What’s Common to England Lifting 2019 World Cup, Imtiaz Ali Movie and IIT Kanpur’s Ventilator Project?
When England lifted the ICC World Cup 2019 after a most thrilling final against New Zealand, the cup finally came home to the cradle of cricket forty-four years after its inception. It was a dramatic turnaround from the 2015 edition, when they had crashed out at group stage after losing to Bangladesh. The other side of Dhoni: When Captain Cool's temper flared up on field | Cricket News

The other side of Dhoni: When Captain Cool's temper flared up on field | Cricket News
Tumblr media
NEW DELHI: For the major part of his international career, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was a symbol of calmness on the field, someone who had it all figured out in his head even in the tensest of situations. But there were times when he let emotions get the better of him. One such moment comes to mind instantly, may be because it is a recent one that occurred during the IPL last year.
Dhoni, known for his humility as much as his special cricketing skills, literally “crossed the line” by entering the field of play during the game between CSK and Rajasthan Royals. It was the final over of the game with CSK needing 18 off it. Ben Stokes bowled a full toss and umpire Ulhas Gandhe called it a no-ball before backtracking on his decision. That led to an angry Dhoni walking on to the field of play and he was duly fined 50 per cent of his match fee for the outburst. Recalling the incident, umpire Gandhe did not have much to say. “All I can say is that due process was followed,” he told PTI. However, a former BCCI umpire was quick to add: “Both the umpire and Dhoni were wrong in that case”. Another incident that raised eyebrows was when Dhoni was seen pointing a finger towards umpire Billy Bowden during the CB series in Australia in 2012. The third umpire gave Mike Hussey out stumped but the replays showed his one foot was inside the crease. Realising the TV umpire’s goof-up, Bowden recalled Hussey as he was trudging back to the dressing room. The whole episode did not go down well with Dhoni, who showed his displeasure by pointing a finger towards the New Zealand umpire.
Tumblr media
There were also moments when he gave an earful to his teammates for committing a mistake or not paying attention to his advice and they ended up being caught on the stump mic. Not to forget the parade of players during a 2009 tour of England when he was clearly upset about reports of his rift with his then deputy Virender Sehwag. A curt statement emphasising team unity was read out by him. Batsman Manish Pandey was at the receiving end during a T20 in South Africa in 2018 when Dhoni, a master at stealing quick singles, abused him for not paying attention for his call for an extra run.

Pacer Mohammad Shami too was not spared during the 2014 tour of New Zealand. Ignoring Dhoni’s advice, Shami bowled a bouncer that went over the captain’s head for a boundary. “Mahi bhai ne mujhe thode se tight language mein bola, ‘Dekh beta, bohot log aaye mere saamne. Bohot log khel ke chale gaye jhut mat bol.’ (Mahi bhai told me sternly, ‘See, I’ve seen many cricketers come and go during my time. Don’t lie to me’),” Shami said in a recent Instagram chat. During a 2015 ODI in Bangladesh, Dhoni was fined 75 per cent of his match fee for pushing pacer Mustafizur Rahman out of his way while completing a quick single. Mustafizur too was penalised half of his match fee for coming in Dhoni’s way. Notwithstanding these odd incidents, Dhoni is hugely respected for the way he carried himself all these years. Whether it was interacting with the opposition, umpires and other match officials, he always came across as someone who had his feet firmly on the ground despite his lofty stature. Nitin Menon, who was recently promoted to the ICC elite panel of umpires, recalled his interactions with Dhoni. “I made my umpiring debut with an India-England T20 in Kanpur in 2017. India lost the game but Dhoni came to me and congratulated me, knowing it was my first game. He told me ‘you did well’. He did not have to do that but he did,” Menon told PTI. “During the travel between series, I never saw him in business class when he had the option. He used to sit in economy just like any of us. It did not matter to him. “Also, during our interactions on the field, before or after the game, he would often ask about the domestic players. Who was doing well, things like that,” Menon added.

The MHA has categorised six districts of Tripura as green zones and two districts as orange zones.

Barber shops, home delivery of non-essential items allowed in green and orange zones, clarifies MHA
A day after issuing fresh guidelines for the lockdown, the Ministry of Home Affairs clarified that barber shops and salons will be allowed to open in green and orange zones during the third phase of the lockdown beginning 4 May, besides sale of non-essential items by e-commerce platforms.
However, barber shops, saloons will continue to be prohibited in red zones and  e-commerce companies are allowed to sell only essential commodities in such areas, said the ministry.

Sale of liquor is allowed in non containment areas of green, orange and red zones through stand alone shops and not in malls or shopping complexes, it further clarified.
In liquor shops, customers will have to maintain minimum six feet distance from each other, and also ensure that not more than five persons are present at one time at the shop.
On allowing domestic maids to work in red zones, a home ministry official said the RWAs should take a call  regarding allowing the movement of outsiders. But health protocols have to be maintained by domestic helps as well as employers, and the responsibility lies with the person who employs maids in case of any mishaps.
According to the home ministry, travel by road (inter-state), rail and air and metro are banned across the country during the lockdown.
The home ministry, however, may give permission in special cases depending on the urgency.
According to ANI, the ministry added that in orange zones, inter-district  and intra-district plying of buses remains prohibited. Taxis and cab aggregators are allowed to ply, with a restriction of two passengers apart from the driver in each vehicle only.  Inter-district movement of private cars in such zones is allowed only for permitted activities, with maximum two passengers, besides the driver.

However, the problems faced by migrant workers continued to make it to the headlines with a migrant worker cycling from his workplace in Delhi to home in Bihar dying in UP's Saharanpur.
Dharamveer, along with a few other labourers, had started their journey from Delhi to Khagaria district in Bihar on bicycles on 28 April, PTI quotes police as saying.
"On Friday night, they halted on the Delhi-Lucknow highway in Shahjahanpur. When the condition of Dharamveer deteriorated, the labourers took him to the medical college where he was declared brought dead," said Circle Officer (city) Praveen Kumar.
In another case, 18 people, including 14 migrant labourers, were found to be travelling inside a cement mixer from Maharashtra to Uttar Pradesh. "During the routine check-up at Panth Piplai village, about 35 kilometres from Indore, we stopped a truck laden with a cement-mixer on suspicion. After opening the lid, we found 18 people inside," Traffic Police sub-inspector Amit Kumar Yadav told PTI.
Meanwhile, the Odisha government issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) for sending "guest workers" in the state to their home states by road or rail. The state government appointed nodal officers in charge of workers for different states and said the the prior approval of recipient states was necessary for sending back the stranded workers.
Modi holds review meeting on agricultural reforms, MSMEs
Prime Minister Narendra Modi  deliberated on ways to reform the agriculture sector with emphasis on agriculture marketing, access of farmers to institutional credit and freeing the sector of various restrictions with appropriate backing of laws.
The government has maintained that the country's farm sector is functioning smoothly despite the COVID-19 lockdown and there will not be much impact on its growth in the current fiscal, unlike other sectors.
The pros and cons of bio-technological developments in crops or enhancement of productivity and reduction in input costs was also deliberated, an official statement said.
Concessional credit flow to strengthen agriculture infrastructure, special Kisan Credit Card saturation drive for PM-Kisan beneficiaries and facilitating inter and intra-state trade of agriculture produce to ensure fairest return to farmers were some of the other important areas covered, the statement said.
Developing eNAM or the National Agriculture Market into a "platform of platforms" to enable e-commerce was one of the important topics of discussion on Saturday.
The prime minister also held a meeting to discuss ways to strengthen the MSME sector.

Full Body Massage in Kota: do you take care of your back?
DO YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR BACK?
Today, within this world of stress in which we are immersed, practically more than 60% of the treatments that are done in a therapy cabinet are focused on solving back problems.
This can give us an idea of how important it is for us, and the special interest we should have in keeping that area of our body free from injury. Improving our quality of life happens, irremediably, to solve these annoying and daily back pains.
Now, what can we do to improve it?
Postural correction, exercise ... today we have many alternatives at our disposal, but are they all equally beneficial to us? Of course not. That is why we are going to show you some very simple keys that will help you in the day to day:
·         Postural correction: The most important of all. It is the cornerstone of any back treatment. If we take into account that we spend most of the day away from home, subjected to various stimuli both physical and emotional and that in most of the times our postural hygiene is deficient. We should try to find the right position at all times. A bad postural alignment will lead us in a more or less brief time to an injury.

The correction of these postural habits should begin in childhood, as in most cases it is not so, the sooner we become aware of the importance of good postural hygiene before we will start the path of recovery or even prevention of pain.
·         Perform specific exercise focused on strengthening both the tonic muscles of the back and the famous "core abdominal", that muscular belt of the abdominal region so important and so forgotten in the training routines of many athletes. Hypopressive abdominal work and gentle stretching should not be missed in our daily sessions if we want to avoid excessive suffering of the lumbar area, which exponentially multiply the risk of injury in the area.
·         Avoid lifting weight from bad positions. The lifting of an object from the ground, translates into a mechanical lever that multiplies by almost ten the pressure that the vertebra undergoes in comparison to the raised weight. Always bend your knees keeping your back straight ensures a correct layout and will avoid extra suffering from the different vertebral segments involved in the action.
·         Although not physical, the emotional factor has a very important role in certain localized pains especially in the back. The primal fear of being attacked by the back translates into a haven for stress and its consequences. Many treatments have failed because the emotional factor has been kept aside by looking for the cause only on a physical plane. Trying to mitigate the impact of stress by changing small mental routines from cognitive psychology will not only provide a good emotional balance, but will also have a very positive influence on those back pains generated by it.
By following these small recommendations we will substantially improve those uncomfortable discomforts and in addition we will improve our quality of life.

Fitness hits the reset button: a deep dive into how outdoor workouts will look like in the post-lockdown world
New Post has been published on https://apzweb.com/fitness-hits-the-reset-button-a-deep-dive-into-how-outdoor-workouts-will-look-like-in-the-post-lockdown-world/
Fitness hits the reset button: a deep dive into how outdoor workouts will look like in the post-lockdown world
On May 1, Aiswarya Krishna Vadakkoot, a senior yoga instructor at Cure.fit, received a call informing her that she’d been laid off. Initially, she thought it was a prank call. “Who tells an employee to resign forcefully, especially after the company has assured you there will be no lay-offs?” The only choice the country head of the Bengaluru-based fitness start-up gave her: to continue working until May 31 or June 15. “When I wrote to them demanding an explanation, my official ID was deactivated. Our WhatsApp groups were also muted. No one is taking our calls now and I don’t know if I am still with the company,” she says.
The company, meanwhile, reported it has terminated 800 employees with two months’ severance pay. “In reality, close to 1,500 employees have been fired and we are getting only 15 days of pay. A decision like this, after advertising they donated ₹5 crore to the PM Cares Fund, is appalling,” she adds. Is the brand taking care of its clients any better? “They aren’t issuing refunds. You can pause your membership or switch over to virtual classes,” says Vadakkoot.
Get on the mat
Weekend’s poll on Instagram and Twitter showed that most people are working out at least a few times a week — 66% and 56% respectively. It is no surprise then that Google Trends revealed that the search term ‘home workout’ has had its biggest spike ever.
In India, ‘strength training’, ‘toning exercises’ and ‘home exercises’ are breakout topics — search terms that grew by more than 5,000%. What’s more interesting: they’ve been looked up the most in the Northeast, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and tier-2/3 cities such as Faridabad, Meerut, Kanpur and Patna.
Making the shift
Similar stories are popping up on social media. From gyms shutting shop — Chennai-based Rupesh P closed his two-year-old Peak Health Studio (with 100+ members) because he “cannot afford the rent; I hope to resume once the situation settles” — to behemoths like Gold’s Gym, with 700 locations worldwide, filing for bankruptcy protection.
But even as the industry is reeling, workouts are growing exponentially in popularity. Online sessions and virtual challenges are taking over newsfeeds. Who didn’t try the handstand dare kicked off by four-time Olympic gold medallist gymnast Simone Biles! Barbells are being replaced by bags stuffed with books and water bottles filled with sand. And the uber rich are buying Peloton Bikes and interactive at-home fitness systems like the full-length smart MIRROR, with its built-in personal trainer. Fitness influencers are also upping their game, devising new regimens that they are sharing freely on platforms like YouTube. Like Katrina Kaif’s trainer Yasmin Karachiwala. Her Chair Circuit, which targets the legs, butt and abs, has already crossed 20,000 views, and even found new fitness recruits when she did an exclusive session for HELLO! magazine.

So the best challenge at the moment is to get your online game right. Yes, even for out-of-work trainers. Shortly after Cure.fit’s news broke last week, Jitendra Chouksey, founder of digital fitness platform Fittr, posted a video on LinkedIn, reaching out to trainers. Calling the fitness industry “recession-proof”, he says, “Means may change, but fitness will always exist. So will the demand for related products and services. If anything, more people are moving towards adopting fitness the digital way.” As one of a handful of digital players in the country, they are experiencing an upsurge in memberships at the moment. His video has already nudged 500 people to apply to the community-driven start-up (they are looking to absorb around 300-500 trainers to start with).
Going digital
Even at Mumbai-based Fitternity, choosing to go digital has helped. With a robust network of 12,000-plus gyms and fitness studios across over 20 cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Bengaluru, Pune, etc, their new offerings this lockdown include FitternityLIVE (livestreaming interactive sessions), FitTV (video on demand), Personal Coaching, etc.
Jayam Vora, co-founder and COO, says with the shift in the perception of fitness as a “luxurious activity”, there has been an upsurge in the demand of digital fitness services during the lockdown. “Users from tier 2 and tier 3 cities can also access our platform now. Post the lockdown, we will have an option for people to take the gym’s virtual tour before signing up. That way, we can also inform them of safety measures at the particular studio.”
What about gyms?
Fittr operates on a ‘freemium’ model, wherein exercise videos, diet and training plans are available for free. Those who need an additional push can enrol with online coaches for their paid personalised programmes. “Our core offering is limited to nutrition and training, but we’re planning to allow coaches to start online training in martial arts, Zumba, dance and the like.” So, is the future of fitness digital? “Physical gyms will perish, both in the short and long term; that’s the cost of evolution. The future is virtual reality and augmented reality,” says Chouksey.
Of course, not everyone has such a polarising view. But what most people agree on is that concerns about social distancing, sanitised equipment and contact points in changing rooms need to be looked into. In the last two months, Talwalkars Inshape in Chennai lost approximately ₹1.5 crore. With seven branches operating with 148 employees, the lockdown has hit them hard, says AN Rajendran, the CEO. “Unless we reach a point where there are zero cases in the city, we cannot function.” With their app under development, virtual classes are not an option either. However, when it is up, Rajendran plans to “include a facility [on the app] where members can book their workout slots, thereby avoiding overcrowding. Masks and gloves will also be compulsory, and all machines will be sanitised after use”.

Virtual sessions
Meanwhile, functional training centres are adapting quickly. The Quad’s Virtual BootCamp (launched in April) hosts parallel sessions at the same time. “We run bodyweight- and kettlebell-based training plans,” says Arvind Ashok, co-founder of the popular city-based centre. “Both are programmed such that they can dovetail or work as individual training plans. Instead of looking at it as a replacement for our in-person classes, we’ve worked hard on making it a unique experience.” The virtual sessions will stay for the rest of the year and beyond. “Once the lockdown is lifted, we will phase things out. At the beginning, we’ll have only one batch per day, with no overlap. Our training locations are large open spaces and we can easily accommodate our batches with more than six feet between each student.”
A few kilometres away, at Arena HIT, Zoom classes and online workouts were launched almost as soon as the centre shut for lockdown. “We plan to continue the virtual sessions because we have many requests coming in; we’ve also received enquiries from people from other states,” says co-founder Ananth Viswanathan, adding that, going forward, though there will be takers for the digital experience, a majority will want the experience of working out together as a group.
But, we wonder, after hosting in-person group sessions for years, was making the virtual shift tough? New Delhi-based Sumaya Dalmia admits it was daunting. Known for her outdoor bootcamps, Pilates and group workouts under her brand, Sumaya, she says, “We’ve always been known as an offline brand, but the lockdown pushed us to strengthen our online game. We’ve remained connected with our members via Zoom and personal trainers are continuing their sessions virtually.”
Living room workouts
For trainers, in the meantime, building the right dynamic with clients is the challenge. “Right now, even coaches are learning a lot. One of the main problems we face is explaining why a client should do a certain exercise; it is easier to hand out [exercise] programmes in the gym,” laughs Mumbai-based celebrity trainer Praveen Tokas, who uses online platforms such as Zoom and Skype. “For example, each person is taught squats in a different manner. The camera is a limiting factor.” While Tokas feels that things may go back to how they were, he stresses that the current situation is quite testing psychologically. “Maybe before the lockdown, someone was used to heavyweight lifting and they can’t do that any more. People have had to adjust their goals — it’s a mental battle.”
While there are the obvious drawbacks of lack of physical connection, there are several advantages of virtual sessions too, especially in terms of flexibility, privacy and time efficiency. Another positive (despite the decline in total registrations this quarter), according to Ashok of The Quad, “is that we’re able to reconnect with many of our old students who moved to other cities/countries and can now train with us virtually”.
Future ready
Going forward, while most believe that people won’t stay away from gyms altogether, a hybrid approach — with virtual training and outdoor fitness — will be an appropriate solution for the post-Covid world. “The adoption of virtual training methods will definitely rise. What will be key is tracking progress and results and not just trying out workouts from different Instagram influencers,” says Ashok. “It comes down to getting help with goal-setting, adopting a hybrid and balanced approach to training and nutrition, and working with qualified coaches who can take the guesswork out and design sensible programmes, digital or not.”
Dalmia agrees. Impressed with how people have transplanted their routines to their homes, she believes the future will be a mix of offline and online. “I’ve started practising yoga virtually, with the Alo Yoga app, and I am loving it,” she says, adding that as long as clients understand the programmes they sign up for and how to periodise them, they will be fine. “Just because it is Insta-pretty, does not mean it is for you.”
Not just for influencers
Chennai-based Mansi Gandhi’s vinyasa flow yoga classes have seen students double over the last two months. Students are from Dubai, Bengaluru and Kottayam besides Chennai, with persistent enquiries from Warsaw and France.
It is a double-edged sword, says Gandhi, for as the geographical barriers are removed and students sign in from around the world, you are also competing with instructors globally. That said, students are loving the convenience and want to continue with online classes, and perhaps one physical class every two weeks.
For freelance instructors like Gandhi, the move to virtual classes also addresses the issue of finding rental space for a studio. Another observation is that people prefer a live class with feedback from instructors to a recorded class. Has the switch been easy for students? “The first class is often a disaster, as they are always adjusting the camera. But it’s smooth after that,” says Gandhi, whose last physical class was on March 13.
Meanwhile, in Bengaluru, Vadakkoot is taking note. She’s putting aside her disappointment with Cure.fit and is planning to start virtual classes. And there’s only one way to go — up.

It will likely be untimely to provide their names at this stage,” the NITI Aayog member stated. The Prime Minster’s Workplace (PMO) had requested the NITI Aayog to arrange a street map for “incentivising” home manufacturing of light-weight physique armours (bulletproof jackets). Reuters In line with authorities projections, greater than three lakh bulletproof jackets can be required by Indian armed forces, Saraswat stated, including that “based mostly on that, armed forces have already positioned order with non-public firms in India for manufacturing of bulletproof jackets”. Indian firms had been earlier procuring uncooked supplies for bulletproof jackets from the US and Europe. Now, most of them are being obtained from China resulting from decrease costs. The concept of producing light-weight physique armours in India was mooted because the bulletproof vests at the moment in use by the Indian forces are very heavy. Indian firms like Kanpur-based MKU and Tata Superior Supplies export physique armours to armed forces of many international locations.
