⤷ AN EIGHT-LEGGED PROBLEM
Tumblr media
OIKAWA TOORU & SAKUSA KIYOOMI & HAIBA LEV & MIYA ATSUMU X READER -> 1.8K
you save your boyfriend from a massive problem which is currently in the corner of your bathroom )
Tumblr media
REQUEST -> n/a
CONTAINS -> spiders, bugs, you picking up said creepy crawlies, hq boys being no! help! at! all! (but that's ok bc we love them for it), fanon-ish sakusa cos i haven't read the manga and he had like 5 seconds of screen time so i'm just going off of what i've read + seen, clear favouritism despite the fact that i know basically nothing about sakusa, manga timeskip spoilers in sakusa's
MORI'S THOUGHTS -> haven't seen one where the reader is the one in the relationship who takes care of bugs so since i'm a #girlboss who throws spiders out of my room whenever i see them without breaking a sweat i'm writing that into a fun lil thing with the haikyuu boys that i strongly believe are scared of bugs. also besides the point but look at the pretty colour palette that their banners make fjfjfjdj will go back to writing the requests after this! inspiration just struck
Tumblr media
❍ OIKAWA TOORU
-> omg this fucking guy
-> don't let his pride fool you this man HATES bugs with a burning passion
-> he'll never admit it though
-> between you and the aoba johsai team he would never hear the end of how the great king oikawa would cower at the sight of a moth doing laps around a lightbulb
-> so when you pretended not to hear the shriek that left your boyfriend when he saw something flying around the bathroom light and he declined your offer to get rid of the moth for him, this left oikawa in a pretty difficult situation
-> it was just him alone in the bathroom, trying to brush his teeth while eyeing the bug warily
-> you came in a few minutes later, getting ready to go to bed as well
-> "you know, babe, that moth's been there for quite a while," you teased him
-> oikawa hummed in response, his eyes never leaving it as it continued its circumnavigation of the light fixture
-> "oh, you know. who am i to kick someone out of their home? i'm no monster"
-> you almost snorted at how poor of an excuse that was, but ruffled your boyfriend's hair anyway
-> "i'll take care of it, ru, you just finish getting ready"
-> "but y/n-chan, that moth has feelings! don't be mean to it!"
-> you gave tooru a very blank stare at that
-> "so do you want me to leave you alone with your new friend?"
-> "......no"
-> "that's what i thought"
-> you went up to the moth, managing to trap it in your hands before releasing it from a window
-> oikawa shuddered as you came back to the sink, giving your hands a quick rinse before resuming with brushing your teeth like nothing had happened
-> "you're so brave, my love"
-> "anything for you, babe"
❍ SAKUSA KIYOOMI
-> bless this poor boy
-> so it's no secret that sakusa isn't the fondest of germs
-> and that extends to bugs and spiders too
-> besides a normal amount of disgust that he held for them, the thought of where the insects had been or placed one of their many feet on never failed to make his skin crawl
-> that's where you, his wonderful significant other, comes in
-> as much as he loves you, he just can't understand how you always stared at bugs with wonder in your eyes
-> you'd even pick them up, cooing at the way they crawled up your arm while sakusa just stared at you in disbelief with a can of bug spray in hand
-> tonight was one of those swelteringly hot summer nights
-> you know, the ones where the air seems to be still no matter how many windows you open and every insect in a mile radius is actively trying to enter your home
-> you were spending the night at your boyfriend's apartment, ready to have a relaxing night in with him since your schedules had finally synced up and allowed you both to enjoy a day off at the same time
-> it took months of trust before sakusa finally admitted to you how much he enjoyed doing skincare
-> so whenever you two spent the night together, you decided to start the evening with some face masks and idle binging of a tv show
-> against his half-hearted protests, you had insisted that sakusa wore a headband while this happened (one that had a very cute duck face printed on it)
-> just to keep the curls out of his face, of course
-> whenever he caught you sneaking a candid of him with facemask and duck headband on, he just shot you a halfhearted glare and threatened you to never send that to atsumu or the rest of the msby team
-> (you set it as your home screen instead)
-> anyways, i digress
-> so tonight you decided to cool down from the heat with a few facemasks and cuddling in your boyfriend's heavily air conditioned living room
-> but he kept all his skincare stuff in the bathroom, so you went to go get them as he set up a show to watch along with some snacks
-> you flicked on the light, going to his cabinet when something in the corner of the room caught your eye
-> there was a fairly large spider, desperately trying to crawl up the smooth tile wall
-> you decided to take pity on it and release it
-> but when you had it cupped safely in your hands, you decided to terrorise your poor boyfriend just a little
-> "hey, omi, look what i found!"
-> your boyfriend perked up at your signature nickname for him, though his eyes narrowed as he saw your clasped hands held in front of you
-> "no"
-> "but baby, you haven't even seen-"
-> "no"
-> you giggled at how defensive he had become
-> "come on, don't you want to name it? it's very cute"
-> "i want you to throw it out, y/n"
-> "alright, alright"
-> you took the spider to a window, releasing it back outside before heading back to the bathroom and grabbing a few masks for real this time
-> sakusa gave you the cold shoulder as you sat down next to him, humming as you gave him a face mask and putting it on without a word
-> "aww, baby, i'm sorry"
-> "..."
-> "i'll give you a head massage if you stop ignoring me?"
-> sakusa turned to you, his eyes narrowed in thought as he stared you down
-> the act soon broke, though, and he smiled against the sheet mask that was on his face
-> "it better be a good one," he huffed as he tugged the duck headband off, already sighing at the sensation of your fingers against his scalp
-> "omi, come on, what do you take me for?"
❍ HAIBA LEV
-> ngl lev gives off equal amounts of being terrified of like the tiniest spider or just finding bugs insanely cool vibes
-> it's funnier to imagine this 6-foot-something guy scramble away from a fucking crane fly in terror though so this is how it's going to play out
-> when you invited your giant of a boyfriend to your flat, you didn't anticipate just how small he made everything appear
-> he even towered in your doorway, having to stoop to step through into your hall
-> "woahh, i love your place!"
-> it was his first time staying over for the night, and lev was making sure to drink in every aspect of your interior design
-> you found it sweet of him, and watched as he stared in wide-eyed wonder at the little trinkets you had collected over the years to make your small apartment seem more like a home
-> you didn't expect him to scream at the top of his lungs and practically run back to you, though
-> you jumped at the sound, watching as he scrambled away from your lamp and pointed back at it with a shaking finger
-> you squinted at it, making out the very menacing form of a crane fly as it bumped into the lampshade and continued on its path
-> "lev, you big baby," you giggled, heading to the kitchen to grab a glass and trap it
-> "y/n, don't leave me alone with it!" he yelped, and you rolled your eyes at his antics
-> you came back, smoothly capturing the insect and throwing it out of a nearby window
-> lev was sat on your couch the whole time, hands covering his eyes as he curled in a ball
-> "is it gone?" he asked, and you you giggled at how childlike he was acting at the moment
-> "it's all good, baby" you smoothed his hair and lev gratefully leaned into your touch, a sigh of relief leaving him
-> "thank you, y/n"
-> "i'll get rid of all the bugs in the world for you, lev"
❍ MIYA ATSUMU
-> gives off the vibes that he used to eat bugs as a child i'm sorry but
-> have mercy on his soul lmao
-> so twins are supposed to be identical right?
-> anyone who spends more than a few minutes around the miya twins know that that's a complete fucking lie
-> and you've had the misfortune of being friends with them for a very long time
-> like your mums were friends and you were all born around the same time
-> you've been pulled into their shit before you could walk or talk
-> so you're well aware of just how different these mfs are
-> even though they were both absolute bastards, osamu always had a slightly more mellowed out approach which would always end up with atsumu getting the blame for what they got up to
-> especially as a child, osamu loved to terrorise his twin with the unwilling help of you
-> one of the ways was through osamu exploiting one of his twins' fears
-> that being bugs and spiders
-> he always cackled at the sight of atsumu screaming and trying to run away from him due to the spider he was holding
-> as they both grew up, this became less of a frequent thing for osamu to do
-> you also somehow started dating atsumu, but nobody could exactly pinpoint a moment that signified a beginning to your relationship
-> but since you're dating the world's biggest manchild in disguise, and osamu gets annoyed with atsumu quite easily, you would have to swoop in to rescue him from time to time
-> recently the twins had been getting a little snappy with each other, and it had yet to sort itself out
-> from what you had heard your boyfriend was in the wrong this time, but you still listened to him whine and rant about it
-> you were going to the inarizaki school gym to say hi to your boyfriend and best friend before practice started, only to see absolute chaos unfolding
-> with kita yet to arrive, the twins were effectively unleashed and that much was clear with the way atsumu was practically screaming his head off as he ran around the gym
-> your eyes took in the rest of the players- aran had his head in his hands, suna was snickering with his phone out to record the newest miya twin fight, and osamu's deranged laugh could be heard above everything else as he chased his brother, hand held out in front of him
-> only one thing was capable of making atsumu scream like that, so you already knew what was happening
-> atsumu quickly spotted you hovering in the doorway, and made a beeline to where you were
-> his eyes were panicked, and you were quick to wrap him in a hug as you shot osamu a nasty glare over his shoulder
-> literally this lmfao
-> "that's enough, 'samu"
-> your best friend paused, before a smile spread across his face as he dangled the centipede in front of him
-> "you know it was rubber, right?"
-> you felt your boyfriend tense in your arms and you bit your lip to stifle a small giggle
-> but at least they would be back to normal by the end of today

Breathing
a/n: back by popular demand, i will forewarn you. this might make you cry, either from feelings or disappointment. you’ll know in the end
Tumblr media
oikawa tooru x reader
(technically part 2 of that oikawa angst but more like part 1.5)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was one memory.
A memory from the past shared between two children who were filled with nothing but purity and innocence from the misgivings of the world.
A simple blurb from the past.
But it was then that the childish promise was made that was never met.
And it hurt.
...
She was only 10 when it happened.
He already turned 11, but just a few weeks ago.
They sat together in her room as they looked through the picture book of her parents and their past. Of course, she cringed at every picture because these were the same people who had no shame in showing their love through kisses at the front door for the whole world to see. Yet, she also valued the love that was clear-even in the pictures-because they were the evidence for her hope of love.
Tooru giggled as he pointed at the picture of the baby version of her being carried in the arms of her mother while her father stood behind the two, proudly smiling a grin so big that it made his eyes crinkle.
“You were such a flabby baby, y/n-chan!” You looked up from another picture and glared at him before kicking him with your foot.
“So mean, Tooru!”
He looked offended and gently took the picture off of the plastic slot to prove his point of the wrinkly little bean.
“Look! You had wrinkles right here and you weren’t even a day old yet!” He laughed and you couldn’t help but snatch it from his grasp, thinking that his words were true and that you were indeed a fat baby.
You held up the picture to the light to see the wrinkles more clearly but you saw faint lines on the picture.
There was something written in the back.
You turned it over and Tooru saw you flip the photograph so he scooted over next to you to see what exactly was written.
‘Breathing the same air, in the same space, was enough reason to fall in love.’
You tilted your head in confusion and had to re-read through the sentence again to try and understand what it exactly meant. But you were still confused.
Tooru had the same problem and even took the picture so he could clearly see what was being written and not just a misunderstanding of the different characters placed together.
“Fall in love?” you questioned out loud, furrowing your eyebrows together.
He shrugged, “I don’t know. I mean, I’ve never been in love before.”
“Mommy tells me that she fell in love with Papa because he cooked good tonkatsu. Is that what they meant?”
“Baka,” he playfully nudged. “I think it means your father or mother fell in love with you the moment you took your first breath.”
You looked at Tooru with an impressed look in your eyes. “Oooo, look at you, Tooru-kun! Since when did you get so smart?!”
He gave you an unamused smile before hitting your legs, which were laid across his lap. “I’m literate. And I have brain cells. Don’t think you can relate.”
You pouted then crossed your arms. “What about you, Tooru-kun? Did you fall in love with me when we met?”
He paused, thinking about it. “Hm, I don’t know. I don’t remember our first meeting since we were just babies so I can’t answer your question.”
“What about now?” You quietly asked. “We’re breathing the same air in the same space of my room. It mentioned that this would be the perfect situation and enough reason to fall in love. So, what about now, Tooru-kun? Did you fall in love with me now?”
At first, he was quiet. He didn’t exactly know what to say because he’s never felt the feeling of falling in love. Heck, he doesn’t even know what falling in love is!
But watching your figure beside him, the sun behind you creating some sort of angel-like glow emitting from you, and the strands of your silky hair that fell out from your previous nap. It was enough to make his heart race, he knew that.
So, was it enough to make him fall in love?
Instead, he answered you with a question.
“Do you want me to fall in love with you?”
You merely shrugged, seemingly oblivious to his rapidly blushing face and the weight of those words as you continued to look at the photograph.
“I mean, it sounds scary to fall in love, you know? If it has ‘fall’ in it, it would hurt, right? I’ve fallen before but I was never able to get up without someone to help me so I don’t want to just fall in love with anyone. Mommy already fell in love with Papa so he won’t be there to catch me or to help me up. And you’re the only other person I trust to help me so…. Yes, I want you to fall in love with me so I can also fall in love with you. That way, we can trust to help each other. So fall in love with me forever, okay? I’ll do the same for you. I promise.”
It sounded good enough to the young, innocent Tooru so he agreed, promising that he will fall in love with you and just you.
Unfortunately, not only was he not able to help you up or catch you at the bottom, but he was the person who pushed you in the first place.
....
Sugawara placed a hand on your shoulder for support after he felt the intense air between you and this chocolate-haired boy. There were no words exchanged but the both of you looked each other up and down, your eyes lingering quickly on that brace on his knee. The restraint to keep the scoff in was almost unbearable but you didn’t care anymore. You wordlessly followed Sugawara back to the team and refused to look back because you were afraid of seeing that look in his eyes.
They were sad, lonely.
Kageyama rushed to help you and Sugawara with the basket of water bottles before running off to scold Hinata for taking forever in the bathroom, probably puking his guts out. You inspected the gym and quickly found old teammates, who were your past friends. These mentioned friends, Iwaizumi, Kunimi, and Kindaichi, were shocked to see you standing at their home turf and even having to do anything with volleyball.
“y/n-senpai!” Kindaichi yelled and you smiled from the sidelines before walking across to meet his run to give you a hug. He was the same tall, first year with his hugs that squeezed you tightly. You were released but you turned to Kunimi, who bashfully smiled before walking over to give you an equally tight hug.
“It’s so good to see my boys,” you hummed while ruffling their hair with great difficulty. God, they were about your height when you first met but now, they towered over your form.
“Why didn’t you ever visit us, senpai?” Kindaichi whined but you gripped his ear.
“You’re glad I didn’t visit since I heard you both planned a revolt against Tobio last year.” They guiltily looked down as if they were being scolded but you knew how Tobio was acting. He told you himself, expressing the regret with the way he treated them, and you were disappointed, sure, but both boys were in fault for this.
“We had to do something, senpai,” Kunimi quietly reasoned.
“I know you did. We can talk about that later. But you’re playing right now and you’re in different teams so do your best in this match!” You raised an encouraging fist and they both grinned.
“I’ll win this for you, senpai!” Kindaichi, the ever energetic boy, swore and ran to Iwaizumi, who ruffled his hair.
“You too, Kunimi-kun. Do your best, okay? No slacking off,” you scolded lightly with a smile. He playfully rolled his eyes.
“Okay, mom.”
When you went back to the Karasuno side, they questioned you as to how you knew them but once you explained your past in their old middle school with Tobio, they settled down, only telling you that they weren’t worried because you were their manager now.
By now, you’ve taken responsibility for the water bottles of the boys so you’ve gone back to the same place to refill them with cold water. Only to get lost.
“I swear it was right here. What the hell?” you mumbled repeatedly, getting increasingly uncomfortable with the heavy container.
As you ventured down a hallway, you were so sure you got yourself more lost but you didn’t care because you just wanted to get water. There was a serious lack of water fountains in this school making you wonder how these children were being hydrated.
You hummed a song to make yourself feel at least a bit better from being lost but as you turned a corner, you froze.
There he was, sitting on the floor and leaning against the wall with his eyes tightly shut. One would think he was sleeping but you knew he was far from it.
Tooru liked to close his eyes so he wouldn’t have any distractions as he concentrates on the techniques and moves he’d use against a team. This time it was no different so you thought you could easily walk past him without even making your presence known.
But this was Oikawa Tooru.
He was one of the sharpest and most attentive people you knew but when he opened his eyes to peak at your form in front of him, you stopped, eyes wide as if you were just caught doing something bad.
“Hi,” he whispered. You gulped before nodding his way and turning to continue walking.
“I miss your voice, y/n.” His voice was hoarse, hurt and pained, causing you to instinctively stop.
You shut your eyes in annoyance because after all these years, he still managed to control your instincts more than you yourself.
“I know…. God, I know I must not be fair right now since it was my fault for yelling at you and hurting you. But please, just say something to me, anything. Because I don’t want the last time I heard your voice to be your goodbye.”
You remained turned away so you couldn’t see the tears that were welling up in his eyes but you thought that this could be the last thing you could do for him.
“Breathing the same air, in the same space, is not enough reason to fall in love.”
Then you walked away.
He sniffled, crying for both his knee and his lost love.
His wish was never granted.
The last time he hears your voice is your final goodbye.

Mornings
Day 1: 14th August - Mornings
Roommates/College AU
AO3
Hajime properly met Sawamura Daichi on Monday morning when moving into his new dorm room.  Hajime had seen Daichi before, during a single practice match and during real matches.  He had even watched the other teen during Nationals, surrounded by his friends who had tried and worked so hard but had just fallen short.  But he had never spoken to the other teen, never exchanged a single word, and they only really knew each other with a net between them.
They exchanged uneasy smiles, neither sure how to handle the situation they had been thrust into when the only thing that existed between them was an old sense of defeat and rivalry.  Hajime was forcing himself to pull himself together, to really introduce himself and start this off on the right foot.  They might never be friends but they could at least be cordial.
Hajime felt his hand go up but he stalled when a small woman with bleached hair tumbled out of the bedroom, big fat tear drops trailing down her rather young face.  Daichi turned and gave a sigh as he stepped closer to her, letting the woman use his shirt as a human tissue.
“Mum it’s going to be alright, it’s just a four hour car ride.”  Daichi stroked the woman’s back.  She was a tiny little thing and she looked far too young to be his mother.  Daichi was shorter than Hajime, a fact he had childishly grasped onto, but he dwarfed the woman he called his mother.
“You’re abandoning me!”  The woman wailed and Hajime felt out of his depth and he wanted to leave but this was his dorm room.  He was suddenly glad he had said his goodbye to his father before he left Miyagi, had travelled on his own.  The elder Iwaizumi wasn’t given to hysterics but he was also incredibly awkward when it came to someone crying.  Luckily Hajime dealt a bit better with people crying, given his best friend since childhood was Oikawa Tooru, who was often found crying when they were younger.
“Uh oh.”  A deep voice rumbled from behind Hajime, making him jump and shift out of the way as a bear of a man covered in tattoos came into the room holding three boxes.  If Ushijima Wakatoshi stood next to that man he’d look like a child in comparison, the man was that large.  “You promised Daichi you wouldn’t do this, it was the deal of us coming with him.”  The man said as he placed the boxes near the wall before tugging the woman gently into his arms.
“I thought I was a good mother!”  The woman sobbed.
“Mum.”  Daichi glanced over at Hajime, a small apologetic smile on his face but he didn’t look embarrassed.  Hajime wondered how often a guy's mother had to break down in public for him not to be embarrassed by it.
“Why are you moving so far away if I was a good mother?”  The woman asked, sniffing loudly.
“Daichi has told you why before, come on, I’ll buy you some mochi on the way home.”  The man could have probably lifted the woman with one hand but he let her easily wiggle her way out of his arms and over to her son, hugging him tightly and shoving several bills in his pockets.  All his pockets.
“Mum stop, don’t think I didn’t see you putting money in all my bags.”  Daichi gently pried her away, grabbing the money in her hand and handing it over her head to the man.
“I just want to make sure you have everything you need and if you don’t you can buy it, we will be so very far away if you need extra money.”  She sniffled softly.  “College teams are so much larger than your high school one, what if they demand meat buns as some kind of hazing ritual?”
“My team didn’t make me buy them food.”  Daichi grinned a little before kissing her on the cheek.  “I’ll call you when I’m settled in.”
“Every night!”  The woman turned, looking surprised to find another teen in the small dorm room before she marched over to him.  “I know you!  You crushed my babies dreams, you’re from that team with the boy with the hair- what was his name?  Oh you know, the cocky one?”  Hajime forced himself not to snort at that.  Cocky was one of the better names he had heard people call Tooru.
“Dad, please.”  Daichi pleaded.  The large bear of a man grabbed hold of his wife and started pushing her out.
“I’ve got my eye on you boy!”  The woman shouted, causing several people to glance through their open door in curiosity as they passed by.
“The boy with the hair, Oikawa would love that.”  Hajime commented, feeling surprisingly lighter after the small scene.  He had been full of nervous energy before, he hadn’t slept a wink the previous night and he ended up leaving early for the train.  He felt a lot calmer now and he wondered if that’s why Daichi always appeared to have his wild card team under control with so little effort.
“He did seem fond of it.”  Daichi said hesitantly, as if unsure where their boundaries lay.  Hajime smiled a bit.
“Oh he was.”  His smile probably didn’t appear too friendly at the moment.  “The third years of my school made a promise when we were first years to cut off all our hair if we never made it nationals.”  Takahiro and Issei had great joy in reminding Tooru of that fact.
“Your hair is shorter.”  Daichi said.  Hajime and Takahiro had the least to lose.  “Wait, all of you cut your hair?”
“Yeah, I took a video of Oikawa, want to see?”  Hajime asked as he pulled out his phone, Daichi stepping close to look at the screen with interest.
It was a Monday morning when Hajime breathed a little easier, the stress of moving to a new city and to a new school where he didn’t know anyone easing away as he laughed with his new roommate at Oikawa Tooru whining loudly as his precious hair was cut off.
It was a morning, felt like a Tuesday though it could have been a Thursday, when Hajime learned Daichi couldn’t cook worth a damn.  He set off the fire alarm for the entire building and everyone had to evacuate and wait on the sidewalk at an ungodly hour.
Hajime let out a long, loud yawn as he stood with the rest of the buildings occupants.  Most people in their night clothes like himself.  Hajime watched as Daichi made his way through each small grouping of people, smiling and bowing his head a little, rubbing the back of his neck and shaking hands.  By the time they were all let back into the building after it was cleared, everyone knew Sawamura Daichi had set off the fire alarm and everyone liked him, even if he had woken them up.
“What were you trying to make at ass o’clock?”  Hajime grumbled as they walked back into their dorm.  Hajime struggled out of the hoodie he had grabbed on his way out the door.
“Breakfast, I thought it’d be nice for everyone to have something to grab on the first day of classes.”  Daichi rubbed the back of his neck once more, tanned cheeks turning red as he looked away.  Hajime looked over at the other teen and wondered if he was even real or just some grand hallucination they were all sharing brought on from stress.
“You can’t cook.”  Hajime said it as a statement, not a question.
“I was watching a video and following the instructions, don’t know how it caught on fire.”  Daichi looked away, continuing in a softer voice.  “I thought my mum was being dramatic when she said I burnt the kitchen down the last time I cooked.”
“For fucks sake.”  Hajime rubbed at his face, trying not to find anything to like about a grown ass person not being able to cook without setting fire to a building.  He definitely didn’t find Sawamura Daichi cute.  That was for damned sure.  “Come on.”
“Are you going to force our RA to give you a new roommate?”  Daichi asked, though he  followed Hajime out of their shared room.
“I should.”  Hajime never would, no matter the fact that he was bordering on a crush that he was valiantly trying to ignore.  “But I’m going to teach you to cook.”
“Really?  Thank you.”  Daichi sounded so earnest, no one would guess the sturdy looking teen next to Hajime had nearly cost them all a place to live by burning the building down the first week of them living there.
It was shared mornings spent over years together that Hajime grew to know Daichi, to help develop his infuriating crush into something so much deeper and meaningful.
It was mornings that taught Hajime how competitive Daichi truly was.  Getting up before early morning classes and even on weekends to go running with Hajime, refusing to be left behind or show that he was winded or tired in the slightest.  Hajime had seen that spark from across the court, but he enjoyed it so much more when the other man ran next to him, keeping pace and only pausing to point out dogs they saw along their run.
It was a random morning that Daichi showed up at their dorm, two smirking teens behind him that Daichi addressed as Bokuto and Kuroo.  Hajime was surprised by the easy friendship the three possessed, how different the other two seemed to Daichi who always struck Hajime as sturdy and mature.
Mornings are when Hajime discovered that Daichi was as sturdy and mature as he appeared from across the court, but he was also given to bouts of childishness and competitiveness.  He was the sort of person to depend on, the type of guy who would have no problem with a friend calling them at three in the morning to come pick them up from a park and please bring pants.
Hajime still couldn’t remember how exactly he lost his pants, just that a lot of alcohol was involved.  Daichi had shown up with pants and water, letting Hajime weave his way home and retell his drunken adventures.
Daichi was not a morning person and sometimes he pushed the snooze button until he was rushing around the dorm and stumbling over dirty clothes and forgotten textbooks to try and make it across campus to his class on time.  Hajime probably enjoyed the sleepy moments a little too much, when Daichi’s guard was down and he rested his forehead between Hajime’s shoulder blades, a soft quiet moment passing between them before Daichi forced himself into full wakefulness.
Early mornings sometimes gave to late mornings, to barely up in the mornings at all or is it still considered morning if you’ve been awake all night?
It continued through their first year, where the foundation of a friendship was built.  They built upon that through shared mornings in their second year and all the way to graduation when something shifted between them.
When waking up in separate beds became waking up next to each other on the couch, moved slowly to a drunken night sharing Hajime’s bed because a visiting Sugawara Koushi had overtaken Daichi’s.  Early morning jobs turned into Hajime pressing close to the solid warmth that Daichi provided, running a careful hand down a solid back to slowly wake the other man up.
Their days were spent in separate classes, shared with friends and other classmates, sometimes their fellow teammates.  Nights were spent cramming as much information as they could into exhausted brains, drinking with Koutarou and Tetsurou, listening to Tooru recount how he was trying to keep his hatred alive for Ushijima, even as they continued to work well together.
But mornings were for Hajime and Daichi.  Sometimes they were hungover, which happened less the older they got, more often they were just exhausted as late night cram sessions turned into bringing home work from their jobs.  But mornings were the two of them curled up in bed together, enjoying the shared space, the small intimacy of merely being together.
Mornings were more often spent pressing the snooze button than jogging together, until they adopted a dog then it was spent taking him on early walks while Daichi continually reassured him that he was the best thing to ever exist, the dog listening with perked ears and a wagging tail.
Mornings were how Hajime fell in love with Sawamura Daichi, how the other man fell for him.  They meant everything to Hajime and he’d never give them up, not a single one.
