returning to leave a couple of mixed reviews on French art from past weeks

“Water Lilies”, Céline Sciamma's debut movie from 2007, really good. I think Sciamma is great at offering a glimpse on the world of (queer) teenagers (and even younger kids) without it ever feeling too judgmental or saccharine, and her first movie is proof of that. Then again maybe I'm just biased because I'm a basic ass lesbian and this movie is a such a clear mirror on events from my teenage years that took me a long time to understand

“L'Envol”, Alcest's new single: boring ass song based on vibes and nothing else, which is not nearly enough for eight (!!) minutes. I can't live on atmosphere alone and I know Neige can write cool riffs, I wish he remembered too. Not optimistic about a new album if this is representative of the contents

Her mission is simple.

That’s how it’s always been. How it should have been.

But, instead, she is standing in a pool of blood, the dead bodies of a middle aged couple at her feet. In her hand she holds a gun, finger pressed on the trigger, but there are no more rounds left and when she pulls, nothing but a click sounds.

Her instinct tells her to walk to the stairs.

Feet dragging, smearing red across the perfectly white carpet, Lila pauses right at the foot, the toes of her boot lightly kicking the small door before her. She squints, crouching, and her fingers recoil for a moment as she turns the knob.

There is a moment of understanding in her eyes, of fear and uncertainty and the hope that she is dreaming, but when she opens the door, her gun falls, clattering.

The boy huddled in the corner, hugging his knees, stares at her with big brown eyes.

man the hyperfixation is gone i have ONE SCENE TO WRITE im gonna finishthis fucking novel length longfic if it kills me but its like pulling teeth writing this last scene all i have is ONE SCENE (but it has multiple characters and is hard to storyboard) and then to edit it and post. i keep drawing it out bc writing a ton of ppl in a room is hard and now im already at like 8000 words xD
