So…it’s heropartner week. As I scrolled through Tumblr and looked through all of the art made by all of these amazing artists, I couldn’t help but feel a bit sad that I wouldn’t be able to participate…because, well, I can’t draw to save my life. But, I realized I could contribute in another way! While it’s technically not related to heropartner week, it’s still PMD related, so I figured today would be the perfect time to post it.
So, yeah…I made another story. I’ll be writing this along with Lingering Shadows, so now I’ve got two stories to manage! (Oh, dear.) But just like with LS, if you’re interested in it, go ahead and give this first part a read. And with that, I’ll be heading out. Have a good rest of your day! :)
Part 0: The Wandering Eevee
“The two Dragon-Type Pokémon slowly made their way towards each other, their eyes filled with animosity and malice towards the other. Dragonite, who had to go through countless battles and obstacles to get to this point, was determined to bring peace back to the land that he loved with every fiber of his being and end the tyrannical Hydreigon's rule. He was determined to protect the ones he cared about from any more pain and misfortune. He was determined to achieve his lifelong goal and end the suffering that the Pokémon in front of him had caused. The Pokémon who helped him get this far - his teammates and friends, the ones whom he had fought alongside on his arduous journey - were just outside the fortress, dealing with Hydreigon's lackeys. He took in a deep breath and exhaled. He couldn't lose here. They've come too far to lose now! He represented the world's wish for a brighter tomorrow. For the sake of his friends and his allies, his family, and all of the Pokémon who wish to live peacefully, he had to win and fulfill everyone's dreams!"
"Hydreigon, however, was determined too. He was determined to end the one Pokémon who posed a threat to his ambitious plans and take complete control of this world. He wanted power - power to bend others to his will, power that would make others fear and grovel before him, power that would surpass even that of the Legendary Pokémon. Concepts like friendship, trust, and love meant absolutely nothing to him. No Pokémon bothered to ever give him any of those things in the past. Bullied and mocked as a small Deino, only to become shunned and outcasted once he evolved into Zwellious...his life up to this point has been filled with nothing but cruelty and loneliness. No one had ever treated him with even an ounce of kindness or respect. So why...why should the world that had treated him so terribly be spared from his rage?! As he was moving forward, he furrowed his brow and glared daggers at the Dragonite before him. He wanted nothing more than for him to die a horrible, painful death by his hand. This goody two-shoes bastard who was willing to risk his life and go through so much in order to protect the very world that he despised...To him, he represented the world's last attempt to rob him of any meaning in his life. He was the potential savior of the all the Pokémon in the land, even the ones that mistreated him so badly. Just looking at this irritating piece of FILTH was enough to make his blood boil...! He won't allow it. He won't allow the world to mistreat him yet again. He won't allow this BASTARD to ruin everything he had worked for up to now! He won't allow him to take his twisted dream away from him!!"
"After a few more seconds, the two began to move faster and faster until they were eventually moving at full speed. Both Pokémon glided closer to each other with their wings, preparing to engage in the battle that would determine the fate of everyone. As he was gliding, Dragonite became enveloped in a velvety essence, power coursing through his body as he was planning to ram Hydreigon with a powerful Dragon Rush. Hydreigon, on the other hand, had a massive form of energy forming in his mouth. He was going to let out a devastating Dragon Pulse, and he had it aimed straight at Dragonite's head. Despite this, Dragonite remained unfazed and kept charging at full speed. Just as they were mere inches away from each other, they both released both of their attacks at once, causing-"
*BANG BANG BANG*
"Wha-?"
"Hey, kid! Are you in there?! You've been holed up in that room since last night! It's almost noon! You were supposed to be outta here by 8 o'clock!"
"..."
...Wait, did he say it was almost noon? I could have sworn that I've only been reading this for a couple of hours. Damn...I guess I lost track of time. I didn't even get a chance to get some sleep. Ah, whatever.
With a disappointed sigh, I closed my book and put it in the satchel I was wearing. Then I hopped off of the room's bed and made my way towards the door. Once I was in front of it, I took my paw, put it on the knob, and turned it to the right. However, just as I was about to pull the door back, I was caught off guard when the innkeeper suddenly barged into the room. I quickly stood back as his sludge-like figure entered, stinking up the room and making my nose involuntarily twitch in the process. After looking around the room for a bit, he turned to me with an annoyed expression on his face.
"Hmph. At least you managed to keep the room clean. Still, I don't exactly appreciate you staying here four hours later than when you were supposed to leave," the Muk said.
"...Sorry about that. I didn't notice how much time had passed," I replied.
The innkeeper gave me an incredulous expression. "What...? How could you have not noticed that?! What the hell were you doing this entire time?!"
I looked at him for a moment, then casually gestured towards my bag.
"Reading," I said simply.
"...What?"
"Reading," I repeated. "Final installment of Team Dragonfang. I'm nearly at the end of the book, you know. Dragonite and Hydreigon are just about to square off against each other. The whole story's been leading up to this. The heroic Dragonite's going to free everyone from the tyrannical Hydreigon's rule and restore peace to-"
The innkeeper cut me off. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Unless you got the Poké to spend another night here, please get outta my inn and find another place to read your stupid book. There are other Pokémon who might need to use this room," he said while pointing toward the exit.
"...Yes, sir. Sorry for causing trouble."
I bowed my head slightly and started to walk towards the door. However, before I could walk out the door, I heard Muk mutter something under his breath as I walked by him.
"Hmph, all these damned kids traveling on their own now...What the in the world are their parents thinking, letting them do something like that?"
"..."
I stopped and slowly glared back at him, which instantly caught his attention. He furrowed his brow and crossed his arms.
"Hmm?  You got something you wanna say, boy?" he asked.
...
...
...
...Tch.
I shook my head. "No, sir. It's nothing. Have a nice day."
And with that, I exited the room and walked down the hallway of this dirty, rundown excuse of an inn. I did my best not to step on any of the loose floorboards and avoid getting hit by the water dripping from the ceiling. Eventually, I had entered the lobby, where a small number of Pokémon were impatiently waiting near the reception desk.  When they noticed that I was coming from the hallway, they all glanced at me.  I ignored their stares and casually walked out of the inn.  I kept walking for a few more seconds before I knew for certain that I was out of earshot.  Then I furrowed my brow and let out a small growl.
"...Asshole," I snarled.
Seriously, how the hell is someone like that still running an inn?  If you can even call that crappy place an inn...I honestly feel bad for all of those Pokémon in there.  They don't even realize that they're getting ripped off...
...
Oh, well.
I sighed and shook my head.  There's no point in dwelling on it now.  I got through the night, that's all that matters.  I don't ever have to come here and deal with that jerk ever again.  Though, with that being said...
"Alright, where to now...?"
To be honest, I didn't think that far ahead.  I was so focused on finding a place to sleep that I didn't think about where I'd go afterwards.
"Hmm, let's see here..."
I reached into my satchel and pulled out my Wonder Map.  I took a good look at it, noting where I was and what other areas were nearby.  If I was lucky, I'd find some small town that I could visit for a day or two to get some food and a DECENT place to rest my head.
"Uh, I'm right here, so that would mean that...Oh!"
I focused on one particular part of the map that showed a rather large city near here.  My eyes widened in wonder as I realized what I was looking at.
"Wait, this is...no way.  I can't believe it.  This is...!"
I blinked twice and did a double take, looking at the same spot on the map once more.  When I confirmed that this was indeed the place that I initially thought it was, a small grin appeared on my face.
"It really is!  This is Hoshi Town!"
Ah, yes.  The infamous Hoshi Town.  The biggest city here on the Grass Continent.  I've heard a lot about it while I've been traveling, but I never thought I'd actually be so close to it!
Jeez...I need to start paying more attention to where the hell I am.  I can't believe I didn't realize it sooner...
Anyway, like I said before, Hoshi Town is the Grass Continent's biggest city.  Known by many as "The City of Dreams", this place is constantly active, even in the wee hours of the night.  It has so much going for it - I mean, there's just so much to do there.  There are tons of different shops there for Pokémon who enjoy shopping, a variety of activities to participate in, loads of different eateries and restaurants...it's got it all!  And of course, it's the main base of operations for-
*growl*
"...Eh?"
I quickly looked down at the source of the growling noise and awkwardly cleared my throat.  Oh...right.  I haven't eaten anything since yesterday afternoon, have I?  I, uh...I should probably fix that.
I put my map back in my bag and looked around, pondering what I should do now.  Well, since I know that Hoshi Town is the closest city here, the safest bet would be to head to there and find a place to eat.  But even though I should be close to it, it's still gonna take a while to actually get to the city.  And even if I could get there sooner, I'm sure the eateries in that city are expensive.  I've spent the last of my Poké spending the night in that dump, so I'm kinda broke at the moment.  Ugh...I guess I have no choice.  It looks like I'll have to do some foraging before I hit the road again.
I quietly sighed and looked around for a tree or bush that contained some fruit.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to spot anything right away, causing me to let out a groan.  What a pain...looks like I'll have to actively walk around and search for one.
Slightly annoyed that I had to go to so much trouble to get a meal, I picked a random direction and just started walking.  The inn that I was staying in was surrounded by a lot of greenery, so hopefully it wouldn't be too difficult to find something.  I mean, at least one of these trees or bushes should have berries in them, right?
*SOME TIME LATER...*
...
...
...
"Argh, what in the hell...?"
Okay, this is getting ridiculous.  I've spent 40 minutes looking around and I have yet to encounter anything even remotely edible.  What in the world is going on?  So many trees here, and not a single one has any fruit in them?
*grumble*
"...!"
I looked down at my stomach and furrowed my brow.
"Oh, shut up, you.  There's no need remind me that I'm basically starving here."
Dammit...At this rate, I might as well bite the bullet and just head towards Hoshi Town.  But even if I do that, there's still the matter of me having no money.  Argh, for Arceus's sake, what in the world am I gonna do...?
"Stop it!  Leave me alone!"
"...?"
What the...?  What was that?  It sounded like someone shouting.  But that can't be right.  Why would someone else be here in the middle of the forest?
"I said leave me alone, you punks!"
"!"
Oh, shoot...No, that was definitely a Pokémon.  And judging from what they're saying, it sounds like they're in some hot water at the moment.  Crap, this isn't good...
My ears perked up as I tried to listen to where the commotion was coming from.  It took a moment, but I managed to track it down deeper into the bundle of trees and bushes.  The instant I knew where they were, I hurriedly dashed on over.  When I got there, I was greeted by a not-so-savory sight - A Houndour and a Pawniard harassing a Minccino.  They had cornered her into one of the many trees in this area, and were only inches away from her.  The Pawniard had his blade-like arm up against her face, leaving her trapped in place.
"You pathetic crooks!  How many times do I have to repeat myself before you go away?!" the Minccino shouted, attempting to act unfazed.
The Houndour gave her a low growl.  "I don't think you're in any position to talk to us like that, girlie," he said.
The Pawniard looked at his companion and shook his head.  "Now, now.  There's no need for that.  I mean, take a look.  You're frightening the poor girl with your vulgar words," he said.
Houndour rolled his eyes.  "I'M frightening her?  You're the one with you're blade up against her face, dumbass."
Pawniard ignored him and faced the Minccino once more.  "I apologize for my friend's rudeness.  I'm afraid he isn't one for subtlety," he said.
Minccino furrowed her brow and struck Pawniard's face with her paw, causing him to yelp in surprise.  However, before she could escape, the Houndour let out a small Ember from his mouth and aimed it close to Minccino's foot, causing her to shriek and freeze in place.
"Not so fast, you annoying little runt!  We ain't done with ya!" he shouted.
The Pawniard, having recovered from the shock of the slap, gave her a menacing glare.  "Indeed.  There is something we need you to do for us," he said.
Minccino, who was starting to lose her composure, looked away from them and spoke once more.  "I-if you keep this up, I'm gonna..." she said before being cut off by Houndour.
"You're gonna do what?  Fight us?  Do you really think you can beat the two of us, ya little brat?!" he said with a mocking laugh.
The Minccino remained silent, still looking away from the pair.
"Come now, you two.  There's no need for violence," Pawniard said.  "All we require from you is all of your Poké and belongings.  Hand them over, and we'll let you go."
"B-but...I need this money for my little brother," she said, tears starting to form in her eyes.
"Respectfully, little lady...I fail to see how that's our problem," Pawniard said in a dark tone.
"Y-you heartless scumbags..." she spat out.
Houndour looked at her with a twisted grin on his face.  "Trust us, your brother will be the least of your concerns if you don't fork over everything you have!"
"Nngh..."
...Hmph.
Before the two could do anything else, I stepped out of the shadows and made myself known by clearing my throat.  Houndour and Pawniard turned around while Minccino looked up at me in confusion.
"Uh, hello there!" I said while casually waving my paw.  "I was just passing by, and I couldn't help but notice all three of you hanging out right here.  I apologize for being so curious, but what in the world are you all doing out here in a place like this?  I mean, you're all out here in such a secluded area...if anything were to happen to you, there would be no one to help out, you know?  Oh...but I guess I'm in the same boat as you three, huh?"
The duo initially looked at me as though I had lost my mind, but then their bewildered expressions were quickly replaced with intimidating glares.
"Hmph.  Unless you wish to end up like our friend here, I suggest you walk away right now," Pawniard said.
"Yeah!  It don't matter if you're just a kid!  We'll rob ya blind if you get outta here right now!" he said.
I feigned shock at their statements and gasped.  "W-wait, rob?  That's what you're doing out here?  Oh, geez, there's no need for that.  Why don't you just let her go and go on about your day, huh?  There's no need to threaten other Pokémon like this-"
Houndour cut me off.  "What, so you're volunteering to take her place?" he asked.
I shook my head.  "Oh, me?  Goodness, no!  I'm completely broke!  You wouldn't gain anything from mugging me!" I said with a slight chuckle.
Pawniard, who was starting to get irritated, completely shifted his attention from Minccino to me.  "Then leave.  If you stay here, then I'm afraid we'll have no choice but to make an example of you," he said.
Houndour nodded.  "You heard him, kid!  Get out of here or we'll have no choice but to beat you to a pulp!" he said.
Tch, seriously?  These guys are willing to mug a girl like that and beat on me?  They really are a couple of scumbags...
Despite feeling pretty disgusted with these asswipes, I decided to keep up my little charade.
"Huh?  Y-you're gonna fight me?  Seriously?" I asked.
"Deadly serious, kid," Pawniard replied.  "Which is why I suggest that you leave right now.  This is your last chance."
I looked down, pretending to contemplate the choice that they gave me.  Leave or fight, leave or fight?  Hmm, what to do...
"Nah, I think I'll stay."
The two looked at me with furrowed brows.
"...What?" Houndour said.
"I mean, I can't just walk away knowing that this poor girl's gonna get mugged, right?  So fighting's the only choice I have...riiiight?" I asked with a crap-eating grin.
Houndour looked at Pawniard with an annoyed expression.  "Tch, this brat's really pissing me off..."
Pawniard nodded in agreement and spoke to me again.  "You're not the brightest Eevee, are you?  Do you seriously intend to take on the both of us at once?" he asked.
I nodded.  "Yup!  I gotta warn you right now, though...I can handle myself in a fight!  I'd like to think that I'm pretty darn strong, soooo if you wanna back out now and run, now's your chance," I said with an innocent smile.
The two Pokémon both turned to look at each other, then burst out laughing.
"Gyahahahahaha!  Did you really just say that?!" Houndour asked.
Pawniard's laugh turned into a simple chuckle.  "Oh, how amusing.  You really think you can beat us two, who have been through more battles than we care to count?" he asked.
I nodded again.  "Totally!  I've been through my fair share of battles, too!  I should be more than a match for you two," I said confidently.
Houndour gave me a mocking smirk.  "Heh, fine then.  If you really wanna fight us, then go right ahead," he said as fire began to appear in his mouth.  "Just don't blame us...when we tear you to pieces!!"
After shouting out that last comment, Houndour suddenly ran towards me.  He opened up his mouth wide enough to show his fangs, which were covered in the fire from before.  He was trying to attack me with Fire Fang, huh?  Typical.
Just as he was about to make contact with me, I swiftly dodged his attack at the very last second.  Before he could even process that he had missed, I struck him in the blink of an eye with Quick Attack, causing him to be knocked back a good distance away from me and the other two.
"What?!" Pawniard shouted, witnessing what just played out.
The Minccino stared in awe as she saw Houndour on the ground, reeling from my attack.  Then she turned to Pawniard, who reacted to what happened with widened eyes.  However, his shock quickly turned into irritation as he glared daggers at me.
"You annoying little pest...!"
He lunged at with his blade-like limbs positioned in front of his body in an "X" shape, indicating that he was about to use them to cut me.  If those things landed, it would end up doing a serious amount of damage.  Unfortunately for him, though, he happened to be way too slow for me, since I ended up evading him just like I did with his little pal earlier.  However, he must have known that I would have tried to dodge again, because he quickly tried to strike at where I ended up going to.  Surprised by his sudden action, I jumped backwards, avoiding his second strike in the nick of time.
"Heh, not bad!  Almost got a hit on me there, bud!" I said with the same arrogant smile from earlier.
The Pawniard angrily growled at me, clearly fed up with my cocky attitude.  "What the hell is with you?!" he asked.
I shrugged.  "I told you before, didn't I?  I can handle myself in a fight.  I tried to warn you guys, but, well, I guess you didn't wanna listen."
"Shut your mouth!" Pawniard snapped back.  "Who the hell do you think you are?!  You think you're better than us?!" he asked.
...
...
...
"...Uh, yeah?" I replied blunty.  "I mean, you two dumbasses went and decided to go and mug an kid.  Even when she told you about how she needed that money for her little brother, you were still gonna go through with your piss-poor plan.  I admit, I've done plenty of things I'm not proud of, but even a piece of trash like me wouldn't stoop to messing with innocent Pokémon."  Without realizing it, I furrowed my brow and gave him a deathly glare.  "Seriously, it's Pokémon like you..." I said in a much darker tone, "...who piss me off to no end."
Pawniard, taking notice of my sudden shift in attitude and the way I was glaring at him, took a step back.  He stared back at me, a mixture of anger, confusion, and fear in his eyes.  The two of us looked at each other for what felt like an eternity.  Finally, he charged at me once more, this time with a dark energy around his blades.  ...Ah, he's going for Night Slash now, is he?  Fine.  I'm done playing around with these two, so I'll end it here.  But, I don't have any attacks that'll finish him off instantly.  Agh, damn him and his Steel-Typing...oh well.  I guess it can't be helped now.
In one quick motion, I swiftly pulled out a Blast Seed from my bag and placed it in my mouth.  When he was inches away from me and about to unleash his move, I bit into the seed, causing it to combust.  What followed shortly after was a small explosion that ended up blowing Pawniard away.  He ended up getting knocked into a tree, which resulted in him taking even more damage.  After making contact with the tree and landing on the ground, he just lied there, completely motionless.  A few more seconds had passed, and he was still lying there.  I think it was safe to say that he was knocked unconscious.  I kept my gaze fixed on him, my eyes filled with disgust and bitterness.
"...Hmph."
After staring at him for a little while longer, I turned around and noticed that the Houndour from earlier had recovered from my Quick Attack.  Though, rather than trying to attack me again, he just looked at me with fearful eyes.  It seemed as though he watched the battle between me and his friend...and heard what I said to him right before I knocked him out.  I turned to him, completely done with my "oblivious passerby" act.  I furrowed my brow at him, and with a slightly irritated tone, I spoke.
"...Do you really wanna do this?  Take a look at your friend and ask yourself if a few Poké is worth going up against me."
Houndour looked at Pawniard for a brief moment, then back at me.  Then he whimpered and slowly backed away until it looked as though he was about to make a mad dash outta there.  However, before he could, I shouted at him to stop.
"Hold it!"
He froze, then slowly turned back to me.  "Y-yeah?"
"Your items and Poké.  Hand them over," I said coldly.
His eyes widened in surprise.  "Wha...?  You can't be serious right now-"
"Does it LOOK like I'm joking, asswipe?!  Your belongings, hand them over - NOW!"
Houndour flinched at my shouting and quickly emptied his bag.  Once I took a moment to look at the contents, I nodded.
"Hmph.  Maybe this'll teach you to not to rob other Pokémon," I said as I stuffed all of his things in my bag.
Houndour looked down in utter defeat, similar to how a child looks away from their parents when they're scolding them.  "Alright, that's it, right?  I can go now?
I shook my head.  "No.  There's one more thing I need to do."
Houndour furrowed his brow in frustration.  "Seriously?  What more do you-"
Before he could finish his sentence, I struck his face with my paw with as much force as I could muster.  He stumbled back from the hit, dazed and surprised, and just stared at me with widened eyes until he slumped over and fell to the ground, losing consciousness.  I looked at him with the same expression I gave Pawniard, then snarled.
"...That's for trying to abandon your partner, you spineless bastard."
As scummy as these two were, I at least figured that they would have each other's backs.  But the moment things took a turn for the worse, he was ready to hightail it outta here and ditch Pawniard.  Tch, I shouldn't be disappointed since they've already shown how horrible they are, but still...
"U-um..."
"...Hmm?"
I looked to my right and saw Minccino staring at me.  I took a few seconds to calm myself down and take a deep breath before approaching her.  However, as soon as I tried to, she took a few steps back.  My eyes widened slightly in surprise, wondering why she seemed afraid of me.  Then I remembered how I was just acting and what I just did.  Tch, damn it.  This always happens when I'm dealing with punks like Pawniard and Houndour.  I end up getting so upset and end up going overboard with the way I handle things.  I need to learn to keep my temper in check...
"...I'm sorry.  I didn't mean to lose my cool like that," I said in a softer tone.
"..."
"The bad dudes have been dealt with, so you're safe now.  There's no need to be afraid anymore..."
"..."
"S-seriously, everything's all cool now!  So please stop making that face..." I said pleadingly.
"..."
Taking a few more seconds to stare at me, she sighed and slowly walked towards me.  When she got close enough, she stopped and muttered something.
"Um...t-thank...you..."
I looked at her in confusion.  "Uh, sorry.  What did you say?" I asked.
The Minccino looked down in embarrassment.  "Tch, I said thank you, you dummy."
"...!"
Insult aside, her gratitude honestly caught me off guard.  I wasn't expecting her to actually thank me.  All I could do in response was give an awkward smile.  "O-oh, yeah.  No problem."
After that, I started looking around, doing my best not to stare at her for too long.  "Alright then, um...do you need me to escort you outta here?  I mean, I wouldn't want something like this to happen again, you know?"
Minccino  frowned at me, then scoffed.  "Hmph, please.  Do you really think I'm that helpless?" she asked.
Aaaand it looks like that sass from earlier is coming back.
I quickly shook my head.  "What?  N-no, I just want to make sure your safe-"
"I can take care of myself, you know," she said.
I shook my head.  "L-look, I'm sure you can.  But I'd feel a lot better if you let me take you back to wherever you came from.  That is, assuming you're done with whatever you were doing here.  If you still have some business in this forest, then I can accompany you until you're done.  If I left and something else happened to you, I'd feel super guilty.  So could I come with you?  Please?" I asked.
Minccino paused for a moment.  She looked at my eyes, tried to read them, pondered what exactly was going through my head.  After a few more seconds of silence, she sighed.
"Uuuugh...fine."
I looked at her and gave her another smile, causing her to furrow her brow in annoyance.
"Tch, don't smile at me like that.  I'm only letting you come with me because you were practically begging, not 'cause I need some sort of white knight to protect me," she explained.
I shrugged.  "Eh, fair enough."
She rolled her eyes, then gathered her belongings.  "Anyway, I am done with what I was doing in the forest, so if you're ready, we can get going," she said.
I looked at her curiously.  "And where are we going, exactly?"
"To Hoshi Town.  I live there," she replied.
...
...Oh.  Well this just works out nicely now, doesn't it?
I gave a coy smirk and nodded.  "Well alright, then.  Let's get going," I said as I walked next to her.  She looked me one last time before sighing and walking ahead.  I eagerly followed her, excited that I really was on my way to Hoshi Town, of all places.  Thankfully, the food problem I was trying to solve was no longer an issue.  When I had Houndour empty out his bag, he had all sorts of goodies in there, so I was good to go on that end.  And with the Poké that he had, I could spend more than a few nights sleeping wherever.  Hehehehe, this is gonna be so great!
"...Hey."
I was suddenly pulled out of my thoughts by Minccino, who had turned to face me.  "Hmm?  What's up?"
"Now that the adrenaline from earlier is starting to wear off, I gotta ask - who even are you?  I mean, you look like you're around my age, but I've never seen you in Hoshi Town.  I mean, the place is massive, so it's possible that I might have just missed you or something.  You were able to take on those two crooks, though...are you an explorer or something?" she asked.
...
When I didn't immediately answer, Minccino looked down.  "Uh...Sorry if that came across as rude.  I was just curious, that's all," she said.
"JoJo."
She looked back up.  "...Huh?"
"I'm JoJo The Wanderer.  I'm just an Eevee who happens to enjoy traveling from place-to-place.  Nice to meet you," I said with a wide grin.
Minccino gave me a small smile, then spoke again.  "Hmph...Riley.  Nice to meet you, too."
And with that, Riley and I began the small journey to the infamous Hoshi Town.  You know, when I saw the massive city on my map, I was expecting to visit the place for only a few days and then hit the road again.  But, as it would turn out, fate had other plans.  Hoshi Town would turn out to be much more than a well-known tourist spot for me.  And I would end up meeting another Pokémon who would offer me the thing that I've been searching for this entire time.
