Crime and Punishment Warrior Cats AU

Okay, so for organizational purposes, I'm going to make a list of characters I'm going to keep in the AU, then a list of characters I'm not keeping and why. Obviously, when translating this story into the warrior cats universe, there are going to be things that just don't fit. (btw ✅ means I've finished their ref sheet and successfully turned them into a kitty cat.)

Raskolinikov ✅

Pulkheria Alexandrovna ✅

Avdotya Romanovna (despite her and her mother living in a different place than Raskolnikov, I'm going to omit that from this AU, since they end up coming to St. Petersburg anyways, and warrior cats characters basically stay in the same place for their whole lives.) ✅

Razumikhin ✅

Alena Ivanovna (Moneylenders don't exist in warriors so I'll need to figure out a different reason for why Raskolnikov would have been doing business with her and for why Porfiry Petrovich originally began to suspect Raskolnikov.)

Lizaveta Ivanovna

Marmeladov (I think I'm gonna make it so he ran away from the clan, like how Marmeladov in the book ran away from his family?)

Katerina Ivanovna

Sofya Semenovna ✅

Polya, Lenya, and Kolya (they will be kits and the same age. No way a cat had three separate single babies loll)

Svidrigaylov (He will be from another Clan. I need to figure out how and why he would come to the clan Raskolnikov lives in, and how Dunya could have gone to live with him. Maybe by bending the Warrior Code in my universe to make it more common for cats to move clans like how people irl can move cities...? Idk yet)

Marfa Petrovna

Peter Petrovich (same deal with Svidrigaylov; he will be from a different clan)

Lebezyatnikov (tbh he only stays because he was important for one scene LMAO)

Zosimov (He will be the medicine cat, obviously :3)

Porfiry Petrovich (He will be the clan deputy; I want him to hold some power in the clan, but not enough that he'd be able to exile Raskolnikov without having to prove he was the murderer. I still dk who the clan leader will be...)

Nikolay and Dmitri (will just be regular warriors that just so happened to see Raskolnikov at the crime scene.)

The rest of the characters I add will just be NPCs to fill out the clan. Maybe I'll base some of their personalities on the characters I left out. The left out characters are:

Raskolnikov's landlady (whose name I wouldn't even remember if it weren't listed at the end of the book) and Nastasya. As much as I liked Nastasya, there's no real reason to keep the landlady character in the AU at all, since landladies don't exist in Warriors. Like I said above, I may keep Nastasya as a background character, maybe just some concerned cat who comes to check in on Raskolnikov from time to time. Though I can't really think of a reason for why she would do that unless it were her job.

Natalia Egorevna. The only purpose she served in the book was that Raskolnikov was going to marry her in exchange for living in Zarnitsyna's apartment or whatever it's called. Dostoevsky had his reasons for including this, I'm sure, but I don't see it as all that important and it just doesn't make sense for Warriors. RIP.

Amalia Ivanovna. Another landlady. Again, I might keep her as a background character, but the only role she'd fill is stirring up trouble at Marmeladov's vigil and pissing off Katerina Ivanovna so bad she loses it.

Kapernaumov. He literally doesn't even speak once in the book. Does anyone care that I'm not including him?

Zametov, Nikodim Fomich, and Ilya Petrovich. They can all be condensed into one character, which is Porfiry. All the police station scenes can be changed so that it was Porfiry he was talking to instead. They serve their purpose in the book so that Porfiry would be suspicious of Raskolnikov without them having to meet face-to-face yet, but I can change things around to fix that. Maybe Raskolnikov goes to see the leader instead, and the leader wouldn't be suspicious but Porfiry is. Or I can just say the part where Raskolnikov meets him for the first time in the book isn't the first time in the AU, because why would Raskolnikov not know the clan deputy, at least as acquaintances?

OK rambling over! If no one reads this but me, that's fine, as I'm mainly keeping this so that I know who to make ref sheets for. Esp since I'm going to have to return my copy of Crime and Punishment to the library soon LOL. If anyone has suggestions for names or ways I can change characters and events to fit better into the Warriors universe, please tell me! :D

oh jesus christ where to start.

so. ok.

when this guy was just a little kitty his mom died and he was told to get revenge for that. when he was a less little kitty he was reaaally pining after this girl squirrelflight and they were in a relationship and he was overprotective and coddling towards her so she left him to be with her ex brambleclaw who she had a fight with previously but had now been resolved. ashfur did. not. like that. he meets this charming gay cat named hawkfrost and they plot a scheme to kill the leader but he chickens out at the end and hawkfrost dies. years later squirrelflight has gotten three babies and one of those got apprenticed to ashfur and ashfur promptly tried to kill the little baby kitten because he’s mean. once more years later. boom. fire. squirrelflight and her kittens who were adults now wanted to get over but ashfur took an opportunity and blocked their path and was like “haha im emo and now you’re gonna feel the pain i felt bcs you friendzoned me 20 years ago by killing your children” and SQUIRRELFLIGHT pulls a fucking power move and tells him they’re not her children and he’s like “oh. ok i’m gonna reveal your secret about that then” and let’s them pass and later on one of her children kills him by the lake so he won’t tell.

he went to cat heaven for, quote: “loving too much”. but he decided that that sucked so he decided to find this small boy named shadowsight that nobody liked and groomed him to be his messenger. he hit this little boy with lightning and said that there are codebreakers (these cats follow a code) that needs to be rid of pretending to be starclan. he then tells the boy to kill brambleclaw who is now leader to save him and when brambleclaw loses one of his lives ashfur snatches his body and for a while pretends to be him with being a bitch towards squirrelflight and punishing and hurting any cat he views as a “code breaker” for even the most minor of offenses. he grooms another child to be his spy and there starts to build a resistance against him including squirrelflight. she fakes her death so he’ll get of her case and he starts a war over that so that happens and then he gets hurt and they realize that oh. that’s not brambleclaw is it.

he gets put in the medicine den and is planned to be killed but escapes just in time because squirrelflight couldn’t kill the body of her mate and he pulls her into hell. yes. literally.

in hell he’s like “uwu you have nowhere to go can we date :3” and she just fucking RUNS for it. in this hell he is able to control the spirits that have gone there and he has also blocked the path between cat heaven and hell so that the clans haven’t been able to communicate for so long.

he double dies by being drowned with another cat, uh this is the cliffnotes version btw there’s a lot. checking the crimes on his villains wiki page is the funniest thing ever. so yeah. ashfur. what a man

But off the top of my head (this is super quick and inaccurate because I don’t have a functioning memory-

Sussanah who’s our super rad main character get’s sent to Juvie cause she tries to kill herself her adoptive parents are like cba with this shit bye. That’s basically explained in Sussanah’s song which is a tune. Also her annoying bf Francis is all “I’m gonna save you it’ll be chill”

So she gets to Nation and she brings her ukulele cause it’s neat and she meets Miss Asp who’s a bitch and Miss Asp is like no uke for you and she cuts the strings. Also Sussanah has a stutter and that’s a thing. So she meets the squad and here’s an outline of those first impressions:

Judith- A bitch, she’s like the scary top dog who’s ready to fight al the time

Kitty- Legit everyone loves her because she’s just great. She’s in nation cause she’s trans and it’s the 60s and her dad is rich and he was like no thanks.

Ya-Ya- Personal fave. Weird Scifi nerd who just wants to be friend and has a doll that may or may not be possessed.

Dorothy- Fucking QUEEN. She’s a sweet southern belle or so she says because she’s in nation for conning people with scarily good impressions.

Rat- A badass who likes to steeeaaaal

And then she meets Sheila and everyone love’s Sheila cause Sheila’s super cools n also she likes to escape! Cue 3 failed escape attempts

Now here’s where I stop being able to remember shit.

So she has to get changed and sheila is made to like look after her and they share a moment sorta???

At some point Miss Asp is chosen to do a thing for a magazine which she’s excited about until she finds that they want to do it on one of the black girls so she chooses Susannah so now she gotta make Sussanah is like in top shape for this interview.

Francis comes by and tells them he’s sussanah’s brother so he can visit and he’s like “we gotta get you out” and he proposes I think somewhere in act 1??? And they need an escape plan.

There’s another Sussanah/Sheila moment in the bathroom when they sing The Other ONe and it’s cute as shit basically.

So then Miss Asp is out n the girls are like rager time and they have a party and this is when sussanah and Francis are meant to escape. Sussanah and sheila leave the party to go to Miss Asp’s office to get ukulele strings??? I think??? And sussanah teaches sheila some morse code and they sing oh well and it’s gay.

So they get to the office and they nearly kiss but oh no Miss Asp is back and catches them. Then there’s a fight and wait shit I forgot to explain Harriet. So Harriet used to be in Nation and she dated some piano girl and Miss Asp found out and she got electric shock therapy n Miss Asp was like more please and it killed her. Miss Asp is also her mum and I can’t remember if we know that at this point. That’s why Ya-Ya’s doll is Harriet 2. Also piano girl is dead. Anywhooo back to the plot. Sussanah and Sheila are caught and sussanah’s like it’s sheila’s fault and she get’s taken to solitary and Sussanah is like shit and sings I Hope I think and it’s beautiful and that’s end of act 1 I think.

So act 2 starts with Susannah feeling really bad and everyone being like well you should and they sing Solitary and it’s sad. Then sussanah realises sheila can hear the pipes clanging and they do some morse coding and everyone’s like gotta break sheila out.

BAck to me not remembering the order of anything that happens: Kitty sings Masochist at some point which is a queer anthem about being LGBT and loving it essentially also Miss Asp is having a breakdown and she thinks the girls are aliens and also Judith is a traitor who sells out the other girls in hopes of getting a transfer.

They devise a plan to get sheila out called operation sha la la and at this point I realise maybe Francis didn’t propose til act 2 and there was no escape plan in act 1??? God I should watch this again. Anyway the plan essentially involves sheila pretending to be sick and escaping through the bathroom window to where Francis will pick her up. All the girls use their different skills and band together even Judith at this point I think no wait that’s later oh and Sheila took Judith’s eye out for ratting out Harriet I think you should know that by now.

So they distract asp and the other guard dude while sussanah goes to give sheila the package and be like “btw I like you and I’m sorry”

Shit the magazine! Yeah this all happen’s on magazine day and asp is obsessing over everything being perfect. Sheila escapes and is round back but guard dude BUZZ! I think his name’s buzz! Catches is her and is like nah bro. So now I legit can’t remember shit, this is where revolution song goes yeah?? I’m putting it here anyway. So they’re like we gotta take this place down and they sing revolution song and make plans and they burn the place down. Wait shit no does revolution song happen while they’re making plans to bust sheila out?? Or both?? Anyway Judith has joined the squad and they burn the place down.

Now Sussanah and Sheila sing about how in love they are and Sheila rides off to Mexico with Francis cause she gotta get away.

Cut to the 80s and Sussanah’s is a famous singer and she’s playing in a record shop and Sheila happens to stop by and BAM LOOOOOOVE the end.

So uhhhhhhh someone please correct this. Hope it helped like even a little.

My baby is rich! This morning his band manager showed up and brought him his first salary:

Oh, and Noda and his band finally had a couple of gigs again today :)

Their first gig (where they performed something classical again) was practically sold out. It didn't change anything about their chart ranking or number of fans, though. Neither did the second show.

The third show made them go up to 2nd rank. An hour later they were 1st ^___________^

I tried out binary's very awesome Tama-Go gotchi points cheat code and now little Till has about as much money as Noda - who's a freaking rockstar, after all - had this morning *hehe* We immediatly spent a couple gp to redecorate Till's appartement. He got a nice big couch now... of which I forgot to take a picture ^^' Btw, I noticed, that there's also a game option behind the door icon. I wonder if I simply didn't see it yesterday or if it maybe only got unlocked, when Till evolved into a toddler o_o Anyways, I'm very glad I am not forced to play coin catch anymore to fill up his happy hearts. Shoot the Bug is way more fun (even though I feel kinda bad for the poor bugs ^^'). Aside from that, not much happened today. We went to the park and he met an adorable Memetchi, with whom he built a sand castle, and got to seesaw with a nice little Lovelitchi. I think today was the first time ever since Noda was born, that his hungry hearts completely emptied out. Took me a bit by surprise, to be honest (because my other two tamas, which I ignored, too, still had at least one heart left), but might've been, because his stress level went up. Maybe the hearts empty faster, the higher it gets o_o

He got another million gp salary. Oh, and his star ranking went down to 4th again overnight :/ I guess you only get awards, when you're already #1 when going on stage, not when becoming #1 after a show, huh?

Curious about this theory, I messed around with the time a bit, so the guys (who are performing as a jazz combo these days) have their concerts a bit earlier today.

After the first show, their star ranking went up to 2nd.

The second show made them #1.

The third show was followed by fireworks and the Tamagotchi King himself showing up, presenting my boys their first award 🥇

Ha! So that's how it works then.

To celebrate my baby's success, we purchased an UFO. That totally beats the shiney cars and big houses most rockstars own, don't you think? ;P

Anyways, at an Aftershow Party later tonight, Xero's band manager introduced Noda-chan to a sweet little Memetchi. It was practically love at first sight. They disappeared somewhere, only to come back blushing and giggling quite a while later... with a wriggling little egg o_o I mean, I heard fame does that to people - making them rush relationships and all - but I never expected Noda to be one of those cases, too.

Well, I took him, his new girlfriend and their egg home, and it didn't took long for their kid to hatch.

Noda is now proud daddy of a little baby girl :)

Those three look just too happy and adorable to be mad at them, don't they?

(Btw, I tried to make the family play with Noda's toy rocket, but they refused. Does Noda feel too "mature" to play anymore, now that he got a kid? o_O' Or is it, because his stress doesn't raise from practicing anymore anyways?)

Kitty did nothing but being a typical kitten today. She kept on sneaking around, lying down wherever she considered the floor soft and warm enough, and demanding attention every once in a while.

And later today she finally evolved again into the same form she had yesterday, before I had to reset her ^^

I still haven't figured out how to know what she wants, everytime the attention icon flashes. It happened all to often already, that I thought she was just calling out out of boredom, because all hearts were filled, but then, after I scolded her, a pile of poop appears on screen or she was asking for milk or I needed to play with her. *sigh* But I don't plan on giving up yet. Not until she's completely grown up and I figured out the best strategy to care for her ^^V

If I Noda was already low-maintenance before, he now managed to get on the verge of being boring o_o' Like, grating on my nerves every once in a while, with practicing loudly (I stopped praising him, I just go to his stats, so he'll stop), but the rest of the time doing absolutely nothing. Just bouncing on the screen, next to his beloved family, being all happy and stuff. We managed to get the Classical Music Award today, though. Easy Makeover: Taking A Neutral Living Room From Plain To Polished http://ift.tt/2o41tth

I love a baller room makeover as much as the next person (Lisa Vanderpump’s closet? I could stare at it for HOURS), but scrapping all of your existing stuff and completely overhauling every nook and cranny of your room isn’t always realistic, especially if you don’t have a Housewives-sized budget. Sometimes using what you have and just getting a few new things to revive the entire room is the sweet spot (have I mentioned how much fun I had staging my friend’s house to sell a few weeks ago?!). So when my best friend asked for some help with her bare bones living room, I immediately started shouting out ideas and scribbling sketches like a lone weirdo playing solo Pictionary.

You can see where we started below shortly after they moved in. Pretty sparse with just a rug, sofa, armchair, and tufted ottoman. It’s their “formal” living room, so the TV and big cozy sectional is elsewhere – but this room still gets lots of use (by the kiddos, for holiday entertaining, for spirited adult game nights, etc). After the move she was feeling so underwhelmed by how her existing stuff looked, she actually had convinced herself everything needed to be craigslisted so she could start over.

In her mind that felt like the only option since she was so tired of the things she had, and she just couldn’t imagine them ending up in a space she truly LOVED. But her current reality = three young kids (and a cat). So after some pretty deep talks about what we coined “that sticky fingers and rogue Cheerio dust life” – all off which will be around for at least five more years – she realized she would much rather wait a few more years to update her sofa and rug with something awesome that her kids would probably be a lot nicer to when they’re a little older.

Enter Captain Optimism stage right (that’s me, btw – my other aliases include Sergeant Enthusiasm and Petty Officer Peppy).  I was all “Woah, woah, woah – this stuff is neutral enough that it can work with anything! Let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater.” Then we took a long conversational detour to discuss how weird that whole baby/bathwater expression is, but eventually circled back to the task at hand: me successfully convincing her to Tim Gunn it in there (aka: make it work).

By just moving in some stuff she already owned and purchasing a couple of accent chairs, a pair of super inexpensive bookshelves, and three pieces of art that she adores – we breathed a ton of new life into her old stuff (btw, her neutral sofa and armchair are more tan and less pink in person than they look in these pics). Plus everything we added will not only work with this existing stuff, but should she replace their seating or their rug down the line, well, these new pieces will play nicely with whatever else she chooses.

The main “projects” in the room were the gold display shelves flanking the couch. They were a DIY effort that we tackled together and they only required two $50 Ikea shelves, this gold spray paint (the primer is built-in so it’s just one step, and it’s the best gold color I’ve found), and this marble contact paper. As for the how-to details, after we assembled the frames of each bookshelf (leaving the actual shelves aside), we spray painted both of them with a few thin and even coats of gold spray paint and allowed them to cure outside for two days so they wouldn’t stink up the house or get dinged up when we brought them inside.

Here’s a detail of the bottom shelf (you can see the top shelf in the pic above). All of the middle shelves are glass, but the top and bottom were solid metal – so when we dressed them up with the marbleized contact paper, we only covered the visible side of each one. It was sorta like wrapping a present where you just fold an inch or so of excess around the backside of each one. The contact paper didn’t affect the fit, so they still slid right into place. It was an idea that she found on Pinterest a while back and had always wanted to try – and it could not have been easier.

The other high-impact addition was the art. The large piece on the back wall is this photograph from Minted (in the 40 x 30″ size with the whitewashed herringbone frame – my favorite of theirs). The other two that were added to the mix are Paris View and Day in Paris (both 24 x 18″ with the same whitewashed frame).

The art was definitely the splurge (the total for all three pieces came to around $480 with a discount code that we googled) but thanks to such inexpensive Ikea bookcases, and the fact that they kept their existing sofa/chair/rug/ottoman instead of rebuying any major pieces, the makeover still came in under budget. Best of all the art has become their new favorite thing in the room, especially because of what it represents to them. She and her husband go to France once a year (he goes for business, and she gets to tag along for fun) so they love having a little bit of France in their living room. I know, I’m jealous too. #NeverBeenToEurope

The funny thing is that everyone who walks into the room says “Woah, that’s such a cool picture of your husband!!!” because he wears a bright orange jacket like that all the time. So people literally think the guy in the foreground is him, which leads to some pretty hilarious “I can’t believe you think I can take a picture like that!” revelations from my BFF. Sometimes she’s like “oh, you know, just a little snap I got on my phone...”

Also: this is Kitty Purry (named after Katie Perry’s cat by their oldest child). I like her because she matches the art. Also because she’s a sweet kitty who only occasionally makes my eyes itch thanks to my stellar cat-intolerant genetics.

Let’s bring it back around to the before shot one more time, just to show one last “zone” that we added to fill out the room.

The only other purchases for the room were the two $65 ghost chairs that we added on the exposed edge of the rug, which help the seating area feel more complete and extra functional (now we can squeeze in two more butts on game night). They actually already owned two of these acrylic chairs in their dining room, so I just dragged them in here to test them out. We liked that the clear acrylic lets your eye travel through them (if they were larger or more solid it might feel like a jarring “wall” of chairs in your face). Once they were sold on the look, they just ordered two more so they weren’t short on dining room chairs. And that side table between them? That’s a basket they already had turned upside down. How’s that for using what you have?

We also brought in (and anchored!) a leaning mirror they already owned for one last hit of gold in the room. She got it a few years ago at West Elm, but it’s back in stock in brass (it tends to go in and out, so here’s a similar one on Wayfair). And for the accessories on the shelves, we just used stuff she had around the house – some magazines stacked horizontally, framed photos, boxes, vases, and these perfectly-sized lamps that put out a nice glow at night. Most of their books live on built-ins in the other room, so these shelves got to be more decorative and light.

For anyone else who is faced with bare shelves, or crazy cluttered ones, my best shelf-styling tip would be that a few larger scale items are better than a bunch of little busy or piddly looking ones, and I love decorative boxes, stacks of mags and books, framed photos, and a few vases – perhaps with some cheap grocery store flowers if you’re feeling fancy (we paid $4 total for the two bunches that you see in the after pics).
