HIGH “BOMBER” @juliaswarrecs @suburbancreeprecords .
// @high.asfuckband are back w/ a new single, the soft_grunging “BOMBER” & word of a forthcoming self-titled EP. The Boonton, NJ-based quartet of guitarist/vocalist Christian Castan, bassist Bridget Bakie, drummer Jack Miller & guitarist Danny Zavala proudly rep the North Jersey enclave of Morris County and have done so while steadily building quite the resume after a run of dope ass singles that’ll culminate in their debut EP. “Bomber” finds HIGH at their most most docile, dreamy & sonically sedate but don’t get it twisted there’s still a simmering melancholy underneath that’s teeming w/ anxiety as they put the majority of their emphasis on the “soft” part of the grungy NuGazing spectrum.

BEST OF ’22:
SINGLES_OF_THE_YEAR… //
Dedicated to all the true 7”ers… “DEAD” was one helluva debut single from HIGH & it found the Morris County, NJ repping quartet quickly becoming my favorite new band & did so w/ a deliciously dissonant bout of pedal stomped, EMOtionally charged & drowsy NuGaze. HOUSE OF HARM returned w/ a new standalone single titled “FEEL MY HEART BEAT” & it found the Boston-based trio bringing a big ole peace of NuWaving goodness as an impassioned vocal rode an arrangement of gleaming synths, driven low-ends & ringing six-strings. JOHNNY DYNAMITE charged back w/ a new standalone single titled “THE LAST ONES” & it found the Brooklyn-based Bloodsuckers satiating our thirst by once again bringing that cinematically sleek & cheap-seats reaching 80s Pop across 3+ mins of impeccably cool NewWave. “CASPER” was a suitably dour standalone single from THE MOTHER SUPERIOR & it found the Charlotte-based project bringing a brooding piece of SoftGrunge that touched on all of our boomingly glum & post_punking needs. “FLOWERS” managed to expand upon NEW TODAY’s love of gothly undertones, death_rocking bite & their expert use of the quiet/loud dynamic while adding a bouncy playfulness courtesy of an ear-wormy combo of floating basslines, snappy percussion & a hypnotic vocal coda that eventually succumbs to their ideal post_punking meets Alice In Chains vibe.
