What is Hernia Repair? What are the Common Hernia Types?
Hernia Repair:
Hernia repair is also known as herniorrhaphy. It is a surgical procedure to fix a hernia. A hernia occurs when an internal tissue or organ breaks through a muscle’s hole. It is the most common surgery to be performed.
Types of Hernia
Below are some of the most common types of hernias
Inguinal Hernia: An inguinal hernia called as groin hernia. It is the most common groin hernia type. An inguinal hernia occurs in inguinal canal. You may see a small bulge on the pelvic bone. It is caused due to abdominal tissue pushing through an opening in your lower abdominal wall. This bulge may be painful when you cough, lift any weights or bend over. However, most hernias don’t cause pain. It doesn’t repair on it’s own and lead to life threatening complication. Most men affects with this inguinal hernia.
Femoral hernias: Fatty tissue or intestine part stick out into the groin at the top the inner thigh. Femoral hernias are less common than inguinal hernias and mostly affect older women.
Umbilical Hernia: Fatty tissue or intestine part stick out into the abdomen near the belly button (naval).

The cause of hiatal hernias are not understood fully, but weakness of diaphragm with pressure on the stomach or aging.

I feel like one of the most insidious types of sanism is this thing I’ve noticed lately where mentally ill people report that their doctors just refuse to treat them or acknowledge their health problems, especially GI doctors; they’ll refuse to read the patient chart, tell the patient they’re lying about their officially recorded diagnoses and test results, and insist they see a therapist instead when usually the patient has been in therapy for years already
Tumblr media
my own GI doctor refused to treat my ulcers or hernia or test me for gastroparesis after multiple scope exams and told me it’s all in my head, and my GP is currently gaslighting me about not having scoliosis and never having it on my record when I have actual adaptive devices prescribed to me
only my psychiatrist and therapist, dermatologist, pulmonologist, gynecologist and physical therapists take me seriously as a mature and cognizant person
this is really disturbing to me for obvious reasons

This image is 100 percent my impossibly perfect type of dream man.
EDIT: This is an ILLUSTRATION created in AI by a prompt I wrote posted to my Tumblr called AI Staches and Bulges. No, the man doesn’t have an inguinal hernia. Yes, it’s fake. It’s clearly a fantasy image. Duh…

You always seem to be stuffing yourself to the brim. It's hard to believe you're human, sometimes. Sorry if this is intrusive, I know you don't do that type of content, which is fine, BUT I AM CURIOUS:
do you ever feel sick? I was looking at your recent posts and like, surely 4 dinners and such a tightly packed tummy would have you feeling nauseous or maybe a little nervous?
Do you ever have any actual fear that your meals will come back up, or are you just always in 'normal' pain from being so full? and, if you feel up to it, don't feel shy about mentioning in your future posts whether or not you were on the verge of losing it or not. I wanna know just how far you're pushing yourself.
I’ve just been at it for a long time now, but sometimes I kinda shock myself with how much I’m able to eat in a sitting 😬
Honestly even when I’m packed to the brim, I’m only nervous that like I’m gonna tear something into a hernia or something so I try to take it easy on the getting up and everything.
But that’s only with food, the only times I’ve actually gotten sick was because I packed myself to the brim and got super drunk as well. So that’s why I don’t do beer content all that much cause it’s not frequent but sometimes it can happen 😁

Eclipse the kitten update
(please don't glitch tumblr it's the tenth time I've tried!!!)
Tumblr media
Previous post
Welp! Winter's boy has a respiratory infection. It was causing him to wheeze so to the vet we went! Luckily it wasn't a diaphram issue (which had us worried because of his umbilical hernia). His hernia also came up normal on his x-rays.
(X-rays left out because might bother people, but I can send them on request)
He's on meds several times a day and taking them like a champ, but had to be put in a pen with limited free playtime (because nothing will stop Mr Indestructible from running around the house with all the grace of a car with no breaks). We DID get a reply after just a week from a really nice person who was going to give us one (shocked us let me tell ya because it was BIG dog sized). Unfortunately, they left it outside for us to pick up and someone else just... took it. Right out of their yard. And since all we had was a small cat carrier to keep him in (which was kinda cruel for more than a day or two tops), we ordered a cat playpen that we got for a decent price. We kept looking until it got here, but no luck. Still! It's a nice playpen and we have it set up so he doesn't have to jump if he doesn't want to (plus more vertical to enjoy later on). Sarah's mom also let us borrow her water fountain!
Tumblr media
We went to a new vet as ours was booked up (and he had already been wheezing a day). Everyone basically fell in love with him instantly. He left with a little toy from the tech, they gave Winter a jar of honey (one of the people in the office has bees and they wanted to give her something for caring about a kitten that most wouldn't have despite him having a treatable condition), and they've been checking in on how he is recovering (very well since I first typed this actually). He's basically got an entire vet office wrapped around his little paw.
Tumblr media
Also, the non-profit we're taking him to for his surgery had a cancelation and his got moved up to the 12th! Counting down the days yall.
Tumblr media
Because I gotta kinda mention it, this hit us where it hurts. Between the vet visit and testing, the pen, and the estimated cost for the surgery and followup, it's gonna cost us more than $2k (as long as nothing ELSE goes wrong). We're lucky that we're all super careful with our money, but there's only so much we can save up with three people below the poverty line. Still worth it though. I mean, look at this doofus
Tumblr media
He is so stubborn that we can't leave scratch posts upright because he keeps doing THIS! XD
I'm linking Winter's paypal, but I 1000% understand if you can't help out. Still, a reblog and a word or three mean a LOT to all of us so if you got a minute, I'd love some new post additions to show Winter.
(Truth be told, the only reason all the updates are posted on my tumblr is because I'm the longest winded out of the three of us and I take like 5 billion pictures. XD )
Speaking of, there WOULD be a bonus pic of him and his sister (Melanite, aka Miel) playing under my chair as my cat (Danny) looks on from a safe place, but tumblr kept glitching when I added it.
Edit: surgery update

Never mind 🫠 The ball of the foot where I actually kicked is more or less fine, but somehow the impact fucked something up behind the big toe 😭 It was mildly painful to bend at the same joint as the broken one on the other foot all yesterday, but that pain’s gotten a lot worse?? I can feel the pressure behind my toe at all times, but the pain is only sharp/shocking when it bends, so I’ve immobilized it for now which helps!
I really don’t think it’s broken because the pain is bearable as long as I don’t bend it, just confused and frustrated I guess. Whatever it is I’m sure will heal on its own but I’ve gotta say the timing on this one is not particularly convenient— if you need me I’ll be waddling around like a penguin with all of my weight supported by my underarms 😭
Tumblr media
I know I’m being a baby about this one but this is my not broken foot that I kicked with the boot on the broken one 😭

My grandpa has a inguinal hernia. He’s 82. He has dementia. He’s an asshole. He doesn’t want surgery for it. The doctors recommend it is surgically corrected but as it is small it is not an emergent/immediately necessary procedure. My mom wants him to get the surgery. My grandpa is an asshole. He has been combatant and noncompliant with medical treatment his entire life. Everything from trying to get him treatment for his pneumonia to trying to get him treatment for his mood disorder has been a struggle. I’m like “Mom. I think you should respect his bodily autonomy and not do the surgery.” he will not be compliant during the recovery. And he’s old as the hills with 1,000 other health issues. He’s not going to recover well. He’s only alive because my grandma has been handholding him his entire adult life. Let him walk around with his intestines in his balls. Jesus Christ. Old people get to a point where making them do medical procedures is unethical. It would be different if he was 82 and mostly healthy and mentally spry and just scared of surgery but with grandpa it’s a balance of quality life type of thing.
