I ADORE Holey so i want to make this very clear but honestly it would have been incredible to get a menacing, dangerous and creepy version of Holey. it would have added so much weight compared to a cute silly Holey (cute and silly are the exact words im using.)

I mean this whole sacrifice part , it's giving me Holey calling for sorcerer sacrifices and its just so eerie and twisted , it would have had me SO hyped if we got that sort of antagonist in the end

not that i mean holey's silly bit isnt cute but between fun and cute and menacing, creepy and serious , cant help it for wishing that the latter

Dorohedoro spoilers

I finally figured out the timeline and a re-read of the manga made everything click last night! I had been pretty confused overall so if anyone else was here's a bit of an explanation even if it's a bit everywhere. This is probably obvious to most people but it's what I've finally got. Spoilers below!

So, basically, we learn at the very end that Ai/Aikawa/Kai/Caiman whatever you want to call them, has the ability to revive itself due to the amount of "heads" or something, but basically, even after they are killed they can come back only equal to the amount of heads they have. Throughout the series, we still Caiman/Aikawa/Kai/Ai die a bunch of times, Caiman dies because of Shin, Aikawa kills himself, En kills Caiman/Aikawa, En killed Kai, etc. etc. and by the time The Entity, Holey is formed there are only so many "heads" or lives left. Which allows for Risu/Curse to kill Ai's head and stop the original body (Not revived/second Caiman) even if it doesn't stop Holey.

But basically, Caiman, due to Ebisu's magic, was the healed version of Kai that went through the door to the hole, during the revive Ebisu's magic interfered creating yet another personality, Caiman. Preventing both Aikawa and Kai from coming out, even if his personality was more like Aikawa's. When Ebisu was killed, and the magic wears off of Caiman, turning him back to Aikawa briefly before En kills him, it allows for another death and revive to occur, another head cut off so to speak. The reason why Kai wasn't around for the cross-eyes was because he was stuck in Caiman. So when Caiman dies, Ebisu's magic going away and killing specifically Caiman, it allows for Aikawa and Kai to be back, struggling for that control over their shared body. When Aikawa saves Asu or Kawajiri and is transported to En's mansion with him, he gets a migrane, which we have learned is what mean Kai is taking control. Which is how Kai killed En because Kawajiri had taken Aikawa there and Kai took control. So my current time-line from my understanding,

Ai gets infused with the spirit of Hole from the lake and eventually "dies" from it

His body is resurrected by the spirit of Hole and the humans killed, and basically splits into Aikawa (who I assume is just an adult version of Ai) and Kai

During this time Aikawa and Kai fight over control of the body, Aikawa does his best to keep Kai from doing horrible things and Kai leads the cross-eyes, however accidentally or purpose it might have been

Kai kills Risu and get curse placed on him, but before curse can find him, Kai and En have that fight, where En is able to kill another head of Kai/Aikawa/Ai but the body is able to go through a door to the hole.

Ebisu's magic gets on the body so instead of regrowing a Aikawa/Kai head, it turns into Caiman, a new personality entirely and trapping Risu/Curse inside of him unable to finish the job

Thus starting Caiman's new life in Hole and searching for who did this to him

Then when Ebisu is killed awhile into the story later, at the same time that En is fighting Caiman and Nikaido which allows for Aikawa to come back, and therefore when he dies, allowing for the cycle of Aikawa-Kai to continue.

When it's finally at the end, where Kai becomes a devil (of sorts) allowing for Holey to become a reality, Risu kills the last head, Ai, and finally ends the Aikawa/Kai struggle, but it doesn't matter as Holey is now a reality, but the original body of Aikawa/Kai is dead and only the second Caiman remains of them And thus is my time-line of events regarding the body of Ai Coleman. I'm sure this was obvious to most Manga readers, however since I went through the manga so quickly I wasn't really able to grasp this right away and now re-reading and having the information I have now I am able to conclude the time line! Hope this helps to anyone else who wasn't able to grasp it!

And then our gyoza-helmeted, recently turned sorcerer goes to fight his mortal or possibly immortal enemy.

Kinda scary here. 

But how about here? (Holey is the nickname Chidaruma has given to the pourous and expulsive blob above. Who is also kinda Caiman/Kaiman, who is also...anyway, y’know if y’know, otherwise give it a read. Ah, just got the possible holy/holey reference.

That’s Kaiman’s arse hanging out of Holey’s mouth, btw. Chidaruma still has his gyoza helmet.

Chidaruma's Magic Door (going full meta again)

I find it so interesting that we've seen so many elaborate magic doors in dorohedoro (this including the devils', like Haru and GuraGura, and Holey's) and yet Chidaruma's is so plain.

It's a standard, simple, plain door - Literally no personality to it whatsover.

And Hayashida has dropped her SWEAT over these magic door designs, so theres no way at Volume 19-20 she decided to get lazy with Chidaruma's.

we know the magic doors in drhdr represent some sort of aspect of the character, and my understanding by looking at the diff doors is that it's varied, and can be anything from identity, aesthetic, past, future, to inner psyche etc etc

So I am just trying to wreck my brain here as to what it would mean if Chidaruma's door is entirely plain. He definitely has a personality, it would be stupid to say that's the reason, and I've never sensed a lack of identity from him.

The only thing that comes to mind is perhaps that is a reflection of his inner world/psyche? That he's empty/blank inside? I think he's great in many ways but i do see him as a sort of 'shell of a person' personally

Given Chidaruma's shown using Doors this early own, it must be that this is a 'skill' he passed onto sorcerers upon creating them --- Which makes me just wonder where the hell did he get the idea of a 'door' as a portal????

Not that it doesnt work (love the idea, thanks Hayashida xx) , but my lorefinding-obsessed brain just wants to know where the idea came from. .

my personal HC is that it relates to Black House. Bear with me as I have very little to none ground for this, but we know as per canon that (1) Black House is Chidaruma's house and (2) Black House is very affectionate of Chidaruma --- I also view BH as an independent entity that wasn't created by Chidaruma, so in my head Chidaruma and BH go waayyyy back

I like the idea that BH became and was Chidaruma's home since the beginning of time and BH's door inspired the whole door mechanism ; this could also explain why Chidaruma's own door is very plain (like houses is)

Cause also! pretty sure BH can just teleport right?? (aside from just 'cruising') so from Chidaruma's perspective, each time BH's door opened he was basically in a new location, so you see the parallel there???

But ALSOOOO !! (going off the rails here) - One of BH's wishes is that he(?) can transform at will , which to me indicates that the appearance of a 'black house' is somewhat imposed by Chidaruma , who's also been shown to direct BH's internal appearance on a whim (slightly going on a tangent here) ;

so i think Black House's appearance is something Chidaruma desires, which would sort of suggest he likes this appearance and thus could colerate with the design of these 'portals' called 'doors'.

but i am also just gripping at straws here, but i really like this HC ; I am so inherently obsessed with anything Chidaruma/Black House/Store and everything eldritch like that in dorohedoro

Hopefully with Dai Dark happening we can learn a bit more abou Black House x Chidaruma weooo

House 🖤 in Dai Dark

I always had this HC that House loved Chidaruma , just based off little things here and there and my overthinking, then the highlight of last month for me was translating the Dorohedoro directory and seeing this in House's 'pie chart of the heart':

'I love Chidaruma' - HOW fucking CUTE ; I seriously cant ///////

Can't believe I was also right about that (its not like i had any actual reason to believe that anyways tbh...)

That being said, got me thinking a lot about Dai Dark and Damemaru Cause House was sorta important to the magic world, and yet we find House with Damemaru - so there are two possibilities:

Either the Magic World is no more so House found and settled with Damemaru

Or, House didnt want to 'abandon' Chidaruma, aka Damemaru, so he abandoned the Devils/Magic world instead and followed Damemaru (my fav option cause its cute<3)

We technically don't know for how long Damemaru has had his 'spaceship' anyways, so that's why I think both could go.

Either way we know that Chidaruma views House as 'his house', and I don't think Hayashida randomly had Chidaruma turn serious against Holey in that one moment - He didnt give a shit i mean until Holey started wrecking House, so there is a sense of property or form of bond there.

And then we know that as per canon House loves Chidaruma, so there you go.

Whatever the case may be, I am very excited for the next chapters - Damemaru also saw House as an 'operating' system so have no clue what that meant? And how could he tell that it was 'running'? (telepathy again?)

I just figured that a science-y guy like Damemaru would surely be able to tell the difference between operating system and whatever the hell House is.

I guess this could give another alternative possibility where this house, aka the spaceship is not actually Black House, but something built by Damemaru that resembles Black House, and sort of Hayashida hinting at his memory as Chidaruma?

Frankly I don't think that's the case though - it sounds far fetched, and either way, there's also this panel from chapter 50 :

Like this is definitely acknowledging House's insane transformative abilities so I genuinely doubt what we see in Dai Dark is Damemaru's creation.

Anyways yeah!!

This was supposed to be a quick post to shoutout House being cute but I guess I can't stop talking (i near cried at work today so need to blow off steam ok)

I hope we get some views and insight on the 'spaceship' in chapter 52 acckkk I really need more.

I hope Hayashida doesnt follow the usual process I've seen in other series where we move onto the 'next arc' and revisit the topic 50 chapters later or ill die
