omg thank you so much! honestly if anyone feels like writing a reaction fic for âheroicsâ (or âprince of heroesâ) i would love to see it!
So in your opinion what MHA fic deserves a reaction fic?
HmmmmâŚ
@thenarator deserves at least one reaction fic if they want one. âHeroics and other Things that Donât Require Superpowersâ would be fun for a canon reacts or even a âthey see the futureâ thing.
Paper Agency or the New Normal by thefeelswhale on AO3 to.
YESTERDAY UPON THE STAIRS. There is one but it hasnât been updated and URGH I WANT MORE.
Also if I could be selfish Iâd die of happiness for a reaction fic to Mission: Woo Izuku series.

hi lovely ! you asked for kny requests and i've just finished my kny volume 22 re-read, so thats perfect timing đ
I was wondering if you could write something with Yoriichi â (tw for potential child loss)
Maybe a hurt/comfort fic where his pregnant wife actually survives the demon attack while he's away (but maybe she gets quite badly injured and their unborn child doesn't make it, if you want to add a little extra angst to it. If not then that's totally fine, this man deserves a happy ending after all đĽş)
Of course, you're the writer â feel free to take any creative direction you'd like or ignore this request if you're not comfortable with it. Have a lovely day/night! <3
Again, I'm beyond sorry you were forced to wait for this so long! But here you go honey, let me know what you think <3
Yoriichi saving his pregnant wife and unborn child just in time
Pairing: Yoriichi x pregnant!wife!reader
Word Count: 4,2k
Synopsis: You never expected to face a demon ever again, especially not when you are about to deliver your child while your beloved husband Yoriichi is in search for a midwife. Will you and your child be alright? Will your husband make it back on time?
Warnings: injury, horror, child birth, tortue, description of death, extreme angst to fluff, last part is not proofread
Notes: Since the first Yoriichi fic I wrote, I'm so deeply in love with his character that I adore writing him so much! Since this fic took a while, I would totally appreciate your support through liking, commenting and reblogging this fic - thank's a lot babes <3
He canât get enough from simply looking at you. You with your head in the clouds, you with your hand mindlessly roaming around the soft grass underneath, the other one caressing your heavy pregnant belly, you when you give him those surprised eyes as soon as you notice his presence.
âOh, I wasnât aware that youâre already hereâ, you say in a small panicky voice.
You didnât expect your beloved husband back this soon. If you would have known that heâll be here by know you would have cleaned the whole house, made him something to eat and-
âI can only imagine what is going on inside your head again.â
His soft but at the same time rough hand touches your cheek gently, the loving gleam in his fuchsia eyes making you blush in an instant. All the voices in your head stop right in their track when heâs around.
Yoriichi Tsugikuni. Your savior, your best friend. And most importantly, your husband and father of your future child.
âHow are you feeling, love? Did you enjoy your afternoon?â, he questions, eyes wandering down your body to your swollen belly.
It was hard leaving you alone in a state like this, but he wasnât able to resist the urgent call from last night. He might be nothing but another simple man holding a sword, but it is his responsibility to save those who are in need. What else is he able to give to this world?
His hand lands on your belly, feels the tiniest kick of his unborn child against the palm of his hand. At least he was able to create a smaller version of you. Is it a boy, a girl maybe?
âI hope our child is a reflection of youâ, he finally mutters into the silence, a small but somehow sad smile forming itself on his lips.
You suddenly forget how to breathe, glossy eyes fixated on his captivating sight. Oh, oh much you hate the stinging fact that your husband thinks so negatively about himself. Why canât he see all the heroic things he has done so far, how respected he is in the demon slayer corps? Why canât he see that every inch of his body is flawless? Out of instinct, you let your head rest against his broad chest, breathe in his strong scent. If you could only stay like this here forever, his hand resting against your body while the sun tickles your skin-
A violent moan escapes your lips when a sharp pain runs through your stomach. A kick. A really rough kick, to be exact.
âAre you alright, love? Did something hurt you? Is it the baby?â, your husband asks feverishly, his usual neutral face garbled by worry lines on his forehead.
âJust a kickâ, you press out, still fighting to regain your composure.
âI will search for a mid-wife, (y/n).â
His words make your eyes widen in an instant, a wave of fear crushing down on you. Is it really time already? You look down at your swollen belly, so big that you arenât even able to sit down properly anymore. This has to be the ninth month of your pregnancy.
Your heart sinks. The ninth month. If the books youâve read are accurate, it really is time.
âI canât do this, Yoriichi.â
Thick panic runs through your veins, forces your heart almost out of your chest. You arenât ready to deliver a child, let alone to be a mother. All the things you havenât read yet, the things youâve probably never heard ofâŚWhat if you mess it up? Until you met Yoriichi, all you were able to do was trying to survive. Your mother never had the chance to tell you about those things, isnât here anymore to stay by your side.
You areâŚon your own.
âLook at me, (y/n). I will go out and search for a mid-wife and Iâll be back at sunset, you hear me? Just stay inside the house and nothing will happen. I promise to return as early as possible.â
Fuchsia eyes that radiate through your soul immediately. An angelic voice that calms down your tingling nerves with only four sentences. Strong arms that lift you off the ground and lead you back into the warmth of your home.
But know, itâs not the wooden cabin that feels like home. Your eyes wander to the neutral expression he wears on his face, only betrayed by a worried glow in his orbs. Itâs him, your beloved husband.
âAre you feeling alright, love?â
You take a deep breath in, a deep breath out. Eyes focused exclusively on him until your mind finally silences. Itâs just you and him. You and your beloved husband, the man you would trust with your life without battling an eyelid, the man who made you the person you are today.
âI doâ, you breathe out.
Your heartbeat tames down as well as the kicks of your unborn baby, Yoriichiâs hands keeping you from falling over.
âPromise me to lock the doors and wait in bed until I return, (y/n).â
A seriousness you only know from him when he is forced to leave at night veils his calm eyes.
âButâŚyou will be back before the sun sinks, right?â
He gifts you a small smile, hand caressing your cheek so gently that you almost forget about the worry lines decorating his face. The truth is that the next midwife lives miles away. Even if he gets to the village as soon as possible, the sun will be about to set when he returns. Yoriichi canât help but clench his other hand into a fist next to your stomach. The sheer thought of not making it in time, that youâll be defenceless.
âDonât worry, love. Rest your eyes and be assured that Iâll return as soon as possible.â
But he cannot allow himself to fail you, to leave you alone in those oh so merciless nights. He will return, no matter what it costs.
He presses a soft kiss against your forehead before grabbing his sword tightly.
This. This is his fate, his family. You are his whole life.
And heâll do everything to protect you.
-later that evening-
You are exhausted. Over the last few hours, your body was haunted by waves of pain coming and going like the seasons. Again, you dig your nail into the wooden floor, your heavy breaths hanging in the thick air. You definitely donât need a midwife to tell you itâs time. Yes, your baby is on its way.
And your husband didnât return yet.
Your glossy eyes dart towards the window, witness how the sky outside turns bright red in the down-going sun. Is Yoriichi alright? You know how cruel life can be. Maybe he met a person who needed to be saved on his way, maybe the midwife is too old to rush to your side in time.
âRest your eyes and be assured that Iâll return as soon as possible.â
Those words. Even though heâs not yet by your side, you are able to feel his powerful presence around you, how he calms down your aching heart.
âEverything will turn out alrightâ, you mutter to yourself while caressing your tummy.
âEverything will be alightâŚâ
You allow your lids to rest, body relaxing for the first time since your husband left. You will get through this, you will deliver your wonderful child tonight. A tiny bundle of joy, an image of its father. Is it a boy, a girl? As long as your child is healthy, you couldnât care less.
Carefully, you curl up on your futon, snuggle yourself into the blanket that still holds his scent. Maybe youâll be able to catch a few hours of sleep until he finally comes back. Sleep sure does sound very appealing at the moment.
But just when your breath begins to steady, a violent scratch forces you to sit straight up. It came from outside, without a doubt. Is it an animal, is itâŚ
Your throat gets tight immediately, glossy eyes staring at the closed window in sheer horror. The trees bend back and forth peacefully in what looks like a tender night. But that scratch, it sounded exactly like claws digging into hard wood, sent shivers down your spine immediately. You know that sound all too well, experienced what it means to get slaughtered by a demon before. Just before your whole family died violently, this was exactly what youâve heard.
Out of instinct, you bury yourself into the corner of the room, the blanket that holds Yoriichiâs scent still pressed against your now shivering body tightly. Please, let it be nothing but a wild animal, let your husband come back home soon. Maybe this is nothing but a nightmare and youâll wake up any given minute-
A violent pain runs through your body so suddenly that a shriek escapes your lips. Suddenly all air escapes your lungs, the way your belly cramps making you see start. No, you know exactly what this means, that this is not the right time to deliver a baby. Isnât there anything you can do to stop this? You still need to wait for your husband, the midwife, for this gut-turning feeling to vanish. Your breath gets stuck in your throat, sharp and fast breaths hanging in the thick atmosphere.
But it doesnât stop there. As if this wasnât enough already, you can only stare at the door that gets opened painfully slow, claws digging into the wooden frame.
Without any doubt, this is a demon.
You press your sweaty palm against your mouth, force yourself to stop screaming, to stop breathing.
âI know youâre here, human. You smell like aâŚwoman.â
Itâs like all life is drained from the dead shell of your body, widened orbs staring at the frightful creature that makes its way into your home. Get up, fight, defend yourself like you saw Yoriichi do countless times, use the knowledge you gained from him.
But you donât move an inch, donât dare to look away. For a brief moment, time seems to stand still. Out of all the nights youâve spent together with your husband, this is the first away from him, the first without his protection. Is all of this a dream, a hallucination to test your nerves?
The second the monsterâs deadly red orbs meet yours, you get hit by reality. No, this isnât a dream.
This will be your death.
âI knew you were here, lady. Let me help you up, okay?â
âN-no. Please d-donâtâ, you whimper under your breath.
Your coward of a body doesnât even fight back when he lifts you off the ground with ease, his nails digging into your soft flesh.
âOh, youâre expecting a baby, donât you? Well, does this count as a double kill, then?â
Your baby getting killed? If that thing ends your life, it means your unborn child will never experience dawn, will never get to see the face of its father, will never take in his scent. Your glossy eyes widen in sheer horror, tears now streaming down your face like waterfalls when a single frown form on your forehead.
You couldnât care less about your own life. After all, you were lucky that Yoriichi saved you back then, didnât even deserve to survive when your whole family had to die before you. But that oh so innocent child that might have the eyes of its father, the blessing of your life right after your husband. That innocent life cannot be taken. Â
There is no way you will let this creature lay hands on it.
Your body reacts faster than your mind. With a surprisingly well-placed kick, you free yourself out of the monsterâs casual grip. You need to get out of the house, out where you are able to find shelter, to run away. Your lungs feel like bursting any given minute, legs trembling underneath the weight of yourself and the unborn baby you still carry right under your heart. Even if it means youâll die in vain, even if you wonât be able to see Yoriichiâs tender eyes ever again, you have to make sure your child is safe.
âI underestimated you, stupid woman. As it seems you didnât give up on life yetâ, the creature purrs what feels like right next to you.
A new nauseous wave of panic rises up your veins, makes you sprint even faster through the thick woods that surround your house. This has always been your favorite place to be. The calm trees waving back and forth in a soft breeze, your husband right by your side-
Your husband. Just the thought of never getting to see him again makes your heart ache. You didnât even get the chance to thank him one last time, to let him know how much he truly means to you, that heâs way more than the man who saved your life back then.
Heâs everything you ever wanted, everything you ever needed.
A sharp pain that radiates through your lower body sends you straight onto the ground immediately, figure cramping so violently that you canât catch your breath. No, this is not the time labor, not when a demon is this close.
âOh, there you are. Did you really think you can run away like that? You, a little human? You made me so man that I will kill you as painfully slow as possible.â
You try to lift your trembling figure off the ground, try to get back onto your feet, to sprint down the forest you know so well. But just when youâre about to get back onto your knees, a stinging pain in your right thigh paired with a contraction sends you straight back.
A violent scream escapes your lips.
Red. Everything around you is discoloured red. Is this your blood? Did this thing kill you already, are you going to die? Despite the way your guts start to turn when you follow the trail of blood, you canât look away. And there it is indeed, a gaping hole in your leg, throbbing and bleeding.
All color that is left now drains from your face. With an injured leg, your chance to escape this demonâs claws is non-existent. Which meansâŚ
Your heart skips a beat, threatens to fail you any given second. What about your unborn child? A violent storm of anger and determination clouds your mind, makes all logical thoughts vanish into thin air.
âYou canât kill meâ, you press out.
Since the day you first laid eyes on a demon, you accepted your own death. Your life is worthless anyway, compared to great warriors like your husband himself. But that oh so innocent child, that tiny life you were given to. You ball your hands into fists so tight your knuckles stand out white and lift your throbbing self off the ground. You cannot allow a demon to take the life of that unborn baby.
âI wonât allow you to touch me.â
You realize the stupidity of your words after they spill out of your mouth in rage. You, not allowing a demon to touch your puny figure? Another contraction makes your guts turn and vision almost go black.
As expected the frightful creature draws closer, its unpromising pair of razor-sharp teeth glittering in the dim moonlight. You never expected to see a demon this close again. Oh, how much you hoped youâd never find yourself in that situation again. But you have to get through this, have to make sure you will survive long enough for the mid wife to deliver your child to this world.
His child.
âIâm sorry Yoriichi. I never planned on leaving you alone like thisâ, you mumble to yourself, shaky lips tinted in salty tears.
âBut this all Iâm able to do.â
-Yoriichiâs POV-
Something seems off. Is it the way the trees bent back and forth in the soft breeze of the already set sun? Is it that distant smell that hangs in the air, the one that reminds him of fresh blood and lavender?
âWe must make haste. I can sense that danger is ahead of usâ, he speaks out with firm voice.
He promised you that heâll be back before the sun goes down, that he will make it on time before demon are able to roam around freely. Are you feeling alright? Is the pain unbearable at this point? Do you still hold trust for him in your heart? His footsteps pick up instinctively, eyes set on the visibly stressed man behind him. In contrary to most people, Yoriichi doesnât fear the night or the demons it brings. The only thing he fears at the moment is what you have to endure without your husband by your side.
With every he takes forward, the stinging smell of blood mixed with lavender becomes more urgent in his nose.
Lavender.
He always wondered how you did it. Even after washing, all your clothes kept that calming scent that surrounded you as if you were standing in a lavender bush. A smell so sweet that it caught his interest back then before he caught a glimpse of your fascinating orbs, a smell that always reminds him of home. Yoriichiâs home will always be where you are, where the sensation of lavender is the strongest.
Lavender, the stinging smell of blood that hangs in the air. His eyes widen when his mind starts to race. The smell, it radiates from the direction of your shared home, from the direction that usually fills him with excitement. Can it be
His heart starts racing uncontrollably while he dashes forward and draws his sword. Let it be nothing but coincidence, a cruel joke his thoughts play on him. But the stinging fragrance of lavender mixed with iron fills his heart with dread, makes his mind go numb. What if you got attacked by a demon, what if you are in great danger? All because he didnât live up to his promise, because he didnât make it on time. His eyes roam around the dark area, desperately searching for a sign.
And then his eyes find you.
Yoriichiâs heart stops.
There you lay, leaning against a nearby tree with a puddle of blood surrounding you, widened eyes starring straight into the face of a demon who hollers above you.
âNo one is coming to save you, stupid girl.â
He doesnât waste another second. With a swift motion of his sharp blade, Yoriichi beheads the demon on top of you while a toe-curling scream escapes your lips. Just one look at your sliced-up kimono reveals countless injuries, especially a gaping hole in your thigh. You hold onto your swollen belly for what looks like dear life, eyes still widened in nothing but shock.
â(y/n)â, he gently speaks out while letting himself fall down next to you.
You have to blink a few times. The demon, it was just about to dig its sharp teeth into your sensitive skin, to take the life of your unborn child in front of your eyes.
Maroon.
But those arenât the deadly red orbs. No, those oh so gorgeous eyes look so familiar that your heart tames down in an instant. Could it really be, is it possible that itâsâŚhim?
âYoriichi.â
You breathe his name into the night like a prayer.
Maybe this is nothing but an illusion, a cruel trick your own brain plays on you.
âWords canât express how sorry I am for arriving too late. I will never forgive myself for leaving you alone this long, for causing this to happenâ, his oh so familiar voice blurts out.
Yoriichiâs usual so composed face twists in sheer agony, eyes filling with salty tears. All of this is his fault. He should have arrived sooner, he should have made hurry, he-
âWe didnât come this far to worry now. Please, help be delivering this child, let it all make senseâ, you press out while grabbing his hand tightly.
It doesnât matter that youâre severely injured, it doesnât matter that your beloved husband took longer than expected to come back to you. All that matters now are you, him and your unborn child that waits to be delivered.
âAllow me to assist you.â
A foreign man suddenly speaks out with sweat dripping from his forehead in waterfalls. Just when another wave of nauseous pain hits you with full force, as if you got kicked into your stomach by a horse. You fail to breathe for a second, hands holding onto your husband for dear life.
âYou are already close, it wonât be long nowâ, the man reassures you while gently opening your legs.
âYou can do it, (y/n). After all the things you had to endure today, you will be able to get through this. With me by your side. I love you more than any words could ever say, darling.â
One more push.
One more wave of pain before your body goes numb, before you lose the ability to feel anything except for sweet nothingness.
Until a loud shriek finds its way to your ear.
A violent scream, almost frustrating. When you open your eyes again, you are greeted by a crying but alive bundle of joy, carefully wrapped into a white cloth and placed onto the arm of its father.
Those eyes.
âI prayed every night that he would have your eyesâ, you whimper with tears running down your cheek uncontrollably.
You did it. You saved your beloved child who looks just like its father, you managed to somehow stay alive.
âSheâ, the midwife corrects you gently.
âSheâŚâ, you mumble with a small smile.
The last thing you see are the troubled maroon eyes of your husband before your world goes dark.
-the next day-
A foreign but still so familiar laughter fills the atmosphere around you with joy while you see nothing but black. When your stubborn lids finally open, you are greeted by the wooden ceiling you know so well. This is your home, without any doubt.
The home a demon invaded.
The home where you feared for your life while your husband rushed to the midwife in order to deliver your child.
Your child.
You get up way too quickly, glossy eyes darting around the room without a real aim. Is your baby okay? What happened after the delivery? All you can remember are those familiar maroon eyes that looked so much like the orbs of your beloved husband. Your husbandâŚWhere is Yoriichi?
âDonât move too quickly, love. The doctor strictly forbids you to be in a hasteâ, his gentle voice speaks out next to you.
Just a few moments later, you get invited by the warmth of his arms swallowing you whole. Out of instinct, you let yourself fall against him, press your very own body into his despite the scorching pain that immediately takes over your whole self.
Right, you were attacked by a demon the night you gave birth. How did you manage to escape? Are your injuries critical.
But most important: How is your baby?
âLook what you have accomplished. A little wonder. Just like you, my loveâ, your husband murmurs, carefully lifting a little bundle off a blanket nearby.
Your heart nearly stops when you catch a glimpse of her. Those maroon eyes are the last thing you remember before everything goes black. With shaky hands, you start caressing her puffy cheek. This. This is what you fought for, what makes it all worth it in the end.
âShe has your eyesâ, you hush, tears now streaming down your face in waterfalls.
âAnd your hairâ, Yoriichi replies with a soft smile towards you.
â(y/n), I promise Iâll do anything in my power to protect you and her from something like this. I promise I will stand by your side no matter what. And I hope that someday, you will be able to forgive me for not being there for you when you needed me the most.â
The second your husbandâs voice cracks, you canât hold onto yourself any longer. You wrap your arms around him and your daughter longingly, take in the scent who gave you strength that night.
âThere is nothing to forgive and nothing to feel sorry about. You did your very best and that is all that matters. I love you, Yoriichi. And I have to thank you for saving both of us just in time.â
âYou are my greatest treasure on earthâ, he mumbles against your lips while giving you a passionate kiss.
What a plot twist, what a happy end after all. Yesterday you were sure your life is over, that you wonât live onto the next day. And now youâre lying in your house, holding your giggling daughter while pressing your heavy head against your husbandâs broad chest.
âWell, I fear I will have to share this special place by nowâ, you comment while gazing at your perfect little daughter.
âThis might be true, love.â

Would you be willing to write a Miguel x Spider!Reader oneshot where theyâre arguing over something the reader did on a mission. And in the heat of an argument, Miguel yells âBecause I love you!â at the perfectly wrong time, revealing why he cares about the readerâs safety.
âWhat the hell was that back there. You couldâve jeopardised the whole mission with that reckless stunt you pulled back there!â Miguel barked, ripping off mask the first moment moment he could; Hellfire were setting ablaze to his beautiful scarlet eyes that were zeroed in on you as the anger, the frustration upon his face became prominent the more he closed the distance between you.
âWhen will you let this go, Miguel. When we became Spider-Man we knew the risks that we were running with-â âso you thought itâd be better to take a running head start by taking the leap and then diving headfirst into them?!â Miguel cuts you off and with an indignant huff he adds, âyou donât get extra points for being reckless, this isnât some little game that you can just come back to when you feel like it. No, what we do is a full time commitment with no room for last minute deviations just because you were feeling more heroic.â
You grit your teeth. You respected Miguel, you truly did and at one point in time you wanted to do right by his little rule book of how to be a great hero. However you soon learned that itâs better to play by your own rules rather then it was to play by those made by others and slowly but surly found a method that worked for you. For no two methods were the same when it came to protecting and saving people but if they both end in the same conclusion, then no one should be able to raise an issue with it. At the end of the day you and Miguel saved people from a much bigger problem if left unchecked; so why was it that all of a sudden he had an issue with your methods?
It never upset him this much before, so why now. Did he think you as incapable? As unreliable? As untrustworthy to fully let you handle a situation on your own? Whatever it was it only proved in pissing you off despite your semi-injured state; you didnât care that youâve gotten hurt, youâve gotten hurt plenty of times before and he never once batted an eye or exemplified his emotions as he did as of right now. You could barely get a read on the guy as he stood mere feet away, chest heaving even though he wasnât out of breath, eyes wide and his hair slightly disheveled from the way he had torn off his mask earlier.
And yet you couldnât help but find him beautiful in his anger, for it was like witnessing the makings of a Greek tragedy; beautifully written, yet so heartbreakingly tragic.
âWhy does it matter?â You spat, getting up, despite your injured legâs desire to buckle beneath the weight of not only you but the situation at hand. You saw the briefest movements of Miguelâs arms almost stretch out to instinctively catch you but stopping midway through the motion before going slack at his sides once more; as though remembering why he was mad at you in the first place. âIt never mattered before, so why does it matter now? You donât hound the others for doing it so why is it me thatâs getting shit on for doing the same when I ainât the first to do so!â
âBecause I love you!â Miguel exclaimed.
The silence afterwards was almost deafening. Miguelâs outburst quieted you quickly as a thousand and one thoughts raced in your head; how long? why now? Was this merely a ruse to silence you so he could badger on at you for your supposed mistake? You didnât know what to make of anything anymore now that he said that. You didnât want to believe it for starters on the basis that not once had he ever shown interest in you, if anything he made it apparent to push you away or avoid you entirely from any and all interaction, and even when he did it was comprised of short responses that left the attempts at conversation to die as an overwhelming awkwardness forced you into leaving him be.
âWhat?â
âI love you.â Miguel repeated, softer this time.
âI get that but why-â âhavenât I shown it until now? As stupid as it sounds but I didnât want you to get hurt because of me and look where you are,â he gestured to your injured state, âhurt because of me.â He adds defeatedly. You were about to open your mouth when Miguel raised a hand, indicating that he wasnât finished, âI know I havenât given you any reason to believe me when I say that I love you. I avoid you like the plague and I push you away whenever I see you starting to get too close and respond in a clipped tone of voice so that youâd loose interest and move on to talk to someone else.â
He stopped talking to move in closer to you, grasping you by arms with a firm grip as all the anger in his face seemingly having been melted away. The raging hellfire that once consumed his scarlet eyes in their entirety had been diminished to that of dying ambers, unveiling his admiration, his worry, his guilt and most importantly, his love; the sneer now long gone was replaced by a softer more tender expression that didnât hide away the worry lines that were deeply etched into his skin. âI donât deserve you, Iâm not worth having you because sooner or later youâll see me the way Iâve always seen myself and Iâd rather you be as far away as possible when that happens.â Miguel said, making sure he was maintaining eye contact with you the entire time to prove that he was being wholeheartedly genuine, not wanting to lie to you about something as personal as his feelings; Heâs done that for long enough, Miguel knew his breaking point was upon the incline and seeing you act the way you did during the mission only fast forward it.
âYet for some inexplicable reason I canât stop myself for wanting to protect you, to make sure youâre safe, to make sure that you never come to harm. At first I thought it was because I was looking out for a teammate, making sure you didnât slip up and cause more potential problems for the rest of us, making sure that you didnât let a single perpetrator slip but soon I learnt it was far more then just simply looking after a teammate...â Miguel paused to blink away the images regarding of the nightmares heâd get concerning you, which were few and far between but those times were enough to suffocate him with fear. âIt was something more and I grew scared, I grew scared because I know what itâs like to loose it all but for some reason I also knew that loosing you would just be the nail in the coffin for me.â
Miguel admits as he presses his forehead against your own, his hands trailing from up your arms until theyâre caressing the skin of either side of your neck between calloused thumbs. He closing his eyes and allows himself to breath you in, reminding himself that you were here and that he managed to get to you before anything else could, that he kept you safe, not from all harm but at least from some of it and that was good enough but he knew deep down that he needed the do better. âDonât make me imagine a life without you,â he whispers, pressing his forehead against yours just that tiny bit harder as his fingertips found their home where your pulse points were to remind him that you werenât gone completely from his grasp, âfor I donât think Iâm strong enough to withstand that reality.â
âYou donât have to.â You told him softly, lifting your hands to caresses the skin of his cheeks and feeling him effectively melt within your hold. âNot anymore.â

LN4 | Vexing Vacation â Part 1
Summary: When you agreed to join your brother on his vacation, sharing a room with his best friend wasnât part of the plan. Now, that youâre constantly stuck with Lando and his relentless teasing, youâre not sure whether you want to strangle him or kiss him.
Lando Norris x Fewtrell!Reader, one-bed trope, a lot of banter and a hint of forced proximity :)
WC: 3.1K
Warnings: mentions of sex/sexual insinuations, and cursing (as always)
Masterlist | Part 2
Y/N sighed as she stared at her suitcase. She would never get it closed without breaking the zipper. She opened it again, going through the selection of clothes while she asked herself which of her items werenât absolutely necessary. The unfortunate answer was that she needed everything.Â
She had wild plans for the short vacation her brother had invited her on. According to him, she had been too stressed the last couple of months, and she desperately needed some time off. Along with the promise that heâd take care of everything, she had agreed to join his trip. She could use a one-night stand, or two and a little flirting to get her mind off her busy job.
However, there was the small nuisance of Lando coming along. Ever since he gained some confidence after his career took off and girls started herding him, he had been mocking her and making extremely inappropriate comments. He had changed over the years and Max had told her all about it. He told her about his new endeavours with the ladies; how he brought a different girl home every weekend and never spoke to them again. The attention was feeding his ever-growing ego, and it annoyed Y/N endlessly. He needed someone to put him in his place, and she would volunteer every time.
She smiled triumphantly when she finally zipped her suitcase closed with half an hour to spare. Sitting on her couch and scrolling on her phone, she waited for her brother to pick her up on his way to the airport. They greeted each other quickly before they took off, Y/N and Pietra catching up and discussing their plans for the week as Max drove.
Once they arrived at the airport, she spotted Lando all too quickly, casually leaning against a pillar near the check-in. He was wearing sunglasses (inside â like some lunatic) and a cocky smile on his face when he saw them approaching.Â
âY/N Fewtrell. Itâs been a whileâŚâ
âIf only it lasted longer,â She responded.
Lando smiled at her reply, enjoying her feisty character whereas Max hissed into her ear, âPlay nice.âÂ
âLetâs board?â Lando asked. âThe jetâs ready, I think.â
Y/N raised an eyebrow. âPrivate?â
âYes. Are you impressed?â
âHardly,â she scoffed before rolling her suitcase to the plane.
The group arrived at their destination in no time â flying private really did have its perks â and drove the rental car to the resort. Taxis were a no-go when half of the people on the trip were professional drivers, and apparently, so were ordinary cars.Â
The porter took the bags out of the trunk and Lando handed the keys to the valet driver before they entered the hotel. Y/N took a seat in one of the luxurious chairs in the hotel lobby while she let her brother manage the check-in. She was people-watching when the group joined her.
âOkay⌠So, thereâs been a little mishapâŚâ Y/N looked at her brother with narrowed eyes.
âWhat did you do?â She said in a low tone.
âSo, I may have forgotten to book an extra room for youâŚâ Max admitted.
âWhat?â
âAnd they have no other rooms left, even the most expensive ones are taken.â
âPlease tell me youâre joking.âÂ
âIâm not,â he paused, âbut, you can share with Lando.â
Of course, Lando would oh-so-heroically offer to share his room with her. She could just smack the smirk right off his face.
âMax, can I talk to you for a minute â in private?â Y/N asked, an innocent smile on her face, before forcefully pulling her brother aside.
âI canât sleep in the same room as Lando, Max. I had plans for this vacation, plans that canât happen if Iâm sharing a room with Lando.â
Max raised an eyebrow at her insinuation but didnât comment on it. âWell, what other option do you have?â He said, crossing his arms.
âI could share a room with Pietra, and you can share with LandoâŚâ she suggested, smiling up at her brother sweetly. âPlease?â
Max sighed. âI donât know about that, Y/N. Pietra and I have plans too, you know. Plans that include nightly activities. In bed,â He clarified.
Y/N pulled a face of disgust but offered her brother the same courteousness of ignoring the comment. âAre you serious, Max? Youâre okay with me, your little baby sister, sharing a room â a bed, with Lando Norris? You know well enough that heâs always trying to get into my pants. This is your fault, you know. You told me you had taken care of everything.â
âI donât like this as much as you do, but thereâs not really another choice, is there?â
âYes, there is. I told you, I can room withââ
âY/N. Donât be childish, youâll be fine sharing a room for a few nights.â
âHeâs going to try to take my innocence, Max. You canât let that happen. Youâre my big brother. Youâre supposed to protect me, not throw me into the lionâs den.â Y/N tried, pulling out all the stops in the hope Max would change his mind. There was no other card she could play. She was tugging on his arm, practically begging him in the middle of the hotel lobby. If Lando and Pietra didnât already know what was going on, they sure would know now.
Max rolled his eyes. âYour innocence has been gone for years, Iâm sure,â Y/N gasped in offence, âItâs not going to work, make the best of it, yeah?â He concluded, patting her back before walking back to the group.Â
She watched as her brother walked away, frustration clear on her face, but she joined him only a couple of seconds later; she needed to make the best of this, after all, and it was too late to go home now.
As her eyes met Landoâs, she could already feel a wave of irritation come over her. He was standing casually, the stupid sunglasses still perched on his nose, hands tucked in his pockets, and a smirk plastered on his face as if he knew exactly how her conversation had gone.
âYou really donât want to share a bed with me, do you?â He asked her as soon as she was near enough.
Y/N crossed her arms, glaring at him. âWhat gave it away?â
âCouldâve been the part where you begged your brother not to throw you into the lionâs den,â Lando said, raising his eyebrows playfully. âOr maybe the part where you said Iâm always trying to get into your pants.â He feigned hurt, putting a hand over his chest. âAll those years of flirting down the drainâŚâ
He chuckled softly at her angry expression, the sound infuriatingly smug. âLook, youâre making this into a bigger deal than it is. But donât worry,â he added, his voice dropped as he leaned closer, âIâll be the gentleman here. You can take the couch.â
Y/N blinked. âWhat?â She hissed.
âThe couch, itâs all yours. Iâll suffer through the luxury of the bed.â He sighed dramatically before turning toward the elevator, casually slinging his bag over his shoulder.
âSee you upstairs, roommate,â he winked, stepping inside as the doors slid shut.
Her jaw was slack as she watched him disappear behind the sliding doors. She turned to Max angrily, âWhat the fuck is wrong with him? Did he fall on his head as a child or something?â
Pietra laughed softly as she wrapped her arms around Maxâs waist. âHeâs just teasing you, Y/N. Itâll be fine. Come on, letâs go up.â
â â â â â
âIâm not sleeping on the couch,â Y/N said as soon as she entered the room.
âOh, hello. Good to see you.â Lando smiled smugly from his position on the bed.
She glared at him â if looks could kill heâd be dead ten times over by now. âGet. Off. My. Bed.â She forced out through her gritted teeth.
Lando stretched out even further on the bed, hands behind his head. âYour bed? If Iâm not mistaken, you were an afterthought to this vacation. This room was originally mine. You should be glad Iâm kind enough to share it with you.â
Y/N stared at him. She wanted to rebuke him and tell him to stay on the couch, but he was right â although sheâd never admit it to his face. He was doing her a favour by sharing his room, but he would never be chivalrous enough to sacrifice his bed. She took a deep breath. âFine,â she said, her voice cold and direct. âI guess weâll share the bed.â
âFine with me,â Lando said offhandedly as he messed with the remote control.
âAlright, then. Iâll go get ready for dinner.âÂ
The silence that settled over the room was awkward, at best. Y/N felt Landoâs eyes pricking in her back as she did her makeup, and the eye contact through the mirror didnât make it any better.
âWhat?â She asked, hoping for some conversation to fill the quiet.
âNothing,â Lando responded, averting his eyes and continuing to browse through the series and movies on the TV.
Y/N frowned at the response. Sheâll have to raise a topic of conversation herself, then. âWhy is it so cold in here?â She asked.
âI donât know,â Lando retorted.
âDo you think itâs cold or are you okay with the temperature?â She continued, but Lando merely shrugged in response.
Y/N sighed, setting down her brush and powder before getting up to look at the air-conditioning setting. In contrast to the rest of the room, it was an old-fashioned system with a disk with a pointer to set the temperature. She turned the disk, but the pointer didnât move.
âAre you getting hotter?â She asked confused, not feeling a temperature difference in the air blowing out of the air conditioner.Â
âDonât even try,â she added quickly before Lando could respond, already seeing the smirk form on his face.
It quickly changed into an innocent smile, âWhat? I was just going to say I donât feel a difference.â
âMhm, sure. I think the air conditioner is broken. I turned the temperature up, but itâs not getting any warmerâŚâ
Lando got up from the bed with a sigh and walked closer to look at the buttons himself.Â
âYou donât have to get so closeâŚâ Y/N commented when she felt his breath hitting her neck.
âIâm trying to see what the buttons say, Y/N. I have to get close in order to do that.â
âYouâre getting in my personal space.â
âPersonal space? Whatâs that? I thought we were past the formalities.â
Y/N huffed, crossing her arms.Â
âI donât know why itâs not working,â Lando continued, âIt must be broken,â he concluded before walking back to the bed.Â
âWhat? Canât you fix it?â
Lando looked at Y/N incredulously, âHow am I supposed to fix it?â
âI donât know⌠Arenât you good with technology and stuff?â
âThat thing is ancient, Y/N.â
She huffed. Sheâd just have to deal, then. She quickly changed into one of her dresses and finished her hair.
âArenât you going to change?â She asked Lando, who was still lying on the bed in his plane clothes.
âHm?â
âWeâre leaving any minute now. Itâd be nice if you changed into something decent for dinner. Weâre not eating at some dive bar, you know.â
Lando rolled his eyes and sighed, âDonât you ever get tired of yourself?â
âExcuse me?â she retorted, crossing her arms as she stared him down, about to scold him when there was a knock on the door.
âYouâre lucky this time,â she added, before letting Max and Pietra in.Â
She plastered a sweet smile on her face and complimented Pietra on her outfit.
âI can say the same about you,â Pietra responded kindly, pulling Y/N in for a hug.
âOh, youâre too sweet,â Y/N waved off her comment.
âAre you ready to leave?â Max cuts in.
âYes, donât know about Lando though. He wouldnât change.â
âIâm ready,â he interjected. âI donât need as much time as some people here,â he said with a teasing smile.
âOkay, letâs go.â Max pulled her out of the room before Y/N could respond, her mouth already open to rebut his rude comment.
âDid you hear that, Max? How on earth am I supposed to get through the night â let alone the entire vacation â when he talks to me like that? I swear, Iâm going to strangle him in his sleepââÂ
âLetâs not do that. You just need to adjust a little bit.â
âDid you hear what he said before? He asked me if I never get tired of myself. Do you know how insulting that is? Heâs absolutely insufferable! His egoâs way too big, he could use someone to knock it down for him,â Y/N kept rambling as Max led her to the elevator, basically pushing her in before she quieted down.
Pietra and Lando joined them only a few seconds later, and the cocky grin on Landoâs face showed he knew exactly how much he had ticked her off, and the enjoyment he took from it. Y/N glared at him throughout the elevator ride. However, despite his earlier comments and the way he had annoyed her all day â if not all her life â she couldnât deny he looked good.Â
The white shirt he had changed into, with the top buttons open and the sleeves rolled up, accentuated his muscled arms, and allowed her to see the glimmer of the silver chain around his neck â she had to admit he was attractive. When Lando caught her looking she quickly averted her gaze, looking at her nails as she picked at them. But he had already noticed, his grin only becoming cockier. The confidence with which he carried himself, although extremely frustrating and unnecessary, had caught her eye along with all the other girlsâ, but it wasnât enough to make up for his annoying behaviour.
â â â â â
The dinner was uncomfortable.Â
Of course, Y/N and Lando had to be seated across from each other. And if the discussions earlier that day didnât display their dislike for each other, the lack of conversation at the dinner table certainly did. They didnât exchange a single word until Y/N snapped at him.
âWould you stop looking at me?âÂ
Her patience had worn thin after feeling his eyes on her every other second, but Lando merely smirked at the annoyance in her voice, âWhere else am I supposed to look?â he asked innocently.
âI donât know. Your food, maybe?â She shot back.
Lando raised his hands in surrender, before turning his attention to Max and Pietra, who were deep in conversation. Y/N tried to focus on their discussion, but the persistent feeling of Landoâs gaze on her was impossible to ignore. Every time their eyes met, his smirk only grew, making her jaw clench tighter.
When the meal came to an end, Y/N was more than ready to leave. She quickly collected her bag and jacket before joining Pietra on the walk back. With Lando far away from her, she could finally relax and talk comfortably, without being distracted by a pair of eyes burning holes in her face. The group quickly made their way back to the hotel, and after the elevator ride, Y/N and Lando were once again left alone.
âItâs cold in here,â she mumbled, switching the lights on as she entered the hotel room.
âYou donât say,â he responded sarcastically.
Y/N sighed, deciding to ignore the comment and rather focus on the problem at hand. âOkay, we should probably discuss how weâre going to do thisâŚâ Lando looked at her confusedly, so she continued, âAs concluded earlier today, weâll share the bed. Iâll take the left side if thatâs okay?âÂ
Lando nodded, so she continued, âThe bed is big, so if you dare cross over to my side, Iâll choke you in your sleepââÂ
âOoh, kinky,â he interjected, and Y/N flashed him a fake smile, âor Iâll tell Max, and heâll handle it for me,â she finished.
Now, usually, Lando wouldnât care much for her threats, but he knew Max was protective over his sister and from experience, Lando also knew that Max would indeed fuck him up if he crossed Y/Nâs boundaries. He was actually surprised that Max was okay with him and Y/N sharing a room; he was usually up her ass whenever she so much as stood near a man. He didnât know whether to be glad about it or not; did Max think Lando was like a brother to his sister, that nothing would ever happen between them, or did he trust him enough not to do anything without her permission?Â
âFine, fine. I promise Iâll be a perfect gentleman,â he told her.
Y/N squinted her eyes at him.Â
âI will,â he repeated.Â
She wasnât sure whether to believe him or not, but the sincerity in his voice suited her a bit. She nodded and quickly changed into her pyjamas in the bathroom before slipping under the covers on the left side of the bed â as promised. She lay on her side, facing away from the right side where Lando would soon settle. She stayed as close to the edge as she could without falling off, so much so that Lando raised an eyebrow at her when he returned.
âYou okay over there? Not lonely or cold or anything? I could warm you up if you like,â he suggested, the amusement evident in his tone.
âIâm fine,â she muttered. She wasnât really, though. The room was freezing with the air conditioner still blasting cold air, and the thin comforter, which would normally be fine for the temperatures outside, wasnât helping much.
She felt the bed move as Lando shifted, but she stayed silent, quietly staring out the window where she could just barely make out the street lanterns through the thin curtains. Although she pretended not to care (and would continue to do so), being this close to him made her uneasy â not because she didnât trust him, although she wasnât entirely convinced yet, but because of how aware she was of him. His presence, the warmth radiating from his body, and the faint scent of his cologne were all impossible to ignore in this proximity.
She closed her eyes, willing herself to fall asleep, but her mind refused to quiet. Despite everything, she couldnât stop thinking about how he had actually been pretty decent at dinner â apart from his frustrating staring habit â and how relaxed, confident, and hot he looked in that shirt⌠She hated how easily he affected her and how only he could wind her up without any effort at all.

Hello! Can I request homelander x human reader? Maybe he has some kind of messed up obsession with a Vought employee that gave him a huge cupcake on his birthday but she is just completely blind to it. Like he's just obsessing constantly like "I swear if someone touches you I'll-" and she's just like "hm, he must be hungry" Id love to see what you do with this plot if you decide to use it. Obsessed x dense is such a funny kind of ship to me.
Strawberry Cupcake
Homelander X Reader
Content: Protective Homelander, Jealousy, he is obsessed! and you adore him too, some threats, lots of touching (in non-sexual ways), semi-harassment from a side character but not really
Word Count: 2.3k
Warnings: Non-graphic threats
a/n: I WILL NEVER GET OVER THIS GIF also I am currently watching The Boys for the first time and have not made it to Homelanderâs birthday episode yet so I changed the request a tiny bit, ty
It began with a cupcakeâsuch a small insignificant gesture for the sender, but a brain-rewiring occasion for the receiver. Homelander stood there, dazed, looking at the large treat on the seven-shaped desk, right in front of his chair. He was publicly celebrating â500 crimes preventedâ recently, but the majority of it was just a PR stunt. They faked the last crime, making it extra flamboyant so that audiences had something to gawk over. Vought needed more interest so they threw together some tacky event with overpriced merchandise and a speech from Homelander himself. With a tentative hand, Homelander reached out and held the cupcake in his gloved hand. It couldnât have been an outsider that gave this to him, no one steps into this room besides those he allowed. Examining it further, he noticed a pink slip on the table next to the cupcake.Â
âIn celebration of 500 crimes! Thank you for protecting us. -Y/Nâ
A simple message, a display of gratitude he receives from strangers all of the time. So then why does this feel so different? So personal compared to the other thanks he gets? He licked some frosting. Strawberry, his favorite. He felt a smile grow on his face. Perhaps it was because you were the only employee to thank him for all the fake-heroic work he has done, or because you were observant enough to know his food preferences, but he needed to find just who you were.Â
Immediately he went to Ashley and demanded she find who this Y/N person was. The first time he saw you he was instantly drawn to your demeanor. You didnât seem scared of him, even though as a higher-ranking employee you should be at least aware of his capabilities. Homelander quickly shooed Ashley away and began to make a civil conversation with you, thanking you for the cupcake with a genuine smile. You happily mirrored a smile back, showering him with praise but also trying to make regular conversation. You didnât want to seem like a fan or anything.Â
The time you spent together was refreshing, humanizing. You treated him not as a machine like so many others before you had. You eagerly indulged in whatever topic Homelander brought up, sparking even more interest in the man. As the night concluded he decided to test you.Â
âYou do realize that the whole â500 crimesâ thing is fake, right?â He said it with a tone intended to make you feel stupid for getting the cupcake, despite his undying gratitude for the small gesture. He needed to know what your reasoning was, or if your pretty little face was just not paying attention to the work they do at Vought.Â
âI know! But, I dunno. It still seemed like a cool thing to pretend to celebrate. Plus, Iâve been getting into baking and thought, why not make you something? I mean, whatâs the worst that could happen?â You said with a soft smile and a sweet expression. You were so fucking oblivious to the fact he could snap you in half without a second thought it was adorable. But it also scared him, were you that dense in the real world to criminals? With even just meeting you he couldnât bear the thought of you being injured. And thus began Homelanderâs mission to be your guard dog in the shadows.Â
He was always there, whether you knew or not, keeping an eye on you. He was horrified when he found out you walked home alone from Vought when your shift was over. Were you stupid? No, he knows thatâs not the answer. You were just too kind to ever assume that there were people out there who could harm others without a second thought. It was honestly a miracle youâve made it this far without his protection. But no need to fear now, heâs got your back.Â
When he is making himself known heâs constantly obsessing over you, to the point where everyone else in the room can tell but you. One day Homelander brought you along for a promotional event Vought was hosting for a sponsor. He held your hand the entire time backstage, wanting to keep you close. For the moments where he was forced to be somewhere else God forbid anyone else enter your vicinity because they would have a very stern talking to later by Americaâs favorite superhero.Â
âY/N, just stay here okay? Iâll be back in a bit. If anyone tries to do something tell me, and Iâll fucking blast their heads off sweetheart.â Homelander looks at you with a serious expression, but you only smile at him back. You believe heâs always exaggerating with his threats, despite it being the exact opposite. If anything, the threats are always tamer than the punishment itself.Â
âI know, I know. Anybody talks to me, you'll kill them.â You said with a smile, briefly touching Homelanderâs nose with your pointer finger. âYouâre so cute. Go get âem, tiger.â You shoo him away to Ashley, who is waiting with a bored expression. Sheâs seen this display a million times, of Homelander swooning over you and you not picking up a single hint. The times when he would make Ashley call you into his office just so he could rest his head on your lap at the end of a particularly long day. When you were running late once to a meeting and Homelander searched the entire city in under two minutes because his overactive mind convinced himself you were dead in an alleyway and he had failed you. When he returned disheveled and ready to burn the entire building to the ground he found you were just in the bathroom touching up your makeup and lost track of time. Somehow in his haste of panic, he didnât think to check the building and immediately assumed the worst. Ever since that incident, Ashley has made sure you were on time for every event now. She was sure he even leveled a mountain for you once after you thought it had the perfect view for a picnic, but no room for a proper picnic blanket.Â
Yeah, the dude was obsessed. This brought about some problems at Vought, but anyone would rather jump off a bridge than confront Homelander about his little obsession with you.Â
It was another typical day, Vought had just begun filming for a TV show about The Seven. Naturally, they filmed Homelanderâs segment first. You sat in said superheroâs dressing room and watched as he perfectly combed his soft blonde hair into place. You had a stupid smile on your face, gawking at the incredible man in front of you. âYouâre gonna do great today! Iâm so excited to watch your film.â Homelander looked over and saw you practically jumping in your seat with excitement. It warmed his heart to see you so genuinely enjoy him doing simple tasks like mindlessly talking to a camera for hours.Â
âThank you, sweetheart.â Homelander puts down his comb and saunters over to your chair, bringing you into a sudden hug. In truth, he canât stand physically being away from you for more than an hour. He feels right when heâs with you, he feels like John, not Homelander. Itâs such an overwhelming feeling of comfort he feels, he could cry each time you touch. If this is what true love feels like he wishes all his enemies feel it so he can rip it away from them. How excruciatingly painful that must feel shakes him in maniacal ways.Â
âJohn?â Youâve become accustomed to using his real name with him by his request. The simple title shakes him out of his thoughts and brings them back to your shining face. âWhatâs the hug for? Not that Iâm complaining butâŚâ You trail off, arms wrapped around his torso reciprocating the hug.Â
âCanât hug my girl?â He playfully smiles, squeezing your small body with only a percentage of his power. We all know what would happen if he did it with full force. He leads you out into the hallway in front of his dressing room door. The expression he wore was akin to the face a puppy makes when it gets kicked. âI have to go film, but remember if anyone fucking touches you Iâll burn them until their unrecognizable,â Homelander said with a nonchalance that should have horrified you, but you simply smile when he pats your head, kisses your cheek, and leaves the room. As you turn to go your own way you see an intern for the television company standing there, mouth agape. Their expression was almost laughable.Â
âHe just must be hungry!â You giggle.Â
As the day progressed Homelander became increasingly irritated over the fact he hadnât seen you in hours. The underpaid employees were consistently getting berated and yelled at by the man. âGo find Y/NâŚâ Ashley whispered to an intern after a particularly realistic threat spewed from Homelanderâs mouth.Â
Looking up from his tiny rampage, it was evident that Homelander had heard the request crystal clear. Deciding he was done with idiots for the rest of today he left with a grumble, âDonât bother, Iâll find her myself.âÂ
Finding you wasnât the problem, it never is with Homelanderâs unique abilities, but finding who you were with was something else. Somehow a random D-list superhero had found its way onto the set and decided that you were the lucky girl who deserved his charm today. Unlucky for that man, Homelanderâs already sunken mood had just become much more severe. He was clearly making you comfortable, backing you into a corner where you couldnât escape. He wasnât quite touching you, but he was only a breath away from being able to. The sigh almost activated Homelanderâs eye beams right then and there. He felt animalistic, and territorial over you.Â
With the best fake expression he could muster, which wasnât very good, he casually walked over to the two of you. As the man next to you saw who was approaching his eyes lit up and his body seemed to forget you were there, so enthralled by the man in front of him. Wrong reaction.Â
âHomelander, sir! Wow, itâs such an honor to meet you.â His hand stuck out, waiting for a handshake it would never receive.Â
âRight,â Homelanderâs smile was strained. âAnd what is going on over here?âÂ
The man seems taken aback by the question, not quite sure why Homelander was interested in what was happening. âOh, um, me and girly over here are just chatting. Think I might get to home base tonight, if you know what I mean, haha.â He winked at Homelander, a disgusting and provocative gesture. Gauging your reaction to this comment, a look of fear in your eyes and a pleading look sent Johnâs way, he almost evaporated the man right then and there. But he kept his cool, he wouldnât want you to see all the dirty work he has to do after all.Â
âI donât know what you mean,â Homelander said plainly, making the other superhero, if he could even call himself that, cringe at himself. John stood there, eyes now locked on you. You looked so fragile in this position, like something he needed to protect. Sometimes he felt his abilities were given to him for that sole purpose; to protect you from the world. Even if that wasnât the case he does so anyway.Â
âRight, well, umâŚâ The man stuttered out, embarrassed at the exchange.Â
âWhat are you doing here? Itâs surprising theyâd invite a D-tier superhero to a Vought shooting.â Homelander questioned, changing the subject away from you. This seemed to bring the manâs personality back.Â
âAh! Well, they wanted to include a segment where you were helping smaller heroes, you know, to show you donât care about status and everyone is equal.âÂ
âWell isnât that nice?â Homelanderâs grin toward the man only became increasingly artificial, smile lines dancing on either side. He turns to you. âWeâll be right back, sweetheart. Just going to chat about the show a bit.â He winks at you, before ushering the man away out the back.Â
It was an hour later when Homelander came back, seemingly much calmer now. Ashley began yelling at him, scolding him for making them wait before he shoved her aside and beelined for his dressing room where he knew you were sitting all pretty waiting for him.Â
âThereâs my beautiful girl.â He cooed, walking over and taking you in his arms, the scent of your shampoo entering his system.Â
You giggled. âWhere have you been? Still talking to that one guy? I donât really like him, he was being weird.âÂ
âDonât worry, sweetheart. He wasnât a good fit for the show anyway.â Homelander wiped a bit of charcoal off his suit. âThe team decided to fire him.âÂ
âMhm, I donât disagree with that notion.â You nuzzle into Homelanderâs chest before noticing a small box he was hiding behind his back. âWhatâs that?âÂ
âOh, this?â A wide smile played on the manâs lips. He presented the box, a red ribbon sealing the deal. âA present to cheer you up from earlier.â You thanked him before eagerly taking the box into your soft hands. With one fell swoop you managed to untie the ribbon to reveal one strawberry frosted cupcake that you then both shared.Â

"Blueberry muffin and one caramel latte, extra shot!" Y/N called out to her coworker over the noise of the espresso machine. The cozy coffee shop felt warm and inviting, with the smell of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air. Only a few patrons were scattered around, enjoying their drinks and pastries. It was slow at the moment, with the usual larger queue reduced to just two customers in lineâMary, the regular she was tending, and a man who waited after her.
"Here's your receipt, have a great day!" She extended her arm with a smile, as Mary thanked her and took it before finding a seat by the window.
The movement on the other side of the counter drew Y/N's attention to the new customer. As he appeared from behind Mary, he moved closer to place his order. Y/N's eyes lifted from where Mary had been standing, her gaze now caught by a tall man with a mop of tousled curls framing his face.
He wore a fun patterned shirt, the colors vibrant against the light filtering through the cafĂŠ windows. A small green neck scarf added a touch of flair, giving him a stylish and approachable vibe.
His eyes moved from the lettering and small drawings on the black chalkboard to meet the girl behind the register. She held a big smile, and he couldn't help but notice how it lit up her eyes, "Welcome to Sunshine Brews! What can I get for you today?"
"Good afternoon," he replied, his voice soft. "How are you doing..." He leaned forward slightly, his hands resting on the counter, as he squinted his eyes, clearly trying to read the tag placed on the right side of her chest. "...John?" His brows furrowed in confusion. He didn't want to assume anything, recognizing that names could be diverse, but his uncertainty was evident in his expression.
Y/N couldn't help but chuckle at his confused look. "Oh, that's not my name. Easy mistake, though! I'm covering for a friend named John today." She tapped her nametag lightly.
"He had a little issue, so someoneâŚ" She motioned to herself dramatically, exaggerating her words, "had to come in and save the day."
He chuckled at her theatrics. "What a good Samaritan we have here today," he teased lightly "Shouldn't you be sainted for your heroic deeds?"
She playfully shook her head, "You know⌠sometimes I think I should be,"
He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the counter, his expression genuinely curious. "And what would your saintly name be?"
She tilted her head slightly back, considering his question for a moment. Then, with a slight raise of her eyebrows, she declared, holding her finger up in the air, " How about Saint Y/N of the Extra Shifts"
"Saint Y/N of the Extra Shifts," he repeated thoughtfully. "I can already see the halo glowing faintly above your head."
"Well, someone had to do it, or you wouldn't have your coffee. Aren't you glad it was me?" She teased.
"Absolutely, Saint Y/N,"
"Well, I know you didn't come here to put up with my stupid jokes, so what can I get you started with?" Y/N quipped.
He chuckled softly, shaking his head. "I loved that stupid joke," his gaze was warm as he met her eyes. "I'm glad your friend John didn't make it, because I'm really enjoying our conversation."
"Yeah, but good conversation won't fill your stomach,"
"You're so wise," he added in a sarcastic tone before glancing at the menu thoughtfully. "I think I'll go with a latte and..." He paused, his gaze flicking back up to meet hers. "Do you have any recommendations for a light bite? Something to tide me over until dinner?"
Y/N nodded "Our avocado toast is a popular choice," she suggested, gesturing towards the menu board. "Or we have fresh pastries if you're in the mood for something sweet."
"Avocado toast sounds perfect,"
"Coming right up," Y/N replied cheerfully. "That'll be eight dollars and fifty cents. And what's the name for the order?"
"Matthew," he said, handing her a ten-dollar bill. "Keep the change."
"Well, thank you," she said, extending her arm across the counter to hand him the receipt. Then she turned to her coworker, who was tasked with making the orders. "Hey, can you get me a latte and avocado toast?"
Glancing around the relatively empty cafÊ, Matthew´s eyes fell on a couple of stools just a few steps away from the counter. He pondered for a moment, he was enjoying the conversation with Y/N, and if he sat at a table, even one nearby, he wouldn't be able to continue their chat as easily. Noticing how there was no movement and he was the latest customer, he decided to sit by the counter, keeping the option open for more interaction.
Y/N placed some napkins and a sugar jar in front of him. "Here you go, just in case," she said with a friendly smile.
"Seems to be slow at the moment," he remarked casually, his eyes flicking back to her.
"Well, lucky for you, it means I have all the time to entertain you " she teased, tapping her fingers against the counter.
"Is that part of the saintly services you offer? Entertainment along with the coffee?"
Y/N chuckled, nodding with mock seriousness. "Oh, absolutely," she replied, matching his playful tone. "But you know, entertainment comes with an extra charge. Saintly services aren't free, you know."
Matthew feigned surprise, his eyes widening in mock indignation, leaning back slightly. "What's the going rate for entertainment these days? Should I be worried about breaking the bank?"
Y/N leaned closer. "Since you're new here, I'll make you an offer," she whispered conspiratorially. "Today's entertainment will be on the house if you promise to come back for more."
Matthew's expression shifted in contemplation as he pretended to consider her offer. He scratched his chin lightly, a playful glint in his eyes. "Well, Saint Y/N, you're making it hard to refuse," he teased, his voice low and playful.
After a brief pause, he extended his pinky finger toward hers. "Alright, deal. I promise to come back,"
The pinky promise sealed the deal, and for a heartbeat longer than expected, their fingers intertwined. Y/N felt a rush of warmth as Matthew's gaze locked onto hers, their faces closer than they should be as they both leaned on either side of the counter.
"You better keep that promise now,"
Just then, Y/N's coworker arrived at the counter with his order in hand "Good afternoon," she said, breaking the brief silence. "One latte and avocado toast for Matthew."
"That's me," he replied with a nod, his attention momentarily on the girl as she set the food down in front of him. "Thank you." As the coworker walked away, Matthew's eyes shifted back to Y/N that had stepped back slightly to give room for her friend.
As he bit down on the toast, Matthew's gaze fixated on Y/N and he couldn't help but notice the faint blush that adorned her cheeks.
Unaware of his lingering gaze, Y/N observed the street outside while she ran her fingers through her hair with a casual grace. She swept it up momentarily before letting it fall behind her shoulders, and Matthew's eyes never left her, observing each movement with a keen interest.
His gaze lowered from her cheeks to her lips, tracing the delicate curve of her jawline down to her now exposed neck. It was then that the soft ambient light caught the glimmer of a pendant she wore, casting a gentle glow upon it.
Matthew's breath caught slightly as he noticed, recognizing it in an instant. His surprise was palpable. "Wait a minute," Matthew choked out, his mouth half full of avocado toast.
"WhaâŚ. What?" Y/N asked, taken aback by his sudden change in demeanor.
Matthew lifted a finger to his lips, gesturing for her to wait as he swallowed. His eyes were wide with excitement as he pointed at her. "You're wearing my necklace," he finally exclaimed.
Her hand instinctively went to the delicate pendant around her neck, feeling its familiar weight. "I'm sorry, what?"
"It's my necklace," he repeated, a smile spreading across his face as he pointed at it.
Y/N furrowed her brows. "I think you might be confused," she stated calmly but firmly. "My nephew gave this to me as a present, so it's not yours... I'm pretty sure it's mine."
Matthew chuckled softly, "That's not what I meant..." He trailed off, leaning back slightly on the stool as he took a sip of his latte.
Y/N tilted her head slightly, a puzzled expression crossing her features. "I'm so confused right now," she admitted.
"You have no idea, do you?" he said, his smile growing wider.
She shook her head no , feeling a mix of amusement and frustration. "Well, then please enlighten me," she replied, raising an eyebrow in curiosity.
Matthew set the cup down with a soft clink, leaning forward slightly. His hand moved the scarf around his neck, and with a subtle movement, a small golden chain appeared from under it. His fingers reached inside his shirt, pulling out a pendant identical to Y/N's, hanging from the necklace.
"What the..." was all Y/N could mutter as she lounged forward, holding her upside-down necklace side by side with his. "I had no idea that's what you meant. My nephew talks about him all the time, but I never realized he was so popular," she said, her voice filled with wonder.
Matthew grinned, clearly enjoying her reaction. "It's always surprising to see where that little guy pops up."
"It's the first time I've met someone who knows about this book. It's such a cool coincidence." With a gentle release, Y/N let go of his necklace, but she remained there, her arms resting on the counter.
"Oh, I don't just know it, I really know it," he said with a playful smirk.
She raised an eyebrow, "Have you read it a lot or something?" she asked, "Do you also have a small child that begs for the same story every time?"
Matthew shook his head in amusement, leaning down for another bite of his avocado toast. "No," he replied, a chuckle escaping as he chewed.
"SoâŚ. just a grown man enjoying children's literature, then?" she quipped. "Not weird at all." she laughed
As Matthew swallowed, a small burst of air escaped through his nostrils, causing a soft laugh. It was incredibly funny how unaware she was of the punchline that was about to be delivered. "Y/N," he said once his mouth was clear, "I wrote the book."
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise, her playful grin faltering for a moment as she processed his words. "Wait, what?"
He was clearly enjoying her flabbergasted expression. "You heard me," he said with a smile.
It was clear that the revelation had caught her off guard, her eyes were wide and her mouth was slightly agape. "Close your mouth, you'll catch flies,"
Her mouth snapped shut, and her cheeks flushed faintly as she processed the information. "You're⌠You´re joking, right?" She managed to stammer.
"Do I look like I'm joking?" He replied, his tone playful yet somewhat serious. He continued to watch her, admiring the way her expression shifted from shock to disbelief to realization.
"Matthew?" she asked as her mind connected the dots and her mouth formed a small 'O' shape. "As in Matthew Gray Gubler?"
"The one and only." He laughed, leaning in closer, his voice quieter. "And I'd appreciate it if you didn't announce it to the whole cafĂŠ."
Her cheeks flushed once more as she galanced around, but no one seemed to be paying attention to their conversation. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed, realizing her faux pas. "You're right, I shouldn't have reacted like that. Sorry."
He, in turn, smiled at her apologetic demeanor. "No worries," he replied, before taking the final bite of his toast. "This was so good," he said pointing at it.
Y/N completely disregarded his compliment. "Oh my gosh, this is so embarrassing," she continued, starting to ramble. "I mean, no offense; I should've recognized you. I don't know what I was thinking. I really am sorry for not recognizing you."
He swallowed the bite, a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips as he watched her struggle with her embarrassment. "Why are you apologizing?" he asked, genuine curiosity in his tone.
Y/N shifted uncomfortably, her hands fidgeting on the countertop. "Well, because you're like a celebrity," she began, stumbling over her words. "I mean, I haven't seen your face on TV in a while, but I should've recognized it." She paused, searching for the right words.
"You really don't need to apologize," he assured her, his voice soft and reassuring as he leaned forward, resting his elbows on the countertop, his eyes locked with hers "Believe it or not I enjoyed being just a regular person. It's refreshing to not be recognized every now and then."
She let out a soft exhale, her embarrassment beginning to subside. "I never thought about it that way," she admitted, her hands finally stilling on the countertop.
"Most people think being recognized all the time is a perk," he mused, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips. "But sometimes, it's nice to just blend in and be treated like everyone else."
Y/N nodded thoughtfully, a small smile forming on her lips. "I can imagine," she replied softly.
"So, you mentioned your nephew earlier, what´s his name?"
"Oh, right," she chuckled softly. "His name is Ethan. Adorable little guy," she said with a warm smile on her face.
"How old is Ethan?" he inquired, genuinely interested.
"He just turned nine," Her eyes sparkled with affection as she spoke of her nephew. "He's such a sweet kid. Always full of imagination." Her voice softened with fondness, "You should see him; he's convinced Rumple Buttercup is real and has adventures all around town. Sometimes I catch him drawing pictures of Rumple saving the day in his notebook." A soft chuckle escaped her lips. "He's got quite the imagination, that oneâŚ" She paused, "Sorry, I'm rambling, aren't I?"
"No⌠No, pelase, continue." He took one more sip of his coffee before adding, "He sounds like quite a young artist."
"He really is," Y/N agreed. "He's always drawing something, whether it's Rumple or his own little creations. I've lost track of the number of drawings he's left around the house."
"You know," he began, leaning in slightly as if sharing a secret, "I'm actually in town for a book signing at the library tomorrow." his voice even quieter as he added, "I'll be dressed as Rumple Buttercup and everything."
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise, a delighted smile spreading across her face. "No way, really?" She exclaimed softly.
"Really," he affirmed with a grin.
"Oh my god, we have to go," Y/N blurted out, her enthusiasm bubbling over. "Ethan would be over the moon!"
"Unfortunately, it's sold out," he admitted, his tone apologetic.
Her face fell, disappointment washing over. "Oh noâŚ"
Before she could dwell on the disappointment, Matthew bursted into laughter. "But I might know someone who could get you in⌠This guuuuuuy" he said, playfully pointing to himself and breaking into a little dance.
Her disappointment quickly melted away as she watched Matthew's playful antics. She leaned against the counter, a wide smile spreading across her face as she giggled at his silly dance moves.
"Are you serious?" Y/N asked, her laughter still bubbling under the surface.
Matthew nodded, his expression earnest and determined. "Dead serious. I can get you invitations," he affirmed.
"You're too much!" Y/N exclaimed with a playful shake of her head, still grinning from ear to ear.
Matthew chuckled softly. "Well, what can I say? I aim to please,"
She reached across the counter, intending to express her gratitude with a light touch on his arm. "I can't thank you enough for this," she said sincerely, her voice filled with genuine appreciation.
Matthew smiled warmly as he looked into Y/N's eyes, his hand gently resting on hers "I'm the one who should be thankful," he began, "I got to enjoy this amazing toast with a delicious latte, just like a regular person. And as promised, I got some great company by a saint," he added with a playful wink, "and for free, may I add."
"Well, you did promise you would come back, so next time it's not for free,"
"Ah, you got me there," he admitted, feigning defeat. "I guess I did promise⌠And I always keep my promises."
"Good to know you're a man of your word," she replied, a playful smile dancing on her lips.
Matthew nodded, feeling a flutter of nervousness in his chest. He cleared his throat gently, watching as Y/N straightened up, her warmth lingering on his arm as she withdrew. Retrieving his phone from his pocket, he glanced up at her with a hesitant smile.
"You should⌠you know⌠give me your number... for the invites, I mean," he said, his voice slightly uncertain.
Y/N met his gaze with a warm smile. "Sure," she replied softly, reaching for her phone on the counter. After a moment of tapping on the screen, she handed it to him. "Here you go."
Matthew chuckled softly to himself. "Saint Y/N," he remarked as he saw the saved number, "I should have seen this one coming."
"Well, it's so you know it's me," she replied playfully.
Matthew grinned, sliding his phone back into his pocket. "I still can't believe I had the pleasure of meeting a saint over avocado toast,"
She chuckled, leaning slightly against the counter. "Aren't you glad John couldn't make it today?" she teased.
Matthew raised an eyebrow playfully. "Really glad," he replied "I mean, John's is probably a great guy and all, but I doubt Sunshine Brews has the budget for two saints⌠So it looks like I lucked out today."
"Well, consider it a stroke of luck for both of us then," she quipped.
The gentle dinging of the bell at the top of the front door chimed, signaling the entry of a new customer. Y/N glanced up from the counter just in time to see a young woman step inside, followed closely by a man with a briefcase slung over his shoulder. Before she could even greet the first arrivals, another group of friends strolled in, causing the bell to ring again in quick succession.
Matthew chuckled softly at the increasing activity in the cafĂŠ. "It looks like it's getting busy," he remarked.
"Rush hour," she confirmed, her gaze briefly flicking to the clock mounted on the wall.
"I should probably go," Matthew said regretfully, rising from his stool. "I've definitely taken up a pretty considerable amount of your time."
"I'm glad you did," she said sincerely.
"I will text you later... about the ⌠invites, I mean," he trailed off, clearly a bit flustered by his own suggestion.
Y/N couldn't help but laugh softly at his flustered response. "Bye, Matthew,"
"Bye, Y/N," Matthew replied with a smile, his gaze lingering for a moment before he turned towards the door. "See you and Ethan tomorrow," he added, waving slightly as he exited.

âStay the night for observation?â there was a hopeful lilt to Dickâs question. But he wasnât focused on it, his lips parting to answer before his mind caught up.
âYeah, sure.â Vaguely he knew he wasn't acting like himself. And based on Nightwingâs frown his older brother also knew he was a bit out of sorts. Except that when pressed, he'd claimed to be fine. Dick walked out of the infirmary heavy concern written across his features. He promised to come back as quickly as he could. It was just a quick in-and-out mission, especially with the several leaguers coming to aid the Titans. Dick would be back fairly soon. He could stay for a bit longer. No biggie.Â
He breathed deeply, eyes preoccupied with watching his fingers pick at the sheets. He wasn't lying he was fine. Physically at least. It's just that what heâd seen was burned into his mind and wouldnât leave the forefront of his brain.Â
As a new standard of procedure for time travel the JLD would poke through your brain to make sure nothing world-ending was ahead. And he hadn't witnessed anything earth-shattering concerning the general population. But he had experienced something world-changing for him. He's lucky Zatana just let him go with a laugh after her inspection.Â
He could feel his face warm at the memory. He didn't expect, not in his wildest dreams to ever have a chance with you. But he saw it clearly with his own two eyes, his body over yours. His very nude body rutting into your equally as naked form. And oh if that wasn't doing things to him, like the simmering heat that spread from his lower abdomen and stretched across every inch of his skin. His crush on you was in his mind inconsequential. Never mind the fact that he was attracted to you from day one. Â
Youâd met a few months ago, a worldwide emergency that drove you out of your more âI work aloneâ type of heroics. Afterward, you were invited to join the big leagues and he was adamant about asking you out. Not only was he attracted to you physically but you ticked off every other category for him, you were very competent, easy to get along with, funny, considerate, and matched his snark. However, that fell through the cracks when someone on the JSA beat him to it. Your swift âI don't date people I work withâ shutting down any further pursuit on his side. That didn't mean you couldn't be friends. And friends you were, and after countless missions together you were finally hanging out with him outside the mask.Â
He was content with that. No really! Having you around as a friend was way better than the alternative. You two just clicked. And he wanted to preserve that even if that meant not being the one you call baby. But his little foray into the future mightâve changed things.Â
Flashes of your sweat-slick body arching into him invaded his mind. Your fingers clinging to his shoulders as his future self's hands roamed your body. You were just as pretty as he imagined. His eyes flickered around the empty room. No one was behind the curtain separating his bed from the other cot. With that in mind, he let his hand slip underneath the waistband of his boxers. He shivered once his fingers met the heated base of his throbbing length. He squeezed remembering the way your breasts fit in his palms.Â
Those beautiful sounds he was driving out of you. They still bounced around his skull. A tone he'd never heard from you but would give anything to hear again. He bit his lower lip, leaning his head back as he began a steady pace. His eyes shut as he recalled every detail. Twisting his hand mid-shaft at the way your breathy voice called his name. The punched out âTimâs!â bringing heat to his face.Â
The sight of your pretty pussy glistening with his spend was mouth-watering, lovely folds all wet and messy because of him. He felt his hips jerk into his grasp, thick pearly beads sliding down his fingers. God the way your gorgeous eyes rolled back, your pleasure leaving red lines across his back. He mewled at the image. You were so perfect. His other hand was about to busy itself by pinching his pink nipples when the security system called out your alias, Signaling your arrival at the watchtower.Â
He looked down to his lap, the glossy mess on his thighs, his dick slick with his pre-cum, your voice just in his ear begging for more. Fuck. He cupped his flush cock as he waddled into the bathroom intent on finishing. Locking the door just in case as he fisted his cock, the wet slap echoing in the small restroom. He groaned, eyes rolling back as he recalled how your voice broke on his cock, how you desperately claimed to be his. And you could be.Â
He whimpered. There's a chance for what he saw to be real. If he played his cards right you'd be-
       âFuck!â
His palm covered his mouth barely managing to stop the long whine from slipping past his lips as he released himself into the toilet. Thick spurts painted the ceramic just as his seed had painted your flesh. He felt dizzy. But your voice from behind the door pulled him from his lewd fantasies.Â
âYo red you okay?â He cleared his throat and replied with a quick yeah. Flushed down his sticky cum and washed his hands before stepping out. You were sat at the edge of his cot, in full gear sans your mask. He wondered if you were scheduled to go off with the Titans. If so you were going to be late, strangely the thought made him blush.
âHey,â you chimed. A smile in your voice as you searched through a large tote bag?
âHi.â You looked up at his hoarse tone, sharp eyes searching him to sus out any injuries. He saw when your shoulders relaxed, finding nothing of outward concern. He was glad that you didnât comment on his flushed complexion. Probably because he was always flushed around you.Â
âSo.. I spoke to Z what's this about time travel?â He rolled his eyes with a grin. Nosy, you were also very nosy.Â
âNothing serious except that I should really change the layout of the nest, got in and out way too quickly.â He slid back into bed allowing you to hand him a smaller bag. âWhat's this?âÂ
âContrabandâ you winked. He opened said âcontrabandâ and felt butterflies fill his stomach. Inside was a mini care package, a post-it with your scrawled âget better soonâ attached to your Nintendo Switch. There was also a sandwich, a bag of chips, and apple slices. He smiled at the Zesti Cola you included. He knew you were more of a Soder Cola person so you mustâve gone out of your way.Â
âYou shouldn't have.â He flushed. You shrugged, standing up to stretch.Â
âI was already packing for a mission and heard you were here so yeah.â You waved off. âOh here's the charger.âÂ
    âWhat about you?â
âI packed my DS, that and we should be in and out pretty quick so itâs only for the drive.â A device on your wrist pinged dragging your attention from him. âShoot I gotta go! See ya later!âÂ
As he looked through his game options, his lips pulled into a smile, sure you were friends now. But now he knew there was a possibility to be more. He just had to figure out how.

my sea wolf is named Thorgeim Merlskyfkyn; since roe surnames are gendered by -syn/-wyn suffixes (meaning son/daughter), i did some linguistic research and decided -kyn would be the most likely gender-neutral suffix (derived from 'klin/klind' meaning child, but not -klyn, as 'klyn' already means 'small')
so! they chose their current name! per my character notes:
They were born into a pirate's life as Ofangeim Merlskyfwyn. Always on the heels of their father, Merlskyf, they were a formidable little Sea Wolf since they were old enough to carry an axe, unafraid of much larger opponents. However, when they elected to change their surname from Merlskyfwyn to Merlskyfkyn, a rift began to grow between them and their traditionalist crew-family. Eventually the tension became too much, and, so far as their family knew, they simply vanished at the docks one day.
they replaced 'ofan' (clear) with 'thor' (pronounced 'tor', meaning torn, symbolizing their choice to tear away from their family), but kept 'geim' (meaning jewel)
common nicknames include 'torgi' (with torgy/torgie as valid permutations) and 'shark'. it's also fine to address them as 'captain' since that's their rank in the maelstrom. they'll roll with almost anything they recognize as referring to them though
sorta the same deal with pronouns; any pronouns are fine, but they don't particularly like being referred to as a woman or man (or worse, boy/girl). the only time that's allowed is if it's For The Bit, or if they're dealing with literal children (and even then they'll correct it before they draw their axe)
Roegadyn players, tell me about your character's name!
What was your thought process behind it? Does it mean something important? Does it follow Sea Wolf/Hellsguard conventions or does it draw on other cultures? Is it the same as their birth name or has it changed? Can other people pronounce it? Do they go by any nicknames or shorten it for convenience?
#have decided that Emmanellain only canonically referred to them as 'old girl' once and they just. grinned homicidally#and gave him a very quick lesson about sea wolf surnames before requesting he revise that fun little nickname to 'friend' or the like#while making it very clear that they weren't ~threatening~ him but rather correcting an error in etiquette. lmfao#they're not a murderhobo but they ARE unquestionably brutal and have a Reputation. their nickname in limsa is 'the admiral's pet shark'#and they take their captain rank pretty seriously despite appearances. they also take their WoL role seriously (also despite appearances)#but that's mostly related to their belief in karma-farming (basically they think the best way to be lucky is to surround one's self with--#--lucky people. so if they BECOME lucky for the people around them via various heroics then thorgeim will in turn become extra lucky)#(granted they've had their faith in that shaken quite a bit but that's why they took so quickly to astrologian practices lmfao)#(outside of that they're pretty exclusively a warrior. shockingly not a rogue though i'm eyeballing viper after the next expac comes out)#(also Maybe reaper?? they do need some kind of dps class imo but rogue doesn't suit them. they're not even a little bit stealthy.)#ffxiv#stirring up trouble#long post#also: prev i love your roes!!! Eliloh in particular feels like the kind of soft-spite-for-other-rpers character i'd make. absolutely a vibe#but i love all of them. poor merlgraeb and gilded antler...maybe it'll work out in another lifetime ;w;

Itâs really fascinating to compare the way Agatha handles the Heterodyne Legacy compared to her father and uncle. Because these are the two known generations of âHeroicâ Heterodynes after a long, long legacy of the Heterodyne family being known primarily as Evil Bastards - but they have such a totally opposite relationship with that villainous legacy.
Bill and Barry grew up deep inside that Evil Heterodyne Legacy and know all about how truly rotten it really is. Their father was an Old Heterodyne to the bone and an Extremely Reprehensible Human Being. Like, not just Cartoon Evil Overlord stuff - according to the Novels, he forced Bill and Barryâs mom to marry him by threatening her family. And he tried to kill them because they werenât evil enough to his tastes.Â
And when their mom killed him to protect her sons, the Castle killed her in retaliation. The very manifestation of the Heterodyne Legacy has cost them their beloved mother who just saved their life. And all of this in addition to the fact a non-evil Heterodyne was really an unthinkable concept when the Boys started - meaning they had to work extra hard to distance themselves from their family if they wanted anyone outside of Mechanicsburg to trust them.
And Heterodyne Boys worked very very hard to prove to the world that theyâre not monsters. Both to fight off against the constant suspicions that they were monsters, and because they most likely wanted as little to do with their fatherâs legacy as Spark-ly possible. For them the Heterodyne Legacy was mostly kind of a Curse, the thing that tormented their mother and killed her and almost killed them, the thing that makes people wary of them.
And as such, they distanced themselves from anything thatâs even remotely to do with that old legacy of monsters, from anything evil or scary or messy or ugly. Much to the chagrin of the Castle, the House of Heterodyneâs many other monsters, the Jager Horde Mechanicsburgâs proud Evil Minion population and many others who felt abandoned by them for the sake of PR.
Then thereâs Agatha Heterodyne. And itâs not just that Agatha grew up in a post-Heterodyne-Boys world where the general populace associates the family name less with evil barbarous mad kings and more with good-natured heroism. Where even those who remember the Old Heterodynes are at least willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. Where even those who would like her to be like the Old Heterodynes are at least willing to give her some wiggle room to express herself....
It is all of that, but more importantly Agatha didnât grow up as a Heterodyne at all.
She grew up as Agatha Clay, with the Spark-Suppressing Locket that dulled her mind and made her a miserable klutzy mess who couldnât do anything right. She grew up hating the constant feeling of being powerless.
And discovering that sheâs a Heterodyne came up⌠pretty close to realizing sheâs a Spark, and both of these revelations gave her a certain kind of Power that she never got to have before. She is now both a powerful Spark and a powerful political player in this grand Europa political chess board.Â
And as much as she has the same heroic values and upbringing as the Boys did (courtesy of Barry and the Construct Duo), not growing up so up-close-and-personal with the worst consequences of the Old Heterodyneâs evil means sheâs not as immediately repulsed by it like the Boys were.Â
She encountered all of these old monstrous pieces of the Heterodyne Legacy - the Jagers, the Castle, Mechanicsburg, even just the fear her name can put into peopleâs hearts - not as the Evil Legacy Forced Upon Her. But stuff that was taken away from her, and she had to earn back. And in a world stacked so heavily against her, so determined to rob her of her agency and newfound sense of power, these things represent the assertion and security of her power.
For the Heterodyne Boys, the worst thing they could ever imagine being was monsters - like their father and the rest of their family was. For Agatha Heterodyne, the worst thing she could imagine is being powerless again. She would take being seen as a monster a thousand times over being condescended and ignored ever again.Â
Being seen as a monster isnât actually all that bad at all, she discovered.Â
All of these things together make Agatha not quite the second generation of Actually Heroic Heterodyne or just another link in the Old Heterodyne Legacy - but another new kind of Heterodyne altogether. One that can both retain a moral code and embrace the familyâs monstreness at the same time.Â

a lot of people who've watched gravity falls think that stanford is unsympathetic or a bad character, and most of the people who dont think that think stanford is at least selfish and flawed, which i can't really refute, but it always made me feel so awful, and i never realized why until now.
if you look at stanford pines as an allegory for a child with a developmental disability like autism or a "gifted kid", then a lot of the pieces start to fall together.
â ď¸spoilers for gravity falls, the website, and maybe a bit of the book of billâ ď¸
stanford pines was born with an "extra finger", a symbol for a disability. for a while, everyone thought it was a flaw. he was teased and shunned by his peers,
but then, people began to notice his genius. it even says on thisisnotawebsitedotcom.com, when you enter "sixer" or "stanford", that he has a "hyper-ability", something many people will say about "gifted" autistic people.
as soon as people started to point this out, everything felt like it made sense to ford. as a person who grew up with autism, i can relate to feeling alienated from my peers, and wondering "why? why, in a world made for normal people, was i made wrong?"
that kind of thought can lead to a sort of delusion.. that maybe you were destined for something great. maybe you were different because one day you would use it to change the world. i believe this is the way ford felt when he was approached by bill
bill came to ford and told him everything he'd ever wanted to hear.. that this feeling was real. that he was destined for greatness. that he was better, smarter, more special than the ones who had shunned him.
bill told ford that building the portal would make him a hero, make people finally see him as more than an extra finger. the one problem?
bill was a liar.
he used ford's selfish thoughts to trick him into making a gateway that would end the world. he used the years of mockery, the alienation, the loneliness, and he came to ford when he was alone, trapped, with nowhere to go.
he offered ford the opportunity to get back at a world that was built to knock him down at every turn, a world full of people who would never understand him. he offered to make ford a god.
and ford refused
he refused, even in a world that had done nothing but tear him down, to hurt others just to feel better about himself. he only had a few people who had ever cared for him, and yet, he was willing to destroy his life's work to save everyone who had made him miserable.
remember, he fully intended to stay trapped in the portal for all of eternity. that's why he was so frustrated when stanley brought him back. what we saw as a heroic act from stanley, ford saw as stanley refusing the sacrifice he had made to save him. he didn't thank stanley because nobody thanked him. no one thanked him for his hard work or sacrifice or his years of suffering just to protect stanley.
that, of course, led to this scene, which many people saw as stanford's most frustrating moment.
i think this post sums up really well why stanford, in this dire moment, would choose to insult his brother. because stanley was being selfish, too. stanley refused to help save the world, save his brother, all because ford never said "thank you."
they were both selfish. everyone is. they didn't fight because they were bad people, but because they both saw things from their own perspective. they were each hopelessly lonely without each other, but both too prideful to admit it.
in the end, they make up, and both follow their true dream. not money, not fame, just staying together.
stanford pines is not a bad, unsympathetic character. he is a complex, misdirected, "gifted" child. his only flaw was not seeing that he wasn't alone. his family was right there to support him the whole time.

First Crush - 6
After the park, all Abby could talk about was her day with Bucky. Even when her eyes were closed, she kept chatting away, past her bedtime. Part of you found it adorable & the other part had you worried. Abby is way to attached for your liking.
Jason was an absent father, but that still doesn't mean Abby didn't miss him or wasn't affected by his death. He died in a plane crash. His daredevil ways that first attracted you to him was the same reason you were alone now. He wasn't brave & heroic, dying for his country or on a mission. He was foolish and selfish, hot-dogging it when he lost control of his aircraft. Most people dropped the subject after you say he died in a plane crash, assuming it was work related. He was stupid. Always chasing the next high. The next rush. He had a wife and baby at home. He should have been thinking of you and Abby.
You couldn't deny the attraction you felt to Bucky, but look at his job. He was an Avenger for God's sake! The bad guys he chases were much worse than your common criminals. The risks were much higher. You were second-guessing you decision in exposing Abby to Bucky. Not that you could truly stop it. Abby was drawn to him at first sight.
*****
"There you are." Bucky enters your office & sits in the chair opposite your desk.
Pushing your lunch to the side, "Hey Buck, did you need something?"
"For the past couple days I thought I'd see you in the cafeteria."
"Sounds like high school," laughing, "I was studying in the library." Bucky frowns at you, "I usually bring home lunch so i eat in my office. It's easier."
Leaning forward, "Well, tomorrow, would you have lunch with me? We don't have to stay here. We can go to this diner around the corner. Their burgers are pretty great." He picks up that you're unsure. "C'mon, doll. I know you want to."
You laugh at his ego. I mean, he wasn't wrong. "Ok."
"I'll swing by around 1p. Is that too late?"
"No, that's fine."
"Then its a date."
"It's not a date. It's lunch." He doesn't say anything, just gives you a look. Its a date.
******
The following night at the gym with Sam, Sam broaches a subject that the others were shying away from. "I saw you leaving with Y/N earlier."
"We went to the diner for lunch."
"So, what's going on with you two?"
Bucky shrugs, "Just 2 friends having lunch."
"MmmHmmm. Do you know what you're doing?"
"What do you mean?"
"Y/N's a special breed. She's a single mother. She don't need you wasting her time. You take on extra responsibilities if you start dating her."
"Relax."
"I'm just saying, you can easily find someone else to kill time with. You string her along, she's not the only one you'll be hurting. From what i hear, her daughter is obsessed with you."
"We went on a picnic & lunch. We're still figuring out what this is."
"And that's fine. Just keep in mind she brings more to the table than just herself."
"Ok, got it. Lecture over?"
Sam shrugs and leaves the gym.
*****
"Mama?"
"Yes."
"When am I seeing Bucky again?"
"I don't know, baby. He's very busy with work." You feel a little guilty at how badly Abby wants to see Bucky & you've been having lunch with him everyday for the past couple weeks. He's been dropping by your office with his own lunch to spend time with you.
"Can I asks him? I can draws him a letter." You laugh but stop when you see the earnest little look on her face.
"You know what? That sounds like a very good idea. Maybe you can invite him over to watch a movie & then dinner?"
Abby screams, climbing on the couch to give you a wet kiss on your cheek. "Bucky comes to my house??"
You release a deep breath, "Yes, you can invite him here." She runs off to her room to draw his letter. You lean your head back on the couch hoping you made the right choice.
*****
LIke clockwork, Bucky shows up at 1pm for lunch with you. You slide Abby's drawing across the desk to him. He has a smile on his face even before he opens it. When he opens it, his smile freezes and he looks between you and Abby's drawing. You cover your lips with your fingertips while you watch him, trying to suppress a smile.
"Doll, you're going to have to help me out here. Wh...what am I looking at?"
"What? You can't figure it out?" Bucky is put on the spot. "You're lucky Abby isn't here." You tap the left side of the picture. "What's this?"
"It looks like guts and eyeballs."
"Bucky!!"
"I don't know."
"It's spaghetti and meatballs."
"Oh! Ok. So this is us," indicating 3 stick figures in the middle. "And...I need help again. "This isn't brains."
"Jesus! You're terrible at this. It's a bowl of popcorn. Abby is trying to invite you over for a movie and dinner at our place."
Bucky laughs so hard, he has to rest his head on your desk. "So, I'm not invited over to commit a murder, because I don't do that anymore."
"My baby does NOT murder people! I'm not sure I want you over anymore."
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry." He grabs your hand from across the desk & kisses your knuckles. "Please don't take away the invite. I want to come over."
"Will you be free this Saturday?"
"Yes, I leave next week for a mission, but I'll be here on Saturday."
"Ok," you text him your address. "Maybe 3p? It'll be after her nap & we can watch a movie before dinner."
"Thank you, I'll be there." He give you his charming smile & you have to look away. You hope this isn't a mistake.

disney villains ranked by how good they would be as a toxic romantasy love interest
10. gaston. make no mistake, he ranks highly in toxicity, and would no doubt excel in one of those romance novels about douchebros reenacting the most dangerous game with nondescript brunettes. but thereâs simply no way he can hold his own against the faeries and monsters and sorcerers youâll meet in chapter three.
09. hades. lord of the underworld is a fantastic gig, but i personally feel that his reliance upon comedy and snark somewhat undercuts the promising menace of him shouting that he owns you. heâd make a real charmer of a sidequest flirtation, though, if you survive it.
08. captain hook. manipulation is the bread and butter of your common or garden toxic romantasy love interest, and we all saw the way he played poor tinker bell. it ruled. do me next. extra credit for an underplayed tragic immortal angle (hey, heâs stuck in neverland, too!) and being figuratively and literally haunted by his own doom.
07. shan yu. for a villain with limited screentime he really has a way of setting the imagination aglow. what if your village was razed by a warlord and you ended up encountering him repeatedly in battle and for all the casually contemptuous evil heâs previously displayed he faced you with respect as an equal (and he *remembered* you) and oh no heâs hot. what then. he also gets bonus points because i think they made his hawk a beautiful lady shapeshifter in the live-action movie. two for the price of one.
06. the evil queen. she sets a high bar for unhealthy obsession, and âmad scientistâ is an underrepresented flavor in this genre, plus the magic mirror has a lot of creepyhot stalking potential. sheâs pretty high-maintenance, though, and her vanity simply wouldnât allow your heroic quest and/or the other corner of the love triangle to share the spotlight with her. she might be better off as a supporting character in the deadly decadent court who calls you menacing endearments and strokes your face and gives you the feeling that youâre suddenly in way over your head.
05. frollo. oh, i hear you gnashing your teeth and wringing your hands. ânot frollo!â yes frollo. if i was reading a romantasy novel and the villain told the protagonist that they were just imagining a rope around her beautiful neck, i would feel ripped off if they werenât at *least* furiously making out in secret by the climax. your conscience may demur, but who hasnât secretly yearned to have a city burned to the ground over them?
04. morâdu. who? you know morâdu. the big fuckoff bear from brave. the big fuckoff bear who once was a brooding, hulking celtic prince who massacred his whole family and underwent a devastating transformation-by-curse into a literal monster. itâs only his sheer bad luck that he ended up as a minor character in a heartwarming mother-daughter narrative and not the villain protagonist of a romantasy thatâs half beauty and the beast and half texas chain saw massacre. but, with your help, we can change that.
03. jafar. he doesnât rank more highly because itâs less fun when theyâre only creepy to you and obsessed with you for, like, five minutes at the end, but still. he pulls it off *so* well, heâs got just the right kind of megalomaniac agenda, and he gets extra credit for style and the hypnosis thing. cue the agonizing yet erotic internal monologues from our protagonist about how he *compels* them.
02. TIE! between two gentlemen who operate on very similar levels of charming toxicity and would therefore thrive in this setting:
hans. itâs honestly a shame heâs in a disney childrenâs movie and not a five hundred page novel called a realm of ice and snow or whatever. he would not only be endgame but he would also have a small army of booktokers calling our protagonist names for doubting his love for them after one eensy little lying to them and leaving them to die incident. heâd be exactly as awful as he is canonically and heâd come out smelling like a rose.
dr. facilier. the *perfect* balance of tragic backstory versus inexcusable jackassery, and no one is immune to the charms of a roguish magician dabbling in that which he should not. heâll sell you the prettiest vision of a future together that you ever did see, and then heâll sell you out to evil forces to further his personal agenda, and he will not be sorry about it. heâll call you doll while draining every drop of your blood for The Ritual and he wonât lose a wink of sleep. no romantic groveling apology from this one, either, iâm afraid. but heâd be so worth it.
01. maleficent. evil sexy faery who lives on something called the forbidden mountain, who devoted sixteen years of her life to tormenting a beautiful peasant with a secret royal lineage, up to and including kidnapping the âcorrectâ love interest to prevent them from saving our protagonist from her own wicked plans? if there *isnât* already a romantasy novel out in the world that is blatant aurora/maleficent fic, i will eat my hat.
honorable mentions:
rasputin. sure, heâs only a disney villain by technicality. but what romantasy protagonist worth their salt would kick the rotting lich-priest who murdered their whole family, and is trying to murder them, out of bed on a technicality?
bruno madrigal, who wasnât a villain at all, but by gods he should have been. secret uncle who lives in the walls and is tragically haunted by your seemingly immutable shared fate *and* youâre his *favorite*? the gothic romantasy fans would devour him.
#all that said if you catch me letting dr. facilier use me for the ritual DO NOT save me#venus made good cases for gothel and tremaine but my specific brand of mommy issues render me incapable of finding them sexy unfortunately#i also had to limit myself to humanoid or at least once humanoid. if i added the furries iâd be here all day.#nixe has a word.

Reworking my White Knight design. Notes under the cut as per usual
There are three primary inspirations that I'm working off of:
The Three Muskateers
Knight's Armor
Masquerade Costumes
I've been trying to think about it from two practical perspectives, Darling's, and my own.
For Darling she needs to be able to suit up fairly quickly, and have enough coverage to completely hide her identity. It also can't be too heavy or she risks slowing herself down.
And then for me I just don't want to draw overly complicated armor every time I draw her in action. So she needs to be at least somewhat recognizable as a knight without the design getting overly busy. I also think it's very boring to have this wonderlandian vigilante just be a normal knight.
So here's some stuff about all that!
Her outfit starts with a base layer (shirt, trousers, ect.) then she adds padding, and pieces of leather armor on her arms and legs. Then over that she adds a very light flowy tunic to disguise some of that protection (it's good to keep your enemies guessing, and it provides a nice non-threatening appearance for the people you're trying to help. Princess lessons can be very helpful when it comes to public reputation.) Then she has plate armor on her chest, as well as greaves and boots. It's all very pieced together out of stuff she's scavenged from around wonderland and in abandoned lockers. None of it is made to go together.
The belt doesn't have a scabbard, she keeps her sword across her back, but it does have lots of loops for carrying extra stuff that Darling wants to have on hand. When she finds various foods and potions and other weird little tools in wonderland she can tie them to her belt for easy access during emergencies.
The hair is a whole separate ordeal. First she puts it under a head covering that kind of serves as a bald cap (but also hides her very recognizable hair even if the hat and wig come off). Then she puts the wig on top, and puts on the porcelain mask. The mask is well-fitted, enchanted to disguise her voice, and can be tied at the back under the wig. And after all that she puts on a very fetching hat. There's no real purpose to it, she just thinks it looks cool
Add cape for extra heroic effect! Now you can channel all your repressed rage into your alternate identity while hitting things with swords and providing aid to the masses
#coffeepaintart#eah#ever after high#darling charming#eah redesign#yes i have thought about this cartoon for children designed to sell dolls from almost a decade ago for far too long why do you ask

i saw someone headcanon a miraculous ladybug x descendants rise of red crossover with Red as Chat Noir and Chloe as Ladybug. ButâŚ. hear me out. Switch em around
Red as Ladybug
She already has the red and black scheme down
Sheâs very smart and cunning on the field and is shown to use her environment to her advantage
You know sheâs one to come up with elaborate plans (just like her elaborate pranks)
She's not afraid to stand up to bullies due to her strong sense of justice and speak her mind, but she's also not afraid to bend the rules a little
Her double life: getting into trouble for rebellious acts so no one expects her to be the heroic and responsible Ladybug
(Honestly just use her fit during her intro song.)
Yoyo = pocketwatch?
Chloe as Chat Noire
She's a straight A student who is involved in loads of activities including founder of the french club, president of the Auradon historical society and captain of the swordfighting team - a representation of a perfect princess
Giving her the mask allows her to relax from the expectations of being the perfect princess
Imagine the double life: her being a goody two shoes in the day (very princess, very demure) but a flirtatious and charming (its in her name) black cat at night
Also, she loves to make puns
She'd get blue eyes instead of the green black cat eyes
And I think weâd still get Bridget/Queen of Hearts as Hawkmoth/Mayura and uses her card deck to reign terror on Auradon
Can't forget the love square and roommate hijinks.
I think we would get a reverse love square tho
Chloe's been enamored by Red ever since they started at Auradon Prep and watched as Red stood up to a bully on the first day on campus.
Red perceives Chloe as a privileged princess that's naive and soft and one of the snotty popular ones. Chloe eventually shows her that she's more than what Red initially thought she was. Chloe can't bring herself to flirt with Red outright given the whole Perfect Princess expectations everyone else has of her.
As Ladybug, Red develops a crush on Chloe's Chat Noire who is ever so charming and makes puns all day, but unafraid to match Red's Ladybug's wit while being a knight in shining armor (unafraid to take the hits for her).
Chloe's Chat Noire sees Red's Ladybug who is very focused on the mission and after seeing her convoluted plan work with their first villain, allows Ladybug to most of the heavy planning, instead choosing to support her as her knight in shining armor. Chloe's a lot better at flirting as Chat Noire without all the pressure from everyone else around her.
The two are roommates, and thank goodness neither of them are ever present when the Queen of Hearts uses her Deck, nor do they press on about any of the lame excuses each one of them gives the other (somehow, neither of them end up running into each other)

Writing Notes: Allegory
Allegory - a story that alludes to other literary works or comments on common conditions of life.
When a work or its passages are allegorical, they are similar to an event, character or setting in a story that is universally known: a fable, a parable in the Bible, or a Greek myth.
Allegories have 2 levels of narration occurring at the same time: the actual events, characters and setting presented in the story, and the ideas they are intended to convey or the significance they bear.
3 Literary Forms that you might use when discussing allegory:
Fable. A fable is a short story, often featuring animals with human traits, to which writers attach morals or explanations.
Parable. Parables are most often associated with Jesus Christ, who used them in His teachings. They are short narratives that exemplify religious truths or insights.
Myth. Myths are stories, either short or long, that are often associated with religion and philosophy and with various races and cultures. They embody the social and cultural values of the civilization during which they were written.
When writing about allegory, determine whether all or part of the story is allegorical.
Sustained allegory. This occurs when a storyâs allegory continues throughout the work, from beginning to end. The sole purpose is to convey the dominant idea. The idea is emphasized rather than the storyâs actual (literal) details. For example, The Pilgrimâs Progress is a story about Christianâs difficult journey from his home in the City of Destruction to his new home in the Heavenly City. But the main idea is about the rigors and trials of Christian life.
Episodic allegory. This occurs when a story contains an allegorical episode or passage. The passage is based on both the actual (literal) events in the story and the allegorical elements. For example, during one scene in the film Star Wars, Darth Vader imprisons Luke Skywalker, and Skywalker must exert all his skill and strength to get free and to overcome Vader. This temporary imprisonment signifies those moments of doubt and discouragement that people experience while trying to overcome obstacles. Similar heroic deeds have been represented allegorically in the stories of Jason and the Argonauts and Beowulf and Grendel.
When analyzing allegory, ask yourself the following questions:
The application of allegory. Does the allegory (fable, parable, myth) refer to anything or anyone specific? Does it refer to an action or particular period of history? Or does the allegory refer to human tendencies or ideas? Does it illustrate, point by point, particular philosophies or religions? If the allegory seems outdated, how much can be applied for people living today?
The consistency of allegory. Is the allegory maintained consistently throughout the work, or is it intermittently used? Explain and detail this use.
Do extra reading and research:
To understand allegorical implications in a story, you have to become familiar with the source of the similarities.
Allegorical sources include world history, classic works of literature, and archetypal ideas, such as the âquestâ or âcoming of age.â
You might need to use a dictionary, encyclopedia, or other reference book. For example, you would not recognize that the musical West Side Story is allegorical unless you were aware of its similarities to a classic work of literature: Romeo and Juliet. Thus, to see certain implications in West Side Story, you have to have a general grasp of Shakespeareâs play.
Remember: As long as the similarities are close and consistent, your allegorical interpretations of the story will be valid.

tactiquest structure
Edit: Play tactiquest here!
so i've posted a lot about tactiquest's classes and monsters and everything on here but i haven't really talked about the non-combat subsystems much yet and i wanted to go into detail about them, bc tactiquest has very different goals from most heroic fantasy systems.
tracking inventory, travel time, worrying about actually running out of your adventuring budget, are things a lot of big-damn-heroes fantasy systems throw out because they're just paperwork that gets in the way of your cool fights. that's not the case in Tactiquest! these systems are so core to the experience that removing them will make a lot of classes unusable. the game is built around them.
travel & exploration
tactiquest explicitly assumes you're running an open-sandbox hexcrawl and is designed to support that, including the fact the game is designed around random encounters. this is the sort of thing D&D 3e expected you to do, but people ditched random encounters because they thought they were boring and tedious. so classes balanced around that attrition of resources ended up with a huge spike in power other classes couldn't match.
the boring-and-tedious problem is mostly addressed by trying to make combat really good and resolve really fast. if i fucked that up the whole thing falls apart, but so far people are liking it
the second thing that helps with random encounters is your resources don't fully restore immediately at the end of each day like they do in 3e. resting is less effective in the wilderness and resources expended are a tomorrow problem, not just a today problem. so you don't have to have 3+ fights every single day just to maintain parity - 0-2 fights per day still adds up to difficult resource management.
because the game has such a focus on it, you can have classes like the ranger actually be good at travel and exploration instead of just giving them vaguely-naturey combat abilities.
economy
in most D&D-likes, even usually OSR ones, you accrue so much gold. just as a side effect of adventuring. to the point money no longer actually matters because you can throw piles of it at any problem. this is bad. it's a system that defeats its own purpose; there are no interesting choices involving money when you have so much the only real expense is like, 50,000-gold-piece magic items.
i don't just want players to care about money, i want them to worry about money, like a normal person. you're not batman who's a billionaire as a side hobby, you're spiderman who has to deliver pizzas in between superhero work because he's got bills to pay like everyone else. so a whole lot of effort has been put into actually designing prices and treasure amounts around this dynamic.
i also hate how games will usually go "oh adventuring gives you 900,000 gold for existing but a normal person's living wage is 2 gold a month". i don't want to be fantasy jeff bezos, thanks
inventory
this is something i just lifted from OSR games outright. you can carry ten things (and tiny things don't take up an item slot). that's the whole rule.
tracking inventory can add a lot of interesting decisions to a game and adds a new lever for abilities from classes and magic items. having a character play the merchant class which gets a bunch of extra inventory slots feels really impactful. finding a bag of holding that doubles your carry capacity feels so good when you actually have to watch your inventory.
supply
the only thing i felt was really unenjoyable when running games with strict inventory limits was tracking rations for each character that you eat every night; it felt too much like busywork with not enough payoff. so in Tactiquest rations are abstracted into a single Supply stat that's tied to the party rather than any individual character.
you can only restock Supply in towns, and it drops by 1 each time you rest. you can sleep without resting and this won't cost supply, but you won't regain any HP or other resources. this gives you the impactful decision-making of tracking rations without the annoyance of "okay it's been a day of travel, everyone make sure you dock a ration from your sheet" like twice per session
Supply is one of the things that slowly drains your funds and gives you a reason to keep seeking out treasure, tying back into the economy. it also gives merchants and rangers some extra mechanical levers for their class abilities to pull on.
