my anxiety has worsened since I got back online to insta and Facebook plus recently from work about the election that happened, I’m starting to get very very sick at the words and the facts that people pointed out to the point I’m trying not to cry, heck if you so against how it turned out why won’t you actually hit the person that you voted to Be president if you you don’t like them but then they will replace the president with the VP to be president instead. But then again we had two not smart people who were candidates for president elections and I’m at the point to have a mental breakdown. People are starting a modern day revolution just by seeing the post that are being made

can you share some interesting facts or things you think most people don't know about ayrton? i find him real fascinating, and as a newer fan that also isn't brazilian i guess it can be a bit harder to find these things!
heya Anon!
I'm not brazilian either- Im from london (rraaaaaa what the fuck is a sunny day) so dont let your nationality hold you back from research! If you are interested, there are many places you can find out about Classic/Retro F1 online, or if you are also English, the national archives in London and on the BBC have many articles and old clips with lots of information. But I am lucky to live in a country thats so dilligent with safeguarding histroy.
But here are some of my more niche Ayrton facts:
-He was left handed
-He barely EVER drank so he was a complete lightweight
-He was a terrible sleeper, and would chase the peacoks in his garden for waking him up early with a gun
-His favourite food was pasta and he'd often ditch the Mclaren catering and steal food from Ferrari
-He was a skilled chess player (or maybe other people got too distracted by his good looks and lost- either way he won many of his matches)
-Ayrton actually lived in some pretty rough ereas in England for a bit while he waited for his career to take off. To this day there is a street named after him in Reading (which is near me so of course I have pilgramidged to see it)
-Ayrton was an absolute NERD and loved building and flying minature planes (him and my dad could have had a shared hobby there lmao)
-Ayrton had Bell's Palsey, which caused half of his face to paralyse when he was younger. Brazilian doctors told him it was uncurable, but Ayrton, stubburn git that he was, hired a specialist from (i think) Europe and worked for countless hours every day and did what was thought in the 80's to be medically impossible and reversed his symptoms
most of these may be common knowledge in the classic F1 community idk, but to someone new these may be interesting!!! Hope you enjoyed anon

Japanese History Words
将軍 (しょうぐん)
they were a pretty big deal ~

Shōgun: Officially this position was called 征夷大将軍 (Hiragana: せいいだいしょうぐん, Romanji: seii taishōgun) As we know, Japanese love their abbreviations, Shōgun (将軍, means army leader). Kanji Breakdown: 征(せい, sei) means to "conquer" or "subjugate" 夷(い, i) means "brutish" or "unsophisticated warrior" 大(だい, dai) means "big" or "great" [meaning of this kanji changes based on context] 将(しょう, sho-u) means "commander" or "leader" 軍(ぐん, gun) means "armed forces" or "troops"
Essentially, 征夷大将軍 means Commandar in Cheif of Army Against the Barbarian Forces [or Commander-in-Chief of the Expeditionary Force Against the Barbarians]
They were the millitary rulers appointed by the Emperor of Japan in the periods spanning between 1185 - 1868. Generally, Shogun were the de-facto rulers of the country. The last Shogunate of Japan was the 徳川幕府 (Tokugawa Shogunate) also known as the Edo Shogunate. There were total of three shogunates established in Japan: 1. 鎌倉幕府, Kamakura Shogunate (1192–1333, overthorwn during the Kemu Restoration, re-establishing the Imperial Goverment rule until being overthrown by the Ashikaga Takauji and his offspring forming the 足利幕府) 2. 足利幕府, Ashikaga Shogunate (1336–1573, overthrown by 織田信長, Oda Nobunaga, a damiyo) 3. 徳川幕府, Tokugawa Shogunate (1603–1868, disbanded in 1867)
Now of course, the history of each other these shogunates and famous shoguns require many, many posts to over!
As always, Gintama has inspired me to learn more about Japanense culture hehe. Hopefully this was helpful to you as well :)
Please feel free to add onto the post with histroy facts and other interesting stuff :D

sketches for Ciel and Sebastian in Chinese Ming dynasty style. I wanted to see how they’d fit in ancient robes…
their hairstyles won’t fit in with the historical accurate look but I tried🥲
ciel’s look refers to the protagonist of A Dream in Red Mansions (all time best ancient Chinese literature ngl; I see a parallel in ciel and him)
There’s not really a demon’s outfit in Chinese myths(in fact not even the equivalent concept of the devil)so I give Seb a casual wear for officals (but he got a crow embroidery rather than the proper patterns for officials for identification(?)
P2 is our boy ciel pre-contract…
Not sure why I made these but I wanted different outfits for them and I like Chinese histroy🫢

I was going through your blog and I saw you made a post about Black Indians and how ridiculous you think they are. I just wanted to let you know that it's a historical fact that Africans and Native Americans mixed regardless of how you feel. That's all.
i think you're misunderstanding. (it's okay. there's been a lot of misunderstandings around here lately.)
i wasn't talking about actual black indians. i fully acknowledge that there was some degree of mixing between africans and native americans. though it's important to note that this was only ever in very small numbers and was mostly limited to the seminoles. other examples of "black indians" are mostly the result of former slaves gaining membership within the native american nation they were enslaved by (like the cherokee nation, most prominently). there was a whole legal controversy about this.
no, what i was talking about in that post was this new afro-centric conspiracy theory that insists the original and true native americans were actually african. except they don't believe they were actually africans. as in, they don't believe they came here from africa. they believed humanity (except white people who they don't consider humans) started with the original true "black indians" here in america. and then they spread throughout the world until white people came along and ruined everything and attempted to suppress this "true" histroy.
so yeah, these are two very different ideas. i fully acknowledge the former and i think the latter is outrageous and stupid (though very entertaining).
#hearing them talk about the origins of white people is always my favorite#i've heard some say white people are aliens#others say we were yakub's science experiment gone wrong#i've seen some say we were created by god as a joke#others say that we climbed out of hell through a demonic flesh pit in texas???#others say that we're just primitive neanderthals that never evolved#the list goes on#but it's always very important for them to deny our humanity#and they insist they invented basically every major civilization in the world#and that all these people -- especially white people -- “stole” their history from them#that's what they say actual native americans are doing right now#they're beefing with real native americans claiming that they're stealing their history and culture

my review of the movie "the lost king" and a formal request for more historian friends.
RIGHT SO: basically the movie starts with this iconic woman named Phillipa Langley relates to the fact that Shakespeare's portrayal of Richard the Third says that because he was disabled he was the worst of people, and she decides that she is going to set out and do research, because she feels like if he had been disabled he wouldn't have felt that poorly about himself
(That's a bit of a sum up, but it still hits the highlights)
AND IN THE MOVIE: All of these big fancy professional historians have come to these conclusions, without piecing it all together, which is a bit mad.
and this ameutur historian (Langley) proves that Richard the Third was not the usurper that history called him, but instead a true king who did not have his nephews killed in the tower
and it's just this further proof that history is seen through a very specific point of view, and that if there isn't enough research done in the First Place people will get history incorrect
because the king following richard chose to spread lies about him, and then Shakespeare made it worse with his play and so on and so on, History decided that Richard the Third was a usurper
And that happens in history!
OFTEN!
People decide that there are parts in histroy that they don't agree with:
and then they write it out
And then the historians that follow look at it and say "Hey this historian has a degree from such and such, so im going to trust them and just quote them without looking into it myself"
And so, Phillipa Langley had nothing to prove and yet she still went out and did it. Because she didn't have a degree to protect, or people she was required to listen to as to not upset anyone, she had a truth she wanted to share and find out so she did
and i KNOW
That it a very debated statement about whether or not "history is decided by the victors" and i do think it's not in every case, but there are many examples that say that it is in fact that it is something people do:
Like, Richard the Third
Or, like the freaking trail of tears, the civil war, the potato famine, the disability rights movement, i could literally keep listing!!!
Like, I get it if history isn't that important to some people, i do!!!
But it is there.
And it is such an important aspect of humans.
Even if they don't realize.
BECAUSE!!!
History may not be the here and now, but it is how we got here
And sure, there are shit parts about it, there are elements of history that no one wants to talk about, or acknowlede, or deal with ever again but there is beauty in there too!!!
History is so beautiful when you know how to read the sources right, and understand that you cannot put you're 2023 mindset into an event that happened 200 years ago.
History is beautiful!
#history#bit of a rant#if you saw me post this on LBMSWA no you didn't#my professors need to put me on a pedestal and rant about this#because history is quite literally my passion in life#my writing

Stupid questions incoming:
How exactly is Aryan Migration different from like, other migrations? Is it the fact that they did not have a homeland? Was this the place they finally settled at after leaving Africa or were they actually native to someplace else before?
Everyone came from Africa, right? And if so, what is the difference between Dravidians finding this land and what exactly makes Aryans foreigners in some people’s eyes?
oh yes THIS
i should have touched on this that day but the post was getting too long,
no difference at all, in the grand scheme of things, people have been migrating here and there since the beginning, the ethnoclutural backgrounds of places change all the time.
also, they did have a homeland, the pontic steppes, they just didnt build buildings, canals, citadels like many other contemporary societies did. and they did have attachment to the land they lived on, prithvi and her homologues are one of the most important godesses afterall.
and noone actually knows if the first place that dravidians settled was india, or any other society for that matter because by the most agreed upon definition, homo sapiens left africa somewhere around 70-50,000 years ago.
[also, there is no set definition of "human", many consider all the species of the homo genus to be humans, in which case homo erectus (dont laugh) left africa 2 million years ago, and also homo sapiens also left africa once or twice before 50000 ago but those were not permanent and they died off]
so we arrive in asia 70-50,000 yars ago. the oldest settlements are 10,000 old, and the oldest civilisation is egypt at around 5000 years old. now you notice the 65-45,000 year long window between exodus out of africa and starting of the first nation? between this time EVERYONE was nomadic. gunter gatherer at first and then pastoralists and then some places became agriculturists.
there have been so many waves of migrations that cant possibly claim that xyz was the original place of abc people after coming out of africa, i mean just imagine, youre a hunter gatherer, rain doesnt happen on time and the plants are drying, now youll want to get out of that place and go somewhere else, you have no particular place in mind, just somewhere that has food will do. so migrations were the norm for most of histroy, until like two hundred years ago you could just leave a country and go live somewhere else and noone would bat an eye
and everyone was moving around, the americas were settled TWICE, by crossing through the berring strait (which was frozen as an ice bridge back then).
so there is no fundamental difference between aryans and dravidians arriving in india, its just that due to coincidence the dravidians came first.
and i can not claim to know anyones mind unfortunately,
but it might be because right wing hindu conservatives consider muslims and british descendents to be foreigners, so someone promptly pointed out that technically youre a foreigner as well, (though they were wrong in saying that, because no genetically pure aryan is living today, all of us are mixed race, though the hindus are obviously also wrong in claiming that the palce theyve been living in for generations, almost a millenium in some cases is "not their country")
and theres also the caste thing, see in the northern plains (wont make any claims about other places, this is how things are percieved as here) (also im not saying that the following is true, but only that most people believe it too be true, i dont have enough knowledge to support or deny this) upper caste people tend to have more "aryan" phenotype whereas lower caste people have more native phenotypes. so many lower class people feel like that they were the originals owners of this land and in came these foreigners, oppressed us, destroyed our religion, implemented their own oppressive culture etc etc you get the gist.
to some extent this is true (just look at our beauty standards, and no the british didnt cause this) as lower caste were objectively oppressed and kept out of any well do to position under the hindu laws (we had a katha a few days back and the "priest" had the fucking audacity to say that "those who feel like they can be with god by reading the scripture and reciting it dont know that only brhamins can read it in a meaningful way" like what the fuck you bastard)
umm yeah thats it.

Gmelin received several accolades both during his life and after his passing, solidifying his place as a pivotal player in the history of scientific discovery and earning him enduring esteem for his significant contribution to science.
VII. Controversies and Criticisms

During his lifetime, Leopold Gmelin’s work received relatively few controversies and complaints. But several detractors questioned the precision and thoroughness of his chemical analysis methods. Additionally, there have been arguments about how some scientific contributions to his work have been underrepresented, as is the case with many historical personalities. Despite these minor issues, Gmelin’s legacy and contributions to chemistry and medicine have endured the test of time, and he is still regarded highly for his ground-breaking work and substantial influence on the scientific world.
VIII. Conclusion

In summary, Leopold Gmelin was a pioneering scientist whose life and work have left a lasting impact in the disciplines of chemistry and medicine. Modern chemistry was founded on the methodical approach he took to categorizing and analyzing chemicals as well as on the ground-breaking work he did on chemical elements and compounds. Gmelin’s contributions to pharmacology and drug research serve as more evidence of his impact on medical research.

Did you know this?!?!
from @blackwomenthrive & @melaninboard
Harlem World Magazine says:
About the top picture: A photo of a ukrainian cosplayer by the name of Olya Gussy who posed in several photographs as Betty Boop in which went viral and has been seen by millions of people on the internet where the photo has been mistaken as Baby Esther and/or Helen Kane. The reason as to why the photoshoot of Oyla was mistaken for Baby Esther was because HelloBeautiful’s Lifestyle Editor Danielle Young posted the photo of the “white” ukrainian cosplayer (the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game) dressed up as Betty Boop and claimed it was Baby Esther without researching the origin of the photograph, which made people believe the photograph was actually “Baby Esther”, and also lead people to believe Betty Boop was of mixed-race heritage/Mulatto.

Sorry I was trying to look up something I had heard about the development of media to create verisimilitude and thus destroy any hope we have of distinguishing things that happened from those that didn't but the search engine I use couldn't understand the phrase "death of history" to be different from "history of death"
#some shit#badum tssk#i think i meant the end of histroy? maybe in relation to the fukuyama book?#but the. you know. capital -and powers that be to support- it self perpetuate the. shaping of facts of our reality#historical amnesia. climate amnesia. those things#happy mandatory day of mourning of the puppet head of state/covid is over day#now time to strap on my n99 and go to work

Some thoughts about One Piece
So I’ve been doing some thinking about One Piece and had to write my thoughts down. There have been a lot of speculations about what separates OP from other shounen series, and while the answers are many I believe most of it comes down to the fine details. In this case I’m thinking about the importance that is placed on the characters.
What I mean by this is that OP values other character traits than just fighting ability. This is quite unusual in battle shounen. If a character can’t fight they’re often regarded as useless by large portions of the fanbase. An example of this is Sakura from Naruto, she didn’t fight as much as or had the same trackreccord as the guys and there are still jokes about her being useless circling around. I’m not here to argue whether that is true or not, but I will say that this argument haven’t happened to any of the strawhat pirates (as far as I am aware). The question is now why this difference exists, and I believe that it’s due to OP showing that there are other abilities besides fighting that is important. And while other series may tell you this too, OP actively shows it.
Let me explain:
While all the SH pirates are capable of fighting, the only character that has that as their “sole” function is Zoro. Sanji is the cook, Nami the navigator, Chopper the doctor and so on. This is one of the positives of having the story revolve around the crew of a ship. Luffy may be strong and can defeat most enemies, but if it weren’t for the others he would have drowned at sea long ago by now. Then, almost every time they have added a new crewmember they have expressed that there is a position in their crew that is needed but missing. They needed a navigator? They found Nami. They were desperate for a shipdoctor? They found Chopper. The ship is falling apart? Franky can fix it. Luffy dreams of having a musician? Brook.
And it’s not just their introduction arc. They are often seen doing their tasks in between battles and it is not unusual that these traits then play a huge role in solving the problem they’re up against. Like if we use Nami as an example, she is completely vital in continuing the journey. They would have died so many times if it weren’t for her ability to read the Grand Lines bizarre weather phenomenon. She also helped Luffy get to Enel and the golden bell in Skypea and during the escape from Einies lobby they only got away because she could read the streams and navigate the ship (while the others defended it from incoming fire) to name a few. I can also mention that sometimes what is valuable are simple character traits. Like Sanji having the foresight to sneak off and do things behind the scenes. Franky rushing off to secure the ship. Usopp’s negativity which made him the only one capable of withstanding Perona’s attacks. They all have traits that help them on their journey. These traits aren’t just one-off things either. Oda makes a point of showing these traits off as often as he can, which is mostly when they’re travelling between islands. Zoro trains because he is one of their main fighters, Sanji prepares food, Nami navigates and so on.
There is some telling regarding this too. In the beginning in Arlong Park Luffy straight out says that he wouldn’t be able to accomplish anything on his own and that he needs other people to achieve his dream. This is extremely clear whenever someone in the crew is missing and there aren’t anyone else who can perform their task. When Nami was sick they were almost crushed by a hurricane and only survived because she pulled herself out of bed and ordered them to change direction. With Sanji gone they almost starved to death (and Luffy ate poisonous fish). If Usopp hadn’t joined them in Einies lobby then they would have lost Robin. All of them are important if they want to make it all the way to One Piece.
Overall I find it pretty interesting that One Piece which is a story partly about selfishness and the will to achieve your own dream comes with the message that you can’t do it by yourself. It’s pretty different compared to some other stories which praises teamwork and friendship but then has only one person beating all of the bad guys.
