I'm really not sure how to describe Onoue's character in this show... He runs a bar, but the only customers he ever gets are his two friends and one spaceman... He's kinda dim except for when he isn't... Sometimes he flirts with Emiko and sometimes he's clearly not interested... In one episode she gets held hostage by terrorists along with like 30 women and children, and Shohei tries to storm the building to negotiate with one of the terrorists for her release and no one else's. He clearly doesn't give a shit about the children and it's very funny.
Also in the spaceman episode it turns out he thinks that the alien guy is a crazy human, even though he lives in a universe where kaiju just wander the streets. So like... (scratching head) you were just poking his face for no reason even though you thought he was a regular human...??? Just destined to be freak4freak in all his roles I guess!

Neo Ultra Q review: I thought this was gonna be the show where Onoue finally gets to play someone with a girlfriend.
Then I found out his character is actually the most dateless man in the world.
So that's what this post was gonna be about but then!!! He meets a lizard space Catholic and unlocks a previously unseen freak4freak mode!
So they have a tragic love story, featuring this gigantic goddamn drinking glass that lizard man refuses to put down until they're torn apart.
So that's my review!!! Episode 8: lizard alien romance.
#neo ultra q#also a really annoyingly shot fast-motion fight sequence but that's just the first few minutes#sorry about the lighting lol the whole show just looks like that#onoue hiroyuki
