Long story short: I made a bunch of progress on it before deciding to take a small step back and rethink the think because it grew a bit out of control (in a good way). I'm hoping to first do a smaller release of another Wednesday/Wenclair game idea I have before going back to my dating sim.

Longer story: my excitement for my dating sim game along with my wealth of ideas overtook me. That, along with my inexperience with Godot 4 led to me pretty much focussing too much on everything.

Though my dating sim game pretty much has all the independent gameplay elements working, it's been tricky actually piecing them together. I tried to make my game engine be flexible enough from the start to work with everything I wanted and run smoothly that I essentially overengineered it to a point where it's clear my overall structured was not right ☠️ (Which is no good because when I did manage to put things together, stuff kept breaking. But also, the saddest thing was that it was no longer fun for me to work on)

So, I decided to take a small break from it to regain my bearings and start again with something less complex so I'm more confident in what I end up releasing. This has now resulted in a stepping stone Wednesday/Wenclair game project I have which will follow a more episodic and linear format so it'll be easier for me to get a better grasp of Godot 4 and reuse things for my dating sim eventually.

This new project has been going much better and I have already been able to take things from my dating sim project to improve on. It's just taking me some time to work on, esp with this time of year being generally busier for me.

Probably not the kind of response that was expected but it's slowly getting there 😬

Yeah so I think there's generally a smaller group of Scooby Doo Blogs (not so small that you know everyone, but enough where you'll have your friends and then be surprised to discover a few more people) and those Scooby blogs actively watch and post about Scooby on the regular and make up the main group of "Scooby fandom" on a normal basis. But the thing that makes the size hard to quantify I guess is like the "sleeper fans" who liked the show when they were little and will make or reblog Scooby posts when it's a site-wide topic of conversation (as seen in the whole Velma fiasco etc.) which will temporarily inflate Scooby fandom to massive proportions. (These are the same people who reliably vote scooby on large polls and stuff, normally giving us a finish somewhere in the semifinals) So really the number of Scooby Doo Blogs who talk about the show on a regular basis is probably somewhere around 50 (only about half regularly scoobyposting) but because of the ubiquitous nature of the show for many in the US (and from what I've seen parts of the rest of the Americas) Scooby Doo fandom can blow up pretty quickly if given a reason

i kind of find it funny that a few months ago, i was seeing quite a few people say that they didn’t know there was a Scooby Doo fandom/that Scooby Doo had a lot of fans because it makes me think that even though there are a lot of people in the Scooby Doo fandom across many sites, there’s not a lot in comparison to other, bigger, and more well known fandoms. like it isn’t one of those fandoms that everyone knows about and can’t escape or avoid. i’m not saying the fandom is so so small that everyone knows everyone, or saying that this is a bad thing at all, because it’s not. i just feel like if you’re not a Scooby Doo fan, you could probably be on the internet for years and years and never know about the Scooby Doo fandom, as opposed to more well known fandoms that you’re not a part of but keep seeing a lot/you definitely know about.

1. yes will was def based on that! also will is Not Like Other Boys by the show’s definition (he’s called sensitive and quiet several times and obviously a huge part of his arc is how he is Different, and that applies both to his sexuality and just his nature in relation to boys his age) so we wanted to make sure we kept that so that we stayed in line to the integrity of his character. so he doesn’t like getting dirty, he doesn’t like bugs, he likes soft things like stuffed animals and blankets — all of that is trying to make sure will still feels like will despite it being a modern au!

2. that is the correct grouping, yes! i wouldn’t necessarily say we thought of it being the wrong side of the tracks type thing, but that is a really cool interpretation! honestly we just needed mike and will to only have interaction at summer camp and the few whole-party events they have throughout the year — if they went to the same school, they wouldn’t have the conflict they do. and That conflict is a spoiler :^)

I've always wanted to animate, but I've never had the resources and have never been confident enough in my skills to try. I feel like each piece is a practice in movement. I saw a change in my work when I decided to start drawing scenes instead of characters.

As for inspiration, I try to go to the library or bookstores as often as i can. I don't like just being able to look up whatever image I want. It forces me to consume new things. Having sketchbooks that are for experimenting is helpful too.

Never save anything for later. If you have an idea, get it out as soon as possible. If you have a pen or paint you're interested in now, use it now. Notebooks are better full of bad ideas than blank pages.

1. All of the cg are orphans, and half of them remember their parents. Besides Green and Purple, Blue definitely still remembers hers and she adored them. Red and Yellow barely remember theirs. And... hm, I guess Orange is kind of a different story. Though, can you call him an orphan if Alan, his Avatar, is his guardian?

2. Well fhbfkf this is still something Im trying to figure out too. I will say, Mango only adopts Purple, and Green never gets to meet Mango at all. Here's how it kind of goes:

A tragedy occurs within the Heath family and Purple and Green sadly get separated. Purple is left behind at the slums with their parents. The two never see each other again (at least for a decade). Some time after this, the slums get burned down, but Purple was outside of the slums and he was barred from getting back inside. You can guess what happened to their parents...

Purple, being a coder and now a fresh orphan, is at risk of getting captured and becoming a slave.

For some reason somehow, Mango visits this kingdom. I do not know what for, or how yet, but he eventually finds Purple and takes him in. Mayhaps, he noticed Purp was one of the few coders in this kingdom? Nevertheless, he knows the kid was at risk for slavery. He certainly does not want that to happen to his fellow coders, especially the kids.

3. Sadly, Gold isn't alive in this AU. But! He serves as the reason Mango does what he does. If he were alive, Mango probably wouldn't be the chancellor of the prestigious coder school he founded, nor I guess, the ruler of his nation of coders. You could say his nation's the safe haven for coders, in the same way Acadia's kingdom's the safe haven for slaves from all backgrounds.

4. For now, the sound and plant dungeons are the main dungeons I have in the AU

I do want to add more, but due to the current concept of dungeons being tests to determine a potential ruler's candidate, which is more serious than a typical dungeon that isn't raised by an Assistant, it's kind of hard to really be flexible with them. I mean! The dungeons themselves, I like to imagine the environments inside them are unique depending on the Avatar that rules over them. The Avatars make their own rules for each of their own domains. But the rules surrounding dungeons are.... Uh

Okay. I'll be rambling- forgive me fjbskfbdk

It's a system.

First, the Assistants raise the dungeons. Then there would be people either chosen by the Assistants or simply ambitious enough who enter them with the goal of clearing the dungeon.

Avatars are beings that rule the dungeons. They oversee these people, and make them go through their handcrafted trial rooms. They are the reason dungeons in this world are known to be holes of death.

Whoever clears their dungeon will not only get you riches, but also the title of Ruler's Candidate and the power of the Dungeon Master themselves. The Avatar would usually choose whatever metal object on the Candidate's person, and make it their vessel. From then on, the Avatar will stay by their Candidate's side, allowing them to use their powers 'til the Candidate's death. They also serve as the main indicator the Candidate is, well, a Ruler's Candidate, who has captured a dungeon.

When a Candidate dies, the Avatar will then leave their vessel, and wait until an Assistant raises their dungeon once again. And that process starts all over.

A Candidate can have more than one Avatar vessel, meaning yes- they are allowed to conquer more dungeons- but to even achieve your 2nd Avatar, you'd need to be skilled with your first. Because Im pretty sure that an Avatar can sense a Candidate and their vessel, which would for sure push them to make trials hell.

.....That said, I just have no ideas beyond the sound and plant dungeons. The cg will absolutely die if they're not careful in these dungeons.

They're pretty important, for me personally. If the cg entered other dungeons, then they probably wouldn't be the kind of dungeons the Assistants raise. Though this is just a recent idea- so I need to think about this more. I do lean more to the idea of dungeons under the Candidate system being the only type of dungeon in this world. The world is magical enough outside of them I think.

The sound dungeon is the first dungeon introduced, in the same arc Orange, Green, and Red are introduced. The whole cg haven't met yet.

I don't have art of the Avatars yet so just have these. The notes are a lil old and some of these will most likely change, but the sound dungeon is ruled by Melodaize, the Sound Avatar.

The plant dungeon is the second dungeon introduced, but this time all of the cg are together (minus Purple, he's not really part of the cg's adventures). It is ruled by Bay Lauvar.

Avatars do in fact have minds of their own. Though they do follow the same system the Assistants follow to ensure a Ruler's Candidate, it doesn't mean they can't. . well. Be assholes, lmao. Think of Bay Lauvar like Dark in this AU. Maliciously compliant to the system.

Because Avatars have minds of their own, they have the ability to choose their vessel. Usually they would choose who they deem worthy for the Candidate title. In Bay's case, even though Green has an Avatar and is already a Candidate, they would choose Blue as their vessel, making her a Ruler's Candidate. Mostly because Green is in fact not skilled with his Avatar, and also Bay dislikes him- actually dislikes the whole cg, except for Orange and Blue.

Honestly, so much happens in the plant dungeon! But I only got stray moments in mind fjtkhkg-

The cg nearly die here. They were not ready to tackle another dungeon, but Bay isn't at complete fault for the cg nearly dying.....I guess, mostly at fault for Blue losing her legs- but they're not at fault for Green falling into a coma.

I do have a few thoughts for other dungeons- but they would be dungeons Chosen led his Candidate Freedom Guy Acadia in, when they were still around.

Anyway.

Orange: Innocent, perhaps? And I guess he comes off really naive and ignorant, to an extent. Green unfortunately has to deal with it, just like the unwilling big brother he is.

Green: Sly. He's greedy, and deceitful. Though pretty approachable for personal gain. I mean. Why else would he keep Orange around at first? But well, in Orange's view, he knows he cares about him more than that at least.

Red: Spontaneous. I find him very driven by emotions, and while I do think he may be impulsive at times due to them, it's not like he doesn't think about what he does often.

Blue: Sweetheart. Listen. She seems mom friend to me. She's very kind and compassionate and huggable.

Yellow: Cowardly. It's not like she's shy or a nervous wreck or anything. Rather, she's weak willed. She isn't very confident in herself either.

Purple: Prideful. He's kind of a tiny bit of an asshole and certainly confident in himself. I also think somehow he's doing better than the rest of the cg mental health-wise funnily enough. Not completely, but still lmao

People have the right to disagree with writing smut about Ni-ki-that’s their opinion and they 100% have the right to feel that way-but if they don’t like it, they should block it and move on. Jungwon is only a year older than Ni-ki and people have been writing smut about him for a long time, and no one bats an eye. Why is there such a double standard? People argue saying “Ni-ki just turned 18”. So, I’m curious to ask them-what exactly is the right time to start writing it by -your- standard? If people wait 3/4/5 months, it would be fine? I don’t get it. And why do people have to abide by -your- standard? It comes off as one of the biggest instances of virtue signaling I’ve ever seen

Look, I watched i-land too. Ni-ki quickly became my favorite because of his talent, sense of humor, humility and kindness-believe me, I’m protective of him too. I get it if some people can’t see him as an adult now because they’re having a hard time separating who he is now from who he was then. But the reality is, he’s growing up and he’s not a little kid anymore. Of course he’s still young and still has his innocent side but he’s certainly not as innocent as some people think he is-because they don’t think about him as a real person, they only see the perfect image that he chooses to show us. And I can understand why. I know kpop companies warp and mold idols’ images into what they want them to be seen as and it’s easy to forget that, once you become a fan and you’re deep in it. I feel like I get lost in it too sometimes. I’ll be honest, I lost my virginity at 17 and was thinking about sex long before that. If people think Ni-ki doesn’t have sexual thoughts like a normal 18 year old, they seriously need to be realistic. In addition, if people think he isn’t trying to shed his “cute”/“baby” image, they really need to get a grip too. I think about how they would feel if someone actually killed themselves because of the hate they gave them and I would hope that they would actually feel sorry and ashamed but it seems like they’re so far in their narcissistic bubble with their moral grandstanding and so grossly desensitized to saying it in normal conversation that they’d be like “whatever” or “good, they deserved it”. These people are seriously not as edgy and cool as they think they are. They’re immature, twisted, and toxic. Seriously, they give me sociopath vibes. They really think they *hold the torch of wisdom and morals* meanwhile they’re telling someone to s1it their wrists and k¡ll themselves. Make it make sense. In reality, they seem like worse people than the ones they send hate too. And they’re also calling people fat and ugly and fatherless (😀?) when all else fails lmao. What is this, the 4th grade? I’d laugh if I wasn’t so disgusted. Like pls….you’re not funny 💀 Definitely exposes their elementary school/middle school selves, you can really tell how young they are when they respond in that way. Like if you don’t like it, block it. Yet instead they choose to go out of their way to send kys messages…. I can’t fathom how telling someone to k¡ll themselves makes you a better person than them.

It just makes me sick and sad honestly. I’m glad you’re strong because ik you’re probably getting a lot of hate for what you’re doing, but you always respond to it in a mature way, when you do choose to respond to it. Yeah, always feel free to delete as many hate messages as you want, don’t even give them attention. I hope it doesn’t get to you too much and I hope you’re doing well and continue to do well. Just know you’re definitely not alone and have a lot of people who feel the same way. 🩷 And I already talked about the people who send hate to you and others and the kind of people they really are.

there's like f1 tiktok that directly lifts their discourse/thoughts from tumblr. (stuff from my blog has ended up there and I don't even have a tiktok. hi person who posts nicology verbatim from here 👋) but then people fucking read and reference fic stuff (5 million word martian, a/b/o) and it gets a bunch of views cause younger zoomers r more open about fic culture/ao3. but this is rpf, there's actual drivers on the app, social media teams following on the fanbase trends (ferrari admin saying sebchal, carlando etc) and you can't filter content that shows up algorithmically. there used to be a social contract, esp in rpf contexts, that you Do Not post it where the real people involved can see it and keep it in your pockets of the internet, and tiktok does not follow that 😶
