Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is one of my favorite herbs. It will help almost any wound heal, help you sweat out a fever or break up congestion, and even improve apetite and digestion with its bitterness. Plus it’s super weedy, and grows quickly. . . Over the winter, i have been putting together a little seed bank, housed in a waterproof pvc cache pod, with all the seeds i would most want to resupply my apothecary from ground, in the unlikely event of WWIII or a similar calamity. Yarrow is one of them, even though it grows in most places. There is quite a bit of genetic and constituent variation from one stand of yarrow to another. Shepherd's Purse (Capella bursa-pastoris) has finished for the year here. That's a bugger because I smashed my thumb with a hammer yesterday! Shepherd's Purse is great for bruises and slow thick blood flow. The only thing I could have used more is Hypericum 6X homeopathic remedy... Usnea or beard lichen is an herbal medicine ally that was growing all over near the house & in the town of Glengarrif in Ireland, grows here in the states too, just look for it on fallen tree branches. Good for sore throats, athlete’s foot, infections & wound healing among many other uses. Peppermint, lemongrass, tea tree and Lavender saved my life last night. I use essential oil in my diffuser to help clear my sinuses blocked up from seasonal allergies. The cool mist calmed my coughing and helped me sleep. Since I’m up I’m going to go make some soursop leaf tea to start my day off right.
