Marinette steps into the elevator anxiously. It was 2:57, and she was stressed. What if they were actually old people catfishing her? What if they bailed? Or what if, even worse, they weren’t even in Paris?

The elevator stops at the viewing deck of the Eiffel Tower. She sees a group of adults and children, and off to the side was an old couple.

She sits on a bench by a pair of viewing binoculars. Her foot won’t stop tapping.

She fidgets with her red and black scarf, the agreed-upon signal for her friends to recognize her by.

She sees a boy approach her hesitantly. He wears a deep green jacket over black jeans, and he has headphones sling over his neck. He wears a green beanie.

“Dj? That you?” She asks, feeling stupid about calling him by his username.

“Uh, yeah. But my real name’s Nino,” he responds somewhat awkwardly.

“I’m Marinette, then. Wanna head to the lounge? It’s kinda cold out here.”

“Yeah, sure. Do you know when the others’ll be here?”

Marinette checks her phone briefly. “No… neither of them have said anything. I can ask, though?”

He nods. Marinette patters away on her phone.

She looks back up at him. He was definitely taller than she expected.

“I told them both to meet us at the lounge. Um, Kitty said he’d be here in five, he was just running a little late. And our favorite reporter said that she got caught up- there’s something happening near her house and she just had to record it.”

Marinette rolls her eyes and Nino runs a hand through his hair. They share a look and grin.

They had reached the lounge as they were walking and talking. Marinette opens the door for Nino and closes it behind herself.

“So,” he begins awkwardly as they sit down on a sofa together. “Uh, do you actually draw or is that just a screen name?”

Marinette brightens and she launches into a detailed explanation of her designing, and she pulls out her sketchbook.

They pour over it for a few minutes until a harried-looking girl bursts in. Her red and brown hair is flying about. She stops and looks around until her eyes land on them.

Her jacket is an orange and deep brown. It must be their third friend.

She walks to them and sits down. “Dj and MDC? Is that you?”

Marinette nods. “My real name’s Marinette, and this is Nino.”

The girl smiles. “My name’s Alya.”

“Hey, Alya,” a boy says, walking behind her. His blond hair is considerably neater than Alya’s. He wears black and green boots.

“Oh, hey, Adrien. Didn’t know you’d be our precious lil kitty,” she teases. He pouts adorably and Marinette’s heart melts into a puddle of goo. He was like a little kid who needed to be protected.

Nino looks between Adrien and Alya. “How do you two know each other?”

“Oh, we go to school together. It’s kinda funny to think that we were both ignoring each other in class in favor of talking to each other.” Alya snickers.

Marinette whips her head towards Nino. “You! Aren’t you the one who replaced all of the ink in my pens with milk because I rejected your friend?”

Nino shrugs guiltily. “Eh, well, bros before hoes, am I right?”

okay okay okay this has been in my inbox for a lil while and i feel like ive been building up to it but im going to watch some clips and gather some thoughts.....i asked @theyellowcurtains to give me a number limit for each and he said 3 so im gonna do 3 of each otherwise id just write a frame by frame analysis of all of season 3 (im so sorry for how long this post is i have so many thoughts all the time)

im gonna start with matteo moments and im gonna list the season/episode/clip just for clarity okay?? okay (im doing matteo moments that dont include david because i have to go off about that later on)

1. s3ep10cl2- okay okay so the morning after clip is perfect in every single way and i could go off about it for years but beyond all of the davenzi stuff there is the moment when matteo leaves davids room and hes wearing the gray sweater, when laura is dancing??? which is also iconic all on its own but im talking specifically about matteo here, so you know he sits down on that stool thing and hes smiling SO big and hes blushin really hard and then laura sees him and they LAUGH??? and then he claps for her???? if i had to pick id absolutely say that that whole sequence is my fave matteo moment and also kind of interesting and makes me think about the fact that matteo is definitely very shy and quiet but he also has that like,, brat confidence?? i could make an entire post about that but ANYWAY yeah that is the fucking best matteo moment hes so cute and nervous but also totally fine being obvious about the fact that him and david fucked which i think is hilarious but i digress and i MUST move on

2. s3ep8cl2- i do have to say that while im not a HUGE fan of the explanation the video he watched gave of like,, what being trans is, im really glad they included this clip?? like its so obvious that matteo wants to talk to david but doesnt really know what to say, and i love that his first instinct was to start looking stuff up?? like if i was into a cis guy and he told me that he didnt really know about trans stuff but he did RESEARCH?? like thats just really sweet and shows that he really fucking loves david already and just wants to be more informed about what hes,, not to say signing up for but i cant think of a better phrase but yall know what i mean ya know??? its just very very sweet of him!!!!!

3. s3ep8cl4- i think people know about my deep love for hans so of course this clip is going to be one of my favorites?? im going to narrow it down a bit though because the part of this clip that hit me the fucking hardest was when hans asks “what do you like about him?” because the way matteo reacts is just?? so sweet?? at first he looks a little unsure but then when hans repeats himself matteo licks his lips and goes “well, i love his smile” like????? is that not the cutest fucking shit?? he literally swoons and collapses back into the chair cause hes probably imagining it and then he goes off about it being “beautiful” with david and im sure hans is trying not to cry?? and hans ending it with “thats the only thing that really matters, everything else is secondary” and matteo going “thats true” and then laughing a little bit?? i feel like that whole thing was a bit of a turning point for matteo and wow i am,,, so emotional about it

oh my god im so sorry im going off but im about to go off more cause,,, im gonna talk about davenzi moments now

1. s3ep10cl1- okay im just gonna start strong even though i feel like everyone talks about this clip i REALLY wanna talk about it because??? the fact that they showed a fucking sex scene between a trans boy and a gay cis boy is still so fucking iconic and legendary?? while this whole season really changed my life, this scene in particular is so.......it just feels so good to see. like its so nice watching that and seeing someone who looks like me ya know?? not that i look like david god i wish i was that lucky but like,, someone wearing a binder?? someone whos body looks more like mine than any other trans rep ive seen?? and seeing that body being portrayed as DESIRABLE??? i think thats one of the things that gets me the most is just how like,, just how much matteo is into david lol it just feels good feels organic but im gonna stop myself here before i talk for 1000 years about a less than 4min long clip lmao

2. s3ep10cl4- okay so this clip really just highlights the cute beginning flirting stages of their relationship?? like matteo doesnt want to host the party but then he sees david and smiles and then hes smiling like a fool when he hands david the beanie back and theyre both just so awkward but obviously crushing?? and he wants to keep talking so of course hes gonna bring up the time they hung out, and he looks a lil shocked after david says “it was cool with you” and then he like,, stutters through inviting him to the party cause hes probably so nervous!!! theyre both just such big losers with such BIG crushes on each other its really just the cutest fucking clip and also kinda shows that david isnt necessarily just this,, cool dude?? hes also a stuttery blushy dork with a crush?? wow wow its just such a good underrated clip WOW

3. s3ep9cl7- okay okay okay okay okay im sure there are like lenghty analyses about this clip already but i dont care because holy FUCK??? something i didnt really notice about it before was once matteo finally goes up to david hes like “are you fucking serious” but then he sees that david is fuckin spiraling so his voice gets softer and he asks him like “hey whats wrong” and its just a really good set up to the conversation?? and its nice to see that despite matteo probably being kinda angry hes mostly just worried about david?? and then matteo just lets david go OFF at him and only talks when hes trying to tell him that it isnt going to be the same as it was last time but then once he sees that david is getting angrier and louder hes like okay how am i going to get him to listen so of course matteo, the quietest boy in the world, yells back!!!! and yeah thats the thing that finally stops david from working himself up!! and matteo realizes that hes gonna need to be a lil loud and pushy to make david listen to him and then he goes back to being soft once david is paying attention to him!!! and then he talks and he says so much, like much more than he usually does at one time, and god GOD the way they did that was jsut so GOOD!!!!! and the fact that matteo, who appears to be either depressed or apathetic like 90% of the season, is the one that says i love you first??? and during such an emotional and important moment like?? like after going off about how david isnt alone and that hes really great and jsut needs to stop hiding himself away LIKE???? guys its jsut so so good its just so good i could talk for years but im gonna cut myself off here

honorable mentions cause i cant shut the fuck UP:

1. when theyre looking at davids sketchbook and david is like “these are private actually all of them are private” and matteo is like “well you already showed them to me it doesnt matter” and then he giggles like damn no question why david had such a huge crush on him immediately hes such a cutie

It has a nice little character customizer that gives a nonbinary option!! I do find it a bit odd tho that the male and NB characters have the same hairstyle and then the girl gets an extra accessory. Like yo! Unfair! Could I have like a hairclip or some goggles like digimon? XD

Also I’ll admit that I laughed way too much at the merchant cat website, and seriously AAA all the designs in this  game are so cute and great and vibrant and distinctive and have GREAT COLOURS and SPARKLY ACCESSORIES aa

Sadly tho, kind of a “meh” review. The art is REALLY amazing but the gameplay is kinda.. not? Not “not amazing” but “not any gameplay”. Its not even got the substance of usual clicker games cos they made a weird decision to make the time limit for it like.. way too long to ever time out. It just feels like pointless busywork when its essentially just a ‘press button to increase stat’ but then it pretends you have some gameplay challenge at work. Also there’s kinda not much else, either? The story is a complete excuse plot, its just ‘here’s your farm’ when you start, and then ‘oh we succeeded farm’ once you buy all the upgrades. Like I’m fine with playing “no gameplay “ games when it means a bigger focus on visual novel storytelling, yknow? This is the opposite of that, its like a very minimal flash game with an excuse plot, but then usually those only have an excuse plot because they focus on gameplay...

But like.. wow, man I can forgive a lot of this when i heard it was FOR A GAME JAM! like, they managed all this on a short deadline?? Seriously the graphics are really good and they had customization and three colour variants for each monster! (Tho its a shame you can only have one of each, so its just random colours each time you play. It doesnt really have enough replay value aside from that.) So like.. yeah. The only problem the game has is that they focused so much on graphics that the rest seems a little rushed. But like.. it was only meant to be an hour long game anyway, so its still really impressive! Also even though there isn’t any actual story, there’s a lot of dialogue of your character just talking to themself while looking after the monsters, and they’re a nice sassy fourth wall breaking protag! So it was very enjoyable even though you’d think ‘no speaking characters except yourself’ would be a recipe for bad dialogue, lol

Misc random things I liked: * I LOVE ALL THE DESIGNS OF EVERYONE AAAAA * Fave: the non-humanoid pre-evolution to mermaids being a tiny lil beany goldfish that flies in the air and has THE MOST CUTEST EYES and sings like a human opera singer for no conceiveable reason. Final form mermaid was plenty cool too though, I liked the unusual choice of a dappled pattern goldfish instead of any more generic type of tail. And her arms being finlike was a neat design choice too! * I also really liked the baby form of the incubus, and both forms of carbuncle! * It was so nice to see the extra effort put into all the visuals, like the different emotion faces for the monsters when you click on them and the colour variants and the customizeable protagonist! * And it means SO MUCH that you decided to put a nonbinary option in your game! * The music is really catchy and the lil voice clips for the monsters are so adorable and I loved the protagonist’s lil Actual Pet Owner Quips, seriously its so damn cute just to see this person run around talking to themself for an hour about how much they love pets!

Misc random bad things/things that could maybe be improved: * It’s kinda just.. buy everything, beat game? I mean every clicker game is like that but its a little easier to see the man behind oz the great and powerful, if you know what I mean? Like for example you have a number of days counter but you don’t have a time limit and nothing happens on any particular day, so there isn’t even an incentive to play the clicker minigame or quiz minigame well except that grinding is boring and going slightly faster is less so. * Clicker game being fake. Seriously, there’s practically no way to lose! And it doesnt even challenge your clicking ability cos you’re just meant to buy things to increase the amounts of points each click gives you. And you dont earn money BY clicking, so its really unconnected and you can just sit there grinding the quiz minigame til you have enough money for your clicks to count more. * Quiz game is repetitive cos of the small pool of questions and how often you have to replay it, since its the only way to get money. Also the amount of money the clicker game gives you just increases based on how many monsters you’ve bought, so there’s kinda no reason to even raise your monsters? (EXCEPT THAT THEY ARE CUTE AND GREAT) It makes it rather annoying tho cos you’re gonna be grinding for AGES on your first two monsters and then all of a sudden you’re making loads of cash and the leap from 4-digit to 8-digit click counts doesnt even matter cos you bought so many toys they’re coming out your ears * Also its kinda weird that all the monster evolutions go from monster to humanoid, and all their third evolution is just a mildly more complicated costume for the humanoid. Like maybe make the final evolution more of a desireable thing? Maybe its a complete costume change, like maybe first evo doesnt already have the cool complex costume but wears a generic jrpg villager npc uniform, lol. And maybe have some monsters that just become bigger scarier monsters, or more pretty monsters? It just feels a tad unintentionally creepy to be running a farm entirely full of non-speaking apparantly non-sentient person looking things, i mean like nobody stops and thinks about how surreal Gardevoir is but it suddenly becomes more apparant when you’re playing the all-gijinkas-all-the-time mod Moemon... * Also it was a bit accidentally awkward at the beginning how the game asks you about your gender choice. Like, I absolutely do not think you were intentionally trying to have it come off that way! But umm.. having the farmer say “So, what exactly are you? I mean your gender! I must be going blind if I can’t tell from your face!” was kinda not a good thing to say, maybe? Like, in that context picking nonbinary is basically saying ‘no seriously that’s exactly what I’m trying to look like, lol, please leave me alone’. And also for binary trans folk too the whole “I can’t tell what you are” is kind of a relateable experience thats a bit sad in real life. So maybe just trim the sentence down and have something like ‘oh, here’s my glasses, now let me see what you look like’, cos I mean you then get to customize everything else as well as gender, lol!

A random suggestions, perhaps: * Maybe swap the quiz and the clicker game? like, looking after the monsters could be a quiz of [pet scenario happens] and then [pick solution]. And the repetitiveness would be less cos you could have all the monsters have different answers for the questions, like maybe you choose what to feed them or what game to play or etc! And then clicker game could be the monster show cos its like you cheering them on while they do tricks? * Or maybe give the monsters some sort of stats that make the player feel like their choices are changing things, and then perhaps the monster show rewards could be easier to raise cos you could enter different categories that have different stat requirements? * Perhaps add goals or deadlines to create more tension? Or special events that happen on certain days? * Could perhaps also add more characters, like maybe a rival monster farmer? * For some reason it weirdly bugged me that the button doesn’t light up/change/colour/animate in any way when you click on it? Thats just a minor detail but it’s something most clicker games have.

Some possible glitches I found: * It seems that the randomizer for the monster colours doesn’t work unless you close the game and reopen it, or maybe I just got really ridiculously bad luck? When i quit to menu after my first playthrough and started a second one, i had all the same monster colours that time. * The game seems to end after you buy the incubus, rather than after you finish evolving the incubus. That seemed a bit silly to me, that you miss out on his whole everything unless you keep playing after the credits roll.

Also even though I was dissappointed in the gameplay not being very present, please don’t be discouraged! This was really good for a game jam game and it has so much potential and I really really loved the cute characters!! I’m gonna post some more of my screenshots from my playthroughs cos i really did adore my monster pals!!

Ari made the we i r de s t noise waking up. i feel bad for anyone who might've heard it as she rolled over. Only to fall on the floor with a 'thump'. She opened her eyes a bit and looked up at the seeing, seeing the clock she had installed up there. 7:30 am. She got to her feet and shook her mouse to her computer, only to see V-Tale had shut off. Seems her entire computer had restarted..woops. She got to her feet and brushed herself off slightly, looking over at the bed, hoping her best friend hadnt woken up by her fall. Era blinks, snapping out of her thoughts when hearing a quiet thump. She proceeds to quickly get out of bed after hearing the noise- What if there's a intruder in the house?? Oh no that'd be bad. She opens her door before walking over to Ari's room and proceeding to knock on it "Heyyy are you okay?" Well Ari, you.. technically woke her up? She was awake anyways, she was just going back to sleep Ari walked over to the door and opened it quietly, giving a yawn first thing "oh- uh. Yea. sorry if i woke you." she mumbled "just fell off my chair-" she paused "-again.." that was some guilt. She chuckled to laugh it off and gave a tiny smile "did you get any, or well..enough sleep?" she asked, lightly patting her friend on the head "No you didn't wake me up it's okay- I was already awake." She blinks, staring at Ari "Uhm,, I think I did? Did you?" "I have no idea when i fell asleep. I walked into my room, watched VT for awhile and woop there i went." she muttered, rubbing her eyes slightly, "so..im not sure. but i mean.. i dont feel tired? like, more tired then normal. i feel normal, i guess." "Well that's good- If you feel normal, I mean- I dunno I'm still terrible with words." She pauses, taking a step backwards "M gunna go downstairs uhm, join me if you want to." She turns around, heading downstairs quietly Ari blinked, was Era okay? Was that normal? She tried recounting the times this had happened before, not remembering any.. She darted downstairs quickly and went and sat on the couch (not ontop of Max luckily), looking outside the window. The sun was up already, darn. Era looked over to Ari "Well that was fast." She blinks, looking over to where Max was sleeping on the couch "How was the talk with the newcomer yesterday?" Era questions, before sitting down on the couch herself "Max? Or Vincent?" she turned to look at her friend, then shrugged "Vincent, im p sure you heard that whole thing. i was kinda shook when i heard gunshots though. And Max seems cool. She watches VT and apparently didnt seem to know we lived right under north carolina. which is interesting. considering we're in south carolina. And she seems really eager about this job." she paused "..Era, you werent like, jealous or anythin were you? You sure acted like it. or was that just salt?" Haha,, Max shifted on the couch, opening her eyes for a second before closing them again, determined to stay asleep. She knew she wasnt gonna stay asleep though. Era immediately starts eating her cereal, giving a quiet "Thanks" to Ari Max looked slightly more awake, especially with the food sitting in front of her. "Thanks dude." She likes worms" "...We dont..have worms but. i can make do." she grinned and ran into the kitchen, coming out with a packet of gummy worms, showing them to Klondike "will these do?" she looked back at Max and Era "no problem btw. I make breakfast for everyone alot." "You lied about not having worms" "These arent worms but okay." she went and put the gummy worms on the side table to a chair and then went back into the kitchen, coming out a few seconds later with eggs, toast, and bacon, hiding the bacon from Klondike's view. there she goes, sitting next to Era again. nom nom time "kay, wait. how are we going to explain to the group why we're disappearing. We're the leader and co-leader, and Max is a new member." she hummed "We tell them we're going to get a book on how many lives we have and put whoever we trust as leader and co-leader for the time being." "Alright then. i doubt any of em are gonna get up anytime soon and." she checked the time again, humming "its currently like 2 pm for North Carolins-" she snickered when hering the scream, bursting into uncontrollable laughter, A r i n o Klondike leapt from his place and ran upstairs to help the Spop Ari got up and ran to the closet, opening the door to take out her quiver, and taking a cat earred beanie out of it. Up the stairs she went to go into Spops room "Spop heyy, i still,, uh. had your beanie. oops. Uh. Worms are downstairs on a table if you want to eat" she smiled and lightly tossed the beanie to Spop Spop looked at Ari and caught the beanie "Thank you" ;u; beanie is hugged Ari gave a thumbs up and ran back downstairs "oooh kay. as i was saying. its now 3 pm for the north fucks. So if we wanna get up there it'd be a good idea to get outta the house asap. So.." she shrugged "we'd only be gone for like a day unless we decide to hang out there for awhile. but i doubt we will." "Well uhm. Guess we should pack then. Right now." Era stands up, walking over to where she placed her catbag near the front door, picking it up and putting on her high-heel boots "Okay I'm ready." Maxi?" she glanced at the other nerdo, putting one of the papers on the table and quickly writing a note for the other PET members "I'm ready, bro." Spop looked at the people about to leave. "You are gonna come back right??" Era walks over to the front door, proceeding to open it "Yep! We'll be gone for around a few hours or so. Maybe a day. Now lets goooo!" Ari nodded "kay, got it. The note just tells them where we're goin, what we're doing, and whos in charge.- Oh, Spop! i almost forgot- uh.." she paused, then blinked "Era, im not leaving my daughter alone with the maniac.s" "There's only one maniac though, shouldn't Spop be safe with Arthur and Angy?" Narrows eyes "Do you really trust Arthur and Angy with Spop?" "Nope." "Spop, you're comin along. Grab Klondike, your worms, and lets go" she muttered, out the door she goes to get the car started "Ok!" She runs off to get what she needs Era proceeds to walk outside too, heading over to the car but not going inside of it yet, waiting for Spop and Max to come out too Spop runs back out with Klondike and her gummy worms Max walked slowly out behind Spop, picking through her bag for something. Era grabs the handle of the car door, flinging it open "Well- lets get in the car, since that's a thing you need to do." She slides into the shotgun seat Max sat on the back right, closing the door and already staring out the window. Spop sat in the backseat next to Max Ari sliiides herself into the drivers seat, putting the papers in the side thing and starting the car. Woop woop roadtrip Era smiles, "Roadtrip start! Ari don't crash the car." Ari chuckled "i wooont" looks abck at Max and Spop "i dont have a drivers license." she warned, looking into the side mirror. Out of the driveway they go Spop looked out the window, fixated on the outside world
