Well guys, the PJO fandom on TikTok has now reached a new level of stupid. Only thing is that this time it isn’t about Luke… it’s about Calypso…

I just watched a video where someone asked if others find it weird to ship immortal characters with demigods from PJO (no, because it’s all fictional but whatever), then said that it’s weird that people ship Caleo. Now, do I personally like Caleo? No, because I don’t like the way she treats Leo. Do I understand that other people don’t like the ship because of the whole age thing, sure. That’s how they feel about it and that’s ok.

However… the person in this video then goes on to say that it’s weird that Calypso would be "going after" younger boys, and asks why Calypso doesn’t just try to get with other immortal beings or older heroes…. Well, I don’t know if you’ve noticed but there are a few things that are keeping Calypso from just going online and making an Immortals Only profile to find her a suitable match with someone more "her age".

Hmm, what was one of those reasons… oh yeah, BECAUSE SHE IS LITERALLY STUCK ON AN ISLAND AND CURSED BY THE GODS TO BASICALLY NEVER FIND LOVE!!!! Like, are you kidding me??? Did we forget that she literally does NOT get to choose who the gods lead to the island of Ogygia??!! Are we forgetting that mostly the only ones who are able to find her island are heroes on the brink of death?? Do we forget the reason why she is trapped on that island and exiled from the rest of the world??? Did we forget the basics of her story??

I mean, my gods! Yes, I understand not liking Calypso as a character and I understand you not liking Caleo as a ship. But for the love of the gods, at least understand her story and that the whole point is that she isn’t given a choice who gets sent to her island. All Calypso knows is that the only way she can get off that island is if she can get someone to love her back, and that she has to take whatever chances she’s given or be stuck alone forever.

She’s not a predator out there trying to actively go after younger heroes. She’s someone else that got caught up in a war between the Gods and the Titans and was cursed by the gods to essentially suffer forever. She’s someone who’s just trying to escape the wrath of the gods while only being sent a select variety of choices and chances.

Just…. For the love of everything good please reread TBotL and actually use the little bit of common sense that your brain produces while reading it.

In your Myosotis headcanon, where's Es in all of this?

Ooh, so for now, I’ve been picturing the happiest option: they’re an ordinary child, placed back in their home with family and friends, given the same type of memory-wipe. Milgram needed an unbiased party for their experiment, so they grabbed a random child and made a blank slate themselves. There’s also the slightly sadder option that Es’ amnesia occurred pre-Milgram, in which they’d wake up in a hospital after some kind of accident, still without a family/past, but at least they’re safe. Then there’s the much sadder option that Es is put on trial after the prisoners, and is found guilty – no matter where they started, they don’t make it out of Milgram.

There’s also a bittersweet theory – I’ve always liked theories that Es didn’t begin human. They’re a manifestation of us, or the victims, the prisoners, a brand new construct, etc. If this were the case, I can see Milgram returning them to whatever peaceful state they began as. If they were made up of other people, they’d have some kind of closure/revelation, and they would be much more at peace when they disappear (compared to an actual death as a human.) 

Regardless, I think the prisoners have very mixed emotions on them once they remember everything. Some would be angry once they saw which prisoners were executed. Some would recognize they were just a kid and feel sorry they had to go through all that. Some would be plain curious about who they are in the outside world. I think searching up a minor with only a nickname and vague physical description would prove to be very difficult, but I can still see them succeeding after enough time, or with a meeting-coincidence like Yuno and Fuuta’s.

xingqiu and chongyun have insanely good potential for angst my god. xingqiu in particular is so fun to think about in the context of chongyun. what do YOU know about chivalry boy

thinking about how he and hu tao kinda operate on similar notions of justice and all that shmick except hu tao is more strictly averse to disrupting the Natural Order (incredibly vague and generalized concept rn sorry) whilst xingqiu sets his principles more arbitrarily. chongyun's presence somehow foils a lot of his notable character traits. gestures hands vaguely in the air but sth sth hu tao would not approve of xq's moral infractions

perhaps im just reading too deep into this but shrugs ill admit something's changed in Me the last 2 years and coming back to xq and cy has me like. scratches head now hold on im not entirely sure if i even like the way xq treats cy. its kinda one of the main points of their dynamic- the whole.. pranking this oblivious guy who i really adore etc. but its deeper implications leave me a little unsatisfied and a little troubled (?).. in the long run i personally dont really see anything substantially appealing about their (leaning towards romantic in this context) relationship other than like ?? the tropes that mhy imposed upon them. they were created as a compatible Duo ykwim. they reference each other a lot in their lore and even in-game but.. idk maybe i just view them separately instead of a joint unit that anaylzing them individually revealed a lot of crevices and cracks in their ship that's built upon their mainstream appeal

but anyway i've thought a lot about them as a duo and is it nuts to say i like them as a romantic ship but if they were unrequited. i can see them working out but it necessitates a complete subversion and reconstruction of xingqiu (chara development basically LOL) on my part that i would totally invest myself in but im not entirely sure how to execute it

i like xingqiu a LOT as a flawed character. i wouldnt go as far as to say hes toxic, just very conflicted and insecure. hes a fun character to think about. re: the hu tao bit i mentioned above, i think they would have a really fun, witty, and transformative friendship

but anyway. yes i like xq and i still like xy. theyre just a bit more complicated now aha. im still capable of enjoying fluffy ship dynamics but lately ive been in a Character Study Mood ... mmm.. ive yet to organize my chongming thoughts
