I don’t know if some of you guys are being purposefully dense, or if you’re just trying to be edgy, or if you’re falling for some of the bullshit the US and their funders have been spouting, but I don’t think you guys understand what is happening with the tiktok ban and why you should be worried.
“Whatever. We need an app for the people and by the people. I don’t care about tiktok.”
This ban sets a precedent for allowing them to ban any app they SAY they view as a threat. We all know it isn’t really because of ccp involvement (senator im Singaporean), but because the people on tiktok are speaking out and organizing. AND Zuckerberg, Elon, and bezos are jealous of the platform and want to buy it so they are trying to force a sale. Even if we did manage to create an app “for the people by the people” that reached that level of success, if people started being so pro-Palestine and started organizing and talking the same way they do on tiktok, the second the government got wind of it they could make up some “national security” bs and use this as a precedent for a much faster ban. Remember, they have been working on this for YEARS. And maybe some tech bro would swoop in and say “hey, I’ll buy the platform and clean it up for the government so they don’t have to worry about the threats anymore *wink wink $$* and then there goes that platform too.
“Idk why people think they are getting one over on the government by going to RedNote. Do you all think you’re actually doing something?”
None of us believed going to RedNote would be a long term solution. It is a form of protest on many levels, AND calling out the government on their fear mongering and xenophobia. They keep using the “China will steal your data” excuse and we very vocally said “we don’t care, and here is proof.”
AND
We are making a statement to Zuckerberg that we won’t go back to meta, even without tiktok. He spent MILLIONS lobbying for this ban in order to get rid of the competition one way or another. Either it goes away, or sells. And just like vine, he would probably buy it up and either shut it down after a while to get people back to instagram, or just fuck up the algorithm to suppress the creators that actually make the app special. The writers, artists, POC, queer people, etc. who have found an audience that they never would have found on Instagram or YouTube would be pushed to the background again.
Remember how we always say “money talks”? In a world where these platforms are profiting off of our data, we are taking that “digital currency” that they have been stealing for ages, and actively CHOOSING to give it to their competitors. WHILE withholding it from the people who have been profiting off it. That includes the politicians who have been getting paychecks from meta in order for all of this to happen.
“Tiktok has radicalized so many, and spread misinformation, is too addictive, and helped trump win the election!”
I have not been on a single app or social media network in my LIFE that you could not say that about. INCLUDING TUMBLR! Are we forgetting the fucking Russian bot accounts in the 2016 election? The fucking hairless purple eye condition people actually believed? I have seen rac*sts, and bigots, and “maps” on this app for years. It is on Facebook. It is on Instagram. It is on Reddit. it is on Twitter or X or whatever you wanna call it. The biggest difference with TikTok is that it is loud. It is popular. And it is making a lot of money for a billionaire that is not from America. I have spent the same amount of excessive hours doom scrolling on Tumblr that I have on TikTok. You can do that on any app. and I am going to be real with you all for a second: As someone who has spent a ton of time on both apps, I honestly feel like the content on TikTok feels just like Tumblr except in video format.
I could rant for ages, but honestly at this point, I don’t know how else to tell you guys that you should care about this whether or not you like tiktok. And what TikTok users are doing in response to this ban is actually having an impact whether you want to see it or not. it might not be the thing that makes our politicians go “we are so sorry. you are right. We will fix this.” But it is making our voices and opinions on the matter loud and clear, so that when they do go against what we are telling them we want, they can’t claim ignorance for our reaction. It is forcing them to go out of their way to oppose what the people have been asking for. it is forcing them to out their true intentions to the people who don’t clearly see what they’re doing. Like there are so many layers to this and I am not eloquent enough to explain them all in a way that doesn’t make me sound like a rambling maniac please I am begging you all to take a second and think about this beyond an app.

Hello! I am curios, as I read you are here, on Twitter and also on Discord (I admit I am not register on it). There are a Frobin page also on Instagram? On Instagram there are a lot of Zorobin posts and users (unfortunately frobin is a minority on that app … >_
Hey there,
I hope it’s okay to post this in the open since some people might wonder the same thing. And sorry for the wall of text. This is something I’ve been thinking about quite a lot actually. XDD
There are actually a couple of reasons as why I decided against Instagram.
1. I’m bad with Instagram XD That is my personal taste. I do owe one and I do use it sometimes and I like things of others but I’m not really active. Also I don’t like the fact that pictures need to be square and that it’s part of facebook.
2. I’m not sure what I should post.
And here begins the real problem. And bear with me I hope I can clear this up.
Instagram is a social media platform that lives through pictures. Pictures of food, clothes, cats, travels and art.
If I decided to create a FRobin account and to post stuff there, I’d need to create those pictures. I’d need to edit manga panels and Anime Screenshots or draw FRobin myself and I don’t think people want to see that last option.
I am aware that there are apps that make it possible to *kind of* reblog other peoples art and posts on instagram but I’d feel weird to do that. Instagram does not have this option since it was never its purpose. I don’t want to steal art by mistake.
So, I’d need to ask every artists if it’s okay to repost their art. That is a lot of work. And in the end I fear that I’ll steal spotlight from other people who did such amazing jobs!
https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/frobin/
And this is a very big difference about FRobin and ZoRobin Shipper (beside that one thing will be canon and the other not)  Most FRobin Fans don’t steal repost art for the sake of content. And even if the FRobin hashtag on Instagram is so much smaller (and even shared with Fem!Robin from FEA) the quality is so, so much better. There are so many original fanarts and scrolling a bit down my heart was full of joy.
And the ZoRobin tag? It’s full of pictures that aren’t even about the ship. Stolen fanart, wrongly tagged, boring memes. I won’t ever want to steep so low. ;D
So yeah, the biggest reason I decided against it was a lack of time to create content of a certain quality.
Here on tumblr and on twitter I can just create a small headcanon and post it. That would be harder on Instagram. I can look in the tag and just reblog and retweet stuff and only have to add a few hashtags, and on twitter not even that. (and let’s be honest even for that I don’t sometimes find the time).
That does not mean I wouldn’t mind anyone else doing it. If any of you Instagram savvy people would like to create a FRobin Instagram-Account, you can use all the original edits and text that I had created for this blog or the frobinfandays blog or even my private account if you want to.
https://frobin.tumblr.com/tagged/modpost/
https://frobinfandays.tumblr.com/tagged/modpost
I’m sure there is more on my harddrive. I’ll send you everything, possible Instagram-Frobin-Admin. Just write me a message and remember two rules:
- No reposting without permission!
- No bashing of other ships! Be nice!
And that being said, thank you for your ask and thank you all who read this incoherent mumbling that might be sometimes a bit salty because of the amount of content of other ships. XD

Everyone should have one (a blog)
Hey Micah,
Do you also love the time between 3 and 6am? The early morning when everything feels surreal and which you can only access when you wake up a little too early to get started and a little too late to fully go back to bed. I find this is the best time for me to dream of what life could be. In a time where I often feel I have everything I want, it feels greedy to want more. It was also the time when I would wake up to get a couple extra gaming hours as a kid, especially Digimon World. A couple extra training shifts before my digimon inevitably evolved into a Numemon for reasons too cryptic for an 11-year-old (people are finding out new things about that game to this day).
My new routine is trying to sneak in reading an entry or two of my ex-boyfriend's Tumblr when I wake up at 5:40am. I feel as excited as I was when playing Digimon. The feeling of doing something forbidden that my awake self couldn't, something others wouldn't approve of; the mystery of what will come up "next".
Reading this blog, I have realized 3 main things: 1. I will be stealing and improving on this idea. 2. We should all have a blog. 3. We should be documenting our evolution.
On stealing and improving Stealing gets a bad rap. There's this whole debate of AI stealing the style of unconsenting artists and then using it to create new products that will be sold on their own. My take is tepid and very mid: Artists should not have to fight AI for their livelihood (they should not have to make art to afford to live) and we should improve AI to better track the input, so credit due can be given and so you can explore more of your favorite artist when you come across AI-generated content.
So, since I'm now crediting my latest ex-boyfriend with the Discovery of Tumblr, this is no longer stealing and since I'm addressing a friend in my writing, it's no longer derivative but rather improved. I think his writings died down because he didn't have anyone in mind when he was writing. Even the last one was addressed to a friend long gone, the kind you keep in a snow globe of a city you visited as a kid. However, he did share his blog with me.
I don't know if it was accidental, incidental or an attempt to show me the inner world he couldn't when we were together. I'm betting on the middle one, since he had me as one of his close friends and he wrote the post the day I broke up with him.
Sharing his blog made it come back to life: Someone is reading it. I've read half of it and I'm of a mind to read the whole thing. I've read through most of his Texaversaries, his moving to Austin and have spotted the one line where he acknowledges his relationship of 8 years.
So to make my writing come to life, I'm addressing you, Micah. I always try to address Dodo or Alex, the archetypes of a best friend in my mind. But honestly, I have so many people that deserve the title of "best friend" that I'll just choose one that feels particularly accurate: My writer friend of chance, whom I met on a drunken trip to Prague and who introduced me to Chance the rapper as we were making our way to Cuernavaca on that dark bus ride, 8 years, or so, ago.
We should all have a blog We should all let our inner teenager run wild with theories and musings nobody will ever take seriously, the discoveries that are full of common sense when contrasted to each other's. They are our discoveries and are as personal as a song written using the same chords as thousands before us. It is our blog.
But fuck it, let's rebrand. We should all have an experience--fuck, Airbnb already coined that. We should all have a story? Instagram. We should all have memories? Facebook. What about an Introspection? Or to make it sound fancy, some Selbstbetractung? Ah, nothing like bringing in some European flair to make things sound formal.
[Insert new name for blogs]. Much better. I can't believe we went with the term "blog" for so long. It's perfect early internet slang, but drat, imagine if Shakespeare had a blog!
Meanwhile, the connotation that a blog is a sandbox with toys buried here and there is appealing. A blog should not be a memoir. It should be dirty and rambling and uncomfortably personal. We need more privacy in our lives, enough to let us share the ugly and unkempt.
We should be documenting our evolution Back when I played Digimon World, I would always be annoyed that there was no way to keep track of what you started with. You would get your partner digimon and, unlike other monster collecting games, they would grow, die and be reborn as a completely new thing. But you only ever got one. The same companion to restart the cycle, a spiral that revolves.
I like to think that people are the same. I keep track of a "family tree" of sorts that shows all the different people I've been throughout my life, their influences, goals and passions. My ex, let's call him Lazarus, has clearly changed radically between his teens, 20s and so on. And so have you, Micah. You're still not in your 30s but I can see all your versions as clear as a family portrait: The young one eager to explore the world, learn German and learn about love; the rebellious brother who wanted to start his own company and question his identity, sexuality, even his relationship with his parents; the mature older brother with the ambition to climb the job ladder, with the impressive girlfriend, vision and lifestyle; and now, again, the writer who meditates with friends on a mountain while he dreams of Martian colonies and feuds between dynasties.
I call these versions relays, because they pass the baton of "who you are" at any given moment between them. I will write about it more in depth some day. Maybe I will get to write about the next generation of Micahs.
Looking forward to seeing you and to our South By adventure, Alan

How to Get Insanely Productive with Social Media Updates to Scale Your Referral Traffic
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Life can get crazy… Holidays, trips, family and personal life: There are lots of things that may stand in your way to being consistent with your (and your business) social media presence.
Therefore making some sort of social media editorial calendar to keep yourself accountable is a great idea.
Like with any productivity hacks, the most important thing to keep in mind here: Keep it very simple. I’ve seen editorial calendars that actually take more time to create than to implement – I think this is counter-productive.
Before you start: Make sure your site is optimized for social media shares. Use sharing buttons, tweet quotes and other marketing calls-to-action but avoid going too aggressive. Colorlib has a solid list of social sharing plugins for you to choose from.
Weekly Social Media Editorial Calendar
I keep it simple and thus insanely productive: I know exactly what I do every set day of the week and when. I am not looking at my calendar any more because it’s very easy to memorize.
Here’s a sample social media editorial calendar you can steal:
Pre-Scheduling
I schedule social media updates for a few reasons:
This way I know my (business) social media accounts get regularly updated no matter how busy I am
Sometimes I have so much to share within such a short period of time that posting that all at once would over-whelm my followers. So I have to spread out
This way I won’t forget to update my followers of some important news (See the part about re-sharing the same article a few times on Twitter).
So here’s my social media scheduling calendar:
Weekly task (Sunday): Schedule some important tweets one week ahead.
(Let’s say you are promoting your content, giveaway, digital book, etc. It’s a good idea to schedule tweets mentioning it one week ahead to be sure you won’t forget)
Tools I use for weekly scheduling:
Hootsuite for Facebook and Google Plus scheduling of business page updates*
Manage Flitter: This tool lets you easily schedule one social media update (Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin) for each day of the week to go live at your “best time” (Time when this software deems most efficient in terms of your following activity). Somehow this tool has the best interface and it makes scheduling very productive (something I’d love to say about Hootsuite but I can’t as it takes much more time to schedule updates using Hootsuite). Unlike Hootsuite, Manage Flitter is free and its free version only supports scheduling for once a day and allows to connect only one Facebook page, so I use both.
Weekly tasks (Friday)
Friday is one of the easier, more relaxed days for me. I use it to catch up with my content brainstorming dashboards to get inspired as well as check if I missed any conversations involving brand names and hashtags I am monitoring.
Tool: I use Cyfe for both (collecting content ideas and social media monitoring). I have set up several dashboards there to monitor all sorts of data (hashtags, Twitter chats, etc):
Friday is also my day to catch up with my other social media accounts when I am not as active yet (hey, I only have 24 hours a day!) I am maintaining some activity on Tumblr, Pinterest, Youtube, etc. but I can’t check feeds there daily. So I am usually doing that on Fridays (sometimes on Mondays too).
Fridays are also my days to catch up with social media stats, invoicing, website performance (traffic, Uptime, etc.),
Tip: I am using a separate bookmark folder where I store links to my *other* social media accounts to access them quickly using “Open all in Tabs” option.
Tip: I keep all my social media accounts under one single Gmail account which is separate from my main inbox. This keeps my sanity
Daily tasks (Mornings)
Morning is my time to read all the emails and go through my favorite communities and blogs. Both tasks give me LOTS of things to tweet (mostly) and sometimes share on Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Posting that all at once would be over-whelming and non-effective (most of the updates would be lost in the clutter), so I am “buffering” everything I have to say throughout the current day.
Tools:
Buffer App is (obviously) what I use to buffer my morning reading list to Twitter (Especially through their browser integration (I am using their FireFox plugin that lets me buffer my tweets right from the “Tweet this” pop-up)
Viral Content Buzz lets me keep my Twitter active as well (and it’s my major content discovery platform too). Plus it keeps my other social media accounts (Pinterest and StumbleUpon) active as well.
As-it-happens tasks
There’s no way around it. That’s how social media works: There will always be tasks you’d better do immediately and better keep them in mind.
Interacting on social media is something you can’t really plan put or schedule. Without instant spontaneous replies, retweets, comments and likes your social media accounts will lack the most important component: Authenticity.
Tools:
I use Tweetdeck to be on top of Twitter interactions (here’s my detailed article on that) without feeling overwhelmed. Tweetdeck keeps me very productive.
For other social media platforms, I use their native iPhone apps to keep up using “push notifications” (especially during lunch and coffee breaks).
Here are a few useful social media marketing resources to bookmark and go through
Social Media Posting: Advanced Tips
Now that we hopefully got a bit more organized and productive, let’s not forget about being creative! Keep these quick tips in mind to make your social media activity both varied and efficient:
Re-share the same content a few times on Twitter
Tweets have an extremely short lifetime. They are seen for just a few minutes and after that they will mostly be lost. Therefore re-sharing your (important) content on Twitter using different forms and at different time of the day makes so much sense.
Here’s a quick list of all different ways you can re-share your contest on twitter multiple times (including retweeting someone who shared it, making some use of visual tweets, tweeting quotes, etc)
Re-share your content as a photo on Google Plus and Facebook
Here’s one social media sharing trick: You can share anything as a photo (using “Upload photo” option versus letting Facebook / Google Plus generate the image thumbnail). Image updates get much more visibility in social media streams (Both social media platforms are believed to be giving photos higher rankings in the feeds). Plus these kinds of updates add variety to your feeds.
Hootsuite supports photo updates (but I don’t really like the output). Oktopost handles image sharing campaigns much better.
For more variety in your social media streams, try content re-packaging tactic I explained earlier. Content re-packaging is a great way to share the same content again and again while providing new content to your followers each time. Here’s a good overview of all types of content you can create using one article:
Tag people in social media updates
Here’s a detailed guide on how to tag social media users.
In all cases, the person you are getting will most likely be notified by an email (depending on his/her personal settings). These notifications work well for driving more attention to your social media updates.
Never tag irrelevant people though. I only tag people who I mentioned in the article I am sharing (or who I am quoting).
Social media productivity is no longer an option: You have to find ways to get productive if you want to be on top of many things.
Have you developed any social media productivity tricks of your own? Please share them in the comments!

polyvore was being a pain in the ass no matter how many words i tried to censor so here’s the life update i meant to put in that set
- have been living in a somewhat stable housing environment for almost a year and four-ish months now which is WILD and a huge record break for me.
- kind of have a partner? we're def QPPs and have been nomadic vagabond companions since like 2015 and have been sleeping in the same bed, cuddling, making life plans together hardcore since then. when i try to explain our relationship to others i explain that we are like Bert and Ernie from sesame street. it's not romantic but it's definitely a very serious thing and there is nothing i could forsee that would face our future that would not be faced together as companions. i was kind of chatting with a buddy the other day who was asking abt stuff and i was mentioning how an aphobe asked, 'how is this different from a best friendship, why do you need to call it a queerplatonic relationship?' and my instinct was to be all, 'well idk i mean i think most best friends don't stick their tongues in each others mouths' but like that said, some best friends do that and its totally legit but the main difference is we call it this because it is more accurate to the intricacies of our relationship.
a best friendship implies different things and a QPR is what we have been calling ourselves for some time.
- have come across the term alterous attraction many many moons ago and have concluded that more or less, this has been the basis for all the experiences of 'attraction' i have thought i felt in other categories. turns out i just love being pro/miscuous and cuddly and affectionate with people and it doesn't necessarily have to have any of the other attractions present. it's just an expression of my alterous attraction. and idk it just seems to make way more sense. someone said it was a commonplace for pre-questioning lesbians to make up to themselves crushes on boys with calculations involved about why this person is attractive.
i think maybe i do experience other forms of attraction but they're seldom enough that it's more anecdotal. and i'm going to call them crushes anyway bc it doesn't matter what i say or do - people are going to be confused by me and who i am and i shouldn't have to sacrifice the nuances involved in who i am and how i live my life to try and get smaller minds to understand it.
and nobody has to understand either. i don't even understand. that's heckin ok bro
- i've been on them 'ro/ids (testosterone) on and off for three months in spring/summer 2016 (androderm) and then the injections for some amount of time this year and there's been a lot of body changes. but mainly i'm looking at nu/des of other people on hormones and realizing like... what if I'm actually inters/ex? it makes no sense for my di/ck to be bigger than people a year on hormones in half the time, does it? like what's up there? and my body is signif hairier in a way that is noticeable to me and my QPP.
last week when I got the inje/ctio/n the nurse (who is a really nice lady? like smiley very friendly maternal type) asked me "how did you know?" without other context or anything.
I didn't really know how to begin because honestly no one had ever asked me that before and it's the one question I needed somebody else to answer back when I was like, 15/recently 16 and needed help finding myself. I wished future me could visit past me and tell me like, "hey jsyk this is what you concluded, here's the answers, and here's all the stuff I've realized about our past experiences that were actually Signs that you're #genderqueer"
and I think, another thing, I wish I could have told the past me, that the laws were going to rapidly change in my lifetime, and also to avoid any cis person who suggests therapy "for hormone starts" because that's what led me to like, 2 years of rather unhelpful talk therapy that turned into lowkey conversion therapy.
No one should ever make you write a sob story about your past before they allow you the autonomy to make decisions about your body.
I gave a little backstory of timeline and told her how my mom kept saying things like, "why are you so offended at the idea of being a woman?" etc and how we don't speak anymore, how I came out in 2011 and every day for the longest time I had to explain to other trans people who the heck I was. how my nonbinaryness was seen more as a delusion despite the fact that I found the wikipedia pages and message boards and I knew there were other people like me out there. I didn't know of another #nonbinary person until 2013 and even then I only met them in passing at a panel they hosted. (we ended up roommates for a bit around 2016 but that's another story)
I stopped having to give #genderqueer 101s to the LGBT+ community around 2014.
And I feel like after that Laverne Cox paved a lot of way for us, and Facebook started putting other genders on there (which I'd signed petitions for years before and considered to be a hoop dream)
and there's been corrective r/a/pe I've gone through and so many tears I've cried and sui/cide attempted and hospital visits
and things are definitely still horrific and I can never afford groceries. I don't eat enough to sustain myself and live on welfare and am too medicated and disabled to work and have tachycardia and PTSD and other complications of my own forced resilience
but I'm on testosterone or whatever and I look at the changes that have gone on and I know that I was a part of that
but I'm never going to get credit for it and it pains me how much I'm suffering because I started advocating earlier than the majority of trans people out today.
if I had come out to my mom years later, would we be speaking?
it doesn't ultimately matter, because if we kept speaking I still would have ended up d/ead. coming out and having her react like that, topped with her steal/ing from me when I was homeless, years of sui/cide baiting, physical + emotional + etc a/buse my whole life, it's miraculous I ever made it out alive
it's so painful but I just have never had the privilege of choice.
- I've been thinking to go back to school maybe and that I need to actually go at it full force with passion because I think I have gotten way too down on myself for the results that have come from my own halfa/ssery of it all. And my own procrastination etc.
I wish I had access to medical care as a child or counselling or something more than I ever did have because maybe I would have excelled in school instead of suffered to try and keep my head above water. I mean, I graduated honours (equivalent).
there's too much about my life to be angsty about.
- also idk if i mentioned this but i got ar/rested for protecting indigenous folks at a thing and it was in the news and im not going to talk much more on it bc of privacy but i'm happy to dig up the video of the pol/ice dragging me away and the crowd shouting (and gendering me right ;u;) "LET THEM GO, LET THEM GO" and i was a pathetic mess thru the whole thing and just had the wrong emotions the whole time and like 3+ reporters tried to get a hold of me for interview but I forwarded them to the indigenous leaders of the ceremony instead
we prayed inside the arre/st tent and put down tobacc/o and held ceremony and the c/ops were horrible and took so much personal offence to everything we were and every reality that happened that they wanted to deny. they banned us from the public land we were arrested on and it was horrible.
it was in the news and justin tr*deau showed up for a photo op and the organizers weren't allowed in their own tipi. he wasn't invited.
those with the land claim to the area made an official statement welcoming us and condemning the go/vernme/nt for arrestin/g us.
nothing was ever done about that bit other than them releasing us and i went to the hospital the next day to get my wrist checked because i couldn't really use it and the handcuf/f bruises and the bruise on my knee was massive. it's been two months and it's only now faded.
twitter blocked the image of us in the a/rrest tent holding hands in prayer with the hand/cuffs on our wrists. they said it contained "sensitive content"
tumblr did the same, calling it "NSFW" (weird bc literally photographs of my actual na/ked body with links to where u can buy videos of me jerkin is not labelled NS/FW automatically lol?????)
i asked tumblr to review that and they still labelled it as such.
it's just so blatantly a genuine broach of free speech and freedom of religion. it was a crimi/nalized religious ceremony and i got between the co/ps and a woman praying.
- i saw Against Me! in march and the mosh pit was extreme and I fell down at some point and like seven people pulled me up and that and the getting arre/sted thing has really hecked up my knees ! i feel like they're mostly healed since but i've not even been kneeling on my mattress for even a second to make sure of this. otherwise it's just been sudden pain for months but as i said, i think they're a lot better now.
- i came forward abt a pr/edatory ex and a few others of their victims came to me to say that they had gone through the same and that they were even more pre/datory than had been with me. i lost quite a lot of friends in the matter bc what i accused them of was extremely serious and came across as vicious on my part.
i'm going to take it as alright though, because i know that i've put what i said out there, and if they have read it at all, they can at least have these ideas in their mind going forward and take precautions. this ex was confronted publically and directly on social media about it and there were several witnesses and screenshots i had to things they did and said. i'm hoping that serves as some kind of warning for them, about their actions that they have confessed to with several people, and how these things will come back for them. that they cannot evade accountability, that i am a force of nature and if you wrong me or do a wrong in my witness with no remorse on your part or apology, i'm not going to let you live it down.
i care and i am tired of hearing horrible stories about them from others. others who came to me saying that i had been painted as an abus/er. because i know ! people see me standing up for myself as threatening all the time. they worry they aren't allowed to make mistakes around me.
no matter how many times i say it or prove it, there's always those people who are too cowardly to admit when they do make mistakes and who go to great lengths to protect their pride and entitlement.
i know we are all growing. i seek environments of mutual support and growth. i am now in a phase of life where i am not giving the time to people who have no interest in these environments. anyone can be my friend, if they are ready for it. but i don't owe it to anybody and anything wrong i have done i am at a point where i feel like i am in touch with my own humility.
and if someone tries to milk it because they think my vulnerability isn't also strength and something that comes with at least some ferocity... well, that's not my problem.
- my rabbit Snicklefritz is doing fine. he's shedding like the dickens this season and mischievous as usual but hopefully one day I can afford to make him an enclosure again and I can let him out only when I can keep track of him.
he's ruined a lot of sketchbooks and a lapdesk my QPP got me for the winter holidays that we are both heartbroken about.
- I am trying to become less attached to material belongings and it has helped me a lot when it comes to coping with all the sentimental items left with my mother or in the various times I've been homeless or left exes etc over the years.
My memories are in my heart and not something that needs to be placed externally, in an item.
Have also trying to go zero waste (like, becoming someone who produces no garbage, just recycling and compost) and it's really been noticeable all these small differences. I buy way more bananas, lettuce, etc. And I've been making bread and spaghetti and whatnot and having windowsill gardens.
- I'm not cured of anything or whatever and I'm angsty 24/7 and broke as heckaroo but there's enough of The Little Things In Life (gardening, youtube videos, kisses, etc) to help me get by in the meantime.
- three days ago a friend (who I consider(ed) chosen family) I had purposefully cut out of my life a year ago showed up on my doorstep to tell me I was right about everything and to apologize for all the wrongs. That they reread conversations we had around then and that they have grown and grown into a better place. They were 18 then and 19 now. We were from the same hometown and they're still there but moving to my city in December. I missed them so much and they stayed with me a few days. I feel a bigger sense of home in this city knowing they're going to live here soon too.
- I've been Really Intensely looking thru my DNA and geneology stuff since last winter. For some reason Indian (like, South Asia) shows up in my DNA and some southern Europe/Northern Africa/Middle East kind of region. My father was adopted via a stepdad and I figure this comes from his bio dad. Or maybe it doesn't, I don't really know. My maternal haplotype is supposed to be one that's generally found in African populations which throws that whole theory. My mom and me also had to use hair picks (afro picks) when I was growing up because our hair was so naturally thick and the waves really tangled up. Every time we went to get my hair cut in that white rural town the hairdressers would comment how they'd never seen such thick hair before etc. I'm still struggling greatly to find answers because everybody's last name is phoenetically weird except for my dad's mom's line which has an extremely Cornwall last name and anyone with that name is definitely part of that family.
Doing research to find what I was told growing up (that I was Kanien'keha:ka via my maternal grandmother's grandmother) has been very difficult because I'm not sure which grandmother of hers it was, and one of them seemed to remarry several times and I cannot be sure of any of the surnames being a maiden name. It's also really hard to know what the spelling was supposed to be because it was written phoenetically. But I think that one's likely English anyway. The other one I haven't reached yet but my grandmother's father's father seemed to be from a Metis community outside a reserve where I remember being told we had ancestors. It seems we're descendants of some really famous anglo Metis folk. I've not figured out the specific links to lock the names all into place properly in my family tree but it's the surname and the small community that are an exact match and on the message boards.
It's a lot to think about. I've been struggling with my racial identity for a long time and regardless of nuances and ethnic identity I feel like I'm just doing this research to seem special or more interesting or to branch out my activism. DNA is not ever going to tell me who my ancestors were, just the locations a small handful of random specific ancestors lived. Family trees are going to help, but they're not going to help me too much as someone who doesn't actually have blood family I'm in contact with really.
I might see if I can get in touch with an older cousin I have on Pinterest because she seemed to be the only one (besides my younger cousin) who really ever sent me vaguely kind gestures after I came out. She was the only one who seemed to be supportive when I did my grandma's eulogy. (Aside from my sibling who went up with me. But I don't speak to my sibling for other reasons.)
I have a paternal cousin as well but we're more half-cousins as my dad's mom had a few different men in her life and I don't actually know if he does have full bio-siblings. I don't really know if it's worth it to reach out to her because with all the technicalities and separations and adoptions and half-relatives I don't know whether I can ask her to ask around, or if I can just ask her, or what.
Anyway whatever it's just easiest to explain my ethnicity as being Metis because talking with others and stuff it seems like maybe this is the best way to label myself, to explain my complicated history and acknowledge that my blood ties are not what makes me me, but rather my ethnic ties. I have traditions and beliefs and ancestors I'm reconnecting with and trying to find.
Not all my ancestors were great people. But it is interesting as heck to learn about them. (Especially seeing pictures and some of the weirder resemblances from like, 5th great grandparents.)
Also one of my greats of grandparents crossed the US-Canada border several times in his life and near the end of them the border agent wrote "seems odd" on the thing and I haven't found any explanation for why he was crossing the border either lol which is pretty dang interesting imo.
- anyway idk I think I'm good ?? have been getting a lot of new interests and hobbies lately which feels good, feels right
i'm getting muscles because of them hormones and probably eating healthier or whatever and drinking more water and just livin life as best i can
could use some more dollars however but what can u do when welfare doesn't go up to match minimum costs of living haha :)

Hey everyone at /r/Entrepreneur,I was inspired by a recent (if somewhat controversial) post about social media marketing to address some common questions and misconceptions regarding how to effectively employ social media marketing to help your business. These tips aren’t meant to be comprehensive or a one-stop-guide but more so as an intro into a longer conversation. For more specific advice, feel free to drop questions in the comments (links to your SNS/business pages are helpful!) and I’ll do my best to respond to everyone. About Me:I’m an expert in content marketing and social media marketing with over 4 years experience in the field. The bulk of my experience is from the gaming industry where I successfully managed and grew the Angel Stone and Hello Hero Facebook pages to the tune of 350,000 and 4.5 million followers respectively. Along the way I learned a lot, particularly regarding event & campaign management, as well as in how to effectively curate and create a wide variety of content marketed to a global audience. I’m currently working on a business called MKT Growth, at www.mktgrowth.com (which is still under construction). Hopefully this thread can generate continued conversations in the future, giving you a chance to see the site’s growth. Without further ado, let’s get started! 1) Who is your daddy, and what does he do? Replace ‘daddy’ with ‘customer’ and you not only have the plot to the 50 Shades of Grey sequel, but you also have the quintessential question everyone MUST ask themselves when getting started. The same people who are posting club selfies on Instagram at 2am on a Saturday night are not the same people browsing Pinterest while they order brunch at 11:30am. Identify your target demographic then identify how/why they use social media and for what. The backbone to this point is after you consider Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Youtube, Reddit, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+, and more then you start to realize you can spread yourself very thin, very quickly. Consider each social media platform like a distribution channel, if you don’t have the resources to manage all channels properly then it’s best to begin by focusing on core channels prior to expanding. 2) I don’t know how to put this, but, I’m kind of a big deal. Having an impressive number of ‘Followers’ or ‘Likes’ is fantastic for building influence in a digital space, but ultimately serve only securing bragging rights if you don’t have a goal, and more importantly a workflow in mind on how to monetize your community’s constituents. The sooner you have well reasoned marketing funnels/conversion strategy in play the better. If that sounds like some confusing marketing mumbojumbo, all that means is you need to have a plan for how you’ll turn your community members from fans to customers. 3. "How do I look?” “Much better, like a young Michael Jackson It’s 2017 people. Aesthetics are important. We’ve got instagram models taking butt selfies in yoga pants, culinary masterpieces that look too good to eat, and stunning snapshots of the Pacific Coast which look like something out of a badass Bob Ross painting. Where does your content fit in?  Once you’ve figured out where to invest your time, your next step is how to invest your time. Identify and analyze each social media platform you plan to use and look at what type of content works well. I would never suggest you copy someone else’s content/content plan, but(!) you can (and should) take a look at the competition and adjust your strategy accordingly either to try and either steal market share or acquire a previously untapped market.  If you’re unable to create good looking content, I highly recommend familiarizing yourself with graphic design software (I prefer Adobe Photoshop, but Gimp is a free alternative I’ve heard great things about. A little time, some tutorials, and a bit of elbow grease can go a long way. At this point I’d also like to point out I’ve found www.unsplash.com a great resource in free stock images. If graphic design is completely out of your wheelhouse, don’t be afraid to hire a graphic designer like that can help polish your content (plug to /r/forhire if you’re looking, or feel free to PM me for design work). You never get a second chance at a first impression, so make sure you put your best foot forward first! 4. She gave me a bunch of crap about me not listening to her, or something. I don’t know, I wasn’t really paying attention Take hints from feedback. By looking at analytics you’ll learn what type of content works best with your audience, try to isolate variables when testing out different approaches for more conclusive results. Don’t forget the human component, it’s very important to look at what your customer’s are commenting and be sure to respond to them within a reasonable amount of time. I hope this guide proves helpful in fueling your thinking process towards social media marketing. If you want to see more of this kind of guide, or related content feel free to drop a comment! I'll probably stay active in this thread as long as there's interest, so questions are welcome. If you would like a quote for social media marketing help, feel free to PM me or contact me here.Cheers!
