I wanna know who your favorite vinsmoke sibling is so bad actually please tell me 👀✨

My friend and my brother laughed at me when I told them my favorite Vinsmoke is Niji, and I genuinely was embarrassed that day because I didn't really know much about him at the time (I think I had only watched a few eps of WCI) and it's pretty clear in the show that he's, uh, the worst of the Vinsmokes. And by "the worst" I mean: The one who's portrayed as the worst because he's the most active one when it comes to abuse and supremacism within the family line. Unlike Ichiji (who's more serious) and Yonji (who's more playful, somehow) Niji is the one who has to actually fight for a role in his family and that's why I think he's so fucking annoying all the damn time. I hate him. I love him. I want to hug him. But also I wouldn't mind punching him very, very hard. I have mixed feelings, but yeah, Niji is my favorite Vinsmoke. And you haven't asked why, but I feel the need to do some sort of mini argument about this because I am a very resentful person and I want to show my friend and my brother that Niji is actually a very interesting character!! And my fiancé thinks I just like him because he's hot, and she's right but only like a 20%. Maybe 40%.

I will try to put my thoughts into words, but it's pretty difficult because I have a lot of things to say about this blue evil gremlin.

I like Niji the most because I think he is, between the three brothers, the one who shows feelings and ambitions outside their emotionless selves the most. I know they technically are the same, but I don't think so (btw, please assume I'm not including Reiju in this text because she's canonically different from them and I'm just referring to the brothers).

As I mentioned before, I think Niji is the one brother who is the most annoying and evil because he feels the need to stand out. Ichiji is serious, and calculative and has a secure place in the family. He is the number one, even if Reiju is the oldest (I would like to talk more about how Reiju, being a woman, even if she's the oldest, she's the number 0. Because she is the oldest but she's a woman, so she obviously doesn't and would not be able to wear the number 1 like a man would. She is the oldest and yet, she has less significance in the family line than Ichiji. But, yeah, this is something that has nothing to do with Niji, sorry). Ichiji, like all of his siblings, wants recognition from his father, but he doesn't have to try as hard as the others to be impressive because he is, after all, the oldest. The typical "older sibling in an abusive household who has to deal with all the bullshit to protect their siblings"? That's something Reiju took over. That's Reiju's responsibility as the oldest and the woman. Ichiji literally doesn't have to do anything besides leading the team and being the evil, emotionless machine his father created. That does not mean that I don't think he could be able to develop more feelings, because I think he could and I love the concept of him being the first one to protest against Judge's behavior, but you get me. When you're the oldest brother with an even older sister, your responsibilities are pretty limited. So he doesn't have to be anything but there and himself.

Yonji, on the other hand... He is the youngest. Even younger than Sanji. He doesn't have to try, because Niji and Sanji should be the ones to do so. Little siblings are not expected to do much besides existing because irl parents are usually tired of raising children and they end up either getting neglected or seen as decoration. As a little sibling myself I can confirm that these things affect really badly to your brain growing up, but I got a more Sanji treatment so I can't speak for Yonji here. The thing I can say, though, is that in comparison to Niji, Yonji is just there. He's silly and goofy. He's funny. He's dumb. He has the excuse of being the little one to act that way. Getting lost eating or doing whatever. Even the fact that his powers are more physically focused instead of power/intelligence centered shows that he can just punch away his issues. He's the gym bro of the siblings. Don't expect much from him. <- Thing that's often said about little siblings, btw, and affects real fucking badly in early teenage years. The fact that he's portrayed like that is so on point tbh but after all, they don't have high expectations for him, so little to no effort is everything he does.

Then there's Niji, of course. My favorite. Love him. Hate him. Whatever. Niji is the middle child. And God, do I have to say things about middle siblings.

The thing about Niji is that he actually has to try and make a name for himself in the family because otherwise he'll probably get forgotten. I often wonder if he had that fear of becoming the next Sanji once he "died" (he's the only one genuinely asking if Sanji died on them before Yonji and Ichiji say they don't care) because his role is not as noticeable as the others. Reiju is the woman, Ichiji is the successor, Sanji is the weakling getting bullied (being technically one of the little siblings but still being in a limbo of middle/youngest because the little one is Yonji), and Yonji is the little one. Then... What's Niji?

Niji needs Sanji way more than he's willing to admit, and I love that. I absolutely love how he's written because he constantly shows that he needs Sanji, through both words and actions. He needs him because without Sanji's existence -without Niji being his bully- Niji is nothing but number 2. And there's nothing more frustrating than being the number two when it comes to family hierarchy. Not going to mention every little thing he does, but as I said, I love how well-written he is. He's the sibling Oda uses the most to show the abuse Sanji went through, but that's only because Niji is the only one who needs to do that. Niji is the one to talk to Sanji first, all the damn time. He gets angry when Sanji doesn't respond. He gets angry because Sanji can't be bullied anymore. He gets angry out of fear, in my opinion, because if the weakling can't get abused anymore, then he's not worth anything. If Sanji isn't the third, the second one is left alone. 2 can't fight 1 because 1 has the protection of starting the line. And 2 can't fight 4 because there's a missing link that keeps 2 from 4. So Niji is mad at Sanji because Sanji isn't the same weak crybaby he used to be, and he can't use him anymore to be secure and safe.

That's fucking horrifying when it comes to family hierarchy.

I like Niji because, despite being an asshole, he has reasons to be like that. First of all, because his father literally made him this way. But also, the little feelings he has (selfish emotions, yes, evil. But they're feelings, anyway. Urges. He's supposed to be emotionless and yet he knows how Sanji feels enough to use that to his advantage) are used as a way to feel superior and safe because he feels inferior. I think he's the one showing more emotions out of the three, even if those emotions aren't healthy or good and it's just him being angry all the time. That means that if he has urges and needs like that, even if he doesn't fear his own death, he could end up developing more and more empathy. His type of empathy comes from a place of fear. He feels what Sanji feels. And it's not that he doesn't care (I mean, I am aware that he technically doesn't, but let me dream) but it's just convenient for him not to care and keep bullying him to secure his place in the family.

Also pointing out that I like Niji because, being the one who says he hates Sanji the most, he's the one to protect him with his own body when that scene of the siblings helping Sanji escape happens. The others only clear the way, Niji stays with him. There's a really cool post about this on Niji's tag somewhere!!! I personally think he does this because, as that post said: Niji keeps seeing Sanji as weak, instead of believing in him enough to just clear the way. He protects him because he thinks he can't protect himself. Because he's weak.

And yes, it might sound offensive and emotionless and it doesn't make Niji a better person. But it makes him an older brother. Believing in Sanji would be great, but thinking that he's weak and needs protection after years of projecting on him only shows that the weak one is Niji. That he wants and is willing to protect his brother, too. If he didn't care about his well-being he would've just cleared the way for him, not caring about what could've happened to Sanji. But he goes all the way to help him out and protect him longer than the others did. Idk. I find that a very beautiful way of ending their relationship.

All of this being said, I have to be honest with you: When I said I liked Niji for the first time I only did it because people around me kept saying he was the worst one and it bothered me because I found his design pretty fucking cool. And tbh when he started being an actual character? I loved him even more. Because during WCI he's a fucking asshole but the way he acts towards Sanji is wanting to get a response from him, and I just find that so curious and complex... Like, if he just wanted to be evil he'd be more the Doflamingo type. But Niji looks for a response in Sanji's eyes. He wants to feel powerful because he knows he isn't.

And also, well, he's very cute and I like his hair a lot and he makes me furious sometimes which is great because if a character doesn't make you want to punch him at one point, is he really a good character? Look at him! He deserves to get slapped in the face. But also, I would love to kiss him afterward. What's that Olivia Rodrigo lyric? Ah, yes: "I wanna break his heart, then be the one to stitch it up. Wanna kiss his face with an uppercut." That's how I feel about him.

I really hope it's obvious, with all of this, that "Succession" is one of my favorite TV Shows, because I could go on and on and on (and nobody would listen but idc) about how the Vinsmokes are just the Roy family. Both One Piece and Succession deal with family in which hierarchy is crucial in a very specific and accurate way. It makes me sick. I love it.

Hi having more thoughts about Sanji’s birthday. I feel like Sanji’s not a big fan of his birthday and actually resents it a little because he shares it with all his so-called “brothers”. So whenever his birthday comes around it’s only filled with awful memories of him getting passed over for his brothers over and over again. Judge always celebrated Ichiji, Niji and Yonji’s birthdays but never Sanji’s, because a failure like him didn’t deserve to be born and so his birthday didn’t deserve to be celebrated.

The first time Sanji’s birthday rolls around when he’s with the Strawhats he doesn’t mention it to them, and long after the day has passed and they ask him “When’s your birthday?” and he tells them they get SO offended, especially Luffy. Luffy loves birthdays and celebrating them so the fact that Sanji’s birthday passed and they DIDN’T throw a huge party for him? Blasphemy. When Sanji admits “I’ve never really liked my birthday” all of them look at him like he’s insane and then they’re like “Okay so the next time it’s March 2nd we’ll have a party for Sanji”. Sanji protests but only a little bc he really has a hard time saying no to his crew, especially when Nami bats her eyes and is like “You won’t let us celebrate your birthday, Sanji-kun? 🥺” and he’s like god. DAMMIT okay

They never really understand WHY he dislikes his birthday so much until after WCI, but then they get it, especially with all the family history and drama that’s been let out of the bag. And when Sanji’s birthday comes around again, they throw him a big party, help him cook all his favorites and refuse to let him do any chores or go out of his way for them bc it’s HIS day, so they’re going to treat him. And Luffy approaches him and he’s like “Sanji, I’m so, so SO glad you were born” and Sanji bursts into tears. It’s the first time someone’s expressed that they’re happy he was born, that he’s NOT a failure, that he DESERVES to have been born, and with the crew celebrating all of the bad associations he has with his birthday slowly fade away and are replaced with GOOD ones.

From then on out Sanji looks forward to his birthday. And he no longer thinks of his brothers, he just thinks of the words Luffy told him and the fondness his crew has for him, and that’s all that matters 🥺

-You were the result of a drunken night of passion and after you were born, your mother wanted nothing to do with you and dropped you back off with Sanji while he was still with Zeff.

-Sanji took to being a father so naturally, raising you with so much love, showing you how you should be treated, and between him, Zeff, and the rest of the staff aboard Bartie, you were very protected.

-When Sanji saw Luffy and Nami, begging him to come back, he coldly refuted them, putting up a front to protect them, even if it hurt him, however, “Papa!”

-Sanji froze, turning as he gasped, running towards you, “Y/N!” his brothers, sister, and father were all stunned, seeing that Sanji had a daughter, and they had a granddaughter and niece!!

-When Sanji pulled away from you, revealing you to the gaze of his family, they all froze, seeing how much you looked like Sora.

-You looked to see these unknown people looking at you and you spoke, holding onto Sanji’s arm, “Papa who are they?”

-Reiju was instantly kneeling before you, a bright smile on your face, “It’s nice to meet you- I’m Sanji’s big sister! Which makes you my cute little niece!” your eyes went wide and then sparkly, “I have an auntie?”

-Reiju collapsed to the ground, clutching her chest, overwhelmed with cuteness as Ichiji approached with Niji and Yonji, “And we’re your uncles!”

-Your eyes were sparkly, overwhelmed with suddenly having a big family as Judge spoke, “And I’m your grandpa!” you turned to Sanji, a bright smile on your face, “Are they really papa?”

-Sanji, not wanting to dampen your glee, but wanted you to have nothing to do with the Vinsmoke Family, picked you up, holding you up on his hip, “In blood and name only- I don’t consider them my family.”

-You were confused before Sanji beamed brightly at you while his brothers yelled at him, wanting to get to know you and they were furious that he was telling you this, “Why?”

-Sanji turned, looking coldly at Judge, “A family that only cares about raising warriors, not children- not a family, isn’t a family. You are my only family, Y/N.”

-You were still a little confused, but nodded softly, as your papa always told you the truth.

-Sanji instantly dodged at Niji tried to punch him, shielding you as he leapt back, “Oi you bastard! You’re going to hurt Y/N!”

-Judge was looking down at you, seeing you looking so much like Sora, he wanted you for himself, with your Devil Fruit abilities you would certainly become an asset to the Vinsmoke Family after some modifications.

-Sanji paled, seeing this before he tossed you to Nami, “Run Nami-san!” hearing his voice, she instantly did as she was told, taking off while he faced off against his family and was quickly beaten down.

-You sobbed, seeing him get hit as Nami clutched you close, managing to get away, not willing to let any of them take you. You couldn’t understand why they were so cruel to your papa!

-At the wedding, Pudding was shocked to see that Sanji had a child, after you ran over to him when everything started going crazy, after you had managed to slip away from Chiffon, who had been watching you, wanting to see your papa.

-When Sanji freed his siblings and father, they were all stunned, seeing him willing to help them even after everything they had done to him before he told them to leave both him and you alone.

-Reiju was the only one who you let hug you, as you were escaping, after she kicked Smoothie away from you and Sanji, hugging you close before she handed you to Sanji, “Keep my little niece safe, okay?”

-You could tell that Sanji liked Reiju, there was something different about her, compared to the others as he spoke, “Thank you nee-san.” She smiled before rushing back in, letting Sanji, you and the others to escape.

-As you were sailing away, seeing the Vinsmoke Family fighting to keep the Charlotte Family away, you waved, “Bye Auntie Reiju!! Bye grandpa! Bye uncles!!” Judge was stunned, seeing you wave goodbye to them, hearing your words.

-Could he have had more of a loving family with more grandkids, had he not been worried about creating strong warriors? Perhaps Sora was right. Perhaps Sanji was right, this wasn’t a family, and due to it, they lost not only Sanji, who was the only one of them to resemble Sora, they lost you, their only niece. Judge and the other Vinsmokes had nobody to blame but themselves.

Robin being group mom for the swapped au siblings is so good… not only is she a motherly figure for the boys who’ve never really had one and for Reiju who only vaguely remembers their mother, but her odd morbidity kind of tempers it for them because they aren’t used to all of the warmth and community the strawhats have built among each other. I imagine whenever they argue they additionally have to kind of fight for who gets to be with Robin first afterwards and that’s a right mess as well, bc they’re all just not that used to spending time with the louder strawhats and all the chaos that ends up with them.

I think they’re probably the worst with Franky— not only is he massive and loud and contrary to most things they’ve been taught, he’s also so very emotional. There’s a 50/50 chance they’ll say anything and he’ll start bawling because he’s sad they’ve missed out on x or y and they don’t really know how to handle it in the least!! It’s overwhelming!

Good to hear from you Wine! Yeah the kids definitely don't know what a loving home is supposed to be like and then add on the run away royalty to it and it's just this weird mashed together pattern of showing love and care without really knowing how and then add in a brother who doesn't feel much of anything yet but is starting to learn and it's a mess. Since joining the Strawhats they definitely argue less but they do still happen. I think Niji would start having doubts about Sanji gaining emotions because uh.... he's been a mercenary since like age ten and Robin says part of being human is living with the pain of past actions, but it's not like Sanji had a choice, he was a victim.

Franky is so loud and emotional it probably scares them at first because why is he so free with his emotions. Ichiji is the most wigged out because he was the crown prince and had the pressure of the entire kingdom and his siblings and damn did he try to crush those pesky things but it didn't work. So Ichiji is having lots of issues that he's trying just figure out how to avoid the shipwright at all costs and it's not working and he's suffering and it's a whole thing and he's not having fun. He'll stare wide eyed at Franky who is sobbing because all Ichiji said was that their mom died drinking poison which is why the brothers aren't all like Sanji. Ichiji is so used to the horrible things he's desensitized and so Franky telling him that's horrible as he sobs loudly. Also he's really big kind of like Judge and it's just that trick of ptsd that big man=judge when that's not true but still.

Also I think Reiju, who was most familiar with their mother, looks at Franky and says Sora would have loved him. The tears and wailing are expected but now she's in the air and against a giant metal man who is squeezing her very tightly and yelling about how much that means to him. One time Franky, Niji, and Yonji are talking, as well as some of the other guys from the strawhats and Yonji asks Niji when Judge gave up on them and Niji's confused 'as weapons or making Sanji king? because both of those happened by the time we were eight.' and Franky's crying again and there's questions from all around. Yonji says they do need to work on being more open and Niji tackles him. Robin separates them with a very stern 'Boys.' which makes them all settle down significantly.

what does Reiju think of the whole situation? I can imagine she has some mixed feelings on it along the vein of "where was this empathy when you were treating Sanji like garbage you asshole" but also "holy shit you're actually capable of human emotions, I gave up hope on this so long ago but you are beginning to prove me wrong and I could not be happier."

you mentioned that Reiju found Yonji in the hallways during his breakdown. as in, the ship hallways? how did he get there from the battlefield? did he just try to run back to his room, or someplace safe and just collapse midway?

how do Yonji and Sanji get Ichiji and Niji to come with them at the end of WCI? because I can't see them going willingly with the amount of reverence they have for Judge. do they just end up knocking them over the head, grabbing them and running? because that. Is really fucking funny.

does Yonji get to say some sort of goodbye to Ichiji and Niji before he leaves Germa? or does he just leave? i'm sort of weighing the two extremely tasty options in my head bc on the one hand if Yonji tells them he's leaving we get the pleasure of seeing them go "What. Why?? What the fuck? You're just leaving?" and getting a whole tense dramatic scene from it. But on the other hand. if he doesn't tell them. if Ichiji and Niji just notice that he's been acting a little weird lately but don't think much of it, it's not their business after all, and then one day he just. Vanishes. they don't know what happened to him, if he's alive or dead or whatever the hell, and then a little bit after that, this barely-sentient clone of him, this pale mockery of your brother just shows up one day, performing all his duties, and your supposed to act like nothing's wrong whatsoever. and they can't even talk about it because Judge conditioned them to not acknowledge any emotion and see any form of attachment or feeling as weakness. oughhhh.

Umm…like I wonder how their relationship would be if I’m bad days Sanji sees Yonji in Zoro when he gets mad or does a certain motion bc of the color of his hair…..and it makes zoro self conscious so he like tries to dye his hair but it fails spectacularly and sanji is just amused

I'm in the opinion that Sanji wouldn't go as far as genuinely fearing Zoro because he reminds him too much of Yonji - he'll find it off-putting at most, and he'd be more angry at the fact that he sees Yonji in Zoro, as he feels like he would do Zoro a disservice if he even thinks that the two of them are even remotely comparable. Also, I'm a soft bastard so I would think that Zoro would immediately notice when Sanji is having one of his bad days, and would try to be more considerate and attentive than usual - which would be a far cry from how Yonji used to treat Sanji in the past.

I do think it would be amusing and hilarious in a sort of sweet way if Zoro thinks he reminds Sanji of his brother. Like say, they're in the middle of a fight and he notices Sanji is more flinchy and sensitive than usual, so he, in a moment of unusual worry, starts to think of the worst and somehow come to the concluson that shit, did I cross too far and I accidentally reminded the cook of his awful brother?! Cue Zoro starting to overthink and eventually coming up with the whole dyeing-the-hair-and-failing-spectacularly shenanigan, probably turning it into hot pink (courtesy of Perona) or a colorful rainbow (Happy Pride). Sanji laughs his ass off because who the fuck wouldn't, but god, his boyfriend is so sweet that he can't help but find it endearing - especially after he learns the reason why he did it in the first place. He reassures him that no, your hair is fine, I love it the way it is, I wouldn't call you my mosshead if I really hate your hair that much, darling. The misunderstanding will be cleared, they'll make up, and then later they make love, yadda yadda. It all ends well.

OKAY LET ME TALK ABOUT THE MOST MINISCULE YET MOST IMPORTANT DETAIL TO ME AND ME ALONE FIRST. that being the symbol on the brats belt. it was actually inspired/based off of this post which really stuck with me with me after reading it which i later realized was bc the "that something has been completely reversed" REMINDED ME OF THIS POST OF YOURS. i don't think im especially good at theory crafting but. idk i think there could be Something about how after judge came and turned germa into mercenaries their symbol turned from what once symbolized 'purity' into the skull of war mongers and then BACK to purity after 0124 get germa on the right path... poetry or smthn. ANYWAYS yah shoe shiners got a pretty basic fit bc like i said in the og ask, hes a sora warrior of the sea fan, once he saw the raidsuits irl methinks he'd want to stay pretty close to the og design. HOWEVER he refuses to drop the hat (much to Niji's dismay) and i came up with a reason besides 'its one piece and therefore there's GOTTA be a kid with a weird hat that they're attached to': and that is the fact that it hides his eyebrows. i don't even have much to say about the last two because i Think i am Rightgksfjgasjkfa but for the third i think the brats a bad influence on Little Red especially. I'm from the perspective that YES they did AWFUL things to Sanji and to everyone around them, but at the same time they were practically NOT HUMAN, they COULDN'T feel empathy and compassion even if forced to. They are a result of an EXPERT their crazy and sick FATHER did, not them, imo.

That's why I precise the therapy part in the imagine of Niji and Cosette, because otherwise without therapy it'll be such a toxic relationship if we can even call it one. (They're too violent and angry)

that’s a really interesting scenario; i can see them making attempts to better themselves after everything that’s happened — or, maybe after seeing how well-adjusted sanji is (or, as well adjusted as he can be 😭) and how sanji very adamantly does not want to be like them. i imagine this could partially be the catalyst where they’d tell themselves that if sanji can manage emotions, why can’t they? or, like you said, maybe there’s smth that reminds them of their mom — maybe those memories that they were forced to bury as children steadily resurface? it’s a solid theory tbh, although i’m not sure how much they can rehabilitate at this point — and if they do, i imagine there will be numerous relapses given the nature of their upbringing. still, effort’s effort right?

niji is so interesting to me (i love him i’m so biased); volatile, headstrong, impatient, cruel — so very un-princely, and yet demands to be treated as such lmao i do enjoy terrible characters <3 anyway, for someone who routinely did vile things to cosette (bc what drove him to go after her so much? he was sf extra and i doubt he even knows why he did what he did, or why her presence just…agitated him) i’m sure if he’s unlocking his emotions one by one, he’d be overwhelmed by them. because now he’d feel guilt and shame, and since remorse is not something he’s familiar with, he’d def try to find a way to get rid of it (like u said maybe trying to do things for her). whatever’s the fastest and easiest way tbh.

and, given cosette’s unwavering loyalty to that family, it makes sense that she’d somehow be privy to that information (of the siblings going to therapy or smth) and probably not healthy, she would be proud of them — or would believe that it was genuine on her end. i think she would end up focusing on niji anyway, which might confuse/annoy him more with how his feelings are making it difficult to function. he probably just gets annoyed whenever he remembers that he likes her and that’s such a problem for him (he has things to do yk) but he can’t bring himself to act out like he used to before (probably even gets teased by the others about it, because they’d def take note of any changes happening even if he tried hard to hide it).

Ok so looking at them and general aesthetics:

1. Reiju & Sanji

She is so pretty and has a really nice wardrobe, her costume is really cool too. She pulls the twirly eyebrows the best imo (i dont really like her 66 tattos but meh)

I said it before and i say it again, Sanji is really pretty!! He has some personality issues that are not so attractive, but compared to the rest his family? Big oof

(personality is not taken into account bc the Vinsmokes, minus Sanji, are all horrible)

2. Niji

Yes, this asshole is prettier than the other two assholes and yes, is mostly the hair. His stupid headphones antennas and chad clothes weight him down so he ends up with nule point

3. Ichiji

Mostly his hair. Its so strange i cant get over it. It looks like a giant god licked it into shape. The clothes are better even tho he looks like he religiously listens to mcr, but i just cant get over that hair

4. Yonji

-he saw you walking with sanji when they all were going to have dinner and his face immediately hardened while he watched you walk. he had to hide his true ‘feelings’ obviously 

-but afterwards he’ll offer to show you your room and he leads you there throwing a mean comment about you coming back 

-he’s totally passive aggressive towards you and he makes a few comments about you and sanji being so close

-it honestly just seems like he’s being an asshole and teasing his brother about a girl but really it’s just another way for him to get out his anger at the both of you

-you can catch him staring at you from time to time and he’ll sometimes be walking down the hallway when you come out of your room, because he was wondering if he should go talk to you or not

-part of him wants to just talk with you and kiss you but another part wants to yell at you for being such a bitch

-there are times he’ll snap at you harshly and then he ends up in an angry staring contest with sanji who defended you 

-eventually you’ll ask why he’s being so rude to you and he’ll make what he thinks is an insult but it basically explains that ichiji is angry at you for all you did with sanji 

-the moment he heard of the plan and their approaching reunion with sanji, he thought of you. he’s really angry at you for leaving. he jumped to the conclusion you and sanji are dating 

-the deep hatred for sanji seemed to increase tenfold when he imagines him strolling in with you on his arm and tongue fucking each others’ mouths in front of him; the whole scenario of having to see and hear about the two of you together evokes a feeling he didn’t know he had, besides the burning fury he also feels a squeezing around his heart and almost fearful sensation

-as the day approaches niji tries to put on a facade that he’s only interested in sanji

-when he sees you walking down the carpet after sanji, he steps right in front of you and lowers his head so that your noses are almost touching, his face is set in a scowl

-”look whos back” his voice is full of disgust and bubbling rage but he only says that, after a minute of very awkward and overwhelmingly tense silence sanji pulls you away which only makes niji growl in anger

-the whole time they ate he was staring you down with a deep frown and his arms crossed

-sanji didn’t want you sleeping alone because.. he’s sanji.. but also because he doesn’t trust any of his brothers. so sanji had you sleep in his room and niji was absolutely outraged. he tried to take it out on sanji but that didn’t do anything

-niji didn’t really talk to you until he found you sitting out on one of the castles balconies where you used to sit together as kids

-he went and sat down beside you and just bluntly insulted you and sanji for a few minutes, when you got up to leave he grabbed you and pulled you back down 

-really the whole situation is just filled with insults and anger towards sanji and you, more towards sanji. but also niji tries to talk to you when you’re not with sanji 

-so he didn’t actually comprehend that having sanji back would mean having you back, he wasn’t completely sure if you were with sanji until one of the soldiers said you were and then yonji was super excited

-but then he was pissed because that meant you stayed with sanji 

-okay so that fight between him and sanji had a touch of his harbored rage and jealousy from you leaving for sanji 😌

-honestly yonji is the nicest during this, or as nice as he can be

-after he gets fixed up from the fight he sees you come in with sanji when they’re going to eat dinner, and he gets those heart eyes because you are just even more gorgeous 

-he’s not gonna be nice nice

-he’ll throw some teasing insults at sanji and you but he gets pissed when niji and/or ichiji say something about you and sanji being together 

-he actually avoids you for the most part because he’s angry at you and he sticks to beating sanji and insulting him

-he will make some mean comments about you and sanji’s relationship to see how you actually feel about him

-when you’re around, yonji will purposely start a fight with sanji be it verbal or physical 

-you get into an argument about why you left and about you and sanji and yonji ends up admitting that he still feels something (he doesn’t know what it is) for you that he felt when you were both younger

-and he says something that lets you know he’s mad at you for leaving him for sanji

Headcanon for Vinsmoke!bro au: I see Niji acting more of an asshole than Ichiji and Yonji, since Judge once caught him making a birthday cake for someone else (Sanji's) and severely beat him for it. Now Niji acts like the biggest asshole in the world to not only protect himself but his brothers. Letting Judge think that act of kindness was merely a small glitch.

Vinsmoke bro au, has the bros still affected by the drug that Judge used.  But because of Sora’s interference.  The bros can only really feel for Sanji and each other.  They care about him, but for anyone else, they don’t give a hecky.   But, they are still raised as “nobles” by judge.  So they think that cooking and stuff should be left to the servants.  Thus Niji would not cook, but all bros let Sanji cook, bc they do prefer Sanji to be safe and they support Sanji’s hobbies. 

Now I can see Niji acting like a big ass, because he deemed it the best way to keep judge away.  But you are on to something, anon, there is a reason why reiju who thinks the bros are monsters and judge don’t know about the brothers kinship to each other.

I was reading yours ASL+S au's posts and I started to think about how the ASL might think about the Vinsmokes, every one specificaly.

Like, we all know they have Judge, Ichiji, Niji and Yonji. But Reiju and Sora? Honestly, I believe that while Luffy would like her in a normal amount (most bc she helped Sanji run away, though), Sabo and Ace would deslike her, bc for them te way she acted towards Sanji situation (just caring when was safe for her, and letting him stay TWO FUCKING YEARS in a dunsheon and etc) was not how a older sibling would act.

But Sora? All of them would like her a lot. Just bc of Sanji's memorys and even if they never would be able to meet her. After hearing how much of a amazing mother she was to Sanji and all she did even if her actions would be her death just so Sanji could be human, have feelings, and not be a emotionless machine like his siblings.

And a while after Dragon bring their Sabo back, he finally ask if he can make a little place to put Sora's favorite flowers, since he had the chance to bring her flowers after her death once.

Yeah, you have a good point. Luffy was saved by Reiju and in all technicalities as was Sanji but Ace and Sabo? They really don't like her, they really, really don't like her. She may have saved Luffy's life but hearing everything about when they were little? How she ignored what happened and maybe patched Sanji up? She's just as guilty. Reiju never hindered their brother's and often said to not antagonize them.

If Ace and Sabo were there for WCI no matter what Luffy said or the fact she saved Luffy and got Sanji out to run away doesn't change their opinions. When they see the golden cuffs during the escape and Sanji explains that Reiju switched them for duds and didn't tell him until the day before and rather late at night. Ace and Sabo are eager to go tear the Vinsmokes apart and let Germa sink to the bottom of the ocean thanks to a past the other Hats aren't privy to.

After Wano or whatever when they're together again, Sabo has a bouquet of flowers from Sanji's memories. They put it in a vase as Nami asks who the flowers are for.

"They're for Sora." Luffy answers.

"Who's Sora?" Zoro puffs.

"Sanji's mom, she's the only Vinsmoke we liked." Ace shrugs as he covers Luffy's mouth for his defense of Reiju. "We did this when Sabo first started coming back with Dragon."

"Isn't Sanji a Vinsmoke?" Usopp asks.

"No, he was disowned as a child and then in Tottoland he disowned Judge right back." Sabo tells them.

"So why didn't you just find her and give them to her in Tottoland?" Chopper questions.

"She's not around anymore." Sabo smiles softly as pats Chopper and passes by to join two of his brothers. When Sanji comes out from the galley from doing whatever they tell them about Sabo coming back with Dragon and how that's when Sanji started getting flowers together for Sora. When the brother's joined and while they don't delve into the memories Sanji has shared with them the crew does find the sentiment sweet. The brothers know and that's all they need as the flowers sit in the galley.
