I tend to stick to human AUs because the whole immortality thing freaks me out a little bit (my personal and chronic existential dread...) and I genuinely cannot get a grip on how interpersonal relationships between characters would work when you consider personal strife as well as actual politics and history. Plus in human AUs, I can just stick 'em in silly situations. For a while I entertained myself with a silly grocery store AU that led to some very fun New Character Groups (EX: I put Natalya, Piri, and Feliks in customer service bc I think the three of them together would actually be really fun, but this post isn't about them.). Does it make sense to stick Heta characters in an American style grocery store? No. But the shenanigans entertain me.

I'm an absolute sucker for FACE fam AUs and just soft FrUK content, so I really enjoy slice of life modern things with them. I realistically could enjoy putting them in any time period, but FrUK is just comfort to me atp. Literally talking with friends, I'll send cat videos and be like "wow this is so FrUK"

Speaking of cats. I yap with @jaynuu (hi sorry for the ping) a bunch abt FrUK + them owning their nekotalia counterparts. Them owning the cats can literally be applied to nationverse, human AU, human AU with FACE fam, etc etc it goes on and on - there are so many variables

Together we've surmised that Arthur owned Neko-France first; a fluffy little monster who has known nothing but the lavish comfort of the indoors. Whether or not Arthur's got Neko-Fran before he and Francis are together/living together depends on the situation, but Neko-Eng comes along after. Francis manages to tame this absolutely feral cat, and nobody understands how, because he seems to hate everyone but Francis. Neko FRUK get along very well. FrUK just have gay cats now.

Neko-Fran is a strictly indoor cat while Neko-Eng is allowed to go outside (the guy would NOT stop howling to be let out, after all, he did spend most of his life outdoors). One afternoon FrUK come back home to find Neko-Eng out on the front doorstep with two kittens he's randomly acquired????? They're on the younger side and both a vet visit and asking around yield no results as to where the kittens came from, so Francis and Arthur just have two??? New cats?? Which are Neko-NA bros. Neko-FrUK take to caring for the kittens as their own and shenanigans ensue in a household with FOUR cats

I have been trying to dip my feet into some historical works, but through a piece with Miss Ukraine, I'm learning I'm just not very good at it due to writing the dialogue and worrying about if I'm getting things correct. I would eventually like to play around with FrUK from 1300s-1600s with the Hundred Years' War, the Wars of the Roses, and the Tudor Period as a whole. I've been DYING to play with the Field of Cloth of Gold for a hot minute. While it's something I'd love to do, I don't know if I'll ever get around to it because in the last year or so I just have lost a lot of braincells. If I could think coherently, I'd love to sit down, research, and craft some story, but alas. I can't decide if I'd use regular 1P FrUK or if I'd use nyo!FrUK either. I would LOVE to play around with designing some 16th century outfits for the girlies

personal complaining rant about haikyuu and hypermasc fanart--because!!! speaking exaggeratedly for fun, and because i don't think anyone's reading

i just saw very very veryvery cute sakuushi art, right after seeing some haikyuu fanart that i really do not like... thing i've realized is i think i hated a lot of the haikyuu fandom so much because, a lot of the art was very masculine LOL. it'll depend on the fandom side ofcourse... and it's not like everyone drew it like that. but i was always stupid and crazyparticular sometimes. hypermasc depictions of characters, in haikyuu fandom i reaaaally hated it. especially because my favorite was ushijima (>_>) it was over. i didn't know how to explain it back then because i was a kid and totally disconnected from that thought, i decided it was because i didn't like my fav being sexualized(complete lie lmao)

a lot of haikyuu fandom sees the boys more as love interests in like, an otome game? or something. or potential husbands. which is fair, people can do what they want... i don't care... well i do care because i hate the drawings and i hate the depictions. but this is my own problem mostly, i didn't end up aligning with most of fan's views on it. ushijima isn't my husband... (gnaws hand) i wouldn't intrude like that... he wouldn't see me like that even if i wanted him to be my wife..... and i would pale in comparison to his other suitors(is now just crazed). not only that i don't align with their shipping views either?! if i was bored by most of the main pairs the fandom decided on when i first got into haikyuu, by now i basically hate them. fuck bokuaka and fuck that one fanfic. (seethe) well actually the ship is fine, most ships are fine or would be fine if i didn't think a lot of the fanwork was atrocious about the characters lol. my art leans feminine, and most of my preferences does too. but i didn't Like the characters that fans decided was feminine like that. i didn't care for them, or i didn't even see them like that! maybe my view of what is fem/masc is a little too jumbled up, but i abide by it. fuck all of this. fuck you. and fuck ushioi. oiushi is fine. ushioi nearly made me dislike oikawa with it's sheer force. oikawa is fine actually he's funny. in fact ushijima and oikawa's relationship IS interesting... i just hate 90% of what i saw of it fanon-wise. sakuushi is precious to me, because gap moe is super. i never liked sakuatsu and i probably never will. i love atsumu but this is not where he should beee...(rolls around). it also made me despise mafia aus by instinct. im crazy but heta is kind of fresh air to me for this, so many cutesy art... so many fun art... and the source material goes with it too. if not outright cute then it's funny, which is cute itself! even if it's dark or weird it's still cute. and so much more ryona than i could ever dream of (Im So Happy). at least back then when i was more brain tied to haikyuu, there were the bunch of people who'd make more cute art. in english fandom, the cartoonish funny cuteness. i find easian fandoms get the characters down in a way i like much more most of the time tho lol. for some reason the jokes people pick up on are different? like you don't see obsessive fan shirabu in english fandom LOL. but seasian fandom does a lot of handsome ultramasc husbando haikyuu fanart(gnaws hand). that's not surprising... i know indonesians like manboobs... whatever idon't even care. i don't care. i don't.

i'm complaining so i might as well, but saddening to me when art of characters being feminine felt so limited. especially for the characters with more "masculine" bodytypes(fuck all of you). again my view of fem/masc is a little jumbled, or kind of weird so my words don't mean much here. but i never understood why characters were so limited by fans in it. if a ""masculine""(fuck you) character were to be given like, a dress, or feminine clothing, it'd be like, deliberately an outlier in some way. like for the "absurdity" of it... they'd never shut up about the absurdity too... i don't care if it's sexualization it's just really annoying to keep being like this guy is so masculine but he's wearing a dress!!! crazy right!!! look how annoyed he is scowling and jaw hard and muscles tense!!! don't you see how crazy masculine he is while in that dress!!!! i'll kill you all. characters flustered in dresses is cute. nobody understands. it's over. it's just strange to see, the only characters where anyone ever acknowledges their feminine traits are whoever people decide are twinks. the characters who isn't usually get focus on how dominant and masculine they are. No i think ushijima has feminine traits? fuck all of you. it's kind of my fault for preferring feminine things while falling in love with strong/big characters LOL. fml... not my fault the fandom's dearest chosen twinks are MID and not WIFE MATERIAL. i don't like twink atsumu miya actually but he's still a cute puppy. okay? fuck. can't we balance this out. can't a cute girlfriend who gets red in the face also work out and be professional athletes? can't tall fit girls faces get flushed confessing to you? do you hate me? why can't everyone be cute girls is it so wrong? look they're slice of life-ing isn't this so cute?!?! don't you agree that it's cute to see them eat meat buns in the snow and have puffs of breath show up?! i'll just yuribend them all. i guess

i say this but i also just never rly gravitate towards more petite or smaller characters. so. lol. and if they have a shy timid pathetic personality it makes me want to see them seme more... lol... the predicament. all the characters with aura is decided seme tch.... which makes sense... tch.. i guess... i'll accept that ame makes sense seme/uke(but i'd never ever let him or draw him seme don't get me wrong.) but i won't allow it for ushijima. im smiling at the sky. my girlfriends are so cu

but if you dig you can find fanart of them in super very cute artstyles! the core of haikyuu is volleyball fun after all. most of the time the characters behave very endearingly, rather than the super macho mafia bosses people are so insistent on. for the majority of it's runtime they're stupid teenage boys, and even after timeskip they're having good fun. they're happy and loving. i really can't stand a lot of the fanart. but if you find right you will find the best the cutest the sweetest. (my current heta twt used to be the acc i used scouring for cute haikyuu fanart and posting them LOL... i still follow some haikyuu accounts bcz of it)(korean sakuushi art!!! the absolute best!!!) ones that really understand haikyuu's cuteness. it's still a manga dear to my heart, even tho i'll avoid checking in the fandom 90% of the time.

Shae vizla growth from the shadow of Revan to old wounds 

Edit: This was supposed to come out before 7.5 xD and wow I have thoughts, but I'll do that another day.

With 7.5 out, I wanted to talk about Shae and her growth as a character We first officially see Shae in two cinematics for Swtor and a bit in some books, but we don’t officially meet Shae till the shadow of Revan on Rishi.

Her reaction to you depends on what your playing if your the grand champion IE a mandalorian she’s not as rude but still brash and forward about recognizing you as manda’lors favorite champion. (well technically your vindicateds kid but that’s for another discussion) Her overall tone during your first interaction with her is proud overconfident brash but she does respect your ability to fight if your humble about it.

she doesn’t show up again till the finale battle on yavin 4 her talk of being in battles for glory and credits differ to other mandalorians

Next time we see shae is in kote manda’lors revenge after 6 years. Her reaction is somewhat similar even if your not a Mando but if you are you do get options only for Mando players which I think is neat.

Her attitude isn’t as Prideful or rude but she’s still a headstrong women she’s older now and is a reluctant leader as we learn she took the title of manda’lor by accident which is fitting.

Through the chapter depending on what you choose to say shae speaks how the commander and her are loners being put in charge of armies which is true shae is a loner even though she’s a mandalorian.

It’s a long long while before we get anything on shae again we get a small piece of dialogue from her on mek sha and mentions from other characters. But things get getting interesting for shae when we meet her again.Talking to her advisor jekiah ordo her words and actions aren’t as hostile or rude more solemn and a good leader even though she never wanted it but seeing shae confining in the player is nice especially if your a Mando like her.

The chats you get before the spirit of vengeance is fun and interesting lore wise and for character growth for shae and her attitude towards it she prefers the talk of warriors to the ever annoying discussion of politics which is something mandos dislike a lot in Mandalorian culture.

after the incident aboard the spirit of vengeance shae goes to hunt heta and puts jekiah in charge. Shes determined and ready to hunt her but we see shae become more distant from her culture and people heading back into old habits when she was a bounty hunter.

We do get a short story and a couple of transmissions of her searching for heta and the hidden chain before showdown of ruhhunk happens but it is little while before it happens.

Showdown on ruhnunk is extremely exciting for shae content and what the player can choose for the outcome of the whole ordeal shae acts in different ways in this chapter and it can go either way. Shae is sane but we can see her frustration of wanting heta gone and the urge to kill without reason or care and acting irrational when it comes to the right thing to do. Her reasons are understandably but its a bit much even for a mando player. But it all comes to a bang when heta and shae fight one another and shae getting injured but is still alive and kicking and the aftermath is the most interesting depending on what you choose to do.

The next time we see shae is in old wounds we do have one or two letters before that but when we see shae. She's trying to talk to malgus and is a bit hostile to your companions and even you if you did bad stuff on runhhunk the whole situation is a bit tense for everyone involved.

However in chains in the dark shae goes missing which leads to a bit of chaos for the few that know IE jekiah rass the commander Lana and Theron know shes missing.

and with 7.5 my god that has shaken things up but i will talk about that another day.

but from everything we have seen of shae she has grown in many aspects of her life and fallen back at times more recently shae is able to grow but old habits can resurface and take hold over her a lot i just hope she is able to continue to grow and fix the mess from 7.5 as her character is really interesting and it would be a true shame if they butcher her character development and story.

as someone not around in the fandom in 2011 are you able to elaborate any more on the "empire sickness" thing? I know there's some hesitance to depict empires/imperialism in certain circles within the fandom but I'm kind of intrigued

Preface: Depicting or avoiding depictions of things are good to figure out for yourself and not assign morality to on the face of it. Someone who wants to dig into political aspects of human life are subject to critique of how they handle it rather than if they tried at all, people who avoid it should be given the space to do so and also not insult others for not being avoidant.

The idea of empire sickness was employed in jpn and eng speaking heta fandom most likely to explain the characterization shifts in the manga, where characters currently subjugating others were acting completely deranged beyond their usual marks. This is bcs its a gag manga, obviously, but fandom loves to work with the concept of "that but serious" and work out the mechanics, and if it can mean something psychologically or symbolically, etc.

My presumption as someone who left by 2012 for homestuckier pastures is that the general age of fans at the time led to an uptick of people doing it in extremely bad taste with little or misled effort in how they went about it. I do remember bits and pieces of people going "its so cool actually theyre the best this means theyre winning" and not making it a sickness at all, which would be so connected that anyone writing it as a negative aspect would get the same flack regardless of intention or presentation.

And again, i wasnt there for the fallouts or discussion, all i can do is extrapolate from the extreme sanitation of fanworks that i see now compared to the early days. As always, reread my preface along with this conclusion.

Vulpin and Heta have recently met(according to the stuff I've posted on Tumblr, but I created them both a while ago, and put them in this ship a while back. In my head, they've gotten married)

Vulpin:

• You should not let her speak freely unless you want to be cursed at

• Seriously, she should cut back on the cursing

• Past substance abuse issues, but mostly sober now(does have a couple drinks every now and then, but it was WAY worse a few years back)

• Lots of PTSD

• Did I mention she was raised on and by the the streets? No? Well, there's that

• Had zilch in self preservation, and used to not eat properly at all

• Owns an antique store, which is a cover for several illegitimate businesses

• Would like to start a non-profit

• Has two kids, who Heta knows about, however has not met yet(as of where the Tumblr excerpts take place)

OH and for context: this is an experimental international team organized by the IIHF to compete in worlds and do diplomacy/global outreach stuff. most of the players are on teams in their home countries but they all take their position on the international team very seriously.

Fran gives MAF energy lol. Delightfully whimsical, outrageously accomplished, and overall very talented goalie. Lutz is your classic autist goalie. Freaky net rituals, barely speaks to media and says the most oddball shit when he does, there’s rumors he’s actually a robot that has been programmed with exactly one task: stop puck.

First line: Lu and Eirí are insanely gifted hockey brothers but Lu HATES playing on the same team as his baby brother lol. The two of them are an INCREDIBLE first line with Ber because they’ve got some weird nordic soul bond going on. Locked in 100% of the time. Take their job very seriously. They go HARD on the power play.

Second line: The “FUCK YEAH, HOCKEY!!!” line. They’re all SO excited to play and are very physical forwards. Do whatever it takes to get that puck in the net, aren’t afraid to make or take a few hits to score. That’s why they’re so good on the PK- they can play a defensive offense well.

Third line: Not much to say here, they just have surprisingly good line chemistry! I think their different personalities and styles of play all balance out and create a well rounded line.

Fourth line: poor little meow meows 😵‍💫 vasch is an accomplished veteran who is taking it easy until his impending retirement and has been tasked with babysitting the two kids on the team lol. A surprisingly effective line because raivis is terrified of failure and peter has Daddy Issues and is desperate to impress Vasch.

The D-pairs are just *chefs kiss* lol. Mattie and Vanya are a fucking MENACE on the ice, dirty players and just huge guys. Vanya is fucking his captain. Mattie is the captain’s brother and roasts the both of them mercilessly over this. Gil and Lars are an unlikely pair- they’re both physical, but focus more on play tactics than brute strength. Very organized and excellent communication between each other and their forwards. Vi and Feliks are husbands that cannot be separated. They’re not particularly impressive looking at first but they just do. not. stop. Absolutely relentless.

Lovi and Feli are WAGs(HABs?) to Toni and Lutz respectively. Lovi hates all the WAG bonding shit but Feli goes all out for it- themed parties, matching jackets, active groupchat, etc etc. Mattie’s wife(Katyusha!) is the “head WAG” and coordinates all their events and charities. Erzsi plays defense on the Hungarian women’s national team so she isn’t too involved with the Heta-WAGs as she’s busy having her own sports career. The first time Eirí brought Lili to a game, the WAGs immediately adopted her into the fold. Even if he leaves the team, i think she’ll always be a Heta-WAG lol.

This is likely completely incomprehensible if you don’t watch hockey but 🤷‍♀️ i am incapable of enjoying things a normal amount.

Spoilers for swtor 7.4 or whatever were on right now.

I love swtor. I really do. I liked the new zone and characters. Under different circumstances, I'd be happy with it.

But.... cmon, devs! It's been so many months since 7.0 dropped! And years since we first met Heta Kol, and saw that Malgus had a plan (tm).

I can't speak for most players. but me, personally: I need answers for a change, not vague hints promising something major and destructive is coming! As of this moment, it looks like Malgus just wants to burn the galaxy down to "start over" or something. And it's very cult-y. Very edgeboi. I can't believe they resurrected him just for this. And are keeping him alive.

And Heta Col... why do so many Mandos fanatically follow her? I've never been gung-ho about Mandalorians, I've always seen then as a civilization of professional raiders, bandits, thugs, pirates, and bullies. But the Hidden Chain seems to be following Heta for no other reason than to be allowed to return to pillaging. All they had to do was go their own way, Shae didn't seem like she had the power to force everyone to toe her line. But they're fighting the only Mandalore to win against the Eternal Empire.

What's worse... the time gap between updates. I realized yesterday, to my horror, that I can't remember what's going on. This kind of gap isn't conducive to a slow, patiently paced storyline. This isn't FF14.

I was hoping for answers, or at least, time with Lana and Theron.

Another problem, perhaps minor to some: we're returning to old worlds, instead of exploring new ones. Selonia, Mon Cala, Ithor, Rodia, Sullust, Vortex, Ryloth, Felucia, Bothawui, Kashyyyk, Trandosha, Gamorr, Bimmisaari, Tanaab, Chandrilla, Contruum, Carida, Csilla... as Lana says, "So much galaxy yet to explore, and here we are."

And a final, large complaint: "The Republic is corrupt and doesn't exist out here *at all*" is a trope that I'd like to see subverted, for a change. We need wins for the idea of Democracy. The Empire has always functioned as intended, with Chancellor Rans in command, I'd have hoped the Republic briefly did as well.
