I genuinely think I would’ve realized I was trans sooner if I watched MML when it first premiered because the amount of gender envy Dakota gives me is unreal

Alhaitham genshinimpact 11, 20, 22
for the blorbo ask game!
this got REALLY long because this accidentally um. activated the overlap between my special interests (psychology, particularly identity and relationships) and (autistic blorbos).... so im putting it under a cut. the questions were:
"11. Would you date this character?";
"20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?"; and
"22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?"
11. Would you date this character?
honestly this is a difficult one simply because i cannot envision any reality in which he would date me. he's got that huge aspec swag. i think we could be qpps though. he would be very autism direct with me and it would be very nice and cool. like business partners almost. i could see that. i think in the spirit of the question, yes, because i respect him as a person and would engage in a long term relationship with him pretty readily, were it an option
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
OHH that's a cool one.. honestly i think he has an interesting relationship with kaveh, i think they could be good friends after like. a 200k slowburn fixit fic where they both put a lot of work into their relationship and their own self esteem (mostly on kaveh's part-- poor guy). like it's impractical from a canon standpoint but I'm fascinated by the prospect because their core personalities compliment each other so well, and they're both extremely intelligent. i think kaveh is one of the few people that doesn't really get left behind when alhaitham explains things.
BUT if im looking at canon characters as they are and not my long-term fantasy fanfiction that i haven't written, i would have to say... any of: gorou, keqing, freminet, albedo, ....and maybe xingqiu but i'm tentative on that one. reason being that these are the most honest, upfront, devoted, hardworking, and intelligent people that i can think of off the top of my head.
my criteria:
1) has to be able to keep up intellectually with him. i don't think he minds being patient and explaining things over again if there's genuine interest, but someone who gets lost really easily and can't follow his train of thought even if he slows it down/makes it more explicit... probably wouldn't really enjoy spending time with him, and probably wouldn't be very rewarding to explain things to either. a good friend for him would be someone who has the interest and ability to eventually understand whatever interesting thing he's pondering, and preferably, even be able to build off of it and pose their own curiosities. i think that albedo and keqing excel here, as they are both extremely curious and thoughtful people that are prone to questioning and interrogating their environment. the insane scientific banter these guys would be able to have with him is off the charts and would be very autistically satisfying for everyone involved. freminet and gorou also fit here to a lesser extent, because while they might not have as much to actively contribute (though I think they still would at least a little), they would find whatever he were talking about genuinely fascinating and want to learn more.
2) has to be genuine and earnest. or at least able to be genuine when the time calls for it. for alhaitham to be able to fully trust and enjoy being around them, they have to be someone who he can trust to be open with their information and intentions. they would have to be someone that he can trust to not try and mislead or misinterpret him when it counts. i think he lies a lot to people that he doesn't like or respect, but in a relationship that he did respect, he would require mutual honesty and communication. i think that freminet and gorou excel here, as they are both extremely empathic, earnest people. i think they wouldn't engage as much when alhaitham talks about whatever curiosity he's most recently discovered, but i think they would have insightful opinions when they did, and they could be trusted to keep it as secret as it needed to be. (though i will note i'm mostly going by personality. i'm not really factoring age into this because i think freminet may be a teenager?? i think gorou is just a petit adult though)
.....he has not interacted with any of these people in canon. like at all.
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?
oh MAN i really should read fics honestly but i don't... so i will just go with fandom characterization of him. i love it when they make him blunt and autistic and rude especially to paimon. i don't really like when people's entire impression of him seems to be "asshole that's bad and weird and can't keep friends and doesn't have the Common Sense to upkeep social courtesies" cause that squicks a little bit too close to just.... hating neurodivergency. for my comfort. also not personally into the fan portrayals where he's seemingly fully allosexual/alloromantic, or where he's like... romantic about it, you know? this guy's idea of romance, if he has any, is asking you directly what you want for your anniversary, and then buying that for you. or sitting on a couch and reading silently together. and i love it when i see things that hit that kind of specific queerplatonic vibe. i also love characterizations that are a little bit slapstick where he causes problems for kaveh and is just generally kind of. like. insensitive but not Mean or Malicious you know.
AND that concludes my answer to this ask that took me two hours to type up (oops)! thank you so much for the prompt!!! this is. my favorite topics . i love relationship pondering

Prefacing this with the fact that I am not beholden to cis Chai because that t boy swag is off the charts HOWEVER in case of cis guy Chai I think he would have absolutely had the most Normal White Guy Name like Tyler or Sean or whatever. Then he met a nonbinary person who changed their name, thought that was cool (and he also didn't know you could do that LMAO) and changed his name to Chai lol

Ella Enchanted (part one)
Fandom: Stranger Things season 3
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Reader
Summary: (Y/N), also known as Nine, was a girl being experimented on all her life by the Hawkins Lab, conditioned into following every command her brain heard. She managed to escape the lab, with the help of her little sister Eleven, and was taken in by Hopper. Now, it’s a year later, and the three of them are a happy family. She just got her first job, where she works alongside Steve “The Hair” Harrington… who her father doesn’t much like.
Warnings: Swearing
Word Count: 1,570
Notes: Part one! Here we gooo!
prologue
“Bye Hopper!” You called, giving the old grump sitting in his Lazy Boy a kiss on the top of his head.
“Bye, Kid. Be safe.”
“You know I always am. And please, don’t spy on them all day.” You said, referring to El and Mike, alone in the bedroom the two of you shared.
“Eh. No guarantees. Have a good first day.”
“Thanks.” And, with that, you were out of the house. You didn’t know how to drive yet, so you had to leave extra early to be able to walk all the way to the Starcourt Mall, where you’d be on your feet for a couple more hours, before walking home again.
This was your first day at the ice cream place, and you were psyched to say the least. Your uniform was in your bag so you could change there--no way in hell you were walking over wearing it, listening to your Walkman and excited beyond words to start being a normal teenager.
When you got to Scoops Ahoy, you walked up to the girl who had previously met when your boss interviewed you. Her name was Robin, and she greeted you with a kind smile.
“Hey (Y/N)! First day, right?” You just nodded, still not super comfortable with human interactions yet… even though you were about to work in customer service. “Well, I should introduce you to our shift partner, Lord Himbo himself, Mr. Steve Harrington.”
The shudders behind her opened, revealing a guy with very… tall hair. He had on a wide smile, which dropped when he saw your face. He replaced it quickly, though, and Robin didn’t even seem to notice. You for sure did, though.
“Hi there. Steve Harrington.”
“I’m (Y/N).” You said quietly. You held up your bag with the uniform in it and asked, “Is there a…”
“Yeah, there are bathrooms in the back,” Robin replied. You thanked her, went, and got changed.
And your shift had begun. Honestly, it was pretty easy. Robin and Steve worked like a well-oiled machine, you could pretty much sit back, watch, and take notes in your mind.
When your shift was almost over, you and Robin were at the counter together, making awkward small talk, when a boy with dark hair came up and rang the bell repeatedly, continuing after you had acknowledged his presence. He looked familiar, you just couldn’t place the face.
Robin sighed. “Hey, Dingus! Your children are here!”
Steve opened the back window. “Again? Seriously?” The boy said nothing, and just hit the bell again. “Alright, come on. Don’t let people see you.” Steve said, ushering them into the back.
“Hey! Mike!” You said cheerfully, smiling at him. He just looked at you and gave an awkward smile.
“Steve sometimes likes to use his privileges here to help his friends that are like eighth graders for some reason.”
“Yeah… that’s my little sister’s boyfriend.”
And things were back to normal, until the lights flickered and went out a few minutes later. You jumped slightly, remembering all the times lights flickering were associated with otherworldly things. You had to remind yourself now, that these lights were just lights.
“That’s weird.” Steve mumbled. He went and flicked the light switch, but nothing happened.
Robin crossed her arms. “That isn’t gonna work, Dingus.”
“Oh really?” Steve asked, before flicking the light as fast as he could.
“I don’t think they’re turning back on.” You whispered, hugging your arms to yourself.
Steve groaned and put his hands on his hips, assessing the situation. “Alright. You guys can go home, if you want. Shifts are almost over, I can cover until we close.”
“Hey, thanks, doof.” Robin said. You nodded in agreement and went into the bathroom to change with Robin. “So, how was your first day?”
“Good.”
“You’re not much of a talker, are you?”
You shrugged. “I talk when I want.”
“Do you want a ride home? If all the lights are out, it’s gonna be a difficult walk.”
You shook your head. “That’s alright.”
Robin laughed. “Nah, come on. Let me give you a ride home.”
Your brain went fuzzy, as it did whenever you heard a command. You couldn’t think or do anything, and you heard the words “Okay, thank you,” come out of your mouth.
When you two finished changing, you bid Steve farewell, and Robin drove you home. It was a nice drive. She mostly talked about the mall: what to expect from the job, how to read different customers, the works. When she dropped you off, she made a joke about you living in the middle of nowhere. You did your best to laugh.
“Thanks for the ride.”
“Don’t mention it.” Okay, you wouldn’t. “I’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?”
“Yeah.”
---
The next day was the same. You walked to work, changed, and tried your best to help out. Steve tried flirting with different customers, but the uniform, along with the cocky personality, set him back far too much.
Just as another pretty girl walked away, giggling to her friend, Robin opened the back window and slid a whiteboard into view. You walked over from the corner to see what it said. It was a T-chart, with “YOU RULE” with an empty column under it, and “YOU SUCK” with five tally marks.
“And another one bites the dust,” Robin said, drawing another tally mark. Steve just scoffed. “You are oh-for-six, Popeye.”
“Yeah, yeah, I can count.” Steve retaliated.
“You know that means you suck.” You said, laughing.
Steve glared at you. Robin laughed. “Exactly!”
“Yeah, I can read too!” He huffed.
Robin put the whiteboard away. “Since when?”
“It’s this stupid hat. I’m telling you, it’s totally blowing my best feature.”
You paused. “Which is…?”
“My hair!”
“Yeah, company policy is a real drag.” Robin said, leaning through the window. You moved to stand next to Steve, so you were all around the window. How cute. “You know, it’s a crazy idea, but have you considered telling the truth?”
“Oh, you mean that I couldn’t even get into Tech and my douchebag dad’s trying to teach me a lesson, I make three bucks an hour, and I have no future? Hm? That truth?
“People don’t always like the truth.” You said, knowing from your stupid curse.
“Ah, shut up.” Steve groaned. Damn it. You hated it when people said that, because you couldn’t talk until they left, or until you were told another command. El used this tactic whenever the two of you would fight, since she couldn’t really leave, you couldn’t talk.
“Hey, twelve o’clock.” Robin said, pointing behind the two of you. You looked behind you, at the cash register, and a group of pretty girls were walking up.
“Oh shit. Oh shit. Okay, uh… I’m going in. And you know what?” Steve took off his hat and threw it at Robin. “Screw company policy.”
“My god, you’re a whole new man.” Robin said sarcastically. You quickly went and joined Robin in the back, watching Steve with her.
“Ahoy ladies!” Steve yelled, making the girl in front yelp. “Didn’t see you there! Would you guys like to set sail on this ocean of flavor with me? I’ll be your captain. I’m Steve Harrington.” The girls laughed nervously. You and Robin just watched in awe. “Can I get you guys a little taste of the Cherries Jubilee? No? Anybody? Banana Boat? Four people, four spoons? Share it in the booth? Anybody? It’s hot out there!”
Robin rolled her eyes and added a seventh tally to the board.
The girls just laughed and walked away. Steve groaned, running his hands over his face. “Damn it!” He said, joining the two of you in the back. “What’s wrong with me?” He asked, looking at you.
Robin laughed. “Yeah, (Y/N), tell him what’s wrong with him.”
Your brain went fuzzy and you heard yourself say, “You hold yourself to a standard you can’t meet.”
Steve looked surprised and Robin snickered. “Shit, too real.” Her head perked up when she heard the bell being rung by a customer. “Be right back, guys.” She left the two of you back there, alone for the first time.
“Sorry.” You said.
“Nah, nah. I did ask. I’m just… Where do I know you from? Did you go to Hawkins High?” You shook your head. “Do you have a sibling at the middle school? I might have seen you.”
“No. Do you?”
“Well, no, but I have a friend who goes there. I don’t know, maybe I might have seen you while dropping him off.”
“My little sister’s dating Mike Wheeler.” You said, remembering that Steve took Mike into the back room the previous day.
“Mike’s girlfriend… El. Wait, El?! Your sister is Eleven?!” You nodded. “That’d make you one of the-”
Robin opened the window. “Hey, dingus, there’s a girl here who you might have a shot with.” You looked up and saw a girl walking in. Oh, you understood the joke. She’s in middle school.
“Ha ha. Very funny.” Steve said, rolling his eyes. Robin shrugged and closed the window. There was a long pause. “Are you?” He asked quietly. You held out your wrist reluctantly. “009.” Steve read to himself. “Fuck. You got out?” You nodded. He let out a breathy laugh. “Shit. Well then,” he said, drawing up two chairs to the little table back there. “Tell me your story.”
Fuzzy mind.

Lucas Friar moved back to Texas at 17, now he’s running for Mayor of Rosewood Springs so best friend Zay and little sister Gigi decide he needs a little help from a political consultant. Riley Matthews found her calling, she found a fiancé, but she never expected to find herself here, of all places.

Author Note: Seriously thank you so much to everyone who is still reading this, you guys are amazing in ways you will never know. Something comes up in this chapter that I 100% have planned for a while, I was writing the scene when I saw the news tweet about it and was like eek! Oh, I’ve got a reader survey going and it would be amazing if you could take the time to fill it out. Everything is 100% anonymous, I’m just a little curious about a few things so I thought why not ask. So if you fill that out, thank you!
-loss of my innocence-
“Come on guys get this room cleaned up.” Riley looked at the crew that had been working on the renovations of the lodge.
“Yes Boss, we should have the room cleaned up in twenty minutes or so. We’re just finishing to install the television, and we’ll get this place cleared up.”
“Thank you.” She smiled, “We start painting tomorrow.”
“We’ll be cleaned up and ready for you to paint.” The foreman told her.
She rubbed her forehead, “Thank you Alec, I know I gave you guys a short deadline but you’ve been great so far.”
“Well we want the rest of the jobs, we know if we mess up you’ll replace us.” Alec shot her a smile before he finished with the television, turning it on, “Should be good to go.”
“Thanks” Riley took the remote control from him and turned the set on, pulling up her favorite cable news channel.
“Your patrons will want to watch sports.” Her husband’s smooth voice danced in her ear as he wrapped his arms around her.
“I’m just making sure the TV works.” She leaned into him, “You this anxious to go to the football game tonight?”
“Riley, this is Texas, it’s Friday night, we do football.” He smirked, “Haven’t you figured that out yet?”
“I have,” she smiled as she put the remote down behind the bar, “How’s this look so far?’
“Amazing, and it’ll look even better once it’s painted, and you have actual guests.”
“We’re on schedule for a Valentine’s Day opening.” She ran her hands through her hair as she looked at her husband, “You ready for tonight? Things are really picking up; the election is barely a month away.”
“I sure am, the trunk is full of buttons and stuff. I also have a basket of stuff for dinner, I got your hoodie in the car.”
Riley paused for a moment as she looked around, “I gotta get my purse from the office. Give me a minute.”
“No problem.” Lucas turned his focus to the news as Riley left.
“And today in New York, son of business mogul Stuart Minkus, Farkle Minkus announced his candidacy for the recently vacant seat in the Senate.”
“Is that Farkle?” Riley’s voice was cloaked in bitterness.
Lucas turned to his wife, her eyes wide with a fire he’d never seen before, “Looks like it.”
“That fucking asshole!” She threw her purse down on the ground, “He and his wife, force me out of the business I built, the business I worked my ass off at, the business where I subjected myself to months, years really away from my family and friends, and then he runs for office?”
Lucas put his hands on her shoulders, “Hey, honey, you have every right to be upset.”
“I don’t understand why they forced me out, this isn’t what they told me.” She blinked back the tears in her eyes.
Lucas pulled her towards him, he could feel her tears already seeping into his t-shirt, “Farkle hasn’t returned any of my calls, and Zay said he hasn’t spoken to either of them since right before you went to New York.”
Riley pulled back, wiping her eyes, looking up to see Farkle on the screen giving a speech, and then she saw the chyron at the bottom, IRSM Consulting dissolved in August. Riley Lawrence left the company to move Texas and start a new project outside of politics.
“Why are they even mentioning you?” Lucas looked back at the screen.
“I don’t know none of this makes sense.” She picked up her purse and stared digging through her purse for her phone.
“Today the FDA announced a recall for the birth-control ComHil.”
Riley froze, as she looked up at the TV again. Her mind racing as she held her phone in her hand.
“Ri, you okay honey?”
“Yeah, um, found my phone. I’m going to call Maya in the car, see what she knows.”
Lucas cupped her face giving her a smile, “Hey, you know what as much as it hurts, as much as it stings that Farkle and Smackle did you dirty like this, but they freed you as well, think about it. You decided, you choose to come here, to be with me, to build a life with me.”
Riley gazed into his green eyes for a moment, “That is true.”
“So, you call Maya, see what she knows and I will get us to the football field.”
“You are the best. How did I get so lucky to find you?”
“The subway jolted and I pulled you into my lap.” He smirked before reaching around the bar for the remote and turning off the TV.
She took a deep breath, trying to relax herself even though she had far too many thoughts running through her head. She had to find out what was going on with Farkle and Smackle, why they had lied to her.
Lucas guided her out of the lodge and to his SUV, he knew she was upset, he couldn’t blame her for being so. He didn’t understand why Smackle and Farkle did what they had, and he couldn’t fathom why. The thing that really got him was that they lied to her, even what she told him when she finally had, didn’t feel right.
He took a deep breath before opening the driver’s side door, he could already hear her talking to Maya.
“What is going on with Farkle, what the hell are he and Smackle up to?”
“I don’t know Riles, they won’t talk to us and I’ve been trying. I even went to the offices, which FYI are all closed up. It’s like creepy abandoned.” Maya’s voice came over the speaker phone almost causing Lucas to jump as he started the engine. “Riles, where are you? Please don’t be driving right now.”
“I’m in the car, but Lucas is driving.”
“Hi Maya.” He glanced to Riley, sure her best friend as going to have a snarky comment.
“Whoa he speaks, I was starting to wonder.” Maya teased. “So, what are you to up to, a hayride or something like that?”
“Football game, it’s Friday night. What are you doing?”
“Movie night, we’re watching Trolls—again, Fallon and Drew love it. One day Riley you’re going to get married and have kids, and it’s not football games or square dancing or whatever it is you all do down there, it’s sitting at home watching something off Netflix for the fifteenth time that week.”
Lucas smirked, he couldn’t help but enjoy the knowledge that Maya didn’t know he and Riley were already married, “I don’t know Maya, that kind of sounds like our Saturday nights, we watched Trolls just last week.”
“Ugh, you would Ranger Rick.”
“Blast from the past.” Lucas chuckled, as he turned into the entrance for the high school. It was still early and he found a good spot quickly.
“Maya, will you please just ask Farkle what his damage is if he does talk to you. They haven’t taken my calls, or answered my emails.”
“I’ll do what I can. But they’re avoiding all of us.”
Riley sighed as she watched Lucas get out of the truck, “I don’t like the way they did this. What gets me is, if they had really just talked to me, we could’ve worked something out.”
“But would you have the settlement you got?”
“The money doesn’t matter to me, okay, yeah its allowed me to do a few things that I might not have been able to otherwise, but it just feels dirty, it did then, but even more so now.” She heard the trunk open, she glanced back to her husband, “I gotta go and play devoted fiancé.”
“Get married already, Lucas ask her to marry you.”
Riley chuckled, “Good night Maya.” She hung up before her friend could continue.
Lucas laughed as he unloaded stuff from the trunk, “She’s gonna kill us.”
Riley shrugged as she got out of the car, “I like what we have, it works for us.”
“It sure does.” He gave her a quick kiss as he pulled out the picnic cooler, “Ready?”
“Ready.” She took his hand, and picked up the bag of campaign swag before they moved to the high school.
Gigi sat in the doctor’s office, chewing her thumbnail as she waited for the doctor to return. She felt like each minute that went by took an hour.
A nurse came in to check on her, offering a supportive smile, “Dr. McGuire will be with you in just a few minutes, it’s a little crazy today.”
“Thanks” Gigi wished she had brought a magazine with her, this couldn’t take too long, but the nerves were building. She tried to think, if she was, what were the possibilities.
She couldn’t remember if she and Deacon had used condoms early on, the only time she knew she’d used them in the last few months was the night with Zay.
At least if she was she didn’t have to worry about who the father was.
She rubbed her hands over her face, her heart racing, how had things gotten to this point?
“Okay Gigi,” The doctor popped her red-haired head into the room, “you ready?”
“I sure am Aunt Rachel.” She sighed watched the older woman come into the room.
Rachel sat down on the stool and looked over the chart, “Good news, you’re not pregnant.”
“Oh, thank God.” Gigi breathed, “I mean I didn’t think I was, but with the recall of my birth control, I figured I should check.”
“Good idea, I’m guessing you and the fiancé have been active.”
“I haven’t told Mom yet Aunt Rachel, please don’t tell her. I’m waiting for when she and Dad come into town for the holidays.”
“Oh, don’t worry, I won’t say a word to my sister.” She looked back down at the chart making a note, “So I’m going to try you out on a different prescription, but I do suggest either wait a week, or use a condom until then.”
“Okay, I can handle that.” Gigi slipped off the table and started getting dressed again.
“How’s Lucas, I know I haven’t been around much.”
“Aunt Rachel, we know you’re busy, besides you were off helping women who needed it. You’re an inspiration.”
Rachel rolled her eyes at her niece, “You don’t have to suck up, I won’t tell your Mom.”
“No, I mean it.” Gigi shrugged, “And Lucas is good, he’s very happy with Riley and campaigning, and planning his wedding for March.”
Rachel looked up from writing out the prescription, “Wait, hold up, Lucas is engaged?”
“Oh right, you just got back like a week ago.” Gigi cringed, “Lucas is engaged to Riley Matthews.”
“Wait, the girl from New York?”
“Yeah, her, they’re beyond happy.”
“How did that happen, I thought she was working in politics thanks to her Uncle Eric.”
Gigi stared at her Aunt, “How do you know that, Lucas didn’t.”
“Eric must’ve mentioned it.” Rachel shrugged.
“Wait, you know her Uncle?”
“Yeah” Rachel looked at her niece, “We were college roommates. So, she and Lucas are engaged huh?”
“Yeah something like that.” Gigi grabbed her purse, “I gotta go fill this prescription, meet them and Deacon at the football game, are you coming by tonight?”
“Actually,” Rachel gave her niece a smile, “I think I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Okay, have a good night Aunt Rachel.”
“I’ll be right back.” Lucas gave Riley a kiss on the cheek just as Gigi was sitting down next to her.
“You guys really are sappy.” Gigi groaned.
Riley ignored her, “Where are you going?”
“I left the hoodies in the car and the air is starting to chill, I’ll be back in a few minutes.”
“Okay, we’ll be here.” Riley watched him for a moment before turning to Gigi, “Where did you disappear to?”
“Doctor, I had to get a new prescription for birth control.”
Riley turned to her concerned, “Why, what was wrong with what you were using, wait you were using something right Gigi?”
“Yes, but the stuff I was on got recalled, some mess up in the manufacturing or something. But Aunt Rachel got me on something new.”
“Wow my Doctor is named Rachel as well,” Riley looked out to the field, “My Uncle is like best friends with her, so I have an appointment next week just for a checkup and stuff.”
“Rachel McGuire?”
“Yeah, why?”
“That’s our Aunt.” Gigi shrugged, “Small world, huh?”
“Yeah, it is.”
“Okay, thank God I had these or Mrs. Miller was going to talk my ear off.” Lucas sat next to his wife and handed her the hoodie he’d been carrying.
“Oh thanks.” Riley took it, and pulled it on realizing immediately it was brand new, not the Abigail Adams High one she’d been wearing since she got to town. She looked down and saw Rosewood Springs printed on front, “Lucas what is this?”
“I know it’s not the hoodie, but I thought since you live here now, and we’re at a Rosewood Springs game, it might be better if you wore something from here.” He waited, hoping he hadn’t done the wrong thing.
Riley took a deep breath, “I love it Lucas, it just doesn’t smell like you.”
He put his arm around her, “Yeah well, it’ll smell like you.”
Riley breathed in his scent, “This will just have to do.”
Gigi made a gagging sound, “You guys are awful.”
Lucas looked up to his sister, “Yeah cause you and Deacon aren’t full on with the public displays of affection.”
Gigi blushed, “We are nowhere near as bad as you two.”
Deacon slipped in the seat next to Gigi, “What’s the score?”
She turned to her fiancé, “It hasn’t started yet, you got here before kickoff.”
“Awesome.” He looked to his boss and his fiancé, “Hello guys, hey could I got a new Vote for Lucas button? Mine got destroyed on a house call this morning.”
Lucas looked at the younger man, “Of course, what happened?”
“Mitzy the goat tried to eat it.” Deacon looked down, “I had it pinned to the shoulder strap of my bag. I set the bag down while I was examining Trixy and when I looked over Mitzy had the pin her mouth.”
Lucas’ mouth hung open, “I have no words, but you’ll have more stories like that as the years go on.”
“I’ll give you a bag of pins to keep in case you have another run-in with goats.” Riley shook her head as the PA system blared with an announcement.
The crowd around them came alive as the band began to play cheerleaders began to cheer.
Riley was still getting used to this part of her new life. She loved watching the enthusiasm of the crowd, it could be intoxicating. In high school, she hadn’t gone to many sporting events after Lucas left. She’d thrown herself into her work at the bakery, saving every penny she could, studying.
Never in a million years had she expected to be here. As she felt Lucas put his arm around her, pulling her close to him she couldn’t imagine being anywhere else for the rest of her life.
Gigi breathed a sigh of relief as she parked her car, thinking about her appointment earlier as she got out to run into the house and grab a few things before going over to Deacon’s.
It was easier each day, the more time she spent at his place, the less chance she had of running into Zay, though from the sounds of it he was spending more and more time at the apartment above the bar then here.
The door flew open just before Gigi could put her key in to unlock it, as her eyes adjusted to the sudden bright light flooding from inside she gulped.
She stepped inside after glancing to see if Riley and Lucas were home, but she didn’t see either of their cars.
“Georgianna Darcy Friar, where on earth have you been?” The voice was accusing, harsh, but also loving as well.
She turned to the door of Lucas’ office and saw her mother Bonnie Friar, with her strawberry blonde hair in a classic bob cut, a nice pantsuit for her flight so she looked put together but still comfortable.
“Mom, it’s Friday night I was at the football game.” She moved to give her mother a hug, wondering why no one told her she was coming, “Lucas didn’t mention you were coming.”
Bonnie waved her hand, “He doesn’t know.” She moved around the house, running her hands over the furniture expecting to leave trails in the dust only to discover she didn’t, “I see your housekeeping skills have improved.”
“Oh that wouldn’t be me keeping house.” Gigi slipped her left hand into the pocket of her jacket, “So where’s Dad?”
“Upstairs taking a shower, we had a long flight from London.” Bonnie paused at a picture on the mantle, “What is this doing out, I didn’t know Lucas still had pictures of her.”
Gigi looked at the picture of Lucas and Riley, it was from high school, a dance, they were posed together, gazing into each other’s eyes. “They look so in love in that picture.”
“High school romance, they never would’ve made it to graduation if we’d stayed in New York.” Bonnie put the picture down, “Riley was always a bit spacy. You know has your brother given Dixie a chance.”
“No, Lucas is never giving Dixie a chance.” Gigi rolled her eyes when her mother turned away, “Dixie is a psycho-bitch.”
“She is a very nice young lady, from a very well-respected family here in town, they own the property right next to ours.”
Gigi paused for a moment, “They used to, it has new owners, who are working to revitalize the property, and create a better resort.”
“Pish-posh Gigi, the Carmichael’s especially Dixie did quite well with it.”
“I would love to stick around and see how this all plays out, but I’m going to go get some stuff before I leave.” Gigi started going towards the stairs.
“Gigi, where do you think you’re going? It’s late where could a respectable girl like yourself be going this late at night?”
Gigi straightened up, “Over to Deacon Hughes house where I’m going to crawl into bed with him, probably have sex, and spend the night.”
Bonnie reached for her daughter, “Like hell you are! Is this what happens when we leave you in your brother’s care, you become the town slut?”
“Sorry Mom, I don’t think spending the night with my fiancé is going to make me the town slut.” Gigi held her left hand up, “So yeah being in Lucas’ care has left me with finding the man I’m going to marry.”
Bonnie’s face shadowed over, “You’re engaged and didn’t tell me Gigi, but why?”
“I knew you wouldn’t approve, besides it’s not like you care. You call but mostly talk to me for like two minutes before asking to talk to Lucas again.” Gigi started up the stairs, ignoring her mother following her.
“Gigi, talk to me.” Bonnie pleaded as she watched her daughter stuff clothes into her bag and grab a few things, it was then that she realized how empty the room had become, her daughter was slowly moving in with this man.
“I have to go Mom, but hey I’m sure you’ll have plenty to talk to Lucas about.” Gigi pushed past her as she moved down the stairs, going straight out the front door just as Riley and Lucas were coming p the steps, “Good luck.”
“With what?” Lucas called out before turning around and seeing his mother in the doorway. “Mom?”
Bonnie stopped going after Gigi when she saw her son, wondering how he could have the audacity to bring a woman home. But as they came up the last step she realized who was with him.
She looked to her son, “I cannot believe you have the stupidity to have this girl here. What are you doing Lucas, you will never become the Mayor if you have this New York trash on your arm. I thought you were smarter than that Lucas, I thought you would finally wise up and realize that it’s time to settle down with a good southern girl. You what decided to open old wounds and bring back this simple little waif?”
Riley was stunned, she’d always thought Mrs. Friar liked her.
Lucas couldn’t believe what his mother was saying, he could only imagine what she’d said to Gigi.
“What do you have to say for yourself Lucas?” Bonnie kept her eyes on her son, she had expected him to say something back to her.
“I want to say it’s good to see you Mom, I do wish you had called before coming. But how dare you speak to Riley like that. What the hell is wrong with you?”
“Get this trash out of my house Lucas.” Bonnie went to the door.
Lucas blinked, “Actually Mom, this is my house. Riley lives here with me. If you have a problem with her, get the fuck over it, or find someplace else to stay.”

With earlier mentioned 100 million in list sales, the Eagles epitomized commercial Southern California rock in the 1970s, and their appeal continues undiminished decades later. As of late 2007, Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975, a 1976 best-of that was the first album ever certified platinum, is the best-selling album of all time in the U.S., its 29 million copies outstripping the previous champ, Michael Jackson’s Thriller (27 million). The group’s well-crafted songs merged countryish vocal harmonies with hard-rock guitars and lyrics that were alternately yearning (“One of These Nights,” “Best of My Love”) and romantically jaded (“Life in the Fast Lane,” “Hotel California”). During the band’s hugely successful career, it had an increasingly indolent recording schedule until its breakup in the fall of 1980. Subsequently, every single of the members pursued solo careers, with Henley’s the most successful commercially and critically. In the 1990s, the band’s sound was frequently cited as an influence by young country stars and culminated with the band’s reunion in 1994. The Eagles continue to be one of clean millennium’s most successful bands.
The group originally coalesced from L.A.’s country-rock community. Before producer John Boylan assembled them as Linda Ronstadt’s backup band on her album Silk Purse (1970), the four original Eagles were already experienced professionals. Leadon had played in the Dillard and Clark Expedition and the Flying Burrito Brothers; Meisner, with Poco and Rick Nelson’s Stone Canyon Band. Frey had played with various Detroit rock bands (including Bob Seger’s) and Longbranch Pennywhistle (with J.D. Souther, a sometime songwriting partner), and Henley had been with a transplanted Texas group, Shiloh. After working with Ronstadt, Henley and Frey decided to form the Eagles, recruiting Leadon and Meisner.
Intending to take the country rock of the Byrds and Burritos a step further toward hard rock, the Eagles recorded their first album with producer Glyn Johns (Rolling Stones, the Who) in England. “Take It Easy” (Number 12, 1972), written by Frey and Jackson Browne, went gold before long after its release, as did their album. (Another single, “Witchy Woman,” reached Number Nine that year.) Desperado was a concept album with enough of a plot line to encourage rumors of a movie version. The LP yielded no major pop hits, but its title track, a ballad penned by Henley and Frey, has become a classic rock standard, covered by Linda Ronstadt, among others. With On the Border, the Eagles changed producers, bringing in Bill Szymczyk (who worked on all subsequent albums through 1982’s Greatest Hits Vol. 2) and adding Felder, who had recorded with Flow in Gainesville, Florida (and who once gave guitar lessons to another Gainesville native, Tom Petty), then became a session guitarist and studio engineer in New York, Boston, and L.A.
The increased emphasis on rock attracted far more listeners — mid-1970s hits included “Best of My Love” (Number One, 1975), “One of These Nights” (Number One, 1975), “Lyin’ Eyes” (Number Two, 1975), and “Take It to the Limit” (Number Four, 1975) — but alienated Leadon. After One of These Nights, Leadon left the band to form the Bernie Leadon-Michael Georgiades Band, which released Natural Progressions in 1977. (Leadon went on to become a Nashville session musician, and in the 1990s formed Run-C&W, a jokester group who played a blend of country and R&B.)
Leadon was replaced by Joe Walsh, who had established himself with the James Gang and on his own. His Eagles debut, Hotel California, was their third consecutive Number One album (the second was their record-breaking 1976 greatest-hits compilation). “New Kid in Town” (Number One, 1976), the title cut (Number One, 1977), and “Life in the Fast Lane” (#11, 1977) spurred sales of more than 16 million copies worldwide.
Meisner left in 1977, replaced by Schmit, who had similarly replaced him in Poco. Meisner has released the solo albums Randy Meisner (1978) and One More Song (1980), and (yes) Randy Meisner (1982). (In 1981, he toured with the Silveradoes; later, in 1990, Meisner reemerged in a group called Black Tie, alongside Billy Swan and Bread’s James Griffin.) Henley and Frey sang backup on One More Song, and in the late 1970s they also appeared on album by Bob Seger and Randy Newman. In 1981 Henley duetted with Stevie Nicks on the Number Six single “Leather and Lace.”
Between outside projects and legal entanglements, it took the Eagles two years and $1 million to make the multi-platinum LP The Long Run. The album included the hit singles “Heartache Tonight” (Number One, 1979), “The Long Run” (Number Eight, 1980), and “I Can’t Tell You Why” (Number One, 1980).
Walsh continued to release solo albums, though his biggest hit to date has been 1978’s cheeky “Life’s Been Good” (Number 12). Felder and Schmit also put out their own albums and contributed songs to film soundtracks. Schmit’s second LP, Timothy B, included “Boys Night Out” (Number 25, 1987).
In 1982 Henley and Frey both embarked on solo careers. Frey charted with “The One You Love” (Number 15, 1982) and “Sexy Girl” (Number 20, 1984) before a movie proved his ticket into the Top Ten: “The Heat Is On,” featured in Beverly Hills Cop, shot to Number Two in 1985. Frey followed this success by becoming an actor, making a guest appearance as a drug dealer on the popular TV series Miami Vice. The episode was based on a track from his album The Allnighter, “Smuggler’s Blues,” which consequently reached Number 12 (1985). Later in 1985, Frey’s “You Belong to the City” hit Number Two. While still dabbling in acting with roles in the short-lived TV series South of Sunset, the movie Jerry Maguire, and a guest spot on the Don Johnson post-Miami Vice series Nash Bridges in the 1990s, Frey also co-founded a music label, Mission Records, in 1997.
Ultimately, though, Henley was the ex-Eagle who garnered the greatest chart success, and the most critical acclaim as well. His “Dirty Laundry” (from his first solo effort, I Can’t Stand Still) made it to Number Three, but the 1985 solo album Building the Perfect Beast was to be his true arrival as solo hit maker and respected singer/songwriter. The kickoff single, “The Boys of Summer,” went to Number Five — supported by an evocative black-and-white video that fast became an MTV favorite — and earned Henley a Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Performance; the hits “All She Wants to Do Is Dance” (Number Nine, 1985) and “Sunset Grill” Number 22, 1985) followed. A third album, The End of the Innocence (1989), created a Number Eight (1989) title track, and the additional singles “The Last Worthless Evening” and “The Heart of the Matter,” which both hit Number 21. The LP won Henley another Grammy, in the same category as before.
In the early 1990s, he sought release from his Geffen Records contract, initiating a long and bitter legal dispute. After participating in the release of a solo best-of album in 1995, Henley was freed from his contract. Five years later, he released a solo album of all-new material, Inside Job (co-produced by former Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers drummer Stan Lynch), and embarked on a solo tour to support it. Henley married for the first time in May 1995 and had three children before releasing Inside Job. This life-altering change for the longtime bachelor resulted in a new theme in his songwriting; a lot of of Inside Job’s tracks were clearly about marriage and family, including the gentle ballad “Taking You Home” (Number 58 pop, Number One Adult Contemporary, 2000). Much of the rest of the album, however, still explored Henley’s cynicism toward the business world and the media.
In 1990 Henley founded the Walden Woods Project, dedicated to preserving historic lands around Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts (where Henry David Thoreau and others reflected and wrote), from corporate development. Among the singer’s various fund-raising means were holding charity concerts, featuring other top rock artists, and donating proceeds from some of his own recordings, including a reggae version of the Guys and Dolls standard “Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat” (1993). In 1993 the Walden Woods Project got a big increase from Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles, coordinated by Henley and featuring Clint Black, Trisha Yearwood, Travis Tritt, and others.
In 1994, after years of fielding off reunion rumors, Henley, Frey, Walsh, Felder, and Schmit — who had appeared together in the video for Tritt’s version of “Take It Easy” — hit the road for a massively successful concert tour. The tour went on hiatus toward the end of 1994, due to Frey’s gastrointestinal surgery, but it continued in 1995. In November 1994, the band released Hell Freezes Over, which featured four new songs, including the singles “Get Over It” (Number 31, 1994), “Love Will Keep Us Alive” (Number One Adult Contemporary, 1994), “Learn to Be Still” (Number 15 Adult Contemporary, 1995), and 11 of the old hits culled from the band’s 1994 live appearance on MTV. Within months the reunion LP had sold more than 10 million copies and gone to Number One on the pop album chart.
In 1998 the Eagles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. All seven members of the band performed together for the first time at the induction ceremony. The core members of the group — the ones who had recorded and toured together in the mid-1990s — reunited again for a few concerts at the end of 1999, including a New Year’s Eve show in L.A. A four-CD retrospective set, Eagles 1972-1999: Selected Works (Number 109) was issued in November 2000. In February 2001, the Eagles fired Felder, who retaliated by suing the band, its organization, and Henley and Frey individually; the latter pair countersued. (Felder later wrote a book about his time in the band, Heaven and Hell, which was published in the U.K. in November 2007.) The case was settled out of court in May 2007.
In 2003, The Very Best of the Eagles was released, covering the band’s full 1970s output as well as the new single “Hole in the World.” In 2007, Eagles released its first all-new album in 28 years, the double-CD Long Road Out of Eden, exclusively through Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, and Eagles.com in the U.S. It debuted at Number One on the Billboard chart. The band continued to tour successfully through 2008.

My LGBT MML headcanons
I’ve shared some of these on AO3 but not everyone has seen my AO3 so I’m putting this here
Milo is bi and nonbinary. Gender wise, nonbinary is simply the closest word he has to describe himself but otherwise describes himself as ‘just Milo’. He has no preference whatsoever for pronouns. Murphy’s Law seems to know what his gender is each day even when he doesn’t, because much like when he is sick it ebbs a bit when he feels more feminine.
I see Zack as some form of MLM. Probably questioning at the moment, though. He seems very much like the gay panic type to me (because let’s be real, he’s always panicking).
Melissa is a lesbian who HATES gender roles. I can kinda see her as being cool with she/they pronouns, but my gender headcanon for her is still uncertain.
I know the popular headcanon is that Dakota is bi, but my take is that he’s gay. I personally can’t see him being genuinely attracted to a woman, but I’m not here to judge those who can. Also his t guy swag levels are off the charts. (I am a trans guy and I want his gender so badly so the trans Dakota hc gives me so much joy)
Similar to my headcanon for Dakota, my sexuality headcanon for Cavendish goes against what I’ve seen from others and to me he’s bi. He just doesn’t realize it for a long time due to being autistic. I also love to think he’s nonbinary with a changing pronoun preference, and doesn’t conform to what cis people expect from a nonbinary person. (He keeps his first name and facial hair)
Doof is the trans and bi divorced dad icon we all need. I feel no elaboration is needed.
Now that I think about it, I see every Murphy as bi. We stan a family of disaster bis! Also, what is it with married Dwampyverse men in particular having bi wife energy? (Looking at Martin and Lawrence)
Basically, if a character has shown clear and constant heterosexual attraction, they are most likely bi to me. Also, the only person I can think of at the top of my head as 100% cishet is Orton Mahlson. My main reason being how he saw Cavendish and Dakota’s interactions and p much went “What’s better than this, just guys being dudes”
Gonna get some supporting characters all in one go so this post doesn’t get too long. Amanda is bi. Mort & Chad are gay. Elliot is pan and trans. Mr. Drako is gay and trans. Veronica is WLW. Bradley is gay and doesn’t know it. Brick and Savannah are gay and lesbian solidarity. I’m not talking about Ms. Murawski.
