Byzantine Armenia, my love.⁣

Making a major component of the Byzantine army, Armenians played a very important role in the Eastern Roman Empire. They were found in all areas of Roman life, from military leaders to scholars to traders to politicians, with several even becoming emperor (though having to become Roman to do so).⁣ Sargis himself was often a mercenary for Byzantium/Theodora, playing the role of her bodyguard at points. They often worked together and became quite close, with palace gossip often speculating how far the relationship truly went between their sacred personification and her knight “Sergios.”⁣

However, this isn’t to say things were perfect between them. Political and religious differences often put them at odds with each other, and Theodora was not always the kindest to those who were non-Roman (Armenians were about the bare minimum for being a “civilized people” in Byzantium).⁣ Despite the power Armenians had cultivated within the military over centuries, they were eventually replaced and left as a divided people. This division would come back to bite Theodora, as it turns out that effectively nuking your main guard isn’t a great idea. The Eastern Roman Empire would be invaded by the Turks, and the Armenian borderlands were powerless to stop it. In the end, a weakened Sargis would survive the fall and bitterly celebrate her decline.

Hi. I saw your art of Russian regions as Hetalia characters and they're really good! You should try and draw Hetalia personifications for the Central Asian nations, like Kazakh, Uzbek, Kyghriz, etc., and the Transcaucases (I think I spelt it wrong lol): Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.

I thought about it... and even had some old sketches of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Maybe some day idk 🙃

Ey. Still alive. I was momentarily disrupted by the earthquakes. Ended up in Armenia for several weeks with no wifi. Back in Tbilisi now. Anyway, during my no wifi time, I took up a lot of writing again....but not Hetalia. I got back into my old stupid DBZ crap. I wasn’t going to link these two accounts at all because I was kinda embarrassed about it, and then I suddenly realized out of nowhere that I would fess up to someone about being in the DBZ fandom a million times over before I fessed up to being in the Hetalia fandom. (obvs no offense, my dudes) Therefore...if any of you by chance happen to be into that, here’s my other tumblr and AO3. I don’t know if I’ll get back into Hetalia, as after finishing up my last few big stories I kinda lost all interest again, alas. You know how it is. It comes and goes.

i'm reblogging this again despite the poll being over from a few-ish months ago? but even with the vote being split in half, I want to say why i believe the fandom has become extremely hostile.

please keep in mind, i hate discourse. discourse rots your soul, especially if you partake in petty discourse a lot, but i have seen so many people driven out of this fandom from hateful people who enjoy hurting others for fun (ie, "bring back bullying") or to feel like they are justice incarnate.

Even I have been subject to extremely ableist asks, both on anon and not anon, ranging from making fun of a condition I do not even have in the first place (regardless, still harmful to those who have said condition) to people saying that I am faking trauma from going through countless traumatic events, despite actually having PTSD and still dealing with the effects of generational trauma on both sides of my family.

Alongside ableism, I have seen countless people in this fandom experience countless other bigotries like racism, antisemitism, transmisogyny, transphobia...the list goes on. a close friend was driven out due to racism in the fandom, and someone i followed and commissioned before had to deal with antisemitism to the point they were falsely accused of being a z1onist. one of my closest friends was driven out from transmisogyny for simply being MtF, and some people celebrated that they were driven out because "i hate women lol" and embraced transmisogyny!

worst of all, there have been cases of stalking in this fandom, even I have been stalked countless times in the fandom as a means to drive me out, ranging from getting non-anon asks on a blog i made in secret to having my ao3 comments on a vent fic i wrote filled with harassment, this fandom has been becoming far less safe for marginalized groups.

yet there are still people in the fandom celebrating that they are the worst fandom ever, never to realize that it's blindly spitting on the face of bipoc, disabled, queer, and countless other marginalized groups who call hetalia a comfort.

even if you do not like someone, why spend all of this energy towards harassing people you don't like when you can use that energy for good? energy that can be for raising funds and supporting a free Palestine, a free Hawai'i, a free Congo, a free Armenia, supporting queer collectives like the Trevor Project (which has actually helped me out when I was suicidal), hell, even supporting an artist you like when they need money the most! and yet people in this fandom would rather fight over things most people don't give a flying fuck about about and ignore the welfare of marginalized peoples in the fandom.

remember this, blocking is always better than harassment. being nice to people you vibe with is better than being mean to someone you don't like.

i've been noticing a LOT more hostility in the fandom lately but I cannot tell if this is a recent development or not but I want to ask everyone in the fandom if this is a spike in hostility

Focused mainly on Heracles' relationships with his fellow Balkan nations, Armenia, Georgia, Egypt, Western Europe, and his extremely complicated relationship with Turkey.

Drawing mostly from the moment of the arrival of the Serbs in the Balkans, to Miroslav's rise as an independent Kingdom, his own struggles for independence, the Balkan Wars (to which he's the main POV character), World War 1, and the end of Yugoslavia. Focuses a lot of Miroslav's relationship with his brother Montenegro, a crucial character. Also a lot of importance placed in his relationship with other Balkan nations (especially Bulgaria, Romania and Greece), Hungary, Austria, Russia and France.

From the birth of the Bulgarian nation, to the Second Bulgarian Empire, to the scars born by the Ottoman Empire and the Independence, to the Balkan Wars, the World Wars and the Soviet Union, Dimitar suffered a lot in his long history. Massive focus on Dimitar's relationship with Romania, whose story is closely intertwined to Dimitar's. Also focus on the historic and bloodied Greece-Bulgaria rivalry, the past tensions with Turkey, and the sibling relationship with North Macedonia. [UNDER CONSTRUCTION]
