What is so endearing about a picture of a knife, a gun, and a cup of coffee? I don't quite understand the joy anyone would get in that. The same goes for naked and half-naked women holding a gun.
If you read my bio, you would see that I clearly state I am a firearms enthusiast. After reading that, you could logically infer that I enjoy such images. So quite frankly, the matter is self explanatory. That said, I do not ask or require anyone else to enjoy such images. Feel free to unsubscribe or skip over such images in the future.
As they say, to each his own. The beauty in being part of humanity is understanding that we each have our own likes and preferences and that’s what makes us all unique.
#thanks for the ask!#I am also a coffee enthusiast but don’t say that in my bio#I also have a knife collection#I have an identical HK USP in 45 used in that photo

Hey! I'm writing a series with a character who is a sniper. She is a private hire and ends up meeting someone who works with shorter ranged guns and weapons.
I'm just wondering how they would differ when killing someone and what are the tells of each weapon. I want to make it clear that the weapons are different but I'm not sure what those differences are
So, something that stuck out to me originally, when reading this is, most snipers are going to have a close range PDW. Whether that's just their sidearm or something more substantial, they'd need to be proficient with something in close quarters if it comes to that.
Now, the hard part about answering this question in the abstract is that, almost everything associated with firearms is extremely date sensitive.
For example, if your CQB/CQC character was originally trained sometime in the late 90s to late 2000s (in a Western country), they'd have likely encountered Center Axis Re-lock. Outside of those 20 years, then that style hadn't seen widespread adoption, or had fallen out of favor.
For some specific film examples, Vincent (Tom Cruise) from Collateral (2004) would have been working as an assassin for at least a decade by the time we see him in the film. We can make this assessment based on the way he handles the USP, and then compare to CQC training. His one-handed disarm and execute he uses in the alley puts his training sometime in the 80s to 90s at the earliest, while his lack of CAR in close quarters tells you he didn't have Western military or law enforcement training after the mid-90s.
Another film example that might surprise you is John Wick (Keanu Reeves). In those films he exhibits CQC training that suggests he still in the military less than 15 years before the events of the first film. Except his CAR stances are actually a little sloppy (which is unusual for Reeves), which suggests that Wick may have observed others using the stance, and then improvised a version of it for his own use. Meaning you can't really estimate when his combat training occurred. (This might also might explain why he's a bit sloppy about when he switches between Weaver and CAR.) By the way, it is quite difficult to pick this out. It took a few experts dinging on the first Wick film before I really started picking up on the issues with Reeves' technique. And I haven't seen anyone else draw the conclusion that Wick is probably self-taught in CAR. (This was corrected for the later films, as Reeves did get proper training in CAR in preparation for the second film.)
In particular, this is a singular example, but there are a lot of things someone can do that will inform you about their background and training. This starts with weapon selection. Things like their preferred sidearm and primary can be very insightful. People tend to go in one of two directions with firearms. Either, they're very willing to adapt and experiment, or they'll find something they're comfortable with and hone in with that specific firearm.
For example, is your sniper carrying around a Remington 700, or something like an MSR or AWM? Both are legitimate answers, but they say very different things about how your character approaches their area of expertise. Similarly, are they carrying a 1911 pattern pistol, or something more modern, like an HK USP or FN P45?
If your sniper is carrying around an AMT Hardballer, and your CQC specialist is carrying around a P45t, your CQC specialist has twice the magazine capacity. They can afford to dump rounds into someone until they stop twitching. Where as a Hardballer is “just” an extremely well made 1911. Their kills are going to look different, but it's a function of the weapon they chose.
Without knowing what they're carrying, it's very hard to answer definitively how their kills will look.
If it was me, kitting out for CQC in a situation where I'd need to hide the weapon under a jacket, I'd seriously consider an AAC Honey Badger hidden under a sport coat. (I know, I trash talked the Honey Badger a few years ago, before getting a good look at one and seeing just how tiny they are. Mea Culpa. I should know better than to shit on a gun I'm unfamiliar with by now. That's a toxic element of gun culture I've been trying to get away from. It still clings a bit sometimes.) Similarly, the Mk18 and Colt 733 are also pretty good options. That's a little bit of an M4a1 bias, but it's a decent platform. There are other valid options, those are just the first that come to mind for me.
If your character was kitting for CQC, and wanted Warsaw pact weapons, the Groza is a bit exotic, but that's what it was designed for. The SR-3M Vikhr is an update of the Val, and a pretty legitimate choice. They're both 9x39mm rifles, so long range accuracy isn't happening, but in close quarters they still hit stupidly hard. Granted, any Krinkov would work in that role. (So, mostly AKS-74Us.) (I think there were some 7.62x39mm Krinkovs, but I can't remember the name.)
So, ultimately, identifying the differences between the weapons, starts with knowing what the weapons are. Having a basic idea of how they handle (even if that's not first hand), and then being able to see how they differ from one another. This is made even harder in the sense that modern firearms have become extremely modular. Given the option to fully kit out the same gun for you CQC specialist, it's a pretty good bet you and I would walk away with distinctly different end results. Even if the base model was the same. (For the record, I'm not saying my configuration would be better. I have biases and preferences that aren't necessarily the best option available.)
The best place to start, is looking at the kinds of weapons your character would use. Your sniper's going to want a long range precision rifle and a sidearm. She might also go for a small machine pistol/SMG. Your CQC specialist would probably prioritize an actual primary. That might be an SMG, a carbine, or even a shotgun (because nothing says hello quite like three or four 12 gauge shells pumped out of a fully automatic Saiga. (And before someone corrects me, yes, I know, there are no production full-auto Saigas, however they can be illegally modified for full-auto.)
Once you know how different the weapons are, you can start digging into how the characters themselves approach combat, and how their respective styles differ.

Considering liquidating some handguns to buy another handgun. But then I was messing with them and realized they’re cool as fuck and I’d rather just keep hoarding them.
Sig P220 with no pic rail? How could I part with that. Ruger GP100 Wiley Clapp edition? Way too practical to part with. Smith and Wesson Shield Plus? I shoot that thing really damn good and sometimes you just need a small gun.
Guess I’ll just have to save up some money for an HK USP compact.

The Shadows Take Family.
(Warning, this is an alternate universe horror story for Alan Wake 2. I wrote this and originally posted it in a google doc in the Remedy discord. My mutuals should all add me on discord I like talking about Alan Wake and nerd stuff on there.) "FBC Investigation Department Steven Yoke reporting in, Code 7721, More shadows have appeared, and I was sent to investigate." The agent spoke into the ham radio he had in his cabin. It was lit up like a christmas tree and unable to be invaded by the taken. Truthfully the taken were the least of his worries, he killed at least 3 of them when he had gotten here, using a flashlight and a suppressed HK USP to avoid any loud noises alerting the townsfolk. His fears weren’t about the Koskela’s or the taken but instead the cult. Steve though hadn't heard anything recently from the cult of the trees. Just some chatter that a possible leader in their organization had disappeared and was suspected to have become one of the taken. His suspects as to who were short in numbers, Blum, Ilmo, Jaako, Rose, fucking Pat Maine for all he knew. This town wasn't his favorite place to be stationed, the only good thing was the coffee, and even that seemed to be getting worse every time he was there. He would hear something outside of his cabin, a voice corrupted but recognizable from the advertisements in town, a leader in the two towns of Watery and Bright Falls. "And AlL BeCause of your SHIT COFFEE!" An originally humorous line corrupted by the Dark Presence taking him. It was Ilmo Koskela. "They got Ilmo Koskela, the shadows got Ilmo Koskela this is not a drill." He said grabbing his flashlight and gun getting ready to take out the taken, the broken deer mask half resting on Ilmo's face as Steven stepped out. "FBC FREEZE MOTHERFUCKER!" He said but before he could shoot, clonk, he was knocked out by something else from behind, he was dragged to the lake. MIA isn't too bad for a man who's probably never able to retire. He would still be reaching for his side arm besides the suppressed pistol, it was a Gen 2 Glock 35 which had a flashlight equipped to it. Before he could even try to shoot the taken though something else had happened. Ilmo and the Taken that trapped the agent both tried to drag him into the water, Ilmo quoting his ads some more. "It's not a-moosing!" As he was speaking more, and more getting close to the lake a powerful light was shown on the two, his brother Jaako wouldn't let him be corrupted for long, Two shots from a pump action shotgun rang out. Jaako got ready for the ritual to kill the taken. "I'm sorry brother." Jaako said as he grabbed the knife and drove it into his brother's chest slowly carving out his heart. It was the ritual, it was something Jaako hated doing to those he knew. But now they weren’t the locals, they were monsters. It sickened him that this was needing to happen but he understood why. "We watch from the trees, We fight the shadows!" The other cult members chanted as they took the heart out and placed it down on the table, pulling out a page of Hemingway's writing and replacing it with one from Rose about the brother dying a death to a cult. They put the clicker in the hole in his chest and clicked. Soon after they got ready for the next one, Jaako was still heart broken. All he hoped was that this would give his brother the rest he deserved.

do you have any OCs or original species?
I have three main ocs!
the first one is John Reddington
He is like, 30 years old, a crow, and runs the galaxy's largest criminal empire. he uses this empire to help people and dismantle major corporations that run the galaxy. Hes a god with a revolver (specifically a Unica 6) and excellent at hand to hand combat. (obligatory overpowered OC moment) His parents were murdered when he was 12 and the man who killed them adopted him and made him into the crime god and excellent fighter he is today. after he found out how his parents died, he usurped his adoptive father, killed him, and then made his own empire to right the wrongs he made over the past decade or so.
The second one, is also my fursona (John used to be, before my transed gender) Her name is April Aviatrix.
shes a radio hobbyist who went to college for electrical engineering (ref is outdated). In the universe where my oc's are set, radio is kinda really outdated, and music overall has become boring (think Human music from rick and morty [god forgive i mention it]) and one day, while messing around with radios in the spaceship equivalent of a ford pinto, she intercepted a signal that was playing music she had never heard before (70's progressive rock) and decided to track down where it was coming from, to find a post apocalyptic Earth, where all humans are dead. She found the source of the signal, which is a massive radio beacon, attached to a half destroyed museum of music, which had all kinds of instruments, and gear, and a massive collection of music made by human beings on massive amounts of hard drives. She took all of the music into her futuristic thumbdrive, including schematics for synths, guitar amps, guitar pickups, pianos, etc. just anything and everything that the museum had on its barely functioning computers. she was able to turn all of this stuff into workable stuff, and taught herself guitar and other instruments, and performs in a local bar every once in a while, that she works as a bartender at (the electrical engineering degree didn't do much). anyways eventually (i ahve no idea how) she ends up meeting John Reddington, going "join my emo band (rush cover band)" and he ends up being absolutely Phenomenal on a drumkit. and she ends up second in command in the empire, as her electrical engineering knowledge is extremely helpful, alongside her being the only genuine connection to another person John's had since he was 12. She uses an HK-USP-S
the last one is Vincent, which. Hes kinda in limbo right now. He used to be a seagull:
and that was pretty neat i think, but i stopped really caring about him as much once i transitioned. Hes supposed to be a bluejay now, but i haven't drawn it, and he plays bass (specifically a Thunderbird). He doesn't really have much of a personality anymore, as that job's been taken over by April. He does wield a fucked up sword that looks like a lawnmower blade.
I have ideas for others, like a rwby oc specifically who has bands around her arms that can turn into swords (think Finn's grass sword, only not hold able, and more attached at the back of the hand like the pacific rim sword) or gauntlets or be used for mobility. Shes neat. Still thinking about a semblance for her though.
