Saying this as an Irish person since the new Hozier album just came out and there are lyrics in Irish; it’s Irish or Gaeilge (pronounced “gwhale-ga” or “gale-ga” depending on region), not Gaelic or Celtic or any other name people come up with.

It’s just a normal language that people speak in their everyday life. We learn it in school in the republic. People like myself are bilingual in Irish and English. It’s not a “fairy aesthetic cottage core leprechaun” language.

Please respect it. Our language is a touchy subject seen as how England tried to erase it by forcing English on us and severely punishing those who spoke Irish.

At the same time that does NOT mean it is a dead language. Our (in the republic) road and safety signs are in both Irish and English, same with legal documents. Our politicians speak it, and we are trying to preserve the language!

welsknight fanon v canon : aka the funniest contrast ive ever seen from fanon v canon.

heres the textless version and some thoughts

the contrast between canon and fanon with welsknight is so funny to me. every single fanon piece (usually writing but sometimes art) i see of him hes so knightly and goody two shoes and like. posh?? and then i watch his videos and he puts a bridge on hypnos front lawn without asking for permission. he made a secret tunnel between him and hypnos storage rooms for shits and giggles. hes doing an old man impression of kids these days with their gadgets and he brings up papyrus paper of all things. he gives off such mischevious little man vibes and he is at best a knight wannabe but realistically seems to be just be in it for the aesthetics and fandom takes it all way too seriously. its hilarious and i genuinely cant take any fanon depiction of him being all knightly and pretentious without thinking of the fact that he spent so much on mangrove to line the secret tunnel between him and hypnos storage rooms which he built without telling hypno. peak smug cat meme vibes

anyway uhhh tldr welsknight is not a knight that armour is made of foam and its hilarious how seriously the fandom takes him. send post

i used to be friends with this person who had a discord server for their art and such and they had one of those five mile long blacklists that ANYONE could add to which is so stupid for so many reasons (it was a public discord, someone could just ask to add something to the list and leave, if you cant handle steven universe being mentioned maybe thats a you problem, etc)

and i made fun of this heavily to my other friends, right? so one of my friends asked to have pictures of forks added to the blacklist and lo and behold, it was

i do understand wanting to make sure people are comfortable, but it was SO clear that people were adding things that made them mildly uncomfortable and things they just didnt like for whatever reason rather than things that are triggering to them (there were normal things too like needles and such, which is more understandable but still kind of weird for a public server)

i think back on that as one of the most online braindead things ive ever seen
