I’ve seen a distinct lack of nuance when it comes to discussions about Silent Hill 2, more specifically in regard to James as a character. It’s very easy to oversimplify his motivations/actions, when looking at it through a lens of bad actions = bad person. While there’s no justification for him murdering Mary, people often mischaracterize her death being the cause of James hating her.

I’m in no way saying people can’t dislike James, but a lot of the hate I’ve seen reflect misunderstanding his character and really the entire game as a whole. More specifically Ive seen the argument that he was motivated by sexual repression, and since Mary he was sick he hated that he lost that intimacy. But that in itself ignores the core theme of his guilt and how ultimately he didn’t hate Mary, if James killed without remorse then nothing would be drawing him to Silent Hill. He’s facing his guilt, that’s the whole reason characters like Pyramid Head exist in the first place. That same mischaracterization also ignores the significance of different endings and what each of them reflect on James. If he truly hated Mary, he wouldn’t have gone to Silent Hill, especially when considering that he originally went there to kill himself, and how he does in the “In Water” ending.

A scene that’s been used to “support” the idea that James hated her was when he states that he did hate her. But, that scene itself is surrounded by context which shows that while he may have began to hate aspects of Mary (I.e her sickness, and also the abusive tendencies she had during that time), he didn’t truly feel that way. Even Mary herself asks “Then why do you look so sad?” because it wouldn’t make any sense to have James go to Silent Hill if he didn’t care about Mary in the first place. I just find it a bit irritating that people who insist James hated Mary are the same people who think others have misunderstood the game if they like James.

Media literacy has reached an all time low, It’s a shame that a character like James is oversimplified in conversations regarding his morality, because I think it shows that people are willing to accept that a person is just bad because of wrongful action without considering how context may change the discussion.

I think if a person is really stuck in the belief that James never cared for Mary, they experienced Silent Hill with their eyes closed. Because story wise that doesn’t make sense for anything that happens, and does a disservice to the game and how it’s meant to be layered and doesn’t just draw on a single meaning.

I’ve decided I want to say something. I’m going to try to see things equally as I talk about it but I will acknowledge my bias toward Tommy. He is and has been a favorite creator of mine and I want people to know that I acknowledge that I might say bias things and to take that into account.

I watched Dream’s stream three times. Once when Dream streamed, Kwite’s stream and Tubbo’s stream. I also would like to acknowledge that they both tried to give him the benefit of the doubt many times and Kwite and Tubbo tried to reach out to him. Also my apologies if I miss anything important in the stream, please just let me know if any of what I say is incorrect.

Firstly and foremost, I will say that Tommy should have backed down with the pedo jokes or stopped altogether. It just doesn’t look good, I’m sorry. I have watched Dream’s “The Truth” video before and tried to look into it myself and I honestly don’t believe that those allegations are true.

I will say that I am not in any way, shape or form okay with telling someone to kill themselves. It’s just not who I am and I don’t like how widespread of a thing that is nowadays. I understand other Tommy fans are upset but god fucking damn it that’s not okay to do toward anyone. I made this post earlier but leave Techno’s name out of this. I am absolutely disgusted by the fans that made “Dream SA” comments toward his fans and how he was going to SA them. It’s gross and you don’t look like a good person.

I have my grievances with Tommy fans but that’s not what I wanna say right now. I didn’t like when Dream was making any sort of sexual remark toward any of the minors. Like in this stream with Tubbo’s sister around 39:55 to 40:02, he made a weird joke about her respawning in Vik’s house. Idk if anyone else cares but that made me uncomfy personally, there was no need to say that. Or this Dream and Tommy interaction, maybe this isn’t as much of a big deal, they were friends and Tommy joked about it but it made me uncomfortable. I would like to specify again that these are my personal grievances with Dream. Or when Tommy joined the server for the first time and Dream and George had him do the crafting table bit which was a reference to sex, that was not cool, Tommy was 16, a minor, it just doesn’t feel okay to me at all. Also he had no clue what the joke was, he did what they asked him to do. Those are my main examples of that.

Also Dream skipping over all the important criticisms that Tubbo was giving him only to act shocked at not having context. It kind of irked me, I don’t know if it was done on purpose or not but either way, Tubbo reacted to the whole thing and Dream couldn’t be asked to do the same, slightly disappointing.

His statement on Aimsey really made me upset. Calling them a mastermind when they only tried to support their friend was a very odd choice. I have no knowledge on the George drama if anyone does please let me know.

Saying people hated him for playing a villain character on the Dsmp is kinda crazy. I believe that most fans can differentiate reality from fiction. No, I don’t think that’s why people dislike you Dream, when watching Tubbo’s stream he mentioned that Dream seemed to skip over the important bits of their phone call to focus on the smallest thing. Whether that was done on purpose or not is just not cool. If he wants people to form their own opinions and look into the facts themselves, at the very least give everyone the full facts.

Dream’s mention of the nsfw artwork posted in the discord in the early days of the SMP… I honestly don’t care what anyone else has to say on this point, it is his server and his responsibility to make sure the minors in the server are safe and not exposed to anything. Showing or allowing minors to see nsfw shit is a Crime. I’m sorry to say but that’s a fucking crime. I know Dream didn’t show it but if Tubbo was uncomfortable, it’s his job to make sure that stops. If nobody else was going to be the responsible adult, it’s his discord server and his Minecraft server, he should have some say if not have all the say in keeping minors safe. Even if they asked to be treated like adults which Tubbo doesn’t remember saying at all, YOU DONT TREAT MINORS LIKE ADULTS IN THAT WAY, THAT IS A CRIME.

And at the heart of it all. The R slur. Reclaiming a slur is for deweaponizing the slur. You can Not reclaim a slur by using it against a group of people, that’s the opposite of reclaiming, that’s just using the slur as a slur. I am not down for ANYONE using slurs they can’t reclaim or are weaponizing it. I am not for people calling Dream slurs when all that went down, it’s not okay. I will agree with Tubbo that his drama did kinda outgrow the MCYT community. Different communities have different tolerances on what can and can not be said, I don’t agree with it but that’s the truth. If there were a lot of people in the MCYT community throwing slurs around, I personally don’t want them here. Using slurs if you are weaponizing it is not fucking okay.

These are my personal opinions and thoughts and why I dislike Dream. I’m sorry if this upsets anyone, etc, etc. I might edit this later if I think of anything else.

He did more good than all of his brothers and saying that X, Y or Z deserves the main role more, is fake fan behavior because at this point you’re just setting up your favs.

Kanato:

No, you’re not cool for calling him ugly. It’s okay if you’re not into that type of characters but his design is not bad at all.

“He had no development”, he does in CL. It’s not major but it can still be visible.

The whole Teddy thing might be annoying to some of you, but his fans get why he acts that way. Let’s not forget that he is a victim of neglect.

Laito:

“I hate Laito so much, he was so cruel in HDB 😢”; stop living in the past and move on already.

His development shouldn’t be overlooked only because your opinion about him was formed on something that came out more than 10 years ago.

He’s still the most fascinating DL character and I get that he might make some of you feel uncomfortable but don’t project your triggers on a character that’s merely made after a trope.

Shu:

No, it’s not Shu’s fault for the way Reiji acted. Envy is never a good reason to hurt someone.

“Shu roasts the heroine the most!”, I get that it’s rude but his insults are actually funny?? A bunch of people will like him for being brutally honest or a jerk because it’s literally a game for players with masochistic fantasies. They WANT to be roasted by good-looking men. That’s the point.

“Shu is lazy and stupid, he’s the only one who failed his school year”, genuine question: If you were an immortal creature that doesn’t need food or sleep to survive, would you still care about grades? Besides, he’s really smart.

“Shu doesn’t care about Yuma, he just feels guilty”, in LE he sacrificed himself for him and reincarnated merely because he wished to meet Yuma again and get on well with him in another life—

Reiji:

“He hurt Shu and Yuma”, well yeah but he was shown plenty of times regretting it and trying to fix things. Stop reminding this to Reiji stans because that conflict is already closed.

“He is so mean in other routes”, obviously?? If you don’t teach him how to love, he won’t suddenly act nice towards anyone.

Without him Yui would fail her tests and the Sakamaki household would be in chaos.

Subaru:

“W-What do you mean baby Tsundere is not soft innocent virgin boy? 🥺”; he has never been like that, that’s how YOU perceived him. Stop acting so shocked every time Subaru does something bad because he’s still a vampire after all??

Also, why are so many people reducing his character to Kou and/or Yui—? He’s much more than that and has his own interests, struggles, likes, dislikes, and so on.

“He’s irrelevant”; Diabolik Lovers has 13 love interests, they can’t make everyone extremely important to the general plot. Just enjoy a character as it is, it’s not that hard.

Ruki:

The cat jokes were funny when the Meow Meow Vampire art came out but MOVE ON. I hate that scene and Ruki was in the wrong but come on now, that’s not even the worst thing he has done and MB happened in 2013.

I understand not liking Ruki as a person, because he’s mostly not a good one, but this doesn’t mean he’s not a good character.

“Ruki deserved what happened to him in the past because he was cruel towards everyone”; while I agree that Karma hit him, I wouldn’t say any child really deserves to go through that. He was just a spoiled brat, who most likely wasn’t taught by his parents about modesty or kindness.

Kou:

“He was so cruel in MB 😣”, and HE HAD DEVELOPMENT! He’s not the same anymore, nobody is.

“He overreacts”, sometimes he’s not in the wrong and has all rights to be angry.

Kou isn’t afraid of going against Ruki, even if he’s the brother he admires the most, as long as he knows that what Ruki is doing isn’t good.

Yuma:

“He beat Yui up in the MB bad ending!😡😡”, it’s a bad ending for a reason, lol.

Pretty reminder that Yuma always tries to help others with Kou and Azusa, and was even willing to save the ghouls in LE.

“Yuma doesn’t care about Shu”, did we play the same game or…?

Azusa:

“Azusa is so horrible, he threw Teddy in the fire!”; and he only did it to save Yui, it was not intentional.

While not all his actions are good, keep in mind that he never means any harm and is overall such a sweet guy.

“He is too clingy”; I know that might not be everyone’s cup of tea but is it really worth hating a character just for wanting affection?

The Tsukinamis and Kino:

“They were too easy to defeat in DF!”; Dark Fate wasn’t entirely about them to begin with. Most routes focused on the boys’ internal struggles with their trauma and how to move past it.

“Kino is sometimes mean for the sake of being mean”; it’s almost as if he’s the ✨villain✨

It’s dumb questioning the morals of characters supposed to have an antagonistic role.

“Kino hurt Ayato in LE”; out of all characters who have wronged Ayato, at least Kino felt bad and wanted to apologize.

Yui:

“She’s dumb and ugly”; Japanese fans literally love her for being an idiot because it wouldn’t be fun to see the heroine being the best at everything or not making mistakes at all. Plus, her design is definitely not ugly.

Stop creating your own version of Yui in your head and ending up disappointed when she doesn’t act the way you expect her to. No, Yui is not OOC for liking being bitten, having a low learning ability or saying things she shouldn’t in the wrong moments. Nobody is perfect and everyone has their own kinks and flaws.

“She’s too innocent”; she’s not?? If you really want to see her thirsty, go play Ayato’s routes, especially the heaven scenarios.

“She’s weak”, she’s the opposite. Yui is one of the most mentally strong DL characters.

I can’t understand people who hate on heroines when they’re present in all routes and are the most positive characters.

Maru: lovely. Charming. She hates working. She loves working on machines. She thinks about machines to build for you to make life easier. She’s adorable. She has a complicated relationship with her brother and I want to help them fix it goddangit because I love fictional siblings.

Elliott: lovely. Charming. An artist. He only leaves his home for like four hours a day. I can really relate to the desire to shave off all of one’s own hair. I feel that in my bones. Also, is friends with Willy and I fucking love Willy so A++

Alex: everyone always says not to date him if your playing a female farmer, but honestly, his dialogue only cuts out parts if you play male. Like, he still says he felt different about you from day one even if you’re playing as a girl. The character affected the most by your gender choice in regards to dating Alex is George, and if you’ve already befriended George, he’ll apologize for being mean about your sexuality when he never even said anything mean about your sexuality, which is kind of funny

I never see people complain about Haley or Sebastian, which is fair, because Haley has a cute character arc and Sebastian loves frogs (this is what the perfect man lo-) My only problem is that people praise these two but rag on everyone else when I feel like all the characters are balanced pretty evenly in terms of good-bad traits.

Which trait is which is dependent on the person playing the game anyway, so when someone like me plays, I can’t help but find the characters perfect because I’m very forgiving when it comes to fictional characters’ undesirable traits. I mean, my favourite trait of all is stupidity, pure and unbridled, I’m talking facepalm-inducing, groan-worthy, the type of character people complain about the most; the type of stupid that makes people stop enjoying things. How can I dislike these characters who are cute and a bit awkward and so ready to bed the first hot farmer they come across even when that farmer sifts through their trash and passes out three steps away from their own house and drinks mayonnaise and would eat hay given half the chance. Like come on. They’re all moron-sexual. I can relate to that.

In conclusion: your favourite bachelor and/or bachelorette is as wonderful as you think they are and screw the people who try to tell you otherwise. The characters are great because they appeal to different people. Enjoy the game and enjoy the dating and I swear to God if I see another person say that certain farm layouts are bad because they don’t make enough money- the game doesn’t have a time limit! You can make as much money as you want! You could sell one sap everyday and nothing else and you would still be able to make it to however much money you desire to have. There’s not really a fast way to make ten billion gold, that doesn’t mean that the farm layouts you don’t like are bad and yes I’m ranting just because I love the slopes of the mining farm its layout is chamrjng and picturesque and provides a unique challenge to decorating and placing buildings and it’s actually the BEST farm layout because I just decided so and-!

Stardew Valley is a great game, 10/10 would recommend, and the new update is already great because I found carrot seeds and I like carrots :)

“Charlie is with Vaggie!” Again, good for her. I do not have to ship canon just because it is. Ship and let ship? It’s not THAT serious. If you’re making this your whole personality then you don’t like chaggie because it’s representation, you like it to bash Charlastor and shit on the people who like it.

Honestly, it’s JUST a ship of two characters. We are not harming you with it. Block the tags and cater to YOUR experience on the web. We’re going to do our own thing regardless if you like it or not.

Spoilers for Dandadan episode 1

I don’t know if people are gonna agree with me on this (and it’s completely fine if they don’t), but the sa scene in Dandadan is not fan service and the fact that it makes you uncomfortable is kind of the whole point?

It’s a scene where two teenagers get into very uncomfortable and unconsensual sexual situations. One of them gets their literal pp taken away from him and the other almost gets her uterus taken away and is almost raped by aliens. That scene was weird. That scene made me feel uncomfortable the first time I saw it, but that’s the whole thing. None of it is even framed in a very stereotypically fan service way (Yes, the characters have their clothes ripped off, but there wasn’t much emphasis on it. Even the angles just felt overall really weird). Personally, I don’t agree with anybody who uses the argument that people are still gonna be attracted to it, because people can and will probably be into anything (idk it’s just not the best of points), but I’m being so far when I say that I think that scene had no other purpose but to make you feel bad and weird. Well, not no OTHER purpose, but I think that it making others feel very gross for watching it or uncomfy for just being here is good and opens up conversations.

Of course, don’t force yourself to watch something that could be triggering, but just because a media contains something you dislike doesn’t take away any attempt at having serious conversations about it or still engaging with it.

So far, I am really enjoying the anime. A part of me is a little impatient, because I had already read the manga and was already pretty attached to the lil guys, but I’m enjoying seeing and finally hearing them.

Hope doing this in asks is okay, I saw your post about needing some Thoughts on Funger characters for your comic so I wanted to help out :3 I'm sure you already know about all my feelings on Pav and Karin so instead I'll yap about Marina and Daan if that's cool! I just find it interesting how their views on religion contrast each other (with Marina being an occultist and Daan's past with Sylvian) and as Daan goes on about how he dislikes it (in the church I believe) he says the line 'If your happiness relies on the shoulders of others, then you're screwed', in which Marina goes quiet afterwards. And while it could mean nothing, to me that gives me the impression that she took it personally. Maybe she's a people pleaser and she felt called out? Who knows! Also adding to Daan's dislike of the Gods/Sylvian, when they're at Sylvian's Square and Abella tries to bring up how suggestive the fountain looks, he gets very short with her ('Yes. We get your point'). Usually he has something sarcastic or witty to say, so to be that blunt to someone as nice as Abella tells me that he was VERY uncomfortable and eager to leave. Idk, I just thought that stuck out to me. Meanwhile while Marina is at the square she's just like 'oh yeah fun fact there used to be a brothel here lol' completely unbothered, what a queen haha

Okay okay okay but Daan and Marina (and O’saa, but this ain’t about him) are my religious trauma family fr fr!!!!

I’m so invested in how they both grew up in super religious households and how they deal with the effects of that differently. Because while Daan is very obviously negative when it comes to religion, especially sexually religion (for obvious reasons), Marina is cheerful but insults it at the same time, almost like a coping mechanism?

Plus, Marina is especially interesting because she’s literally in school studying magic and religion. She probably feels trapped, like who would she without the church and Alll-mer? And and and when looking at a photo of her dad, she mentions how the lineage has to end, but she doesn’t make any comments about what she’ll do instead.

I think that could also tie in with what you said in Daan mentioning “If you’re happiness relies on the shoulders of others”—I wonder if she’s thinking of the idea of letting go of religion even then 🤔

SEGUE-WAY INTO DAAN

Daan cutting Abella off coldly at the statue is actually not the only time he does it! He also does it at the mall, with all the people hanging on the ceiling!

Levi mentions that it seems like the people there are enjoying it (which Daan agrees to), suggesting that the whole thing might be a sexual religious act.

When they go back down and Daan and Abella are there, we get this dialogue:

Those two instances just feel…so similar to me. It’s also interesting that they’re both triggered by Abella djndjfnjsjdnf

Also, while looking for the above pic, I also came across dialogue where he mentioned he’s done enough camping for a lifetime because of his parents, which I admittedly didn’t think about. Religious trauma even ruined camping for him :(

Daan’s the opposite of Marina—instead of leaning into it and making fun (like most of the Termina contestants tbh), he avoids anything relating to the Bunnymasks as much as possible.

It does make me wonder if he could help Marina let go of her past and find something new to strive for—he was able to do it with the kindness of the von Dutches so maybe he can do the same for Marina!—but that’s just me being obsessed with found family at that point 😆

This show is so stupid because they write these scenes with the intention of us siding with Rhaenyra or Alicent over the mean men but the exact opposite keeps happening! 😂

The reason it’s not working is because neither woman has actually done anything remotely useful or politically sound the whole season.

Even after they gave Jace’s dragonseed idea to Rhaenyra they still managed to make him look more rational by showing concern about how this will affect his legitimacy. All the whilst his mother’s basically saying “thoughts and prayers 👍🏽”. Do you have any idea how incompetent you have to make your leading lady that fans are looking at her 16 year old son and concluding he’s more suited for the job???

As for Alicent, can someone please tell me one useful thing she has done this entire season? She mopes around, takes baths, fucks Criston, then lets Rhaenyra Targaryen go even though all she needed to do was shout and the war would’ve ended right there. So when the Green Council refused to make her regent I don’t know a single person whose instant reaction was “these men are being sexist to poor Alicent”, the audience saw it for what it was: Aemond has proven to be 100x more competent than his useless mother so it makes sense why he’s Prince Regent. Doesn’t help her cause that she was so mad she didn’t get to be regent she threw a tantrum and sold her family to the enemy. Again, this is just proving the patriarchy right: women are too emotional to rule 🤷🏽‍♀️.

This is so true. They were so desperate to be feminist that they went in the exact wrong direction and proved the wrong point. Neither Rhaenyra nor Alicent can make a single decision without spending two episodes thinking and biting fingernails about it. They are in the middle of a civil war and neither of them can bring themselves to do anything about it other than crying over their friendship that has been over for two decades. It gets across the completely untrue point that women can't rule on their own. And that Rhaenyra needs Jace and Daemon to do it for her. And Alicent can't rule because if she does, she sleeps with her kings guard.

You're so right. They keep making scene that they think will make us side with them because of the patriarchy but they're both written so stupidly that the men are actually much more competent than them so we end of side with Jace, aka a man, aka the 'patriarchy'.

I think they also wanted to make us think Rhaenyra and Alicent are amazing, wise, and gentle queens (aka uwu babies) by making both of them dislike the idea of actually going to war and chasing 'peace' until the very last episode. Besides, it doesn’t matter that much because this is a fictional character and not an actual person, so it’s nothing to really fight over— unless people who believe this actually support/enjoy/do non-con and other such gross things in real life, in which case— kindly omit yourself from this planet because you are sick and we don’t need people who actually find shit like this “hot” or would even do it themselves. Fuck you, I am a victim. If you like to believe this aspect is canon because it adds something for you (that is hopefully not erotic or romantic…) then do what you want, I guess. Not my thing, but I can just stay away from it so it’s not a big deal. Again, it is a fictional character but your opinions on what they do is REAL and can affect you and your actions.

Also when you post about that shit and justify it or whatever, you’re making multiple people feel unsafe and you’re making multiple rapists feel VERY safe, just so you know. So maybe make it clearer that you’re not about that in reality.

Anyway, all that done, let’s talk about the more specific and less important argument;

I see people so often characterize Hannibal as someone who is okay with or practices non-con and other such sexually heinous things, based on his attitude and actions in the show.

In my opinion, while we see Hannibal commit obviously horrible things— like murder and cannibalism, creating awful power imbalances and malpractices, as well as performing non-consensual and non-sexual actions on others— we don’t see him doing anything sexually heinous, and in my opinion I don’t believe he would do so.

For one, he encourages Margot to kill her abuser, Mason. Not that this isn’t a thing he would do regardless, but he also drugs and has Mason self-torture, paralyzes Mason to elongate his suffering and to also leave the revenge up to Margot herself, and even aids in the killing of Mason. We do know that he sexually violates Mason, but it isn’t for sexual motivation, as it is a clinical violation in order to harvest his sperm. I will admit, this is rather gross and sexually heinous, but not done for sexual pleasure or in support of sexual assault (rather the opposite I’d think).

This post I saw pointed out that Hannibal also said that he “liked this dragon” in regard to Francis Dolarhyde, who sexually assaulted his victims. This is a good point, and the only real opposition I have for this is that he only said so to get on Will’s nerves, or that he meant it in an entirely different way— that he’d like to kill the dragon/have Will kill the dragon, as that’s why he’d sent the man to his house in the first place (not knowing Will wouldn’t necessarily be there), because Francis already had a vendetta against Will and Hannibal would like to have Will get back into killing. I do know that Hannibal is well-aware of Francis’s crimes, as he reads about them through the paper and so I can’t say that he didn’t know about the necrophilic part of his killings, and that any of them very well could’ve been subject to it. I can only refute by saying he expected Will to kill Dolarhyde and “become the dragon” before any of that could happen.

Hannibal’s whole motto is “eat the rude” and I’d say people who commit sexually heinous crimes would be considered very rude, and he even seems to dislike them when they’re not even targeting himself.

This is not about projecting morality onto dark characters as much as it is my personal take and also to those who need to hear it: stop projecting your creepiness onto dark characters. They can be dark characters without being sexually disturbing.

I guess, personally, I’d just like to have a favorite character/favorite ship that does not perform/support sexual violations. Don’t know how you can fault me for that.

Five and lila was… unexpected

[!TUA SEASON 4 SPOILERS!]

I wanna start with the fact that I do not agree with the people saying “this butchered fives character!” nor do I agree with the people saying “Oml this ship is so perfect!”

truly, I think five and Lila make sense. But not quite in the couple way?

I mean, I adored watching the two of them play chess or help with personal hygiene or cook/eat together. But with the context of sexual and romantic tension, kinda ruined it for me.

because, well, it just felt rushed and weird. We see very few scenes of the two intersecting in this way, and when we do it’s in brief flashes and later on during some weird pout of fives on the subway! So to say I felt like I had whiplash from their relationship is an understatement.

the whole cheating thing is a whole other level, because personally anyone who is a cheater is disgusting and immediately someone I hate/dislike (of course there are some, very very few, instances where I can forgive or at least understand the cheating). And that is no different for five or Lila, because I think both are horrible for

1. Lila cheating on Diego with his BROTHER (adopted but still!) no less! And I get it was 7 years BUT she still wanted to get home, she still had hope, doesn’t that extend to her husband? I know they were fighting and Lila wanted to take a break, but unlike with Rachel and Ross who were dating, A BREAK IN A MARRIAGE IS NOT AN IMMEDIATE DIVORCE! So please, stop saying it was all perfect! Cause it was not. Diego and Lila would have probably broken up despite the fact that I and many others wish they wouldn’t (both are too stubborn for couples therapy, probably), but only after that would it have been better for her to start pursuing five in that way, and vice versa.

I get it, you and the one lady who understood how your situation works we’re stick for 7 years with only eachother, but dude, she’s MARRIED to your BROTHER with 3 KIDS! truly, this season could have benefitted from this, I think five and Lila are cute. But idk, maybe give us some more time with them? (I understand they had less episodes, but we also got like 20 minutes worth of Klaus just flicking a lighter in a grave! Love y’a Klaus, sorry!) Or just, hmmm, I’m not sure, make it platonic? Or maybe make the two kiss and then have that epiphany of “oh wait! I still have a husband!” And “my brother is your husband!”. And then have them be all weird about it, let the fanfic writes squeal and add on to it or whatever they want, and not traumatize the other majority of fans who fully do not and cannot support the ONE ship that is pedophilic both ways!

I’ve got so much more to say on this, but I’m tired and I truly could care less.

all in all; if you don’t like the ship, don’t interact with content about it. If you like the ship, don’t interact with content bashing it. It is a VERY controversial ship, and while I say “whatever floats your boat”, that does not mean shove your opinion in other peoples faces.

I am stuck between two choices, the first is rather obvious. Carroom is a ship that is abuser x abuser and the entirety of kisswas "I loved him too" reveal came from the depths of Tartarus as it was new showed nor even implied once, in fact quite the opposite was implied before so It is completely an enigma where this ship came from and even more a mystery why KC though they would be a good pair. The second choice though is a bit more, controversial and much less obvious though. That being Barruni, allow me to explain. Uni has shown on multiple occasions that she does not respect Barry's boundaries about magic and even actively seems to intentionally use magic in front of him on occasions despite knowing that he dislikes her use of it, Uni has gotten away with far too much for me to believe that Barry would still actively engage in a proper relationship with her after all of this. I also fear that after all of this, KC wont even know how to do Barruni that well without horribly mischaracterizing them on both ends in a way that leaves all of their previous personality traits behind and just makes them previous husks of their former self. I personally DO NOT see the Protags as self inserts. I think they all have their own personalities. So I don’t really have any self insert ships were I ship them just because I want to date a character, but I do understand some people have those.

Akira and Goro are a massive call back to Tatsuya and Jun from Persona 2, and Tatsuya and Jun are written with the intent to be romantic. Though I think after the third semester I usually don’t have to explain why I feel like Akira and Goro is an obvious Ship, it’s one of those you can totally have a different preference but you understand what I'm getting at right?

I reeeally hope I don’t have to explain that Futaba and Akira are in sibling dynamic so Shipping them would be gross.

Kasumi’s infatuation with Akira makes ZERO SENSE. The only people who see through your delinquent deguise is Goro (because soulmates narrative foil) and Ryuji (who doesn’t see through he’s just a good boy who trusts everyone), so Kasumi seeing through it makes NO SENSE. If she were to follow anyone around saying “Senpei” I think it would be Makoto.

Rise’s feral one sided thirsty crush on Souji is very funny to me (and I love playing it for comedy) but I don’t think he would ever reciprocate it. Her love just feels a bit too superficial, and Souji has too many issues of not being seen for himself for me to like it as a Ship.

I do think Yukari had a crush on Minato and I think Minato would be willing to try dating her, but I feel their love languages would be too different and it would end in disaster. Minato seems like the little actions and subtle comfort where Yukari seems like she would want big romantic gestures (something Mitsuru would do for her).

I will say with all Persona Romance Routes I am very much not a Fan of the Pandering that is “Girl likes you for no real reason” (it’s honestly just a boring Romance to me) and would’ve liked if more of the Girls just weren’t Romanceable so we could just have more Male/Female Friendships. I feel (aside from the stand out VERY BAD ones) a lot of the Romance Routes aren’t that bad, just don’t mesh well with the Tone and Tension of the rest of the Game (they’re kind Mundane and Boring in comparison to the Relationships I ACTUALLY Ship). But my Opinion on Persona Romance Routes as a whole would be a completely different discussion than Ships.

It’s necessary to say this so I don’t get Canceled; Hamuko and Minato are Canonically Two Halves of the Same Soul, some people choose to see that as Siblings and some people choose to see that as Soulmates. I used to prefer Siblings but now I prefer Soulmates. Either is fine but don’t mix em is all.

What exactly is it about game-version Ellen that you guys don't like?

I mean I get the general gist from watching Internet Historian's explanation of the game, but I'm guessing maybe there was something he left out..?

Okay so before I get into this just a warning for some heavy stuff such as r@pe.

The game sells itself on the idea of all the survivors being terrible people with fatal flaws, Ellen however doesn’t fit this narrative. While the other characters are forced to face their wrong doings that led to their traumas, Ellen is quite literally just a victim of a crime she had not caused. Ellen was a good person, who was attacked and assaulted. She did nothing wrong. What makes it even stranger, is how the men around her are pretty much jerks from hell and she is the only one with any compassion. (That in of itself is a dangerous trope about women, “woman good, gentle, and do no wrong”)

The game also suggests that not only does she have relations with the other survivors as in the original text, but that also AM is weirdly into her (which makes no sense to his character). Even when looking at just the text Ellen falls into the hysterical woman trope, and the game also leans into this as well as throwing the whole r@pe revenge/victim, insinuating that the best way to recover from trauma related to r@pe is just to confront it and slap it in the face or something. However (likely due to the writers being men who didn’t research the topic), recovering from this type of trauma is way more complicated than this game or story could possibly handle. In lots of media, especially older media, the only struggle a woman can have is when it relates to sexuality or gender.

While yes we can argue that this is a horror game and meant to disturb, her story is less disturbing and more so frustrating and bizarre. Not particularly helped by the fact that in the game’s attempt to humanise her to the audience by giving her the literal worst experiences, IT STILL OBJECTIFIES HER. In Ted’s story, where his love for Ellen is revealed, it comes less across like that and more so as him viewing her as an object for his fantasy. “To be the great knight saving the princess”, it makes little sense. Ellen’s story has nothing to do with him, heck none of the other stories have anything to with each other, so why the heck is Ted so obsessed with her? His reason for being attracted to Ellen isn’t even that he loves her as a person and would want a life with her, she is literally the only woman in the group which just makes it so much weirder. It reminds me so much of the great Gatsby, where Gatsby doesn’t actually love Daisy, she just represents what it is that he wants. And the fact that “saving her” and sending her to heaven is the good ending just makes it so much weirder.

I am not the best person to talk about this, but generally you will find within the fandom that most people dislike her story for these reasons or more. I don’t really want to get to into it, as it’s a heavy-heavy topic, that I and many others seem to agree wasn’t handled correctly.
