Mobius is the only one with empty flower beds btw and he apparently breakfasts on Nuka-Cola and probably some junk food from that lunchbox. Unlike, of course, his Mr Hypertension boyfriend who only has a single coffee cup on the bench but all the flowers

Higgs Village 11/11/81
What a strange place. It's hard to believe these brains-in-jars were once human -- 200 years really does take a toll on the mind. Between the ones that think they're computers and the absolute pervs, they seem relatively harmless though.
The valley is filled with these so-called "lobotomites," unfortunate victims of previous operations. Besides the killer-bots and mutated dogs, not too bad.
It seems there was another courier and others well-versed in scientific practice that passed through here -- other possible vault dwellers? I've been seeing strange markings around a few of the buildings: a vertical flag of sorts, spray painted onto doors and walls. I can't tell where I've seen them before, though.

Recently discovered that Spike (the little Deathclaw in Gabe’s doghouse) is not a part of the regular game. And is in fact, only a part of Wild Wasteland.
Heartbroken.

People always ask, "why do you like him?", or "he's ugly!" You don't have to like him, but I do. I love his personality. I love the way he smiles, and I love his godforsaken eyes. I love the way he treats people 90% of the time. He's got charisma. The man's deep and he's dangerous when he has to be. Most of all, he tries, man. That's more than what most of us do. If you don't like him that's fine. He's a flawed sob and I love that about him, and btw he's fictional and you just thought about him didn't you?

From blood births life and death - Chapter 5
Success with no purpose
Word Count: 2,084
MASTERPOST
Maya was painfully aware of being wanted by the military, and that probably all the activity back in the headquarters was solely focused on trying to find a way to get her back. No, not her. The documents. She still hadn’t had time to read them, and she probably wouldn’t have had any even later.
She had stolen them with success, but for what purpose? She should have returned back to the colony the day later, as soon as possible, at all costs. She knew that Higgs would have been probably involved, and she knew how ruthless that man could be. He would have ordered to raid the whole village - for how comical it must have sounded - just to gain back the truth he and his allies had been hiding.
Maya worked so hard to finally uncover it, she thought. She rolled abruptly on the soft cloth that served as her makeshift bed, clenching her fists around her ginger locks and pulling her hair in frustration. She just had to read the mission report and prove that Higgs was basing his whole colonialist propaganda on lies, yet it always seemed to fail for her. Maybe it was a plan too ambitious for a seventeen-year-old girl. Maybe she just liked to play the rebel, pretending to seek revenge for her father’s death. Maybe it was really useless.
She turned around again, sighing in frustration. She must have moved too abruptly, because she felt the wound on her leg sting again. She clenched her teeth, trying to stifle a lament.
“Can’t sleep?”
The boy’s voice grounded her back to reality, almost startling her. She thought he was already fast asleep by that moment. Well, maybe he thought the same, but her restless Maya’s tossing and turning in bed must have made it impossible for him to sleep.
“Mh?”
“Y-Yeah.” She replied, covering her head under the tissue, in embarrassment.
Andrew rubbed his eyes and sat down next to her, resting the head on his arm, on the table.
A smile tugged at his lips, as he slightly tugged the tissue away from her to see Maya’s face to see her better.
“Does your leg still hurt?” He asked softly, Maya’s gaze meeting his eyes as she sat up.
“Kinda.”
He must have thought she was one of a few words, not that he was particularly an extrovert himself. At least, he didn’t seem on the verge of passing out from anxiety anymore, and this kinda made Maya feel a little better.
”Thanks, by the way.”
“And for what?- I mean, yeah, I couldn’t just.. leave you there to die. It would have been cruel.”
Maya chuckled to herself as he looked back at him, bringing her knees near her chest and resting her arms on them.
“Still not as cruel as the things they say about your kind.” She thought to herself, her voice barely audible since she didn’t want him to actually hear.
He still noticed her shift in attitude, and tilted his head slightly in curiosity.
“What?”
”It’s just… - Maya trailed off. - let's say humans aren’t so… fond of your kind.”
Andrew’s cheeks flushed a bit in embarrassment. She instantly regretted her words as she saw the look on the boy’s eyes.
”N-not me tho!” Maya continued, her voice now higher in volume. “It’s quite complicated to explain, but…”
Andrew kept looking at her, his eyes both wary and curious in a certain way.
“It’s just what they tell us. Really stupid stuff, rules, warnings, you shouldn’t worry about it.”
But the look on her face told that maybe she was the one that should’ve had to worry about these rules. She knew it, yet she never cared about it.
But now that she’d actually done something serious, doubts started duplicating in her mind. Again, she thought about the trouble of when she would have gotten back to the colony.
“Rules? What kind of… rules?” He asked.
“Humans shouldn’t interact with your kind. They say you’re.. dangerous. It’s just that.”
It wasn’t just that, obviously. But Maya thought, and thought well, that maybe that was enough. She didn’t know much about the actual ideas the new leaders were onto, even if she wanted to, and she couldn’t start telling random conspiracies to a stranger, let alone a giant, even if he was trying to be understanding.
Andrew shrugged in response.
“I mean, it’s not like I could blame them. But… we haven’t seen one of you here from, uh, only the Gods know how much.”
“Yeah, again… It’s complicated.”
And Maya hated it. Why was everything so fucking complicated all the time?
If her father was still alive, all those stupid warnings and made up scare techniques Scott introduced wouldn’t exist.
She clenched her fists, a frown deepening into her face. She knew there was something under it, and not being able to comprehend it was more than frustrating.
“Guess humans just found this land appealing again, huh?” She tried to joke around it, even if it was everything other than funny.
“Guess so. But it's kind of weird not wanting to interact with us at all costs, if they did.”
Maya shook her head, shrugging.
“If I was the leader things would be different, trust me.”
Andrew gave her a small nod, clearly too tired to elaborate further response. She even felt a little guilty for keeping him awake all night after he saved her. She really must have been a pain, she thought, yet he’d been so patient.
The proof that whatever dehumanizing propaganda humans were spreading just as a scare tactic, was in fact wrong, made her blood boil from anger.
For him, it must have been all new, even unbelievable. A creature you thought not to even exist spawning out of nowhere, telling you that she shouldn’t even have interacted with you because of some unexplained rules. It must have been so utterly confusing, and despite the initial panic, Andrew was handling it well. Maybe not exactly well, but better than whatever Maya had imagined. He looked like he genuinely cared about her being okay, despite his naive attitude and curiosity.
She looked back at him, who had now drifted off with his head nestled between his arms. For how much she hated the new propaganda and believed in her father’s pacifist ideas, she wasn’t surprised that who had been depicted as a ruthless savage was literally just a guy.
As the memory of her father came back into her mind, she turned around and looked at the bag that was still laying on the table, next to her makeshift bed.
She stretched her arm and grabbed it, ravaging inside and pulling out the now crumpled sheets. She read through the document quickly, almost frantically, her eyes darting from one side of the page to the other as she searched for any trace of what might reveal the truth behind the mission. Her father’s aim, she knew, was to establish a peaceful collaboration rather than seizing and exploiting the land. That much was clear; he had written it boldly in capital letters in that very document. Yet, as for any mention of an “interaction” with the natives? Nothing—not a single trace.
Still, she’d been told her father was killed by a native. How convenient, she thought, that no proof existed of that claim. But to be fair, there wasn’t proof, either, that he’d been murdered by his own companions—or rather, those who had called themselves his companions. Of course, Higgs would never have documented something like that, but she knew that in her bones. Her father had died for his ideals, ideals that clashed with the pure colonialism Higgs was trying to impose.
And if she had no way to prove it, there was no way to stop whatever plan he was building.
She sighed, lying back down on the cloth, arms stretched at her sides holding scattered pages of the document. She turned on her side and tucked them back in her bag, trying to doze off just a bit, at least before getting back to the colony and facing the consequences of her actions.
—----------------------------------------------------------
Not long passed before dawn actually arrived, the sun rays illuminating the vast room with a warm glow. And now, the unfunny part: understanding how to get back to her colony. She still hadn’t talked about it with Andrew, maybe out of fear or maybe because she needed time to reason on it. She needed to think, to create a sort of plan, but nothing came to her mind.
In fact, it was him who brought up the topic first, as how expectable it was to do it if she didn’t find the courage in time.
“So, uh, Maya… you know, I’m not really the type to keep you hostage.. - Andrew said, trying to lighten up the mood despite the uncomfortable question - so.. I mean, there must be a place you came from, right?”
Yeah, right, dude.
And obviously she couldn’t reach it alone, and neither could he, given the traps - or rather, “safety precautions” as Higgs liked to call them - right all around the perimeter of the human colony.
Maya’s eyes widened, and he saw the flicker of panic in her eyes return. “U-uh… well…” she stammered, looking down at her still bloodied hands. She rushed a hand through her hair.
“Given the fact that I shouldn’t even be talking to you right now, I don’t know how to handle the situation, to be honest.” Andrew looked at her, half curious and half confused.
“Well, you don’t have to tell me, you know, everything. - he clearly wasn’t at ease with the matter either, but he was trying to keep it simple, maybe for her or maybe for the sake of his own sanity. “If you don’t want anybody of your kind to know you interacted with me, I could just… give you a ride where they don’t see you. Or me.”
Maya looked up at him, her eyes filled with uncertainty. She knew she had to make a decision, and soon. But the thought of trusting someone she barely knew, even someone as kind as Andrew, was terrifying. Especially because she knew what trouble she threw herself into, even if the real consequences were still unknown to her. She didn’t want him to be involved for sure, but she couldn’t really make sure of that. What if the three soldiers had seen him rescuing her the night before? Not only would she be in trouble, but he would have been a target for sure, and she didn’t want that. She wasn’t really ready to dump everything on him, telling him the dangers and consequences, so she just needed to trust the process. Everything was going to be fine, until she got back inside, at least. Maya tried to get up to test how painful the wound still was. Fortunately, the bullet didn’t hit any bones, just flesh, and he night before she had most likely passed out because of the sheer pain.
She wobbled a bit, Andrew stretching out his hand to help her keep her balance,
“You okay?”
Maya looked up at him, nodding as she got herself back on her feet, holding onto his finger.
“Yes, I think I can do that.” She said finally, referring to what he’d proposed before, a light smile tugging at her lips despite the initial doubt. Maybe he didn’t expect her boldness, since he was kind of taken aback by her response. Maybe he hoped she would deny the offer, his usual - at least for how Maya could have observed - anxious demeanor coming back to the surface. He smiled nervously, nodding slightly.
“Okay… uh..”
The mere fact of holding her again made him feel sick. He wasn’t used to it, and it came with an insane quantity of responsibility he didn’t feel ready to face. What if she dropped her? What if he unintentionally hurt her? What if? What if… okay, no more overthinking. As he saw the almost impatient-nervous look on Maya’s face yet slightly covered by the soft smile on her lips, he finally reached out, to let her climb on his palm.
His eyes widened in surprise as he noticed the human’s unexpected ease, like she had done this on a daily basis. How come? He thought. Just the night before she was in shock, screaming, shouting and praying for her life.
Well, humans were pretty weird. Now he had the proof.

“In September, the government led by Conservative Blaine Higgs announced almost $1.5 million for Village of Hope, a residential program in Upper Tracy, about 50 kilometres south of Fredericton. The money was meant to help the facility expand and to build a women's dorm.
At the time, advocates for people struggling with addiction said funding religious-based programs is not in itself a bad thing, but it needed to be balanced with secular programs. Village of Hope remains the only residential 10-month recovery program in the province for adults.”
“Lamrock's report says after cabinet approved the funding, the corporation was "tasked" with getting an application from Village of Hope.
The report says in granting funding to Village of Hope, the corporation "did not even review Village of Hope Inc.'s own due diligence report, let alone invite commentary from experts."
He said other addiction services that apply for government funding from the Department of Health have to go through regulatory hoops and commit to consistent reporting of results before they're granted funding.
Lamrock said being faith-based should not mean the program gets less scrutiny.
"This is the very definition of a program jumping the queue, as it placed Village of Hope Inc. on a playing field much less regulated and monitored than the process applied to other treatment programs," the report says.
Lamrock said the corporation is "politicized" and "has no place in the funding of social programs."”
“"Currently, several government departments appear to refer vulnerable people to Village of Hope while taking no responsibility for oversight to avoid exploitation," Lamrock said, noting that attending Village of Hope includes unpaid labour and supervised living conditions.
Lamrock said any private addiction facility should be closely regulated because it serves vulnerable people.
"There's no evidence of exploitation. However, the fact that situations are ripe for exploitation should be the trigger. Not whether or not one actually sees something," he said.”
“Faith-based addiction centre” should be automatically grounds for suspicion, not immediate rubber-stamp approval and funding, imo.
