Hogtober Day 5: Divination

Suggestive language, but nothing explicit. AO3/Wattpad

Sebastian never particularly cared for Divination. If he was honest, the thought of leaving anything up to fate, the stars, the cards, or anything else that was out of his control was abhorrent. He would much rather fight tooth and nail to accomplish what he had set out to do than leave it up to the universe to determine the outcomes of any situation.

However, when Professor Onai announced that they were going to be practicing palm reading with a partner, it took everything in him not to be excited at the prospect of having the perfect excuse to hold a certain Ravenclaw girl's hand for an extended period of time. The intimate strokes of her delicate fingers along his more rough and calloused palm sent shivers down his spine as she glanced between the pictures in the book in front of her and the lines on his hand.

"So, this one is your heart line," she muttered, her brows furrowed in concentration. "And...hm."

Sebastian's other arm was propped up on the table next to him, his chin rested in his hand as he gazed at the girl in front of him. "See something interesting, sweetheart?"

She ignored his prodding and leaned closer to his palm as if the answers to the universe were written there. Sebastian supposed, by Divination standards, they were, if one wasn't as skeptical as he was about the whole charade.

"It's really long," she commented as she glanced back to the book.

He couldn't help the smirk that graced his freckled face at her innocent remark. Her naivety made it too easy for him to come up with suggestive retorts that often had her stuttering like a shy schoolgirl.

"So I've been told."

He felt a smug sense of satisfaction as a faint blush crept across the apples of her cheeks. It was always a sight to behold, the tinge of pink bringing out the star-like freckles smattered along her face. His grin only widened as she shot him a look of indignation. "Don't be so crass."

"Sorry," he said, not apologetic in the least.

"Apology not accepted. Keep that up, and you may find your life line significantly shorter," she warned. Sebastian responded with a coy smile, but he managed to keep his mouth shut just long enough for her to finish her reading.

He studied her face as she squinted at the book and traced another line along his palm. What he wouldn't give to clasp his hand closed around her lithe fingers and brush gentle kisses along each of her knuckles.

Not the time, he mentally chided himself.

"According to this, it says you would be a passionate lover," she mused aloud. She tilted her head in confusion and glanced up at Sebastian. "Am I using the wrong hand?"

He feigned a look of offense as he placed his opposite hand along his heart. "What, you don't believe I could be a passionate lover?"

She snorted and rolled her eyes. "Only when it suits you."

"I'm willing to test that theory."

He was graced with a well-deserved smack across the arm.

Sebastian was a bit disappointed when she finally released his hand, and he had the urge to reach out and grab hers just to hold it a moment longer.

"Alright," she said with a sigh as she pushed the Palmistry book closer to him. "Do me."

The smug grin on his face made its return at her remark. Too easy.

"What?" he asked cheekily.

She was clearly unappreciative of his quips today, because the look that she gave him was colder than the glacius spell she had cast on a group of Ashwinders last week.

"My palm, you twat."

With the excuse to hold her hand even longer, Sebastian happily obliged.

I didn't join Hogwarts: Legacy Tumblr until January 2024, so I missed out on the first Hogtober, but I'm stoked to participate this year!

In an attempt to get ahead of things, I've already drawn 5 prompts (phew!). Here's to hoping I can post every day. 🤞🤞🤞

Divination (Hogtober Day 5)

Hogtober - Day 5 - Divination

"I see, I see… I see… nothing."

"I'm sorry Professor Onai, but Divination isn't my thing…"

Divination classroom is really beautiful, isn't it? Or rather, is there any classroom at Hogwarts that isn't beautiful? I've caught up, with Hogtober I can go to sleep now zZzZz.

My first week of #Hogtober entries!

Day 1: “Ollivanders”

Jade didn’t have a good time finding her wand. The first couple exploded in her face and she was shook. It took forever for her finally get her wand

Day 2: “Feldcroft”

When Jade went with Sebastian she was able to help with Anne’s pain through traditional Chinese healing. Jade’s no stranger to pain herself so she how relieve some of it.

Day 3: “Sebastian Sallow”

(Not my best work so might redo in the future.) Sebastian loves all books (bc he’s a NERD). And I mean ALL books, not just ones about Dark Arts.

Day 4: “Arena”

Jade comes across the Dark Arts Arena for the first time and is conflicted. Should she enter? Or stay on the path of healing.

Day 5: “Divination”

Jade had a hard time grasping Divination taught at Hogwarts. She was used to traditional divination of her home country using a turtle shell and coins.

Day 6: “Natsai Onai”

Jade admires Natty’s courage and want to always do the right thing. She thinks Natty’s confidence to stay true to herself is commendable.

Day 7: “Honeydukes”

Jade never got to properly visit Honeydukes on her first trip to Hogsmeade. So Ominis and Sebastian decided to take her. She loved all the bright colors and animated sweets. Unfortunately many of the treats were too sweet to her liking.

Health Line

Hogtober Day 5 - Divination

“Of course,” Ominis sighed and Ambrose had to hold back a snicker as Professor Onai announced they’d be working on Palmistry.

“Ill help you,” Ambrose chuckled as he opened his Divination textbook to the proper page. “Here give me your hand.”

Ominis held his hand out and Ambrose shifted it so the back of Omini’s hand rested in the palm of his.

“Okay so this is your head line,” Ambrose said. He lightly traced the line with his finger, making Ominis shiver. Ambrose managed not to smirk. “It curves up, so you’re logical and levelheaded.”

“How far down does yours curve?”

“You’re hilarious, honey.”

“I do try.”

Ambrose just laughed and shook his head. “Your destiny line is fairly straight so you don’t have a lot in store for you on that front. Wow your heart line covers almost your whole hand.”

Ambrose traced that one next and watched a blush creep up Ominis’s neck.

“Apparently you have a caring, and loving personality,” Ambrose told him. “And a rather loveable one if I do say so myself.”

“Quiet,” Ominis pouted. Ambrose granted him mercy and moved on to the next line on his palm.

“A pretty goos line of success, not super ling but according to your fate line you shouldn’t have much opposition in life,” Ambrose hummed. “Then…oh.”

The last line was the health line. The book couldn’t quite decide if the line meant physical health, if you would be badly hurt in the future, or if it indicated your lifespan. Either way Ominis’s was concerningly short.

“What is it?” Ominis asked.

“Nothing just your health line is pretty short,” Ambrose glanced between Ominis’s hand and the book again. “It could be your lifespan or just your health in general.”

“Gee I wonder why my health may be poor,” Ominis said sarcastically. Ambrose was confused for a moment before he realized and snorted. He had to cover his mouth to keep from laughing out loud in the middle of class.

“You’re terrible,” Ambrose chuckled. “Do you want me to write it all down for you?”

“I think I remember it all,” Ominis replied.

“Okay, I’ll start mine,” Ambrose said.

He began to write down his observations from his own hand while Ominis dictated his own results to his quill. Ambrose’s heart line fully covered his hand and his headline was almost perfectly straight, only curving down a bit. His success line was long so that was nice.

“Typical,” Ambrose sighed. Ominis hummed. “Here, look.”

Ambrose guided Ominis’s hand to his hand and traced his fingers along the fate line.

“Is it supposed to be that long?” Ominis wondered.

“It’s longer than the diagrams in the book,” Ambrose groaned. “This is the Keepers’ fault.”

“Of course, I’m sure it had nothing to do with you throwing yourself into danger every chance you get,” Ominis hummed.

“Rude,” Ambrose muttered.

Finally he got to his health line and found something intriguing.

“Omi are you done with your notes?”

“Yes, why?”

“Give me your hand again.”

Ominis offered his hand once more and Ambrose held their hands next to each other.

“Our health lines are the same length,” Ambrose observed.

It was actully relieveing. If Ambrose died young it would most likely be due to Ranrok or Rookwood, but Ominis wouldn’t die at the same time in those cases. So if their lines were the same length it meant that Ominis wouldn’t die young alongside Ambrose, and that Ambrose hopefully wouldn’t die early either.

Twelve years later, when he had Sebastian’s arm around his waist and Ominis’s hand found his he realized what it all meant as the cavern exploded around them.

Hogtober Day 5 : D.A.D.A

Well… it took me a while to finish the drawing because I've just gone back to work and it's going to take up a lot of my time. But I'm someone who plays the game to the end and hates falling behind x)

For Day 5 I was quickly inspired by my fanfic, chapter 3, when Sebastian and Ariane are about to have their first duel against each other💖

Hogtober, Day 25: Mask

Sebastian's fingers sifted through the contents of the trunk, lingering on the soft fabrics of clothing until they stumbled upon something more intriguing. His grip tightened around the object, pulling it out to reveal a poacher's mask.

The mask exuded an aura of primal intrigue. Crafted from a weathered bone, it resembled the skull of some predatory creature, its eerie semblance frozen in time. A protruding snout jutted forward, while etchings crossed its surface with swirling lines and intricate patterns. The markings traversed the entire mask.

“Something you found on your adventures with Poppy and Natty?” he inquired.

Damien grimaced. “I don’t know why I kept that. I’m not ever going to wear it.”

“You could sell it.”

“Who would want it? Besides a poacher, that is.”

“Fair point.”

Hogtober, Day 5: Divination

When Damien opened his own results, they found out that he received Outstanding in nearly every subject, except for one Exceeds Expectations (“Divination. Professor Onai probably saw that coming,” he said with a laugh), and one glaringly bad mark in Herbology. Damien sighed when he saw it was Dreadful, to which he offered the excuse that he simply didn't possess a green thumb, and besides, Sebastian had been remarkably distracting since he consistently chose to sit next to Damien’s potting table. Sebastian retorted that it was, in fact, Damien who often arrived late and deliberately selected the spot beside him.
