the hack to surviving the pmd fandom is to not interact with explorers fans (<- guy that is an explorers fan)
#bwark#i live by this logic in the wider fandom by not interacting with anime xy fans and main series gen 5 fans (<- guy whose wife is a gen 5 fan)#fr sometimes im like hmm the pmd fandom is more peaceful than my experiences with the main series and anipoke fandoms#and now we're at the point where the creator of obt is getting sent SA fics because. her explorers comic adaptation features chatot#not even going into how annoying people are about canon chatot (we get it you never got over apple woods can we please talk about something#else)....this isn't even the same chatot? it's an adaptation with alterations???#as woo said keaton's character arc is still incomplete and this is how people are reacting to her fleshing him out more than canon chatot???#that's also not going into how people have called keaton a ''savage'' for obt's version of the perfect apple incident when woo has#stated that keaton is native-coded. like are you really putting yourself on the moral highground while saying severley racist shit#anyway what's the gti side of the fandom like. i know there's like 4 of you so it's looking much more peaceful#(I LOVE GTI IM JUST POKING FUN)

My man Tukk really watched Rex's Smolder™️ 287 times and copied it to perfection. He even does the chin lift. I just can't with this OC. He's perfection.
All rights belongs to highgroundanimations!
(Can’t wait for this short film though)

I think people who want a specific species extinct from their normal habitat also assume that everyone else also hates said species & is only letting them live because of ecological moral highground reasons, but like, i love fleas.
I have Animal Crossing New Horisons & i have a flea on my bedside table in the game as a pet, every time i get an oppurtunity to catch one with my little bug net i get excited. Even when i encounter them in real life i get struck by how cute & little they are.
If someone gave me a tiny flea teddy or something i'd love it so much.
They are one of my favourite animals. Obviously, the ecological damage of losing them would be catastrophic, but also it would just make me sad bc they are cute & i like them.

Tossing Yubel at you like they're a football for the Yugioh character ask meme C:<
Why I like them
I procrastinated this for days because I knew it was going to be long. Well, here we go.
So my favorite thing about Yubel is how unique they are? Literally any series that wasn't Yu-Gi-Oh would have just killed Yubel as another bad victim. Welp, it's too late to save them. If only we got to them earlier. Now I'm going to kill them while shedding a single tear of regret and then I'll go back to my happy life with all my friends.
I literally wrote an entire meta about this topic.
But no, Judai literally cannot progress as a character unless he saves Yubel. To begin with Judai is Yubel. They reflect each other in the worst way possible. Take Judai's friends away and he turns into the supreme king, so Judai has no moral highground to condemn Yubel for becoming what they became after they were forced to endure torture all alone in space for years.
Yubel isn't really written like an antagonist. I mean, they're literally Judai's spirit partner. Even if when they show up in the anime, they are a spirit partner who has been abandoned and now acts like a jilted lover.
Just the way they interact with the story too. A lot of mastermind characters rely on plot convenience, or they are plot devices to set the story into motions. Yubel is at all times a fully three dimmensional character.
Yubel's not a master manipulator controlling everything behind the scenes like an unseen puppeteer, but they are manipulative. We see them prey on several character's weaknesses several times with characters like Cobra and Amon. They're just good at reading people and take full advantage of that ability. This is also like, not something we're told, but shown. We see Yubel pick apart Amon entirely in the two times they duel.
Things go according to plan because Yubel is smart and adaptable, not because the plot needs these things to happen. Yubel doesn't always succeed either. They get defeated by Johan at first, and they need to retreat, and recoup their losses. At which point Yubel switches to plan B. They're not smart because they always succeed or saw everything coming to begin with, but because they have multiple contingencies to their plan. They knew they might be weakened by having to duel so many times in a row, so they set up Amon to succumb to the darkness in his heart so they can feed on said darkness later.
Yubel certainly does put Judai into situations, but in the end Judai's bad choices are all his own. Yubel just, knows Judai really well, better than anyone else in this whole world and they take full advantage of that fact. Yubel is fully aware of the flaws that Judai is blind too (because Yubel loves them wholeheartedly in spite of those flaws).
Yubel also just demonstrates like, a protagonist level of determination. You just cannot beat Yubel down. They burn up in space and then manage to survive even as a literal hand crawling on the ground. They get their body destroyed again and just take Johan's body. Their entire deck is built around the fact that you can't deal damage to their monsters. If you try you take damage instead. if you destroy their monsters, another, more powerful form comes out.
Which is just a metaphor for the fact that Judai cannot solve this situation by killing the victim. Yubel won't conveniently go away, because they are the symbol of Judai's flaws, and you don't make your flaws go away by ignoring them. In fact, Judai ignoring Yubel and failing to take responsibility makes HIM LOOK BAD because he's failing to be a hero or a good friend.
Everything in the whole series is set up that Judai is supposed to save Yubel. His deck is literally themed after heroes. Judai has the power of the gentle darkness, his whole theme is "Darkness can be used as a force for good, while light is corruption" flipping traditional light and dark themes on their head, and Yubel is like, also darkness.
Judai gives a speech to Cyrus on how even if his friend made all the wrong choices, he would stay by them until the end. When Judai becomes the supreme king, he's saved by O'Brien and Jim not because they wanted to be heroes but because they wanted to help their friend. Even Sho ends up watching Judai to the end because he remembers his advice.
The climax to the second season of the show was Edo despreately dueling to save his friend who was also completely corrupted by the light, and then begging judai to do so in his place when he failed. Edo and Saiou even temporarily combine into the same person when Saiou's good half helps Edo duel the light possessed Saiou.
It's just like wow look at hos with antagonist is weaved into every aspect of the story, and even goes back and makes the first two seasons seem like they were building up to this. Way to make everything that happens in season 3 one long journey to the moment where Judai will save Yubel.
The utlimate bad victim and as I said this is the Bad Victim Supporters blog.
I think also the way that Yubel is never painted as "Too far gone" and the way they are also right in several ways. Like Yubel's view of love is twisted but they also kind of show a deep understanding of it. You do in fact hurt the people you love from time to time. Yubel's love is actually just a twisted definition of empathy. They believe that the definition of love is suffering the same exact pain, and that's what empathy is, understanding someone else's suffering even though you're not them.
Yubel seems off their rocker, but like they are more mature in their understanding of love than Judai who's never had a healthy friendship until Johan came along and even then became too fixated on him.
Also just, the fusion scene at the end is the most beautiful act of true love I've ever seen in fiction. People can call it codependent and messy all they want but like... this is fiction. The whole point of Yubel is that they are a bad victim, but at the end of their story, Judai and Yubel are two bad victims who can go on a journey of self improvement together after they've been saved at their lowest points.
Yubel is to Judai a reflection of all of his worst qualities and everything he hates about himself, which is why Judai rejects them for so long but even though Yubel is so flawed they love Judai for all of his flaws and they accept all of him. You can be loved at your absolute worst and I think that's just. So gay.
What I like about their appearance
Yubel is a rebis which is a half man half woman alchemy symbol, and that's what I like the most about their appearance the symbolism associated with it. Literally the people who wrote GX did their research on alchemy and they wove it into almost every aspect of the story.
Also, Yubel looks like a devilman character, specifically Ryo Asuka which is really fucking cool.
Do I prefer their dub names or original names?
Same name. Though, I hate the dub version of Yubel. Completley different character.
OTP
Soulshipping.
NOTP
Don't have one.
OT3
This is probably an unpopular opinion but I don't actually ship any of the OT3s that are like, Judai / Yubel / Someone else. I don't Notp them or anything, I just like Judai and Yubel being the embodiment of "Hand in unlovable hand."
Favourite card they use
Yubel.
Their entire deck is symbolic of the fact that you can't put them down with physical violence, you can't make them go away, you have to accept them.
However, I also like the fact that Yubel runs like 3 diffeerent decks. Advanced Crstyal Beasts, Sacred Beasts, and Yubel. How often do we see Yu-Gi-Oh characters actually run different archetypes?
Favourite moment they were in
This entirescene and the super polymerization right after. it's probably my favorite scene in all of fiction tied with Spike hugging the cross in Buffy, I love it in in so many ways.
The way that Judai had been resolved to just kill Yubel to save the world before this. The way that this scene demonstrates what I've been saying above all along that while Yubel's love was twisted, it's genuine, and it's what humanizes them. The way that Yubel represents the best and worst aspects of love. The way that Judai like, instantly changes his mind after seeing this scene and decides to keep the promise he made in his past life.
I have various opinions on why he did that, but I think in the end he realized that Yubel's love was indeed genuine and unconditional. That love humanized Yubel in Judai's eyes finally, because love is what makes us all human.
Judai is also like giving Yubel what they wanted all along, which is a relationship between equals. Yubel gave up his personhood in order to protect Judai, and now Judai gives up part of his personhood in order to fuse with Yubel and spend the rest of his life watching over them just like he promised. Sometimes fairy tale endings and gestures of true love conquering all are good things, actually.
Least favourite moment
That Yubel is only in four episodes of Season four. We should have gotten so much of Yubel and Judai acting like partners and talking to each other the same way that Yugi and Yami do, but that's what fanfiction is for I guess.

Rating Highground X Minecraft keyboard/accessories
Im going to just be rating based on visual appearence rather than quality of the keyboard
1. Inventory
They tried. The grey really isnt appealing and neither are the icons. Pretty obvious and boring. However, i do like that they at least tried to match the letters with the keys. M for melon. L for lava. G for gold. But why is X for crossbow? I do like the fact that the enter key is the furnace icon, and the use of minecraft font (even if i dont like the minecraft font). 2/10 I have minecraft toolbar keycaps and theyre so much better with shinethrough.
2. Steve and Animals
I love the colours for this, id live to have that skyblue on my desk. I like the animals too i think the illustration is really nice. But i dont think Steve is really doing the board any favours. His skin is pretty light imo, and i dont think people appear great on keycaps anyway (just look at how his face is bulging by his eyes). Tbh i think id like this board a LOT if it wasnt for Steve, and thats a shame bc i like steve. 5/10
3. Creepers
I like this one a lot. It reminds me of those minecraft animations. Looks like a minecraft themed fever dream. I also like how the healthbar has less hearts than all the other ones. 9/10 i like it but its not for me.
4. Mining wall
Again i really dont like the grey. I just dont think this one lools good tbh. Who wants diorite on their keyboard? (Im jk i love diorite) anyway. Unrealistic block formation but otherwise fine 4/10
5. grASS block
No. What the piss it this? This just. No. It looks bad. Stop. Who wants this on their desk. Stop. It looks silly and as classic as the grass block is this just looksgross. No. 0/10
6. Blocky
This is my favourite of all the board sets. Its just fun. The blocks do unfortunatly look warped due to the keyboard shape. Its not the prettiest thing in the world but i do like it a lot for being silly and just a big mess. 8/10 its the first board to sell out.
7. Map
I actually really like this one. I think the pattern is nice and matches well with the shape of the keycaps. I can see myself getting lost staring at this while im meant to be working. I think this does the brown and green scheme a lot better than grass block did. 9/10
8. TNT
Im a huge fan. The block is a classic choice, it fits nicely as a set, its clean. I like this a lot! 10/10
9. Deskmat - map
Very nicely sized, cute pattern with the map. I like the text on the ends. I think this is quite whimsical but still neat. 8/10
9. Deskmat - mining blocks
I quite like this. Obvious design but i think it works. I dont mind the grey so much. Its not particuarly exciting though. 7/10
Im going to add onto this with the final few items since ive hit post limit

ive always said that flight rising players are weirdly aggressive towards people with genshin impact fandragons specifically. like i understand if you think it's cringe or whatever but trying to play the "it's gacha!!!!!" moral highground while on FLIGHT RISING of all games is funny to me. i guarantee you the 15 year old who made an anime twink of your hatchery dragon isn't spending exorbitant amounts of money gambling. they're more likely to be spending unhealthy amounts of time grinding in the coliseum

Book Blurb:
A hurricane changes the course of a river and the life of a lonely girl in this nature-based mystery-adventure by the best-selling author of the Serafina series and the Willa series
Robert Beatty, a master at telling atmospheric tales of mystery and suspense set in the natural world, has crafted another ingenious, unputdownable story.
Thirteen-year-old Sylvia Doe has lived at the Highground Home for Children nearly all her life. Whenever the administrators try to place her with a foster family, she runs away--back to Mason, Highground's caretaker and her best friend. The only place she feels like she belongs is with him and the horses he has taught her to love.
When a powerful storm causes the remote mountain valley where she lives to flood, Sylvia begins to encounter strange and wondrous things floating down the river. Glittering gemstones and wild animals that don't belong--everything's out of place. Then she spots an unconscious boy floating in the water.
As she drags him onto the shore and their adventure together begins, Sylvia wonders who he is and where he came from. And why does she feel such a strong connection to this mysterious boy?
Review:
An action packed story filled with life, death, and magic as a young girl rescues a mysterious boy and soon finds herself on an adventure. The story follows a girl named Sylvia Doe who has lived in the foster system all her life. She loves taking care of the animals and has a track record of running away from her foster families to go back to the Highground caretaker. When a powerful storm happens Sylvia rescues a mysterious boy and begins to encounter strange things in the river... from magical gemstones to wild animals. The story has nature and time travel magic and really focuses in on the care for horses and the environment. It's a interesting read and one I'd recommend for young middlegrade readers interested in fantasy books.
Release Date: October 8,2024

i had ur post about twt stuff reccomended 2 me and ough. ive never been on twitter and i love aira sm what the hell are they saying about him over there.
sorry if this gets long this topic bothers me so much dghfk the first part actually answers your question anon the rest is just me ranting
amen to you for never looking at twitter but basically theres a lot of people on enstars twitter who HATE aira. it depends on the person but its usually some variation of "he's racist." ive seen several people on twitter get harrassed and have to go private over making tweets that boiled down to "aira is fine actually." there are people who like him on there but i get the consensus that hating him is a very normal and accepted opinion to have
there is one interaction of aira's that i think is bad and choose to ignore like most enstars fans do with at least one of their favorite characters because sometimes the writing sucks lol. like most people choose to ignore all of the weird transphobic comments towards naru that their favs have made but apparently aira isnt allowed that same treatment? lol
but in general the way he's treated over there bothers me for a couple of reasons
1) stop drawing conclusions about characters when you havent fucking read their stories!!!! i know for a fact that most people who hate aira haven't even read most of the main story or feather touch or any story that talks about his character and just take what other people say about him at face value and its annoying. also they just disregard his growth as a character entirely 2) most people take a very western centric view when looking at him so they disregard his struggle with being mixed race because they dont think hes like. oppressed enough? when most people dont understand how different the culture in japan is and how it might actually affect him (again. read his stories please) 3) aira is like. 15. and yes, he is mean sometimes. he is a child. the way he acts is pretty normal teenager behavior, especially for someone who is written as being really insecure 4) he is not real!!!! you cannot ask a fictional character to take accountability for their actions because he is not going to make an apology video about it
this goes back to the thing i was saying in my other post about twitter's weird obsession with having the moral highground when it doesnt matter at all. liking an anime character is like the least harmful thing ever and trying to police what characters are ok to like isnt social justice grahfghdj
TLDR twitter loves calling aira racist and i think its really annoying, reductive of his character, and kind of just plain wrong, but its a really good example of twitter users feeling the need to try and be morally superior to other people for no reason over stupid things
#cryn answers#anon#sorry for how long this is shfjghdg#i didnt even get into people hating hiiai#same sort of thing aira is racist to hiiro and aira is an awful person etc#like read any alkaloid story and youll understand that isnt true and also you are not protecting hiiro by hating aira#hiiro LOVES aira. he mentions him in every other sentence#whatever. anyway

thinking about the person that asked “why are people so rude about vegans” and from my perspective it’s because a lot of people are vegan in the same way that a lot of christians are christian - it’s moral highground, it’s do or die, and it’s your personal goal to convert every single person you ever come across to be vegan.
like... i think the weirdest take i’ve seen is “the animal industry is the biggest perpetrator of animal rape, so if you don’t like animal rape, you should probably try being vegan”
what about... hunting? fishing? trading with / buying from someone you know that hunts or fishes? what about... supporting indigenous people? local farmers? what about learning to stretch your meat with other cheaper more sustainable options?
even beyond all that it’s so incredibly fucking strange to guilt trip complete strangers as being supporters of animal rape because they eat food that we have eaten since before we can remember. being vegan should be a choice that you make of your own volition, not an opportunity to get on your high horse about an issue you know damn well is so much more complicated than anyone can touch on without writing a full academic essay.
an essay about capitalism and overproduction for the sake of profit and gerrymandering and gentrification and corporate lobbying and taxing / restricting local farmers and (in the case of the US/americas) the genocide of people who had a handle on this shit long before colonialism killed the land and the flora and fauna and covered everything in asphalt and concrete

im not in the business of ripping pieces of canon to shreds particularly when whatever aspect of canon it is, while being stupid, offers a cool jumping off point for me to write 1 million words of mediocre fanfiction because a) i feel weird acting like i have some kind of artistic highground over media that actually has editors and animators and directors and shit and b) it would be hypocritical of me to position myself as the sole creator who can do that concept Justice. but. like. GRANDON WHY DID YOU MAKE BART A FAGGOT (positive) IF YOU WERE GONNA BE BORING AS HELL ABOUT IT

Different anon but thank you so much for such detailed and thoroughly written post Huh-nim! I read every words and your inside pov from a country that having war are really eye-opening. Wars are always a complicated matter with a lot of aspects to consider, I wish people who're irrationally jumping on the hate train can read this post to open their world view, sadly I don't think they want to listen to other perspective from their so call moral-highground.
I've been really upset since yesterday, I expect this is a good opportunity for antis to throw hate at him, but it's even worse that people call them self fans also refuse to acknowlegde the facts Korean fans already point out in detail about how this campaign only run in Korea, and have nothing to do with the war. They can't buy the meal if they're not in Korea, so it's not even boycotting, they just want to throw the word around thoughtlessly. Being fans I thought they would actually more interested in finding out if the informations that're harmful to him true or not but they instead keep spreading misinfo like wild fire, ignoring the fact it's a huge contact and not like he can get out of it just bc they want him to. Now some even threaten his safety at upcoming concert and fansign, how irony huh. Online attack is one thing but I really worry about his wellbeing. Hopefully SM can make sure the security will be good enough to protect him.
Yes, MD is a franchise, what the branch in one country does isn't connected to what other branch is doing. I've looked quickly into it (I wasn't aware of the thing with the company, apparently the boycott has been going on since early October). So the Israel branch (owned by some Israely businessmen, probably) donated free meals to soldiers and hospitals (hm, helping injured civilians, maybe even those attacked by terrorists in the border villages (?) is a bad deed indeed, as for the soldiers, from their POV they are fighting to rescue hostages, and in Isralian's eyes they are their protectors). Soon after, many branches in other countries (mostly majority muslim) donated to Palestine. And Korean campaign is about helping Korean children (another bad deed).
The behaviour of these fans simply speaks for their immaturity and lack of proper education (even Cambridge and Oxford fail people nowadays, I hear). Idols are low on the totem pole, they are entertainment, not human beings with feelings even. They and their image can be smeared with mud at any perceived "danger" to a fan's "higher morality". Just remember Jaehyun and his covid and bar scandal.
I doubt those who threated Do's wellbeing are his fans. Most ptobably they are the solo-stans of other members, and they just attack him "protected by the righteousness", knowing other fans will be hesitant to fight them off, that they have the stage to themselves. It's no different from Putin preaching "we fight to protect our (religious) values and (slavic) traditions". Even a dictator uses excuses before the masses, painting himself the good one.
People, who are quick to jumping on hate vagons shouldn't read me, I fear, I'm a Russian afterall. A common age nazi. So my wise words won't rich them.
I heard a comparison recently of the world with a gladiator arena. I liked it. It gives no excuse for self-pitying or for naivette. If you want to live, you must learn how to think for yourself and how to navigate the bloodbath happenning around you.
People are weird monkeys. We are non-agressive to our kin, which allows us to cooperate, share food, shelter, etc, but highly agressive to the others, the rival tribes who potentially can take our food and other resources. We progressed technologically, but not biologically. We are still primitive animals with a grenade in hand. Civility, refinement, culturedness are all just a thin layer of late addition software atop of older software and hardware. We are stripped of them in a blink of an eye unless we learn true morals and acquire integrity.
When an idol is labeled as good, he is "ours", "belonging to my tribe of good people". Once someone says that the idol is bad, he is ousted from "friends" to "enemies" category right away. And the rules of attitude change in an instant. You can't like him anymore, you can't protect him anymore, he is "our enemy", and if you think otherwise "you are like him, you are the enemy as well". A mob is formed and starts to live by the herd rules.
Researchers from Hebrew University, NYU, and MIT explored herd mentality in online spaces, specifically in the context of "digitized, aggregated opinions."[7] Online comments were given an initial positive or negative vote (up or down) on an undisclosed website over five months.[8] The control group comments were left alone.
The researchers found that "the first person reading the comment was 32% more likely to upvote it if it had been already given a fake positive score."[8] Over the five months, comments artificially rated positively showed a 25% higher average score than the control group, with the initial negative vote ending up with no statistical significance in comparison to the control group.[7] The researchers found that "prior ratings created significant bias in individual rating behavior, and positive and negative social influences created asymmetric herding effects."[7]
"That is a significant change," Dr. Aral, one of the researchers involved in the experiment, stated. "We saw how these very small signals of social influence snowballed into behaviors like herding."[8]
Doyoung wanted to help the children of his country but in return for his kindness gets bashed by virtue-signalling people.
What can you do? Grow your own head, have a proper moral compass, gather as much information as possible before taking a stance or making decisions, and understand that people be people - easily manipulated and swayed emotional and aggressive beings.
