Tiny Review: Hero 2002. Poetic sword and brush.

When I first watched it a long time ago, the ending disappointed me. All that build up, and for what?

Watching it now, I understand it’s a reminder of might makes right, and that power is a complex balance between goals and costs.

I still think the movie is melodrama though 😂

Nitpick: The ending could have signaled better that the king was deeply affected by the entire ordeal. Maybe with a monolog promise that the world will be peaceful after unification under his rule. That he too pays the cost of world peace with eternal loneliness and fear of assassinations.

watched hero (2002) for one of my hist classes and My God what a masterpiece of filmmaking and storytelling. i've never seen a historical film do it like this. deliberately drawing attention to mythic or legendary aspects of The Epic Story. directly prompting viewers to question whether This is the way this story happened. i'm blown away i genuinely think this might be the best film i've ever seen just on the basis of like. filmmaking as a whole. not to mention the combat choreography i mean holy shit.

Ice Planet Stormer

“Calling all heroes, it’s Hero February!”

Inspired by ben.cossy’s Ice Planet Stormer MOC released last year and the recent boom in Ice Planet 2002 nostalgia, I’m happy to finally release Ice Planet Stormer from his cryosleep!

This creation is Alpha Leader Stormer, refitted for a Brain Attack mission in the frozen wastes of a mysterious planet far from the Makuro Belt. Amidst the glacier barrens and tundra bluffs of this distant world, the evil brains have been spotted on another scheme!

For years now I’ve wanted to attach the Nexo Knights sword as a wristblade for a hero, and Stormer here was the perfect candidate! While the end result did involve some part modification, I think it’s a perfect Ice Planet substitute for his Brain Attack sword!

I was also keen to keep the original blue/black/trans-orange color scheme, but this gave me quite a few problems with the torso, which was colorlocked in pearl dark gray and flat silver and so didn’t give me many options. Fortunately, I was able to dye the part black! Paired with some blue shoulder addons I got from a bootleg set, he’s geared up and ready to open up a can of brain freeze!
