You know those specific pieces of media you consume that urges you to create something so profound too? That's what reading Unrecorded Hours for me feels like. It made me want to write after reading it for the first time, unknowingly making it the second fic of the hundreds I read in this fandom after Peeta's Games because of course I'm still hungry for more post!mj content after reading a trilogy in Peeta's POV lol.

I honestly don't know how I can curate exact words that can describe this masterpiece of a one shot because it's just gah. It's raw and sweet and angst. It's the classic growing back together fic after MJ. I tried to make a venn diagram to compare this with The List (another amazing gbt fic) and one difference that makes them stand out together is UH resonates Katniss' grief and The List manifests Peeta's.

Katniss' uncertainties and insecurities are told in a very raw way in the sense that the structure recognizes she is still a child. A wounded one. Her stubborness and unfiltered anger by and for the events that took place targeted Peeta in the first few scenes and that alone is such a realistic take. And gah, the tub scene with her singing? so, so raw and beautiful.

Just look at this excerpt!

She loves him because he's saving her now, every day, with a kind of sustenance that she couldn't have anticipated needing when she was a starving girl in the rain.

I don't want to spoil anymore so I'll stop here. It's a classic. It's peaceful. The ending is the right amount of inclusivity before the canon epilogue. It's a fic that should be passed along in this fandom for those new here as an initiation rite of some sort lol. Get to reading it, people!🤺🤺

Reading Herbert Garrison’s Night School for Unwed Fathers and oh my god Stan <3 he’s just such a good boy and every time I read this fic I cry in chapter 9 at “They were fifteen miles through the blizzard, and everyone was still safe in Stan's pocket.” Just a beautiful story and I’m never gonna stop being emotional about it

Okay fr what did u mean by the south park x great gatsby fic what's it about WHERE DO I FIND IT I have so many questions unanswered

so there may very well be more than one great gatsby-inspired south park fics, but the one that I was referencing was 'nothing sacred' by hollycomb! it essentially replaces the characters of great gatsby with the south park cast, and modifies the plot to reflect this shift in dynamics. much like the original narrative, it's absolutely miserable from start to finish :) the writing style is also magnificent, and reminiscent of fitzgerald's own tone. truly a treat to read.

I will give a small disclaimer that I have not read it in years, and cannot remember the actual details of the plot well enough to give content warnings myself. please be mindful of the tags and maturity rating and keep yourselves safe. for anyone who does decide to read it, lemme know!! I love talking fic with folks :]

I grew up with her fanfics for five years, really. I read other people too but they can’t influence me the same way.

Does anyone else have a fic that permanently altered their brain chemistry? Because no South Park fic has hurt me more than It's Hard to Know They're Out There by hollycomb. Genuinely the most gut-wrenching thing I've ever read and reread good lord.

I REGULARLY think about the dorm room scene in The Scenic Route and how impactful that argument was. I’d die to direct that scene in particular onstage it’s just… so dynamic and resonant.

I think the one buttman hollycomb fic where they have a baby bc stan and kyle managed to have one is absolutely hysterical as its own concept but the fact that the baby is named SEPHORA makes it astronomically better
