Now What if what came back was just off. Looks at the divine without the memories that went back decades. It looks, behaves and works in a way just off enough in a way to make the god unable to look at it. it's not you. it's not. it can't be.

.... but what if what got pulled back was still you, but its- YOU'RE wrong and broken in ways you cant understand anymore.

The apocalypse draws closer and closer and you don't know why every day that passes you seem to be falling more and more apart too. The god is gone. You are alone.

Darkness.

For a moment, everything is calm. For a moment, before consciousness, before the start of the end, there's peace.

And then Soul wakes up.

He jolts up with a start, drenched in sweat, like he's just woken from a bad nightmare. Quite the opposite. It's awoken from a beautiful dream, one of harmony and warmth and comfort, thrust back into the nightmare it has every night.

It's not night. Sunlight pours through the windows, as if to mock him for thinking he could find comfort in the idea of dreams and fantasy. Like the day and the night, like the changing of seasons, everything always comes back to the start of the cycle.

It sighs and runs fingers through frizzy hair. It's not like there's much Soul can do about it. He forces himself to stand up, looking around their empty living room. Heart will be in their room, same as ever, Mind will be at his desk, same as—

…The room isn't empty.

Lying on the ground at his feet is an unconscious person. Curled up on the carpet, dressed in a hoodie and jeans so ripped that they barely qualify as clothing anymore. Hidden under a mess of curly hair is a face Soul has only seen in two places: Its reflection, and the in-betweens of the cycle.

Love that toya is rehabilitating the two most mischievous jokesters in the game (Rui & Mizuki) simply by being really naive but also really really genuine and kind. He’s easy to trick but he’s so earnest and happy to talk to them that it would make them feel bad. They have to be nice and kind back. Toya Aoyagi and his aura that forces everyone to be friendly.

I think I might have missed a post or something so sorry if like a billion people asked this before but what happened to Thespius? Did he just up and leave or did the grief eat him up?

I tag all of my posts on LaL au under the tag (#ggg Love and loss au), so if you worry you may have missed something you can always check with that tag on my blog! Though in this case you haven't missed anything! I purposefully kept it vague On exactly what happened with Thespius since in the Au nobody really knows what happened to him. The gods stopped seeing him right after Cliff's death because he shut himself inside his own realm and refused anyone entry; and Cliff never went to investigate where Thespius went when he disappeared because he assumed he upset the god. Only a week after Cliff last saw him is when Huzzle is finally able to enter Thespius's realm to investigate, finding the revived human.

Though I'll let you in on a secret. He never left.

Grief and guilt didn't just eat him up. It swallowed him whole.
