Seperating the Work from the Author

I love how there are Harry Potter Fans, who don't want to think about any of the stuff that JK has done or said, simply stating "Just seperate the art from the artist" and things along those lines so that they can go on and keep enjoying Harry Potter without ever needing to question whether or not they should maybe move on to something else. But as soon as you criticize JK in any way that isn't related to her work directly (like how she keeps digging that holeon the whole trans debate or how she uses the name of a Conversion Therapist as a pen name for her crime books), you will have dozens of PotterHeads run up to you and tell you all about how it's not cool to hate on Harry Potter like that or that they grew up with that series and that they can't stand people making fun of it. Not once did anyone mention the quality of Harry Potter or anything along those lines, but because JK and Harry Potter are so closely linked to each other, any form of criticism on JK will be seen as a critique on Harry Potter itself. If you feel the need to get upset at someone and defend Harry Potter and you being a fan of it, because that person said something about JK, you can't use the argument of seperating the Art from the Artist. Of course there are many other reasons that you can name for why continuing to pretend that consuming more Harry Potter is completely fine because you don't agree with JK (who is spending a lot of time, money and her platform to actively make the lives of trans people worse), isn't really the best option, but I just thought that the behaviour of PotterHeads who don't want to think about JK in response to when someone criticizes JK exclusively, rather funny. tl;dr A lot of Potterheads love to say that you should seperate Harry Potter from JK, but act like Harry Potter is being attacked if you criticize JK Rowling

Dumbledore hated mysteries, and Hope Potter certainly was one and had been from the moment she’d stepped foot in Hogwarts. She’d been wearing travel-worn denim and charms hanging from her throat. She looked more Greek than James or Lily ever had, and there’d been a flintlock pistol at her side. And she had a healthy distrust of authority.

She had a guardian, technically, a woman named Medee de Grammont, but Dumbledore didn’t think she counted really, because half the time Medee didn’t even know where Hope was.

“She’s called the Nomad for a reason,” Medee had arched an eyebrow. “She’s nomadic.”

“She’s thirteen.”

“She isn’t my child, I can’t force her into a cupboard under the stairs and restrict her food whenever I so please.” The jibe had hurt. “Besides, Leon isn’t ever far from her side.”

All she did was smile.

The first time Hope realized she was into Leon de Grammont was when she knew she was fucked, but gods damn...

“Thought you were somewhere in the Pacific Ocean,” she said, kicking over a smoking ruin of a body.

“Thought you were somewhere in Greece,” he returned, teeth bared, “need some help?”

“I think I’ve got this covered,” she tried to walk past him but he snagged her hip to pull her to him.

They’d been friends for a long time, long enough that Hope remembered before when he’d chosen Leon as his name, long enough that they’d both seen the natural trajectory to where they were now.

“Ask me to stay,” he leaned in close and Hope was suddenly aware that her arms were as wound around him as his were around her.

“Now, that,” Hope struggled, “is just asking for trouble.”

“I’m better company than Hedwig,” Leon promised.

Hope’s raven cawed in indignation.

“Are you, though?” Hope teased.

“Potter, I will fuck you up,” Leon promised.

“You’ve been saying that for years,” Hope said before dragging him down for a kiss that threw him off just enough that when she pushed him, he fell. “Now, where was that trail...keep up, mon âme, I’d hate for you to get left behind!”

“What the fuck!” Leon complained loudly from the ground.

Woman Found In Mining Hole

On Friday 22 April in Norberg, Sweden, a woman was found in a mining hole in the woods by a man and his two children. The man had heard screams coming from the hole and soon discovered the woman down there. On 25 April, a suspect was arrested. He is suspected of raping the woman and throwing her into the hole. According to some sources, the man had previously proposed to the woman, but she had rejected him.

Not much is known about the woman, except that she was extremely cold when she was finally rescued, and she had injuries to her shoulder. The mining hole is about 65 feet deep, and police are astounded that the woman is still alive.

Dead Man’s Hole

One wonders how many tourists have walked into the Tower Bridge Exhibition without giving a passing glance to the white-tiled alcove just before the entrance. Located underneath the northern end of the bridge, signs tell those who are paying attention that this is the Dead Man’s Hole.

Once upon a time, those unfortunates who drowned in the river (or were thrown in after death) would often wash ashore next to Tower Bridge. Dead Man’s Hole served as a mortuary; the tiles were used in the décor as they were apparently easier to wipe clean, if any of the decomposing corpses happened to, well, burst (or maybe they kept the place cooler in summer to prevent such occurrences).

There are also accounts of wherrymen selling bodies they found in the river at this location – the medical students of St Bart’s reputedly paid six pence more per body than the students of Guy’s Hospital on the southern banks.

4 Reasons Why Your Dental Crowns Need to Be Replaced

You may have had a dental crown fitted in the past but what you may not know is whatever material they are made from, be it porcelain or gold or zirconium, they don’t last forever.

There are variety of reasons as to why a crown needs to be replaced:

Cracked or broken crowns:

Crowns are made of only porcelain, porcelain fused to metal or gold for added strength or zirconium. 

However, they can crack or break, especially when trauma is involved. If you have had a fall, bitten on a hard toffee or have been injured in contact sports, you can damage your crown.

 Excessive Wear – Formation of a holeon the crown or wear to the opposing natural teeth

As with most things, over time crowns start to age and deteriorate.  

A hole might start to appear in a gold or metal crown, and wear can be seen on opposing teeth, with PFM crowns, especially if you are prone to grinding your teeth.

 Complications With Tooth Decay

The margins, the junction/joint between the crown and the tooth underneath, can start to leak, causing decay. 

All types of crowns are equally at risk. 

Regular checkups with your dentist will make sure you spot any indications of decay forming beneath your crown early on.

 Aesthetically Unappealing:

Over time, gums shrink and as they shrink back they leave the margins exposed, often displaying unsightly black margins. 

The porcelain on white crowns can also change texture or pick up stains over time. This is more noticeable with any porcelain crown but especially with PFM’s.

These are good indications you should have your crown replaced for functional, health and aesthetic reasons.
