Suddenly I thought of a fanfic where despite being expelled, Lucien ends up being chosen by magic and becomes the high lord of autumn 🤌🏻. Where did I get that from? I don't know.

Basically, Beron dies in these encounters he has with Bryalin (something like that, I didn't really think about how he would die) and she expected to be able to use the crown on Eris, but magic chose Lucien, who is currently Rhysand's emissary. Lucien is shocked but has nothing to do. Eris is 👁️👄👁️, but then calms down because in the end he is not the one who will administer the territory. And everyone is like 😱😱, because it's no secret that Lucien has a lot of contacts, that he himself is a VERY good advisor, the man is a complete package of skills for a high lord.

The Night Court again tries to use Elain to have an alliance, to get something, to take things from the Autumn... But they don't hide it well and Elain, who did nothing to be "sold" in this way, ends up having the bond denied because Lucien spent a lot of time traveling through the Autumn (I think he says this in book 1 or 3?) because he didn't have lands to manage like his brothers. He knows everything, and in book 3 he basically seemed to blend into the scenery. That's it, Lucien, high lord of the Autumn Court.

E todo mundo fica fica 😱😱, porque não é segredo que Lucien tem vários contatos, que ele em si é um conselheiro MUITO bom, o homem é um pacote completo de habilidades para alto lorde.

A corte noturna tenta usar Elain para ter uma aliança, conseguir algo, tirar coisas do outono... Mas eles não disfarçam bem e Elain, que nada fez para ser "vendida" dessa forma, acaba tendo o laço negado porque Lucien passou muito tempo viajando pelo outono (acho que ele diz isso no livro 1 ou no 3?) porque ele não tinha terras para administrar como os irmãos. Ele conhece tudo, e no 3 livro ele basicamente pareceu se fundir com o cenário. É isto, Lucien grão senhor da corte do outono.

OMG THANK YOUUUUUUU. This made me so happy, you don't even know. That chapter was SO cathartic to me. They're finally happy, and figuring shit out, and it's so beautiful. To add my thoughts on this (because I have spent some time thinking about it since Nora's response)

I think my biggest problem back in the day was the "Oh they only have the physical intimacy and exy" in the EC that set me off. Even if it does fit Kevin's character (in the sad way of thinking that he never emotionally matures past his trauma and is always just focused on Exy), I've always been a happy-ending idealist sucker so I wanted to hope that he would end up in a relationship with someone where he'd have the whole package deal.

Nora absolutely did not have to go out and defend one of her characters, but her post did give clarity and made it look like less of a "Oh we are together because it's the only relationship that could work in allignment to our traumas" and more like "Yes this makes total sense actually." I do believe it's worth discussing why other characters are allowed room for redemption, but also, Thea had three lines in book and a dream, so I don't think it's entirely unfair for people to even forget she exists.

Of course, there are discussions around misogynism and racism that are 100% valid and I do think a huge reason why people were/are so against KevThea was/is because they wanted Kevin in a queer relationship (most times with white men). I'm not going to speak for the fandom, but I know I am a Kevin is bi truther, so I (now) don't care as much for the relationship he is in. I mostly care for the dynamic of someone with Kevin's background and obstacles and "It's easier to remain heterosexual" mindset to grapple the subject of sexual identity (and especially a bi person in a heterosexual relationship).

In any case, I am a multishipper (as I've mentioned quite a few times on my page) and have gotten defensive over this subject before so now that I've let all these thoughts 🤌🏻marinate🤌🏻, I used OPs post that makes some great points as a chance to aslo add to the discussion.

Anyways no one asked for my thoughts but here you have them, they are a mess and there's more nuance to be had, but Kevin, his fanon and canon interpretations and how they navigate through his trauma are very dear to me, and while I do believe in the Death of the Author, I also think that it's good to hear all sides.

Sudden tag: I respect Thea or why the Kevin/Thea relationship actually works in my opinion.

I know that many people don't like or even hate Thea, but I think Nora was being as fair as possible when she made Kevin's object of attraction an older, "independent", possibly selfish, and not in need of monogamy woman.

Muldani, like most of the characters in the trilogy, has screwed up in many ways, but there is so much negativity about her attitude towards the ongoing violence in the Evermore, although the same Kevin was one of the participants in this nightmare.

Literally each of the ravens is a traumatized person who tried to survive in the conditions available to him. And the conditions there were brutal.

Many can justify the actions of Rico (and I'm not saying this in a negative way, but as one of the main antagonists with his own motive), who was engaged in voyeurism and was the one who encouraged Kevin to sleep with Thea.

At the same time, she received a lot of hatred because of the misunderstood “fourteen” in Nora’s twitter or tumbler answers and her free spirit in relationships (reading carefully, Kevin became interested in her already as a university student).

It's just, you know, it's Kevin? Always under control, forever codependent. And then Thea appears - a strict girl, with a “rough playing style”, which later interests him.

Day certainly needs love and tenderness (and therapy), no less than Thea, but their open relationship, their “innocent little notes”, the thrown words “a little practice will make you better” - this is their way of avoidance, a way of not limiting their feelings to boundaries, in where they spent their childhood and youth.

I do think Thea and Kevin's relationship is sick, but this is the only time I believe it can work.

Two people who have gone through the same traumatic experience are automatically a complex coexistence.

But they know their purpose and realize where they stand in each other’s lives. Yes, there is no verbal concept of “love” between them, which can be observed even in the dialogues between Andrew and Neil. Nevertheless, they simply know each other’s feelings, believe and carefully cherish the moments they are together.

hi!!! YES, I have read every osemanverse book, as they’ve come out, since solitaire in 2014 (including the novellas 🤌🏻). I have simply an osemanverse shelf 😶 I love absolutely every character to be perfectly honest. I don’t think it’s a popular answer but with the novels (aside from solitaire) iwbft is probably my favourite?? that whole crew is just wonderful and bicci is one of the best osemanverse ships, simple as that. in saying that, I have a massive soft spot for aled last and his demisexuality and overall lovable-ness. in saying that, I would also give my whole life for michael holden (but like, he’s part of the tori package deal, so that probably isn’t surprising). but also the georgia-rooney platonic love story is one of the best things ever written

so basically I’ve read everything and love everyone and would be happy with absolutely anything hahaha. it can also be the most minimal thing and I still love it. if it has nick and charlie it instantly makes my list of favourite things (and big bonus for the already promised dash of tori 🤷🏻‍♀️)
