I still think the craziest thing about hey Melissa is that they had that story for a WHILE. It was planned to be a short film in the original hatchetfield plan before Covid hit. Imagine that good lord 😭😭😭

🅱️ugie 🅱️nderson OR Augie Doggie 😎
🅱️ugie 🅱️nderson and Augie Doggie it is :> 🅱️ugie 🅱️nderson
Tumblr media
Sexuality Headcanon: Bi disaster. We all agree to this
Gender Headcanon: Outwardly he would be cis, but for some reason, the back of my mind is lowkey refusing
A ship I have with said character: Skaugie or I sometimes dub Brawnsmarts
A BROTP I have with said character: Literally him with the crew, including Mudsy bc he's his dad Mr hanna and Mr barbera told me.
A NOTP I have with said character: Think of that one fic saga where he was shipped with April. I did not like that one bit.
A random headcanon: Augie being an artist is an absolute big brain move. He's the kind of guy that would be sketching sceneries when there is a moment to rest. Also in his sketchbook (which is forbidden to be looked into) has sketches where he often draw his friends, trying to get every detail perfect. (Sorta Unrelated note: He and Tuan (my oc) respect each other's works because of the effort put into it despite the medium differences). And Im just thinking, what if I give him an inferiority complex where one of his worst fears is his friends finding out that he needs them more than they need him. General Opinion over said character: This guy is so goofy it's unreal like look at him. I literally can't stand him being the Fred-Type bc I know he's not like him. Why compare a jock to a theatre kid?
Tumblr media
Augie Doggie (I'll go with my version I held for at least 5 years)
Tumblr media
Sexuality Headcanon: I see him in the asexual umbrella, even as a pre-teen, he's not really into romance that much.
Gender Headcanon: I see him as trans. It just makes sense to me
A ship I have with said character: Peggy Poodle in the future of the au (it's hard to tell from others if they're dating at first because they don't do the mushy romantic stuff"
A BROTP I have with said character: Got a small list includes my oc Nick Vile as a brother figure, Bernice (Spruce Goose), Niall Scroolews (my oc)
A NOTP I have with said character: I don't see too many ships regarding to the character in general so I didn't apply to it
A random headcanon(s): Had seen the embodiment of Death at his grandma's funeral. Im not kidding when I said that he can make friends with anyone. General Opinion over said character: I care too much about him, and I'll keep doing that.

‘Walker’: Jared Padalecki on ‘Hot & Heavy’ Cordell and Geri, What’s Next With The Jackal
Finally! You’re back. It’s been forever! And we’re still looking for The Jackal?
Jared Padalecki: Yeah. We had a little five-month time lapse just to allow for all the strike stuff, but it’s still the same storyline. We pick up in the same storyline, for sure, with some time passed. Obviously, Cordell and Geri [Odette Annable] are a little more, um, advanced, than they were. [Laughs] Stella’s [Violet Brinson] back to college, and Augie’s [Kale Culley] back to nearing the end of high school. But The Jackal has reared its ugly head once again, and we got to go figure out what’s going on.
And you’ve been going without Cassie for five months, so it’s you and Trey, which is a pretty cool partnership.
Super cool. Yeah, Cassie was on our FBI task force, and she comes back to let us know what she’s been up to and to kind of say, “Hey, there’s something we might need your help on.” We all love her and miss her and are wondering where she stands. Is she going to stay or go? But Trey and James and Walker have been running amuck in her absence. [Laughs]
And how is her return going to change things? She comes back a little different, too.
She does. She’s had a little different experience and has had a taste of what might be available to her. And she has a different set of expectations. Obviously, she’s welcomed back with open arms from our other characters, but it’s sort of like, “Okay, well, we don’t know where she stands.” We want to be respectful of what she wants and what she needs to do, and we all secretly hope that she’s going to stick around.
And we’ve got a full-blown relationship going on with Geri and Cordi. They’re living together. How’s that going?
Yeah, I think it’s going well. They seem to be hot and heavy, and I’m glad that nothing happened in the five months between the wedding and Episode 401 to kind of sideline that. But that’s not to say that something won’t sideline that within Season 4. [Laughs]
Of course! Because he’s taking on this case, dealing with a serial killer, and I’ve watched enough TV and movies to know that when the good guys take on a serial killer, serial killers tend to target the people their pursuers love most.
You’re too good at this, Damian. [Laughs]
So this is putting a target on a lot of people?
Oh, yeah.
And how will Geri factor into this? Because you can’t just have her hanging out at the house. What is she going to get to do?
Well, good point. She has some stuff of her own going on this season that she needs to care of. And let’s just say that Walker has never been the best about admitting what is going on in his head. Probably something that the astute writers have noticed about [me] and just weaved into Cordell. [Laughs] But we certainly see Geri as sort of a grounding force and guiding light who is trying to figure out things like, “Well, these characters seem to be different, and this person isn’t really responding the way I expected or when I expected.” So we kind of see her as the lighthouse that’s saying, “Hey, you seem to have stuff going on.” Meanwhile, she’s also juggling kind of new responsibilities with Augie and Stella. Stella’s an adult and Augie’s almost an adult, so she’s not overbearing by any means, and she’ll always be “Aunt Geri” to some degree, but she’s taken on a lot and is doing it very well.
We see Stella relying on Liam (Keegan Allen) during all the trauma that she’s dealing with following the home invasion. Will Geri help out with that? Because I feel like Stella definitely at this point needs a mom.
Yes, she does. And Stella has a great arc this season. Let’s just say that many times this season, people accuse Stella of being just like her father. [Laughs] Oh, yeah. Stella is great at keeping secrets as well and keeping struggles to herself. So just like Walker has a tough time reaching out for help, we think Stella may have unfortunately learned that from her dad.
And how is Walker going to handle the fact that his daughter has been counting on Liam with all this stuff that’s been going on and he hasn’t been brought into the loop?
I think he understands more. Unlike prior seasons, I think Walker understands that his daughter’s now an adult, even though he doesn’t like it. It’s new for him. He spent 18 years with his daughter as his child, and now he’s kind of a year or two in to his daughter being an adult and able to make her own decisions. She needs to be responsible, and so I think Walker gives Stella a little leeway, hoping that she’ll remain the kind of stalwart that she’s always been. And then I think he realizes that maybe even though she’s surrounded by friends and family who are there for whatever she needs, that maybe she has a little bit too much Cordell Walker inside of her.
And Augie going into the military? This is a big step for a young man, and as much as a father would want his son to follow in those footsteps, it’s also like, this is a very dangerous line that he wants to get involved with.
For sure. Augie is coming into his own and has some ideas. He’s always been the kid who wanted to grow up a little bit too fast. And frankly, with the passing of his mom and his father being a Texas ranger who’s been abducted and had the house broken into and kind of always been in danger, I think he grew up long before the prospect of turning 18. But he wants to prove that he is an adult in his own right and that he has these ideas about how to secure his future. So Walker is trying to walk that line between, “I know you’ve been through a lot, you’ve been through more than most 70 year olds have been through,” and “Let’s tap the brakes, buddy.” And this is not disrespectful. This is my job as a dad, but I think also Walker finds that, because his profession is in law enforcement, sometimes he can come across a bit more harsh than he intends to.
Understandable, since it’s his kid! I will say, at the beginning of the season, this is probably the happiest we’ve seen Cordi. He’s eating a massive amount of steak. He’s in love again. He has put the ghost of his late wife to rest. The kids are growing up, he’s kind of reclaiming his own life again. Can he have this all, can he be happy?
Oh, Damian, you know TV better than that! Hell no. [Laughs]
He can have a lot sometimes and some a lot of times, but one of the things that [showrunner] Anna Fricke and I talked about from the get-go was trying to make sure that this version of Walker was more similar to life than just a TV version of a [person]. We never sought out to go like, “Well, it’s the end of episode, I roundhouse kicked somebody and now everything’s okay. Let’s all high-five!” This is more like, “Well, what did I miss while trying to get the bad guy? Oh, I missed my daughter’s graduation. Oh, I missed her birthday. I missed this. Oh, I didn’t call back my live-in partner that I was supposed to.”
And so there’s no pure win and there is no pure loss. So I think with Walker, though happy now, his life happens in seasons and not like TV seasons. Walker’s had some hard times and now is an easy time, but life is difficult, and Walker finds that out.
Still, it’s nice to see him getting to enjoy being the hero he is more than usual. Especially with Captain James. This season, the drama is his and Cordi gets to be there for him and support him.
Yeah. That is very true, and it’s great. Yeah, I agree all around. I think Walker is going to find out who he is in good times, which he hasn’t had a whole lot of chance to explore yet. And as with anything, if you haven’t had a lot of experience, you might not be as good at it as you would’ve hoped. We’ve all seen that Walker can be great in times of struggle. He’s had some reps in the gym as far as that arena goes. But let’s see who he is when there’s no bad guy to chase right now — especially when that bad guy might be strengthening themselves in preparation for when the Rangers come after them.
Before you go, was there anything that you’ve gotten to do this season that you just are so excited for people to see?
Big time. We’ve had a lot of fun, fun stuff. There’s something, unfortunately it’s the finale, so I can’t talk about it—I’ll call you privately [Laughs]—but I will say, in the first episode, we have a really fun sequence. We got to do a car-chase sequence in the back of a big rig.
And funny behind-the-scenes fact that no one knows about: During the Longhorns playoff game on New Year’s Day, I was walking around barefoot, my brother and his kids were over, and they were all playing and stupidly, I grabbed a piece of pizza and tried to run back to the couch to watch the game and I kicked my coffee table on accident! So I had a broken toe for the first three episodes and before shooting that sequence and for a couple episodes after, I would have to ice my foot, throw a sock on real fast, shove it into my cowboy boot, and run around park garages and throw myself around. Yeah, so that was fun. [Laughs] We laughed about it afterwards, but it was just hard to get the boot on and off.
They couldn’t shoot around the boot?!
I didn’t want to complain. We’d all been out of work for nine months because of the strike and everything. So I was like, I got it. I’m not going to complain about this. The show finally can go on, and I’m going to go like “Ouch, my toe hurts”? No, thank you! [Laughs]

Okay, so after seeing Asteroid City a bunch of times, I thought I should probably write down my thoughts, so here they are
(warning this is kind of long)
Thoughts On Asteroid City:
“4th wall break”, or When The Characters Become the actors:
Woodrow constantly looks at the “audience” (the camera) during the film, this is because the understudy is playing Woodrow and is not used to the audience
“I still don’t say I forgive you”: at first I thought this was Midge saying this to Augie, but upon watching it again, it actually seems to be the actor Mercedes saying it to the director Schubert, who had written her an apology letter.
“Hey, do you feel any different?”: this is a stretch, but the day after the alien takes the asteroid, Midge asks Augie if he feels any different. He answers that he doesn’t, and asks if that’s odd, and Midge says that she also doesn’t feel any different. Now, taking into account Augie’s actor Jones’ (probably) very fresh grief and shock over the death of his lover Conrad (the playwright), coupled with the fact that he doesn’t answer with his line immediately (probably because he’s dissociating), this makes me think that Midge’s actor, Mercedes, is actually asking if he feels any different now that Conrad is gone, and Jones is in too much shock to actively feel anything
The Quickie Gridle: In the scene where Augie burns his hand on the Quickie Gridle (something that Jones had asked Conrad about at the beginning of the film, “Why does Augie burn his hand on the Quickie Gridle?”), it looks as if Mercedes is in actual shock when his hand hits the griddle. She asks him why he did it, and his answer is, “it’s unclear” because Conrad never told him why.
(there is probably a great deal more that I don’t remember, I might add more
Augie/Jones:
I was put onto this by @mummer, and after going to see the movie again with the idea that the movie is partially about Jones trying to process his grief, a lot of scenes were put into a different light and honestly I enjoyed it even more.
Obviously, we have the scene where he goes on his backstage rant (which I did not realize he did while they were doing an active performance and not just a rehearsal). It seems to be him searching for the meaning in Conrad’s passing (and also the meaning of life in general) in his play, but being ultimately told by Schubert that it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t understand the meaning, because he just has to keep going
“I feel like my heart is breaking, my own personal heart.” “Good.”: this comes across to me as Jones finally being able to get past his shock and actually feel something about Conrad’s passing through the lens of playing Augie and Schubert telling him that the pain is good and healthy
“Am I doing him right?”... “I think you’re doing him right.”: again, this could be a stretch, and it makes sense to interpret it literally, however… Jones is, again, actively grieving for a partner that could not be grieved in public. This could be his way of subtly asking if he’s doing it right, if he’s doing the play the way Conrad would have wanted, if he would have been happy with him and his performance, and Schubert’s answer of “I think you’re doing him right” could very well be an attempt to comfort him and saying that he is doing right by Conrad, that he would be proud of him.
“Use your grief.” Again, this could just be how the play was written, but if that isn’t some great advice for Jones I don’t know what is.
“I think you might have to try to replace me.”: The scene with the actress that played Augie’s wife and her quoting the dialogue to Jones, essentially speaking what has been going through his head since Conrad died.
Also I think it was extremely intentional that we get the news that Conrad died directly after the above scene.
Again, there are probably more that I forgot or have already been said somewhere else.
Misc.
(these are more just little things)
The way the cowboy Montana’s actor is not present in the beginning line up and is instead represented through a painting over the teacher June’s actor’s head
The little roadrunner puppet!! Which you can see being played with when Jones goes backstage
The little scene where the narrator just appears and then is like, “Am I… not in this one?” And then leaves and the actors go back a line of dialogue
The way we only see some of June and Montana’s relationship and only know they got together because the mechanic’s actor came out and told Jones
The picture of Augie’s wife being exactly how he described her in the little monologue
Augie’s laugh after he told the girls they weren’t orphans
“That business with the pipe and the camera and the eyebrow.” – Schubert to Jones
The scene with Schubert and his wife, I loved the way that even though Schubert is obviously torn apart by this, he still understands that his wife doesn’t love him the same anymore and lets her go
The memory game that the brainiacs play
Woodrow and his Grandfather have the exact same hairstyle
“I play him as a metaphor.” “For what?” “Well I don’t know, we never pinned it down.” – Jones and the actor for the alien.
The colors!!!
Basically all the times the brainiacs interacted
Where does Ricky's father sleep??? Where does Ricky sleep?? Cause they were not sleeping in the tent.
Montana's perfect, stereotypical cowboy speak
And so much more I might have to update this if I remember

(NOT SO) SECRET ADMIRER - Chapter 3 - A Polin Fic
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS: Colin decides to secretly woo Penelope over the course of a week leading up to Valentine's Day with the aid of his siblings.
Modern AU and pure fluff!
RATING: General
PAIRING: Colin Bridgerton/Penelope Featherington
Read from beginning on AO3 or here: Prologue,
Chapter 3 – N is for Notebooks
February 9th
Colin ran his fingers through his hair a couple of times to give his curls a slightly messy look then adjusted his shirt collar as he checked himself in the mirror.
Head tilted to the side, he opted for undoing one more shirt button, exposing more of his chest and gave a little nod. That would do.
He jogged down the stairs then grabbed his keys and jacket on the way through his house and headed out to his car. He was off to his mum’s place for Sunday lunch and Penelope was going to be there.
She’d had an open invite to go to his mother’s place for years. Ever since she’d known them really. Usually, she’d only go when Eloise was there, but this time his sister was away with Phillip for the weekend, so he’d been pleased when she’d agreed to come along anyway.
He had hoped it was because she wanted to see him, but she’d burst that bubble pretty quickly by telling him that she would be going to visit her own mother first. She lived near to Violet and Penelope had explained that it gave her an excuse to leave.
Colin sighed. He wouldn’t wish that on his worst enemy. Portia Featherington was…something.
He’d offered to go with her, but she’d declined. She didn’t want to force her mother onto anyone else either, it seemed.
He pulled up at his mother’s house and parked on the drive then went in. Violet greeted him with a warm hug and a gentle scolding about not hearing from him much in the last week. He promised he’d do better then went into the living room to see who else had arrived. Benedict was already there and so was Francesca with her girlfriend, Michaela and Daphne with her husband, Simon. The latter was entertaining their children with the help of Benedict and so he took the chance to have a quiet word with his sister.
Daphne was watching her husband and brother with an indulgent smile when he sat down next to her on the couch and it widened to a proper grin when she turned to look at him.
“Benedict tells me that things are going well with Penelope,” she said happily.
“Hmmm,” he hummed in a dubious tone. “Did he also tell you that he nearly gave everything away yesterday?”
“Hey!” came his brother’s indignant voice from where he sat on the floor playing with some toy cars. “I will always sign my own artwork and I thought my cover story was very good, thank you very much. It was plausible and deflective all at the same time.”
“You could’ve told me about it first though,” Colin grumbled. “And the balloons.”
“Oh, dear God, not the balloons again,” Benedict declared wearily as he rolled his eyes.
Daphne looked between her two brothers and laughed. Clearly there was more to that story but she decided that with Penelope’s impending arrival, it was likely not the place to discuss it further.
“Well, you don’t have to worry about my part in all this, Colin,” she soothed when he looked as though he was about to say something more to their brother. “I have already left today’s gift at Penelope’s house for when she returns.”
Colin shot one last glare at Benedict then turned to his sister and gave her a stiff smile.
“Thank you, Daphne. It’s good to know that I can rely on you to do exactly as I asked.” He heard his brother mutter something under his breath and shot him a challenging look. “What did you say?”
“Oh, nothing brother,” Benedict denied, only to be outed by a four year old.
“Uncle Ben said that you’re a…”
“Uh-uh-uh-uh,” Simon broke in loudly, “You know we don’t say things like that, Augie.”
“But, Uncle Ben…”
“No,” Simon asserted effectively silencing his son.
Benedict mouthed a contrite ‘sorry’ to his brother-in-law who shook his head at him in disappointment while Colin stifled a laugh.
“Penelope, how lovely to see you,” Violet suddenly proclaimed loudly, drawing everyone’s attention.
The red head stood on the threshold of the living room having been let in by Violet’s housekeeper. Colin stood up to greet her just as she was engulfed in a big hug by his mother.
“It’s good to see you too, Mrs Bridgerton,” she replied warmly.
“Violet, please, Penelope,” she reminded her as always.
“Violet,” dutifully repeated with a smile.
A smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes, Colin noted as he got closer to her. In fact, she looked a bit upset.
“Hello, Pen,” he greeted softly. He drew her into his embrace and felt her relax against him. “Are you okay?” he whispered into her ear.
“Just mum things,” she replied quietly, “I’m fine.”
He knew she wasn’t, but he didn’t push, he merely squeezed her a little tighter for a brief moment then pulled back.
“Come on, brother, don’t hog her,” Benedict piped up from behind him.
Colin sighed and reluctantly let her go. His brother was treading a very thin line and he knew it, damn him, judging by his smirk.
One by one, his siblings gave her hug and by the time they sat down for lunch, she seemed in better spirits. The time passed pleasantly and far too quickly for his liking, but soon it was time to leave. He had to drive to the station and pick up Eloise and Phillip as they were returning from their break, but offered to drop Penelope off first.
He really wanted some time alone with her, even if it was short.
“Thanks for the lift,” she said once they were on the way. “I had a nice time. Your mum is so lovely.”
There was a lot more to garner from what she didn’t say and he reached out to briefly squeeze her hands that were tightly clasped in her lap.
“She definitely has her moments,” he agreed with a nod.
Penelope fell silent for a moment then said quietly, “I don’t want to talk about it.”
“I know,” he replied, “But if you do, you know I’m here, right?”
She nodded, “I do. You’re a very good friend, Colin.”
Friend.
He gave her a brief smile and turned into her street then came to stop outside her house.
“Have you got time for a drink?” she asked hopefully.
He checked his watch and nodded.
“I’ve got about half an hour.”
They got out and he followed her up the path to her door. There, laying to one side on the step was a parcel, tied with red ribbon.
“Oh!” she exclaimed, “Another present.” She bent and picked it up then turned to him with a delighted smile. “Quick, let’s get inside and see what it is.”
She got her keys out and Colin took them off her as usual to open the door. They went in and she went straight into the kitchen to get the kettle on.
He felt his heart skip at the realisation that, despite her excitement over the gift, she still thought of him first.
“So, they must have dropped this off themselves,” she mused as they waited for the kettle to boil.
“Or had it couriered like yesterday,” Colin countered.
“There’s no label.” She held it up so that he could see then put it back down on the table with a huff. “I knew I should’ve got one of those camera doorbells,” she muttered in annoyance.
Colin was glad that she hadn’t.
“Are you going to open it then?”
She pursed her lips a second, drawing his gaze, then shook her head.
“Actually, no, I think I’ll wait until you leave,” she decided. “You haven’t got long and I’d rather spend it talking to you.”
There went his heart again and he looked down to hide his pleased smile. Only he could be happy that she was choosing him over himself.
What a lovesick fool.
The kettle clicked off and he made them both a coffee. They chatted for a while, the gift forgotten, and then he checked his watch again and let out a sigh. He really needed to go. He stood up but when she went to do the same, he gestured for her to stay seated.
“I’ll see myself out,” he told her, then bent to give her the now, customary kiss on her cheek.
As he straightened up, she reached out and grabbed his hand, stopping him. He looked down at her in surprise, eyes questioning.
“Thanks for today, Colin,” she said with a small smile. “For not pushing I mean. My mum can be…”
“Selfish? Rude? Self-absorbed? Mad as a box of frogs?” he suggested archly. “You can stop me anytime I’m wrong.”
“I would do, if you had been,” she replied wryly.
They looked at each other a second, then suddenly began to laugh.
“Sorry, I have to go, Pen,” Colin groaned a few moments later when their laughter had abated.
“I know. You can’t keep Eloise waiting, you’ll never hear the end of it,” she sympathised.
He rolled his eyes at that, then grinned and raised his hand in goodbye.
Penelope was still smiling when she heard the door close behind him. She’d needed that laugh. Her mother had been on form earlier that morning and it had got to her more than normal for some reason. It just did sometimes.
Determined not to let it ruin the rest of evening, she picked up the present and carefully unwrapped it.
It was three notebooks. Not just any notebooks though, they were from Hastings Handcraft Stationers. Daphne’s exclusive stationery brand. Beautiful leather-bound books with bespoke embossed covers.
The first was black with a pattern of golden bees. The second was jade with pale yellow pens adorning it. The third was a lovely pale blue with purple butterflies. And all of them bore her name in gorgeous gilt lettering.
She ran a hand over the black notebook feeling the ridges of the embossed pictures under her fingertips and smiled. She loved them. He knew her so well.
Looking back at the wrapping paper, she saw another folded note and eagerly opened it up to read...
My Dearest Penelope,
I hope you find these journals of use to you.
N is for Notebooks.
I sit and imagine you at your desk or in a coffee shop writing all your thoughts and hopes and dreams down in them.
Am I one of them, I wonder?
Have you yet made a list of who you think your secret admirer is?
Could I be on it?
Or am I someone you wouldn’t even consider?
All these questions and I shall have to wait for the answer, my love.
Indeed, soon, we shall both have our answers, and I just hope that you are happy with yours.
Yours always,
?
Penelope folded the note and put into her pocket. She wondered what Colin would do if he knew he’d been the only ever name on her list. Picking up all the books, she took them upstairs to her room. Opening the bedside drawer, she got out the ballpoint pen he’d sent and flipped back the cover of the black notebook.
She wrote down the date on the first page then underneath put:
My Darling Colin,
You have always been my only hope, my only dream and on many days, my only thought.
I need no list because you are it! You are my list.
It has always been you and will only ever be you, because I love you, too.
It feels good to put it out there finally, even if it is just in this book for now.
Soon, I hope to tell you in person.
Until Valentine’s Day, my love…
Forever yours
Pen x
She closed the book and smiled.
Until Valentine’s…

I saw Augie for a few minutes, she started purring immediately and was rolling over so I could pet her while she slowly got closer lol. And a couple times she threw herself against my hand so I could pet her/out of happiness. And for the first time she rubbed the side of her face against my hand the way cats do when they are saying hey you’re mine also pet me. Then she looked so sad when I was leaving I almost cried so I’m going back later

wait what is the spell fic you mentioned, I think I missed that??
Ah! It's for And Then The Spell Was Cast, which is what I've named the series which has A Steady Murmur (always in your head), To Your Beacon in the Gloom and Love Me at the Ungodly Hour (and soon Like a Dog-less Bone [hey, look, the cruising fic has a title, haha]) in it.
The title's from Etta James' At Last, which is probably a bit cliche, but it's such a romantic song and one I think both works for them as a couple, but I also like the thought that she's an artist they both came to separately in those in-between years and maybe made them think of each other? Like I feel their musical taste probably varies in general, but Etta James would be someone I think they'd both really love, and would kind of feel in their reconnection/reunion, which is kind of why I picked it:
youtube
If you're interested in the other songs, they're:
The Steady Murmur (always in my head) - Hurricane, The Hush Sound
youtube
To Your Beacon in the Gloom - One Crowded Hour, Augie March (suuuuuch a Loustat song for me in general, actually).
youtube
Like a Dog-less Bone - Colour Me In, Damien Rice (probably spoilers for the fic plot in this one actually, haha).
youtube
Love Me at the Ungodly Hour - Love Me at the Ungodly Hour, Chloe x Halle (probably a little less appropriate lyrically overall, haha, but I love the song and the title really stuck in my head).

Willow Creek, the 2nd day of Spring
Augustine’s holiday trips to Willow Creek were always bittersweet. She loved the warmth she felt from her family, the shared laughter at the dinner table, and the smell of Winterfest’s gumbo. But it wasn’t every tradition from the Beaudelaire household that filled her heart with joy—actually, there were very few things she loathed as passionately as the ‘career summit’ her dad, Gust, would hold every year, a seasonal reminder of her less-than-stellar progress in the San Myshuno music scene. “Augie, chère, get on over here. We need to have a serious conversation,” he called as he entered the living room, already cleaned of any holiday decorations. He ran a hand over the ornate armrest of a baroque chair, a familiar gesture that always made Augie feel like she was stepping back in time. It was his world, one that made more sense to him than her fast-paced reality. “Hey, Dad, what’s going on?” she answered, taken from her daydreaming, standing beside the tall but narrow windows that framed the sunset outside. As soon as she processed her father’s words, she was struck by the ‘serious conversation,’ a significant change in her dad’s MO, since he usually started with a casual conversation, and would sneak in the progress check, painted as paternal interest. "Don't get me wrong, kid," he said, his voice already taking on that familiar, serious tone. "I hate to bring this up again, but this music career of yours—we gotta talk about it." Augie sighed. "Please, not again, Dad…" She knew her father was worried about her, and she appreciated it like every other child, but the familiar drill was exhausting. Why can’t he just show some faith in me for once? “I respect your dream of becoming a musician, darlin’” he started tentatively. “You know that. But, come on now, let’s be real.” His casual dismissal of her dream stung like a slap. “You’ve been grinding it out in San Myshuno for a good while now.” Her father grimaced, preparing to deliver the familiar lecture. Augie crossed her arms, bracing herself. “What have you accomplished that you are proud of—what do you have to show for all that hard work?” It wasn’t the first time Augie had dealt with her father’s demands, not even the first time after she moved to San Myshuno, but it never got easier. The feeling of letting her dad down, even if it was his own fault for holding such expectations, not hers—made her sick. Augie hesitated. “I know I haven’t achieved much yet, but—” “Oh, come on, Augie!”, he interrupted, snapping just like she knew he would, throwing his hands up in exasperation. “Flea markets and tiny bars aren’t a career!” She could practically recite the lines herself. He'd bring up the construction company any second now. “You’ve got the brains to be an engineer, work at the company—it’s your legacy too!” That was where he would really piss her off. “This music thing is a hobby, not a life.” “It’s not like I’m just messing around, Dad!” she blurted, her hands flying as she spoke, her words fueled by fierce determination. “Every late-night gig, every song I pour my heart into—it’s all building toward something. Yeah, it’s slow, and yeah, it’s though, but this is my dream, and I won’t give it up!” “Then prove me wrong.” her dad challenged, his face reddening, a vein throbbing in his neck. “Show me how playing music for passersby and getting their spare change is a viable career.” “And how am I supposed to do that?”, she replied, her voice in the same volume as his, her blood thrumming just as fast. Then she took a deep breath. No one ever won an argument by screaming. She stared at her father’s eyes, then closed her own for just a second, her hand on her forehead as a new headache was forming. “I’m working my tail off, Dad, but it is hard when not even you believe in me.” Her father’s temper got tamed by her frailty, his shoulders falling as he breathed in a calming pattern.
“You know I love you, chère, but I can’t just watch you flounder.” To his credit, he sounded sincere. “I know it’s tough love, but you need something concrete, something that shows you’re on the right path.” A chill ran through Augie as her anger subsided, so she crossed her arms again, waiting for her father to continue. “You have one season, Augie.” His words settled heavily in her stomach. “One season to prove this is a viable career. If not, you come back home, go back to college, and join the family business”, her father offered. “Deal?” Her first thought was a defiant no. Three years of work—just to give it all up now? She was independent; he couldn't force her. Augie had grown up with a military dad. She knew better than to disobey Captain Beaudelaire. And she was just as stubborn as he was. She would not show her fear. “Deal.”
As palavras dele ficaram pesadas no estômago dela.

Frame 7: A expressão do personagem masculino parece calma e pensativa enquanto ele fala. O clichê do artista faminto, é claro”. E a segunda: “Mas se há uma coisa que aprendi, é quando não contrariar papai - quero dizer, o poderoso Capitão Beaudelaire”.

hey do you ever. do you ever think about how. do you ever think Conrad's red silk pyjamas and Midge's bathrobe look similar.
the way there's parallels between Jones' character's love interest and Conrad. and there's parallels between Augie's dead wife and Conrad.

I remembered my question ~~while eating ice cream with Jet~~!
It doesn't have to be Cafe Noir though actually! If you had to choose ONE song for each of your characters (either all of them or any of your choice 😊) what would it be?
P.S. I might not give Jet back for 2-3 business days but I will treat him very nicely, I promise! 😅
P.P.S. hoping this silliness amuses you 😄
I'm so glad you remembered!! And that's quite alright, Jet won't mind it one bit, he loves any ounce of attention and kindness he can get!
