The SS Ayrfield is one of the most eeriest abandoned wrecks in the world. It was in my 'to do list' in Australia. And, finally it happened with the help of Sabit, a super warm-hearted guy...who took me there. The ship had another name before becoming SS Ayrfield which was SS Corrimal. The ship started it's life in 1911 in a dockyard in Grangemouth, Scotland and it served in Pacific waters trasporting US soldiers to the war zones during the Second World War. It changed it's job description after the war and became a collier and finally ended it's working life in 1972. It was sent to Homebush Bay which served as a ship-breaking yard then and later a ship cemetery. When I lived in Sydney I used to go to The Good Food and Wine Festival every year and I misd it... this year, coincidentally, I was back in Sydney while it's on. Today was the opening day and it runs over the weekend at Homebush Olympic Park. Once you pay the rather expensive entry fee you can try hundreds of different foods - fresh, packaged, cooked, cheese, beverages and wines. It's interesting talking to the sellers too. It is really hard work to get your product onto the market and supermarket shelves. There is so much research, development, marketing, selling, everything. For some reason I am attracted to things that have something to do with me... here at one of the #Taiwanese stalls, # they were making and selling Taiwanese #noodlesoup and #dumplings. #Yum! I laughed so hard when I saw this noodle making machine. She was fine tuning it but once this 'chef' gets going he goes really fast. It goes straight I got to practise my Chinese Mandarin too lol.
