i’ve actually gotten a couple asks like this since i started reblogging merlin stuff again! so here’s a few! (i read a lot of sm*ut, i am so sorry. i tried to recommend a lot of fics that aren’t ns*fw too!) they’re all canon era/compliant because i don’t like au fics for this show.

i love all of these, but i put asterisks (*****) beside the ones that are my absolute faves :)

HjNX Brings Vibrant Track “Meteorite”

HjNX is a Toronto-based duo fronted by multi-instrumentalist Gregory Ambrose Calderone and supported by co-writer/co-producer/sibling Nicemark. In 2010, Gregory was cast as the lead in Bruce MacDonald’s This Movie is Broken (Rhombus Media), alongside indie rock icons Broken Social Scene. The production led to several collaborations between the Calderone brothers and Brendan Canning of BSS, including support during a North American tour of Canning’s solo album You Gots 2 Chill, and later, the writing/recording of his follow-up album Home Wrecking Years (Arts and Crafts).

When the pandemic hit in early 2020, HjNX immediately got to work building a recording studio/independent label: Apt. Sea. With the studio now complete, the duo are continuing their exploration of creating genre-bending music.

The duo’s new single, “Meteorite,” is the follow-up to their debut single “Shake Down”. It’s a song for romantic renegades - the ones willing to cross the cosmos in pursuit of love and liberty.

After a long day spent recording vocals for "Shake Down" during the lockdown of early 2020, the sun was setting brilliantly and the birds were singing in the trees, just recently returning from their hiatus down south.

I opened up the windows, cranked up the input level on the microphone, and pointed it out toward the street. Dropping the audio into the outro created a somewhat optimistic conclusion to a rumbling, distorted beginning.

After an incredibly tumultuous start to the year, that moment felt hopeful.
