she doesn't know what's possessed her. in the maelstrom of warmth and equal measures fear that she'd never unearth from her unshakable pride; she thinks of how it's only been two months. two months since that cringe-worthy, embarrassing, loser of a man adopted her. gave her his name. two wolves exist inside her, fitting that they chase a rabbit with teeth (her, always her), and mizuki questions if it's even right to be doing this at all.

to be checking the instructions. to be making eggs in a disgusting way that makes them crispy and crunchy below and on top. with absurd amounts of paprika. two wolves inside her. the other of a man she wonders things.

( was there ever a time you loved me? daddy, hey -- was there ever a time you were happy i was born? or were you like mom ? did....you regret it? )

her biological father strung up like a fish with a hook and black bruises around his neck. hollowed out left eye and the wailing scream of a twelve year old walking once again into hell. maybe it always was like that, long before she was eight. maybe she just...was so used to taking it. two wolves inside her, a man with an artificial eye and a small apartment that is her home and a man murdered and brutalized being torn apart by the media; who placed in his cold dead hands a crown of thorns of inheritance for sunfish pocket and lemniscate. as if she can even begin to fathom how to deal with all that money.

" oh shit..! " she almost made them too crispy. she wasn't a good cook. her ability to be delicate was sorely lacking with her hands; more likely to cook than anything. she sprinkles a bit more of paprika before flipping them over again. eggs are...really the only thing she can make without breaking cups or pots or plates with monstrous strength. she has a sloppily written card by his desk. she didn't know what to do with it.

if she doesn't address that for once, she actually has a father, maybe one who even loves her, maybe for once she is most precious to someone. is it silly to think she's that for date? someone so precious? yeah it...it must be. why should she want that loser old man to cherish her anyway? or maybe she's fooling herself. date .... won't he regret this ? that stupid old man. that stupid, sickening pervert.

( i still remember how you held me that day. and then i started talking. and then i cried. and...it was warm. )

"h-hey! hasn't anyone told you to knock first before coming home, pervert?! you're soooo stupid you know that? can't you see i'm...." a beat, tremulous blue-grey eyes flitting away from the return of her adoptive father. the two wolves aren't going away. she clearly looks shaken and even skittish amidst the usual snark and hot temper. she scrambles to flip the eggs, mizuki sighing in faint relief that they aren't burnt half as bad as date probably would like them. she doesn't want to make crap, okay?!

".....y-you could have messaged me you were coming home, old man!" mizuki snaps, hands on her hips as she waves a spatula at him. in mizuki date's hands, anything could become a weapon. at least aiba's back too. she's still....getting used to her adoptive...fa...fa.....not yet, she can't even think it -- it's so frustrating. it's so terrifying -- old man, having an artificial intelligence so clearly alien yet human. who treats her with kindness and shares her sense of humor. who agrees on things she does, who seems to really have her own independent mind. it's...like having another big sister.

" d-don't look over here! i-i said you should have messaged me now you have to go back outside! outside, date! " mizuki snaps, though her fingers shake in both annoyance and fear.

is it okay to do this? will he laugh at me? why did he adopt me?

it's father's day and two wolves are inside her, one who should have been one but never was, and one who is but she isn't ready. she isn't ready to say it. not aloud. but....well, the card with adorabbit and some pictures sagan-sensei said would make him happy, why pictures of her at school would she has no idea, mizuki goes back to cooking.

act normal. act unaffected. act....act like it's not changing.

the note laden with pictures of her life at school that she wasn't aware were even took, lips pulled into a sunshine smile, startled her at first, but she can't focus on that right now. the damn eggs take all her concentration. the letter has crossed out lines and trembles in the handwriting. mizuki date afraid? ridiculous.

to old man pervert:

date, your hair still looks like soggy bread no matter what you do with it. you still eat pudding way too much. you still are collecting odoroki man chocolate like a child. you still say really weird things to me that i don't understand. you hog the bathroom in the morning. you still do stupidly reckless things. you keep stuff like aiba from me when i really like her.

and you adopted me like it was no big deal. i don't...know why you did that. maybe i'll never understand. you're not daddy. but....i think that's okay. maybe it always was okay. you're just date. and....something else but --- ugh, don't ask okay?!

you probably don't even know what date it is so i'm not even gonna say it it but......

there's something i want to say sometime. but only if you get your act together. and also....thank you date. i was really happy you -- (the rest is scribbled out). anyway i guess i wanna thank you. for....well, shut up! i just do, okay?! so...thanks date. and enjoy your eggs because i am totally not making this crap ever again -- until next year at least.

and.... i don't regret moving in four years ago. even if i don't understand you doing that, even if you drive me absolutely insane. even if you scare me sometimes when you're gone for a while.i was happy. and....i'm still happy. and that drives me insane too. maybe that's okay. i guess i'll keep living together with you.

recommendations of visual novels on sale for the steam winter sale 2023

steam's winter sale just started and will run for the next two weeks, so if you're looking for a new visual novel to try (or want to get into them), here's a lot that I've played that are on sale on steam.

umineko when they cry

the ushiromiya family returns to the family head's home on an isolated island for their annual conference with the intention of settling how his vast amount of wealth is divided. instead, though, a letter is left from someone claiming to be a "witch". with the ushiromiyas dropping left and right, the mystery behind everything remains to be solved.

I can't make a recommendation list without mentioning umineko. it's life changing. it might even trans your gender. it's hard to describe umineko, but just know that it's absolutely deserving of the "cult classic" tag.

follow phoenix wright as he embarks on his career as a lawyer to help people. meet a variety of clients and prove their innocence by collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and exposing lies in court.

ace attorney is one of the classic mystery visual novels, being a blend of point-and-click elements via investigations and visual novel storytelling. the steam port is a massive collection, combining the first 3 games (the original phoenix wright trilogy) as 1 game.

investigative gameplay segments, a good chunk of the story is point-and-click parts

VERY long for the whole trilogy- each game is around 20 hours long and the steam edition is 3 games

modern mystery with supernatural elements

ai: the somnium files

play as detective kaname date as he hunts down a serial killer using a cutting-edge technology which allows him to "psync" with a person, diving into the memories of others to solve crimes in a limited amount of time with the help of his AI assistant/eyeball Aiba.

aitsf is a lot. it's probably the raunchiest non-eroge game I've ever played and despite my low tolerance for dirty jokes I found most of it to be laughable and a fun experience, though I did play this with friends. if it's a miss for you, it's gonna miss you by a wide margin, but if it's a hit for you, you're going to be recommending it nonstop. either way you'll want to hit kaname date with a car.

notes:

long, around 25-35 hours

this game heavily relies on going back to prior choices via their branching menu to try other options in order to get the full story (and true ending). there are several endings to this game but you're meant to play through them all, not just one or two.

aoko aozaki is a highschooler who has to balance her class president, perfect grades life with her secret afterschool life of being a mage—a secret she has to keep at the risk of death. keeping this balance already isn’t easy but one day she gets a wrench thrown into it with the introduction of a transfer student, soujuurou shizuki, a country boy so out of touch that he’s never seen electricity before.

I love witch on the holy night so, so much. it's one of the most beautifully directed visual novels ever made with so much love and care put into each frame. the cast is wonderful (touko my beloved) and it's a must-read for anyone who likes modern-ish fantasy.

modern-ish (1980s) fantasy with lots of talking about magic

ghostpia

a snowy town filled with "ghosts" is where the young woman sayako finds herself trapped, feeling like she doesn't belong and wants to leave this town where no one dies.

it's hard to describe ghostpia. it's a surreal-ish story about "ghosts" where every character is quirkier than the last but every part is made with so much heart behind it. you never really know where the story is going, but unfortunately only 1 season is currently out on steam.

as a shapeshifting fox called a "gumiho", miho has traveled the world in search for a traveler who showed her kindness many years ago. afraid of sticking around in one place for too long, miho has never stayed anywhere for more than a few nights- but all of that changes when she arrives in wellington, new zealand and meets the barista/writer aspen and the vampire archivist juliet.

okay okay I had to recommend at least one visual novel I worked on. please be happy was a labor of love for our team that took over 3 years to make and is a slice of life story about love, trust, and what it means to be human.

When I think about Mizuki in aini it’s like, I know something is just so off about her but I have trouble articulating it. It’s really frustrating cuz she was like my favorite character in the first game and when I play the first game I feel like I have a really good idea of who she is as a character. Like she acts strong and and hangs out with people much older than her and has to take on a fuck ton of responsibility but she’s also just a kid she cuddles with a rabbit toy she raises fish in the fridge she can be kinda gullible in the way that kids are and she doesn’t always understand more mature jokes. She acts sassy and hostile towards Date but she’s described as kinda and compassionate by Hitomi and she defends the weak and loves her friends deeply and thinks Aiba is cute. She pokes fun at Date for being grumpy at the shrine and then excitedly holds his hand and drags him over to the offering box to pray for his safety and she gets scared when there’s danger and she hugs Date for comfort but then tries to brush it off because she was taught to feel shame whenever she required basic attention and affection. She was hurt badly by her biological family and finds herself at home with Date despite her fears of him not caring for her. Like she’s a really solid well rounded character with strengths and weaknesses and her story makes me feel every possible emotion known to man

Then I play aini and I was soooo excited to see that Mizuki was gonna be a protagonist and that she had Aiba (its what made me buy the game immediately after finishing the first game lol) and then like. I honestly can’t tell you a damn thing about her character in aini. Like she’s the protagonist for half that game and I can’t think of any particular struggles she has as a character or like any moments where she stands out. It’s like, I know this is Mizuki she has the same basic features of that character but she’s not really given much? And anything new you learn about her is just like, retcons of her already established and well written backstory that just. Really didn’t need to be made and honestly they just kinda do a disservice to her character

Like first off there’s the Bibi twist which. Oof. I have some pretty complicated feelings about Bibi in general like okay. When she appears as the masked woman I was totally on board and thought she was really interesting and I was so prepared for her to be a favorite character her somnium is probably my favorite one in the game. And then she was revealed to be Mizuki. And it was revealed that we were playing as her for half of the B side of the story and we didn’t know it. Like, where to even begin. They stopped writing Bibi as her own character and she pretty much just became Mizuki except idk, she has a bigger grudge against Ryuki and has a heart condition I guess. And like I think it really speaks to how flat Mizuki was in this game if we can play as two completely different characters and have them be indistinguishable. Bibi shouldn’t be anything like Mizuki, they’ve lived completely different lives. And I hate the clone twist like good god I really hate the clone twist because IT ADDS NOTHING TO MIZUKIS CHARACTER OR HER CONFLICT. In fact it like, actively goes against her arc from the first game??? Cuz like half the point of Date and Mizuki’s relationship is there to show that family isn’t what you’re born with, it’s what you make. Both Date and Mizuki feel like their little family can’t exist because they’ve been taught, like most of us have, that biological family is the most important and real and valid way to have a family. You’re supposed to love and respect your biological parents because they MADE you, and Date has to live with the anguish that he can’t be Mizuki’s REAL father because they aren’t blood related. So like, to pull the rug away and go "oh yeah btw I guess Mizuki was adopted lol" it just completely erases what made her story so impactful to most people. And the clone reveal adds nothing like Mizuki doesn’t NEED this at all she wasn’t looking to discover the truth of her backstory because. There wasn’t any truths that needed to be discovered, we already know her deal and so does she. And her having a clone doesn’t really fit with the half to whole theme cuz like, she wasn’t looking for a fucking clone or like a secret sister or anything like that. It’s just stupid it’s so stupid

What Mizuki needed was like, a new actual conflict that required her to overcome challenges and grow as a character. A lot of people, myself included, have complained about how her relationship with Date just isn’t talked about hardly at all, how he went missing for 6 years and they didn’t even get a proper reunion and the game kinda mocks you for wanting one. We dont get any context as to how Mizuki coped during that time like she was completely alone for the most major years of her life she was separated from the one person who was her real family and we don’t know what she felt during all that cuz the game refuses to talk about it. And there isn’t much indication that the adults care about this either, Boss maybe has a soft spot for her but that’s kinda the extent of it, she makes a joke that Date is probably off chilling in a hot spring in Atami so clearly no one is giving Date’s disappearance the weight it deserves. So like, we have this potential thing we could work with here like why is Mizuki a detective now and why does she care about this case? Because her dad was taken by tearer and has been gone for 6 years and she’s been all alone and she wants to find him and find out if he’s even alive and she wants to kick tearers ass cuz he tore (hehe) her family apart. And this can also give her an actual connection to Ryuki too like Ryuki is the one who betrayed Date and knew some shit about tearer and saw what happened to Date and he just never told Mizuki the truth and she’s spent all this time looking for Date so this would be like, pretty major conflict when it all gets revealed. And it actually gives what Ryuki did actual consequences that affect him cuz honestly the fact that no one seems to care that much about Date’s disappearance makes Ryuki’s guilt and depression seem completely fucking useless lol. So here we go, that’s some conflict for Mizuki to have and it gives her a personal connection to the case, we can add more to it but really even this alone is way more than what she’s given in the actual game. And I think just the big problem with her in aini is I think the writers were too afraid to do anything that could ruin her character or cause her to change too much so they just like. Didn’t write anything that could allow her to develop and instead just fucked with already established information about her which. I honestly don’t know how that is seen as better??? In what fucking world. It just feels really pointless to have even made Mizuki a protagonist to begin with since they don’t really do anything with her and lol I think the writers realized this so that’s why like. Ryuki gets all the character conflict but makes lowkey no progress in the case and the real investigation doesn’t happen until the Mizuki side cuz they needed to make up for the fact they didn’t write anything for her alskla

So yeah just to wrap things up, Mizuki just didn’t get to be a character in aini and she wasn’t given any interesting conflict despite how easy it would’ve been cuz the writers were too scared of doing anything with this character that could ruin her but dude. Dont fucking make her the protagonist then if you’re too scared of doing anything with her. Don’t piss me off like that

5. Boss

It's in her name, she gaslights, gatekeeps, girlbosses and looks good doing it! Jokes aside though, I love how she is simultaneously secretly and subtly caring while also just. blunt and unapologetic about overworking her subordinates or unashamed to crack dirty innuendos. She has all sorts of random trinkets and junk all over her office, from boy band posters to christmas trees to party decorations. Shady but with a heart of gold. She's not quite as deep a spoiler angst rabbit hole character as some others, but she's a joy every time she's on screen, ya love to see her <3

4. Hitomi

This is my one underrated underdog pick, but ourgh, loving and supportive single mothers doing their best while keeping their dark tragic backstories private from their kids, my beloved <3 I could delve into detail just how magnificent her backstory is, from the circumstances of her being a mother to her tragic past love life, and how being a stereotypical normal boring sweet schoolteacher mother figure, she's been unfortunately involved in the most dangerous secrets but just trying to live her best life with her daughter despite it. Hitomi my beloved, seemingly simple characters with hidden depth, my beloved

3. Aiba

She is soooo silly and also maybe the only sane person here, or at least sane in the way an AI personality would be. She is Date's AI assistant and also his prosthetic eye, and the right gif is the form she takes when she's outside of his eyesocket. The left gif is her digital avatar form. She's constantly judging Date's thoughts and actions, she gets excited about bugs, she helps Date be a better parent (more on that later), she does Hacker Skillz on a whim, she might be capable of actual love even as an AI! Truly a worthy pfp :3

2. Date

You've heard of Love to Hate, but this guy will force you to learn what Hate to Love means. Cringy horny porn-addict failure of a person, how dare you be an amazing character with a super sad spoiler backstory and amazing angst going on. I need to push him down some stairs right now. He has a fantastic coworker good cop/bad cop dynamic going on with Aiba his eyball assistant (he's mysteriously missing an eye and Aiba is his replacement), and he's a grumpy but genuinely trying temporary guardian for a bratty middle schooler who holds him in contempt and pretends to hate him (i.e. we're talking wet cat & wet cat found family dynamics >:)

1. Mizuki

I love this child. I would do anything for this child. I would do anything to be this child. Snarky ass middle schooler. Human weapon of mass destruction because why not. Had a hard home life with her abusive or neglectful parents and is now a tsundere wet cat found family roommate with Date whom she bullies like a sibling but is still in denial about who her real family are. She carries grenades and such in her backpack even to school and she carries her favorite lead pipe with her everywhere. (spoilers) she has seen both of her parents' dead bodies and in some timelines her best friends' and favorite teacher's as well...

Ough the character depth and growth and angst and silliness of this character, the sheer badassery, her iconic-ness--oh yeah, she canonically says in game says that she respects and is inspired the LGBT community (based). You just can't get more S-tier than Mizuki. Might be favorite character of all time. I'm so excited when I eventually play the sequel because she's the protagonist in it! :D

Date literally takes in a whole child when he can barely remember how to take care of himself all because she needs him!! Because he’s the only adult who can and is willing to take care of Mizuki even if she’s his friend’s kid, he gives her a comfortable and stable home where she can be the bratty kid she really is instead of trying to be quiet and out of the way! Then there’s Date’s sentient AI eyeball prosthetic Aiba, they bicker but deeply care about each other and he doesn’t know how to function without her and by the end of Mizuki’s route in the game they canonically ARE all a found family together and I love them lmao.

They have the best father-daughter/older brother-younger sister/two random assholes stuck together dynamic you could possibly ask for. Mizuki's bio parents sucked so when she was 8 Date was like hey, come live with me, we'll be roommates for like a month while your parents get their shit together. And then they were roommates for FOUR YEARS. Mizuki bullies Date constantly and Date makes dumb jokes that she hates and they're both stupid tsunderes that can't admit they really care for each other until it's the end of the line and a bunch of people are dead (it's a murder mystery game and a LONG story). At the beginning of the game Date uses his expensive secret agent machine to go inside Mizuki's brain and solve puzzles in her dreams to help her recover from trauma, and then at the END of the yellow route (the best ending IMO) Mizuki does the same thing for Date and there's a moment where she can run to her parents and leave Date alone..... but she runs to Date instead... and it makes me fucking WEEP!!! they care so so much about each other and it makes me fuckign feral I want to eat my computer they are so goddamn family

nothin on ryuki but man she's so fun to play as. it's alos just. nice that she and aiba act a lot friendlier to each other. dont get me wrong tama and ryuki's dyanmic is fun, and i know they really care about each other, but like. doing the crime scene investigation and aiba cheering mizuki on with her acting was really sweet. i loved it.

the mizuki boss daughter mother thing ramble starts here.: so i read all the profiles and glossary stuff pretty religiously, and i know that in Boss's glossary for her current profile, it says she adopted Mizuki. and if not for that it would be impossible to tell. come on gangggg that's so insanely interesting as a concept can anyone mention it like even vaguely in passing im BEGGING. i also nEED to know more on bosses First daughter, who i suspect is missing now? maybe she's related in some way to kizzy's first Big Sis?

but srsly its bugging me so bad, like that tracks w/ how casual mizuki is to her but !! it drives me insane there's a literal interaction in which boss says 'dont act like my daughter' and the take away is that mizuki SOMEHOW didnt know about bosses FIRST daughter bcs it NEVER came up?? im assuming boss just lied there and the daughter thing slipped out, (more points for boss daughter and kizzy sister same girl, both remind them of mizuki), so despite the fact that, i dont know, adopting a girl after already adopting one kind of feels like the sort of thing that would end up being mentioned somewhere in there, paticulartly considering that boss's daughter was still living with her as of one day before date died, like. she didnt come home that night and im assumin gshe never did, ran away or something??

i can't tell if the game is just setting breadcrumbs in a weird way or if they just decided boss should be a mom now and then never actually do anythin w/ it. AND SECONDLY, how is THAT the wtake away when 'dont act like my daughter' is a legitimately insane thing to say to the GIRL YOU ADOPTED. SHE LITERALLY IS YOUR DAUGHTER THAT IS HOW ADOPTION WORKS AM I LOSING MY MIND.

so putting that aside: hilarious they didn't model lien any differently. i like to think this is a repersentation of his inabilty to move on. im just. im choosing to believe that. i'm not a wheelchair user, so I can't speak to much on the whole arc kizuna's got going on here, i'm just kind of... carefully watching it. it could be... alright? but it could also drift into some territory i feel is kind of. stereotype-y?

haven't found shoma yet, on a note semi related to the mizuki boss thing. his house is identical to how it was 6 years ago down to whats been left on the floor and you're telling me he still lives there. does aitsf suddenly take place in a world where children over the age of 11 can just chill out on their own-- I SWEAR THIS MANS WIFE LEFT HIM. WHO IS WATCHING THIS CHILD. HELLO?? CAN ANYONE HEAR ME?? being buddies with lien is not a legal guardian!!!!!

COMPLAINTS ASIDE> ima ctually having a lot of fun. inverted controls is a . im mixed on it on one hand it's a litttttle cheap making it physically harder instead of making more complex puzzles. on the other hand it fits so so well and its just the right level of challenge for me so i kinda love it.

💤 - How does your muse sleep? Are they a light sleeper, or are they out the moment their head hits the pillow? Do they nap? Do they struggle to sleep due to things like insomnia, or nightmares?

Wylan is definitely a light sleeper! Just one step further and he'd be the 'sleep with one eye open' kind of character. He'll feign sleep a lot too, so 9 times out of 10 when you're thinking you're getting the drop on him... he's just letting you. You should expect this kind of manipulation from him, really. Connects with his willing subject mentality. Wylan wants people to mess with him. He wants to be teased and hit with markers or someone to curl up with him (don't we all).

It's possible to tucker him out, sure! He tuckers himself out! But even then he's not hard to wake. Dreams are rarely pleasant and he does front a lot of his energy after particularly bad nights. Ironically he does fall asleep quickly, which may be a reason why he's prone to staying out late because he knows he's going to be subjecting himself quickly to bullshit when he hits the pillow.

Yes, Mizuki ended up learning to cook for herself due to absent parents growing up. Not the best, but enough to keep herself fed when need be. Microwave queen. Stovetop princess...? Passable skills, and she learns decently quick. But that's where we'll leave her current skillset (as of post-timeskip).

Cooking isn't something that really interests her after all. Baking? Not attempted, and probably wouldn't go great...? Though if you think about it working together with Aiba would probably give her a leg up on the challenges thanks to AI shenanigans. Also a handy reminder for timers she may have forgot she set.

Haven't we all had the blackened oven disaster...? Dealing with the smoke was awful. At least her parents never found out. Date doesn't know it happened either. And even if it did, she has more dirt on him to counter with.

👻 - How does your muse handle feeling scared? Do they enjoy horror? Do they believe in the paranormal? What calms your muse down? Do they have any scary stories?

No no not particularly. Raguna isn't terrible with horror but he has a strong preference against it when he can help it. Will it stink up a group event where people want to visit a house or other attraction? No. Will he like it? Not a ton... scary movies are included here. The preference there has long been for adventure and uplifting stuff. Horror's not going that direction. For an optimist like himself with certain idealistic mentalities horror can feel like a spit in the face.

Fortunately, it's not hard for him to be calmed down. :') Even outside his home verse he's used to various degrees of pressures and stresses. Some time to separate himself, take a long drink and decompress will lead to a calmed down Guna in little to no time! ALL THIS SAID: Yes, he believes in the paranormal. He's capable of certain strange feats himself, it'd be hard to deny the existence.

🎶 - What kind of music does your muse listen to? Do they have a favorite genre? Do you think the aux cord would be taken away from them?

Samus primarily enjoys atmospheric and orchestral music. Any kind of track that can evoke imagery of landscapes and grand sceneries. In places of safety, like on her ship, she can even fall asleep to it and will happily do so. Stressful missions require moments of winding down (it's the trauma) and she'll sit overlooking a vista with orchestra playing out an audio story in her head. She's got a powerful imagination. And music both helps to relax it and exercise it in ways that are.... healthier... than the levels of violence she is capable of.

I think she'd find a way to 'enjoy' just about anything though. Samus is a worldly sort of woman, and when prompted to sample will gladly do so. Her reaction will be honest, mind you, and vulgar material (very heavy metal or crass lyrics to anything) will push her to ... semi-politely decline sampling further.

You can give her the aux cord! Just don't expect anything particularly profound or amazing. :')

🤸‍♀️ - How active is your muse? Do they exercise regularly? Do they do things like yoga? What else do they do to keep fit and active? Are they flexible? Can they do parkour?

Yes! Eira is mindful of her figure regardless of verse. She's not in peak/perfect shape but she is the sort of woman that will fret if she feels an extra contour to her middle. Diet and discipline helps the most in that regard, but she's not skimping on keeping active either. Some verses she's much more active than others, to no surprise.

Particularly combat focused- like FE and Arknights. Eira will be working out and going through training to go beyond just the 'self defense' she sorta utilizes (to a degree) in her modern verses. Safe to say the baseline is she's working out enough that she doesn't struggle opening (most) jars.

Yoga. Cardio. Some minor weights.

...I don't see her doing parkour in any verse, however. She leans the 'battlemage' class type with some dabbling in barbarian, not bouncing rogue. :'D

⛄️ - What would be your muse's ideal weather conditions? Do they prefer being hot or cold? What's their favorite season?

From the highest cold peaks to the tropical depths of a forest. Dogi will go just about anywhere and Handle It. His preference is on the warmer side! Tropic/warm areas tend to have more hot spots of travel after all. But he'll survive. Favorite season is gonna be... Summer/Fall!

Are you asking this question to be funny?! Or are you trying to be mean... suffice to say it's not something to prompt Tharja herself with. She's shirking social situations as a standard, and singing is something done for others. I think she's of course capable of it. Her voice is pleasant enough when it's not mumbling curses or making those eerie laughs.

But I don't think she'd be able to sing in front of anyone without it being some kind of trap (DO NOT DO THIS).

🍺 - How does your muse feel about the consumption of alcohol? Do they drink? Are they a heavy drinker, or are they on the lighter side? What's your muse's favorite alcoholic drink?

All good things in moderation. Except for exercise and the improvement of one's body. That can go off the charts. Clearly. Armstrong won't involve himself especially with the culture of drinking which is to say he won't be throwing back countless drinks for the fun of it to act goofy. But he will drink.

He will act silly(er). And he will have a good time. I picture him especially having a few at celebrations like a wedding or for the birth of a child. Merry man has a merry little drink. Not that he needs his social abilities lubricated. I see him being discouraged after a few drinks have been had.

Casually, the most I see Armstrong involving is certain tastings. He's FRENCH. You know he's drinking wine.

Nijisanji JP Facts, pt. 1

1) Naraka’s older brother is a huge Akina fan to the point he has joined Akina’s membership, got a red highlight, grinded on valorant so he had a chance to match with Akina in random matches, texted Naraka when she’ll play apex with Akina, calls Akina his bf/princess, and made Naraka’s little sister think he got a girlfriend.

2) Fuwa, despite being a host, typically has had pretty scary/unusual relationships before. He had a menhera ex who would stab him with a fork, been targeted by older women, stated he has been (and i quote literally) eaten up by his senpais when he was still in school, and stalked before. Of all the relationships he has been through (including his three digit body count /doubt), Fuwa considers that only around 5 (maybe less) of those relationships were out of true love. 

3) Aiba Uiha has a licence for the heaviest type of motorcycle in the world. She can also lift said motorcycle because in order to get a licence for a motorcycle you have to be able to lift it. Additionally she has also won an award for some type of competitive sport. She doesn’t tell us what the sport is incase we try to look for her past life online. Also bonus she can do a hand stand idk I just found that neat.

4) On his sister's birthday when he was younger, his mom took Mashiro and his sister to disneyland to celebrate the date. When they were going home, while Mashiro was closing his eyes in an attempt to doze off, he started hearing his sister crying and yelling. He originally thought it was just his sister being a brat again before looking over and realizing his mother tried to kill the entire family by driving them off a cliff and his sister had stopped her.

5) Kataribe Tsumugu is a ghost librarian liver who has only streamed 3 times with her last stream being 3-4 years ago. Despite this she is still considered to be an active member in Nijisanji. Additionally Gilzaren is an EXTREMELY inconsistent liver who barely streams despite being seen decently often around the Nijisanji circle (Ex. Covers, NijiJuu, Niji Mario Kart, etc.)

so i was able to finish both games of AI: The Somnium Files last month and I REALLY just want to talk about the best character of the series (i am not biased please agree with me) Mizuki !!

im just gonna rant about mizuki's route mainly (and also date family shenanigans)

her character throughout the series and both games is just ... so lovable?? in the first game, she was the perfect balance of bratty and being a kid while at the same time, she had already gone through so much

i dived into the game blindly and when i was forced to make a choice in her somnium, i decided to pick the balloon option and i immediately regretted everything after seeing the results (i literally kept screaming IM SO SORRY MIZUKI FOR MAKING YOUR TRAUMA WORSE) and after finishing iris' route, i immediately went for her route right after

and mizuki's route did not disappoint (i am totally not biased) and i wished that the deepness of her relationship with date in her route and how it developed transferred over to the right half of the game's flow chart since it really did get shafted hard for the true ending no hate to the sagan family though as much as i also loved date/falco's relationship with both iris and hitomi, i think that they deserve another member of the family

back to the topic of mizuki's route, the scene where she tries to talk to an unconscious date at the hospital broke my heart since she witnesses first hand her only remaining parental figure in her life almost gets killed (another note, i accidentally did the bad end of mizuki's route first since i wanted to kill so sejima that badly) and how she tried to poke around at boss' name saying that it doesn't fit her gaahh date just wake up

doing date's somnium felt bittersweet but also it made me feel warm inside especially at the ost that played in the background and the memories that they both made in the tiny apartment where they reside together. if you consider how date never really had a true family (and because sadly all of his memories with the sagans are just poof) but he still was able to call out on the abuse and neglect that shoko and renju had done respectively and he was still able to raise her properly despite her complicated family life !!!! and in the end how mizuki reassured date that she needed him and when he woke up, she welcomed him home in her usual fashion (by giving an affectionate kick)

moving on to nirvana initiative mizuki, i literally gave into temptation because of the steam sale that i bought the game right away even though i was not finished with the main game yet and it was a must since mizuki was protag (ryuki i love you but i kinda spedrun thru ur half so i can get to mizuki's lmfao)

I LOVED PLAYING AS MIZUKI WHILE I WAS PLAYING AINI and while i am VERY bitter that her whole relationship with date was shafted to the side once again... i can never really win but it gave me abis found family crumbs which is nice !! but this fact alone makes me biased with the outcome of the secret ending where the explosion never happened and date didn't need to lose his memory for the second fucking time and he was able to be present for most of mizuki's life BUT THEN AGAIN . his reunion with mizuki during the gen and amame route and the resolution route i feel was done in their style, not really a tearful reunion but the love is still there, especially how when he was in gen's suit at the latter route, listening to her conversation with aiba because he had the receptor on including the one time he interacted with her inside of their heads when she tried to come up with a plan to get rid of the SAT and he tells her that it was better to raise the white flag in a bittersweet tone ... concerned papa fr

9. worst part of canon: i don't want to say all of aini because that's mean and some parts of it were very good (i would die for ryuki and tama). so i'm gonna go with a toss-up between every time uchikoshi is unnecessarily horny (this includes most characters' treatment of iris and excludes everything tama has ever said) and kaname date's entire character and storyline in aini. making a big deal out of his disappearance only to reveal that he was just in atami and an amnesiac for six years is stupid. having his appearance stay the same because he "had a silicone mask of saito's face" is stupid. everyone had wild pre-release theories on how date could still be in saito's body and nearly every single one of them is more interesting than the truth. this is only the first question and it's already getting so long and i don't care. his entire treatment of aiba and mizuki. he lost aiba in the resolution route, she was the one who made him whole, and you expect us to believe that he'd get into a genuine fight with him and they'd separate? it's like the writers forgot that he's actually a genuinely compassionate person underneath all of his old man bickering. it's why mizuki route works so well- and speaking of mizuki, we were absolutely robbed of a proper reunion in aini. all we got was a poorly timed "welcome home" that was immediately followed up with another porno mag joke. because date's just the porno mag guy, we can't have him show any other emotions for too long or the game will explode. i'm going back to the mask thing real quick- it could've at least been interesting if they went into it as him preferring saito's face to his own. but they didn't. just a "ohhh the ladies like this one more" boy shut UP. i hate you pandering to new fans and defeating the point to a sequel. i love you version of aini that lives only in my head. oh god this is still only the first question. i'm so sorry chey

20. part of canon you found tedious or boring: hmm. well if we're going for boring i could say date's character in aini BUT i already wrote a whole essay on that so i'll pick a different answer. a lot of mizuki's side in aini was kind of boring/disconnected. i know in hindsight this is because half of the time you're not mizuki, you're bibi, but when you're playing for the first time you don't know that, and it makes mizuki seem watered down and bland compared to ai1. you have to withhold a lot of information from the player to pull off the timeline twist, and while it works, it comes at the cost of mizuki's characterization. she feels a lot flatter in aini because we're locked out of so much of the narration. the same can also be said for bibi, and we're locked out of even more of her true thoughts since the game misleads us into thinking she's mizuki. the result is that mizuki doesn't feel like herself, and we don't truly get to experience bibi's thoughts. i like bibi but her execution left a lot to be desired

Nightmare Polycule: The cirsed creation of like. 4 people on a niche fandom discord. Polycule consisting of pretty much every adult character in the series. It's awful and somehow the best thing ever. The potential for both crack and angst is unmatched. The divorced parents energy is OFF THE CHARTS. Marcia realizes she is a morosexual and has a crisis about it. Gringe confronts his prejudices by falling for a no-good wizard. Jillie Djinn is Marcia's ex and also dead and also GHOSTING ON HER COUCH which makes it very hard to bring her boyfriends over. Marcellus tries to be dramatic about the fleetingness of human life (except his) and gets made fun of until he confronts his trauma instead. Sarah and Mrs Gringe are having tea and getting a break from the drama.

Nokia/Ami: (spoilers for the game) all the fan stuff ive seen for the game is painfully straight unless its focusing on the two ships where one character is canonically gay n in love with the other (protag of the sequel game with his gay bestie i forgot the name of n yuuko/fei) n ami is usually just drawn on her own BUT theres a lot of canon subtext between nokia n ami mostly as a result of not much actually changing based on if u play as a boy or a girl regardless nokia to some extent likes ami she flirts with her talks about their relationship as if theyre already dating theres a scene that parallels a m/f couple in the game that plays exactly the same between ami n nokia with two other characters saying something along the lines of ah young love during a mandatory side quest ami gets offered an implied sex doll that looks exactly like nokia (weird story there the quest ends with it being heavily implied that the people that take the dolls end up having their organs harvested while their minds are stuck in a digital space called eden unaware that theyre not in the real world) n she has to think about it before declining the offer nokia's character arc is working to become a strong leader n reliable friend cause she wants to stand next to ami instead of relying on her theyre childhood friends but forgot about it ok i need to explain a bit more of the story so like as kids ami n nokia along with three other characters met beta testing for eden n one of them ended up getting eden syndrome to make sure theyre all able to leave safely (theres a thing called eaters that if u get eaten by put u in a coma cause theyre storing the contents of ur brain in them) n a guy who wants to use the eaters to get to the next stage of evolution removes their memories of the incident so years later as teenagers ami nokia n arata (one of the childhood friends important to the story but not to the ship) become friends again n reunite on eden where ami ends up getting eden syndrome but in a funky way cause she was logging out as she got eaten so she has a cyber body that over the course of the game deteriorates n at the end of the game ami basically dies right as everything is being fixed all the victims of eden syndrome are no longer comatose but ami is cause yknow kind of deteriorated too much n it happened right in front of nokia's eyes as she reached out for her hand so they could go home together n nokia cries for the only time in the game cause of that but ive genuinely never seen any fan stuff of them interacting so despite them being teased romantically n built up as being really important to eachother theres nothing not even like nokia with takumi (boy protagonist) im submitting it specifically as nokia/ami just cause i like wlw ships more if u want to do it neutrally protag's surname regardless of gender is aiba sorry if this is incoherent its been like 6 months since ive played the game

Sigh, what a day. Aiba had decided to stay with Mizuki and Iris when they went to play this forge-whatever game. He wanted to hit the bed for a couple of hours before he returns back to work. Because he will go back to work, he didn't return to the Sagan's resident and opt to stay in his apartment. He ... didn't want to make that home a stop place. Even though he knows Hitomi wouldn't even think about it, the guilt eats him up for treating that warm home like a motel.

He dropped face first on the couch to catch some z's. God only knows how long he was passed out when he heard knocking on the door. True his heart rate if Aiba was around would accurately tell that it shot off the roof, he might have a heart attack right this minute. He hadn't wrapped his arms around her for support due to the initial shock but now he register her presence in front of him.

"Hitomi, I..." he tried to mumble something against her lips which shortly she pulled away (GOD FUCKING KILL HIM, SHE IS BLUSHING!!! SHE IS BLUSHING!! HOW CAN HE NOT GET TURNED ON BY THAT LOOK ALONE, HUH!? THANK FUCKING GOD AIBA IS NOT AROUND TO RADIO OUT HIS THOUGHTS. though.. er, his face was an obvious tell when he was just staring at her dazed.)
