Things had been great since then– he asked MJ out, started attending Columbia, and got to continue being Spider-Man. So, when Nick Fury showed up in his apartment once more, Peter knew his good luck streak was coming to a close. Sure enough, Fury informed him that there was an alien named Thanos intent on collecting ridiculously powerful “infinity stones” in order to use them to wipe out half of the universe. Which, really? Peter just wanted to be able to make it to his college graduation. Timeline Pre-Homecoming: 1 month and a half since the civil war. MCU Peter was Swinging around the city, hand on a phone, texting Happy; then out of nowhere, a drone hit Peter!

In another timeline, the drone wouldn't have hit Peter, but he was on his phone and wasn't paying attention. And his Spider-sense didn't deem the drone to be a threat. (idiot)
