Okay I have a story.
So my birthday is this Sunday (May 26th). My mom ordered some presents for me but one of them (an Etsy purchase) was seemingly stuck in transit and might not make it on time. I tell my mom all good, no worries. She gets in contact with the seller. After a long delay in response they get back with "Right we'll fix it!" It ships, tracking label and everything, good to go! ETA May 22nd (yesterday.)
During the work day I check the tracking and it says it's been delivered in/at mailbox! I double check with my mom "hey, is it mailbox size?" because if not, I don't want it sitting at the front door where anyone walking by could snag it.
She says "it's definitely NOT mailbox size." Okay. I text my neighbors in the building "Anyone seen a package delivered? It's a birthday gift from my mom and I wanna make sure it gets inside!" Success! Floor 2 David (not to be confused with Floor 1 David) had brought it inside. Inform my mom. All good!
I stop by home briefly around 4pm, because yesterday was hot-hot and I just installed my window A/C that morning in the living room, and according to my cat cam my stupid cat hasn't spent a single second in the climate controlled living room and is, instead, voluntarily baking herself elsewhere so I'm like "great" and hop on my bike to go home (10 minute ride) to check on her.
I get in the building door. Patches is crying from the top floor because she heard me. I maneuver my bike in the front hall. The ugliest fucking 6-foot-tall cat tree(?)/totem(?)/statue(?) I've seen in my entire life is just. Standing there.
My first thought is "What the fuck is that." My second thought is "Oh fuck that is for me." I look around at the floor in case there's perhaps anything else that might, in fact, be the gift.
No. Me and Cat Pole.
It's taller than me. I turn it around to face me and its face is painted and this is, in fact, uglier than it looked from the back.
Um.
Patches is crying. So I just haul it up to my level. MAYBE it was supposed to come with twine that I wrap around it (and hide its face from the world) for Patches to scratch. Maybe this is a prank. Maybe this is an inside joke, because when my mom moved into her current house the neighborhood gifted her some ugly-as-hell totem that apparently, by tradition, each newest-comer to the neighborhood is required to have and display in their window so maybe this is a very good riff on that.
Patches rubs against it. She's not afraid of this horrid facsimile of her kind.
Great.
Meanwhile SHE'S fine and the condo is a little toasty but totally liveable so I'm like "Good, cool, you're not baking. You're having a good time. Enjoy your new sister, I guess, I'll see you later."
I go back to work because this is a problem for later me.
After work, after my run, after whatever, I get home and it's like 8:00pm and Patches is so happy to see me and the totem pole is still just. There.
I text my friends like "so a bday gift is here from my mom and it's the Biggest Ugliest cat pole I've seen in my life. Is this a bit? Did my mom go 'that's so ugly haha! send!' Maybe she genuinely found it cute. How do I navigate this." My friend Sarah has the good advice to maybe text my mom neutrally like "Got the cat pole!" and feel the waters whether my mom is like "Isn't it ugly? 😂" or "Hope Patches likes it! 🥰"
My mom goes to bed early so I don't do any of that yet. Problem for tomorrow me.
This morning, Patches wakes me up for breakfast. I get her situated and I'm staring at the fucking Cat Pole again. I wonder if my Mom's been wondering all night what I thought of it.
I take a picture. I text her.
Okay.
I get on call with my mom. I ask for clarity that the ungodly horrid thing is NOT my birthday gift and is in fact a mix-up from the seller who sent me this instead of my actual gift. She's wheezing between words. She thinks I'm being too charitable for the amount of Absolute Fucking Ugly this is. I have to gently talk her out of using the word "monstrosity" while messaging the seller asking what the hell happened here.
I tell her I need to apologize for harming her dignity with Floor 2 David, who thinks this fucking thing is my mom's idea of a great birthday gift for her to-be-28-year-old daughter.
My heart goes out to the poor soul who did actually order this cat totem and is lacking it on this lovely day.

The Biggest Blunders Home Sellers Are Making in Today's Market
The housing market is transitioning. Higher mortgage rates are leading to more moderate buyer activity just as the supply of homes for sale is increasing.
If you aren’t working with an agent, you might not be aware of this shift. Here's the downside: without being informed, you can’t adjust your strategy or expectations to today’s market, which can result in costly mistakes.
Here are some common mistakes and how an agent can help you avoid them when selling your home:
Overpricing Your House
Many sellers set their asking price too high, leading to an increase in price reductions. An unrealistic price can deter potential buyers, cause appraisal issues, or leave your house sitting on the market for too long. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) explains:
“Some sellers are pricing their homes higher than ever just because they can, but this may drive away serious buyers and result in unapproved appraisals”
To avoid this trap, partner with a pro. An agent leverages recent sales of similar homes, the condition of your house, and local market trends to find a price that’ll attract more buyers, leading to multiple offers and a faster sale.
Skipping the Small Stuff
You might think you can skip important repairs and pass the task on to your buyer. However, visible issues, even if small, can turn off potential buyers and result in lower offers or demands for concessions. As Money Talks News says:
“Home shoppers like to turn on lights, flush toilets and run the water. If these basic things don’t work, they may assume you’ve skipped other maintenance. Homes that appear neglected aren’t likely to fetch top price.”
If you’re preparing to sell, your best resource for advice is your agent. They can walk through your home with you and highlight any necessary fixes before the photographer arrives.
Not Looking at Things Objectively
Today’s buyers are facing high home prices and mortgage rates, which may lead them to make offers lower than you’d like, especially if your home isn’t staged, priced, or marketed effectively.
It’s crucial not to take this personally. Allowing emotions to cloud your judgment can jeopardize the sale. As Ramsey Solutions explains:
“Remember, a buyer’s offer is not a reflection of their opinion of your home or your housekeeping abilities. . . The sale of your home is strictly a business transaction. If they start out with a low offer, don’t take it personally and get emotional. Instead, channel that energy toward negotiating. Work with your agent and make a counteroffer.”
Being Unwilling to Negotiate
With an increased supply of homes on the market, buyers now have more choices and greater negotiation power. You might encounter requests for inspections, repairs, or assistance with closing costs. Being open to negotiation is crucial. As U.S. News Real Estate notes:
“If you've received an offer for your house that isn't quite what you'd hoped it would be, expect to negotiate . . . the only way to come to a successful deal is to make sure the buyer also feels like he or she benefits . . . consider offering to cover some of the buyer's closing costs or agree to a credit for a minor repair the inspector found.”
An agent will guide you through the options available, tailoring strategies to fit your goals, budget, and timeline.
Not Using a Real Estate Agent
Notice a pattern? Each of these pitfalls can be avoided with the guidance of a real estate agent. Selling your home without one is often the biggest mistake.
Agents bring experience and expertise in pricing, marketing, negotiating, and more. Their knowledge simplifies the selling process, attracts more buyers, and can ultimately secure a higher selling price for your home.
Bottom Line
If you want to avoid making mistakes like these, let’s connect to make sure you’re set up for success.

Seller Strategy: How Are You Communicating Seller Choices in Light of the NAR Lawsuit?
Has the Moerhl vs NAR et al lawsuit changed your commission discussion? Coach Denise Lones has advice to help keep agents out of trouble when discussing commission with their clients.
The class-action lawsuit against the National Association of REALTORS® and a number of MLSs around the country should have you taking notice. The plaintiffs allege that because of the way buyer-agent compensation has been framed-up to sellers, it has created cooperation amongst brokerages and therefore is a violation of anti-trust law.
Whether true or not, which is up to the courts to decide, many MLSs have already taken action to alter their forms and provide agents with best-practices education. However, if you are still doing your listing presentations the way you always have, this is a very good time to reevaluate and make sure you are presenting compensation issues in a way that keeps you out of danger.
As a real estate professional, it is important to update any marketing materials you have that explain compensation, especially anything that you use which explains how compensation is paid and who is responsible for paying it. If you are a Club Zebra member, take a look at the sample resources below and use them to help guide your conversations with sellers. Using visuals like this can make it easier for your clients to understand their choices and what is in their best interest.

YOUR HOME-SELLING STRATEGY This 8.5" x 11" document can be easily printed off as an agenda item for your listing presentations.
INFOGRAPHIC: YOUR HOME-SELLING STRATEGY These social media posts will intrigue potential sellers and get them asking questions about the six elements that create the seller's strategy.
Although your seller process may differ, there are essentially six elements that make up a listing strategy. This strategy should take into account the seller’s listing timeline, time and energy they have to do repairs and maintenance, how they want to handle their listing in terms of other agents and buyers, and who they select for their listing agent in terms of their marketing and photography program. Specifically, those six elements that make up a seller’s strategy includes:
Home Preparation
Home Pricing Strategy
Photography and Marketing
Buyer Enticements
Buyer Showings
Reviewing Offers
It is key to communicate to your seller that there is no industry standard for these strategic elements, that creating this strategy is the seller’s choice. When discussing your recommended methods, it is important that the seller understand that these are your personal methods that you follow in your business or are outlined by your brokerage.
Whether you need help with a specific section of your presentation or you are ready to take it all to a whole new level, we can help.
Reach out and schedule a consultation today!
Although you may talk about these six elements individually at a listing presentation, packaging these together into a single strategy discussion is likely different from what other agents are doing, providing you with a point-of-difference over your competition.
Does your listing presentation include language that will keep you out of trouble? Make sure you are discussing your services and seller options correctly!

🌈Based on your talents, what business should you launch?💰🪙
Hello! I hope everyone is doing great. I'm going through a phase where I started wondering if I wanted to go back to work for an employer, or even if it was worthy after I've acknowledged all my potential and the fact no one would ever pay for the real price of my work. Aquarium era is hitting me harder, and I bet you too are feeling this call to reach financial freedom. We deserve it.
I want to contribute with your awakening.
Please take a deep breath, focus on what's in front of you and pick the picture you feel more attracted to.
Pile I → Pile II
Pile III → Pile IV
🌱Pile I🌱
OMG, pile 1, you are so kind and empathetic that people want to open up to you and ask for your opinion/advice on topics such as recent breakups, petty fights with mom, best friend betrayal drama and so. Even though that's not the main purpose for them going into your store/business. If you weren't an entrepreneur, you could've been an excellent therapist since your serene demeanor and polite speech would make others believe they are speaking to a good friend. You show you care for what you are being told by providing meaningful replies, and I could swear people go crazy over your attentive gaze. Some of you are natural, others are really good actors (no one is to be judged here). Your patience and warm personality real or not sells, people could purchase anything from your business if you are the one assisting, which can be a boomer if you are aiming for leaving someone else in charge and doing the counts behind the scenes, knowing you are one of the best sellers.
You could own a coffee store given how good you are at building spaces where people will gather and feel safe. Not only that, you can create beautiful settings that will make others immerse in a new world like the tea room from a dollhouse or within a Monet painting. You will succeed at making them distance themselves from real world's problems, thus they could be more open to speak about something that feels so far away. To be honest, I don't think everyone that chose this pile would identify with this business idea. For some serving, cooking and simping chai latte over the daily gossips feels like a waste of their potential. You guys are right, another part of group which's artsy in nature is more aligned with fashion, beauty, and textiles. But I swear you all have the potential to manifest large amounts of money in one sale. I didn't have to crack my head open thinking about what type of business could allow that as designing is your strong suit. You are a master when it comes to making colors, fabrics. and whatnot march. A small part of this group loves sweets and how food can make others happy, therefore you could settle down for having a bakery and specializing on wedding cakes. However, some of you are contemplating the idea of running a drift or wedding dress store. For the ones willing to work with the brides, I assure your business will do well. You have the patience of a Greek hero going against the gods' will, so I see you nailing sales that took plenty of your time and energy.
I hope this reading was to your liking♡. I'm offering paid readings about this topic here. You can find more free content on my blog.
🌱Pile 2🌱
I didn't know "giving a fuck" was a talent until I drew your cards, dear pile 2. You are strong people, you don't care if others start hating you for doing your job. Like 5% of the people who picked this pile dreamed with being a hitman and go ahead guys, you'll do great. Now, a large percent of you have questionable morals, allowing you to work in fields where you can turn corrupted and earn wealth as a politician, lawyer, or even a doctor. I know those are career choices, but the real business for you is owning agencies, institutes, clinics, and funeral homes. I am not even making the latter up. Some of you won't care about the taboo-ish nature of your work. You approach business with level-headedness and practicality, thus if it pays wells as any other job related to humans needs... dealing with the deads is easier than their family but you will still do the job or you will hire someone to do it eventually. Curiously, you are great at making people feel better. You aren't that talkative, but you know how to make others laugh with your silly jokes, pulling weird faces, providing them with food or water and much needed space.
Some of you are radicals and into activism. You have plenty of pent-up anger and aggressiveness inside of you that you will directed at facing opposing forces. You might start a charitable cause and talk people into volunteering. Yeah, I know it won't give you money or not so much, but hear me out! You could own an institute for people with special needs or another for learning languages. There's a high chance you might end up working with foreigners, what gave you that business idea when you thought on how to help them improve their lifestyle. Some of you could be interested in farming or owning a supermarket. You would feel inclined to hire immigrants regardless of the consequences. Actually, what are consequences to you? You don't fucking care. You see people suffering, you help them. There's no other logic in your brain.
I hope this reading was to your liking♡. I'm offering paid readings about this topic here. You can find more free content on my blog.
🌱Pile 3🌱
Ok, guys, I love how unbothered you are when it comes to your line of work and what people have to say about it. Unlike pile 2, you are not interested in top positions that might lead to corruption, dirty money and living a very intense life. You are the complete opposite, you are humble and like to contribute to the community. You have a great intuition and observation skills, so upon checking your town or the place you want to install your business in, you will know what spot in the market needs to be filled right away. You can also tell what the community's needs are; you are not afraid of getting your hands dirty, so you could feel inclined to run a fish or convenience store. I feel like you want to belong, so not only your business won't cover a necessity, but also will turn into something traditional, even "iconic" for your neighbourhood. Is a music store still a thing? I feel like a small part of this group longs to have one.
You have all what it takes to manifest a long-lasting business. You are highly talented at nurturing and you might see your business like a "baby". It's not just your money source, but something to care about and fight for. Some of you might be interested in running an esoteric shop, where people is going to get their cards read or purchase herbs, incienses, candles, and so on. Mostly, this pile wants to have an unique business or for it to be the sole provider of something. E.g, you might own the only bookstore with coffee services at town. Also, I believe some of you will settle for moving out to a town or the countryside and start a business over there.
I hope this reading was to your liking♡. I'm offering paid readings about this topic here. You can find more free content on my blog.
🌱Pile 4🌱
Hello, guys! This pile is slightly different from the rest since I feel like going straight to the point and sparing unnecessary details, but I might annoy you as I'm not leaving nothing unsaid. You are known for being busy and most times you seem to be in a hurry. You are always working on something, even in high school your friends knew you were too invested on your studies and earning money than hanging out with people your age. You probably like technology and travelling, so you could own a business like a travel agency (in your country or another), transport or event planning company. In all honesty, you might end up running all three of them. The term "workaholic" does not make justice to what you are, but I will call you a genius. You were born to steal the spotlight by your innovative style at the moment of giving birth to your ideas into the real world. You can mix all your interests together and create a new business that will leave people gawking, like an app who allows users to match with vacation spots instead of people or something like that?
Some of you will rather work with tourists, renting cars, boats, and properties so their basic needs are covered. I don't know how many of you are sporty but you are adamant about turning one of your interests/hobbies in your business. You might run your own indoor rock climbing centre. If you were to ask me for specifications on what's your talent, I would say you are a natural when it comes to businesses and you hold such control over your emotions. You put your sole focus on work, nothing can distract you from achieving your goals. Not even your family, so I can see you making up to your dear ones with expensive gifts or generous check after you missed an important family event again.
I hope this reading was to your liking♡. I'm offering paid readings about this topic here. You can find more free content on my blog.

My gift for the hilarious @ladytyburn for the Nagato Birthday gift exchange! Expanding again on her office AU (this is why Kisame has been un-fished a bit YES it felt wrong but I'm strong)
[Image ID: A three page digital comic about Nagato's birthday.
On the first panel, Konan seems to be thinking hard, a cup of coffee in her hand, Itachi stands next to her and asks: "What's wrong Konan?" She explains: "It's Nagato's birthday on Tuesday... And I don't know what to get him..." Itachi innocently answers, thinking about old Madara: "Oh I know the struggle, I never know what to get my grandpa. Old people haha." She put a hand on his shoulder, and tell him through gritted teeth: "Itachi... Nagato is 35." Itachi is very embarrassed and apologizes. Before he can add anything he's interrupted by Deidara who put his hand on Itachi's shoulder, saying to Konan: "You could buy me art!" She asks: "Can you guarantee it won't explode?" to which he answers: "Nope!" so she dismiss the idea. Hidan includes himself in the conversation, suggesting: "Easy! Buy yourself lingerie and surprise him!" Deidara and Itachi are mortified, scolding him: "Hidan! That's so inappropriate! And you can't theorize about the boss' private life!" Konan dismiss the idea, unphased: "Nah I already have enough and picked one already for that night." Itachi is even more mortified, feeling like this is Too Much Info. Sasori chimes in holding a doll still in her box, suggesting it for the present, but Konan dismiss it as well. She says: "I want something truly special. More personal-" Sasori attempt to chime in again, saying: "A you shaped doll-" but she angrily dismiss him again, pushing him down with her hand. Kisame tells her wisely: "You know him the best, Konan. Trust yourself. Pick something that will make you think of him."
On the next page, Konan is out of the office, wearing casual clothes with a small green backpack and wanders what seems to be a mall, still upset and thinking: "... Something that will make me think of him..." Her attention is caught by something and she smiles at last, saying: "Oh! This is!..." On the next panel she holds a book over her head triumphantly, exclaiming: "Our old teach's new book!! Yes! This is perfect!! He loved the first one!" She is standing next to a book display with a poster of Jiraiya in a funny pose and goofy expression, the poster reads: "New! By 'best seller' '''author''' Jiraiya." On the next panel, time has past and it is now Nagato's birthday. He is late at work, just closing his laptop, appearing tired and saying: "-Sigh- It's already 7 pm. I didn't see time pass by... Again... Time to go home." But as he comes out of his office on his wheelchair (wearing his coat and froggie slippers), he is surprised by loud exclamations and the pop of multiple party horns and confetti thrower. His employees yells: "Happy birthday boss!!" While he looks horrified and genuinely scared.
On the next panel, the office is all prepped for a party, a tablet is set up with Zetsu the plant (wearing a bowtie), a cake and a bottle of champagne. Hidan is holding balloons and is yelling, pointing at the table: "We even got you a cake!" A banner hanging on the wall reads: "Happy 635th birthday!" Deidara is screaming: "I got fireworks!" holding one up in the air. On the side, Kakuzu is sleeping on an office chair next to a table with a cup on it. A caption reads: "was drugged to avoid a money tantrum." Nagato is all confused, hair disheveled by the shock. Konan is standing in the middle, holding her present, looking all embarrassed, she tells him: "I'm so sorry, I didn't know they'd do this..." She then give him the present, watching him unwrap it with a soft smile, reminiscing a dear memory of their teacher putting his hands on their head when they were kids, Nagato holding his book preciously. She says: "I took Kisame's advice and picked something that made me think of us... I think you'll love it." The background behind her is made of grey and pinkish roses. But when Nagato unwraps the book he totally misses the author name and is instead shocked to read the big warning in the corner: "R18, this is porn." He turns red and sit shocked and confused with the book in his hands. The background behind him is a collage of ahegaos (I'm sorry). Konan put her hands next to her face, smiling wide and asking: "So... Do you like it?" Next to her is a caption pointing at her: "Genuinely did not check." She looks so happy but Nagato is still red and confused, he doesn't want to offend her and ruin her happiness so he answers: "Y-yes thank you." Everyone in the room (even the plant) looks at him with a knowing naughty smile as he gets even more embarrassed, Nagato frowns wondering: "Why in front of everyone!" /.End ID]

Good morning, Gaza.. The morning bulletin in you no longer talks about fitness, healthy foods, and community advice... Rather, it has all become body parts and death. Blood. There are no longer roads filled with students going to school, nor with the sounds of microphones and the sports teacher calling out to his students, “Long live a free Arab Palestine!” The cake seller and the aunts no longer shout in the morning as they roam all the streets of the city on foot seeking their livelihood. The smell of falafel and sage that dominates the taste of tea no longer fills the streets and leaks from the windows of homes and the doors of shops selling them. The windows and doors are no longer in the first place. Everything has become damaged, our beautiful Gaza.. But no matter how many crises hit you.. the ears of wheat will bear fruit again, the shade trees will grow, the buildings will be built and the roads will be paved, Gaza will return with its beautiful mornings and its splendid view.. and they will tell you which one is more deserving. ..Say, yes, by God, it is true.

Fire and Fury Part 2
Anger Issues!Hades x Apollo’s Child!Reader
Part 1
Word count: 3,781
Warnings: fluffy in the beginning with angst at the end (this is not the final chapter so dw), unresolved angst, reader cries and has a bit of an emotional break down, Uli is mean (not bullying though), mentions of stress and anxiety
Summary: After asking you to Castlecoming, Hades has an epiphany. At the same time, you are talking to Mali and Uli about him, but things take a turn when Uli gets on your case about something
Hades nerves were on fire.
He’d been on fire before, but he had no idea how to douse this one out.
Clenching a certain object within his fist, he paced back and forth in front of the fountain. If one of his friends saw him like this they’d never let him live it down, calling him a “mountain lion” or some other big cat.
He didn’t like cats.
Wait; what if you liked cats? Would he have to change his worldview on those vampiric creatures in order to please you? Hades didn’t suppose he minded too much, but for the time being he’d stick to his opinion on those creatures.
Pacing wasn’t doing enough. The excited and terrified energy coursing through his veins were building up. He began jumping on the balls of his feet and shaking his arms out like some uncoordinated dancer.
That helped. A little.
With the nerves easing up, his brain so kindly reminded him why he was so worried in the first place.
He had indirectly asked you to meet up with him after school. He didn’t want to do it today -coming up with a million excuses- but his friends were exceedingly pushy and threatened him in a million and one ways.
They assured him you’d show up.
But what if you didn’t show up? What if you had figured it out and didn’t want to confront him? What if-
“Hades?”
He froze; still as death.
You were here. You showed up.
Looking at your lackluster eyes filling with curiosity, Hades cleared his throat and looked away.
“What are you doing here?” He grumbled quietly, bashful upon suddenly seeing you.
“Um, James told me you said to meet you here after school?” You told him, turning confused.
Right.
He did have him tell you that.
“Of course.” Hades tried not to stammer. “That’s right.”
You both just stood there, barely an arms length away from each other. Hades was mentally hitting himself at his foolishness. Twenty minutes ago his friends were pestering him with all sorts of advice. Telling him pointless things on how to “make you feel welcome” and “look happy to see you”. The only one he mildly liked was being told to compliment you.
“You, uh, look nice today…” he forced out, cringing internally at how strained it sounded.
You looked down at your clothes, then back up.
“I wear this everyday, Hades.”
A noise escaped him.
“I-I knew that!” He attempted to salvage himself. “I just meant that something- that something seems different. You just- you look really nice, is all.”
“Oh.” Was all you said, and Hades couldn’t tell if that was a good thing or not. Your gaze trailed off from his, then latched onto his hand.
“What’s that?”
Hades looked where the question was aimed.
Oh, right.
Taking a big, deep breath, he shot his hand out to show you.
“It’s a-“
“A sun-catcher!” You exclaimed, dropping most of your usual mellow energy. You bent over to examine it closely; arms behind your back.
“You know what it is?”
You gave him an amused look before latching your eyes back onto the item.
“Of course I know what it is, I keep dozens in my dorm.”
His spirits dropped upon hearing that. You already had a lot of them. Why did he think it would make a great asking gift-
“But this one is beautiful.” You stated in awe, transfixed on the pieces dangling from the ends that sparkled in the sunlight. Hades moved it into your hand, and you -not missing a beat- took hold of it and held it up to eye level.
“Really?”
“Yes, I’ve never seen one like it. The home seller I buy mine from is the only place I’ve found that sells these.” You paused before taking your attention off the catcher for another moment. “You didn’t make it did you?”
Oh, the way that you said that. It was full of wonder and impressiveness, and Hades was so very tempted to say yes”. But, he would never lie to you like that. With regret, he told you no.
Maleficent had secured it for him when he told her what gift he wanted to get you, though he didn’t ask her where or how she found it. He had brainstormed a long time before figuring out exactly what he was going to give you when he asked you-
“Is it for me?” You questioned without an air of hope, not wanting to assume anything. You nudged your face forward. “Is that why you asked me to meet you? To give me this?”
Hades sucked in a breath, nerves returning and jumping around his whole body.
“Yes.” He blurted out. “It’s a gift, for you.”
You smiled at that; eyelids low in a humorous manner.
“Is it supposed to be a peace offering of some sort?”
Opening his mouth like a fish, hades closed it, then opened it again. It wasn’t meant to be a peace offering, but he hadn’t really planned on giving you one. However, he supposed this was as close as he would get.
“Not really.” He finally answered. Your limited cheeriness fell. “But that’s because-“ Hades froze again. His limbs stiffened, but his golden blood ran hot from his toes up to his face. He inhaled again.
“I got the sun-catcher for you as a gift, because I was going to- because I’m… asking you out to Castlecoming. Will you go to Castlecoming with me?”
He held his breath, having finally got it out.
What would you say? Surely you’d reject him. He deserved it after all; due to how he’d treated you in all the time he’s known you.
What was he thinking, asking you to Castlecoming? Someone else probably already asked you, because why wouldn’t they? You were level-headed and didn’t let anyone get under your skin, but you were also kind and compassionate despite your nature for seemingly not caring. Why would you ever go to the dance with-
“Yes.”
Hades brain shut down.
“What?”
“I said yes. Should I repeat it again?”
Hades couldn’t even begin to describe how you looked right then.
The first thing he noticed was your eyes. It was always your eyes. They were alight with pure joy and warmed his cold heart like the sun’s rays.
The rest of your face was much the same; sunny and happy at his proposition, with dimples on full display.
You had dimples?!
The only thing shocking him more than that, was when he realized, you were blushing.
It wasn’t some natural blush; he had never seen you with one, even in the sun. You were flushed dark, flickering your eyes away from him, head drawn downwards.
Were you flustered? Because of him?
Did you like him?
Hades reeled at the thought. Surely not. But your reaction.
He took a step back.
He tried not to think of all the possibilities making their way known unto him at the new information. Most involved dating, a couple may have involved kissing-
Snap out of it!
Hades brought his head out of the clouds and back down to his spike-clad body.
You two were friends. You probably said yes because you were friends. If you were blushing because you did like him, well -Hades tried and failed not to blush himself at that- he figured it’d be best to unpack that during Castlecoming.
And now, he came to realize, you were staring at him. You had witnessed whatever awful way his internal turmoil had manifested physically on him and were fixating on him now; blush still creeping up your cheeks.
Did you know what he was thinking? Did Apollo have a penchant for reading people’s minds?
Hades didn’t want to stick around to find out.
Chickening out like the coward he was (which he wasn’t), he ducked his head and swiftly exited the courtyard.
Before he could get out of ear-shot, however, he heard you shout out to him; amusement in your voice.
“ON ONE CONDITION THOUGH; KEEP YOUR FLAMES IN CHECK!”
Hades smiled to himself, ducking under archways.
Only for you.
“Congrats mate!” Hook clapped him on the back. “Maybe you have game after all.”
Hades shoved his hand off with a toothy grin.
“It’s not that big a deal.”
“Of course it is!” Morgie told him. “It’s your first date!”
The boys were hanging out in Hook’s dorm that evening. The two of them were ever so eager to hear how it went earlier with you and if you had said yes.
“It is not my first date.” Hades lied, crossing his arms.
“You’ve never dated anyone in all the time we’ve known you. And you’re not exactly… easy to deal with.” Hook said.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I just mean-“ he tried to get the words out. It’s like he was trying to deliver some sensitive information and didn’t want to just rip the bandaid off. “It’s just that you get mad pretty easily. People get scared of you. Spell- I’m surprised you haven’t even lit anything on fire yet.”
Hades wasn’t too surprised at those words. But he was surprised at hearing his very own friend say it. Since when was Hook concerned?
He recognized his bad temper; he knew it flared up easily. But, he had never really seen it as a problem. Well, yeah, most didn’t like him because of it, but he didn’t care.
But then there was you.
You cared.
Should he care now since you did? He did suppose it was part of the condition you gave him with taking you to the dance. It was reasonable after all; the last thing anyone -least of all you- needed was some accidental arson during Castlecoming.
But it wasn’t just Castlecoming. The whole time he’s known you, you’re always done with his attitude; the moment the flames showed up you were doing something about it.
If you hated it so much, then why did you want to go with him? Hades chose to push the thought away, not wanting it to pester him further.
And then, of course, there was the incident where he got hurt.
You were not amused at his behavior; and looking back, Hades found he actually felt a bit guilty about it. But the instant he cut his face and gave his head a near-concussion, you were by his side. You were nothing but kind and caring, healing his ailments away.
Hades desperately wished you would be like that all the time with him.
Wait.
What if he could?
The gears turned in his mind as he correlated your behavior in reaction to his own. If he managed to get his anger under control, then maybe you’d be like that more. Not in the way that he was injured; he didn’t want to hurt himself to get that. Rather, if you could see and know that he could be patient and understanding with others, you would no longer treat him with disinterest. And if you didn’t already like him; it would surely make you like him more.
“Hey, you okay man?” Morgie asked, interrupting his good-hearted scheming.
Hades turned to look at him, countenance glowing.
“Never better.”
“Good for you, darling.” Uliana told you, lounging against her tentacles in a makeshift throne. “I’m so happy for you two.”
You turned abashed.
“It’s not that big a deal.” You mumbled absentmindedly.
“Don’t say that to Hades.” Maleficent wisped. “You’ll break his shriveled little heart.”
The three of you were hanging out in Uli’s dorm, with you and Mali sitting on her round bed that seemed to be impossibly suspended from the ceiling by chains. After Hades had asked you to Castlecoming, the two had practically pulled you in the room to ask you about it; You hadn’t even told them what happened.
“His heart’s not that shriveled.” You murmured, voice sounding very far away; pondering how sweet Hades was to you earlier.
“You know how he acts, Honey.” Uliana drawled. “The moment he gets the slightest inconvenience he becomes a lit stick of dynamite.”
“I’m not blind.” You sighed deeply. “I know that. But I also know he isn’t just that.”
“Oh?” Uli raised a manicured brow. “What else is he like?”
Bringing your lidded eyes over to hers, you contemplated the best answer to tell first.
“Well,” you contemplated it. “Just earlier, when he asked me to Castlecoming. He… well, he was actually very sweet. For once he wasn’t trying to keep up his “bad boy” facade, and spoke sincerely.” Your mouth formed an easy-going smile. “He complimented me; said I looked nice. And he gave me this sun catcher-“ you lifted it up from where you had been holding it. “And I know that he came up with that himself, because I haven’t told anyone else who my father is or that I decorate my room with these. And when I asked him if it was a peace offering… he said no. He was honest. He could have lied for my good graces but he was honest.” You carefully set the catcher back in your lap as you looked at it. It really was the most beautiful craft you had ever seen. And he had gotten it; just for you.
“Have you considered that just because he treats you nice now, that doesn’t mean he’s truly a nice person.” Maleficent tested.
You just grinned wryly, a little laugh in your throat.
“I think you forget: I can see the future.”
Not that it could do much.
“And what does that mean for Hades?” Mali jabbed lightly with a jut of her chin.
You remembered what it had to do with Hades.
Your smile faded. Your eyes dimmed.
You tried not to think about it. You really did. However, it was an ever-looming presence that threatened to crush you under its weight.
You had never told anyone else.
You hadn’t told anyone else the things you had seen. Both the good and the bad. A very evil bad. But telling them the bad would do no good, so why would you?
“I have a future with Hades.”
Two pairs of eyes went wide as discs.
“I haven’t seen all of it.” You rushed quickly. “Just a few bits and pieces, but they’re happy bits and pieces.”
The comforter you were sitting criss-cross on was beginning to feel a little uncomfortable.
“Like, marriage?” Uliana said, absolutely bewildered. You shook your head.
“I don’t think so; I never saw any rings. But our connection appeared romantic.”
The vision burned into your eyes again. It was you and Hades, standing somewhere near the ocean. With an embrace and loving kiss, you swore you had never seen so great a joy as was present on his face. His eyes shone like a thousand rays as they rained tears, beholding an equally-as-emotional, older version of you in his arms.
You weren’t quite sure what it meant, but you had a good idea based on your other visions of the distant future.
Eyeing your friends, you couldn’t help but wonder how they’d react. It seemed unbelievable, that in just a short amount of time their whole lives would be upended; nay, stolen. The magnitude and traumatic effect would be incomprehensible.
And you had to hold it all inside; alone.
If you told them, it would at best delay the inevitable. And at worst, it could end their lives.
Of course, that didn’t even get into the bad future awaiting Hades before all of that if he couldn’t learn to control his temper. But you could handle that. You would handle it, and make sure he got to experience great things before… it happened.
You took in a large, slightly wavering breath as you tried to shake off the negative emotions that were beginning to stick themselves to you like needles in a pincushion.
Now was supposed to be a happy time. A joyous time. You were going to give them one.
“I know it’s not my responsibility to “fix” Hades.” You started with an attempt at a calming air, hands on your crossed legs. “Nobody should have to “fix” someone to be with them. However, this is the future I have seen and it is the one I want. If that means putting out his fire with a spray bottle like some misbehaved cat; then so be it.”
You always tried not to look into the future about your love life, but you also could foresee potential realities. Only the ones with Hades showed you happy. It was unconventional that you had to approach romance this way, but it was your only option.
“Do you love Hades?” Uli interrupted your thoughts, nearing the floor as her appendages slacked out from under her.
“What?” You turned to look at her.
“You’ve seen your future with him. You’re choosing to be with him.” It sounded like an accusation.
“I guess.” You shrugged awkwardly. “But that’s very personal, just so you know.”
Fully standing up, Uliana strutted to you and poised an arm on one of the suspension chains. She leaned in like a threat towards you.
“And how long have you had that vision? How long have you loved him? He didn’t even know you existed a few weeks ago.” She said, digging into to you verbally to find the missing puzzle piece that would make it all line up in her brain. She thought your feelings were in-genuine.
Shirking under her gaze, you looked at the sun catcher in your hands; fiddling with the little chains.
“More than a year; I’ll tell you that.”
Please let her be satisfied from that answer, you begged silently.
“So why didn’t you talk to him until he threatened that student? If you love him so much, why did you wait until now to pursue him?”
Uliana’s words ran harsh through your ears, and for some reason made your eyes sting a little. Hunching over and clenching the pretty metal thing in your fingers, you felt those pins pricking you again; all over your back and arms and legs. It was cold and numbing.
“Technically, he pursued me first.” You whispered, eyes blank and staring straight down. She was like a hammer, pummeling you flat.
“So why did you wait. What aren’t you telling me?”
You didn’t want to tell her.
“Tell me.”
“I didn’t want to rush into things. You know me; I don’t care about things much.” You declared quietly. It was the truth. Most of it.
“Knowing how you are, I can believe that. But if you love him, then why have you only been paying attention to him when his behavior is bad? Is it part of your “fixing” thing you mentioned? You said you didn’t care!”
“But I care about him!” You cried out, feeling something within you snap. The pins yanked out of you and pulled something with them; leaving you raw. Looking up at her and meeting her harsh glare, you continued with a warm face. “I care about Hades! He’s troubled, but he’s more than that!” The tears started running. “He’s so much more than his anger, and If it gets the better of him, bad things are going to happen to him; I’ve seen it. And I can’t let that happen to him!”
“That still doesn’t answer my question!” Uli all but screamed in your face. You felt spit mixed with rage. “Why have you ignored him until now?”
“It’s complicated!”
“I don’t care!”
“Because I-“ you tried to force the words out, choking on them. “Because I’m afraid of the future.”
You started gasping in huge breaths of air, having finally said those words. Even under the weight of Uliana’s aura of fury, your shoulders began to feel lighter; lifting higher.
“I’m constantly afraid of all these things I see are going to happen, and I can’t always stop them! I get to sit, and watch, and wait as people get to live their happy lives without care. I’ve never been able to view my life as my own, but as a Good Samaritan who’s job it is to prevent tragedies from happening. I don’t care- I try not to care in the present because it’s the only way I can afford my sanity!”
You belted out a pathetic, humorless laugh in front of Uli. Bringing your hands up, you gesture wildly in the dim lighting.
“I’m constantly worried about the future, so I can’t worry about the present! But the present is where things are actually happening, stuff I actually get to enjoy. With all my emotional energy used up, I can’t care! Do you hear me! I. Can’t. Care.”
Feeling a cold hand on your shoulder next to you, you shoved it off and made your way to leave. You weren’t ready to mess up the unlikely friendship you made with these two, but you were too overwhelmed; you needed to leave before you imploded. You were stressing over things you had shoved deep down months ago, and it had all risen to the surface again over a preventable heated exchange you chose to engage in. Great going.
Resting your hand on the door knob, you spared your friends a glance. They were several feet away but it may as well have been one hundred. You felt farther than you had before you truly knew them. Maleficent wore some vague expression of guilt and worry, and Uliana looked somewhere between a mix of anger, and sympathetic confusion. They were unhappy; you caused that
“I know my way of living my life doesn’t make much sense.” You’re voice sounded like a broken record with words all choppy. “But it’s the best way I’ve found to live it. For the first time in many, many years, I’ve finally found something -someone- to care about.”
Taking a pause to gather your last words for the night, you gave them a look that you hoped conveyed your desperation. You wanted to let them know what you desired more than anything else.
“I have never wanted something so much before. I want to be with Hades. I want to go to Castlecoming with him and dance with him and for once-“ your voice cracked again. “For once, I want to not think about the future, and just focus on the present.”
The life left your eyes again as they turned lifeless and dull. Turning the knob, you whispered one last thing before you left.
“So even if you don’t like me anymore after tonight, at least let me have that. Please.”
And just like that, you were gone.

(Leslie's first step was to check with the new seller of Curio Shop. Had Erwin visited him shortly before he mysteriously disappeared?
"I don't know no Erwin Pries!" — George L'Ernitage grumbled angrily when Leslie turned to him with a question about her friend. After looking around, the vendor lowered his voice and began talking about how Leslie should go to 8 Bells and listen to what the military was talking about. Maybe she could glean some information from their conversations?
The girl heeded the advice of the former scientist and went to the bar, but even there she failed to find out anything. Desperate to find out anything about her friend's whereabouts, Leslie returned home and picked up the phone. At the Willow Creek Hospital reception, she was informed that the patient Pries was in a closed psychiatric ward, pose a risk to the public and was strictly forbidden to visit him...)

hey i got my first gecko and it was doing good until i moved it into a larger tub (i wanted it to grow out a bit more before i moved it into its permanent home) and i guess it didnt hold heat as well, i should have been checking but i thought it was fine. it ended up passing and im not sure what to do, i dont want all my preparation to go to waste and i know what i did wrong, but it feels kind of wrong to just .. replace it. any advice?
I’m not sure exactly what advice to give you. as someone interested more in captive breeding arthropods than keeping pets, I’ve gotten used to new creatures dying before I’ve got a chance to know them (poor care from sellers is rife with amblypygi + centipedes). my way of dealing with that is to do better with the ones that thrive, watch their young grow, and work to educate people on why wild caught isn’t ok/if a species just isn’t suited for captivity—probably not relevant to you keeping a single gecko as a pet, though.
I hope you can learn from your mistakes and do better with a new lizard if you get one, but it’s up to you if/when that happens. I do think it’s important to not treat any animals as throwaways, though, so if you need time to mourn or reflect that is entirely necessary

Do you have any advice on transitioning chickens from outdoor life to being house chickens? I recently lost my whole flock to foxes but one silkie, and she’s too scared to go outside again. She’s already a cuddle bug and loves lounging on soft things and being warm, she’s just pretty cautious about any kind of nappy. She’s still recovering from the attack so I wouldn’t be starting anything with her just yet, but any advice would be helpful
Picture of the most beautiful girl for tax
It should be pretty easy, i suggest getting a night time cage for her/ a cage for her to stay in where she can recover. I suggest something like the Deluxe Wabitat. (buy it from the cheapest place you can its fine)
https://www.chewy.com/midwest-wabbitat-deluxe-rabbit-home/dp/183474
My leghorns can fit in there pretty comfortably so it should be plenty on room for a silkie. You will want to remove the ramp though to give her more space. You could also use a large dog crate, prefab coop, or ferret cage instead but i like the high sides of the Wabitat and its easy to clean, move, add perches, ect. You can also buy extensions for it which is nice. While she adjusts i suggest covering the sides and back of the cage so she feels safer. You can easily open the front of the cage and let her come and go supervised (so you can clean up after her) as you transition her to diaper wearing after she heals. Speaking of diapers- AVOID pamperyourpoultry diapers. I own a lot of these diapers in all sizes and id say they are a very poor choice for new house chicken owners and birds not used to being diapered. They have a lot of belly fabric which can put pressure on the crop and its easier for them to get their legs caught. They dont automatically have a waterproof liner and are not adjustable either not to mention the sizing is inconsistent.
My diaper recs are these Your silkie would be a small or an adjusted down medium with this seller. Very affordable and high quality.
This maker SPECIALIZES in seramas and silkies. You just need to tell them you have a silkie. These are great for training and are VERY comfortable for the bird due to having NO belly fabric.
Also the feed you choose will greatly impact the texture of your birds poop, the cheaper and lower quality the more wet and stinky it will be. Keep this in mind! The best feed for house birds is textured feed like Henhouse reserve in my opinion but plenty of house chickens are on normal crumble or pellets.

nct dream as your 80s trope!
as a lover of 80s/90s music, movies, and fashion, I felt the need to do something like this!
I probably will do, in the future, with 127 and maybe stray kids.
based on my favorite characters from 80s movies <3
Mark Lee
the boy who is in a band and also your chemistry classmate
he's a chill kid, never got in trouble, but his bandmates weren't that good people
got in detention and somehow you too
just you two at the library, reorganizing books by alphabetic order and by gender
when suddenly mark asks why you're there, very quietly and timidly
you say that you answered back a professor that didn't liked you and asked the same to mark
"Somehow, I got the smell of Marijuana on my shirt. They didn't believe that I didn't smoke, and here I am!"
time passed by and you and Mark started to going out, watching his performances and going to arcades also spending the entire night talking on the telephone, only to go to school and spend the entire morning talking and giggling too
eventually, you two got suspended (again) for laughing too loud.
and since then, you two started an incredible bound.
Huang Renjun
your favorite local bad boy even tho he's not bad at all
for some reason he loves all star and leather jacket
smells like mint and mango
except his straight face and the "I might kill you if I want" eyes, he's very sweet and gentle
is your seat mate in algorithms and helps you everytime when you have difficulty with something with a gently voice
and if needed, he will repeat it 100x until you understand it.
your small chats stays only at school, but as times pass by, he asks you to ride you home on his motorcycle or if you need help in any other classes
he's a good listener and gives good advices when you struggle with life
when the first mall inaugurated in your small city, he right away took you there and spent the entire day walking in and out the stores without buying anything except for some ice cream
you watched back to the future for the first time with him
Lee Jeno
the nerd one who is not that nerd
except the great ability he has in some classes and some geek t-shirt he uses (like Star Trek or spider-man). People call him nerd because of his looks and his round glasses
you step out for him during a bullying session and even punched the guy in the face, since then, jeno never left your side
and you kinda didn't want him to, you liked his presence
always reading a comic book or making up theories about the universe. might as well call you during the night saying "y/n, it's jeno! look outside your window, it's full moon!"
loves dracula and zombies theory
at some point, you got 10 magazines only about spider man without noticing
every single one belongs to jeno
likes to go to the park, sit on the grass, and read comic books to you
also into horror movies such as halloween and Scream
would rent a lot of horror movies to see during Friday after school and, at some point in the middle of the night, you two would sleep together on the couch
Lee Haechan
works on a local vinyl shop
eventually knows everything about music and can talk about it with you during hours
bon jovi? that's okay. Metallica? he knows everything about them, too. ABBA? great taste!
that's how you meet him. soft black hair with blond mullet, denim jeans, and black boot with a michael jackson t-shirt.
you went to his shop to buy a gift for a friend and haechan helped you choose madonna's true blue album
he truly loves his job and is always singing while walking on the store or organizing things
he often calls you to keep him company and you eventually started working with him
he has a lot of albuns on the palm of his hand but only didn't have thriller by Michael Jackson since it is the most album seller in the entire world
you gave it to him as a birthday present and haechan cried a little, hug you and whisperer a soft thank you
you two spend the entire day listening to the album, dancing and laughing
Na Jaemin
the popular one with the nice hair
I swear, he has great hair, and it even glows in the sun because of how hydrated it is
always says he uses Farrah Fawcett hair spray
even tho he's popular he's not the jerk one
he's very kind and likes to meet new people
that's how he meet you, the new student
he showed you around, who you can talk and who you can't mess with
and also offered to be with you during lunch breaks
has a great sense of style
always uses flannel shirts and all star shoes
at some point, you two became inseparable, and he kind of forgot the ones who only wanted to be with him because of his "fame"
would totally take you out in those roller rink and also late night talks to gossip !!!!
Zhong Chenle
also the famous one, but it's because he's on the basketball team and team captain
everyone thinks he's a jerk and full of himself but in reality he's just more reserved
but when he's with his real friends, he turns into a sunshine ball and laughs easily
meet you because he shot the basketball ball in your direction
since you worked at the school newspaper, he broke your camera
you started to avoid him because you were so mad at him but he bought you a new one and even better
that made a soft spot for him but you were still a little upset
so he asked you out so he can properly apologize
since then, he would be your muse
drive in dates!!!!!!!
and after the dates, he would take you to eat on McDonald's
Park Jisung
the skater boy who's always with his headphones on and walkman on his waist
is into rpg such as d&d and arcades
you meet him by accident at the arcade
you two wanted to play the same game, and jisung kind of just stopped on his track, gazing at you, and you starred back, both of you didn't know what to do
being the gentleman he is, he let you play first and discovered you were the one who broke his record on the game
"wow, you're so good at this", he would say eventually in a little whisperer but you heard him
he's too shy, so you probably would be the one to ask him to go on the arcades on a daily basis or after school
jisung would explain to you how d&d works with such enthusiasm that convince you to play with him
also would teach you how to skate
and if you fall into his arms, he would blush furiously
