Story:

I’m not using Lily’s self review tvtropes to cover this. It’s disingenuous ego stroking at full blast.

We follow the highs and lows that are the “will they won’t they” relationship between the stated as sisters, Lily and her Gardevoir, G (yes that’s her fucking name). In a Sunday newspaper comic page esc structure. With bits and pieces of trivia and lore that rarely comes up if not to push and pull sympathy points for lilys self insert as she gets assaulted and violated in physical and mental ways. An arc being called “Violate” and later following the would be time span for gestation of a baby that would then become the labeled cryptid child.

I’m gonna be real there’s no point in reading it because the moment something big happens out of the blue there wasn’t a page missing to explain it which god fucking dammit Lily do I need to give you one of those brainframe sheets or outline templates if you decide to write a story? Because I’ll gladly provide them!

How do you consider yourself a fucking writer at all with your fundamental lack of care for lore and story like- for fucks sake woman it won’t kill you!

Okay I actually finished the episode this time and holy shit what a turnaround.

Now this episode isn't perfect, obviously, but to be honest it might be the best of Season 2's character writing. Millie ACTUALLY trying to sympathize with Blitzo and apologize while Blitzo actually tries to get his shit together is just perfect.

It feels SO GOOD to actually have someone in this fucking show who doesn't treat Blitzo like complete shit while also not sucking up to him. Blitzo's self destructive episode is obnoxious and harmful and he is doing damage to the people around him, but he's also deeply, deeply wounded and Millie is mature enough to see that and give him support while also not downplaying what he's doing.

Yes Blitzo is absolutely stepping out of line, but Millie can see WHY he's behaving like that. She can relate to Blitzo because she's also had feelings on inadequacy and she gives Blitzo the support he's always given to her.

Legitimately if you told me that scene and the scene in Full Moon with Stolas were written by the same people, I wouldn't believe you. THIS is how you show Blitzo's bad actions as a response to his emotional trauma hurting people, NOT like that shit in Full Moon where he turns down the love proposal from the privileged asshole that's been sexually harassing him for the entirety of their relationship and can't take no for a fucking answer.

alrighty so as of now ive officially completed reborn!!!! postgame and all in one big pile. Specifically Lin Determination Route! this post is just a giant review of what i thought and felt throughout about the whole thing. i do want to say as a big summary that i had an overall very very positive experience with this game, and rllly rllllllly appreciate the effort put into this game's everything. it has a ton of heart in it, and i think thats wonderful. This is probably one of the most fun experiences I had playing pokemon tbh. here is my main team overall!

that being said this review Will include complaints because i do have them. and the fact that this is very opinionated, i am not a professional and may have missed a thing or two. so this is a disclaimer here. ok? alrighty.

reborn huh? lets sort it out into categories.

story: alrighty lets kind of get into this. I think the story in itself is rlly. super inflated. And i do think its due to the rapid rapid turnarounds with certain characters, or some jumpcuts in tone. now i do understand this game originated because of an online league and people roleplaying this out, so it being stitched together im not too tilted from this. But it does bug me at times here and there. and sometiems the exposition dumps get me. I did not need 5 minutes of Radomus explaining his whole story for like 5-8 minutes after the glass factory gauntlet in one place. With little to no buildup. that irked me a ton. On the positives, i also think that the super inflation does leave to some crazy shit happening to the point where you can kind of say "yeah ok sure what the hell" and go on with it. not everything needs an explanation. I did rllllly enjoy certain arcs though, from the orphanage breakout to the labradorra tournament. Titania and Amaria amazed me to bits and pieces i loved that storyline. Glass factory gauntlet went crazy and i rlly liked the pacing on shelly's development to try to gain more confidence.

Characters: One thing i super loved is the distinctiveness of each character presented in this story. I rlllly loved how easy it was to distinguish the other by the way they speak or respond, and how much character that gives them. But i will say some things that rlly itch at me is some of the emptyness some of them have. i feel that some of them suffer greatly from the fact that there are So Many Featured characters, even with how huge this game is, there's not rlly development in places where they should be. this gripe particularly goes to Bennett. His switch was so drastic to me that i felt like honestly there was smth missing. like i skipped from beginning to end there. i felt like i was kind of being shoved that in this weird gap of time where he was with elias that he suddenly came to some sort of epiphany of how he acted off-screen. some of the character growth is also kind of spitten at me too if that makes sense, like they have to physically tell me how they've changed, rather than doing a demonstration of how they changed from start to finish in the first place. that irked me in some areas here and there. the focus was kind of all over the place. however. postgame did do some favors to giving some characters the limelight they needed. Alistasia im staring at you i hope you never change. and giving a little extra wiggle room to others to conclude their own arcs (florinia, Cain, etc.)

Battles: holy shit i love the battling here. This game has the (imo) most organic battles of the rebornverse games and its soooo much fun figuring out ways to knock them off their horses. In many main battles there's often a gimmick that goes with the character you're battling which I thought was super clever on its own, like Taka's sun team (an eruption of feelings and actual desire) when he got revived. i thought that was fun as hell. or Craudberry's team with the aim to get flower garden up to lvl 5 by the end of the battle? amazing. i rlly have nothing bad to say about the battling, its tough, its awful with pulse 252 but its not impossible, and crackable. it was the highlight of the series to me. however i did admittedly cheese a few. no shame in my bones though i love cheese.

Mapping/Region: oh i love a Big Navigable City. and i also love changing maps. so you can bet i enjoyed that reborn city renovation. Honestly not much else to say here, it was generally rlly cool.

Game Progression: Honestly i just used a guide for the puzzles because im not a puzzle guy, i would honestly have been stuck at a part forever. no shame in that. so for that im not rlly going to include that in this Opinion Review. i do enjoy how complex it is though, i know some puzzle lovers would love to crack into this game. i do think the tm pacing and move tutor availabilities are super super fair, its not enough to give you an advantage completely but enough to make sure that there Is an out if you know what to do.

Some musings abt the soon to be Precure season

So i took a look at the new website and bruhhh

they're so tacky looking and cute I love them! I'd actually gotten spoiled for Cure Wonderful and Cure Nyami's designs thanks to fanart on pixiv, and at the time I thought the season was going to have an Alice and Wonderland motif thanks to Wonderful's crown [thought she was gonna be like the queen of hearts but nope]. After checking out the website and trailer tho, it seems like the theme is more of a zoo and or animal companion theme. When I first realized that I thought to myself "wait haven't we been here before?" but thinking about it further Healing Good's theme was more along the lines of veterinarians and the earth[?] and Kira Kira Precure's was moreso just animals as window dressing/attack inspo with sweets being the main theme so I suppose we're not technically retreading old ground here. Speaking of not retreading old ground- HOLY SHIT THE MAIN CURE IS A DOG??

Just like...a full on dog dog bruh, like dang man I never thought i'd see the day where we'd essentially get a fairy leading the team. It seems like the team's split into both humans and animals, with Cure Nyami definitely being that white cat

This is exciting! I love that Precure's held onto having fairies transform into humans, it's so heckin fun! Back to the designs- In order of my favorite to least favorite it's Cure Nyami [look at that hair bruh! she is beauty, she is grace]

Cure Wonderful [she looks like such a peppy kid awwww]

and lastly Cure Lillian [her arm thingies remind me of Futari Wa and I adore that ribbon]

Honestly, I think this may be the first time since Kira Kira Precure that I've been immediately on board with the designs. I ended up loving Hirogaru's over time but at first glance, I couldn't get over how weird they looked [never fully ended up liking Cure Wing's design but still love the character]. The only thing I dislike about them is Lillian's headband, and the big heart on Friend's shoes. I'm sort of a big sucker for poofy/frilly skirts, long straight hair, and ponchos so I feel well-fed. I'm especially looking forward to seeing them all in motion, especially Lillian since based on her turnaround she seems to have a bit of sass to her. Based on Nyami's turnarounds/previews she seems to be more of a kuudere[?] type which isn't something we've gotten for a main cure in a while. There's also all of these guys just hangin' out on the site too

Can't wait to see what these lil guys can do, hoping that they'll be connected to powerups and maybe even special outfits/attacks [really enjoyed it when Happiness Charge did that]. But maaaan this is so cool. It seems like ever since Hirogaru decided to play around with Precure conventions they're going all out with unique approaches to the formula. One thing I hope they continue doing this season tho, is keeping the fighting style as a literal fighting style like super sentai where they actually throw punches. I love Kira Kira, but there's only so many times [like 2] that I can watch someone fight by pointing a wand at something before I start skipping the battles. Really loved how Hirogaru frequently would have the characters strategize in battle, it really kept me engaged even if I always know how it'll end. All-in-all, it's sad to see Hirogaru go, but I'm excited with what new stories await in the new season! ^^

Gary got me. Pia, he got me, I cried like a baby over that scene. This was the moment so much of his shitty behavior in the past made sense to me. Now I just want him to get cuddles and a happy ending. How do you do this???

I love that turnaround moment so much. I love reframing a character's actions without forgiving them, so that people can go back and reread (if they want) and feel the weight of those actions with the added knowledge of what was behind them and feel out for themselves what it all means to them. I love the moment someone is like 'oh no he needs a hug' after like 'can we smack him tho' dslakfjsa

There's something about adding layers to a character, where it's like...the first layers are mostly just one flavour with hints of something else. That flavour might make you think the character is 'good' or 'bad.' In the case of Gavril in The Golden Age that Never Was, a lot of people initially liked the 'sweet' flavour he came across with, and over time I 'spoiled' it, adding more layers. (I like also making a character that previously seemed amazing, really awful sdalfkjas).

But I love just...adding the layers, and one day you get a layer and you're like 'holy shit I thought this was X but it's actually Y, and X is just on the surface, or only a small part of it.' I feel like sometimes that's how we get to know people. We see the layers they want us to see, but there's other layers there.

Ngl I live for these moments. I never know exactly when they're going to happen, either. Like a lot of people have already had their 'moment' where they've come around to Gary, and for others it might wait until nearly the end of the story. Some people are ready to embrace and love an asshat, and others hold back, with much more grudging approval, and others never come around (some folks will just always hate the Raven Prince no matter what, for example, and I'm sure the same will happen for Gary).

It makes writing serials so exciting and dynamic to me. And it makes it so much fun, in the sense that like, I feel like I get to share something about a character like a secret, and people see that secret and it's like 'OH I get why that thing was hidden but ALSO it changes a lot and recontextualises this person.' You get to know them not as they wish to be perceived - which is how they come across initially - but as *who they actually are* - which is different for everyone.

my supernatural rewatch reviews: season 2

jk i did season 2 tonight also. personally i'd consider this one of my favorite seasons, but it's only #3 out of the kripke based on ratings. again this falls victim to having some amazing episodes sandwiched by duds. my least favorite episode was probably Everybody Loves a Clown with a score of 5 for pretty obvious reasons, although I do like establishing Sam's fear of clowns. that's good. my most favorite episode was In My Time of Dying, this has gotta be like a top 5 for the whole show for me. average rating was 7.23!

03 Bloodlust HUGE DEANEPISODE!!!!!!! Hating on Dad episode! Dean actually does not want to be a hunter for the rest of his life! Dean critiques dad and Sam defends him so that’s a fun lil turnaround. 06 No Exit I feel like I should’ve enjoyed this more but I was doing abstract algebra notes while I was watching so that didn’t help. Joepisode. I love her so much. I think they could’ve done so much more with Jo and Dean’s relationship. This was literally Jo and Dean fake dating and they did NOTHING about it. None!!!!!!!!! Tragedy. Idk plot was boring and it felt very much like it was on a little mini set, no interaction with the outside world. Boohoo. So much potential wasted. —5

09 Croatoan Honestly they missed a lot with the plot. It felt very much like a scapegoat plot so they could just make Sam and Dean talk about their problems. It could’ve been way more interesting and interactive with the real world, but instead felt isolated and superficial. Boohoo. That said, many amazing moments still give it a lot of points. I’m gonna say this one time, you make a move on him and you’ll be dead before you hit the ground, do you understand me, do I make myself CLEAR?! You got a neighbor named Mr. Rogers? Not anymore. —9

11 Playthings Plot was integrated AMAZING into this episode, it felt very rooted in the plot and real consequences in the real world, but still managed to address a lot of Sam and Dean issues! Haunted house! Scooby Doo reference. Drunk Sam king of appropriate and logical transitions. Dean says MILF on screen. —7

12 Nightshifter Boys suffer legal consequences for their actions again. I was very stressed, thought the shifter was gonna be Sam or Dean the whole episode. Fun but no standouts in my head, but I was doing homework while watching so there’s that. —7

13 Houses of the Holy Dean listening to “led zeplin- kashmir” while we listen to Nazareth “Hair of the Dog” implications. Dean keeps talking about how he doesn’t believe in angels bbgorl just you wait. Just You Wait. Unfortunately I was overall a bit bored by the actual episode but I was also very distracted by the Zeppelin thing it is still bothering me. —6

WHAT idk if this is up to date but i saw comm prices you posted in the summer and are those prices real?? it says a piece like the one in charlie's pinned (b'elanna's three weed smoking girlfriends) would cost 40$?? possibly even australian dollars which would bring it to only 24€????? what!?!?! you are severely underpriced, i would've guesstimated that piece to be like 80€ or 100usd (which i'm aware is more but i usually expect slightly higher rates from usians since they have a higher cost of living esp if they have health problems which so many on tumblr do) and you're telling me it's twenty four euros??? if i were not literally struggling to buy groceries without accruing further debt rn, i would pounce holy shit

so first and foremost, THANK YOU for saying nice things about my work!! i really hope ur financial situation improves soon too, i know how much of a struggle it is

and also... it took me so long to answer bcuz i was overthinking it. as per usual. feel free to skip the below though lol

so i really wish i could say something about how i really considered the Artistic Worth(tm) of my work when pricing it, but, well... my main actual consideration was, how low could I go without making it just a total waste of my time? fact is, the two main factors in pricing for me are:

1- i work full time, so any artistic work cuts into my free time... which i'm kind of reluctant to give up... haha!!

2- we are on tumblr. this is the only website where i really have an audience, and it's the donation post website. (to be clear, no hate to donation posts- emergency comms are just donation posts for people who can't accept money without offering something in return even if they would be better off not doing that).

so factor 1 pulls the price up, because i can't be dragged away from my precious sitting around doing nothing time without a financial incentive, and factor 2 pulls it down, because receiving small amounts of money is still better than receiving no money at all, especially in times of financial distress.

on the subject of financial distress, though, i will admit i'm thinking of opening them again- dental work and car work aren't free SADLY, and there's a lot of that going on in my life right now. the only reason i haven't already is that it hasn't hit the point where i need money that i don't have RIGHT NOW, which was the case the time my old job screwed me right before rent was due and the time i turned out to owe the government taxes. is what it is!

final note- another factor, which is secondary to the other two but still influences my decisions somewhat- i'm fast. this is an adhd cliche, i know, but my 1-4 week turnaround time consists mostly of... trying to get myself to work! since you mentioned charlie's pinned, i might as well be real with you and say that was probably only about 2-3ish hours of actually working. i've streamlined my process down a lot over the years, because if i don't get things finished in one sitting it's very, VERY hard for me to finish them at all... so speed is key. At a rate like that, you're looking at between $13-$20/hr, which is a decent enough tradeoff that i feel it's worth it.

I can understand this. At my last job we went from a manager who was very organized, on top of things, and had a very clear vision. Yes, I think at times she was too stagnant and veered into micromanaging, but given the situation I also understand why she did some of the things she did. Cut to her leaving and her replacement is the polar opposite and I took on our marketing position. Holy shit. When people no longer had someone “keeping them in line” (I know, a totally ugly phrase, I’m sorry), they just took full advantage and were lazy and did whatever they wanted. My job depended on other people doing their job so it was a nightmare. I finally snapped and put my foot down and literally wrote up guidelines on how to work with my position (ex. I leave at 3:30 for the day, do not Teams me at 3:28 asking me a question that you know is going to take 15 minutes to answer, stop sending me stuff and expecting a turnaround time of less than a day when I have other things to do).

Yeah, I got looked at as a bitch. I was sad about leaving the position, not sad about leaving the bullshit that surrounded it behind.
