Accuphase Joins HFL's Portfolio!

Hi All,

So the next news we have in readiness for the lifting of retail Lockdown is that we are really proud to add Accuphase to our portfolio of brands and products, for those you don’t know Accuphase is considered Japan’s High end HiFi offering to the world.

I must admit that when I was first shown one of the integrated amps by my rep a few months ago I was tottally smitten by the looks even before it had made a single note , I mean what is not to love about the VU Meters and their very retro look but once you start using their products you realise they just ooze class, they are so beautifully made and extremely well engineered, every button and knob is a joy to operate, when you are next in please feel free to have a twiddle, Accuphase really are up there with the best when it comes to understanding that everything matters, I’m actually not using the remote so that I have the joy of using the manual volume knob, anyway enough of my perversions, oh yes and they only come in Champagne Gold, which I know may not be for everyone but it they certainly make a statement and actually look really classy in the flesh.

But obviously it is the sound that matters and needless to say they don’t disappoint here, for a company that is approaching it’s 50th anniversary I think it’s fair to say they know what they are doing by now, I first heard the 30 watt Pure Class A E-650 Integrated and we used it to drive the Magneplanar 20.7’s which are a very difficult speaker to get the best from but it really did make them sing, in all honesty I have never heard them sound better, I think it is fair to say with the limited listening I have had so far that the Accuphase house sound is honest but slightly on the warmer and full bodied side, very much a Class A sound but even their non Class A amps still carry that sound so they have all the detail but they are not bright or forward, just very natural and musical.

Accuphase Laboratory, Inc. is a Japanese, Yokohama-based high-end audio equipment manufacturer founded by former Kenwood engineer Jiro Kasuga in late 1972 who was unhappy with the direction Kenwood where going in so he took engineers from Marantz and Luxman and formed Accuphase. The name ACCUPHASE was adapted by taking the prefix ACCU from the word “accurate”, and combining it with PHASE which is a most important factor in audio technology. Accuphase are well known for producing extremely high quality products so if you are looking for a new amp and are taken by the looks of Accuphase then feel free to come into HFL to give them a listen as I’m pretty sure you’ll be very impressed as I was.

At the moment we have the new E-380 Integrated on demo which is to be followed very shortly by the new monster E-800 50 Watt Pure Class Amp, really can’t wait to get my hands on this, all their integrateds and Preamps can be fitted with either a digital DAC board as well as a Phono Board so they really can be a very neat solution for people who don’t want loads of boxes.

Do any of your ocs celebrate the festive season? If so, how? :3c

oooo this is a fun question!

Maple has seen people celebrate the holidays over many centuries but refuses to partake in any of it as it doesn't really have anybody to gifts to or see. With money that it steals from campers, however, it'll brave a trip into town in order to get some special holiday meat from the butchers and will cook that up for itself as a little holiday treat. Maple loves the quiet that results from people staying in their homes celebrating with people, so it often goes for long walks through unclaimed territory during this time.

Pelleas is in a similar boat as Maple with not celebrating anything, but he's just too selfish and standoffish for the holidays and finds them stupid. He celebrates for a different reason, though- at this time of year, especially New Year's, people get absolutely wasted, which makes it the perfect time to go out and hunt people. There's always a couple of bodies found around the beach this time of year...always.

Trace goes and visits his parents for the holidays, helping them cook up a grand Christmas dinner which his excellent cooking skills. He absolutely adores Christmas and always goes a little overboard when buying presents for his folks and friends! If Pillow can't visit her family, he takes her along with him to his folks so she's not on her own. He and Pillow always hang out together on New Year's Eve though, sometimes at Trace's, and sometimes at Pillow's, where she does a special New Year's Eve stream for her followers.

Pillow celebrates Christmas too, but half the time she doesn't have the money to travel back home to see her folks. When she does have available funds, she stays over there till around the end of December, and then travels back to her home to spend New Year's Eve together with Trace. She often streams if she can't see friends or family, wanting to provide her followers with a bit of comfort if they're stuck on their own over the holidays as well, and sometimes she drags Trace into it if he's around as a special "collaboration" stream. He's quite popular amongst her chat, much to his embarrassment!

Buttons feels a little strange whenever they hear about "Christmas". It feels very familiar to them but they just don't know why, which upsets them more than they'd admit. They tend to get a little depressed around this time of year due to that, as well as the cold making them and their friends a bit more sluggish and sleepy. Bugsy will often get its bug minions to scout for a good corpse for Buttons as a gift to try and cheer them up a little bit with a new project.

Miki finds the festive season fascinating and loves observing people rushing around shopping and meeting others. Surprisingly he likes the aesthetic side of Christmas a lot as well and finds the soft glow of the decorative lights around the town and in people's homes to be really cosy. His little apartment gets quite the glow up around this time of year and becomes a lovely little haven for them to chill in. They usually make sure that they have a decent stockpile of organs and flesh to consume over the holidays as he enjoys going out and drinking up the atmosphere. He doesn't have anybody to give gifts to, but it's the perfect time of year to get a gift or two for himself as a treat.

What Splatoon weapon would your ocs main? (Feel free to do as many or as few as you want!)

Maple uses the Clash Blaster! It's a devastating and hard to escape weapon up close, just like Maple is when it goes into a panicked frenzy. It'd give another reason for other Flytraps to hate it too- everybody hates a Clash Blaster main!

Pelleas uses the Carbon Roller! Nimble and quick, he would absolutely shark and lurk, waiting for unsuspecting prey to draw too close...and then BAM! They're splatted on his beloved roller~ He'd definitely run a Ninja Squid build too so he's extra stealthy.

Trace uses the E-Liter 4K! Patience and protection is Trace's game, he just loves watching you from afar with his scoped charger. It allows him to pick off his foes with precision one by one, and the little laser of his charger is always following you around to protect you.

Pillow uses the Dapple Dualies! She loves going in all guns blazing, and the Dapple Dualies would let her do just that! Getting up close and personal gets her heart racing, and she'd love erratically dashing around to mess with her opponents.

Buttons uses the Splat Brella! They'd like the protection of this weapon a lot, opting to protect teammates as they lead with their Brella. It lets them protect themself as well which is good as they don't want ink on their body!

Miki uses the Bamboozler! He uses this as an intimidation tactic- the weapon absolutely sucks, everybody knows this, so why are they using it!? They'd be scarily good at using it...when he can be bothered. The more up close and personal aspect of this particular charger makes it fun for Miki to use.

🧸 for whoever you want to do, I just think this one is cute! (Everyone, if you feel up to it!)

🧸 Do they have any stuffed animals? If so, are they decorative or do they sleep with them?

Maple – Has no plushies due to living away from human civilisation, but if given one, it would absolutely love how soft it is! And it would make the nights spent in its’ cave a lot less scary too. Would definitely ask you for a few more if it felt confident enough to!

Pelleas – He wouldn’t admit it, but he’d absolutely have one of those giant axolotl squishmallows that he’d snuggle up to. He’d also have a small little collection of other axolotl plushies that would be for display in the only tidy part of his bedroom, but the squishmallow would be his pride and joy. Would definitely take pictures of his plush collection to put on his social media account.

Trace – His plush is a little more special than the others here…he’d have a plush that his beloved won for him back in the day when he went to a carnival with them and Pillow, and if I do get around to fully making HFL one day, you’d be able to see it in his home! He absolutely sleeps with it, and it’s slightly worn and frayed from how much he nuzzles up against it when he sleeps. Sometimes he’ll find himself talking to it when he’s really missing his beloved.

Pillow – She has a few plushies on her ever-messy bed, with the most important one there being her childhood plush. She’s had to patch it up a few times over the years due to all the wear and tear it got, so it’s incredibly precious to her. It’s a nice little link back home too, and she’ll hug it when she misses her family.

Buttons – They wouldn’t have plushies or stuffed animals in the, uh, traditional sense, but they would in the taxidermy sense! They haven’t done many stuffed taxidermy projects because they prefer to focus on bones, but there’s one or two small projects that they’ve done like that which are on display in their little wooden cabin…

Miki – He doesn’t really see the appeal of plushies, so their little flat remains a squishless zone…but they would probably get interested in those weird uncanny horror stuffed animals that people make, with the realistic teeth and eyes and all that. Would definitely start collecting those sort of plushies if he found out about them.

Which starter pokemon would your ocs choose?

Sorry it's taken so long to answer this, I wanted to make sure it was just right! :D

♡ Maple would have a Turtwig! Slow and full of defence, it mirrors Maple rather well! The two would definitely love laying out in the rain and absorbing water through their skin and shells respectively. The Turtwig would be very healthy and looked after with Maple's care, and Maple would absolutely love the little guy.

♡ Pelleas would have a Mudkip! He probably wouldn't evolve it, preferring it's cute squishy look to the bulkier look that it would take further along down its evolutionary line. Would absolutely spoil it because it looks vaguely axolotl-like, and even more so if it were shiny! He would absolutely go easy on them, but he would use his hydromancy to help train the Mudkip, and the two would be able to spar with their water skills and help each other grow.

♡ Trace would have a Scorbunny! Trace would adore having a companion when he does his jogging, and Scorbunny would be the perfect friend for it! He would absolutely love letting the lil guy sit on his shoulders and see the world from his height. Trace would definitely pick up playing some football to help Scorbunny with their skills, and would love seeing their skills and mastery grow!

♡ Pillow would have a Litten! She's one of the few that would choose a starter based on what it'll evolve into. She and Incineroar would be a very show off-y pair, I could tell you that now! She would feel safe exploring abandoned places with them, and would appreciate the help that her Incineroar would give her a lot. Would definitely play fight with it a lot.

♡ Buttons would have a Chikorita! A plant type among bugs...Buttons would love how squishy the little Chikorita would be, and would absolutely carry it around in their arms everywhere. Chikorita would be safe with them, surrounded by the bounty of the forest and many, many friends.

♡ Miki would have a Totodile! Both of them are very big fans of biting things, so it makes sense that they'd make a good team when it comes to chomping down on folks! They would be a ruthless pair as it evolves further, definitely a danger to look out for...unless you want to end up in their jaws..
